First time watching Hot Fuzz for me. You very rarely react to anything I've not seen so this was really fun. I generally don't like this kind of movie, but this was more than just tolerable, it was actually pretty good. Fortunately I (we) saw Point Break before this one. Absolutely loved all the Point Break references, it being one of my favorite movies. I can actually vision Patrick Swayze (RIP) in his Reagan mask at the end when they red herring the line "little hand says its time to rock and roll!" And you DO need to see Bad Boys, OMG how have you not? And Beverly Hills Cop. That one is LONG overdue too. And all the sequels from both. Some of the absolute best buddy cop movies ever produced in those two series. Lethal Weapon was the OG but if you thought it was great, wait until you get out these two series.

Finally got around to watching this one. I knew Cassie would enjoy this movie, but wasn't expecting her to love it this much which was a nice surprise. So glad she was able to appreciate the satire and movie references. Though there were quite a few she definitely missed not being British of course. As well as 'The World's End (2013)', which is that third movie by the same director she mentioned, I really hope she watches 'Paul (2011)' too, as it also stars Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, along with Seth Rogan, Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver and Bill Hader, to name a few. P.s. Did some tell Cassie that Cate Blanchett had a hidden cameo in this movie as the ex-girlfriend Jeanine in the CSI outfit?

Yes you definitely need to see both Bad Boys, but there’s was just a few shots they copied from Bad Boys in the last half an hour or so. Funny thing is there’s is small villages in the U.K. that have some very strange people in them, obviously nothing the this extreme but they kinda made a lot of fun about it in this movie. Especially with the farmer with all the guns there is people that talk like that lol. But As I’m a English guy living in the U.K. I’ll forgive the way you tried to pronounce Gloucestershire, most people from across the pond don’t pronounce a lot of things correctly 😂😂. But regarding watching Bad Boys I think doing a buddy cop week would be a great idea as I think you might have just watched the Lethal Weapon movies. Along with Bad Boys you definitely need to see Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, K-9 (like Turner & Hooch but better), Tango & Cash and Dragnet.

I disagree. My response to their reaction didn’t have to do with how much they liked the movie. I’ve enjoyed plenty of Cassie’s reactions when she disliked the movie. “Big Trouble in Little China” and, more recently, “Highlander” are just two examples. I love those movies. Cassie hated them. But she watched every minute, was actively engaged and I found her reactions to both to be quite enjoyable. The simple fact of the matter is that they DID ignore what was happening on screen for a good portion of the beginning of the movie. Cassie even missed a person’s head practically falling off from being eaten by a zombie. If they want to snack, that’s fine. I don’t care if they snack. I don’t even care if they talk about their snacks. But if they do it to the exclusion of watching the movie, that’s an issue. I tune in to watch the reaction. If they’re not watching the movie because they’re too consumed by talking about which kind of chocolate they prefer, they aren’t engaged with the movie and that absolutely affects the reaction.

Fantastic reaction I do really like this film, Frost Pegg & Wright have done some great work together. Also any luck figuring out what the audio issue is yet as i can still hear the whurring sound quite prominently. Which is a bit distracting but didn't stop me enjoying this though.

i watched each of Timothy Dalton's Bond movies only once. When watching Hot Fuzz (first watch) along with Cassie's reaction, I did not remember that he was Bond, and I liked him as Bond. At least Cassie connected him with Bond.

Perfect way to end the weekend! Such a fun and hilarious movie that is surprisingly well - written. Every set -up gets a payoff at the end whether a plot point, a piece of dialogue or (usually) an action movie reference. Been loving this movie for 17 years now and I'm still catching details. Like a reference to the Lethal Weapon 3 theme in the soundtrack - the doctor played the bad guy in that film. Sooooo many references. I love that Cassie could reference Batman: Mask of the Phantasm as they were fighting in a literal "model village" but didn't realize the Bond villain type was Timothy Dalton, who some consider to be the 'darkest Bond.' Love the channel. Keep up the good work. I'll throw a couple requests out if that's ok: The Rocketeer, Flight of the Navigator, Lorenzo's Oil and Awakenings. I think you (and Carly) would enjoy them all. Peace.

Just Plain Bob, it's common for Cassie and Carlie to talk missing details of the movie in their reaction. Their reaction to Shaun of the Dead was definitely not unique in that way. What was unique was fans' vocal negative response. Even if Cassie and Carly had caught every detail in Shaun of the Dead, they would not have liked the movie more. Shaun of the Dead is a good movie, but some of us just don't rate Shaun of the Dead at 10/10 as do the rabid fans who were critical.

The rabid fans of Shaun of the Dead (which is not the greatest movie in history) were offensive and incorrect in their comments on YouTube. One can appreciate Shaun of the Dead while eating chocolate and occasionally chatting. The commenters' inflated notion of how crucial every little detail is ridiculous. I canceled my purchase of Shaun of the Dead (to watch along with the full reaction) after seeing the fans' overblown sense of themselves and the movie. Criticizing Cassie and Carly is fair game. Criticizing the commenters is also fair game.

Cassie releases full reactions first, here on Patreon. Then, a few days later, she releases the YouTube edit (first here, then on YouTube a few hours later). Personally, I prefer the full reactions but, if you prefer the shorter YouTube edits, never fear, they’ll be coming. Also, being a member has other advantages, such as access to voting on polls to choose future movies that Cassie will react to, trivia nights, etc. It’s a pretty good value return on the investment. I just realized that I sound like a salesman when I’m really just a satisfied member of the community, so I’ll shut up now.

It wasn’t the fact that they ate some snacks. They spent the first part of the reaction almost completely ignoring the movie, talking about their snacks. And they missed a big part of the set up for what was coming. Then the white knighters came in with the whole “Cassie can do no wrong, if you don’t like it you shouldn’t watch her reactions.” I enjoy Cassie’s reactions. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. But I don’t enjoy a reaction in which the viewer isn’t engaged with the movie they’re supposedly reacting to. That said, it was a one time thing and her reactions continue to be the absolute cream of the crop.

In Cassie's outro she comments the reason this film is so good is all the details, jokes & foreshadowing that come thick & fast in the dialogue - that is one of the strengths of the cornetto trilogy, and you can't appreciate it if you are literally reviewing chocolate. She clearly enjoyed this one much more, and the audience were correct she would have liked Shaun more if C&C watched more closely in the first 20 minutes

I love the accents throughout this film. Simon Pegg’s character speaks with British RP (Received Pronunciation, also known as BBC English or the Queen’s English), while the farmer has a strong Rural West Country accent. It’s a slight exaggeration, but there are definitely people whose accents you can barely understand. Pegg’s character being a London cop makes it even funnier, as the contrast between his polished accent and the thick rural dialect is played up brilliantly. Speaking from experience, older individuals sometimes have such a strong accent that only one person in the family can understand them. You sit there thinking, "That’s not even English," and your mum has to translate for you. I remember visiting my mum’s uncle’s house and having no clue what he was saying. All I could do was smile and nod, hoping it was the right response! Though that was in Ireland, it's a similar concept. In Northern Ireland, you can hear five or more different accents in each county, not to mention the different dialects. You only need to drive a few minutes for the accents to change across villages, towns, and cities. Imagine all the American accents you can think of, but compacted into just a 30-minute to an hour drive from each other. The same applies to England, Wales, and Scotland. My mother has a strong country Derry accent, while my friend’s mother has a strong city Belfast accent, and they have no idea what the other person is saying, even though Belfast is only an hour away! That’s something I love about these films and shows, exposing people to the many accents of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Game of Thrones, Guy Ritchie’s films, etc. all do an amazing job of showcasing accents beyond the typical Queen’s English, which most people assume is the default British accent. There are so many unique regional accents that people outside the UK don’t even know about, so it’s really cool to hear those being highlighted in media.

Love your laugh Cass and it is one of your endearing qualities that people gravitate to. No need to be embarrassed by it. Yeah, "Hot Fuzz" is a fantastic, sharply written, and funny as Hell movie. The final movie of the Cornetto Trilogy (named after the ice-cream referenced in each movie and all directed by Edgar Wright) is "The World's End". I think you would also enjoy two more Simon Pegg movies in "Run Fatboy Run" and "Paul". "Paul" also stars Nick Frost (Danny), but I really think "Run Fatboy Run" is up your alley and Carly's too (Romantic? Comedy).

Although I agree with Cassie that someone taking care of plants is a green flag, I think in this instance it is a clever piece of writing to show "Nicholas'" trouble with relationships outside of his work. This is because Japanese Peace Lillies are very hearty and resilient plants that require very little amounts of attention and maintenance... I have one and I haven't killed it yet! So, him being able to maintain the plant over his relationship with "Janine" shows that he probably paid less attention to her than a plant that doesn't require much. This is where is the growth of character happens through his "bromance" with "Danny".

Being a Brit, I feel a swell of jingoism seeing a British film get some attention. We have a rich history of mostly bad to mediocre movies, but we have some good ones too. Some Brit flicks I would recommend are: Son of Rambow (2007) - A sweet and quirky coming of age story set in the 80s starring a very young Will Poulter. It's fun, inventive and has a lot of heart. Submarine (2010) - Also a sweet and quirky coming of age story set in the 80s, but this time in Wales rather than England. Reminiscent of a Wes Anderson movie. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) - Spiritual predecessor to Snatch, a fun London gangster caper with lots of memorable characters and interweaving plots. Layer Cake (2004) - Generally considered to be the film that secured Daniel Craig the Bond role, you'll also find great performances from Daniel Craig's Q, Dumbledore, Chief O'Brian and Tom Hardy. Another London gangster film similar to Snatch, but with a more serious tone. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) - Incredible ensemble cast led by Gary Oldman, it's an espionage thriller set in the 70s that leans more towards investigation/detective work than guns and explosions. I could go on and on, but to be honest just watch Son of Rambow - I guarantee you'll love it.

So we got around to watching this one with you. This was a fun one. Jolly good time this one is. Fun to watch with Cassie. Yeah Cassie. My friend owns a Airbnb in England south of Coventry. His sister was over there in small village and ran into Sophie Turner and her two little girls. Apparently her ex husband Joe Jonas lives yeah I don't know. Apparently she is dating someone from some famous family in the county of Sussex. My friend was telling me all about it but I had no idea what the hell was talking about. All I know or understood was that Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift are besties, apparently? I loved Sophie Turner in GOT she was my favorite. But best friends with Taylor Swift? This was later confirmed by the illustrious gf. Who said it's all true. I love England. Scotland was definitely my favorite though.

After a long and exhausting week, plus a long and tiring day, my cheeks are now sore from smiling. What a fun reaction. More black comedies, please, especially British ones. This movie is packed with so many action genre references that I'm still catching new ones even after watching it 5-6 times. It wasn't until today, thanks to a recent rewatch, that I realized the Santa Claus stabbing is probably a nod to Doyle in THE FRENCH CONNECTION. The "Cornetto Trilogy" does have a third installment, THE WORLD'S END (2013). However, there's also a sort of unofficial fourth addition: PAUL (2011). This film stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who also co-wrote it, but unlike the trilogy, Edgar Wright wasn't involved as director or writer. PAUL is filled with a lot of nods and parodies of the '80s sci-fi films.

Cassie, I think most people are self conscious about their laugh. I know I am. But what a sad world this would be if everyone tried to muffle their laughter just so no one would hear it. I remember the first time I saw Airplane in the theatre. I laughed so hard and so long at certain scenes that I missed a good portion of the movie trying to compose myself. I’m sure I looked and sounded ridiculous, but who cares, I had such a blast. And there is one particular scene in this movie when Nick Frost tries to follow Simon Pegg on a foot chase and runs right though the fence. I lose it every time I see it. Just thinking about it now has me chuckling, but it will probably bring me to tears when I watch your reaction. Bottom line Cassie…don’t hold back. Laughter is beautiful and contagious, and we should all be laughing out loud more often.

Cassie, never be self-conscious about laughing, it's a bit like dancing, you should do it like nobody is watching... even if you (the royal "you, not Cassie herself) have a laugh like "Eve Draper's". "He's like a Bond villain", that's because of the moustache. When Timothy Dalton doesn't have the moustache he is "James Bond" in the "The Living Daylights" and "Licence to Kill". I have enjoyed this movie since I first saw it, I was worried some of the gruesomeness might dampen it but glad it didn't. I am glad you enjoyed it as the fun ride it is. It is a love letter to action movies, but also to horror and rom-coms, the relationship between "Danny" and "Nicholas" follow a lot of the same beats as standard rom-coms. There a some many great gags in this, including one of my all-time favorites, "Danny" running headlong into the fence. But there are also lots of subtle things as well, like the swear box that has list of bad words edited with special characters, except for the worst one (the c-word) which is spelt correctly. Or, when "Danny" is still wearing his cowboy hat after the church fair when he is on-duty instead of his police hat, but it's hard to notice as it covered with plastic due to the rain. Or, the "homage to Shakespeare" that was actually a re-telling of Baz Luhrmann's 90s reimagining of "Romeo and Juliet", which is where the costumes (the wings) and the Cardigan's song "Lovefool" come in. There are so many great British actors in this. And many of the villains have been in action movies or TV shows, with reactions on this channel. But as they are older I hoping they may get recognised, but I wasn't surprised when they weren't.Other commentors have already disccused most of the bigger ones. But, I thought Stephen's Merchant and Cooghan might get recognised, as Merchant ("Mr Staker" that lost his swan) was seen recently in "Logan" as "Caliban" , and Steve Cooghan (Martin Freeman's supervisor) is the Roman centurion from the "Night at the museum" movies among many other things, which I am sure Cassie has referenced before - I'm a fan of his work as "Alan Partridge".

Cassie, I can honestly tell you that your laugh is nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact, it is one of the many things about you and your channel I find so charming and refreshing. Please keep going with more comedies. May I suggest one of my favorite comedy series is the "Road to" series with Bob Hope and someone your familiar with...Bing Crosby. This series of comedies ran from 1940 - 1962. It essentially is a series of situational comedies with Bob Hope playing most of the comic relief and Bing playing the crooning semi straight man. If you thought the on screen chemistry of White Christmas's Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye was endearing, the chemistry between Hope and Crosby was legendary on screen and off. I whole heartedly recommended you check out the series (even if you are never able to officially on your channel). Take care.

It is amazing how well this movie is written, almost every line comes back later and plays a role. I have seen this movie countless times and yet I still discover new meanings to lines each time, even including this view. A few examples of very subtle creative line usage: Every time "The greater good" is spoken, it is repeated. "Everyone and his mom has a gun." Later when Angel returns that man's mom shoots at him with a gun. "Did you catch the swans? / There's only one swan." Later "Did you catch the criminals? / There's only one criminal." which is what makes Angel realize there actually are more. The line from Bad Boys in the clip they show is "Shit just got real." Which is later repeated by Angel. And of course there are countless others. Also yes indeed you should watch 'Worlds End,' it may be regarded as the weakest of the three but it is still great.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie, this once is actually my favorite of the "Cornetto" trilogy, you are correct at this being part of a trilogy, the next/last one is THE WORLD'S END! I just love the way this movie makes so many referrences to many action cop movies, a few which you have already reacted too, and yes you do need to see the BAD BOYS franchise, considering a new one was released this year, making a total of 4! You managed to get a small taste of that franchise in this lol! It really made me happy that you got a lot of good laughs in this movie! On a side note, that scene when they discover that old man's arsenal, I say "hello hello" every time, and just for yuks, every one of those firearms you see them use at the end of the movie, I have an airsoft replica of "almost" each one you see in that final showdown, hehe😁 I'm impressed with you Cass, recognizing many of the actors in this movie, I applaud you👏👏👏 To kinda help you what movies you've reacted to that most of these actors are also in, for example: Paul Freeman who plays the priest Rev. The NWA guy who shot Danny at the end was played by Edward Woodward who was in the original The Wicker Man a British horror movie where a city cop gets sent to a small village where everyone is part of a cult. One of the many clever things about this movie is it references Hollywood action movies and British crime thrillers and really keeps them in balance. The Worlds End is my favourite of the trilogy so hopefully we won’t have to wait as long between films.

"That's what I'm talking about." I liked it. My first watch. 3/4 Funny. Entertaining. A good parody. Enjoyed the satire. "Nothin' like a bit of girl on girl." Your reaction is fun. The chocolate was a nice touch. I like the arc with Angel and Danny. Glad that Danny didn't die in the end. Like you, I was glad I had watched Point Break because of the channel. I liked Andy. Paddy Considine (who played Andy) was Mike in Cinderella Man. As you may recall, Mike was the fellow day-laborer and good friend of Braddock (Russell Crowe), and who would bet on Braddock. I also didn't remember that Timothy Dalton was Bond, and I liked him as Bond. At least you had him connected to Bond. I watched each of his Bond movies once (when I watched your and Carly's reactions). Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are who I think of as Bond, though I would probably also recall Pierce Brosnan as playing Bond. I've watched the Craig Bond movies several times. Sean Connery is who I thought of as Bond when I was growing up even though I didn't really watch Bond movies.

I made my original post at the very beginning of the reaction, when Cassie mentioned that she was aware that it was part of a trilogy. I’ve finished watching the reaction since then and, I gotta say, this may be my favorite reaction to a comedy yet. Not just a favorite reaction by Cassie, but by any reactor. I remember we won some tickets to this movie from an online film magazine and I watched it with some friends a day before the premiere. I thought it was okay, but didn't like it much then. It was my first Edgar Wright movie and his style does require some getting used to and is not for everyone. But it really grew on me over the time and this movie became one of my favorite comedies. Cassie, the trilogy is known as the Cornetto Trilogy because, in each of the three movies, there’s a scene in which the main characters eat Cornetto ice cream cones/drumsticks. The three movies were all directed by Edgar Wright, co-written by Wright and Simon Pegg (Benji in the MI movies) and star Pegg and his real life best friend Nick Frost (Danny in this film, useless best friend Ed in “Shaun of the Dead”). Regarding the writing: the extras for the blu ray of “Shaun of the Dead” include insights into the writing methods of Wright/Pegg that I found fascinating. For instance, they spoil the entire remainder of the movie in the pub scene between Pegg and Frost in which Frost’s character (Ed) is commiserating with Shaun over his breakup. They discuss plans for the day and literally describe each upcoming scene of the movie. The viewer doesn’t realize that’s what’s happening, of course. But then the rest of the movie plays out and they go to each place mentioned during their talk, witnessing and/or participating in each activity they discussed, just in a WILDY different manner/context. One example is when they plan on going for a “bite at the King’s Head” (presumably a local pub or restaurant). This is a reference to the zombie bite on Shaun’s stepfather’s (the “King”) neck/head. Btw, the same actor that played the stepfather in “Shaun” played the Chief Inspector in “Hot Fuzz.” Wright, Pegg and Frost first worked together on the tv show “Spaced” (a FANTASTIC comedy). Pegg actually met Frost at a party and thought he was funny. Frost had no prior acting experience before joining the cast of “Spaced.” The show only ran for two seasons, a total of 14 episodes. It’s worth checking out and is currently available for free on Tubi. It has more pop culture references per minute than any other show I’ve ever seen (and really showcases Pegg’s dislike of the Star Wars prequels, in season 2).
