Yeah I tried to do the watch along with Cassie and gave up about ten minutes into part 2, I have the shorter versions of the episodes on itunes and didn't realize until tonight how chopped up they got with the edited versions of this final episode, made it really hard to watch along with Cassie, not her fault.

I finally got my best friend into Star Trek this year after trying for over a decade. After finishing TNG and moving on to the next show he declared he wanted to go to a Star Trek convention so we could meet the crew. I'd never considered going to one on my own but we made our plans and this past August we went to the big annual Trek con in Vegas. We didn't get to meet every single person we wanted (Spiner left after the second-to-last day and we didn't realize) but we got our photo taken with Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and we got to hang out and chat with Robert O'Reilly (Chancellor Gowron) and another Klingon actor from Deep Space Nine, JG Hertzler, for about 30 minutes talking about politics and our experiences living in Florida and New York. Was a really awesome and fun time. Now we have to go back so we can meet Brent Spiner. Unfortunately, Patrick Stewart very, very rarely appears given his career and schedule. I think the last time was in 2018 as a surprise, unscheduled appearance to announce the Star Trek: Picard show.

My big issue back then was the fact that it was syndicated and could change time slots and even channels with little warning. Streaming changed everything for DS9. It was ahead of its time.

I enjoyed all the Picard seasons too but I get why seasons 1 and 2 are devisive. The thing is I don’t think you can watch 3 without at least seeing season 1 or else you’ll be kind of confused because of (SPOILER) 🤣😬

It was sad and I was in 7th grade when this episode aired. They also devoted the whole week to it with a TNG marathon and behind the scenes doc hosted by Jonathan Frakes - all capped off with Patrick Stewart during SNL. It was emotional for me but I was comforted by the fact that I was already a fan of DS9 and that was going to continue, plus Generations and Voyager were coming.

Season 3 of Picard is the only season that doesn't ruin the character's legacy. The previous seasons were written by people who had no love for the franchise and were new to it. The fact that Terry Matalas, a writer and producer of shows such as Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise, was the creative force behind season 3 made a HUGE difference. That is why most fans of the Star Trek franchise LOVED season 3 of Picard and hated the previous two seasons.

so my thoughts on future Star Trek: I know you plan on watching these movies and the Kelvin movies. That's fine. I actually think perhaps where you should go next after the movies is Voyager. I know a lot of people don't like it as much, but it is a series that you can watch similar to this one: picking the best 4 or so episodes per season to give you the highlights. Then I think you can watch Star Trek Picard. Most people would recommend just Season 3 but it might be worth hitting up all three seasons. Beyond that, I think it is up to you. I personally like Star Trek: Enterprise. The first two seasons you can pick and choose episodes, but it becomes much more serialized in seasons 3 and 4. Same thing with DS9. The first 3 or 3 1/2 seasons you can pick and choose but it becomes much harder to do that in the last have of the series because it also becomes much more serialized.

Not trying to spoil...(i mean it is immediately shown in the first episode) but one criticism of season one that annoyed me is people being upset that Picard was old and not his former strong self. But that very thing was very much shown to be his destiny in this episode....

It's funny how things in life work out sometimes. I have been content to watch the Youtube edits of the TNG episodes because I don't sub to any streaming services. I did the free trial to Paramount+ to see the full reaction to Best of Both Worlds and was thinking I would want to see the full reaction of this one. The day after this was posted I went to the local used book/movie store to see if I might get lucky. Boy did I, for $6 they had the Q fan collection DVD set. It has All Good Things edited together and it synced perfectly. It was such a great experience to watch the full reaction.

I get the point that it is far more serialized in later seasons. It is just she seems to have really enjoyed these ST series. I think DS9 is the best of them and she would really enjoy the show and characters. She could probably still watch key episodes and maybe read episode descriptions or watch the episodes in between in off time.

Cassie, you should watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9) and Voyager on your own. Personally DS9 is my favorite Trek series, but it has over arching plot lines that and recurring characters that could easily be missed or muddled by only viewing a few episodes per season. There are a ton of recurring characters to delve into and you get to see more cultures than just the Federation. Plus you will get to follow some familiar faces from The Next Generation beyond their careers on the Enterprise.

Not only did Paramount screw up "Picard" (the show in an alternate universee with pessimistic writers who hated Roddenberry's vision) Paramount screwed while editing these 2 episodes together. lol

There's a good bunch of standalone epsiodes I've missed that have been mentioned and some I've added which could be removed like our man Bashir the thing is it's a big list already and she hasn't got time to watch the whole show. So I've given her what iive felt as the core, the Dominion and the marquis. She didn't like a whole bunch of Klingon arcs in TNG so I've avoided as much as I can of those. I've opted for some characters like Vic Fontaine, Cmdr Eddington, garak and missed some like focusing on characters like Cassidy Yates. We missed some arcs and characters on TNG but we got through it. I hoped to show it's possible to do the same for DS9. But voting for a bunch of episodes is not going to possible especially for S6 and s7

Agree 100 percent! I expressed the same sentiment during a live premiere to one of the episodes and Jon Johns accused me of wanting to be a voyeur lol. I guess he assumed I was a random on YouTube. It's a show that she loves and a great series why wouldn't it be disappointing to think of her watching episodes on her own? Especially when half of the things patrons and youtubers have her react to are either low tier or something she obviously wouldn't enjoy. However, even though Terry worked on Voyager and Enterprise, and I agree with you that he is the reason it was the closest that Abrams/Kurtzman Trek ever came to real Star Trek, he was still hampered by Kurtzman being around, his co-writers, the Hollywood environment, and having to deal with Season 1 & 2. He was only an assistant producer on "Voyager" so likely had little input, though I will admit he was probably influence by being around the show. I respect your opinion but you see I wouldn't recommend Picard to any TNG fan. It relies heavily on Member Berries which I guess is fine if you are into that sort of thing (I am not). The main critical issue that ruins everything is hard to say without spoiling... so, I will just say it this way... Picard is not in Picard Season 3. Which makes it all meaningless drivel. Also the Borg story line was ridiculous and a cop out. It was again filled with more mutinous actions akin to STD which is not good Star Trek. I watched Season 3 vicariously through a few content creators' analysis of the show (supporting them not the show); so no, my opinion is not based on just Season 1 & 2 (which were also viewed the same way). I have not supported Abrams/Kurtzman Trek with direct viewership since STD Season 1, Episode 1. Things were wrapped up just fine with "All Good Things..." and TNG didn't need another wrap up. I am glad there were moments that you enjoyed to the point of crying and I am not trying or wanting to take that away from you. I have zero issue with you liking the Season, I am just voicing my opinion on the matter.

I would also recommend Stewart's version of "Scrooge" for a Christmas slot. I rarely question Cassie's choices, but I think the version of Scrooge she chose last year (the Albert Finney one) was a very poor example. It's not done well on Youtube because of it. Stewart's version is much better, and his performance is probably very indicative of his prowess on the stage.

I watched it recently for the first time in years and it was just kinda boring and uninspired. Indistinguishably human aliens on a planet that looks like California. Most Trek fans say it feels like a TNG 2 parter and I agree, but it probably would've been done better in the show. Still not as bad as nemesis.

All we've really said is that if Cassie wants to react to it, we'll watch it. Also many of the Trek people have agreed that Cassie and the channel need a break from Star Trek after the movies. That doesn't mean she'll never revisit it. It will probably be a very long time before she is ready to put more on the channel. She does seem to really love it though. I wouldn't be surprised if it does make another appearance some day. If it does, it would be great if you could support what Cassie wants to watch. Just like the rest of us when she watches things we don't like.

Terry Matalas was actually the showrunner for season 3 of Picard and had previously worked on Voyager & Enterprise. Season 1 & 2 were helmed by 2 different showrunners. That's a big part of the reason each season is so different. I also think Terry's influence is the reason season 3 is as good as it is. There was a few things I didn't like about season 3 but there were also moments that had me crying and made me feel just like I did watching Star Trek as a child. I'd recommend season 3 of Picard to any TNG fan. It wraps things up beautifully but still leaves room for these characters to come back if they want to. I do respect your opinion. However, I hope you watched season 3 and you're not basing your opinion on just season 1 & 2. Which are definitely inferior and have many modern Trek tropes.

What I do is if there is a Channel I like but rarely like the movie/show picked I just subscribe once in a blue moon for one month and then download or watch all the ones I like. @David - That right there is the problem. Trek has been 20-25% of all content for almost a freaking year and people still bitch that it isn't enough. Trek is going to end up with over 30 "watch slots" and they still want more. The classic movie people have had, what, 5? Horror has been about the same, westerns too. Foreign has had around 4. "Kung-fu" has had 1-ish. But Trek gets butt-hurt if you dare say, "enough already". Other people have been paying their $15/month too, quietly waiting for that ONE movie they have been wanting, all the while listening to the Trek people bitching, "hey we've only watched 50 episodes of TNG, 6 movies, and 4-6 episodes of TOS, with 7 movies to go, we need at least 50 more TNG and 168 Voyager episodes and 173 DS9 and Picard and Enterprise and Discovery and and and and."

I wouldn't say it's a waste, but I agree there's a significant problem with the episode not syncing up with the version of the episode available on Amazon. The version Cassie is watching appears to have additional content and scenes that aren't in the one I'm watching.

I repeat. I quite often don’t agree with IMDb. I tend to much more agree with RT critic scores than IMDb. Not always, but generally. I’ve noticed that movies with high RT critic ratings but low RT audience scores can tend to be too esoteric for me The bottom line with respect to the Chris Pine ST trilogy is I go with the majority position over you. Your “opinion” on the ST Chris Pine trilogy is completely subjective and gibberish. At least you had sensible comments about the Serkis Apes movies. So Leonard Nimoy is a liar? He explained in much detail his process with the first Chris Pine movie- that I did not quote. He was very positive. So he lied according to you. I have respect for Leonard Nimoy and do not believe he would have lied for marketing or to be a gentleman as you say.

I agree with the sentiment of your comment I just do not agree on Picard Season 3 recommendation. Is it better than Season 1 & 2, without a doubt, but that is such a low bar to get over and it is still bad, just not as bad. It is basically a walking, talking Member Berry and whether that works for you or not is a personal taste, personally I hate Member Berries. I have many more issues with P-S3 but the main one is... what is Picard's physical status for the season?! Think about it. The real issue for Cass is that she will miss many of these Member Berries due to her limited Star Trek exposure. Is Seven really going to mean anything to her without having seen Voyager, etc.?!

They rank high on your precious IMDb so you obvious must enjoy and love them. They are vacuous action set pieces which Star Trek has never been. That is how Abrams, the hack and grifter that he is, operates; he distracts you with a shiny object (action) and a frenetic pace to distract you from realizing how surface level his scripts and movies really are. So glad that you expanded the series beyond the 4 episode maximum you initially proposed. I guess it grew on you didnt it? :D I highly recommend going back and watching the entire series yourself since there are a lot of good storylines you missed out on. As much as I would love to see us continue into Deep Space Nine which I consider the peak of Star Trek, I just don't see how we could do a fragmented version of that show like we did with this one since it uses a linear storytelling format that TNG did not use. Each episode builds on the one before it, and skipping around especially in the later seasons will have us simply missing too much of the main story for it to make sense. So if Cassie does decide she wants to step into DS9, it has to be all the way. I understand why that might not be a good idea for the channel though so whatever she decides to do is ok with me. On to the movies.

Yeah, a lot of of younger people under age 40 submit ratings. In contrast, old people who have a bias toward old stuff maybe not so much. TOS episodes are good and were revolutionary. TOS movies have not aged the greatest, especially if you havesentimental attachment to the TOS characters or TOS nostalgia. The only excellent TNG movie is First Contact.

Let's put this in context. Cassie has watched the equivalent of 44 episodes of TNG, that's roughly 25% of the show. Even though people thought she wasn't going to 'get it' she found herself really caring for these characters despite only really scratching the surface of what the show created. The fact that she could still feel that moment at the poker table is proof of that. I hope she explores the show on her own, not even for the channel. I get there are episodes that would never win a poll and people would roll their eyes if she watched more Trek, but if Cassie decided to watch TNG for herself (not as reaction content) I'm sure she'd find even more stories and characters for her to enjoy. Doug, Everyone is welcome to their own opinions. Personally I really liked Picard S3 (not so much the 1st two series) and the 3 JJ movies. I get the JJ movies are more action over Sci-fi but I really liked the different style and the choices he made. As I think if he had just copied the original films/TV Show I’m sure he would have been heavy criticised for doing that as well, so I respect him for giving us something different, it’s also brought in a new fan base as I know a few people (including by brother) who wasn’t into the franchise before these 3 films and now they have watched a few of the other movies and TV Shows.

I agree with Clarence that traditional Star Trek died with the end of ST-ENT. I watched ST 2009 once in the theater and was totally turned off by the reboot and change of canon. I didn't watch any other theatrical Star Trek movies after that one. I watched one episode of ST-DISC and was done. I tried (I mean I REALLY tried) to watch ST-PIC, but halfway into the 5th episode, I finally gave up. Watching an hour of QVC with my wife looking at cooking stuff was more entertaining. If you love the post-ST-ENT stuff, I'm happy for you. It's not my cup of tea and I've accepted that my Star Trek, like my Star Wars, is gone and not coming back.

It's been really fun seeing your reaction to my favorite tv series, so thank you! I'm almost just as bummed out as when I first heard that they were stopping the show to focus on movies all those years ago. So, you're right about it being an ending, the movies are fine, but they're different than the series. I wanted the series to continue even to today, like Dr Who, which has been on for decades, but all good things... but anyway, loved the reactions, and onward and upward.

Nick you might actually really enjoy the 3 Chris Pine films. As I know a few friends and my brother who aren’t fans of the franchise but really liked the last 3 movies. Not much to the new Chris Pine movies being highly rated. There is a lot of recency bias, and age bias with the rankings, that is why things like the IMDB, and thing like RT should almost never be looked at, or at the very least, looked at with the the strictest of rational thought.

This episode is pure fanservice, but done right. Similar to Avengers: Endgame or the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3, it pays homage to what the fans love, it does its own thing and it tells an interesting story in the process.

I'm curious Cassie...You have mentioned your father used to watch TNG; has this given you something new to talk about and bond over? I loved being able to bond with my father or my sons over a shared interest. I hope it's been that way with the two of you. Also, it would be helpful for you to share what streaming service or if you were watching a DVD. I was watching through Amazon and it didn't sync with yours very well. I imagine yours probably was the original broadcast version that showed the entire two part as one long episode. The version that I rented was broken up into two episodes and had a few scenes trimmed so they could show a recap of the first part of the episode.

There is no need to watch S1 and S2, they were sub par. But Picard 3 truly is some of the best of TNG. Made by a showrunner who loved the show and you can tell. Watch it, seriously, it's a completely different vibe than S1 and S2. you can thank us all later!

The thing is with Picard S1, S2, and S3 that they are all season arcs. It's not as if you can skip episodes. Season 3 stands alone because it's a new showrunner and essentially departs from S1 and S2, the only remnant being one person. She may not have skipped seasons previously, but she watched all the episodes before, which she hasn't done for TNG. S1 and S2 of Picard objectively aren't good. If she's going to watch 20 episodes of Trek (i.e., S1 and S2 of Picard), I'd rather her watch another series or more episodes of TNG. Respectful of her time, I'd say S3 of Picard only, 10 episodes makes sense. And to those saying she's be lost, it's a disservice to her to say she won't understand or get it without watching S1 and S2.

Cassie, Thank You so much for this journey along with you through TNG. I do hope you continue on in your offline viewing, and watch all the episodes, and continue on with all the series if you so desire. Some thoughts on the episode. This is easily the best TNG movie despite not being a movie. They had already started filming "Generations" (the best TNG movie IMO) before they were finished filming season 7. This episode does have a different feel, in a great way, and I have always attributed it to that. Given that everything was shot on film, if they have the original negative, there should be filmed material to turn this final into a wide screen movie format, which would be amazing, unfortunately not "fiscally viable" i am sure, but one can dare to dream. "All Good Things..." is one of the few episodes that utilizes the whole crew and secondary characters in the episode, which is always a delight, and makes it feel more fully rounded. Throughout the run, when characters left, to move on to other shows or for contract disputes, or just not feeling the show, it was always nice that the parting was amicable enough that they were able to bring the actors back. Since you started TNG, it inspired, though tbf not much arm twisting was required, to rewatch all of DS9 and ENT. So, thank you for that as well. This finale is regarded as one of the best to ever do it. Series finals are always to hard; to wrap everything up, and also tell their own story, while not diving headfirst into nostalgia bait, it is why they the near totally of the time they never work. There has been much written over the years about this Finale, and would highly encourage the reading. If you so desire, when you are home in Canada the next time, there is an "episode" after "All Good Things" available on Canadian netflix, that is a retrospective narrated by Riker himself. Highly recommend. I have not checked if it was on your "already watched list" but as for getting emotional at the end, I cannot recommend strongly enough NOT watching "Six Feet Under" a most excellent show, but hoo boy that series finale just rips out all the emotions. 5 straight min of being an emotional mess while watching. Filmmaking, isn't it magical. Once again, thanks for this. On to the silver screen.

I get the feeling there are mostly traditionalist Trekkie fans on here, Walter, which is probably why nobody's rushing to comment on one of the new shows. For me personally, real Trek ended with the Enterprise series, which was ok but kind of proved that the franchise had run its course. With the exception of "Picard", which brought back one of our most beloved characters, what's come since has had the 2010s grubby fingerprints all over it. The only new one I've even tried to watch is "Discovery" and after three episodes I binned it. You might think that's no kind of fair shake, but in those three episodes I saw everything I can't stand about contemporary Hollywood. As for whether or not to watch the first two seasons of Picard, why skip them? I understand Cassie skipping them, but you have all the time in the world, so take a look and see how they strike you. Season 3 is definitely superior, and a great end to the Picard story, but I don't remember the first two being that bad.

This was just amazing. I remember watching this when it originally aired with my mom. It was a few months before my 10th birthday and my mom was pregnant with my sister Deanna(named after Deanna Troi). 1994 was a very important year for our family. I'm one of the few who genuinely love all the TNG movies. Insurrection & Nemesis aren't as good but there are character moments that I love so much in those movies. I'm expecting a lot of smiling when you get to them. Hopefully you'll have time to do Generations this month but if not I understand. Just hoping for my next Star Trek fix🤣 I do agree that both you and the channel will need a break but I hope you'll come back to Trek and take us along with you. Modern Trek doesn't feels quite the same(Except Season 3 of Picard)but I LOVE EVERYTHING from TNG all the way through to Enterprise with Scott Bakula. Same thing happened to me in the US. I have paramount subscription through my amazon account and for some reason the last episode I had to pay for it? But paramount's version was the aired version and Cassie had extra scenes. Frustrating but made it work.

Season 3 was made by Terry Matalis after the producers said 'Do what you want' after 2 dismal failed seasons. Turns out Matalis was an actual Star Trek veteran (Voyager) and the result was a great stand alone limited series(Season 3) made by a fan that any TNG fan should watch. There is only a couple of characters you may not know from Seasons 1 and 2 but that doesn't really remain an issue after the first episode.

Yet, I will quote Leonard Nimoy who I agee with here: Star Trek (2009) has "great heart with the characters. ... capture[s] the essence of the fun of the Star Trek characters, the chemistry between the people, the excitement of becoming part of that crew and going out on this adventure. ... I was pleased with how they treated the Spock character. I thought that they really got it. ... I was very happy to see Zachary Quinto take over the character. No, I agree with you Patrick. The Kelvin timeline is trash and Abrams is a hack who has destroyed 2 IPs. They are just glorified action set pieces with hectic pacing and overused lens flares to distract you from the fact that the plots and scripts are so weak, stolen, or just plane bad. No reason to shout anyone down over a difference of opinion. I think the movies are pretty great entertainment. They lack the more thoughtful storytelling of any of the series, but they were made to be 2 hour chunks of entertainment and they succeed in that regard.

Loved this reaction and watch along. Its been a great journey. Some real highlights with tender moments at times. Now having said that if there are any other Canadians watching the Canadian Paramount plus versions where its split into two parts, it doesn't line up with Cassie's reaction. You will have to start and stop your way through it a few times as things go out of sync. It's watchable but frustrating at times. Still enjoyed it . Count me in as one that wouldn't mind an occasional TNG missed episode bonus once in awhile on the patreon. There's lots of great stuff that you missed along the way.

I am one who considers Deep Space Nine to be the best Trek series. For whatever reason, I didn't love The Next Generation in the beginning, and always considered Voyager the second best Trek series. Over the years, TNG has grown on me though and I appreciate it more and more.

30 years ago when this series ended, I was only 16 and I felt the same as you Cassie. I still had DS9 and Voyager was starting soon but it wasn't the same. I loved these characters and actors. Luckily I got a little bit more from some of the actors in the form of an animated series called Gargoyles.

Over the entirety of DS9 there are maybe a dozen stand alone episodes that have nothing to do with ongoing plots, that is episodes without the, A, B, C, or even D stories tying into a larger plot line. There are far too many plots and sub-plots throughout the whole run to break it down into 4 episodes a season. I did a recent rewatch, around when Cassie was starting Season 2 of TNG. The show was serialised as it was for a reason. Let Cassie continue on hr ST journey on hr own time. Unless it is a 100% completion reaction, then too much of what makes DS9, DS9 will be lost by cutting out episodes.

As First Contact is the second best TNG movie ;) that bar is lower to clear. But yes, it is the second best. I wish the community had not chosen "Parallels," as they two are near identical treatments. Always felt like that episode spoiled the fun of the Final.

If there ever was a Voyager watch, much in the same way as TNG, i would refine it further, and say only go with he 2-part episodes. For some reason they really nailed those. I also agree with you fully on DS9. It does not reach the highs or lows of TNG, but over all it is at a high average of consistency than TNG. Looking at today's shows and their budgets and then at DS9 with the sets and the huge cast and extras, It is hard to imagine each episode costing less than 10m to make these days. Its heavily serialized nature, results in the requirement begin fully watch through. There are only a dozen or so episodes in the whole series that do not have an aspect of the A,B,C, or D plot that is not connect to larger story threads.

I think (1) ending ST on the channel completely after the Pine movies, or (2) reacting to Picard S3 in the distant future, or (3) reacting to Picard S3 immediately after the Pine movies are all acceptable options -- her choice/decision. I agree with you in that I do think at least a little break may be good if she decided to do Picard S3. Instead of doing any ST shortly after the Pine movies, she could return to Star Wars if she wants. I suggest Andor -- my favorite Star Wars series even more than The Mandalorian that I very much liked. ANDOR (2022) (1-season, 12 episodes) (8 Emmy® nominations including Outstanding Drama Series) (prequel to Rogue One). Stellan Skarsgård (e.g., of Chernobyl fame) is awesome in the series. Of course, Diego Luna is great.

I know you don't feel you can watch it but the next Trek series Deep Space Nine I believe is generally regarded as the best Trek series, it is to me. But while there are many stand alone episodes overall the series becomes a huge serialized arc and just watching a few episodes per season will not work, it needs to be viewed in entirety. The next Trek series Voyager is back to episodic and does work for limited episode views. While not regarded as top tier overall it does still have great episodes and a stand out character.

OK... for Geordi's wife Leah you need to watch Season 3 Episode 6 "Booby Trap" and Season 4 Episode 16 "Galaxy's Child". It was the Continuum that caused the problem (Anti Time paradox) in order to test humanity and it was "Q" who decided to help out as much as he was allowed to. It is why he was only giving vague answers and riddles. You see, once you understand "Q" you have to love him a little. He gets even better development in Star Trek: Voyager. There are a lot of great episodes that you should go back and watch. Many of the missed poll ones would be good but I would also recommend you watch all of the ones with Deana's Mother Lwaxana Troi (played by Majel Barrett who was also Nurse Chapel/Number One in TOS and Gene's wife): S1.E10 “Haven”, S2.E19 “Manhunt”, S3.E24 “Menage a Troi”, S4.E22 “Half a Life”, S5.E20 “Cos of Living”, and S7.E7 “Dark Page”. I think you will get a kick out of her. ;) P.S. Have you introduced Carly to Firefly yet?

Awesome reaction. Thank you much for reacting to TNG episodes this year. The Picard series S3 has been labeled as essentially TNG S8. (You don't need Picard S1 or Picard S2 to watch Picard S3.) Picard S3 is just fine as a standalone. The TNG movie "First Contact" is excellent. You should like the TNG movie "Generations." After the TNG movies, I am definitely looking forward to the Chris Pine ST trilogy. Slick and entertaining.

I agree with Leonard Nimoy's comments: Star Trek (2009) has "great heart with the characters. ... capture[s] the essence of the fun of the Star Trek characters, the chemistry between the people, the excitement of becoming part of that crew and going out on this adventure. ... I was pleased with how they treated the Spock character. I thought that they really got it. ... I was very happy to see Zachary Quinto take over the character. I like Rakesh's idea, I like Laura's, and mine is clearly a stroke of unprecedented brilliance! I don't think she needs to sample DS9 for us to know she'll like it. She'll love the characters and the story is superb. She just needs a break for a while and she'll be raring to go again.

DS9 could probably work if we forget the seasons and just highlight, let's say, 25/35 episodes for the entire show (which is close to how many TNG episodes we got, 4 per season plus the two part season finale/start episodes). Its a lot to pick out all together, but if we split up DS9 into 'arcs' that could work. Seasons 1-3 are mostly the same arc (getting to know the crew and the situation), Seasons 4-6 are another arc (the development of the story) and Season 7 is the final arc (wrapping things up) - picking ten episodes from each 'arc' would be manageable. But we do need time to breath. Maybe suggest just watching Emissary (the first two episodes) to see if she vibes with it.

It's possible to watch "key episodes," which is between the full series and 4 per season. It's just that the 4 per season rule is unworkable on a series that has arcs. For example, season 1 only requires "Emissary" to be watched. Season 7 has around 10 episodes. As for watching more Trek, there has to be a fine balance between the needs of the many and the needs of the few or the one. Yeah, I know you see what I did there! It's not just others who don't want to see Trek; it's Cassie and her time and resources. I was mulling over the idea of a Cassie "uncut" patron exclusive YouTube playlist. She said she'll probably watch the rest by herself. Why not record, but there's no need for editing? It's like she did it when she first started, so there's no pressure on when she watches or paying for an editor. It's just watch as is, when she has time for an episode. And if she wants to release it to the general public on YouTube at a later date, she can. It’s probably a good idea to store up some movies/TV shows and release them when she has a holiday or emergencies that prevent her from watching her scheduled releases when life gets in the way.

I know what you're saying, Rakesh, and I would love to say, "Hell, watch them all, then you'll get the full experience!" But she can't swamp the channel like that, so my suggestion is 4 to 5 episodes, with someone giving her a summary e-mail of the in-betweens as she goes along. Of course she'll miss a lot, but she's done that while watching TNG too. With a summary, she'll at least understand everything that's going on. The best solution is probably a dedicated channel. She could then watch the entire DS9 series without missing any episodes. What would be the rush?

IMHO DS9 can't be watched 4 EPs per season. Not possible. It's definitely skewed more to season 4567. I've checked the seasons of what EPs could reasonably be skipped and it's no way 4. If I get the time I'll jot it down. But I think there will definitely be a long break after the movies. I do hope she watches S3 of Picard, it's like watching all the Rocky movies except for the last one. Has to be done.

To see someone get so into this series which means so much to me is just ...well just brings me joy. As an aside, my son (37 yrs old) was such a Trekkie growing up that we had a cat named Geordi LaForge. Also this one time when my son was 4(?) he fell and scraped his knee. He came to me and said "I've sustained minor damage to my outer hull" ...while at the same time crying. But I digress. Just think of what you have coming...you can't imagine the feeling...seeing ol friends...like seeing WORF again in the new series...still played by Michael Dorn and looking as formidable as ever. Cassie, this has been said before, but I'm going to say it again because I think quite a few of us Trekkies think it's a good idea. It's no secret that you haven't just enjoyed your Trek journey, you've had a truly great time with it these past few months. So why should it end? With respect for those who don't like Trek and/or have struggled with the volume of it, I think it's right that you should watch the TNG and Pine films but then have a LONG break from anything in the Trek universe. Maybe set a date of 19th September 2025 before you can upload another Trek video. After that, you can do the whole thing again, because there are plenty of great episodes you didn't get to this time and plenty we would love to watch with you. There's also the brilliant Deep Space 9 series, which CAN be watched 4 episodes per season without losing the thread of the story arc and I've already explained how. Me or somebody else will keep you updated on the in-betweens as you go along. You've also got Voyager, with Trek's first female captain, the Picard series, not to mention some of the good TOS episodes you missed. I promise you will love it all. I realise all of that will give people on both sides of the argument some anxiety, but, given how much fun it's been for Cassie, it has to be addressed. To the Trek fans (like me) who can't get enough, we really can't expect her to keep on going after the Pine movies without a significant break. She's given us so much already. It has to be a long break too, because it's been a long journey for those who didn't want it. For those who don't like it and want it to end, you're absolutely right - a long break is required. But Cassie has truly loved experiencing this franchise and the world it encapsulates, so it would be unfair to say she could never come back. Maybe, Cassie, given the fact that you'll have half a million subscribers by next October, it would be time to create a second channel just for what Mike accurately refers to as "long-ass series". You know you'd have a lot of supporters for it, and you could just immerse yourself in Trek to your (and our) heart's content.

So I know we joined late and didn't get to watch 5 seasons with you guys totally my fault. Anyway when we watched this like a month or two ago. We both had tears in our eyes. We couldn't wait to watch the movies. We loved First Contact. We really didn't like Genesis but thought you would love it. The rest yeah we are getting way ahead of ourselves. First Contact is a decent Star Trek movie. We just think and after talking with many people here. We can't wait for the Chris Pine movies those are so dang awesome. We were absolutely blown away. We kept asking everyone have you seen these? My brother in law hugged us both saying finally you guys get it. Yeah he can be kind of weird sometimes but that's why we love him. For Cassie for the last two seasons and I think we may go watch more. Just so we can be "true fans" we have enjoyed the laugher, the unbelievable and enjoyable characters. The sometimes tears. However Cassie I think I can speak for the both of us she is asleep with her or our cat Akira on her but that's why you have us. I actually watched this back near to the time it aired instead of having to wait 6 months as was the time for it to arrive on VHS in the UK. I guy I knew at my part-time job had a friend in the states who recorded it and he lent me the tape so I could watch. A fantastic ending. I think probably top 3 of endings of all the shows I've watched. I stupidly lent out the tape of a different friend of mine who taped over it by accident , and that was after I broke the little tab of the tape to prevent rerecording! 🤣 Was gutted it ended, but DS9 was still on TV so it wasn't all bad, because the baton had passed. Sisko definitely a different kind of commander, different but really good.

I have watched the ending scene 100s of times. Rikers, "get a load of this guy" look when Picard says he played poker in his youth. The "You were always welcome" line, always gets me in the feels.
