Happy Fall All!!

Hope you had a great week! Ours was actually pretty uneventful, which was very nice for a change. My parents are coming to visit this week which we are so excited about. They are coming for the peaches and apples here, we are a nice bonus haha! September is going 300mph and I’m going to need the temps to drop (just a little) so I can fully enjoy it.

This week we have the official end to our TNG show journey, trying to decide if I could squeeze one of the movies in before Scary but not too Scary October! We also have our Runner Up Poll winners-Hot Fuzz (go Benji) and The Highlander (Hey, I did love OUTlander?!)

We will have a Halloween Poll coming this week already?! See? September is practically over, time for Halloween and Thanksgiving!! MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!!

To review-Patreon Pop Quiz Trivia will be 9/30

Thanks for the awesome poster Dave

Annnnndddd thhhheennn YT LIVE 10/4, costume party for one too!!

Hope you all have the best week, may you have lots of fall soup and lots of fall adjacent movies/tv!!

Oooh actually tell me and all of us in the comments what are your fav cozy fall-adjacent movies/tv! I’m basic and love Gilmore Girls every fall! And When Harry Met Sally, Remember the Titans, I’ll definitely be rewatching Practical Magic and October Sky!

Love your socks off,

Cassie

Comments

Interstellar is on Netflix just fyi. So is Due Date for that matter

John A

The Universal Classic Monsters are some of my favorites. She did the Frankenstein; I am still waiting for the Bride of Frankenstein.

Eddie Perkins

I have never seen a reaction to Legend (1985), and along with myself, I know a lot of people who love that movie.

Eddie Perkins

I loved Falling Down

Eddie Perkins

She makes things a lot more horrifying in her mind than they actually are.

Eddie Perkins

For a Halloween type Star Trek TNG episode I would recommend S7E19 "Genesis"

NJC

"Falling Down" was a great one. Love the scene with the construction guys and the closed street. :)

bgb1975

"The Cowboys" would be a good one. Bruce Dern was great.

bgb1975

Cassie did say she and Carly used to watch Abbott & Costello as kids. I would have thought that was before her time but I'm sure her dad had something to do with that.

Shawn Kildal

I uses to play that soundtrack a ton. Vastly underrated.

Shawn Kildal

I don't think people like lesser quality movies. The real problem is people are close minded about movies. Many younger people don't want to give older movies a chance. But by the same token many older people don't want to give newer movies a chance. People in general don't like to go outside their comfort zones.

Richard Maurer

Except for one scene I think Cassie would have no issue watching Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the Shining.

John P Tucker

Haven't seen that vid yet. Is that the only Wes Anderson on the channel?

Chris Thom

I don't think I'd want her to watch this much even of a franchise I loved.

Chris Thom

Cassie has her boundaries, mostly demonic stuff. She has tackled a few films I never thought she'd get anywhere near. I'm just happy she does any horror/horror-lite films in October at all. She could simply skip it all. Cassie may secretly like "scary October" (haha).

Joe

Silver Bullet, Bad Moon would be some other good picks.

John P Tucker

I' m curious to see what's in the poll. Hoping it will make me smile, afraid it will make me punch the wall

Richard Maurer

If you plan on watching Transformers One on this channel in the future, then you should watch some, if not all, of season one and two of the original cartoon from the 80's. And then you HAVE to watch the 1986 movie on the channel. Watch the movie before watching season 3.

Michael Martinez

You could do a reaction to the Lonesome Dove miniseries now that TNG is over.

John P Tucker

TV series, yes, movies: bring it on!

Odd Thomas

I hope Cassie will share with us soon what is firmed up for scary October. If she watches Hill House, Constantine, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978 (promised), I'll be a happy camper. If The Fly and IT: Chapter 2 happen, all the better.

Joe

I'm good with that.

Mike Lemon

Cassie has such a back log of promised horror movies she could practically do Halloween without a poll.

Richard Maurer

Lololol

Marvin dishman

There can be only one! 😂 Cue the Queen music.

John P Tucker

I said the same thing. It’s less horror and more like Dracula is a cursed superhero.

John P Tucker

At least spread them out a bit. Maybe one a month? It took about a year to get reactions to all 4 Lethal Weapons.

Brent Petty

She's hinted that it is on the schedule.

Mike Lemon

I would also recommend "Dracula Untold"

NJC

Please no more Star Trek

David Bunnetto

Cassie, are you going to watch episodes from all the Star Trek Series? Deep Space 9, Voyager, and Enterprise?

NJC

@Clarence - not quite, but that did cause me to think less of her. I did end up leaving her patreon but that had more to do with her toxic community than her film opinions. But I'm still subscribed to her YT channel, though I don't watch it that much, only for certain things ( like Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Richard Maurer

Ooooh, a reactor who doesn't like LOTR? That's an instant unsubscribe for you, isn't it, Richard?

Clarence Newman

Hugh Jackman’s “Van Helsing” would be a not so scary movie.

John P Tucker

Yeah I don’t know if she could handle the ending.

John P Tucker

Will this Halloween be the year Cassie finally watches The Fly?

Aaron Ritchie

What I'm saying is Halloween is for Horror films especially here on Cassies' channel as they don't really get watched outside of October. And every year before Halloween we have to deal with people who insist that whatever vaguely horror adjacent film they want to see is a "Halloween" film . On one hand it's annoying, on the other it does sometimes lead to fun arguments.

Richard Maurer

I remember Ashleigh Burton doing a reaction to It's a MMMM World and not liking it. But, considering she didn't like LotR or the Godfather that much, you really can't go by her taste in films.

Richard Maurer

The following is what I like from your list: The Fly (1958) Cat People (1982) --- "This being the newer version" Cujo (1983) The Hitcher (1986) They Live (1988) Predator 2 (1990) From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) Event Horizon (1997) --- "Might be too scary" Blade (1998) Death Proof (2007) The Mist (2007)

Ron

Oh that's right. Get it mixed up with Around the World in 80 days.

Chris Thom

I think you should include Carly in your October Sky rewatch.

John Mulbury

We're with you, Byrd. I'd be happy to drown in Star Trek myself, but fair is fair.

Clarence Newman

She's seen that one.

Clarence Newman

Shirley she has already.

Clarence Newman

Haloween Movies: Happy Death Day 1 & 2 Freaky Totally Killer All scary, but also funny.

NSG MMA

@Jef I recognize your name, do I know you from something big??

Zach McGrath

You realize it’s a matter of taste, right? Plenty of people watch scary movies at Halloween that aren’t horror. No one said Star Trek was horror, you’re projecting that.

Zach McGrath

No it isn't. Lord of the Rings has ghosts, undead Ringwraiths, giant spider demons, and various other monsters - still Not a horror movie.

Richard Maurer

Cassie strongly implied she was going to watch the The Fly this year. I also read that she said she'd be doing It: Chapter 2.

Richard Maurer

It fits in fine. It’s a freaking zombie movie, after all.

Jef Etters

It's a 1963 "race to the prize" comedy with a multitude of stars - Spencer Tracy, Phil Silvers, Terry Thomas, Sid Ceasar, Johnathan Winters, Buddy Hackett, Mickey Rooney, Milton Berle, Ethel Merman and a slew of other big names of the screen that make cameos. It's really a classic.

bgb1975

Really hoping for a break from Star Trek now that TNG is done (outside of the remaining 4 movies).

Byrd N. Hand

@Rene -- Agreed. She can't keep sidestepping hard horror films forever, given all these 'not too scary' titles she'd burned through in the last few years. Also, given that "The Fly" lost her last October poll last year by a single vote, Cassie may feel obligated to watch it for sure this year.

Byrd N. Hand

But at what cost? He said, dramatically.

Richard Maurer

🤞 Carly watches highlander

Marvin dishman

@Joe The Mist somehow made a poll last Halloween. I was torn between The Mist and The Fly. I ended going with The Fly because of the one obvious reason you mentioned.

Richard Maurer

Absolutely true! https://www.cbr.com/star-trek-spooky-halloween-episodes/

Zach McGrath

Yes, nothing says Halloween like Star Trek. And for next Valentine's Day we can watch 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Richard Maurer

Not sure I've heard of it. Is that an 80's movie with Steve Martin?

Chris Thom

I think we can all agree Cassie and Carly need to watch both those movies.

James Allder

Oh dang. With your comment I finally get that 'I spit on your garage' quote in Scream. Didn't know that was reference.

Chris Thom

Or how about The Fly, Brood, Videodrome

Rene G.

I'll give Hellraiser, REC, the Descent, Hills have Eyes, last house on the left, I Spit on Your GRave

Rene G.

Pretty soon, she'll be running out of "not too scary" movies cos 99% of horror stuff aren't fitting that quote!

Rene G.

If '80 nostalgia bait is a recurring problem, then I recommend watching Kung Fury. It will cure that which ails you.

ArsTropica

... and we will have that reaction ... in this life or the next!

ArsTropica

Pitch Black would make a good candidate for October's Scary but not too Scary, well, actually... quite scary entry.

ArsTropica

There was another channel that tried reacting to the full series, but they stopped midway through season 2. Certain episodes didn't age well at all... but it could have worked with a top 4/5 episodes per season quota.

ArsTropica

Okay you win.

Dan M

Super excited about Hot Fuzz! Also, BTW, just watched the full length reaction to The Grand Budapest Hotel…great reaction to a great movie! @Cassie-check out Royal Tennenbaums, a fantastic Wes Anderson film.

Aaron A. Aaronson

everyone would love this, great recommendation.

David

People seem to like lesser quality movies nowadays

V M

Oh we will hound her until she does. But as Djimon Hounsou says in Gladiator: "Not yet.....not yet."

Clarence Newman

A genuinely funny film! She'll love it.

Clarence Newman

Edward Scissorhands and Practical Magic are on the channel if you haven't seen them yet.

Chris Thom

Richard, Lee & Cushing were always great together in any film. Cushing was a gamer and went solo for that last one "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires". Maybe one too many (haha).

Joe

Funny thing about "You've Got Mail" and its sister film, "Sleepless In Seattle". In "Sleepless" I thought Meg's character was not suitable for Tom (too ditzy). In "Mail", I thought Tom's character wasn't right for Meg (too corporate-minded).

Clarence Newman

Soon Star Trek Generations!

RJ MacReady

It is allowed, Chris, but only thrice in one comment thread. Therefore, having already endorsed Dead Poets Society thrice once, I am now going to endorse it thrice more twice more. Come on, Cassie. That's 9 endorsements in one thread (10 including Michael's). You cannot ignore such a landslide, even if ArsTrop is correct and you've already cheated on us by watching it off channel!

Clarence Newman

Fright Night (1985) would be great, I've also been keeping "The Fog (1980) on her radar. I don't think either film could win a poll.

Joe

really hoping for star trek deep space nine now TNG is done

john reed

I loved the series, but can't see Cassie staying engaged at all for a 100+ episodes.

Joe

That movie would crush her for one obvious reason, so no-go on that one.

Joe

I rewatched Highlander a couple of months ago and enjoyed it.

Clay F

PiB - ya gotta watch "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"! Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!

bgb1975

Highlander is a rip-roaring good time, I never noticed any aging problems with the film (haha).

Joe

October halloween movies: Chucky, Clockwork Orange, Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street 2-5, Exorcist (I don't care if she refuses, it's mandatory), REC, The Craft, The Descent.

Rene G.

That poster has to get sold on the merch site! HAHA

David

Fingers crossed that Carley watches Hot Fuzz with you.

D.M. Lipkin

Yeah, I lost my nostalgia goggles somewhere along the line, so now when I go back and watch 80's movies my reaction a lot of the time is ' what was I thinking?'.

Richard Maurer

As for Hammers' Dracula films, Christopher Lee himself only liked the first three - Horror of D, D, Prince of Darkness, and D Has Rosen From the Grave. I agree with him except that I do enjoy the forth one, Taste the Blood of D, but still it's not as good as the first three. Lee basically did three after that as a favor to the people at Hammer, as they were getting into financial trouble at that point. I wouldn't mind Arsenic and Old Lace being on a horror comedy poll, mostly because I know it would lose. But what I do mind is having a horror comedy poll at all, as most of the good ones have been done already.

Richard Maurer

If you enjoyed Remember the Titans, I recommend the true story We Are Marshall as well!

MN Bully

"Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall".

Richard Maurer

Yes, and no. It's a fall movie but more of a horror movie. So, since Cassie asked for non-horror fall movies it doesn't qualify.

Richard Maurer

The series(minus the last season that was godawful) is also really good and would make for a great reaction series

Paul-Mihail Draghioiu

What a fantastic week's lineup! My fall movies tend to be Halloween movies. Hocus Pocus, The Haunted Mansion, that kind of thing.

BibbitduBois

That's the one, I knew it eyes in it and 3 items long, but couldn't tell you other the bits.

Mojo One Thousand

Chris Thom, British kids telly in the 70’s and 80’s at its best!😂😂😂

Mark White

She won't watch Children of the Corn, Joel. She has a mild panic attack every time she sees a corn field in a movie and always mentions that one by way of explanation.

Clarence Newman

Mostly, but the morlocks push it over.

Clarence Newman

Star Trek First Contact would be great for Halloween season

Zach McGrath

My autumn must watch list each year is feel-good cozy films: Dan In Real Life, Mystic Pizza, You've Got Mail, Over The Garden Wall, Juno, Penelope, The Village, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Edward Scissorhands, Wolfwalkers, Mona Lisa Smile, and Practical Magic.

VirtuallyVeronicka

And the author of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" who told people not to read the book but rather to go watch the movie because it was a lot better.

Galaeanyss Freyja

I agree, the novel for “The Host” was also much better than the movie adaptations. As is almost always the case, save for LOTR.

Cole Jennett

~I~ wanted to sleep for six months after watching "Glitter". Didn't care for "Twilight". I liked "The Host" better. The book, anyway. The movie cut most of the interesting parts.

Galaeanyss Freyja

In the last extra butter chat, Cassie saw me suggest Fright Night and wrote it down, so maybe...

V M

Love the music for the spinning scene. Epic.

Chris Thom

Oh interesting. I think I rented the director's cut and then a week later the original came on HBO. Was coming off a pretty bad long weekend bender and that Tangerine Dream soundtrack and song hit me so hard and got me freakishly emotional. Just what I needed. Now my forever comfort movie.

Chris Thom

Demi Moore has really been making the rounds on press tours lately and she's talked a ton about St. Elmo's Fire. That was her very first movie. She still looks amazing. Even better than when she was young.

Chris Thom

If you treat them like a high budget soap opera they're not too bad. Low expectations help a lot.

Chris Thom

Highlander!!!! At last!!!! OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!

Keith Jones

OK, the prime version is the Directors Cut. Ignore the runtime on the preview screen, it shows theatrical runtime. But actually watching it is the longer DC runtime.

Brian's Dog

I actually loved the first Twilight movie, and especially the books.

Cole Jennett

Yes, yes, and YES!! A perfect movie for Scary But Not Too Scary October. A nice blend of spooky, jump scares, laughs, and practical effects. I’ve recommended it a couple of times.

Dan M

Dead Poet’s Society! An excellent fall film.

Dan M

Such a good movie…but it will have Cassie watching half of it from behind her blanket.

Dan M

The thumbnail for the movie doesn’t have “with Carly” on it, so I’m assuming it will be just Cassie.

Dan M

“I watched the entire Twilight saga straight in a single setting.” Did you have to pry your eyes open like they did to Alex in A Clockwork Orange?

Dan M

Oh yeah, I’ve seen it. About a dozen times now 😁. It’s one of my favorite reactions to one of my favorite movies.

Dan M

Yeah actually it was pretty well done. I think I always associate it with the problems during production where it took two years after filming for the studio to release it. But that really has no bearing on the quality of it. The bratty girl with the wings does drive me up the wall a bit.

Chris Thom

The director's cut does have a few extra scenes that I like but overall I prefer the U.S. theatrical version. Thats the version that has the Tangerine Dream soundtrack and the song Loved by the Sun. In the director's cut the soundtrack is done by Jerry Goldsmith.

My_Cousin_Mose

For movies that are Fall adjacent, I thought of the leaves on the trees in Rivendell in the Fellowship of the Ring. Then I guess I would think of the pumpkins in the first few Harry Potter movies, and Leatherheads (another sports movie you should watch).

Jakob Rygh

She has an October Sky reaction if you haven't seen it yet.

Chris Thom

Would be fun if they showed up to the premiere chat.

Chris Thom

Not from UK but I would also like to casually use 'thrice'. Or at all. Not sure if its allowed.

Chris Thom

The Lothlorien and Rivendell scenes feel like fall for sure.

Chris Thom

Found it on YouTube. What in the holy hell was going on over there? Feeding LSD to children is a CRIME. That snail with the scarf is the newest star of my nightmares. Don't get me started on the stringy lion. lol

Chris Thom

When you watch Hot Fuzz, just try to keep in mind that it is meant to be over the top, as it is meant to make fun of action cop movies.

Yaisu

That Glitter press tour was insanity. Mariah had to go to sleep for six months after.

Chris Thom

Yeah, now that you say it I do remember her saying the catch phrase during sports movies(Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose) but since I hadn't seen the show at that point I'd forgotten

Katie Jackson

I don't have a favorite Fall Movie. I do have a Halloween Tradition of watching Scary Movies. Not movies that are intentionally scary, but rather movies whose very notion of having to watch it scares me. "Glitter" "Crossroads" I once watched the entire "Twilight" Saga straight in a single sitting. I dreaded having to do that all month. I am not a Girly Girl.

Galaeanyss Freyja

Brian, if the director’s cut is the one with the restored World War 2 scene than that is the version currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Most times that is the version used, but that is not certain.

Steve Holton

I thought the same :)

Clay F

@Thin White Duke - I’ll take Explorers (1985) and Innerspace (1987) as well.

Larry Darrell

Cassie is definitely familiar with "Friday Night Lights"... it was her reference for Connie Britton when she watched "This is where I leave you"... "the mom from Friday night lights" and I am sure she has also used Kyle Chandler's character's catchphrase in sports movie reactions... I know of it, but don't know it as I have never watched it myself.

Mojo One Thousand

It's winter turning into spring here, so October has different vibes... but despite that I don't think I rewatch movies based on the season... I usually just go to old faithful comedies or action or the best of both worlds, action/comedies.

Mojo One Thousand

@Chris - I heard the 1960s Batman series theme song in my head after reading your All Capped reply ;-)

Larry Darrell

Is her copy of Highlander Theatrical or Director's? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the streaming and physical releases in the US are both Director's. I just wanted to get prepped. Thanks!

Brian's Dog

I'm probably due for a rewatch of "Dan in real life" so that may happen soon, even though it winter turning into spring where I am.

Mojo One Thousand

Just noticed the Shining twins taunting her in the background. That's a nice touch.

Chris Thom

Julia Roberts is a fall kind of actress somehow. I think it's because her hair looks like the seasons changing.

Chris Thom

The Fellowship must have set out in Sept/Oct because when Frodo wakes up in Rivendell its Oct 24th, so yeah these are fall movies!

Louisa Moritz

@Mike - Why I didn’t include Bride of Frankenstein (1935)? I want Cassie to see all of the early Universal Monster Movies, definitely I do. But at the rate that she watches Horror Films, let alone how often she watches Classic films, I didn’t want to include something that she would see and then say, “ooh, well I got to include that.” Then it goes to a Classic Poll and very likely wins. Then we wait until next year, and she watches the next Frankenstein movie, maybe. Also, IMO, the Universal Horror films are not indicative of some of the best films from this time period. They’re absolutely some of the best in their genre, but this is not Cassie’s favorite genre. I’d prefer Cassie see some other films from this period that are more likely going to make her WANT to do more Classic film polls. So I went with an Oscar winning film, a Spooky Old House film with a bit of Everything, a Technicolor film from 1933, a unique vampire film (not Dracula), and a Sherlock Holmes movie featuring maybe the best actor to play Sherlock… Basil Rathbone. Hound of the Baskervilles totally works for the season too. In the same realm as Sleepy Hollow. Another reason is I didn’t want to list a hundred movies either… which I almost did ;-) And some of those early films I’d prefer Cassie see sooner rather than later… All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) Animal Crackers (1930) City Lights (1931) The Public Enemy (1931) Platinum Blonde (1931) Monkey Business (1931) Red Dust (1932) I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932) Trouble in Paradise (1932) Horse Feathers (1932) Duck Soup (1933) Baby Face (1933) Bombshell (1933) Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933) Design for Living (1933) The Thin Man (1934) Cleopatra (1934) The Count of Monte Cristo (1934) Twentieth Century (1934) The 39 Steps (1935) Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) Captain Blood (1935) Top Hat (1935) A Night at the Opera (1935) A Tale of Two Cities (1935) Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935) Geeez… I’m just realizing there are a ton of films, just in 1935, that I would Love for Cassie to see before, Bride of Frankenstein (1935). I know it’s October and Halloween, but I hope She gets to see the Non-Horror side of the early 30s sometime. It Happened One Night (1934) was a Great Reaction, but there’s still a lot more to offer… when She’s ready.

Larry Darrell

Yeah, "Hand that rocks the cradle " and "Sleeping with the enemy" would both qualify for PIB October movies in my opinion, my option which is somewhat adjacent to both is "Dead Calm".

Mojo One Thousand

They do an Autumn feel about them don't they?

Frank Edwards

Yes, I actually really enjoyed Battleship. A really fun action movie

Katie Jackson

Is Hotfuzz going to be a solo react?

Mario

Wouldn't that fall under classic sci-fi rather than horror?

Richard Maurer

Katie, other than X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Lone Survivor, I don’t think she has seen anything else with him in it. But I can think one one that I hope she does watch eventually…Battleship.

Dan M

That’s what I meant. You can kill 2 birds with one stone. It qualifies as a fall movie and a horror movie.

Dan M

Usually I'll watch The Cowboys 1972. Having John Wayne say the line "Summer's Over" always put me in that pre fall like mood. I hope Dracula 1931 will be on the list for halloween. Another great one I think you would enjoy is the halloween comedy Ernest Scared Stupid 1991. It was my hocus pocus film, that I grew up with, and still watch it every year. Thank you again, and glad all is well Cassie.

Brian Wood

@Richard - I love movies and I’ve seen probably WAY more than most people my age, but there are still some areas that I haven’t gotten to. I am ashamed to say that I have not seen, Horror of Dracula (1958). I have seen, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), Dracula (1931) and most of its sequels, and I have seen a few of the Hammer Films’ Dracula movies with Christopher Lee (Risen From the Grave/Taste the Blood/A.D. 1972). Of course I have seen Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), and a bunch of other various Vampire films. The honest truth is I’ve never been the biggest fan of Vampire films or Dracula. I like them, but when making a list, they usually don’t rank very high, which is why it has taken me so long to get to some of these. I like Vampire films with a unique twist more than variations on the Dracula tale. I’ve spent the past couple Octobers working my way through the Universal’s Classic Monsters 30 Film Box Set. I’ve always wanted to work my way through the Hammer Films Horror Catalog. I just may start that this year. :-) I’m thinking of starting with, The Curse of Frankenstein (1957)… which I have seen before. — I was pretty sure I remembered The Omen (1976) was on the No No List, but I figured it’s still worth mentioning, just so it’s not forgotten. You Never No. — Mike and I are Dead Set on getting Cassie to watch Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). It’s a Perfect Film for getting Cassie more excited about Classic Films and it’s a Perfect Film for Halloween. The Opening Prologue Screen Text even reads… “This is a Halloween tale of Brooklyn, where anything can happen— and it usually does.” It’s also one of the funniest films ever made too. — When I added The Mist into the Stephen King list, it helped make the list be an even 10 films. I thought about adding Doctor Sleep (2019), but it’s kinda like the other pea from the pod, if you know what I mean. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in the Reaction, but hopefully if it winds up in a Poll again, there will be great competition.

Larry Darrell

School of Rock is my early fall/back-to-school tradition. And of course, I also celebrate Bilbo's birthday on Sept. 22 with The Fellowship of the Ring.

Silver Machine

That's a good characterization. I have nostalgia for Highlander (1986). Below is a quote I save for certain movies. “It's a movie best seen through the hazy amber filter of '80s nostalgia, and if you're watching it without those rose-colored glasses on, God help you.”

Clay F

Yeah, avoid the sequels.

Clay F

Mystic Pizza is an excellent Autumn movie - one of Julia Roberts' first movies that I think you and Carly would both really love. It's about sisters, romance and pizza!

Nick Ireland

As a fresh 50 I can say with some confidence it may've only just seemed that way.

Jay Davis

For a moment there, I thought you mean the 1981 film Outland... but nobody loved that movie... or did they?

Jay Davis

I think she is going to react to The Fly. Just not sure when.

Clay F

I like ‘Meet The Parents’

Clay F

Movies that start with H for $100, Alex. This 2016 film stars Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges. What is Hell or High Water, Alex? Correct. Pick again.

Jay Davis

Agree

Clay F

Yeah, Nemesis is not the greatest. To me, the only excellent TNG movie is First Contact. Of course, Cassie should like Generations.

Clay F

yeah, it was THAT kind of show… ;)

ArsTropica

Give me The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Brent Petty

The trademark is a nice touch.

Clay F

She didn't seem to take to Shaun of the Dead that well. I wonder if Carly will join for the reaction to Hot Fuzz.

Clay F

Since the reaction to Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was a while ago, is there any plans / hope that the Batman animated movies will continue?

Mario

ELECTION (1999) is a good movie.

Clay F

I've watched Remember the Titans many times. Love October Sky. That is an awesome poster by Dave. Looking forward to the TNG series finale. Looking forward to Highlander (1986). May not have aged the greatest but I have nostalgia for Highlander (1986).

Clay F

Slightly too early for me. I was more of the”Button moon” era!! Although we did watch lots of magic roundabout and button moon at university! Usually at about 2-3 ish in the morning!! 🤪

Mark White

As for October, and one Carly could definitely watch....Once Bitten with Jim Carrey before he was "Jim Carrey"....love that movie along with the original Fright Night. One that I remember thinking was pretty scary growing up was Children of the Corn

Joel Wayne

St Elmo's Fire, Hoosiers, You've Got Mail, One Fine Day, Up Close & Personal.......and I will admit a guilty pleasure tv movie series. Halloweentown.

Joel Wayne

All Terrific! I found Indian Summer (1993) later in life, a few years ago actually, and couldn’t believe I never watched it. I’ve always loved Summer Camp movies and the older I get the more nostalgic I’ve become. This film hit right at home. I’ve always liked Matt Craven as an actor too, so it was cool to see him return to summer camp, after appearing in Meatballs (1979). +1s on All, but especially One Fine Day (1996)!

Larry Darrell

It is Thanksgiving, and she has already reacted to it.

Tater

The Mist would be a nice october reaction.

Tater

I haven't seen Snakes On A Plane

Katie Jackson

X-Men, that's right🤦‍♀️I haven't seen Lone Survivor

Katie Jackson

I can't remember if this is a Thanksgiving movie, or Christmas movie, but Planes, Trains and Automobiles would be fun.

Robert Nelson

Does it have to be black & white to be classic? If not, I'm throwing "The Time Machine" in (1960 version).

Clarence Newman

If she was, Scarface would be a far different movie. "Frick da frickin' Diaz Brothers! Frick 'em all!"

Clarence Newman

Snakes on a Plane? He was in that.

Clarence Newman

Hot Fuzz is awesome! One of my all-time favorites, hope you love it, and looking forward to seeing the video!

Jo

Great list. I 2nd the motion for Omen, They Live, and Gremlins.

Robert Nelson

Hi Cassie, great line up. Can’t wait for Hot Fuzz. As you have watched Shaun of the dead, you might as well do the whole Cornetto trilogy and watch “The worlds End” although as I’ve said before, I think out of all the Simon Peggy/nick frost comedies you would enjoy “Paul” the most. More trek as well! Dead poet’s society I think is a Autumnal movie. But you may have seen that one? I also need to do another shout out for “Duel” with October round the corner. It’s well suited to scary but not to scary!

Mark White

Alas, yes. I miss those 5 minute fillers before and after the News.

Clarence Newman

She'll watch it eventually but perhaps best for the cinema room

Gray

Both those would probably be rough on her. But the endings are so satisfying. For that reason she might love them.

Chris Thom

Classic.

Chris Thom

YES. I love that movie so much. It's passed time for an Alexander Payne on the channel.

Chris Thom

It's the BAT MAAAAANNN

Chris Thom

anyone from the U.K. old enough to remember The Magic Roundabout?

ArsTropica

Mmm. Yeah, ok.

Clarence Newman

Based on Cassie calling JLP: Captain, my Captain, I think she's seen Dead Poet's Society.

ArsTropica

Carly reacting to Highlander would be ... interesting!

ArsTropica

Keep forgetting about that vid. YouTube never recommends it to me. Yeah that was a good one. Peak emotional. Cassie is the Al Pacino of reactors.

Chris Thom

The problem with Interstellar is that Cassie has sort of almost watched it before. She admitted during one of her live vids that she started to watch it once and fell asleep. She did say she was tired and maybe distracted at the time, but whatever the reason, it left a less-than-stellar impression on her. I think you'll have to campaign pretty hard to get her to try again.

Clarence Newman

Hot Fuzz? Hot Damn!

Steve Mercier

You know, I'm not worried about that. Cassie has proved throughout the episodes (at least a couple of which were borderline mediocre) that she just loves hanging out with the crew. She'll enjoy Nemesis even if it is the Cooper Manning of Star Trek movies.

Clarence Newman

Without getting into spoilers, I wasn't even considering the creatures. I'm talking about THAT part of the film, if you know what I mean. I was surprised it even made a poll last year, considering THAT scene breaks one of Cassie's film taboos, imo.

Richard Maurer

That trademark had me laughing way too hard. lol

Chris Thom

ELECTION (1999) is a very autumnal movie starring Reese Witherspoon. 7.2 on IMDB

Thin White Duke

Yeah, with me it has a lot to do with how close to real life jeopardy a scary movie is. The protagonists in "The Mist" are forms of fantastical creatures, so it probably wouldn't hit home too hard. "It Follows" is a film about something that could happen in real-life. Not the supernatural part of it, but the scary-ass stalker part. I think that would wreck Cassie far more than the creatures of "The Mist".

Clarence Newman

we have a remake of that hitting soon too! Love the original though. Good call.

Matt Rose

Calling Mike Lemon to this comment thread.

Richard Maurer

Hadn't really heard of that movie before, seems interesting but the premise reminds me of Cube and some other films of that type.

Richard Maurer

@Clarence Newman - Wait, are you saying It Follows might be too much for her, but you're recommending The Mist? Even I have trouble recommending The Mist for Cassie (as much as I love it myself). That movie would crush her.

Richard Maurer

The Salem's Lot mini-series with David Soul could also be called a Nosferatu story. The vampire was certainly based on him.

Clarence Newman

I will second that!

Mark White

Alright, if you watch Meander, I'll watch that.

Clarence Newman

You mean his love of cross-dressing?

Thin White Duke

Horror of Dracula is a must for sure. I also enjoyed the two modern 70s Dracula films that reunited Lee & Cushing.

Joe

She clearly needs to revisit all the Star Treks with Carly. I think we'd all be good with that. Hey, let he who is without sin cast the first tomato!

Clarence Newman

I actively avoid theatrical LotR reactions, you have to be a really good reactor to get me to watch one. Extended LotR is the only LotR, imo. I've "slogged" through the extendeds over 30 times.

Richard Maurer

Falling Down is an excellent but misunderstood film that has been the rue of many a reaction channel. I recall that Mary had to remove her reaction from YouTube due to the amount of negative feedback and even personal attacks from her reaction.

ArsTropica

My tuppence worth on a few of those: Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde (specifically the 1931 version) - There are very few characters I've ever seen that are more disturbing than Mr Hyde in that movie. The Hitcher (1986) - An absolutely perfect film for Scary but not too Scary. She will be scared but also be able to sleep afterwards. It Follows (2014) - She would never sleep again. Creepshow (1982) - A great horror montage, and you also (strangely) have a fun time watching it. The Mist (2007) - Another perfect film for Scary but not too. A couple of extras would be Nosferatu (1922), and Meander (2020), which is an absorbing French horror/thriller.

Clarence Newman

I’ve loved Rob & Trin’s journey through the MCU and Firefly. The two most common entry points for me and reaction channels. As far as LOTR, we will forever disagree because it still irks me that one of the reactions wasn’t to the theatrical so I don’t have to sit through the slog of the extended’s every time.

Cole Jennett

You should watch the early Peter Jackson movie Meet the Feebles. Not the Muppets doing the Exorcist, more like Muppets that belong on the Jerry Springer Show. Warning if you do watch it though, it's pretty dark.

Richard Maurer

Scent of a Woman is a great film. It's also one of Cassie's best reactions, therefore a double whammy.

Clarence Newman

Don't worry, I remember what happened 😉

Imzadi

Hot Fuzz is a fun watch. I think you will enjoy it more than Shaun of the Dead. Highlander is entertaining as well

James1035

Don Knotts is a screen god!

Above Average Dave

I think other than the ones you named, my favorite Fall Adjascent Movie™ is HANNAH AND HER SISTERS. I know some people are not fans of Woody Allen personally, but this is a brilliant movie that takes place over successive Thanksgiving gatherings at Hannah's home. The cast is also phenomenal with prime Michael Caine, Max Von Sydow, Barbara Hershey, a decidedly non-Princess Leia Carrie Fisher, the incredible Diane Wiest and "Old Hollywood" star Maureen O'Sullivan. Daniel Sten shows up for about 5 minutes and absolutely owns a scene, and Mr. Allen provides shots much-needed albeit angsty comic relief. Oh, and mid-1980s New York City should've received a "best supporting actor" nomination. The most amazing thing is the movie was shot on the budget more aligned with indie films but the construction, cinematography and score are collectively amazing. And Cassie, you will LOVE the ending.

Above Average Dave

Since the cameo isn't meant to be a surprise, I'll say that by "relevant," I meant a TNG recurring character.

Happy Hanukkah

LOTR was an exception, but no more please.

Joe

That's actually super cozy. Especially the director's cut. It's hypnotic. And Loved by the Sun is really calming.

Chris Thom

I'm trying, Joe, but I still want her to follow it up with a Care Bear movie. As for The Exorcist, if they remake it as a Muppet movie, I'm in.

Clarence Newman

Of course; the days start getting shorter! :-P

Happy Hanukkah

OK, if you don't remember the film, and you are a fan of "shipping" a certain relationship, I may be more excited for you to see it than I am for Cassie.

Clarence Newman

Next Clarence will be trying to get Cassie to reconsider doing The Exorcist.

Richard Maurer

Dark.

Above Average Dave

Clarence, your journey to the dark side is almost complete. 😆

Joe

Cozy movie? “Private Eyes” (1980), starring comedy legends Don Knotts and Tim Conway as two inspectors from Scotland Yard assigned to solve the murders of Lord and Lady Morley. It would be perfect for a Carly watch along during Scary But Not Too Scary. Think “Clue” with the silliness of “Young Frankenstein.”

Just Plain Bob

Honestly, I don't remember seeing it again, after I saw it in theaters. Though I can't think I must have seen at least once later on DVD.

Imzadi

Word. I can watch Stallone in anything, but that doesn't mean I'd recommend it to the Popcorn Poppet.

Clarence Newman

Well, both Gojira (Godzilla) and King Kong are doing pretty well on YT, currently at 72k and 65K, respectively. Which for B&W films is well above average. Genre, as far as older films are considered, might be the most important thing.

Richard Maurer

She did comment in one of the YT premieres that It: Chapter 2 was a most likely this year.

Joe

Cassie: please please please have Carly join you for HIGHLANDER. In this rare instance, there can be only two.

Matt Rose

I would guess, Imzadi, that you're most looking forward to Insurrection. No spoilers, but you know what I'm talking about, nudge nudge wink wink say n'more.

Clarence Newman

"Upcomingatcha!" Gesundheit! If you want a fall-adjacent movie, then surely Falling Down (1993)! :-P Happy New Year.

Happy Hanukkah

I’m psyched to not just see you wrap up Star Trek: TNG with the varied Season 7 episodes and series finale; but I’m also excited to see your reaction to Highlander. This was a film that really came in under the radar and achieved cult status with its storytelling, its sword fighting, and the iconic music from Freddie Mercury and Queen.

Christopher

I will fight you on the beaches, my friend. Although for some reason, I really, really, really want her to watch The Fly.

Clarence Newman

It's hard to discuss the Blair Witch Project without giving away THE reason it's so highly regarded by those who love it. If Cassie watches it without THE reason being spoiled, it will be great.

Clarence Newman

Spaced on the Kinski remake. You're absolutely right.

Matt Rose

When I wrote "some I don't even consider horror" in my first reply, AaOL was the main one I was referring to, lol.

Richard Maurer

Dead Poets! Thrice yes!

Clarence Newman

Larry, thank you for reminding me that Arsenic and Old Lace is a Halloween movie, and that is the movie I should be pushing for this time of year! How could I forget?? 😂😂 As for 1930's horror films, why to leave off The Bride of Frankenstein? A sequel to a film she's already seen should be a sure thing! You have a very interesting and extensive list, mostly to movies I've never seen! 😂 But still a great list! But from some of the ones I have seen Carrie (the original) is a great film, It Follows is a great modern horror film, and I've seen both Happy Death Day films and both are great!!

Mike LL

It's great that even though they live in the frozen north you still get to see your parents so often. I don't really watch anything based on the season or holidays. I just watch movies when I feel like it. I thought about what to recommend anyway but "cozy" isn't really my genre. I'll recommend Legend (1985 with Tom Cruise). It's a light and classic fairytale and one of his first starring roles. You drew it from a pillowcase a couple years ago but it was only a maybe not an official popcorn promise.

My_Cousin_Mose

Pretty sure Pumpkinhead qualifies as a horror film, but nice try.

Richard Maurer

I haven’t seen it in 20 years so I’m sure the cameo would be a surprise for me too.

Cole Jennett

And it has a relevant cameo.

Happy Hanukkah

Older films always struggle in polls when mixed in with modern films. Targeted polls by decade and genre seem about the only way I can see for older films to get watched more frequently.

Joe

I'd like another LotR rewatch with just about anyone because despite the fact that multiple new LotR reactions come out every week on YT, I rarely see one I can get all the way through, let alone watch a full reaction to on patreon. The only one I've seen in the last year (outside this channel) that was worth paying for was on a channel called Rob & Trin React!, a criminally under-rated channel I'm blatantly plugging because they deserve it.

Richard Maurer

It would probably be pushing the limits, that’s why I said “might”😉

Cole Jennett

How about Pumpkinhead? Pumpkins = Fall and Halloween.

Dan M

This movie might be scarier for her and Carly than some of the horror movies they might watch because of the plot. No spoilers.

Dan M

+4 for One Fine Day. Cassie will love this movie. And it’s got one hell of a soundtrack.

Dan M

I haven’t seen it so couldn’t say

Cole Jennett

Quite the lineup you got going on! Can't wait for HOT FUZZ, that's a good one, most especially I can't wait for HIGHLANDER that is a classic "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE" so iconic lol, and no Cassie it has no relation to OUTLANDER lol! Sorry, but I won't be attending the trivia game night, seems like I can never catch a break joining in on that lol, I don't think I'll be able to make it for the LIVE either, I'll be at work all day, but I might drop by during a break or whatnot! I'm glad Summer is finally coming to an end, I used to like Summer a lot but that was when I was back in school, nowadays I hate it because of the heat! Because of my minor asthma I can't breathe well in heat, which is why I love the cold of Winter, I breathe a whole lot better! I can't really say what movies I like to watch most in Fall/Winter, other than when ever Halloween rolls around, I watch at least one Horror movie per day (the ones that I like that don't scare me lol) starting with the 8 classic Universal Monster movies (one per day) that being DRACULA (1931) then I end it on Halloween by watching SLEEPY HOLLOW, my all time favorite horror movie ever! I'm more into Gothic horror (i.e. Vampires, Werewolves, the Frankenstein Monster, etc.) rather than Supernatural or Slasher horror! And of course I'm a Giant Movie Monster fan (i.e. GODZILLA) lol! Speaking of which I so hope for this Halloween season, you and Carly will finally react to one of my favorites, VAN HELSING, I think you two will enjoy it and it's the perfect "Scary, but not to scary" movie for you two to watch, it's directed by the same guy who did THE MUMMY & THE MUMMY RETURNS, infact the movie does give off some mummy vibes when watching it lol, and of course it stars Hugh Jackman, plus you and Carly have the matching shirts I got you for the occasion lol! Loved your DEADPOOL 2 reaction, so hilarious! Love and support, have a good Tuesday, can't wait for Halloween season! I turn 36 this coming Sunday lol! God bless y'all and the family, you and Carly are the best 🥰😇🙏🤗😁😉👍✌🌹

Wesley White

Clarence It's one film that you really want to like, but ultimately doesn't rise above nostalgia bait.

ArsTropica

How about Interstellar extra butter watchalong

Daniel Karlsson

I agree it would make for an interesting reaction. As for Cassie's enjoyment it's really a 50/50. Personally I have always loved The Blaire Witch Project.

My_Cousin_Mose

I was just talking about that today. It's such a good movie with a loaded cast and nobody ever talks about it.

Katie Jackson

Well said Steve - Thanks Cassie for creating a fun little community for film buffs to hang out.

ArsTropica

How about, Sleeping with the Enemy?

James UK

Nathan Jasper - I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

ArsTropica

Whenever you decide to watch the Star Trek TNG films, I just hope you budget some time for self-care after you watch Nemesis... (that's all i'm gonna say about that)

Billy Higgins

Fright Night 1985 version!!

V M

I've heard of that but never actually got around to watching it. Might have to check that out.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I know this has zero chance of a reaction but: A Discovery of Witches (a.k.a Twilight for Adults) is something Cassie would love.

ArsTropica

Katie Jackson, Indian Summer - that's a deep cut and a good film that almost no one talks about. Nicely done.

Daniel Allen

You've Got Mail is a good one.

James Allder

I think “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle” might be an option for a scary, not too scary that Carly could handle.

Cole Jennett

I predict that Cassie will love it - in the same way you love a stray cat with mangy fur.

ArsTropica

As for other non-horror fall movie suggestions, sorry, fall means horror movies to me.

Richard Maurer

Chris Thom, I don't agree with that at all. It's not kitschy, it's merely stylish and perfect in terms of fitting in with the ostentatiousness of Halloween. And in no way is the movie bad. I would argue that it's the best Halloween anthology film ever made, unless some other great Halloween anthology film is slipping my mind.

Daniel Allen

Plan 9 From Outer Space 🤪

ArsTropica

Unfortunately The Omen is on the same banned list as The Exorcist.

Richard Maurer

I like to watch the LOTR and Hobbit movies each fall,

Sam Wilson

I am actually interested in the Ed Wood biopic because of his (inspirational) effect on Fox Mulder.

ArsTropica

Good lineup this week. I love fall. Some of my go to fall movies are Dead Poets Society, Friday Night Lights, October Sky, Mystic Pizza, it’s terribly sad, but I enjoy Autumn in New York. Looking forward to scary, but not too scary October. Now I have to go find my socks 😁

Michael West

Says you, personally I think every film, every week of Oct. should be on that level. Maybe we'll get there some day.

Richard Maurer

This will be the second remake. The first was Nosferatu the Vampyre (79) starring Klaus Kinski.

Richard Maurer

Cassie would utterly HATE a romantic comedy with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. NO WAY. jk. +3

Chris Thom

I would love to see a reaction to the Omen. It's a legitimately scary psychological horror flick in its own right, but I think Cassie draws the line at any type of demonic elements in her reactions. Also, the Stand would be a great mini-series pick, as would Needful Things and Storm of the Century.

ArsTropica

If she watches The Fly, that will take care of the entire month's quota of scary.

Clarence Newman

Halloween poll? I hope Saw is not on there. That wouldn't be fair to put it on a poll after it was announced to be watched (eventually).

Mike Lemon

All Joe Dante is good for October

Thin White Duke

Also, don't forget The Fly (1986) or Saw (2004), Cassie ;-)

Richard Maurer

Cassie: I'd love for you to watch some older silent films. NOSFERATU and THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI come to mind. NOSFERATU is being remade and coming our for Christmas, believe it or not.

Matt Rose

Interesting list, many I agree with, some I don't, some I don't even consider horror. But I don't consider any decades list that doesn't have Horror of Dracula ('58 starring Christopher Lee) complete. :-)

Richard Maurer

Favorite fall movie, besides horror ones, namely ‘Halloween’? I’d definitely say ‘Meet The Parents’! It just screams fall break (idk if you have that in the states). ‘Knives Out’ is another one, the aesthetic is beautiful. Hoping for a great October schedule. 2021 was a great start, 22 was a dud, let’s be honest, last year was a good comeback. Let’s keep pushing the envelope even if it’s just a little.

Shehab Dawoud

HIGHLANDER!!!! YES!!!! Oh happy, happy day! What a joyous day!

Matt Rose

Also, “Deadly Games” (1989), which “Home Alone” blatantly ripped off.

Just Plain Bob

Well, I'm a massive Stallone fan, so Cassie should probably take note of the fact that I can't bring myself to endorse Escape Plan either.

Clarence Newman

Rare Exports is great. But considering how no one can even get Cassie to watch Krampus around Christmas I'm not holding my breath for Rare Exports. Another good horror (sorta) movie for Christmas is Violent Night. Maybe we could get Cassie to watch that one if we word it right..... "It's a lot like Die-Hard, but with more Santa".

Richard Maurer

It's the Freakin' Bat!

LittleGalaxyBoy

That's one of those films that aren't as bad as its haters say, and not as good as it fans say. Ends up somewhere in the middle.

Richard Maurer

Nah. that's where they bottomed out. The studio pushed the sequels to the point where they weren't making money anymore, so they decided to make a joke out of them. The classic monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, etc.) didn't recover till Hammer films brought them back in the late 50's

Richard Maurer

+2 for One Fine Day. It is made for Cassie!

James UK

Yeah, after I wrote my follow up post I searched for holiday themed horror flicks and was surprised at how many good holiday themed horror films I had missed. Including (but definitely not limited to): *My Bloody Valentine (particularly embarrassing since I recommended it in my original post) *Trick ‘r Treat *April Fool’s Day (I know it’s got its detractors but I like it) *Terror Train (New Year’s) *Silver Bullet (July 4th) *Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale All of the above are in my personal collection of dvds/blu rays. How I forgot them, I can’t imagine. And there are many others, but they are less mainstream and more grindhouse-y, which I know doesn’t appeal to most.

Just Plain Bob

+1 for One Fine Day. Almost as if it was made for her.

Cole Jennett

@katie He was Gambit in X-Men Origins - Wolverine and she also saw him in Lone Survivor. My longshot hope is one day she will watch “The Grand Seduction”

Cole Jennett

You are right, Chris. I’ve revisited that reaction a couple of times just to watch her do it on camera.

Dan M

Mother's Day was a brutal but surprisingly good slasher in the 80's - bearing in mind that I haven't seen it since the 80's and it may not hold up that well.

Richard Maurer

I certainly didn't.

Richard Maurer

Kind of, but I feel Flash Gordon was a little more intentionally campy.

Scott Macaulay

Yes. One of those movies I loved as a kid that I watched as an adult and thought "Wow this is not a well made movie" But I still love it in a nostalgic and 'cool 80's' sort of way.

Scott Macaulay

Re: Mixing holidays with horror. I’ve seen it work and I’ve seen it flop horribly. The best examples of it working were “Black Christmas” and “Halloween.” I had high hopes for Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving”, because I loved the faux trailer included in “Grindhouse.” But then they made it and it was a watered down mess, almost certainly to make it marketable to a broader audience. It would’ve been better served to work on a much smaller budget and target the hardcore grindhouse/horror market IMO.

Just Plain Bob

Yeah it's best with your tongue firmly in your cheek. Great original soundtrack by Queen though.

Scott Macaulay

Its a shame she can't have an English watching buddy for movies like that to explain some of the context. Though most non-Brits seem to get most of the jokes, so its not necessary - just might be fun.

Laura Thornley

I’m No Horror Film Connoisseur, but I know when I’ve been scared or creeped out by a film, and still had fun with the experience. And maybe there are some films here that I JUST had fun with, and that had a Scary and Creepy setting, which I believe still works for Halloween. IMO, October doesn’t have to be completely “Dark Trembling Fear and Disgust” all the time. We can take a break from that, at least 2 or 3 times, right? Either way here is a Big List. Did Not Include The Fly (1986) or Saw (2004), because I’m sure everyone else is not going to let Cassie forget them. They will certainly make for Awesome Reactions. ;-) 5 From 1930s… Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) The Old Dark House (1932) Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) Mark of the Vampire (1935) The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939) 5 From 1940s… Rebecca (1940) The Wolf Man (1941) Cat People (1942) Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) Dead of Night (1945) 5 From 1950s… Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954) The Bad Seed (1956) Curse of the Demon (1957) The Fly (1958) House on Haunted Hill (1959) 5 From 1960s… Village of the Damned (1960) The Innocents (1961) The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) Quatermass and the Pit (1967) Night of the Living Dead (1968) 5 From 1970s… The Stepford Wives (1975) The Omen (1976) Dawn of the Dead (1978) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) The Amityville Horror (1979) 13 From 1980s… Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) Gremlins (1984) Night of the Comet (1984) Fright Night (1985) The Hitcher (1986) Night of the Creeps (1986) The Monster Squad (1987) Near Dark (1987) The Witches of Eastwick (1987) The Blob (1988) Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) They Live (1988) 13 From 1990s… Predator 2 (1990) The Witches (1990) Matinee (1993) Wolf (1994) Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) An American Werewolf in Paris (1997) Event Horizon (1997) I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) Scream 2 (1997) Blade (1998) The Blair Witch Project (1999) Lake Placid (1999) 10 From 2000s… Final Destination (2000) What Lies Beneath (2000) Frailty (2001) Below (2002) The Mothman Prophecies (2002) The Descent (2005) The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) Death Proof (2007) Paranormal Activity (2007) Planet Terror (2007) 10 From 2010s… Insidious (2010) The Cabin in the Woods (2011) The Thing (2011) The Conjuring (2013) It Follows (2014) Split (2016) Happy Death Day (2017) Summer of 84 (2018) Ready or Not (2019) The Vast of Night (2019) Bonus: 10 Stephen King films… Carrie (1976) Creepshow (1982) Cujo (1983) The Dead Zone (1983) Cat’s Eye (1985) Silver Bullet (1985) Maximum Overdrive (1986) Needful Things (1993) 1408 (2007) The Mist (2007) Or… The Stand (1994) (6hr. Larry Darrell

I know it's a polarizing film. Some folks love it, some hate it. I personally found it terrifying, as it touched on a lot of childhood fears.

FilmFanFred

She hasn't, Chris, but I really, really want her to. And did anyone else notice how Richard just dropped a cryptic vote for Escape Plan?

Clarence Newman

Would say time definitely halves after the body settles into puberty and it's more or less adult form.

Chris Thom

She's definitely referring to Timmy Riggins. She and Carly have both publicly lusted after him.

Chris Thom

Knew that still would be useful the second I saw it. Lol. Pretty sure it was from Bill and Ted.

Chris Thom

Matinee (1993), directed by Joe Dante, also director of… Piranha (1978) The Howling (1981) Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) Gremlins (1984) The ‘Burbs (1989) Small Soldiers (1998) I also recommend Matinee. Great Halloween themed movie.

Larry Darrell

One thousand percent on board with that.

Chris Thom

Was almost one hundred percent sure she'd done Cliffhanger on the channel. wtf. Mandela Effect.

Chris Thom

Welcome to a Life sentence in a Supermax, buddy!

Richard Maurer

Some Fall Movie Suggestions before we get into Spooky Movies: *Indian Summer *Mystic Pizza *The Craft *One Fine Day

Katie Jackson

By the way…love the poster for Trivia Night! Your air guitar pose is awesome! Great job on that, Dave!

Dan M

Matrix Revolutions is still crying in the corner.

Chris Thom

Isn't everything controversial nowadays? Even controversy is controversial.

Richard Maurer

Just a suggestion: maybe instead of squeezing in a Star Trek movie reaction, you could watch the special Family Guy reunion episode of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Just a suggestion, it's your channel!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I'm drawing a blank on something she watched with Taylor Kitsch🤷‍♀️

Katie Jackson

Vague memories of Matinee. Think that was definitely the strangest movie I'd ever seen at eight. Wasn't that from the director of Poltergeist?

Chris Thom

Absolutely true, probably best she not see that one

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Just reminded me I watched four episodes of Sabrina four years ago and never finished the season. Thank you.

Chris Thom

I think people just assume that one's not going to happen for some reason.

Chris Thom

It's time to change Scary But Not too Scary to Scary and Maybe Even Scarier, considering the movies Cassie watched last Halloween.

Richard Maurer

YES!!!! HOT FUZ. Too bad its a solo time, but your gonna loveish it

Julian G

I was FOURTHED to do it, Richard! He threatened to hit me with his FIFTHED if I didn't. Now I feel SIXTHED.

Clarence Newman

Suggested that one a long time ago but then realized it was all of Cassie's nightmares rolled into one.

Chris Thom

Cargo shorts are really controversial now apparently.

Chris Thom

Maybe pathetic but it actually kind of feels like love to me. Damn these para-social relationship traps.

Chris Thom

Pretty cool idea, last time it was mentioned I suggested Back to the Future.

Dean Holt

Oh! The Good Son! Can't forget that nightmare child 😂

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Never said you weren't allowed, just like I'm allowed to comment on your recommendations. Also Dick? Never heard that before, really got me there, lol.

Richard Maurer

Cassie's lucky to have dual if we ever go full Handmaid's Tale Crazy Time.

Chris Thom

Can't wait for the Trek season finale and Highlander. Also, for October, has anyone suggested The Blair Witch Project? Unless Cassie's already seen it, that would be an interesting reaction I think.

FilmFanFred

Vaguely remember that being on the Disney Channel a long time ago on a free weekend. It seems to have a cult following in comments.

Chris Thom

She has pointed out “Tim Riggins” anytime she has seen Taylor Kitsch, lol. Not sure she watched the entire series or not, but she’s definitely familiar with it.

Cole Jennett

Just like Flash Gordon the Queen soundtrack elevates the movie

Gray

Yeah it was good in the 80's, but like a lot of 80's films, it doesn't really hold up.

Richard Maurer

Yes it is. A great film, very underrated.

FilmFanFred

Stepmom is a total fall movie. Agreed.

Chris Thom

Nope, I have friends who after the 2016 ummm (no politics) immigrated there.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

The classic monster movies peaked with "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein"

bgb1975

The 2005 Joe Wright version is really good.

Chris Thom

Are you Canadian?

Chris Thom

Is Something Wicked a Disney movie?

Chris Thom

Ok so it's not meant to be taken too seriously. That's good to know. Finally going to see it this week.

Chris Thom

Everyone's entitled to recommend the movies they like not just the ones you like, Dick

Batman

Black Christmas was actually really influential. Classic. I usually hate mixing the holidays with horror but it really worked in that.

Chris Thom

Trick r' Treat is pretty kitschy and bad but I love it.

Chris Thom

Wow I haven't seen any of these movies. But I see a kilt and a sword with lightning so that's cool. I think my quintessential fall movie is Scent of a Woman for some reason. I think that's always kind of been my fantasy of NYC in November. Also Upcomingatcha is a rad title for a post. Sounds like something I've literally texted someone and they were like 'tha f-- you trying to say to me?' Lol. But I know. And now I know you know. So ready for Super Ultra Scary Halloween and Vaguely Traumatic Experience October!

Chris Thom

Hey Cassie! Happy Last Official Week of Summer 2024! I had a really nice weekend decorating our porch and front yard for Autumn, even though I swore to myself that I wouldn’t decorate until Summer was officially over. But our local nursery was having an excellent sale on mums (10” hanging baskets, multi-colored, for $15 each!) and I couldn’t pass it up. So here we are. This week’s line up is 50/50 for me. Hot Fuzz will be a lot of fun with plenty of “Oh my goshes” to go around. I’ve never seen Highlander, the trailer and other parts I’ve seen never really appealed to me. But I’ll give it a shot once you’ve reacted to it. I may be pleasantly surprised. Can’t wait for the Halloween poll and Scary But Not Too Scary October! Trivia Night should be a blast…unless I tank big time 🤷‍♂️. And my favorite fall movie, hands down, is October Sky ( although I watch it at least a half dozen times throughout the year. I was also a huge fan of the tv show Dawson’s Creek, with James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams. The new seasons always started in the fall, when school had just started, and it has always remained a fall nostalgic thing for me because it was such a relatable storyline for me. I’ve got my 1 year anniversary coming up as a PIB Patreon member, and I’m so looking forward to my 2nd year with you. Thank you for being you 🙏

What happens if my socks are already off? Do my feet come off, 'cause that would be horrifying.

Richard Maurer

I remember reading a study once that estimated the perceptual middle of our lives is Age 10.

John M.

I definitely would like it to cool down a little. We've been in the mid 80's in Michigan for a lot of the week. To warm for my fall vibes😆 I just finished Friday Night Lights (Series) for the first time and I definitely recommend it if you love football or sports movies. It also gives me that fall feel. A great TV Series. I always love to watch Practical Magic(Glad you enjoyed that one so much) so I'll probably just watch the full reaction with you and Carly again. I finally got around and watched Wednesday on Netflix and rewatching The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina for my fall fix. Watching Fire Country too(Which Is Really Good). I definitely would love a Star Trek Movie if you can fit it in the schedule. Can't wait for SPOOKY SEASON🍁🍩🍬🎃🪓

Katie Jackson

I have a theory about the passage of time From age 0-9, time passes at half speed From 10 – 19, time passes at normal speed From 20 – 29, time passes at two times the speed From 30 – 39, time passes at three times the speed From 40 – 49, time passes at four times the speed And so on and so on, or at least it seems that way. What do you all think?

Mac61

'Sigh'

Richard Maurer

For some reason I think Dumb and Dumber is a good fall movie and what about Bob is good anytime (a great pib reaction.) Good fall romance movies to me are Sense and sensibility, Remains of the day, wuthering heights, and Gone with the Wind to name a few.

Clarence Newman - THIS IS THE COMMENT POLICE!!! You are in violation of the law against thirding your own recommendation, which is a second degree felony (first degree would be seconding your own recommendation). Please remain where you are, officers will be around to take you into custody shortly.

Richard Maurer

Me, too. But for different reasons I suspect. :)

Brent Petty

No problem, it happens! I've definitely done the same before too.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

She's seen Knives Out, unfortunately.

Brent Petty

Big YES to both THE FULL MONTY and LOCK STOCK, and just more British movies in general

Gábor Árki

Very much looking forward to the TNG finale!

Imzadi

Sorry, so used to people putting out lists of films they want Cassie to watch I didn't really catch that. My bad.

Richard Maurer

So, I see some fall recommendations here, so I'm going to lean more into spooky season recommendations. My top pick that meets both criteria is the 2007 film "Trick 'r Treat." Cassie should find this a fun one, especially considering all the X-Men cast and production team crossover. My second pick is the new 2024 film "Abigail" - just a super fun comic horror genre movie with lots of great comic elements, and an amazing performance by the girl in the title role. In terms of a non-horror but a very fun murder mystery/detective genre autumn-timed film, I recommend "Knives Out." Great cast in this one, including Daniel Craig in a very cool role. My last pick is a cool horror comedy called "Totally Killer" - a very fun classic slasher homage film with a modern sensibility. I've been a huge Kiernan Shipka fan ever since she rocked a lead role in my favorite film of 2017, "The Blackcoat's Daughter" (which I'd LOVE Cassie to react to on the channel), and she's very good as the lead in this film. Autumn and Halloween season are my favorite times of the year, so I'm really looking forward to Cassie's spooky season watches this year.

Daniel Allen

Highlander - "there can be only one" which is ironic because you definitely want to avoid the sequels. Also can we please get "The Fog" (original) on the Halloween poll. Ideal candidate for "not too scary"

John Drake

Thirded!

Clarence Newman

Well I wasn't really asking her for them I was just letting her know what my fall plans are since that was her statement of request.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Here's 2 family-friendly spooky-themed movies for October, which are about horror films without being scary themselves Ed Wood (1994) - 7.8 on IMDB Matinee (1993) - 6.9 on IMDB

Batman

Good for most people here, I'm pretty sure. No offense, but I just haven't seen a lot of people here asking for Twight. But good luck anyway.

Richard Maurer

I’m still advocating for a poll of Canadian horror films for Scary But Not Too Scary. Entrants could include: My Bloody Valentine Cube Ginger Snaps Videodrome Black Christmas Pontypool The Changeling …and others.

Just Plain Bob

Long journey on the enterprise nearing its end.

Neil Varma

Great Expectations 1946 directed by David Lean the Director of bridge on the river Kwai voted third best British film of all time out of 100

Thomas Thompson

@Mike LL Lol! Thanks!

Steve Holton

That would be cool

Beavis

Ok, that's two mentions of The Towering Inferno in this weeks comments! Anymore??

Mike LL

Highlander holds a special place in my heart. I watched it with a friend last summer, and she got so caught up in it that she started calling me "My Highlander" for the next few days. I mean, I didn’t mind. Who wouldn’t want to be called a Highlander? Thought it was really sweet coming from a friend lol The soundtrack’s a killer too, maybe even more iconic than the film itself. Gimme the Prize ( Kurgan's Theme ) being a personal favourite but it's so difficult to pick a single one. Hopefully you don't have too much trouble with the Youtube reaction.

LittleGalaxyBoy

Highlander: The best worst movie ever!!

Scott Macaulay

When I was asking for a classic horror poll I originally thought of asking for different polls for each decade from the 30's through the 60's but I quickly abandoned that Idea because I realized just getting a classic horror poll at all was going to be an uphill battle. I switched to giving a list of horror films from each decade that I considered to be worthy of being on the poll. Just something to consider.

Richard Maurer

Steve, that takes real courage to put you (and your shorts) out there like that for us to see. Who knows, maybe a trivia question one day (Steve's shorts!)😂

Mike LL

"Highlander"...."I did love OUTlander.".......LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!! THAT's FUUUUNNNYYY!!!!! Also...during scary October....you should def try to be on ST First Contact...it's a little scary but not too scary...and you should watch the TNG episode from Season 7 called "Genesis".....that is probably the scariest episode of any Trek ever!

Pianodean

Favorite cozy Fall movies? THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955), SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983) which would be a good Scary but not too Scary nominee, HANNAH AND HER SISTERS (1986).

Robert Jewell

Re-watch the Indiana Jones trilogy with Carly in the theatre room 👇

Butt Head

Hot Fuzz trivia: whilst filming it, stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost stayed in a village called Wookey!

Chris Clarke

The Neighborhood Watch Alliance were the good guys in Hot Fuzz

Thin White Duke

A Halloween poll? September isn't finished yet those of who you who are old enough to remember the song September by Earth Wind and Fire. No YouTube video Tomorrow I do my bi-weekly my Medical Vlog which I go through a bunch of medical stuff then I will let YouTube tell a tale the tale of https://photos.app.goo.gl/AFyPL1737XPAMsoeA Before my bi-weekly promotion of this channel. Lots of good news about her Cassie's gifts. My gf and I going to Toronto to watch Taylor Swift in concert and then going to the Chiefs vs Steelers on Christmas Day to watch my Steelers play Travis Kelce and the Chiefs. Caitlin Clark tell me about Taylor and Travis https://youtube.com/shorts/14G1v6IVKis?si=l0SGsI39iJZI_nhK Enough said

“Goodbye, Jean-Luc. I'm gonna miss you. You had such potential. But then again, all good things must come to an end.”

Anthony Carlson

Good for you, I guess?

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

"Love your socks off." What a sign-off phrase 😄

Brandon Pierce

I know Cassie has seen Twilight, not sure if she's seen all of them. I sure hope so because I'm having trouble thinking of anything I want to see a reaction to less than I'd want to see the Twilight Saga.

Richard Maurer

Hot Fuzz should be fun. I love that movie.

Shad Kanyak

Honestly, I’m glad fall has arrived because this summer was far too hot for my liking. Aside from a few cooler weeks, temperatures were consistently between 35-42°C (95-108°F for those quirky Americans not using SI standards) for almost all summer since May. We kept breaking records and had more heatwave warnings than I can remember and the longest one in recorded history. This went on until the first weekend of September, with schools even closing early and running half days because classrooms were around 35-38°C (95-100°F). Then, within a few days, temperatures dropped to 5-10°C (40-50°F), and we had 2-3 times the usual amount of rain for September in a couple of days and now expecting one of the biggest floods in 2 decades. Feels like weather is just getting crazier every year. I don't usually have any specific thing I'm used to watching during the fall. It was usually the time to pick up on new seasons and new shows for me before the streaming era. But this year I'm starting to feel in the mood to rewatch PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, the BBC miniseries version, which for some reason I'm mainly associating with fall. Looking forward to HOT FUZZ. Bring on the noise! I have a hunch about it but let's see how the reaction turns out. 😄

Gábor Árki

Ok, did you or did you not say that one of this month's films is going to be Four Weddings and a Funeral? I know there's a couple of weeks left in the month, but I'm on holiday for two weeks from Saturday so I'm getting my reminder in early. You need some light comedy fun after the emotional wedgies you've received recently. As for my fave cozy/fall adjacent movies, here's a few: "The Towering Inferno" (always warms me up on a cold night) "An Officer and a Gentleman" (because this is the fourth fall since you started the channel and you and Carly still haven't seen it) "Cliffhanger" (snow, Stallone and stupendous stuntwork) "The Full Monty" (nothing better for a cool autumn evening than six out-of-work, out-of-shape Sheffield steel workers out-performing the Chippendales) "Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (Autumn-bleak but in the effortlessly fun way Guy Ritchie has with his movies. This was the forerunner of "Snatch" and probably a better movie.

Clarence Newman

Well, other people have asked for decades polls, not just us asking for Classic Era decades polls. Other people have asked for 70's, 80's, and 90's polls (well maybe not that many for 90's polls). But I don't think anyone has mentioned genres, but I wouldn't be opposed to a 1930's Comedy poll, or a 1940's Drama or Film Noir poll. Anything to get more older movies seen. My gosh, she hasn't seen CITIZEN KANE or GONE WITH THE WIND yet, much less LAWRENCE OF ARABIA or other film classics! One of my dreams is for Cassie to see a few Astaire/Rogers films. At least THE TOWERING INFERNO would get Astaire on the channel. She's never seen a John Wayne western (THE SEARCHERS, anyone?) or a Cary Grant comedy. It's an ongoing crime!!!!

Mike LL

Whoa.. Highlander. I have not seen that since college. Not sure how Cassie will react to this but I’m looking forward to finding out!

Wes

Can't wait to see Deadpool 2 on here!

Philip Gordon

I've got questions about your idea for decades polls. Would they be genre specific or open to any genre? And if they're genre specific what genre would that be?

Richard Maurer

Looking forward to a great PIB week! 👍 This week-end was a reunion for former employees of the summer family camp where I worked during school. And, it was so nice, current staff surprised us with videos of our goofy old campfire skits! This was me in school as the emcee for “Chubby Bunny” (This was before Chubby Bunny was banned in most civilized nations). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mITvOefC4zA Yes, I know. My oversized board shorts should also be banned. Thanks Cassie, Popcorn In Bed is like a great family camp. Very welcoming, a great place to connect with people, and a wide variety of fun things to enjoy. 😊 For cozy fall films please try Mystic Pizza (1988) 🍕🍂

Steve Holton

Fall movies shows... Let's see well I always kick off the season with Beetlejuice, which I did earlier this month seeing the sequel. Fortune or fate whichever one gave September a Friday the 13th so that film is done. So now, the real nitty gritty of fall aka pre-spooky season: When Harry Met Sally Autumn in New York Stepmom The Age of Adaline Knives Out October Sky Twilight saga And then we do some lighthearted spookies before October actually hits Coco The Book of Life Practical Magic Death Becomes Her Coraline As far as shows go, Gilmore Girls is definitely a perfect pick, currently going through Last of Us again, and the new season of Daryl Dixon comes out in a week or so so that'll be my Walking Dead fix

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Doc Hollywood is definitely a movie you would really enjoy.

NSG MMA

After Cassie watched It: Chapter 1 last year I have hope for this year, keeping my fingers crossed.

Richard Maurer

We still got 4 tng movies but I keep getting told thats not the same but I think it is. I mean 2 of them are like extended episodes. 😁

David Freese

Everything looks good coming up! This will be another great week in Popcornland! The series finale is being looked forward to with great anticipation by every Trek fan and with great impatience by everyone else!! In this we are all united! We are all glad to see it! I don't really have fall shows that I watch every year, but there are some Christmas movies I watch every year, and now I have your reactions to most of them. So no recomends on the Fall show front. Still waiting for the occasional Classic Era movie you might watch. Still waiting for the decades polls. Please have a dedicated 30's and 40's polls one day! One fine Popcorn filled day!

Mike LL

Halloween poll coming up? Can't wait. Hope it has some good, REAL horror films I can vote for.

Richard Maurer

So happy Fall is here, favorite season, it was 110 degrees last week where I live and it's gonna be 78 today, love it, and a lot to look forward to this week, Hot Fuzz, Highlander, AND TNG, as much as work has been sucking as of late, at least there's Popcorn to look forward to.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Yay Halloween poll! I’ve been watching a lot of horror over the summer A24 and Neon have been smashing it! Is 2024 the year we stretch the boundaries a little? Also Hot Fuzz and Highlander, what a week of content! Definitely glad to see the end of the weekly Star Trek content.

Biggman83

Fall for me is all about NFL and the upcoming NHL season. Dan in Real Life is probably my go to fall movie.

Cole Jennett

HIGHLANDER ... there can be only one!!

Chris

End of Star trek TNG I'm gonna miss it 😅

Tainted Justice

This is gonna be a killer week.
