Oh Brother Poll!

It is my brother Matt's birthday this week! He is actually one of the reasons I started the channel, and has always been a huge support! A lot of you ask about him and his movies all the time so let's do a poll of some of his favorite movies! I have actually seen most of his favorites by now so he had to dig a little deeper but I think we have some good ones!

Here are the ones I have already seen: Shawshank, LOTR, Gladiator, Braveheart, Dune, Django, OUATIH, Dark Knight, Grand Budapest Hotel, Kings of Summer, The Big Lebowski, Mad Max, Good Will Hunting, Office Space.

Comments

I don't know why but I keep assuming they only share one parent.

Chris Thom

since carly is also matt's sister, can she watch no country with you?

Augustine Lee

Planet of the Apes (1968) is the only one I care to see her react to. Does Cassie have a strong interest in this franchise, she has to want to watch them.

Joe

@stick don't get so butt-hurt that I have a different opinion than you.

Craig Russell

Totally agree, both deserve a watch!

David

I am looking forward to Logan. Never seen it but read much good about it and my son highly recommends it. I have liked a couple of the previous X-Men movies (and generally liked the franchise so far better than expected) but am somewhat anxious for the X-Men franchise to be over. DP was awesome. I am hoping she reacts to Planet of the Apes franchise (I think lost 45% to X-Men 55% in the live poll). I have suggested these five: Planet of the Apes (1968) and the most recent 4 (Rise, Dawn, War, Kingdom).

Clay F

+1 for The Thirteenth Floor (1999)… which is the correct way to title the film. There are many “13th Floor” titles which could be confusing. I love The Thirteenth Floor which came out in 1999, the same year as The Matrix. I actually prefer The Thirteenth Floor more.

Larry Darrell

@Craig: Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean that it's not there. I think it is absolutely those things. If you disagree and don't like it, fine, but that's a "you" problem, not the movie's problem.

Stick Figure Studios

I thought I was the only one that watched The 13th Floor. It is a good movie. What did you do to the world? I turned it off. Great line in the movie

Vlad D

Starting to get excited about this channel again. ST is winding down and I have Logan, DP2, and NCFOM reactions coming up.

Brent Petty

Ok Karen. I mean Carol! Sorry I just can't seem to spell names lately!

Scott Macaulay

@Brent. Absolutely yes, and I wouldn't suggest otherwise. That's why I clarified that my comments were light-hearted. I'm sure Matt would never hurt his beloved sister, any more than I would hurt mine. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't have a little fun with them now and then. What else are siblings for?

Clarence Newman

Coherence is great with so many awesome twists, but it has zero chance in an open poll since few have seen it. The 13th floor is another great deep cut no one has seen.

David

Excited for No Country for Old Men, not sure I'd rewatch it without a reason but I've seen so much dialogue about Anton since my first viewing that I actually appreciate how great his character is now. "That depends... do you see me?"

Carter Paul

I think Hell or High Water is one she's seen. If not, she needs a week set aside to react to Taylor Sheridan's American Frontier Trilogy (Sicario, HOHW, and Wind River).

Brent Petty

I think maybe, just maybe, Matt meant The Shining is not that bad from his perspective, and gave his honest opinion that, for him, it wasn't that bad. That seems more likely to me than a deliberate lie to get his sister to watch a movie he knew would frighten her.

Brent Petty

I liked it just for the "you're culpable" speech she gives to the priest.

Brent Petty

There are so many intense fans of the "Cohen bros" who are so totally invested in the creative output of this pair that they are even able to spell their name correctly. That's how you can tell whose opinion you should pay attention to--those who have made the supreme effort to find out how to spell the name of their favorite directors.

Carol_White

Coherence is a great deep cut. But no country is a must watch.

Sean S

Me three

Joe M

Please do Kick Ass for the second place win

Joe M

KICK A$$, for the love story!

Jason Fulbright

I don't *hate* NO COUNTRY, but I don't count amongst it's admirers. And I do admire the Coen Bros. Two of the great current American film makers. NO COUNTRY just leaves me cold, and I didn't get much out of it.

Mike LL

@Just Plain Bob - Agree 100%. There's way too much projection as to Cassie's likes and dislikes around here. If a movie is on a poll it didn't get there by accident, it's a mainstream movie that was vetted by Cassie's team meaning she's willing to watch it. I had hoped Cassie choosing to watch It; Chapter 1 of her own accord would put this kind of thing to rest, but no such luck. And just because Cassie doesn't like a film doesn't mean it's a bad reaction.

Richard Maurer

Thank you! I won’t be watching. Not for that one

Carol Rocha

Sing street is too small to ever win a poll, but it's a beautiful movie

Dustin Duvall

No country for old men is the best movie in this poll. It's pretty good.

V M

The North Water is a 5 episode limited series from 2021, set in the mid 1800s on a whaling expedition to the Arctic gone awry. Farrell's performance is jaw droopingly good. He commands your attention every time he's on the screen. Actually all of the acting is really good. It has a slow simmer effect, not terribly unlike NCFOM in that regard, but it just keeps you glued to the screen the whole time. Easy to binge. I've done it twice myself. It's available on Prime for anyone who wants to check it out. IIRC it requires an AMC+ subscription to see all 5 episodes but the first episode was free.

David Collins

Nope, just hate this particular movie.

Craig Russell

No, it's none of those.

Craig Russell

Lol. I was kind of struggling to remember another movie he's even been in. Was surprised he was as believable in The Lobster as he was. Not that I would necessarily suggest that movie to anyone.

Chris Thom

Just fun to guess which movies she'll genuinely be into, and which ones she'll 'appreciate' for the viewers' benefit. Part of the entertainment factor of the channel.

Chris Thom

Is The North Water the one that takes place in Antarctica? Or Alaska? Fairly recent?

Chris Thom

Pretty sure I've heard her say she saw the first. But haven't heard her say anything about the new one. But I don't know. Sounds like one she might see with her kids.

Chris Thom

You gotta see it. It's really odd, but in a great way. Not too many films like it.

Chris Thom

I've only seen two of these movies. "In Bruges" is actually on my list of movies to see, so maybe this will be my excuse to move it up the list.

Stephen Dias

@Just Plain Bob: Exactly. Well said.

Stick Figure Studios

Been waiting to see Kick A$$ on a poll!

JackTupp

No Country is an all time fav. Can't wait.

Tater

I don't know why any logical viewer would say she'd hate Starship Troopers when she quite liked Total Recall but I digress... I like No Country For Old Men, but she will hate it - even if she's too diplomatic in describing a film so bluntly she knows her brother & patrons like; She doesn't want to get dragged in the comments like the Batman reaction or thought a philistine who just doesn't get sophisticated cinema. But she will hate it I think she would appreciate the ideas behind the film, and might come to admire it, if she watches a good video essay on the interesting themes and characters, but she won't enjoy it watching it first-time, just sayin'

Butt Head

I just watched In Bruges last night based on all the positive comments about it here. I agree, it's an excellent movie and I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, but I still put it behind Rounders and NCFOM, based primarily on their excellence, as opposed to any shortcomings of In Bruges. Also, for those saying In Bruges is Colin Farrell's best role, I disagree. That goes to his performance in the limited series, The North Water. I kept waiting for him to show up in that and then finally looked it up online and discovered he had been heavily featured already and I just failed to recognize him. His performance was masterful. That was when I realized how underrated he is as an actor.

David Collins

I see we’ve got the usual litany of “Cassie will hate…” rationalizations from many on here. I’d have a lot more respect for a little honesty; i.e. just say that YOU don’t like it and quit projecting your preferences onto Cassie. The truth is that “No Country for Old Men” is a superb movie and should lend itself to an excellent reaction, whether Cassie likes or loathes it. As for violence and nihilism, Cassie’s seen much worse on this channel. And, as she’s proven repeatedly, she’ll surprise you with what she likes. It was just a couple of weeks ago that the self appointed guardians of Cassie (SAGOC) proclaimed boldly that she’d hate “Starship Troopers.” They were wrong. But, even if they had been right, so what? Cassie has stated, repeatedly, that one of the purposes of this channel is to get away from only watching rom-com, happy ending movies and to diversify her viewing experience. Maybe respecting her stated wishes is in order.

Just Plain Bob

@Butt Head. I can't argue too much, but what say you about Phone Booth?

Clarence Newman

I feel jealous that you get to watch 2 parters without the 3 month delay

John Sullivan

Who knew there were so many No Country haters here. Or are they just 'any film with violence' haters?

Richard Maurer

It's deeply nihilistic with almost nothing redeeming in the story

Butt Head

@Chris Being Colin Farrell's best role is like being Limp Bizkit's best song...

Butt Head

It's certainly dark and violent, but it is also brilliant, impeccably crafted, thrilling, deep and profound.

Stick Figure Studios

No Country For Old Men winning? Well, that's one I won't be watching. That's a DISGUSTING movie.

Craig Russell

I really think Cassie is wary of the "First Time Sister Watches" route right now, LOTRs was an exception. We may see some re-watches down the road when she starts to run out of more popular mainstream movies, only time will tell.

Joe

So happy "No Country" is winning, it's been suggested for so long. Should be a very entertaining reaction.

Joe

That is true. Although I could see a Classic Film Rewatch with Carly down the road. 🤞😁🤞

Zane From Canada

No Country For Old Men is a pretty intense movie from the Cohen bros (Raising Arizona, Big Lebowski) based on an even more intense book by Cormac McCarthy. I hope you enjoy it, friendo. BTW, what's the most you've ever lost in a coin toss?

Scott Macaulay

Wow. This is going to be intense

Thoko

Rounders for me

Eddie Perkins

A crying shame that Coherence is at 1% which means the majority of you haven't seen it. I wish Cassie would watch this as her second pick ( after rounders!) it a gem.

rakesh

In Bruges got my vote. For some reason, I love Brendan Gleeson. He enhances every film he's in.

Clarence Newman

@Brent. Very valid point, mate, but a certain amount of "white-knighting" is essential, otherwise Cassie would be watching vicious crap like The Exorcist and Human Centipede. Like it or not, there are also a few "dark knights" on here who would pick those films (and worse!) in a heartbeat if they were on a poll (not suggesting you or Clay for one minute). The problem with those kind of films is that they don't entertain her, they give her nightmares and stay with her long afterwards. Take her reaction to The Shining scene in Ready Player One recently. She literally couldn't look at it because The Shining affected her that much. This is in no way a criticism of the support for No Country. It'll be a tough watch for Cassie, but I wouldn't suggest for one moment she couldn't take it. Absolutely it should win this poll. I'm just a little twitchy about it because I, without a doubt, lean towards what you refer to as "white-knighting". More than anything, I love seeing her enjoy herself, so I tend to vote for stuff I think will do that. Having said that, variety is the key, which is why it's soooo important she has her white knights, her dark knights (but not too dark) and the majority in between who push for variety and harder content that stretches her boundaries. She did ask for that in the beginning, after all, so I'm happy to concede that you're more right than I am! One more thing, I do question your point that "her brother knows her better than us" (and therefore we should trust his choices.) Of course he does, but are we really trusting her brother to "white knight" for her with what movies he picks? I say this with all light-heartedness because you made a good point and it's fun to debate it on both sides, but when it comes to Matt looking out for Cassie's sensitive feelings, I need to quote you something from her outro on The Shining.: She says, "I called my brother (the very same Matt) before starting this and asked, 'how scary is this?', and he said, 'It's really not that bad." She then pauses before adding, "He lied to me." There's no doubt Matt has created a great list here, and I really have no complaints about it. But as one of the "white knights" you speak of (not always, but, you know....), I am both looking forward to No Country and a little twitchy about it.

Clarence Newman

Ugggh, Billy. You've just reminded me of that one scene.

Clarence Newman

No "County", Stick? Is that the prequel?

Clarence Newman

Decent list from broski although he seems to enjoy mostly big mainstream movies. ‘In Bruges’ being so far down is criminal. She’s enjoyed the black comedies she’s watched here. So ‘In Bruges’ followed by ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ is a must one day.

Shehab Dawoud

It’s the classic, boy meets girl and tries to impress her by recruiting her into his pop band, which doesn’t exist and neither he or his mates know how to play instruments. It’s sweet and fun (with a bit of grittiness) with an 80s nostalgia soundtrack.

Ria Grix

You should do the top three. You’d enjoy the heck out of all of them.

shaneth138

I think NO COUNTY Is.

Stick Figure Studios

I could have sworn you'd seen No Country, but since not, I'm voting for that! Otherwise I'd have gone with In Bruges. Love Sing Street, but I love the director's previous film Once much more.

XanderWhat

In Bruges is the best movie on this list

Nick Ireland

No it's just about a couple of 20th century cowboys making their living in the modern world. But I think Cassie and Carly might get a kick at it's humor plus Cassie might even be able to show her kids this one.

Keith Brown

Damnation, I know Sing Street won't win - but I know Cassie would love it! I'd love for her to see No Country for Old Men - honestly, one of my favorites...but this time I've voting for Cassie not for me!

Tales of the Fantastic Podcast

Ok I'm new so I'm catching up, I only asked for one because I'm waiting to watch part two

DreBone1986

Not sure I always think of No Country as an under the radar sleeper hit. It was actually a big deal at the time.

Chris Thom

It's a similar story?

Chris Thom

I've never heard of it. What is the premise?

Chris Thom

Every time Intouchables makes it into a poll I am reminded that not nearly enough people have seen it. If anyone has seen it they would vote for it.

Nick Parker

Definitely over the top. But an interesting meditation on how local corruption happens and gets enabled.

Chris Thom

I'm in the minority with 3 Billboards. Over the top and overrated.

Mark Vaderr

It's good to be in the popcorn family.

Mark Vaderr

To her credit she has seen "In The Line of Fire" and "Con Air".

Mark Vaderr

I've actually never heard of that one. Is it a musical?

Chris Thom

Cult classic. Maybe Colin Ferrell's best role.

Chris Thom

I wish she hadn't seen it already. Same with Se7en and Good Will Hunting. Oh well...

Brent Petty

So many good scenes in NCFOM. Honestly, the scene with the cousin is one of my favorites. Beautiful acting and great writing.

Brent Petty

That was what I was going for, didn't really word it the right way, though. :)

Brent Petty

Hopefully he liked Train to Busan...

Brent Petty

That's a Brad Pitt film she may not have seen yet...

Brent Petty

That's surprising. There's a pretty diverse group up there.

Brent Petty

I don't know any of these films, interesting

Phan

Only movie of his I've seen is 3 Billboards and I liked it. Should probably give In Bruges a shot.

Brent Petty

In Bruges getting so little votes makes me sad...

Farbod

Thank you! The white knight stuff is so old. This list is from her BROTHER, not "people." He knows better than any of us what Cassie can handle.

Brent Petty

Are there villains in Cassie's reactions that she ISN'T the polar opposite of?

Brent Petty

There are a lot of reactions to it. But none of those are Cassie, which is what we're voting for.

Brent Petty

NCFOM is the best film on the list. Rounders is a solid second pick for me.

Brent Petty

I like SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, but best picture? No way... especially not in a year that included SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and THE THIN RED LINE.

Stick Figure Studios

"a rare movie that was worthy of the Best Picture Oscar it won." Looking at YOU, Shakespeare in Love.

Brent Petty

And honestly, she dislikes untidy endings regardless of what the rest of the movie is anyway. She started the channel to see movies that aren't "rom-coms and happy endings." She has said that many times.

Brent Petty

The self-appointed white knighting in here really needs to stop. Her brother knows her better than any of us. He also knows she will be watching one or more of these films, and yet he still included NCFOM.

Brent Petty

I have my own plans about what I would have done, too. :) It's the same part of me that subconsciously checks out buildings to see if they'd be good strongholds during a zombie apocalypse.

Brent Petty

@Stick the sequel did NOT KICK-ASS.

Philip Alan

I would rather watch her reaction to an Oscar Best Picture winner that is a masterpiece she finds difficult than watch her reactions to movies such as Kindergarten Cop or Red Dawn. I would surely enjoy her reaction to Sing Street but prefer the work of art that is NCFOM even if difficult for her. She is an intelligent adult. She has reacted to movies just as traumatic or dark on the channel, and seemed to survive. There are a few exceptions (e.g., The Shining, FMJ, and couple of others) that may have scarred her but my guess is NCFOM will be uncomfortable w/o permanent scarring -- yet, arguably a purpose of NCFOM is to "scar" you -- to make you feel and think. My first watch of NCFOM years ago I had one or two internal complaints. But after rewatching the movie a couple of times, I grew to very much appreciate the movie including the ending.

Clay F

No Country for Old Men will blow your fricking mind

Billy Higgins

Ah Sing Street is a lovely film. A completely unknown, overlooked, underrated and lovely film.

Ria Grix

I've gotten pretty good at picking the 3rd place movie.

Bert Towle

Kick A$$ 2010

Geovanny Motion

Kick-A$$ was pretty much the reason Mathew Vaughn was trusted to direct X-Men: First Class.

YodatheHobbit

Well OF COURSE the two I want to win and the only ones I've seen I think are the ones which have the most blood, haha.

YodatheHobbit

The French original is great, and yes Cassie would adore it!

René Ferland

"Piay thiat mian. Piay thiat mian hees munny."

Brian McGovern

What a year. Iirc The assassination of Jesse James... came out that year aswell

Daniel Karlsson

Rounders is such an underrated classic.. some amazing performances by all cast. I hope this makes the top 3 then Cassie will watch it

Johnny Bullis

Oh Cassie, you SO need to persuade Matt to do a reaction with you!

Mark White

Definitely more lifelike because the cartels are very, very real. And totally terrible. The stats on their crimes in Mexico are insane and horrifying.

Chris Thom

No Country for Old Men and In Bruges are the two best movies on here, but I think she would enjoy Rounders the most...so, let's go Rounders.

Steve Mercier

I prefer the 1964 modern day comedy western "The Rounders" starring Henry Fonda and Glenn Ford to the other "Rounders" movie !

Keith Brown

hey my name is matt and i was born last week! weird!

rubberkidney

Let's go Rounders.

Matthew Folz

Kick A$$ 🥰

John Cranberry

And those two films came out the same year and were battling each other for the best picture oscar. I remember thinking that no matter which one of them won, I'd be happy.

Stick Figure Studios

I voted for "Rounders". "NCFOM" was the obvious favourite to win, which was why I didn't vote for it. It's a great movie with one of the greatest villainous portrayals since Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector... however, it infuriates me watching it because all it would've taken was a roll of aluminum foil and some patience to give it a happy ending. Whenever I've watched this movie with other people, we get into a heated debate about what we'd do in the protagonist's shoes. (I have detailed plans!) Regardless, I'm certain that Cassie's reaction will be very entertaining! I knew "Coherence" had no chance of getting picked, so I didn't waste my vote on it. Although, it is an intriguing movie that predates [NO SPOILERS] a certain Hollywood trend that's been done to death in the last 4 years, whereas "Coherence" gets extra points for doing it in 2013! It's up there with "Primer" (2004) with the most mind-bending films I've ever watched. I hope Cassie eventually reacts to "Coherence" but the only way it might get picked is if she draws it out of a hat.

Rod Reavern

No Country is brilliant, and Javier Bardem is collossal in it. But it's subtitle should be No Film For Tender Canadians. The same thing applies to There Will Be Blood, but I fear Cassie is going to get both of them very soon.

Clarence Newman

Dang good movie. One of my favorite performances by Benicio del Toro.

Clay F

@Clay F: Agreed. I still think it's the best Mad Max movie of them all personally.

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie - Any chance you can ask your brother to recommend Sicario? :)

Brent Petty

I agree. He's more believable.

Stick Figure Studios

Indeed.

Stick Figure Studios

I want Oreos now.

Brent Petty

She's seen that one already.. however, looks like another Coen Brothers movie is going to win.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, the Coens have certainly directed their fair share of comedies (and in fact, I've heard some people describe this one as a black comedy; not sure I would go that far, but there are some very funny moments in it).

Stick Figure Studios

I was going to say the same thing about NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.

Stick Figure Studios

She's also seen TRUE GRIT and O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU outside of the channel.

Stick Figure Studios

I'll believe it. It's an excellent film and this channel is introducing her to some great cinema.

Stick Figure Studios

No Country is fantastic

Daniel Karlsson

It's definitely a movie that resonates with you more the older you get.

Stick Figure Studios

I didn't care for KICK-ASS myself, so I never bothered with the sequel.

Stick Figure Studios

Kick Ass is a film that you can take it or leave it for me. Seen it maybe once, and haven’t had a pull to watch it again. Didn’t bother with the sequel. No Country is good, but it’s a slow burn movie. I went with Rounders purely for John Malkovich’s performance as Teddy KGB

Biggman83

She’s going to need a virtual group hug afterwards

Dan M

The way Javier Bardem plays the role of Anton, I think he’s actually scarier than your average slasher movie villian.

Dan M

I thank Matt so much for helping get this channel started. The only one of these I've seen is No Country for Old Men so I guess that gets my vote. I saw it once when I was like 14 and was really bored but I think my adult self will have a whole different perspective on it.

My_Cousin_Mose

Amen, Thanks Matt.

Uncle Phoenix

She also reacted well to The Big Lebowski; so Cassie might have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Coen Brothers than we give her credit for.

Uncle Phoenix

Cassie would love it. (She did like 3:10 to Yuma.)

Uncle Phoenix

Or at least a Halloween and Holiday pick. (As a brother with sisters, I feel like Matt is representing all of us brothers with sisters.)

Uncle Phoenix

@2-Can And he was outnumbered his whole life too. Poor guy should at least get a birthday pick.

Uncle Phoenix

Mad Max II (The Road Warrior) is the best of the early 3 imo

Clay F

I didn’t vote for it; but I have to admit that I am curious how she will take it.

Uncle Phoenix

That would be awesome.

Uncle Phoenix

She reacted to Fargo

Clay F

I've only seen two of these, so sorry Rounders fans, as soon as I vote it will no longer have a chance.

Mike Lemon

Pay that man his money. IYKYK.

David Collins

Sadly, it's on the "already watched" list- https://letterboxd.com/popcorn_in_bed/films/

Mike Lemon

I have a feeling she's seen it already. But not sure. She usually just does first watches on the channel.

Chris Thom

The violence in Deadpool is cartoonish and fun, but in No Country it's much more real. That said, I think Cassie will be able to handle it, but I'm not sure how much she'll like the movie. Has she seen any other Coen Brothers movies?

Stranger2Reality

"So many reactors have watched ..." I think there is some weird fetish among some that every "reactor" has to watch the same handful of movies.

Mike Lemon

Bring Matt on the channel! Have a feeling that would be pretty hilarious. If you can watch No Country for Old Men I think some slashers and other scary stuff might just have to be put back on the table. Because it's legit a Western Michael Myers movie. With Cohen Brothers quirks.

Chris Thom

I think Cassie would like Sing Street.

Clay F

idk - it took him his whole life . . .

2-Can

I agree, I just think this might've been better for her for a Halloween/Scary poll, along with THE ROAD, if we're doing Cormac. But her brother Matt knows her better than any of us, so he must think she's ready. She's definitely going to need a nice cinematic sorbet to cleanse the brain after this.

Above Average Dave

I can’t believe she’s gonna have to watch No Country for Old Men. SMH. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😓

Carol Rocha

I know Coherence has no chance of winning because not many people have seen it, but anyone reading these comments do yourself a favor and watch it. It's such an interesting movie, especially if you know about the unconventional way that it was made (which I won't spoil in case there are people who'd care about that sort of thing).

cheevocabra

Coen Brothers. Won Oscar for Best Picture.

Clay F

I need to see it -- add it to my list to watch.

Clay F

They certainly won't appreciate the use of the c-word 😂 The rest I think they'll like

Butt Head

In Bruges is good

Clay F

This ---> "I like NCFOM, the main villain is worth watching for Bardem's performance alone"

Clay F

Glad to see that NCFOM is winning. Maybe not for Carly. Also good are Sing Street (hidden gem and Cassie would like) and In Bruges. I liked Rounders when released. No Country for Old Men (2007). Nominated for 8 Oscars. Won 4 Oscars including: *Best Picture *Best Supporting Actor (Javier Bardem) *Best Directing (Coen Brothers) *Best Writing (Coen Brothers) My top 3 in order: 1. NCFOM 2. Sing Street 3. In Bruges

Clay F

I like NCFOM, the main villain is worth watching for Bardems performance alone, but it's fairly bleak to say the least. I think Cass can handle violence and death etc but she wants to see redeemable characters & ending on an uplifting note. Won't find any of that with this one. But hey, when did that stop us from throwing her a challenge or two!

John Drake

He should watch the winner with her

Kelby Farley

man, what does someone have to do around here go back in time and be born into the family /s

Michael G

Seriously, not bad choices

Richard Maurer

Name 3 movies not in this poll?

Richard Maurer

Wait, so I had to beg for a year to get a classic horror poll but this Matt guy gets one for his birthday? Just because he's your brother? Nepotism! Nepotism at Popcorn in Bed, I tell you! ;-)

Richard Maurer

Seeing how it is your brother, shouldn't he get a whole week - ie, the top 3 - to Round things up (see what I did there)?

2-Can

Given that Cassie's sister, Carly, has done many guest reactions with Cassie; I wonder if her brother could do a guest appearance on the channel???

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

People suggest it because it is a great film (one of the best) and essential viewing for anyone who loves cinema.

Stick Figure Studios

Clearly it’s going to win. I’ll put all my money her liking it but being frustrated the ending isn’t tied in a neat little bow. Also, “I know a lot of people who hate it” could be said about any movie, ever.

Bryan Erickson

Dark and slow certainly, but never boring and with one of the most profound endings in cinema.

Stick Figure Studios

Heavens to Betsy, that's a lot to take in. Like I said, I've never wanted to understand it, even though I have liked a lot of mature movies. I'd rather watch a comedy.

Mike LL

As he should. He is death and evil personified.

Stick Figure Studios

NO COUNTRY is cinematic high art and essential viewing for anyone who loves film.

Stick Figure Studios

It's about facing mortality. It's about coming to terms with one's own incressing irrelevance in a world where change is inevitable. It's about the chaotic power of evil as compared to the restrained morality of goodness. It's a meditation on some of the deepest and most profound existential themes of being a human masquerading as a standard genre film: a Western-adjacent caper/action-thriller. It's a phenomenal film. Arguably one of the Coens' best essential viewing for anyone who loves film.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, definitely not a Carly movie.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm sure it's a case of many patreons not having seen it. Great movie

Canadianant

Hopefully she gets to see "In Bruges" with or without the poll... witty dialog with tragic story

Coen Taylor

It's dark and violent but Cassie can handle it. It's also essential viewing for anyone who loves film.

Stick Figure Studios

Call it friendo, time for one of the best movies of all-time!

JohnnyUtah

Not a big film buff?

Stick Figure Studios

I don't think either of them would particularly enjoy KICK-ASS, but Carly would especially hate it.

Stick Figure Studios

It's a phenomenal film (arguably the Coen brothers' best) and a rare movie that was worthy of the Best Picture Oscar it won.

Stick Figure Studios

Its a slow burn that drags. Completely diffrent from Deadpool. Good acting and directing, Yes. Fun to watch, not really unless you like that type of movie. I know lots of folks who hate it.

T.L.A

I’ve never seen it either! But of course I’ve heard great things.

Philip Alan

Same. Same.

Philip Alan

That’s my take on it too! I’ve watched No Country a few times to see if I was missing something and nothing changed. I thought it was good, a solid 7, but no more for me🤷‍♂️

Cole Jennett

What is with all the warnings about watching No Country, as if it’s a horror-fest? She just got done with Deadpool and loved it. I’m pretty sure she can handle a bad guy that kills a couple people. Not to mention it’s exquisitely directed/written/acted/etc. What is the problem here?

Bryan Erickson

Intouchables is such an underrated movie, I hope you get to it at some point.

samuel Jakob

She won't like No Country 👎 Kick Ass is the theatre with Carly 👍

Butt Head

Nice idea. I thought they would be movies about brothers.

JULIE

Has Cassie seen Captain Phillips? If not, I think it is time!

Dazman

This whole "Cassie will hate this film, she shouldn't watch it" routine was old a year ago and it's not getting any younger. Can we retire it already?

Richard Maurer

Gotta go with “Rounders” I simply didn’t understand “No Country…” and “Kick@ss” was a little silly to me 🙃

Ike

Coherence is *so good*. Just so good. Just one of the best weird movies ever. Still, No Country For Old Men has gotta win.

Godzilla Jones

Just to tack onto this, Famke Janssen (Jean Grey from the X-Men Movies) also has a small role in this too.

Alberto Gramatges

Fun for me. So yes.

Brent Petty

Got to go with Kick Ass, but I wouldn't be upset if No Country For Old Men won.

Richard Maurer

'Fun'? Eh...

Story Archer

Same. Hate seeing movies Cassie probably won't enjoy in the lead.

Story Archer

I so wanted Sing Street because it's about as feel-good as feel-good can get. I love all 4 of the director's films - ONCE being an all time favourite too.

Brett Richey

speaking of Mad Max though... Cassie might have to see next Furiosa... and then go backwards to Thunderdome, then Road Warrior and finally the original Mad Max saved for last. This order is perfectly reasonable 🙂 since the first 3 are not really tied to each other, they are "gapped" in time.

Mannygogou

Cassie u will love sing street !

Neil Varma

Sing Street won’t win but your brother has good taste with it on his list. Hope you can do a reaction to that one day, it’s great!

tom kenny

That's exactly what I thought.

Brett Richey

Most of you obviously haven't seen Sing Street and trust me... you're missing out. Rounders is my favourite here, but I chose Sing Street for Cassie... and then I saw the vote percentage and just laughed. Ah well. Maybe one day.

Brett Richey

Rounders is so under rated, Matt Damon, Ed Norton Jr, John Malkovich. great cast.

Alberto Gramatges

All in for No Country. Would be a fun reaction for both of you.

Brent Petty

No Country or Kick Aisles! 😁

Mannygogou

Coherence is one of the most interesting movies of the past 20 years... much like Primer it creates a mind-blowing story out of nearly zero budget.

Jim Saul

Rounders is easily my favorite from this poll. Cassie needs more John Malkovich exposure.

David Collins

Cassie will love Kick ass

Rob LaPierre

Well, I’ve only seen two of these movies, and one of them is No Country for Old Men. But I truly think you would berate your brother for picking this movie to be in the poll. And I definitely don’t want the wrath of Cassie coming down on your brother. And if Carly watches with you, she may never speak to him again. So, Kick Ass it is. While its violence is on par with Dead Pool, its also really funny like Dead Pool. Happy Birthday brother Matt! Hope its a great one! And thank for your roll in helping Cassie start this channel and create this community…what a joy its been for me since I hopped on board.

Dan M

Rounders doesn't get on these types of polls that often, had to go for it

TwistedMagoo

Good movies about brothers: "Boondock Saints" "Hell or High Water" "The Sons of Katie Elder"

JAKH

It won’t win but as far as brothers go, you would love „Sing Street“. Being a brother myself I know exactly why he wants you to watch it.

RX2904

Ugh, I hope Rounders pulls this out. So many reactors have watched No Country, so it won't be as special.

Jason Jardine

Hope Cassie takes a look at the Gregory Peck/Charleston Heston movie, "The Big Country"

John Liebling

Sing street is a wonderful Irish movie. It’s not going to win but you and Carly would love it. great 80s soundtrack with a few original songs thrown in

LDC7080

Rounders is such a hidden gem and very few have reacted to it... none that come to mind actually.

Adam Doyle

All of these are great but No Country his so much harder as I’ve gotten older. The “gas station” is one of the greatest in cinema in my opinion. In Bruges is a black comedy gem. Rounders is also a great small poker film with the best/worst John Malkovich performance. Frankly I hope you get to watch all of these in due time.

Blake Evans

yass, " That's the Chicago way"

D4RK

It's time for Cassie to see NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. It's just time.

Stick Figure Studios

In Bruges! Even if it doesn't win, Cass and Carly should still react to it!

Jacob Colson

There are several really good movies in this list, so I think you're just going to have to watch most of them at some point. I would love to see you react to In Bruges, No Country for Old Men, or Kick Ass. I haven't seen The Intouchables or Rounders yet, but I'm sure they're quite good, as well. The actor in The Intouchables, Francois Cluzet, is in another favorite movie of mine called Tell No One that I think you'd love.

John Neiberger

Rounders is a great movie starring Matt Damon and Ed Norton.

Fanchman

I think this is the French movie called The Intouchables, not the Kevin Costner Untouchables.

John Neiberger

Great movie...Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem. I want it to win but Cassie will be under her blanket a lot.

Anthony Perez

Robert Jewell

Oops, Intouchables

John Callahan

Untouchables gets more love that Coherence, which is quite unsettling. Nonetheless, a good list.

John Callahan

Never heard of No Country for Old Men

Tim Phistry

Happy Birthday Matt

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Sing Street is a great little movie. Some movies are just destined to be missed, because it just doesn't have the popularity. I think some patreons who simply never came across it, would love it as well, but won't vote for it now, because they haven't seen it yet.

Pickupthepieces76

You're in luck, she has already reacted to The Untouchables and it's on the channel!

Oisin Clissmann

voted INTOUCHABLES as well. Cassie would adore it.

Matt Rose

I saw "Kick-Ass" at the movie place back in 2010 - and of course... I loved it! It's funny, violent and cool beyond the stratosphere... I would love for the score to be released on vinyl, but it has yet to happen. I do think that Spotify has it, but I would sure dig a physical release. It would... Kick Ass...

Jens Kristensen

COHERENCE is amazing. No budget, just a great concept.

Matt Rose

the US version is ok but the original is awesome. Cassie would adore it.

Matt Rose

I say let's get rounders in 2nd place at least. There's always the chance we get the watch.

rakesh

Absolutely agree with you on The Intouchables, it has my vote as well. It's such a great movie and right up her alley, but it's french and not terribly well known so it makes sense people wouldn't vote for it.

Kristoffer Bech

Well, she asked her brother for HIS favorite movies, so fair enough I say. The Intouchables has my vote as well.

Pickupthepieces76

The last movie that people said she'd hate was starship troopers and she didn't. She may hate it. She may not. She may appreciate the movie for what it is. She's open to expanding her horizons, the whole raison d'être for this channel. I'd hope the villain is the opposite of most of us, not just Cassie. 🤣

rakesh

Come on guys. Kick-Ass. All day every day.

MotoDork

Rounders is the correct response to this poll.

The One True Chris

A well curated list. Sadly, Intouchables is not getting much love. However it would probably be Cassie's favorite out of the bunch (maybe Sing Street). Not that that should be the only criterion. I like No Country as much as the rest, but I think I would really enjoy watching Intouchables with Cassie. So it has my vote regardless.

Pickupthepieces76

Any chance of getting Inside Out as a reaction now that part 2 is out on prime I'm asking for part 1 and 2 BTW preferably with Carly too

DreBone1986

Even before I voted, I knew I’d be shocked if it won, but I still voted for Sing Street.

Jeff

The people voting for The Untouchables make a compelling argument, but I’m still going with no country for old men. She’ll hate it. But that’s fun.

Jose Deleon

"No Country" is the best movie on the list, but there's a million reactions to it on Youtube. I'd love to see one for "Rounders", which is full of great overacting from Norton and Malkovitch. Just a blast of a movie to watch.

Cliff Endicott

As much as I do enjoy it, Cassie is probably going to not like possibly even hate No Country for old men. Kickass would be a much more fun watch for her.

Alex Gorell

Oooooo Coherence is a great indie movie as well. In Bruges is great as well as old country. Some real bangers here, pity we can only pick one.

rakesh

Your description is not far off. It does build tension very well and the acting is scary good, but I would definitely call it " a slow burn".

T.L.A

I have no idea why people suggest a movie like no country for old men to Cassie. She will hate it. The villain is the polar opposite of Cassie. My vote is the untouchables. I think she will love the characters

Jay

C'mon rounders! C'mon KGB! Matt Damon, Ed Norton, John Malkovich. What's not to like? Honesty a great movie.

rakesh

Cassie, with Mad Max, is your brother referring to the original one from the 80’s with a very young Mel Gibson speaking with his Australian accent? After that one, he did Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. I’m not sure if the newer Mad Max movies are related to those or if they are stand alones.

Tara

No Country is great and will probably win, but Kick@$$ is such a fun watch so I'm going with it

T.L.A

Dragon, I joined you in voting for Rounders, hopefully some day

John Adams

You guys are going to make her watch NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, aren't you? Even though THE INTOUCHABLES is one of the most uplifting movies of the last 20 years.

Above Average Dave

Cassie would love SING STREET. Excellent and fun movie.

_tragicmike

I saw Rounders first on the list, and felt no reason to change my mind😂

Cole Jennett

I was excited at first to see “Rounders” winning until I realized it looked like I was one of only three people that voted. But, then refreshing after 32 votes, I’m disappointed & confused to see “No Country for Old Men” winning. I vaguely remember that movie being long, slow, dark, and/or boring. Maybe I’m remembering some of that wrong. But, worst of all, I’m big on movie endings, and that’s one of those movies that doesn’t have an ending…it just stops.

DragonConToddOfTheDiscerningGeeksPortalPodcast

I'm soooo sure that NO COUNTRY will win, but I voted for KICK A$$. Because I want to see something entertaining, and I'm pretty sure that NO COUNTRY will be as lost on Cassie as it is on me. I like a lot of Coen Bros movies, NO COUNTRY just leaves me cold. I don't understand the appeal. It is strange as I can appreciate the artistry in something like THE GODFATHER movies, but I have just never understood NO COUNTRY. Probably because I have never wanted to.

Mike LL

No Country for Old Men is epic

Raj K. Dixit

Great movies! But gee, I wonder which one will win...lol.

Kent

Kick Ass!! To be honest, all these choices are gems! Can't make a wrong choice.

Kelby Farley

Ngl, if Intouchables was The Untouchables (Kevin Costner movie) instead, I would have voted differently, good selection though

D4RK

No love for Sing Street? Fascinating. Seems right up Cassie's alley.

Phil Sexton

The Intouchables (French Version) is amazing. U.S. version is horrible.

James

Your brother has amazing taste! Personally, I’m curious to see your reaction to In Bruges, but any of these movies are great choices

Tbag917

Wow, I want to vote for at least Four.

Uncle Phoenix

No country for old men will give Cassie nightmares. Bardem haunts me to this day 😬

Wes

Dearest Cassie, it will be an absolute JOY to watch you struggle and squirm through ‘No Country!’ For the mental health and relationship with your sister, let Carley SKIP this one!

Lamar Smith

A fitting pic for this poll would be O Brother Where Art Thou? (2000) 😁

Zane From Canada

I voted for "Rounders" but I love "In Bruges." Not sure if it's for you or not. My mother *hated* that movie and you guys have similar sensibilities. "No Country for Old Men" is a great movie, but lord have mercy....

David Blount

In Bruges is one of my fav movies of all time.

Justin

holy cow, all winners. you won't go wrong with ANY of these movies. Your brother has excellent taste, along with a great name!

Matt Rose
