[YT Edit] The Pink Panther (1963)

Comments

Gotta see The Return of the Pink Panther; a comedy classic!

Nick Beckwith

Yeah, Robert Wagner is a youngster in this.

Clay F

Wow. It's been a long time since I've seen this movie; I'm going to need to watch the full thing. OMG, Robert Wagner looks like a baby in this movie!

Stephen Dias

return of the pink panther is the best one

graham scott

The In-Laws! I haven't thought of that one in years. Arkin and Peter Falk are great together.

Clarence Newman

The Alan Arkin filmography is great! If I were having my own AA com-fest, I’d probably screen The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming, The In-Laws, and for a first-time watch, Freebie and the Bean.

Marja

Quite right too. There is only one Clouseau. I like Alan Arkin though. If Cassie wants to see a fun film with him in it, she could watch Freebie and the Bean (1974). It's a buddy cop movie with Arkin and James Caan.

Clarence Newman

I’ve seen all the Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies but never seen the single entry with Alan Arkin as Clouseau!

Marja

A Shot in the Dark was my entrée into the franchise more than 50 years ago (on TV). Watched the cartoons too, of course. Peter Sellers was a comedic genius; just sayin’…#captainobvious

Marja

Love The Wrecking Crew doc! Ended up with the DVD and soundtrack.

Marja

SHOT was filmed first but released after this one. Thus, PINK PANTHER ixls considered the first in the franchise.

Stick Figure Studios

The theme tune for A Shot In The Dark is epic too. It conjures an image of Clouseau the way the Jaws theme conjures the image of a shark.

Clarence Newman

I like the way you are closer (zoomed a little) in this YT edit intro compared to the full reaction intro.

Clay F

If you want to see the guy who played the sax on the theme, it was Plas Johnson and he recorded it with a bunch of musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. Here's a vid...https://youtube.com/watch?v=jBupII3LH_Q

Bert Towle

My mistake. Shot is the second.

Gary Shaw

A Shot in the Dark is the firsr Pink Panther movie. This is the second.

Gary Shaw

Pink Panther? She's not a panther, or any other kind of feline! She's a monkey! (Hinted explanation of bad joke: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001010/ )

Happy Hanukkah

"I don't know if the Pink Panther is actually a panther." :spit-take: :-) I say this with nothing but affection (and I acknowledge some of the blame might lie with me), but your trying to remember the theme song brought to my mind the famous Wolfgang Pauli insult: "Not even wrong!" :-) Anyhow, after this classic theme song, I am looking forward to the next one: Chariots of Fire.

Happy Hanukkah

After this they realised that Peter Seller’s Clouseau character was actually the funniest thing in the movie and built an entire franchise around him. As many have already said A Shot in the Dark is Clouseau at his very best… and the Return of The Pink Panther… and Pink Panther Strikes Again.

Ria Grix

Return of the Pink Panther and Pink Panther Strikes Again are even better, there's more of Peter Sellers in those.

Neil

The movies from the 1970’s are 10X better. I hope they come up on your channel sooner rather than later.

Stephen Malloy

They really didn't know what they had on their hands when Peter Sellers turned up. The difference with A Shot In The Dark was that ultimately the whole script was rewritten to make maximum use of his talents, and the film became unrecognisable from the original intent. Which was really just as well!

Chris Clarke

While this one is entertaining, I feel that the sequel: The Return of the Pink Panther is quite a bit better:) And a great deal funnier;) For another great David Niven film try Candleshoe which features a young Jodie Foster. And yes, you should pick French Kiss, a romantic comedy that stars your favorite rascal, Otto:P

Lucien

I think A Shot in the Dark is a superior film.

Daniel Turbyfill

I wonder what Cassie's thoughts on Casino Royale (1967) starring David Niven as James Bond would be now that she's seen Pink Panther. The 67' Casino Royale is such an odd film yet I kind of adore it lol

LittleGalaxyBoy

Yup, the next three with Sellers are all time classics

Bill Maurer

Especially A Shot in the Dark.

Stranger2Reality

Hope you watch the rest of the series. Any Pink Panther movie with Peter Sellers in it is worth watching
