Coming Up Canada!

Hey Hey Eh Eh!

Still in Canada bed over here! Thank you so much for being understanding as we took last week off! I don’t think I knew how needed it was until I was in it! We took the kids camping in one of my favorite places in the world, we swam, ate popsicles, flipped a canoe, played games and it felt like true summer for the first time this year. Carly surprised us and came up for a few days too, my brother was here from Montana and we haven't all been together for over a year, it was great! I took a deep breath and break, now I feel so genuinely excited to be back in the bed seat and watch movies with you!

This week we have our OLYMPIC WEEK!! Cue theme music, and picture me running in slow motion with a torch with popcorn popping on the top of it! Can someone AI that STAT please haha! We have our Gold, Silver, Bronze winners of our Olympic Poll! I feel like these 3 films are very different and show different sides/stories of the games, which is great. I might need to watch Eddie the Eagle (4th place) as well!

Coming up the rest of the month is ST season 6 episodes, Godzilla OG and Minus 1, our March Madness Bracket winner Mojo One thousand picks (Cant decide between Mystery Alaska or This is Where I Leave You)

Sorry it took me so long to post the ST TNG S6 Polls, but they are live now! Go vote! We will have the final poll in a few days! What other polls would you guys like to see coming up?

I will let you all know the Butter LIVE date for this month when we are back in the USA toward the end of July!

Who has gone to theatres and seen the new Twisters or Quiet Place Day One? I think I will watch those both on the channel so I might drag Ben to the Channing Tatum one this week:)

Ok I miss you all, hope you're doing great, getting excited for the Olympics, what is your fav summer even to watch?

Take off you hosers ;)

Cassie

kirsten dunst paul bettany wimbldon from the makers of nothing hill briget joones and love actually great british romantic comedy - a winner based on the true story

David

I gave The searchers a vote as well 🙂

Björn Karlsson

With all the war movies and series you have watch, you must have be sugested: Deer hunter and Killing fields

73 37

A Clint Eastwood poll is an excellent idea. My top four suggestions for the poll: *THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976) *ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ (1979) -Pale Rider (1985) -High Plains Drifter (1973) Others that I suggest: -Million Dollar Baby (2004) -A Perfect World (1993) (also has Kevin Costner) -Hang 'Em High (1968)

Clay F

Thanks for the assist

Bill Maurer

Outlaw Josey Wales

Bill Maurer

High Plains Drifter

Richard Maurer

The OG is a classic and aged just fine. You're entitled to your opinion, but just know it's very much a minority opinion.

Richard Maurer

A Perfect World is an absolute must for Cassie in my opinion

Gary Giaimo

Play Misty for Me Million Dollar Baby A Perfect World (Plus has KC in)

Steven And Chloe Oddi

Hang 'em High.

Mike Lemon

Excited for Godzilla minus 1. The OG however...did not age like a fine wine (unlike King Kong 1933 which remains a great watch). You'd probably enjoy the 2014 version more.

Jason Murawski

Clint Eastwood poll? What’s your favourite Cassie hasn’t seen yet? Every which way but Loose, Dirty Harry, the Gauntlet, pale rider, Kelly’s hero’s, a perfect world, absolute power, heartbreak ridge, the outlaw josey wales and where eagles dare?

Mark White

Ah, the plimsoll - a moulded, slip-on sneaker kids in the 70s were issued by the school at the beginning of P.E. class (phys ed). No laces to tie them up, rubber soles that squeaked on a wooden floor and stopped your foot so suddenly they might aswell have been called the Annie Wilkes Special, and DEFINITELY no major sports stars advertising them on tv. They went very well with the grey flannel shorts that came up to your armpits and the plastic soccer balls that made your head explode if you took one in the face. Especially in winter! I imagine the "Chariots" guys wore a slightly boojier pair (that's a Cassie word), but not by a lot.

Clarence Newman

I remember when the Tonya Harding thing happened in the 90's. Knew it would be a movie someday, but assumed it would be a Lifetime movie or something like that. Never would've imagined it would be Oscar-caliber. Also I want to know what a plimsoll is but i'm afraid to ask.

Chris Thom

Moonraker for me, delightful over the top bonkers movie!!

Mark White

"I, Tonya" is to ice skating what "Raging Bull" was to boxing - a really good movie about people you wouldn't want to know. As for "Chariots", how can you not love a couple of clean-cut college boys vying for a gold medal in their assembly-line plimsolls? I still have scars today from those bloody things!

Clarence Newman

Cassie remember when you do eventually watch I Tonya, use the copy I sent you awhile back.

Joe M

Return of James Bond poll: pick one Cassie still hasn't seen?

Chris Clarke

I grew up in the era of E.T. and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, so I was very familiar with the Steven Spielberg / John Williams collaborations. They had a certain sound and feel about them that just represented high quality to me. It wasn't until I was in my twenties that I watched THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS, their first time working together even though Spielberg had wanted to have Williams compose one of his films for a long time prior. I love the film and I loved the score. I like the way Williams wrote the whole thing around the main theme played on a harmonica. Hoping we get a reaction to that someday as well.

Stick Figure Studios

Supposedly there's a new restoration of his first feature - Sugarland Express - in the works, hopefully due later this year. I just picked up the recently released soundtrack (its first-ever commercial release) and must say it blew me away. This was also Spielberg's first time working with Williams, and the score is VERY different from the sound we usually associate with them, especially if you aren't familiar with Williams' early work (I've been deep diving lately). But I found it remarkably sensitive and powerful in its modesty, and very well presented of course. I can't wait to revisit the film itself.

Robin T

Be sure to follow Chariots of Fire with Rowan Atkinson's spoof of it at the 2012 London Olympics. Absolute gold 🤣 https://youtu.be/CwzjlmBLfrQ?si=BDLsKwb0K6eFY2JR

Robin T

Oh that's a great movie. One of my favorites. That morphing scene toward the end is really beautiful. Fairly cutting edge for the time.

Chris Thom

You'd think someone (staff, mods, whatever) would help her with that.

Richard Maurer

@ Joe - I think you mean Cushing wanted to stop doing them. I watched a documentary about Lee's Hammer Dracula films. He stopped wanting to do them after the forth one, but the people at Hammer kept begging him to do "one more" (they were in financial trouble) and Lee, being the great person that he was, let them talk him into dong three more for a total of seven. Cushing however. played Dr Frankenstein for Hammer six times.

Richard Maurer

How about a Rat Pack poll? Lots of well known actors spanning numerous films! Dean Martin etc. Which brings me right back to "Airport". 🙂

Chris Clarke

That tells me what the exchange rate is doing: I ordered this end in £ (13 per month I think).

Chris Clarke

You can google 'random number generator' and one comes up at the top of the page. You just enter your parameters (1 through 6000 and whatever is the current count that day) and you can generate as many random numbers as you want. The easiest way to do it, imo. Of course any TV series and movies Cassie won't watch (The Exorcist, etc) could just be skipped.

Richard Maurer

Hi Cassie, may I suggest you put the classics 2001: A Space Odyssey and Planet of the Apes (1968) on the schedule. These would win any polls. Cheers!

Joe

Those two 70s Dracula films with Cushing and Lee I found very entertaining also. Cushing did one more, but Lee said no thanks (haha).

Joe

$15 a month

Joe

Yeah, she says a lot of stuff, but doesn't write down reminders for herself (haha).

Joe

Good idea, maybe she could spin a wheel or have a lottery type drawing (haha), that would be fun to watch. Maybe have some specific genre polls also.

Joe

@Mike - You know what, constantly mentioning the same movie over and over does work, at least on me. I was going through the Popcorn Requests list (far down, where the really interesting stuff is) and I saw Indictment: The McMartin Trial, so I gave it a vote, along with The Searchers for Bill (I had already voted for Show Me Love for Bjorn}. And in the spirit of that I'd just like to say - Horror of Dracula (1958) number 2286 on Popcorn Requests.

Richard Maurer

Really, for all the eras (especially Heisei) I could change most of my picks for other movies and still be happy. That being said I'm sticking with my list - for me those are the best G films of their respective era's. But I don't disagree with your list, certainly good choices.

Richard Maurer

Ideas for a poll you say?…hmmm🤔…..how about a Drama Poll, based on true stories with them directed by Micheal Mann…. Maybe starring Al Pacino and Russel Crowe?! 😃…….. ………Cough! (The Insider)

Mark White

Find Me Guilty (2006)

Gro Do

Okay, I like that list. But I’d make a couple of substitutions for my list. For the Showa Era I’d replace Destroy All Monsters with Godzilla Raids Again. For the Heisei Era, I’d replace Godzilla vs King Ghidorah with The Return of Godzilla. And for the Millenium Era I’d replace Godzilla 2000 with Godzilla Final Wars. And of all of these movies, Godzilla vs Destroyah is an absolute must see.

Dan M

He does mainly TV, but has dabbled in Major Motion Pictures only a few times. He just had the good fortune of having 2 of his films be made in the same year.

Larry Darrell

Game Change was a good one. Used to love Bulworth as a kid.

Chris Thom

yes! (face palm)

2-Can

Something like that. 🙂

Chris Clarke

Is that tier $12/month?

Chris Thom

David E. Kelley shows are usually good. Wondering if he produces movies as well.

Chris Thom

Who's the star? Thinking it was the kid from the Gentlemen series but not sure.

Chris Thom

Triangle was a cool little gem. Totally forgot about that one.

Chris Thom

I've just upgraded to Extra Butter! Here's hoping I can take the cholesterol, lol!

Chris Clarke

I don't know if The Devil's Advocate would count. But that could be a good one.

Chris Thom

I imagine both will be on the new poll, pretty sure The Verdict has been before.

Cole Jennett

Still waiting on a reaction to THE VERDICT.

Stick Figure Studios

I've been wanting CLOSE ENCOUNTERS for a long time.

Stick Figure Studios

Really? That's awesome. That's one less movie for the poll then.

Stick Figure Studios

She said Ready Player One was going to be her popcorn pick of the month. She might've forgot though. That was like two or three weeks ago.

Chris Thom

@Richard - And The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was seen in The 'Burbs.

Mike Lemon

Like Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995), the true story of the longest trial in U.S. history.

Mike Lemon

I know a perfect poll.. Swedish coming-of-age movies from 1998 😆😆

Björn Karlsson

Wolf lol Wolf!

Allen W. McDonnell

Well, if we're going to do polls with just one movie in them - 1 Horror of Dracula (58) 2 Horror of Dracula (58) 3 Horror of Dracula (58) 4 Horror of Dracula (58) 5 Horror of Dracula (58)

Richard Maurer

It's deja vu all over again, but I'll once again put in my two cents and suggest Rambo: First Blood PT 2 for the 80's

Frank Edwards

You are both right. She did fall asleep to it, so considers it unseen, and it’s definitely one she plans to react to at some point.

Cole Jennett

In the movie Halloween both The Thing from Another World (51) and Forbidden Planet (56) are shown on the TV.

Richard Maurer

I feel like I've done this before, but Armageddon for the 1990's??

David Bockly

I feel like we are due for another Court Room/Lawyer Adjacent poll. So many good ones left!!

Cole Jennett

I again cast a vote for Close Encounters

Louisa Moritz

She said it in an intro somewhere. I think her exact paraphrased don't-quote-me-on-this words were that she tried to watch it and fell asleep. I may have just thrown her under the bus, for which I am deeply sorry.

Clarence Newman

She havent seen Interstellar. It's a not seen/reacted movie according to Popcorn request 🤔🤔🤔

Björn Karlsson

Yes, that could be in the poll. I watched that on VHS in the early 90s.

Clay F

You mean the Scarlet Johannson one 😉 have a great time!

JohnnyUtah

Each to their own, mate. It's all part of the fun of it. But I do agree that A Shot In The Dark was peak.

Clarence Newman

Sleeping With The Enemy?

Clarence Newman

She's watched Interstellar without us, Daniel - always a dagger to the heart in my opinion. If I remember correctly, she no like.

Clarence Newman

Yeah, TRAIL is awful. I was speaking only of the Panther films that actually star Sellers (whereas TRAIL is just a collection of unused footage). REVENGE has some great moments (like Dreyfus giving the eulogy) and it's nice to see Cato getting a bigger part in the story, but it feels more desperate than any of the other entries in the series. It's comedy is more bludgeoning than the clever and relatively restrained humor of the original. I still like it, but as I said, it's the only Panther film that I think could be considered less funny that the first one.

Stick Figure Studios

Okay, I'm going to change the parameters to 2 movies per era because I can't choose just 1 from the Heisei era. And I'm excluding Minus 1 also since she's doing that one already. Showa - Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster and Destroy All Monsters. Heisei - Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and Godzilla vs Destroyah. Millennium - Godzilla 2000 and GMK: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Post-Millennium - Shin Godzilla.

Richard Maurer

Sam Wilson

Since you're asking for poll ideas, I'll just reiterate one that I've been pushing for awhile: a Steven Spielberg poll. This might seem redundant after having just recently watched MUNICH and WAR OF THE WORLDS, but I don't care. More Spielberg on the channel is always a good thing. I would suggest you include all of the films he's directed that you haven't seen and do a themed week by watching the top three. Here they are: The Sugarland Express Duel Close Encounters of the Third Kind 1941 The Color Purple Empire of the Sun Always Amistad A.I. The Adventures of TinTin Bridge of Spies The BFG The Post Ready Player One The Fabelmans

Stick Figure Studios

Interstellar poll! 1: Interstellar 2: Interstellar 3: Interstellar 4: Interstellar 5: Interstellar

Daniel Karlsson

Glad you are enjoying your time away Cassie! "Eddie the Eagle" would be a pleasant extra, it's a nice little movie. It is a bit nostalgic for me, he was a bit of an introduction to Winter Olympic for me as a young kid. My mum used to love the figure skating, particularly Torvill and Dean, but watching some British bloke with Coke bottle glasses have a crack was interesting and the spirit of the Olympics. Coming from a place that, at the time, didn't have a great Winter Olympic presence it was a bit of a novelty. I wasn't expecting "Mystery, Alaska" and "This is where I leave you" to cause a tough choice. Cassie, I guess there is always a Popcorn Pick. I sent my poll idea through in an email when I submitted my winning choices through, but that email went in the void a while back. Being a US Presidential election year, and it does have an impact on news around the world, having a poll about US federal elections movies may be interesting for later in year (obviously trying to avoid actual current politics). I did throw together a list of movies that are relevant to the idea, and most of the one I am familiar with are pretty good: Dramatic * "The Front Runner" * "Primary Colors" * "Game Change" * "The Candidate" * "Wag the dog" Comedic * "The Campaign" * "Bulworth" * "Man of the Year" * "Irresistible" I am sure there are others, but these are that I am either familiar or were able to find with some quick searches. Obviously "Election" is another option, but as that is not about US federal elections, I didn't include in the list.

Mojo One Thousand

Yeah, I can go for a few choice selections form each of the eras, and I agree Shin Godzilla should be in the mix. If you could choose just one movie from each era for Cassie to watch, what would they be? Excluding the original of course.

Dan M

Since you're asking for poll ideas here's a few (I won't mention a Certain Poll twice in the same comments section.......................CLASSIC HORROR POLL!!!!!!! Sorry, couldn't help myself) Popcorn Requests Super poll - use a random number generator to pick 10 movies from the 6000+ movies that have one or more votes - that would be crazy fun Asian Martial Arts poll part II Classic Sci-Fi poll

Richard Maurer

While I wouldn't hate a Monsterverse series watch through what I'd really like is a James Bond-style Godzilla movie overview - Showa era, Heisei era, Millenium era right up to Shin Godzilla. Not expecting that to really happen, but I can dream, can't I? She should really watch Shin Godzilla though, it's on par with G:M1 (imo).

Richard Maurer

Great to see that you and your family had such a great time, well deserved, just a quick mention about a dog movie I think you and Carly would like starring James Belushi called K9. Hope you get time to watch it. All the very best. Chrissie ❤️

Christina Clegg

Fly Me To The Moon was a great one. The four of us saw it in the movie theater last weekend in Calgary since it was so high on Zach's wishlist. Scarjo and Channing Tatum were excellent together. I think you and Ben would love it. I know we did.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Ah, sage advice from Cassie's fellow Prairie Canadians! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQDsmJ7_gBg

Happy Hanukkah

Eddie the Eagle is great!

Benjerro

Looking forward to the Olympic reactions, not participated in a watch along for a while after the lineups didn’t appeal to me. I’d love see reactions to: The Conversation Network

Biggman83

Just throwing my vote behind an Eddie the Eagle watch. Hugh Jackman Calgary 88 and an uplifting story. Sounds like popcorn gold to me

Canadianant

So happy to hear that you had a great time in Canada - ... what a magnificent and picturesque nature , - so unlike Denmark, - we have a lot of islands, from small with no humans to the bigger ones with Copenhagen ... I have to rewatch "Chariots Of Fire", - the music by Vangelis is iconic and often reused in popular media, - I love the scene in "National Lampoon's Vacation", where Clark and Rusty race eachother at the parking lot at Wally World...

Jens Kristensen

I beg to differ, my friend. I LOVE "Revenge"! Sellers on top form, Burt Kwouk is hilarious, and Dyan Cannon is wonderful as Simone. It's "Trail of" that needs to be avoided like the plague. Definitely the wasabi pea of Panther movies.

Clarence Newman

I like your first suggestion in particular. We always talk about our personal favourites, but there are still plenty of heavyweight classics that Cassie really needs to see. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Training Day, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, An Officer and a Gentleman..... All great movies, huge hits, and boxes that need to be ticked by our favourite AmeriCanadian.

Clarence Newman

I suggest a poll of Clarence Newman's favourite films. I'd be well up for that! Oh and welcome back too.

Clarence Newman

Welcome back! I hope you're having a great time. Seeing those photos and your Instagram story, it looks like a really beautiful place. It reminds me a lot to the Alpine parts of Austria. I think you should watch Eddie the Eagle. It has the kind of spirit you'd expect from a sports movie, the type you'll only see in one of the top three medalists. What other polls? Oh boy, I had so many ideas. Here are some: - Random 5 poll from the top 50 of a selected decade from Popcornrequests - Classic (pre 1980s) war movie poll - Based on true story movie poll - Random 5 poll of Christopher McQuarrie's Letterboxd - British movies poll

Gábor Árki

I absolutely enthusiastically second Mystery Alaska. Such an underrated film.

Matthew Folz

And she's BACK!! Aboot dang time don'tchya know? Well...it's nice to have ya back. End of story. Looks like it's gon' be hot tomorrow... heat wave comin' in.

Chris Thom

"Coming up Canada!" as a Texan who moved north to Idaho 25 yrs. ago let me take this opportunity to recommend a Canadian true Christmas story set in McBride, B.C. starring Aidan Quinn, "The Horses of McBride" (2012). Two horses were found stranded in deep snow in the "high country" & a young woman fought to save them from being euthanized at Christmas. So how do you get them out? I do like "Mystery Alaska", great ice hockey movie.

Duane A Lavely

Golly, that was funny.

Stick Figure Studios

Huge thumbs up for Godzilla Minus One. After she watches Chariots of Fire she should find a YT clip of Mr. Bean playing the theme song for the London Olympics.

2-Can

Glad you enjoyed your week off Cass. I would definitely recommend you also watching "Eddie the Eagle", as ironically I think you will enjoy it more than the Medal Winners. I also think it has the most Olympic Spirit of them all too. Tough call between "Mystery Alaska" and "This is Where I Leave You" as they are both great films. But come on... "Mystery Alaska" has Russell Crowe and was filmed in Canmore. I have zero interest in seeing unnecessary sequels so I have not gone and will not be going to the theatre to watch those two movies.

Doug Fisher

An old favorite. Don't forget his dog, Dief, who was deaf but could read lips.

2-Can

Take off, eh!!

Philip Alan

I concur with you on the Japanese version of Godzilla. Cassie please watch the 1954 Japanese Gojira, it is a much better film than the USA version. Godzilla Minus One is fantastic. Very excited to get your take on them. A Classic Horror Poll would be great too. I would love for Cassie to watch Nosferatu, especially since the re-make will be out by the end of the year. There are plenty of classic horrors that Cassie should see.

Mark Vaderr

The only puzzling thing is the UCLA shirt.

Mark Vaderr

Thanks for the info Steve. I’ll definitely check out the surfing event. I’m totally into anything tropical in nature.

Dan M

Good one Celeste…that was a knee slapper. Or a knee cracker???

Dan M

Dan, it actually debuted in Toyko 2020 and went over ok. But it faces a lot of obvious venue challenges. Surfing will also be a part of our Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028, but beyond that it will be up to interest, viewership, etc. My hope is that the sport and athletes are showcased well enough. A friend used to joke that I like surfing films where 45 minutes should've been edited out, so I'm an easy sell. But I really hope the packages put together for broadcast are the best! 🏄

Steve Holton

Glad you are having a good time with your family. How about a 2000s teen comedies poll?

Alex Gorell

Patreon introduced free members recently. There is a breakdown of the free and paid numbers on the About tab for this page.

kaiielle

So this is the first time surfing is an event in the Olympics?

Dan M

Cassie you should do a review of the old TV series Due South. It is about a Canadian Mountie assigned to the counselor's office in Chicago as liaison with the city Police Department.

Allen W. McDonnell

Betty White has a short but memorable role in Lake Placid. What a gem of an actress she was. And you’re spot on with Lake Placid being perfect for Scary But Not Too Scary October.

Dan M

Enjoy your time in Canada. Please keep in your back pocket: -Invictus (2009) -The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) [or 2011 remake w/Daniel Craig] I suggest a Julia Roberts poll. Some candidates for the poll: *Charlie Wilson's War (2007) (based on true story) (Julia Roberts = awesome) *Michael Collins (1996) (based on true story) *Wonder (2017) *Closer (2004) *The Normal Heart (2014) *Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) *Mystic Pizza (1988)

Clay F

I have seen Godzilla Minus 1 2 times. I loved it. Cassie's heart is going to melt with the little girl in minus 1. She is so adorable. Eddie the Eagle is a good idea for Olympics. You are going to want a pallet cleanser from at least 2 of them. Good to see Mama Popcorn. Been a stretch since we last saw her.

Brian McGovern

Hey Cassie! Welcome back to the bridge and your captain’s seat! So happy to hear from you after what sounds like an amazing trip back to your roots in Canada. Family time, down time, and outdoor time…you can’t beat that trio. And Carly made it up to join in the fun?! No way, dude!! Those pics are fantastic!! I can picture myself right there sitting at a campfire, roasting marshmallows…and popping corn of course. Looking forward to joining you for Olympic week. But I beg of you…please, please, please watch Eddie the Eagle along with the medal winners. I’m willing to bet it will be your favorite among the 4 movies. And the OG Godzilla and Godzilla Minus 1! YES!! Do I smell another theme with the Monsterverse movies to follow those gems? 🤞🤞🤞 One more thing…canoe tipping? Was it a douche canoe? 😉 Can’t wait for the upcoming live.

Dan M

I thought that sounded incredibly high, even for Cassie.

Richard Maurer

It must be the 54 movie, but I had this horrible nightmare thought of it showing up in a future Upcoming post - and it's the 98 Matthew Broderick version (shudder). Nice last name.

Richard Maurer

Her 401k will have a healthy growth spurt right around November 6th,a monthly 15% for 5 consecutive fiscal years until fully vested, after that let it ride at 7%...

Celeste McAllister

The Thing from Another World !!!

Bill Maurer

I think so too. It can only mean the original Godzilla. Nice last name

Bill Maurer

Several people are very happy that she's finally watching Godzilla, me being one of them.

Richard Maurer

And OG Godzilla - 1954 I assume.

Richard Maurer

Great to see you're doing Godzilla Minus 1 and OG 1954 Godzilla (which version? Gojira (japanese) or Godzilla (US) - I hope you watch Gojira, it's definitely the better version). And now that you're the doing OG Godzilla that'll be one less film in the running for the Classic Horror poll - you didn't think I'd forget about the Classic Horror poll, did you?

Richard Maurer

Well, I did my best to create an Olympic photograph and just uploaded it over at FB under your Olympic announcement... 😉

Dirk-Jan (DJ)

Well, I know someone who is going to be very, very happy with you finally watching both the original GODZILLA and the new GODZILLA MINUS ONE. :-) Anyway, welcome back. Hope you had a nice break. Looking forward to the movies this week. I, TONYA is an interesting film the lends a very particular point of view to a notoriously scandalous real-life event in Olympic history. The cast is great (Margot Robbie in particular) and the story is so outrageous that it is almost unbelievable. It's sort of like a FARGO that actually did happen. CHARIOTS OF FIRE is one of the most moving and inspirational true stories that's ever been turned into a movie. Winner of Best Picture the year it came out, I'm sure you will enjoy it and find it worthwhile. Don't listen to those who say it's too slow or too boring. It's a wonderful movie. You'll probably be humming the main theme song by Vangelis for weeks afterwards But the movie I'm most interested in seeing your reaction to this week is (and this is no surprise to anyone I'm sure) the one by my favorite director Steven Spielberg. MUNICH is one of his best films (certainly one of his most complex, mature and powerful). The cast is superb (filled with a number of faces you will recognize), the story is harrowing and the questions it raises are of supreme significance in our contemporary world. It won't be an easy watch, but like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and SCHINDLER'S LIST it is an important one. Remember when you view it that it was made shortly after 9/11 and was intended as, among other things, a comment on how a nation deals with terrorism. As always, keep up the good work.

Stick Figure Studios

Got to go with Mystery, Alaska (1999). Got to go with Burt Reynolds. When in Doubt… Go with Burt. It’s a Great Life Lesson… and a Great Film ;-) Also, Mystery, Alaska (1999), written by David E. Kelley, very easily leads to Lake Placid (1999), written by David E. Kelley. Lake Placid (1999) is a perfect Scary but Not Too Scary film for October. It’s a very Fun Jaws-Like movie, with a Terrific Cast and Terrific Script.

Larry Darrell

Except maybe for REVENGE.

Stick Figure Studios

Glad you're having a great time. We all miss you to and look forward to you being back.

Katie Jackson

Mystery Alaska is a really, really good movie.

Matt Wathen

There is one film that is a favorite of both Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, and it was recommended to Cassie and Carly… by McQuarrie, in person, at the premiere. Klute (1971) They have still not watched it. I don’t know if I could have waited this long… just saying ;-)

Larry Darrell

She said in one of the lives (last Extra Butter?) that that number isn't right. I think she said it is actually around 3500.

Mike Lemon

Live in Ontario never traveled that far West,Manitoba .But always cut thru states to get there shorter.Alberta and BC look amazing. Enjoy your reunion.

Tim C

Interesting thing, Rupert Grint(Ron Weasley) was almost cast as the main character in Eddie the Eagle. I still kinda wish he was.

YodatheHobbit

Honestly of those three movies in theaters, Fly Me to the Moon is the one I'd most like to see on the channel!

Tyler Foster

It’s a shame your mom didn’t get to be with y’all for the other M:I reactions.

Robert Durant

Great photos! You’ve been working so hard for us - AND being a 3-kid mom and wife and best friend to Ben - so nice you’re getting to exhale a bit! Looking forward to the new content, but don’t wreck yourself - we’ll still be here when you get back. God bless and safe journeys!

Above Average Dave

I'm happy to hear you guys are having a good time up in Canada. You bring happiness to a lot of people and your vacation is well deserved. My favorite summer event was always gymnastics growing up but the last games I watched I found myself really invested in fencing.

My_Cousin_Mose

Poll idea- True story legal movies from 1995 starring James Woods. Or the other idea I had- "Movies shown in other movies I reacted too". For example, Top Hat (1935) was the movie they watched in The Green Mile.

Mike Lemon

Great picks for Olympic week! MUNICH (2005) is one of Spielberg’s best.

Joe “Retroclassic” Pinney

Watching the first Pink Panther is obligatory if you ever want to get to the rest, but please know it's the least funny of them all.

Paul Cox

Cassie... glad you and your family are enjoying the time at home. The photo of you and Mom looks great - such an incredible location! Each of this week's movies depict very different intense dramas of the Olympics. I'm really looking forward to this - Cue John Williams and let the games begin. Have fun and safe travels!

Terry Yelmene

Great that you're watching Chariots of Fire (1981)!! This might amuse you, Rowan Atkinson's comedy character Mr Bean did a comedy skit of the signature theme song at the 2012 London Olympic Games' closing ceremony. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwzjlmBLfrQ

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Twisters isn't out yet, but we plan on seeing it this weekend. We did see A Quiet Place Day One and liked it for the kinda small story about mortality and humanity that it was. Also saw the new Channing Tatum movie (Fly Me to the Moon) and I think you're really going to like that one. Between Mystery, Alaska and This Is Where I Leave You, you should watch both as those are both movies that you will really like. And I know you're probably not looking ahead to scary season yet, but you should consider Longlegs when you get into Halloween this year, as I'm sure it'll be available to watch at home by then.

Congratulations Cassie, you've just reached 10,000 Patreon subscribers!

Glad you're having a good time up here in Canada 🇨🇦. Whereabouts are you? You've probably said before but i cant remember! Nice Olympic choices! I'm planning to see Twisters this coming weekend. It's been too long since I've gone to the movies.

Orcagirl78

I'm tempted to write "Yankee go home!" but there's just too many ways that could be interpreted with this picture... :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Glad you all had a nice reunion and some well-deserved time off! For Olympics please everybody watch the surfing events in Tahiti. Surfing will need a lot of good “Breaks” to survive as an Olympic sport. 😊🏄‍♂️

Minus one is the best movie of 2023. I love Paris, enjoy and have a great time. Wish I could be there for the Olympics

Bill Maurer

I just wanted to say it’s always nice to hear about you spending time with your family and love ones. I feel my heart swell with happiness for you. Thank you for your time and effort into this channel. It may sound odd to some, but you are like family to us.

Jerrod Acree

Really happy you are getting to enjoy some summer time in Canada! Take advantage of it as much as you can! I promise you would absolutely love everything about Mystery Alaska. Also, I got tickled by the Olympic movies being ranked as gold, silver, and bronze. Very on point!

BibbitduBois

Glad you had a good break Cassie, Family time is a must. By the way guys I am taking bets how far into the Chariots of Fire reaction before we hear Cassie say "Oh! I know this music!"?

Neil

Unfortunately for us, she has seen the Adjustment Bureau.

Cole Jennett

You and your Mom are representing the wrong country in these pics😉

Cole Jennett

Welcome back!😊 The longer distance rowing races can be fun and quite dramatic! As for a new poll, perhaps you should ask your good friend Tom Cruise for a list of films he'd recommend, and we'll pick 2 or 3: you could call it The Cruise Choose!😆

Chris Clarke

Twisters comes out on Friday, we saw Quiet Place Day One, I didn't like it but Zach did (He is still in Canada btw) I would wait to take Ben to Twisters. You two will probably like that one better. 😀

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

I do believe Carly will be there for G -1.0! Squee!!

Jon Johns

Very happy you’re having a great time in Canada, it looks incredible. I’d definitely recommend watching Eddie the Eagle as it’s a good movie and more or a lighthearted film than the others.

Dean Holt

That’s so awesome to hear. Maybe you should prerecord some content for the Holidays, so you can take off December.

Uncle Phoenix

That's my kind of country, just beautiful...I can't wait to go 'Clubbing' with Tanya Harding and Yes on Mystery Alaska!

Celeste McAllister

I'll be visiting Paris to see a few Olympic events, so good to get in the mood. Looking forward to the Godzilla movies. -1 was one of my favorite movies from last year.

Pickupthepieces76

No apology needed Cassie ! Take a well deserved time off.

Neil Varma

"Hey Hey Eh Eh!" Today I realized that Canadian Neil Young was actually singing: "Eh, eh, my my, rock and roll can never die." "I took a deep breath and break, now I feel so genuinely excited to be back in the bed" I'll have to use that. "Now that I took a break, I'm ready to go back to bed." :-)

Happy Hanukkah

How's your little sister and Matt?

William Bryan

I love "this is where I leave you" love casting and the life moment

MatthewBrown74m

Maybe "Adjustment Bureau" with Matt Damon.....I haven't searched YouTube but haven't run across it from anyone. I think it's a fun movie.

Joel Wayne

Her 401K will help fund her 401k! ;)

Art of Free Speech

YAY I am excited

MatthewBrown74m

I didn't know you were stay up in Canada all month. You have already been there two weeks? I think.

Rick Williams

YOU HAVE TO WATCH EDDIE THE EAGLE! amazing movie that tugs the heart strings. Would be great for you and Carly

Chris Matthews

+vote on doing the 4th place Eddie the eagle. The rest will be a first watch for me too.

Brandon

I, Tonya.....seriously took 3rd in the poll?....Lol. Looking forward to most of the upcoming additions. Glad you and the family are having such a well needed break and me time. I've recently moved closer to family again and couldn't be happier.

Joel Wayne

Please, please, please watch Eddie the Eagle and, when you do, have Carly watch it with you. You will love it. I’d like to suggest that you also watch The World’s Fastest Indian. It would make a great two-fer with Eddie the Eagle. Both are wonderfully inspirational true stories.

Just Plain Bob

I have not seen I Tonya, looking forward to seeing all three. Glad you are enjoying your family time. These times are always precious.

Tom Furze

Going to see twisters this Saturday. I didn't see a quiet place because theaters are notoriously NOT quiet. I'm going to wait and watch that one at home in a week or so

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Godzilla Minus One ????? Did I read that right ????? Only "The Searchers" could make me happier. Hopefully Carly can join in on that one. Good day, eh !!!

Bill Maurer

While I like Munich... I think it's a great film... I don't think it's an "olympic" film. Sure the opening happens at the Olympics and it's a big moment in Olympic history but it's not about that. Also I expect the youtube comments to be REAL REAL REAL ugly. so yeah please also watch Eddie the Eagle. It's a REAL good time.

djKENTO

You deserve the time off. So glad you and your family are having a great time.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

I would like a timetravel / Alternative Realities poll. The Time Machine Run Lola Run Frequency Deja Vu Coherence Triangle Twelve Monkeys Happy Death Day The Dead Zone Sliding Doors P.s You'll love Godzilla Minus One! P.P.S glad you're having a lovely time

rakesh

I was just on YouTube and was happy to see you now have a 401K. It's never too early. :-P
