[YT Edit] Star Trek: TNG Key Episodes (S5 E26 | S6 E01)

Just wondering...Has Cassie ever recognized Brent Spiner (Data - ST-TNG) and Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb - Firefly) - in Independence Day (1996)? I just finished the watch along for Independence Day last night, and she didn't notice them...but she did watch ID before ST-TNG and Firefly...just curious.

In 2019 there was a traveling Star Trek exhibit that came to Detroit. Data's head was in that exhibit. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxncWJmhWV6/?igsh=bzJoeDliZmlnajls&img_index=1

I like the doc on voyager better then data

This reaction vid only makes me want to see Cassie tackle episodes of Voyager. I think she and Captain Janeway have the same opinion regarding time travel. :-)

Richard Levesque

lol the back story of this was that they didn't know if TNG was gonna get renewed for another season so they made part1 as a cliffhanger at end of season to attract more fans XD

I love the reactions! Never thought it'd be so fun! But Cassie, Samuel Clemens IS Mark Twian! Also the Bellhop is Author Jack London! Oh my! You didn't know that Mark Twian and Samuel Clemens are the same people???? MY! MY!

Chain of Command is the best episode of TNG by a wide margin! I love Jellico so much.

I would second „A fistful of Datas“ (Clever. funny) „Chain of command“ (A must watch!!! 4 Lights!!!), „Ship in a bottle“ (Clever mind twister & good sequel) as the top tier. „Tapestry“ and „Lessons“ (both Picard stories!!! Enough said.) go on second tier. Third tier is „The chase“ (Clever, should have been a 2 parter). I think Cassie would enjoy „Relics“ and it is meaningful to all who love Star Trek produced in the ~20th century, i.e. up to VOY and Movie 10, but it wouldn’t be one of my choices if ranked. I like the other ones too, but due to ranking they unfortunately wouldn’t make the cut.

And so the debates begin. I think most of us agree that Relics and Tapestry are a must, and the only knock against Chain of Command is that it's less than cuddly. Superb 2 parter otherwise. Fistful of Datas is good fun, Lessons (as Jason said) is very "Cassie" and even references The Inner Light, and Face of the Enemy is a strong Troi episode. I would also throw in Starship Mine (Picard does Die Hard), Frame of Mind (a very good Riker episode) and Timescape (very clever and a lot of fun). On the other side of it, Rascals and Birthright are pretty bland for me. This is why there's a poll, I guess, but the one thing Cassie should take out of it is that there's plenty of good stuff coming!

I wasn't a big fan of Chain of Command because it felt too much like a war movie

Ranked choice voting ftw 😂

Cassie, as I believe others have mentioned, Samuel Clemens IS Mark Twain. The pen name Mark Twain was derived from his days working on steamboats, with “mark twain” being a unit of measurement of water depth, a concern for steamboats which were at risk of running aground in the sometimes shallow waters of the rivers they navigated. One of Twain’s greatest works is “A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur’s Court.” It’s one of the earliest and best time travel books. The bellhop that Data befriends is Jack London, another famous author. He wrote wildlife adventures, my personal favorite being “White Fang”, told from the perspective of the wolf/dog hybrid that gives the story its name. As for the “49er”, that’s a reference to the California gold rush of 1849. The miners that flocked to the area after gold was discovered were called 49ers. The football team was named after these miners.

I find that if you rate every episode /10, this season may not score as many episodes in the 9+ category as s4 or 5, but if you average the season's scores, this season gets the highest average. As for the 2 parters, I feel that doing it this was will just automatically preclude Birthright from being selected, because there are 4 lights. While she's being counting the 2 parters as 1, which is great, I'd still advocate for doing both 2 parters as extras and we don't need to include in the vote.

Jason Gemmell

Relics, ship in a Bottle and second chances are all "must watch" because of 'guest star'. Rascals, fistful of Data's and face of the enemy are all good fun. Chainbof command is easily a top 5 trek episode (all series) Tapestry is a great Picard episode and Lessons is a very "Cassie" episode

Jason Gemmell

Relics is a must watch

Please consider having the 2 parters go head-to-head in their own poll and having the winner either advance to the final poll or get a bye to the reactions. Otherwise, you'll just be watching parts of 2 parters for most of the season. Either way, Season 6 should be more of a mixed bag of episodes, and that just means the reactions will be interesting to see. Thanks for the content! On to Season 6! Engage!

With 2 mid-season 2 parts, I really don't know how we can reasonably limit season 6 to just 4 episodes. Don't see how you can leave out any of: Relics, Rascals, A fistful of Data's, Chain of Command, Ship in a Bottle, Face of the Enemy, Tapestry, Birthright, The Chase, Lessons, Second Chances.

Jason Gemmell

Certainly one of my favourites, it's just some good fun that doesn't take itself too serious. Much needed after the heavy (and equally favourite-worthy) past 2 finales.

Jason Gemmell

Yeah, they did Mark Twain dirty with this episode. (Also, he used up so much screentime just being annoying.)

WastedPo

"I thought it was Mark Twain" 😆 🤣 😂

james sweeney

Cassie wants to kill Mark Twain! Oh, boy...

Chuck Jacobson

This two-parter is not, I think, a favorite of the Star Trek fan base. And yes, the performance of Mark Twain is especially irritating, which is kind of a shame because having him involved is a great idea that should have been much more interesting. On the other hand, also encountering a young Jack London is a winner for me.

Andrew Pulrang

Who are the animals who don't like Star Trek?

Justin Samlal

And here I was just thinking about what I want to watch tonight! BTW, did you find the trek shirt?
