Coming up...

How was your weekend? I had lunch on my back porch on Saturday, basking in the sunlight, I took a 12 minute nap out there and got sunburnt. Then SUNDAY IT FREAKING SNOWED! I am depressed now. Utah is such a tease. We had some soccer games, and saw Fallguy with Carly. I thought it was so fun, entertaining, funny and just had a great time! Did any of you see it this weekend? Or any other movies?

I am looking at my May calendar and not quite sure how it will all happen. May is the new December for moms I think. There are so many end of the year festivities for the kids and it is amazing, but do we need a bubble day and a beach day and a disney day? (ok i'm in on that one) it's just a lot but all good things, all good things.

Apparently I was feeling overly ambitious last Monday when I said I would try to have 4 uploads, but we are starting off the week with a bang and an Apocalypse NOW. Then Smokey and the Bandit, I am not sure what to expect while looking at this cover? Finally, our wildcard pick of Total Recall-do we think this is something Carly would/should watch with me?

Today I posted the Foreign Movie FINAL poll and also Star Trek Season 4 Poll #1 and Star Trek Season 4 poll #2.  Vote because you care!

Still to come is Last Action Hero, Pleasantville, based on a historical event poll? and MORE!

IMPORTANT!! TRIVIA NIGHT will tentatively be June 1st! Trying to have it on a weekend and enough time to prepare!

Ok tell me something good, I need to get out of this snow slump

Love you to Mars and back,

Cassie

Comments

You should watch Babylon 5 too. I recommend starting with The Gathering: Special Edition (Pilot), then seasons 1 and 2 before watching the TV movie In The Beginning, as it contains spoilers to story arcs in season 1 and 2.

Netherburn

Quite whining. At least you have pro hockey now and the beautiful parks.

edgecenter

I would like to suggest the Shazam and Black Adam movies and the old Danny Kay court jester movie sense you liked him in White Christmas.

Scot Kiser

Take a very close look at the last seconds of Total Recall and see if it feels like the chess piece scene at the end of X men last stand.

Scot Kiser

He now goes to his fathers. In whose mighty company he shall not be ashamed

Scot Kiser

“Tom Selleck, from Three Men and a Baby.” 🙄 (Magnum P.I. Fans all over the country are rolling over in their La-Z-Boys. Haha) I can’t remember if I saw a PiB for Quigley Down Under. The Blue bloods police commissioner was about as synonymous with “cowboy” as Sam Elliot, there for a while. “Three Men and a Baby”… lol

Steve

Carly should watch with you as often as possible you two play well off each other.

Scot Kiser

I'm surprised Cassie Hasn't watched Total Recall yet! One or "AH-Nold's" best! The old one is way better than the new one. I just hope she isn't confused.

Kyle Prince

Star Trek III in 4K in my local cinema in June! Won't have the Cassie reaction unfortunately, but so looking forward to seeing it on the big screen!🖖

Chris Clarke

The River Wild is a very good movie that gets zero love.

Korny

Albert Brooks is not that well known anymore, but… Meryl Streep!! Come on! There are a lot of Actors that have gotten the spotlight on PiB, which has been great and no complaints, but… It would be cool to see some Actresses be the subject of a Poll sometime. And Meryl Streep would be the perfect place to start. Sophie’s Choice (1982) Silkwood (1983) Out of Africa (1985) Defending Your Life (1991) The River Wild (1994) The Bridges of Madison County (1995) Feel Free to add more.

Larry Darrell

I endorse both LA Story and Defending Your Life. Both are great. In LA Story notice the name for resort hotel Pollo del Mar (= chicken of the sea, ha!)

RandyCC

It really surprises me that no reactor has ever done "Defending Your Life." I've even recommended it to a few who profess to enjoy rom-coms and smart comedies, but no one ever goes for it. (Probably because it's not that well-known, and most reactors go for titles that are popular.)

WastedPo

@mikethemotormouth Nooooooo! I thought up this poll as I was brainstorming ideas to get Reign Over Me onto a poll lol.

My_Cousin_Mose

Agreed though I say Punch-Drunk Love instead of Reign

mikethemotormouth

As an Adam Sandler fan, I've DEFINITELY heard that before

mikethemotormouth

More wacky, less egghead should be my mantra.

Korny

LA Story and Defending Your Life are both supernatural romcoms. They are both wonderful.

Korny

R.I.P. Bernard Hill (King Theoden in Lord of the Rings)

Richard Maurer

R.I.P. Bernard Hill (King Theoden).

Richard Maurer

Good! You & Clay (above) are leading us away from boring violence.

David Fuchs

Yes, Pleasantville! You & Chuck (below) have the right idea.

David Fuchs

Yeah Total Recall has way more.

REDR58

Yes, I saw Cassie's great reactions to great dramas & comedies. I'll hope for the best--even after she told Eric what her favorites are.

David Fuchs

Honestly, there is so much variety on here that it's almost stupid. I have an HBO max subscription but I still go back to this channel to watch my favorite reactions.

ArsTropica

Are you kidding? Everybody has said that (including me).

Stick Figure Studios

I don't think TOTAL RECALL has the same level of violence as WAR OF THE WORLDS.

Stick Figure Studios

Have you seen the 5th quarter movie also great movie

Kevin Mazza

Great movie.

Sean S

Hey, that was really kind of you to edit your comment, thanks very much. Sorry to come off a little abrupt, like that but thank you again! Much appreciated!!

Coleton B.

Violence yes, but it's primarily a sci-fi movie. She's turns her head away at scenes ( which is fair enough) but it's a great sci-fi movie that they will enjoy.

rakesh

2 weeks...

rakesh

I can

rakesh

Can you not post spoilers?

Coleton B.

Open your mind.

RJ MacReady

Invincible with Mark Wahlberg and Elizabeth Banks true story of a man leaving out a dream of playing pro football

Kevin Mazza

Maybe. But the book it's based on is called "Heart of Darkness" and I believe Kurtz is nihilistic in the end even if the story itself is more nuanced, Plus I was more thinking of Cassie's perspective of liking happy endings and such.

Scott Macaulay

To piggyback, poll idea - actresses who “dress down” or wear make-up to be “less attractive”, and won/nominated Oscars for their efforts. Don’t make me list them now, though!

Marja

The 39 has great actresses but it is boring and doesn’t even pass the Bechdel test with an all female cast.

Marc DiPaolo

That’s not a great one. I’d give that a B.

Marc DiPaolo

@R Harper - if I had enormous influence this would be a waaaaaay different channel than it is now. And no, that doesn't mean constant horror movies. But I'm a realist, so I also know that my version of a channel would be a way less profitable one too.

Richard Maurer

Smokey and the Bandit is quite hilarious. Total Recall I think is probably one of Arnolds best movies along with Terminator 2 and Predator. Yeah there's violence But I think it really has the same level as War of the Worlds. I reckon Carly will be able to handle it. Paul Verhoeven had a trifecta of great movies, robocop, this and Starship Troopers. I hope you get to see that one as well. It's a great Sci-fI movie, as is Total Recall.

rakesh

Hi Cassie, I don`t know if anyone else has said this, but IMO, Carly would enjoy Smokey & The Bandit rather than Total Recall. Taking into a/c her previous reactions.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

Really.? I've heard it's not even very good as a movie.

Stick Figure Studios

I hope not because unlike those other three you mention, it is a bad movie.

Stick Figure Studios

@Scott: Also, I don't think APOCALYPSE NOW is nihilistic. It's more complex than that.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes, APOCALYPSE NOW is more harrowing than TOTAL RECALL but also more important and more substantive.

Stick Figure Studios

It is.

Stick Figure Studios

Another film based on historicak events that I think you would enjoy, Cassie (and I've been saying that ever since you watched AMADEUS) is the movie IMMORTAL BELOVED with Gary Oldman as the Beethoven.

Stick Figure Studios

It has a fantastic line up of stars

Kevin Mazza

Cassie might I suggest a movie based on true events one of the most moving movies I have ever watched it is called The 5th Quarter I'm sure this movie will really move you!!

Kevin Mazza

If it's the extended cut I'll probably go.

Richard Maurer

@ David Freese - Change is possible, and in this case, desirable.

Richard Maurer

@Bill Maurer - Thanks, I've had it since I was a child.

Richard Maurer

Either would have been fine for my self-defenestration.

Richard Maurer

@ Chris the other star is Don Cheadle.

My_Cousin_Mose

Hi Cassie! I watched war of the worlds with Tom Cruise but if you want a real story that goes the way it was written by H G wells go to you tube and look for Jeff Wayne’s war of the worlds with Richard Burton as the journalist and David Essex as the artillery man and Justin Hayward from the Moody Blues band he plays the journalist thoughts I think you will like this version the best it holds true to the story.

Gene Balfrey

10h ago, ppl made very good points, they were telling me that Cassie did "Mr Holland's Opus" & other great dramas & comedies. That she's not stuck on sci-fi. Last wk, I saw her "Holland." He learned THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME. I REALLY loved Cassie's reaction to the Masterpieces of "no place like home": Wizard of Oz & Wonderful Life. I saw that I may not fit in when Cassie told Eric that sci-fi (Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, etc) are her favorites. I'd love to reply to all the good points you guys made. (Scholars wrote entire books on these subjects.)

David Fuchs

Wow I guess you told me huh? Maybe I think Star Trek is funny when I eat pot brownies. I may not understand it but it ENTERTAINS me. If I thought everything was high art I wouldn't watch anything. Now would I? That's a nice try though. Not everyone likes the things that I do? 🤣🤣🤣. I would certainly hope not.

Zachary

She only usually does horror in October.

David Freese

Not everyone likes what you do! Don’t watch if you don’t like it. Some people just like things that entertain them and aren’t looking to watch high art. They want to be entertained.

David Freese

You know what's on also on Netflix? Harriet a beautiful story about Harriet Tubman whose face will be on the Twenty Dollar very soon.

Zachary

I believe that is the plan.

Stick Figure Studios

Carly needs to come back for xmen origins, wolverine

Eric Wallace

Agree RM Apocalypse becomes tiresome very quickly. You should use your enormous influence to get a classic horror pictures on the schedule. What are you waiting for?

R Harper

All good things? As a Star Trek: TNG fan, I feel like I've heard that before...

Marshmallow Venom

If it’s theatrical cut I’d probably go myself

Cole Jennett

I could say that about Stargate, Big Trouble In Little China, every Star Trek episode, Both Trons, 3 men and a Baby, Crocodile Dundee. Unlike those The Total Recall remake will most likely never be shown on here. All that stuff I have to deal with on weekly basis. However I have learned to eat my pot brownies or take my psychedelic mushrooms and just deal with it.

Zachary

Yeah, it holds up!

Mike LL

The "Total Recall" remake was totally stupid. AND boring. I actually fell asleep, and I don't recall EVER doing that for ANY movie before. And that's really saying something for a film that features approximately 90 minutes of continuous automatic weapons fire.

Michael Gilbrook

LOTR in theaters in June. You have a chance to see it on the big screen for the first time

Hankster

I think the less said about SHOWGIRLS the better.

Stick Figure Studios

I love MIDNIGHT MASS. I'd be interested to see Cassie's reaction to that as well (along with THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE; I'm a big Mike Flanagan fan).

Stick Figure Studios

I watched it right after Burt Reynolds died. It's still very entertaining. The sequels not so much.

Stick Figure Studios

Sharkey's Machine is a favorite of mine.

Bill Maurer

Can’t wait for this week to start. (if you couldn’t tell, this being like my fifth comment) I was looking at the posters at the top and it made me think… it’s like Cassie raided my old VHS collection. This is an Awesome Week!!

Larry Darrell

Lol 🤣🤣. Yeah that was bad wasn't it.

Zachary

The Total Recall remake wasn't bad , merely stupid. The premise of a tunnel through the earth in that fashion is and will always be impossible, any scientist would say so. I agree with one thing, Kate is far better than Collin Farrell.

John

Last Action Hero shows Arnold’s self awareness, it’s a very fun movie.

Korny

Open window or closed?

Larry Darrell

I agree with you, Rich

John

Yes. Yes. Yes. Carly should watch Total Recall with you. It's so much fun. She should watch Smokey and the Bandit as well for that matter. It would be interesting to see both of your reactions to the one time "sexist man alive".

Joe Monroe

Last action hero is proof that Arnie is human and prone to the odd mistake

LDC7080

You have to wonder how these studios can budget these type films at those levels. 1000s of union people seem to work on every film, big or small, the economics are hard to understand.

Joe

Classy Cassie, You should do a remake poll the Total Recall remake wasn't bad, not as good as the original. Still decent though. I might be little bit bias though I am a huge Kate Beckinsale fan.

Zachary

Cassie has already subjected Carly to some pretty rough films (lol), including "We Were Soldiers", "Braveheart", "Fury", and "The Patriot".

Joe

I would love to see Cassie react to the limited series "Midnight Mass" for spooky October. That would be a wild ride!

Joe

Yeah, it's one of the great documentaries on the making of a movie. I actually saw it as an adolescent before I ever watched APOCALYPSE NOW.

Stick Figure Studios

Nice last name.

Bill Maurer

And every actor they could think of/ book back in 1960!!! LOL!

ContrabandDonut

Anyone see Smokey and The Bandit recently? I haven't seen it in a long time. Does it hold up?

ContrabandDonut

Once again Gabor you always have the best suggestions, and three great ones this time!

Mike LL

Because Francis' wife, Eleanor Coppolla died recently I just rewatched her Heart of Darkness documentary. Holy crackers, what a documentary. That had to be a wild experience making Apocalypse Now. I haven't gotten to a rewatch of Apocalypse Now..but its on my list.

ContrabandDonut

This is a great time to watch Smokey and the Bandit as it is on Netflix right now. And you know what else is also on Netflix right now? AIRPORT from 1970! First of the 1970's disaster movies. It's great! (Can't miss a chance to plug one of my 5 movies from my trivia pick list!)

Mike LL

When modern artists re-did and re-released the song for Haiti relief, in a very similar ‘Huh?’ moment, Vince Vaughan is there in the back……. for some reason.

Lamar Smith

I understood that reference!

Mike LL

We chatted on Discord quite a bit on the first trivia night, but now it all takes place on Youtube and the quiz site, so Discord is not involved except maybe as a place to gather waiting for the event to begin, so no, Discord is not really necessary anymore.

Mike LL

Uncle Phoenix - My movie trivia skills are quite good. But trivia always has a little luck involved, depending if you happen to have knowledge the film in question. And I did say 'probably' win 'once in a while'.

Richard Maurer

My niece made my family watch Fried Green Tomatoes. I wanted to throw myself out a window.

Richard Maurer

I just meant "needs" to be seen by anybody who truly loves movies or takes cinema (or just art in general) at all seriously and Cassie is definitely one of those

Stick Figure Studios

It is pulpy violence, but I don't think Carly experiences it that way. She doesn't seem to make the distinction between so-called "realistic" violence and over-the-top ridiculous violence. She treats it all as if it were real and it affects her that way, so I think it would be a mistake to subject her to the kind of violence in TOTAL RECALL.

Stick Figure Studios

Kind of like the Star Wars Holiday Special. I just know she doesn't enjoy dark, nihilistic movies. I don't know that it 'needs' to be seen really, but probably should be for cinema context and pop references.

Scott Macaulay

Yes, I've seen many Cronenberg films and yes, TOTAL RECALL is tamer than them, but Carly hasn't seen one and we're not talking about her watching a Cronenberg film. We're talking about her watching TOTAL RECALL which, from *her* perspective, would make FIRST BLOOD look like BAMBI. I don't think it would be at all helpful or a comfort to her to say that however unpleasant the violence she'd be seeing in TR is, there are still other movies out there that are worse.

Stick Figure Studios

We don't know yet, but I think the theatrical cut is thc best.

Stick Figure Studios

And a few that you have. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

APOCALYPSE NOW is one of those movies that, whether one "likes" it or not, just needs to be seen.

Stick Figure Studios

I’ve probably said this in half a dozen posts prior to this one, but take a good look at the myriad of movies that Cassie and Carly have reacted to. There’s a little bit of everything covering almost every genre of movies from several decades going back to the 50’s that range from Oscar winners to absolute clunkers. I think Cassie has done an incredible job of providing a great mix of entertainment to please most people. Everyone has different tastes, and not everyone is going to like all of the content on this channel, or on any reactors channel for that matter. And that’s okay. But you can’t please everyone all of the time. Please go back over her catalogue of reactions and you might rethink how you feel about the is channel and this community.

Dan M

Cassie did you make it to the Kentucky derby

harvard

Anyway, weekends are made for yard work, and my annual war on weeds began with a preemptive strike against a rebel crabgrass stronghold.

Elias Shaikh

Oh my gosh yes, Total Recall! Cassie and Carly: Hang on to your seats on that wild ride.

Elias Shaikh

Carly would be out after the opening "Thing-esque" scene in Total Recall (which will put Cassie behind a blanket). It'll be a tough watch, but I think Cassie will find AN way more harrowing and distressing. Its one of those movies that stays with you. Never get out of the boat Cassie ...

John Drake

There’s a British guitar-centric channel called ‘Wings of Pegasus’ and I saw videos of Buck Owens and Jerry Reed playing some SMOKING guitar. They may play up the hick persona but those were truly gifted musicians.

Lamar Smith

I absolutely accept that but, to me, the voice sounds so different, more baritone than, say, ‘Eastbound.’

Lamar Smith

Total Recall with the back of Carly's hands...

ArsTropica

@richard Maurer IDK. If you can go back and look at past questions, the purely movie trivia questions are also very challenging. (The really tough ones are questions related to the varies sub plots in the movies. )

Uncle Phoenix

Everyone's saying Cassie won't like Total Recall, but I think it has better shot of her liking it than Apocalypse Now.

Richard Maurer

I don't think Cassie will like Apocalypse Now but it will be interesting to watch with her I guess

Scott Macaulay

Jon Johns - "if you watch all the YouTube reaction videos" is exactly why I don't join in. If it were just straight movie trivia I'd be there every time, probably even win once in a while.

Richard Maurer

Horror yes, thrillers are ok once in a while, but NEVER in a horror poll.

Richard Maurer

@David - Just because you don't like a thing doesn't mean that thing is bad, it just means YOU don't like it. And only watching Oscar winners is just limiting, not something to brag about.

Richard Maurer

idea for a poll... "And the Oscar goes to..." a poll of movies who had a best actor, or best picture nomination. That might help elevate some movie selections?

Roger Hagerty

Just FYI: "Last Action Hero" has a lot of references to other movies, many you have not seen.

JAKH

Nope.

Ross Horner

Have you not noticed her recent reactions to Mr. Holland’s Opus, Steel Magnolias, Secretariat, and Lincoln?!

Dan M

Please try to have a trivia night at an earlier time at some point so us Europeans can take part too for once. :)

Petr Melechin (ElonX)

I think when Cassie started this channel, she and Carly were probably equally squeamish about certain things in movies. But over time, as Cassie as watched more things that pushed her limits and exposed her directly to a lot of the things that were so upsetting, she's now more desensitized to it than Carly is. So whenever Carly watches something gruesome or scary, Cassie seems less bothered by it (though still plenty freaked out, of course lol).

Stranger2Reality

That's one of my favorite movies ever. The acting and writing is next level.

Rodger Johnson

She's not going to like Total Recall. At all.

Rodger Johnson

Instead of violating Patreon rules w/ that language, feel free to ask me to clarify what I meant. I do confess that I don't watch action, sci-fi, CGI. Only the genius actors (& screenplays) who won the Oscars the past 85 yrs.

David Fuchs

Carly seemed to handle War of the Worlds somewhat well, maybe even better than Cassie

Clay F

Yeah, Carly seemed less disturbed by War of the Worlds and than Cassie was.

Clay F

Yeah, I was disappointed too. The stars are charismatic but the writing is so lame and Leitch makes a total botch of directing it. I was surprised to see how many practical stunts were used in the end credits footage, as the film didn't really express that sense of reality. The way it was shot and edited really undermined the stuntwork - the truck chase / karaoke sequence in particular - and it made me appreciate once again just how well directed the Mission: Impossible films are in comparison.

Henry Graham

I Married a Woman That Talks Like Jerry Reed- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMPZz_H4t3M

Mike Lemon

Stranger Than Fiction (drama/love story with Will Ferrell)

Mike Lemon

but also… i want to see that reaction anyway.

djKENTO

Honestly.. no I don’t think Carly would like Total Recall… it’s… a lot.

djKENTO

I think Carly would love Smokey and the Bandit…

djKENTO

Or at least a good thriller. She's got some good 90's ones left to see.

Chris Thom

I can't really tell when Carly legitimately enjoys a movie. She's got a good poker face. Thinking maybe she's not into many that win the polls here.

Chris Thom

Totally forgot Reign Over Me existed. Was the other guy Steve Carrell?

Chris Thom

You... sound like a dick.

Kit Taylor

Idea for a poll- Actors stepping outside their comfort zone. It could include things like: Reign Over Me (drama with Adam Sandler) King Kong 2005 (drama with Jack Black) Butterfly Effect (drama/thriller Ashton Kutcher) Reign of Fire (action/fantasy with Matthew McConaughey) Twins (comedy with Arnold Schwarzenegger)

My_Cousin_Mose

+1 for The Longest Day (1962)

Larry Darrell

I'm sorry to see that PIB is mostly Action Movies, not great acting. Experts know that Cassie's best acting is Effortless Delivery: Brad Pitt took off his shirt. She said 2 words, "No Comment." Fargo shot a cop. "This reeely took-a-turn." Wizard of Oz: "Is he mean? Wonderful Oz, is a wiz, as a wizard as...what was it?" (Cassie meant: "If ever oh ever a wiz there was, the wizard of oz is one because.") IF YOU HAVE AN EAR, you hear Cassie delivery.

David Fuchs

For a Historical Film, I’ll recommend… Papillon (1973), starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. A film based on the autobiography of convict Henri Charrière and his escapes from prison.

Larry Darrell

Just for the record, I don’t think Carly would enjoy Total Recall. Smokey and the Bandit would be a more fun watch for her.

James UK

I also grew up with Rockford Files (James Garner).

Clay F

I always suggest the theatrical version for a first watch

Clay F

Definately YES to Total Recall with Carly. The film has elements that need discussion and if you are sitting there alone it will be half as fun. It is a great movie to talk about, so you need a partner.

Dioskur

I would rethink that TOTAL RECALL watch with Carly. To give you some idea what to expect, it is the same director as ROBOCOP. Regarding SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, just sit back, don't think much about it and enjoy the ride. 😉 For historical event movie: next month will be the 80th anniversary of D-Day, so my suggestion is THE LONGEST DAY (1962). It is a unique movie showing the American / British & French / German perspective of the day and these segments have been shot by different directors and crews. They also used a lot of consultants from all sides who have been present during the day, some even reenacted they real-life roles.

Gábor Árki

Which, The Women are you talking about? The Women (1939) original or The Women (2008) remake? 1939 is a Classic.

Larry Darrell

The song you are describing is titled, “The Bandit.” That is Jerry Reed singing. Jerry Reed is the only voice you hear singing songs in the movie.

Larry Darrell

Regarding Apocalypse Now: is Cassie watching the theatrical cut, Redux, or the Final Cut? I’m guessing the theatrical?

Alex Villarreal

Maybe, yet that still doesn't mean that Cassie and Carly would enjoy it.

Mark Vaderr

Need an "Ohmy gosh" counter for them both for that and a drinking game.

Brian McGovern

I have to say Total Recall has one of the best posters ever. Simplicity at its best

Night King01

I think the violence is very pulpy. The blood is so excessive and ridiculous on purpose that you’re almost desensitized to it by the end because of how unrealistic it is.

Night King01

As a fan of the more violent side of film, I also want Carly to enjoy being on the channel. Soft no to Total Recall for Carly, unfortunately. She probably would be able to handle it but I don't think she would enjoy it.

inpham0us

Isnt this the fun of the channel though. Ive seen reactions where carly is a lot less disturbed by things that I thought she would hate

Night King01

I dont know. Total recall is hardcore but have you seen a Cronenberg film. Total recall is way more tame. Yes its violent but in the same other action films at the time were. Its more pulpy than it is realistic. Its campy on purpose and I think it adds to the enjoyment. Cronenberg is just hardcore hardcore.

Night King01

Funny enough I think Robocop is a lot more horrific in terms of its violence. Murphys death alone is more greusome than anything in total recall. The stuff in total recall is a lot more camp pulpiness on purpose.

Night King01

The film is a lot more pulpy in that way. A lot of the vfx doesnt necessarily look real but we it isnt a real world and its heightened. I think its up there given the number of action films they have watched. I watched it recently and there is a lot less of the gruesome vfx than I remember. A lot of it is just shootouts and its ridiculous on purpose. Paul Verhoeven even admitted as much cause he wanted to tailor it to Arnold’s strengths which is that fun pulpy action.

Night King01

I dont know I think total recall is probably fine if you like arnold films but be warned. Cause the vfx is more done in a camp sort of way, it doesn’t necessarily look real enough to be realistic if you know what I mean. The film is very outrageous but in a fun way. The director even felt it necessary to tailor it to Arnold’s strengths by adding more comedic elements and making the story more pulpy and fun rather than serious. I must add that context is key. Movies like The Thing are a lot scarier because of how serious they treat the story. I think it total recall because they treat it more as a fun adventure sci fi, a lot of the more gruesome stuff you can ignore because you’re having so much fun and arnolds charisma carries the film

Night King01

Think you can fool me by switching from Upcoming to Coming up, Cassie? Well two can play at that game! I would like a poll of Classic Horror movies, please. Checkmate, Cassie.

Richard Maurer

Cassie, I'm not sure if I'd reccoment Carly watch Total Recall or not. The visual fx can appear grusome.... BUT in an over-the-top, unrealistic way. So, the best answer I can giver to that is... maybe. You should both absolutely see Pleasantville. It is a great movie (great story and visual effects accomplishment), but it is not based on any historical event. I do understand how someone could say it is related to an historical time period, but I won't say more. You know... spoilers.

D. T. Nelson

A handle for Cassie? Hmmmm. Since she's always putting that lip balm on, how about Lips? and how about Fetch for Carly : )

Mike Jenson

I don't believe so; just still images as far as I know.

Raj K. Dixit

Just remembered… We need to be thinking of a Handle for Cassie… and maybe Carly too.

Larry Darrell

All discussions of Verhoeven should include the epic cinematic masterpiece that is Showgirls.

Chris Thom

When are the trivia nights?

Chris Thom

So my mom got back from Canada with candy. I got a Wunderbar, Big Turk, Mr. Big, Fuzzy Peaches, Winegums, Coffee Crisp, Aero bar, a couple Cadburys and a KitKat. So far I've tried the Wunderbar- good not great, Big Turk- interesting but also just ok, Fuzzy Peaches- which were kinda like peach rings but SUPER peachy, and Winegums- which were absolutely vile lol. So far I prefer American candy but still fun to try!

My_Cousin_Mose

Well, she really enjoyed Babysitting and it gave her a break from some heavy stuff. Still, hopefully it will swing around again,

Marc DiPaolo

Theatrical has such a good flow to it. The other ones are for those who really love the story, or Heart of Darkness.

Chris Thom

The Women is an AWFUL film. I’m thinking more along the lines of Certain Women, Lovely and Amazing, Real Women Have Curves, Frances Ha (though she may have seen that), Stories We Tell, High Art, Young Adult, the Farewell, I Tonya, Persepolis. Stuff like that.

Marc DiPaolo

Classic. Definitely one they should watch together.

Chris Thom

Probably a dumb question, but can the James Webb take video?

Chris Thom

Lol. My sister made our family watch The Women one holiday. Cast was 100 percent women. Remember zero about it. But Bridesmaids is one chick flick I sincerely love.

Chris Thom

Agree. Aside from the important subject matter I think it's worth seeing just for the example of great filmmaking.

Chris Thom

Oh I never knew it was a Phillip K. Dick story. That makes me like it more now for some reason.

Chris Thom

Wanted to see Starship Troopers so bad in '97. Never got around to it. Was still distracted by the Verhoeven cinematic masterpiece that was Showgirls.

Chris Thom

Weather has been insane here in North Cali too. 82 degrees three days ago, then random thunder hail storm yesterday. W T H. Looks like a solid week on YouTube. Sorry not exactly a week for storybook romances. More like a week of death and mutant/alien/humanity destruction. But Apocalypse Now is one of the best movies ever made if you can get passed the darkness of the story. Francis Ford Coppola is a legendary director. Hope you watch some from his daughter as well. Lost in Translation is a great one.

Chris Thom

That's an excellent way to look at it. I absolutely agree.

Stick Figure Studios

Carly puts her trust in us with our recommendations, and I think that trust is better served by calling this one a pass for her.

Raieldon

For 2 weeks.

So, Waylon split but we still had Dan Aykroyd and Gary Busey……. for some reason

Lamar Smith

That's because everyone underestimates Carly. Actually I think Carly handles certain things better than Cassie. This is no knock at Cassie, as her wide range of emotional reactions is what keeps me coming back. I love both the sisters, I just think the fans are over protective of both of them.

Todzilla

So, I watched a video on the making of ‘We Are the World.’ I’m assuming if you know ‘Dukes (OMG Catherine Bach!!!!!) then I’ll assume you know the song/video. I’m assuming you know Willie was there, since he and Dionne sing together. Well, according to the video, Stevie came in and was all like, “If this is a benefit for Africa, we need to sing an African dialect.” After only one or two goes at that, Waylon split.

Lamar Smith

Even credited as ‘the Balladeer,’ which is cool. Did he sing that song when Bandit and his passenger pull over for a ‘pit stop?’ The chorus is just ‘They call you the Bandit’ repeated a bunch of times. I know the voice is not Jerry Reed.

Lamar Smith

So, that’s UF? I knew it wasn’t Miami.

Lamar Smith

Yup, Ole Mose Harper

Bill Maurer

Did you know there is a Searchers related cameo in Smokey and the Bandit?

Larry Darrell

Some British chocolate heading your way, once I get it packaged and posted. That should cheer you and the rest of the crew of USS Popcorn up!😊

Chris Clarke

Also, Cassie, I want to reiterate once again that if it's not too late, you should seriously consider watching APOCALYPSE NOW in your home theater. It will greatly enhance the experience.

Stick Figure Studios

Deliverance and The Longest Yard are the other top tier Burt Reynolds movies for me.

Shawn Kildal

Carly should not be within a five mile radius of Total Recall

Ross Cicero

Nice One ;-)

Larry Darrell

Jerry Reed wrote and performed, the first song you hear, “The Legend,” and “East Bound and Down.” He sings both and sings “The Bandit,” written by Dick Feller. Waylon Jennings wrote and performed The Theme for the Dukes of Hazzard, “Good Ol’ Boys.”

Larry Darrell

I get it

Shawn Kildal

That’s the ones

Just Plain Bob

Cassie, you definitely could not have three very different movies to watch this week. Total Recall is extremely violent, it's from director Paul "Blood & Butts" Verhoeven, same director as Robocop. If you think Carly can handle that, and if you can handle that, so be it. Ironic that you mention that you love us to Mars and back, after the way the Martians from War of the Worlds terrified you. Will you be competing in Trivia Night again? Always a fun time with you. Best wishes!

Mark Vaderr

Hey Cassie! You’re not the only one being teased by Mother Nature. The weather has been a mixed bag at best here on Long Island. No real Spring to speak of yet. I picked up my daughter at Penn State last weekend, and the temps topped off at 82! I was able to enjoy that for 2 days before heading back to UUGGH! I think the consensus about Carly NOT watching Total Recall with you is pretty evident, and Id have to agree. But if you want someone to light up the Oh My Gosh meter with you while you watch, then she’s your gal! She would definitely enjoy Smokey and the Bandit. May and June will be super busy for me. My oldest daughter is graduating college, and we’ve got a big backyard party planned for her! Add in Mother’s Day and Memorial Day Weekend, and its all good stuff…just exhausting! So I look forward to being able to wind down with you, Carly, and the PIB gang. Great line up for this week!

Dan M

Ok, so now I have to rent Smokey and the Bandit. That’s a fun one.

Korny

I forgot how much Carly struggled with FIRST BLOOD. TOTAL RECALL makes FB look like BAMBI.

Stick Figure Studios

Absolutely agree on BRIDGE OF SPIES. Great movie and, as I just said elsewhere, more Spielberg is always a good idea

Stick Figure Studios

@Aaron: I agree.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh yeah, good observation

Clay F

I second that. More Spielberg is always a good idea.

Stick Figure Studios

Carly will love Pleasantville. Total Recall, not so much.

Above Average Dave

Well, I can’t argue with that suggestion. 😁😁😁

Above Average Dave

A cool thing to know before watching Smokey and the Bandit… all the songs are done by the actor who plays the character “Snowman”… Jerry Reed. He is a legendary Musician, Singer and Songwriter. That’s his voice and guitar you hear.

Larry Darrell

You are the only person, so far, that I've seen say they think Carly can handle Total Recall....lol

Joel Wayne

Stick, honestly; Watch it! As a MOVIE, it's great! As a Total Recall remake, it's trash

Coleton B.

I'd put Platoon and FMJ above the stress level of Apoc Now. As far as 'nam movies she's already seen.

Aaron Mann

Please add AMISTAD to the historical event poll. It checks off so many boxes for you! Historical event and true story, courtroom drama, suspenseful, directed by Spielberg, and also many familiar faces (Morgan Freeman, Matt McConaughey, and even Sir Anthony Hopkins).

Aaron Mann

Apocalypse Now is still too stressful for me. You are very brave

Russell Teo

i watch a some of the new one and it was shyt so i changed the channel

scott osborne

Cassie, I don't know the criteria for the "based on a historical event" poll, but I'd like to recommend "Bridge of Spies" with Tom Hanks and "The Good Shepard" with Matt Damon if you haven't already seen them. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

Michael West

Yes Carley should watch Total Recall! That’s the fun of this channel.

Stan the Man

The tomahawk guys?

Lamar Smith

Garnet and gold

Just Plain Bob

Have Carly watch “Smokey and the Bandit” with you. Apocalypse Now and Total Recall wouldn’t be her thing. “Oh, you can THINK about having Carly watch those other two… but DOOON’T do it.”

Ike

Jackie Gleason was an actor, comedian, writer, and composer known as The Great One.

Mike LL

As much as I'd love to say "yes Carly should watch this with you" gotta be honest and say NO the violence level in Total Recall is downright horrific. Recently watched you guyses reaction to First Blood and she was saying that wasn't her thing cause of the brutality. Total Recall is hardcore not going to be her thing. First Blood is like a 3 on a scale of 1-10 violence level. Well Total Recall is a solid 9 maybe even a 10 for the violence level.

Chuck Schuldiner

Cassie did get some CB exposure in BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.

Stick Figure Studios

I love Pleasantville and think you will like it. I remember when Smokey and the Bandit was released -- a phenomenon at the time. CB (most young people don't know what that is) (apparently referenced in Big Trouble in Little China) is an abbreviation for "Citizens' Band" that is a range of radio frequencies the general public is allowed to use to send messages to each other. It is used especially by truck drivers and other drivers who have a CB radio in their vehicle.

Clay F

Please remind me, FSU is blue and orange?

Lamar Smith

Reynolds played college ball for Florida State. I believe he was a wide receiver. He quit and focused on acting after a knee injury. He did two movies in which he played either a current or former pro football player, the original (and far superior to the crappy Adam Sandler remake) The Longest Yard and Semi-Tough, based on the book of the same name. He also owned a minority interest in the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL in the mid-80s. The team was named after his character in Smokey and the Bandit.

Just Plain Bob

They may want to brush up on CB for Smokey and the Bandit. Most young people don't know what that is. Looking forward to the reaction. I remember when Smokey and the Bandit was released -- a phenomenon at the time. Hilarious. I like Reynolds and Field. Not sure Cassie will get or be into all of the Jackie Gleason humor, or some of the misogyny (which I think overall is fine) of the time.

Clay F

I’m pretty sure he was conflating Smokey and the Bandit (no apes at all) with Clint Eastwood’s Philo Betto films (Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can), in which the bare knuckle brawler has an orangutan named Clyde with the tv show B.J. and the Bear, in which the main character drives an 18 wheeler, joined on his adventures by his pet chimp. Love me some Bill Burr.

Just Plain Bob

It's a tricky balance to strike between convincing Cassie that TOTAL RECALL would be too much for Carly without scaring Cassie too much about it.

Stick Figure Studios

I won't disagree, but my assumption is there is only ever going to be the one watch. Might as well go for broke. I'm happy either way.

Godzilla Jones

Poor Carly. Hopefully Cassie will spare her whenever (if ever) Starship Troopers is scheduled.

Shawn Kildal

It was ‘Speed’ before ‘Speed.’

Lamar Smith

Here here! ‘SatB’ is a ROMANTIC COMEDY……. with cars and trucks and car chases and such.

Lamar Smith

I think the theatrical version is best for a first watch.

Clay F

I love Pleasantville.

Clay F

The orangutan was, I believe, named ‘Clyde’ in the two Clint Eastwood movies….. ‘Every which way but loose’….. ‘Any which way’….????

Lamar Smith

With all these comments letting you know Total Recall is too violent for Carly, let it not be unsaid that the movie is also still very much worth watching, and I hope we don't scare you off of it either, Cassie. On the surface, Total Recall might be seen as a dumb "muscled meat-head action movie" because of it starring Arnold during his peak-era of movies, but give the story your attention and you'll find below that surface is something more compelling and cerebral/thought-provoking. Which makes sense, seeing as the Total Recall story was written by Philip K. Dick, the same author behind the stories from which Minority Report and Blade Runner are adapted.

Christopher B.

NO, Carley should watch Smokey and the Bandit not Total Recall

Ryan Geiger

"Thelma & Louise" (1991) -- revolutionary in the culture for women. [Lost in a poll to "Adventures in Babysitting" (1987)]

Clay F

Poor Carly was already put through the ringer last week with The War of the Worlds. Still sad she wasn't available for Mr. Holland's Opus.

Shawn Kildal

Didn’t even notice the graphic. She really has no idea.

Larry Darrell

Well there goes my screen time for the week.

Roger Banks

Uh, maybe consider re-wording a comment like this in the future. Like Carly would better enjoy a different movie. Instead of better sued for. It just sounds wrong.

David RedEagle

The Final Cut is at least better than the REDUX, but the original theatrical version is still the best.

Stick Figure Studios

Just joining in on the "Carly should absolutely NOT watch Total Recall" train. That's an extremely violent film with tons of blood and gross things Carly would hate. She'd be under the covers for much of the movie.

Stranger2Reality

I think Cassie will do fine with APOCALYPSE NOW. No, it won't be the most pleasant viewing experience for her (as wsr movies tend not to be) but I think she'll be able to handle it alright (Carly wouldn't) and, frankly, it's just essential viewing for any movie-lover as it is truly one of the greatest films ever made.

Stick Figure Studios

Robin T “Nose”. Know what I mean ;-)

Larry Darrell

Yup.

Stick Figure Studios

"To Mars and back"... I am guessing that a nod to "Total Recall" and not just because it's a bigger distanced than the typical moon comment? I would say "Smokey and the Bandit" is easily more Carly's speed (pun intended) compared to "Total Recall" or the other movie this week "Apocalypse Now".

Mojo One Thousand

While I think Carly might be a bit more able to handle some things that she couldn't before (based on how she was able to watch some parts of War of the Worlds while Cassie was even hiding her eyes), the Schwarzenegger Total Recall is most probably not one of them. It has a quite a lot of violence (purposeful violence! mind you, but still a lot of it).

Christopher B.

I would switch Total Recall for Smokey and the Bandit for Carly.

Mike Lemon

The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976), starring John Travolta.

Larry Darrell

Agreed completely. Total Recall is one of those Paul Verhoeven films which flirted with an NC-17 rating just for violence. There are many bloody gun battles, disfigured mutants, people decompressing in a vacuum, arms being torn off, etc. That is most definitely NOT a Carly movie. That actually might be the most graphically violent film Arnold ever did, and I say that as someone who absolutely loves that movie. But it's definitely not for someone who's as squeamish about violence as Carly is.

Stranger2Reality

Weekend was great. It was 80 degrees here. Flowers are blooming. Absolutely beautiful. I'm interested in your reaction to Smokey and the Bandit. It's a little cheesy and a bit over the top at times, but just a fun ride. My father drove a truck for 40 years. Some of my best childhood memories are riding with him on the open road, seeing the countryside and listening to the CB Radio. You probably know this already but Smokey is trucker slang for the police. I think you will enjoy it. Anyway, 3s and 8s to you and yours in Salty Town, keep the shiny side up we're 10-10 on the side.

Michael West

I never even bothered watching that one.

Stick Figure Studios

I just remember her talking about LeBron during a recent livestream. Plus she's got Ben to keep her in the loop I'm sure.

Shawn Kildal

Cassie I did not see Fall Guy this weekend, but the homies and I went to the theater to see Star Wars the Phantom Menace!!! It was great and came in second at box office this weekend just behind Fall Guy. And Total Recall is fun. Carly will be okay with it. It's about time you got back to classic Schwarzenegger!!🎤👇

Todzilla

I truly don’t know but there’s that song “They call you the Bandit.” The chorus is just that repeated 4 or 6 times. Jerry might have written it but the voice, to me, sounds like Waylon Jennings. Thoughts?

Lamar Smith

Oh, good. Then it's not too late.

Stick Figure Studios

No Carly for apocalypse now or total recall but smokey and the bandit is right up her street it's such a great legendary comedy Jackie Gleason is totally terrific and steals the movie.

Brian Cowgill

She literally wouldn't make it past the 15 minute mark

Saturday Night Beaver

Smokey and the bandit will be good for Carley and you, Apocalypse Now will not be good for either of you, except for a nice cameo.

zynjams

I could be wrong, but I think Jerry Reed wrote other songs for that movie as well. I know he at least performed other songs.

Shawn Kildal

Making me sad right now. Can’t explain why. :-(

Larry Darrell

Definitely not.

Stick Figure Studios

It shows it on the graphic, but I didn’t gather Carly joining her for Total Recall was a done deal from her post

Cole Jennett

That's what I thought. She could join Cassie for SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT.

Stick Figure Studios

I can't wait to see the reaction to Smokey & The Bandit. "Hold up on that car wash, gentlemen!"

Cory H

First there was "the thing", then robocop...now total recall....ohmygosh is Event Horizon on the schedule yet?

Zeroarmor7

thank god its the total recall that cassie is watching and not the new one that is totally shyt

scott osborne

If they like this movie they definitely need to watch starship toopers lol

MatthewBrown74m

I think Carly would be better used for a different movie, not Total Recall..

David

They are! COLETON is creating this one, and having fun doing it. We justify the difficulty by remembering the prize: pick a movie for Cassie to watch! That's a big deal! If you watch all the YouTube reaction videos, your chances at winning are very high!

Jon Johns

"Total Recall-do we think this is something Carly would/should watch with me?" Lol, no. No we do not.

Robin T

Oh, Cassie, Apocalypse Now is loosely based on a book! According to Wikipedia: "Although inspired by Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, the film deviates extensively from its source."

Jon Johns

Yikes.

Stick Figure Studios

Indeed

Stick Figure Studios

I second this.

Stick Figure Studios

Agreed 1000%

Paul Cox

Theatrical is more concise, but Final Cut really works for me. Both are great. Redux can suck it.

Godzilla Jones

Agreed.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I don't foresee Carly having a good time with that one. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT would be a better fit for her I think.

Stick Figure Studios

On a tangent here, but as many Ah-nold flix as you've seen... I'd say you ought to catch "Commando"... it's not a long watch, not as iconic as Terminator for sure- but has always struck me as the most distilled 80s 80-ness that ever 80'd. But in the meantime I'll enjoy Total Recall!

Benny50309

Tell you something good? Ok, in honor of Trivia Night, here it goes: Lemons float, but limes sink. The fear of long words is called Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. No number before 1,000 contains the letter A. Australia is wider than the moon. I could go on, but I won't. Looking forward to the happenings around here this week!

Dave

Maybe it your chance to indulge, a number of 60s Classics Charade-Cary Grant Audrey Hepburn, so many movies up your Alley from the 60s.Houseboat etc etc . I grew up with Rockford files and a Car buff, but there is a James Garner film Grand Prix 1966 worth checking out.

Tim C

CARLY CANNOT WATCH TOTAL RECALL !! IT'S THE HEIGHT OF 1980s R-RATED EXCESS, FAMOUS FOR ITS VIOLENCE It has 96 Kills and most are close up & bloody

Saturday Night Beaver

Are you ready for Jackie Gleason ????

Bill Maurer

Should make for an interesting reaction.

Stick Figure Studios

I think she would do very well with "Total Recall" - it's practically a romance for crying out loud. She's watched way, way worse - and recently too, if you catch my drift. But if it was one or the other, you two would have a blast if she watched "Smokey and the Bandit" with you.

David Collins

Total recall: no Carly, I don't think she'd have fun at all. It's been stormy here! Thunder bolts and lightening, very, very frightening .. my dog. 😂 I've researched Godzilla: Minus one a few times, and am enjoying most of the reaction videos! Good times 😀

Jon Johns

Yeah I don't know if Carly would dig Total Recall, it's the same director who made RoboCop if that's an indication.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Lolol...she'd be fine

nick bell

I agree.

Stick Figure Studios

So excited about Smokey and the Bandit!!! I have been listening to the Soundtrack for the past week on loop in my car, in anticipation of it. No speeding tickets yet… Knock On Wood. It’s going to be EPIC!! (for me at least) Afterwards we can talk about the film that preceded The Fall Guy TV series… Hooper (1978), same director as Smokey and the Bandit, Hal Needham, also starring Burt Reynolds and Sally Field… It’s about Stuntmen.

Larry Darrell

Theatrical cut imo

Stick Figure Studios

"we need a bubble day and a beach day and a disney day?" So, Bubble Boy (2001), Soul Surfer (2011), and Fox and the Hound (1981)?

Mike Lemon

Honestly, I'm surprised she's joining Cassie for that one and not SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT.

Stick Figure Studios

I think the chance of her realizing that in the next week is next to nil😂 Unless they were playing Utah maybe😂

Cole Jennett

I've already spoken about my regard for APOCALYPSE NOW in the last upcoming post, so I won't repeat it here. I think you should enjoy SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. It's a fun, light-hearted romp that was surprisingly successful in its day and made star Burt Reynolds a screen legend (Jackie Gleason is all so hugely entertaining in it). I will be honest that I'm a little surprised Carly is joining you for TOTAL RECALL. Don't get me wrong. It's a fantastic action-packed sci-fi thriller, but it's from Paul Verhoeven (the director of ROBOCOP and STARSHIP TROOPERS), so it's humor, though hilarious, will be a bit on the dark side and the violence... well, you saw ROBOCOP, so you at least know what you're in for, but I'm not sure that Carly will be. Honestly, SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT would be a better fit for her. At any rate, this should be an interesting week.

Stick Figure Studios

Total recall, excellent. Smokey and the Bandit, been a long time, look forward to the reaction. Never seen Apocalypse Now, I'll watch it with my wife when you do your reaction Cassie.

Tom Furze

Apocalypse Now isn't exactly an upbeat movie but I don't think anything is going to bring Cassie down with the Lakers being recently eliminated.

Shawn Kildal

Yeah, sometimes it's fun to watch Carly be shocked or squirm in her seat a little, but seeing her suffer through Total Recall wouldn't even be the tiniest bit enjoyable.

Paul Cox

Black Pilled did a pretty good video about Pleasantville : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvSDIbikprY

Saturday Night Beaver

"I took a 12 minute nap out there and got sunburnt. Then SUNDAY IT FREAKING SNOWED!" You mean that Utah provided you with some snow to help soothe your sunburned skin? Utah is AWESOME!!!1! :-P

Happy Hanukkah

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ortizmo2000

Smokey and the Bandit is a good film Miss

JesseConway

Saw fall guy at an early screening last Wednesday. Honestly not as good as it was hyped up to be. I'm prolly in the minority but I don't think the chemistry between the leads worked that well, but that could also be the writings fault. It has its moments and Ryan gosling for sure carries it but not as good as it could have been. Supposedly the budget was 130mil. I didn't see that on screen, the film felt small to me. That's not a diss on it but just an observation. don't know where the money went. Maybe the cast. Either way it should have been less than 100mil, cuz it's not doing good at the BO. It's a decent one time watch in the theater but nothing great imo.

Sahitya

I literally just got out of The Fall Guy. Best Freaking Frik Fracking Film I’ve seen this decade!!!! I was worried having loved the 80s TV Show, but they did it Justice. Loved It!!! I was giddy hearing the Original Theme Song. I now have a new fast driving song… Kiss’s “I Was Made For Lovin’ You.” Edit: Just tried the song on the way home… it worked. :-) Also another from the film I won’t name… but it’s the same title as a Jeff Bridges film, that Cassie should see. I had a WTF moment in the Finale though. There was a major, major, major Spoiler to a film, we have been trying to get Cassie to watch. Please Cassie… Lie to us and tell us you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Larry Darrell

Your in for a real treat with total recall lol

MatthewBrown74m

I am so looking forward to "Total Recall"! One of the greatest movies of all time!

Joe Jupiter

Carly could do Total Recall I guess…but I don’t think she’d be super thrilled with you afterwards.

Cole Jennett

-< wink >- Great comment!

Terry Yelmene

Smokey and the Bandit is so iconic. Bill Burr said that he wanted to be a truck driver because he wanted a pet Orangoutang. (I think that he was mixing his 80’s movies.)

Uncle Phoenix

I am honestly impressed with the average intelligence of my fellow Kernals; because our Trivia nights are very challenging.

Uncle Phoenix

She definitely cannot handle it.

JohnnyUtah

Yes to all! Is trivia a discord only thing?

JohnnyUtah

It’s not even close, Dearest Cassie, you will have a smile ear to ear with ‘Smokey.’ I wouldn’t be surprised if you do a Burt Reynolds poll after this. Remember in ‘True Romance’ when ‘Alabama’ said her favorite actor was Burt Reynolds? ‘Alabama’ was from Florida. Burt played football for, I think, the ‘Gators team. Blue & Orange. Florida takes a big pride in their native son. The song was written for the movie and performed by ‘Snowman,’ Jerry Reed. You cannot imagine how many Trans Ams Pontiac sold because of this movie.

Lamar Smith

If you love your sister, don't make her watch Total Recall with you.

Paul Cox

Oh, i bet you will enjoy Smokey and the Bandit. Its such a fun film.

David RedEagle

THIS... this is going to be a great week (but maybe Carly should just think... "Bandit"!)

Terry Yelmene

Total Recall with Carly? I don't know, it is an R movie made by the same director as RoboCop, so you make that call! Carly might more appreciate Smokey and the Bandit! Starring a particular star that you both watched in a recent reaction together! OK, you pried it out of me! It's with Sally Field, who you both saw in Steel Magnolias recently. I think you will both like the movie! I'm jacked by both Total Recall and Smokey this week! and what else? Oh Apocolypse Now! Yikes! Yeah, that one will be, uh, something!?! Best thing about this week is I am off of work for almost the whole week until the weekend, so I plan much R&R and Star Trek watching for upcoming polls. It's hard to keep up with adventures all throughout the galaxy, it's hard work, but someone has to do it!!

Mike LL

Which cut of Apocalypse Now? Final Cut is the way to go, I think

Godzilla Jones

Ehhh I think Carly can skip Total Recall I don’t think she’ll like it very much.

Alex Gorell

Only mars and back should at least try putting in some effort 🤭

Brian Cowgill

I’ve always thought that you would love Pleasantville. it’s very unique.

Kevin

Yes. Carly should join for Total Recall. She will enhance the reactions. Her emotional scars will heal 😁

Wes

Yes, have Carly watch Total Recall with you! It's a LOVE STORY!!

Philip Alan

All great movies of their era.

Matthew Dunham

I think Total Recall might be too extreme for Carly! Proceed with caution!

Joseph Marshall

Recently saw Deep Sky, an IMAX documentary about the James Webb Space Telescope. Incredible and only 45 minutes long. Looking forward to Apocalypse Now!

Raj K. Dixit

Looking forward to these!! Really wonder what you will think of them.

Manuel Eckroad

Still think you should turn the tables on your fans and make them watch really critically acclaimed women’s movies. :)

Marc DiPaolo

I can't wait to see ur reaction to smoke and the bandit.

David hess
