X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) - Full Reaction

This was still really fun, but maybe just missing a little somethin somethin that the first two had? Also, is Carly's "oh boy" her new "fetch"? Haha.. I want to talk about the end but don't want to spoil anything, so try to be careful in the comments! Is anyone else watching these for the first time as well?

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) - Full Reaction

Comments

Marvel comics regularly created the fantastic as a metaphor for reality. The X-Men films tried to convey this (although the Avengers films did not). The mutant abilities are easily seen as a metaphor for being gay. They have also been likened to being autistic. And the parallel of the mutant response to the treatment of minorities is obvious when Magneto consistently demonstrates the tattoo he received from a prison camp in WWII. I find this an especially poignant idea when Kitty Pride was played by Eliot Page. Not a big role but surely one he understood well..

James Melton

I agree with most of those, but I really disliked Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, IMO they were the worst movies out of all of them.

McShades

Oh yeah... two other Class 5's... Wanda (Scarlet Witch), and believe it or not, Colossus's sister Ilyana Rasputin.

Carlos Stevens

No, Phoenix is not the only class 5 mutant... Professor X, Magnito, Wolverine, and Storm, are all Class 5. The Molecule Man, and Longshot are probably the only Class 6 Mutant; Molecule Man has never been in any of the movies, and the ridiculous cameo they gave to Longshot was just sad. Jean Grey as Dark Phoenix was more a class infinite. Rogue also might be considered Class 5, especially after she permanently absorbed Captain Marvel's powers (something that never happened in the movies, but was taken for granted in the cartoon series.)

Carlos Stevens

Chronologically I do my X-Men re-watch basically from worst to best, haha X-Men Origins: Wolverine: B First Class: B+ Apocalypse: B Dark Phoenix: C+ The New Mutants: B- X-Men: A X2: A X-Men The Last Stand: B+ The Wolverine: B+ Days of Future Past: A Deadpool: A Logan: A Deadpool 2: A Deadpool & Wolverine: ??

Jason Dolan

When will the download be available?

LionBro

A lot of cringy moments in this movie, but still a good reaction! I hate to blame the screenwriter. There's a lot a director can do to compromise a movie.

Ben Livingstone

This was the first full reaction I ever synced up to watch and it was a lot of fun. These movies are pure entertainment. Did forget how much of a downer the deaths were in this film. Really felt like they were killing off the whole franchise in some ways.

Chris Thom

Plus, Carly will feel left out if you don't!

Chris B.

The Wolverine may be the better movie in some ways, but X Men Origins probably adds more to the story they already know.

Chris Thom

You can feel free to skip X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It adds nothing to the overall story arc, and nothing in it will be referenced again in further films. Just go right to The Wolverine.

Brian Lowery

Like most said, not my favorite of the three original X-Movies, but not horrible. I’m personally not a real big fan on the director Brett Ratner’s work in this movie (or others really). This movie was just big, dumb and loud and lacked character moments that were served up in the first two. It’s just kinda moving from action set piece to action set piece, with nothing of substance in between. It’s action schlock, but at least the action is pretty decent (for the most part). It’s just a shame because the rest kinda sucks lol

Ace Degenerate

Cassie - do a rewatch of Deadpool I & ii - please. You'll a get a lot more of the jokes after you watch the X-Men movies.

Richard Maurer

They did watch the end credit scene but their reaction to it comes as the credits roll in the Mini screen. Rewatch The End of the reaction as the credits roll.

Dave

You didnt watch the post credit scene! :(

Aj R

We didn't see the reaction to the after credits scene!

Daniel Turbyfill

I think the release order of the remaining films is: X-men Origins: Wolverine, X-men First Class, The Wolverine, X-men: Days of Future Past, X-men: Apocalypse, Logan, and Dark Phoenix. Also the Deadpool films in there somewhere, but they really aren't affected by the continuity of the other films... And The New Mutants which really is a tertiary story having almost nothing to do with the X-men.

Daniel Turbyfill

While I think you can skip X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the second Logan stand alone film, titles The Wolverine, is a must watch if only because you see the psychological effects from the events of this film.

Daniel Turbyfill

Storm's line to Rogue about not needing any cure never sat well with me, especially saying it to Rogue of all people. I'm glad they included Hank mentioning that not all mutants are able to fit in with society as well as Storm, but would've preferred more pushback/discussion on how not all mutations are a good thing.

Chris B.

Can't wait for the other X-men reactions!!! you girls are beautiful and funny!

Jayson Phillips

Good reaction ladies.

Rick Williams

She has seen both Deadpool movies. And she's watching them ALL! ORIGINS and all!

Philip Alan

^this. :)

Philip Alan

Hadn't watched this one in a while. It was better than I remembered but still not as good as 1 or 2. Thanks for watching these. Looking forward to first class and days of future past. Logan is great as well although might be too much for Carly even though it's got tons of heart in it.

Canadianant

Cassie clearly wrote to not spoil anything in the comments, yet here you are..

Johnny

There’s 6 movies left to watch before Deadpool & Wolverine at the end of July. First Class Days of future past Apocalypse Logan (best X men movie) Deadpool Deadpool 2 Both Wolverine Origins and the Wolverine are side stories and optional but the other 6 are a must and actually some of the better films! Please organize your schedule so you are done with these 6 before the release of Deadpool & Wolverine and yes, we want you reacting as soon as it comes out! It’s the biggest cinematic event ever and we want to experience this with both of you ladies! P.S. Bring back fetch ✊🏼

Edwin

The original director of the first two movies left the project to do a Superman movie right before this was to start production. It's why it's a mess. You have the remnants of the Dark Phoenix storyline which the original director was going to do and the cure storyline is what the new guy brought in. That is why the movie feels like two different ones fused together. Also why REDACTED is killed off. Bryan Singer cast him in his Superman movie so he had to be written off.

dan

Praying for you and your family.

Tom Furze

This was my least favourite X-Men movie... but it's not as terrible as I remember. I'm glad that Cassie and Carly enjoyed it. I didn't like this version of the Phoenix. Much like Bryan Singer's personal agenda-driven X-Men movies, the Phoenix in The Last Stand was a compromised, watered-down version of the all-powerful cosmic force of creation, destruction, and resurrection. I also didn't like that this movie kind of threw Charles Xavier's benevolent character under the bus, revealing he had used his powers to manipulate Jean's mind and block her powers. The movie was perplexing for showing the "dark side" of Charles (and Jean's) telepathic powers, portraying him somewhat as an authoritarian villain who wouldn't tolerate people like Wolverine second-guessing the morality of what he had done, but the movie also wanted the audience to be shocked and saddened when he met his tragic fate. Same with Jean; her second personality as the Phoenix was a convenient contrivance to have her act out of character (i.e. the fan-service makeout scene between her and Wolverine) and give her carte blanch to be the arch-villain of the movie. The comics did a far superior job of telling the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas; it just doesn't translate to a 2-hour movie. Whereas the X-Men: Animated Series did an excellent job because they gave it 5 episodes for the Phoenix Saga and 4 episodes for the Dark Phoenix Saga. Most importantly, the animated X-Men stayed true to the comics, which is why it was great and X-Men fans loved it. I wonder if Cassie (and possibly Carly) would be interested in watching the X-Men Animated Series (it's also on Disney+) similar to how she's been watching Star Trek, with "favourite episode" polls on Patreon? Or perhaps when they reach the end of Fox's X-Men movies, Dark Phoenix, Cassie can watch the animated series Phoenix Saga and Dark Phoenix Saga, to see how it should've been done right in the movies!

Rod Reavern

Going off topic to address a birthday, the say hey kid. Willie Mays one of the all time great baseball players. Who had that catch that shocked the country. Say Hey (Willie Mays Song) https://youtu.be/qVCUkNa_WFw?si=dtrFIuOx4q6Ny0ux

Zachary K. (Swiftie)

To tell you the truth, I fell asleep in the theater during Dark Phoenix! So I've never actually seen the whole thing!

MikeLL

It is funny how people love to comment and "color" the expectations of others, but it is also natural and normal because we just all love to talk about movies here, and absolutely nobody is keeping anything bottled up about what they want to talk about. :) I just wish they would be a little more vague on the specifics, because some of these comments are a little spoilerish. I always want Cassie to go into movies blind and not know anything. Even to characters and actors that are going to be in them. If she finds out before hand, that is fine, but there is no reason to tell her these things. That being said, I never doubted that Cassie and Carly would enjoy watching this movie, and therefore I knew the reaction would be very entertaining, regardless of the quality of this particular movie. That is the important thing. They are super invested in the characters and what happens to them. This movie had a lot of moving parts, and I knew they were going to be enthralled by the entire film.

MikeLL

Great explanation Jon! With the MCU it was easier to handle inconsistencies with the introduction of the Multiverse. But at the time that the X-Men movies were released, the inconsistencies were just confusing and frustrating.

Dan M

Release order, always.

Jon Johns

I’d love to see a reaction to the Dirty Harry films, but I wonder if they’re even on Cassie’s radar. I’ve never heard her mention them. The first three, in particular, are fantastic.

Just Plain Bob

Cassie, comic books are published / issued monthly, and characters are featured in multiple comics. Like, Ironman, The Avengers, etc, appear in different films, they appear in different comics. Usually, there is a lead editor that makes sure over-arching stories don't conflict, or if they do, it is known to the reader that this particular story takes place in a different time, or universe (multiverse?) you should be familiar with all this from the MCU. But in the X-Men movie series.... There was no top dog making sure everything properly connected and made sense, and had to "Retcon" several inconsistencies... Don't think too hard in the future movies about inconsistencies 😉 Retcon: (in a film, television series, or other fictional work) a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency.

Jon Johns

I am really enjoying watching this series with you. Watching this with you and Carly is like watching it with my sisters. I don't like giving recommendations just because I enjoy everything you guys put out. However I would love it if you guys watched the Dirty Harry series it's only 5 movies. Clint Eastwood is getting up their in years and we really don't know how much time he has left.

Zachary K. (Swiftie)

Love Days of Future Past!

Stich

Not a big deal, but if your going to skip directly to the post credit can you at least edit in a timer so we can actually see your reaction?

Jacob

She's already says they're "going the distance with X-Men" so get ready for lots more.

Stick Figure Studios

Wonder if shes going to watch first class next\ or origins wolverine

Yaisu

“Oh boy”! Can’t wait to watch the reaction! 😉

Robert da Spruce

It's the weskest of the OG movies, but still a fun film. The Jean Grey stuff is the best part and she's my fave character - I also loved the Dark Phoenix movie, but I'm probably in the minority there!

Odd Thomas

Seems like Cassie and Carly both missed that Angel was played by Ben Foster

JAKH

Hank McCoy had a small cameo in X2. He was on the TV in the bar when Mystique ruffies the security guard.

JAKH

I've never actually seen this. I had always really loved the idea of X-Men and after loving the first two Deadpool movies I started watching these. I liked the first one, loved the second one, and ended up reading a few of the comics. When it came time to watch the third one my brother told me three things. 1- It’s a bad adaptation of dark phoenix 2- Nightcrawler isn’t in it. 3- Frasier Crane is Beast. And although that last point filled me with joy it wasn’t enough to make up for the first two, so I skipped it, and went to watch the 90’s show instead. Hopefully X-Men 97 is a sign of great things to come because so far that show is phenomenal. Other than that, First Class was pretty good, and I still have to watch Days of Future Past and Logan.

Fritz

I mean, the first 3 weren't even consistent among themselves. These movies have never been great with timelines.

aarswft

"He's like the beast in 'Beauty and the Beast'", yep, and it is why he is known as "Beast" despite being one of the most intelligent and diplomatic of all the X-men. And, it was a great bit of casting to have Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier") play him. Although not the biggest fan of the comics, I did watch the 90s animated series a bit, and so had an understanding of those versions of characters, and Kelsey Grammer seemed to a good fit for that character when I first saw this when it came out. One thing I always enjoyed about these first few movies is how on point the majority of the casting was with the characters. Also forgot Eric Dane was in this until they are about to open the door in the truck. I thought are the ladies going to recognise "Mc-Whats-his-name" from "Grey's Anatomy" surely they would, and Cassie obliged and help me out with the nickname of "McSteamy", never really watched that show, but was aware enough of the reference. I actually knew him from a different TV when I first saw this movie in theatres prior to "Grey Anatomy" even starting. It was a short lived medical TV show called "Gideon's Crossing" with the late, great Andre Braugher in the lead role and Eric Dane played (you guessed it) a doctor! But in that he was more of a doctor early in his career, learning the ropes, which may have been why he was later qualified to be "McSteamy". Oy yeah, I don't think the ladies have seen "Longshot" with Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron by the sounds... the exclamation "oh boy" would lose some of its lustre.

Mojo One Thousand

Although there is plenty about "X-men Origins: Wolverine" that isn't very good, I think it worthwhile for them to see some reasons that his character is the way he is, and it somewhat relates back to the comment "Storm" made in this movie about him moving on quicker than others. The opening credit montage is probably my favourite piece of that movie, and the relationship with "Sabertooth". I think Cassie has already at least the first"Deadpool" movie, she may have said in reactions what she thought of it, but I can't recall at this point. As someone else has pointed out, it would be good to go again with it as there will be better understanding of what is going on, "Origins" is referenced in those as well although not really a showstopper.

Mojo One Thousand

The next flms are almost like soft reboots, so dont follow directly on with continuity of this story. The winged fellow is called Archangel.

Stretch

Why do some fans dislike this film? Well this film is based not only on one of the best X-Men storylines but one of the best comic book storylines of all time that being The Dark Phoenix Saga (1980) by writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne. The 90s X-Men Animated Series also had it's own amazing adaptation of the storyline spread across 5 episodes and I'd argue that the Animated Series surpasses the comic itself. So if you watch X-Men 97 you'll hear mentions of The Dark Phoenix. The comic storyline took years to develop pulling from two decades worth of X-Men storylines and character development. It was also a cosmic storyline thanks to the Phoenix's itself being a cosmic entities. It was a threat to the whole universe not just Earth with Jean herself travelling the Cosmos. For the film any involvement of galactic empires, aliens and cosmic entities were removed so they could tell a more Earth base storyline instead of having Jean throughout space. The Phoenix storyline can be done amazingly in live action but it would need alot of build up something we didn't really get in three films. In my opinion you'd need at least three films to cover the whole storyline, Dark Phoenix trilogy of films pretty much. I'm not sure how the more maintain audience would react to X-Men movies venturing into space when they're more used to Earth based storylines from the movies so I can see why this film stuck to Earth. The cure aspect of this film was pulled from Joss Whedon's "Gifted" a storyline that took place in the first six issues of "Astonishing X-Men" around 2004 so the movie is a mix of both Phoenix and Gifted. Gifted would've worked fine by itself for a third film but the Phoenix Sega is Infinity War levels of build up. So pretty much the fanbase just did not enjoy how this film mistreated the Dark Phoenix storyline. As a stand alone film I really enjoy it but I can't say it's a good depiction of Dark Phoenix. ----------------------------------------------- Aspects I adored :) I loved the appearance of The Danger Room showing up all the way back in The X-Men #1 (1963) as a crash course style room for the X-Men to train within. Later takes like we see in the film put a virtual spin on it by having the room create a whole virtual landscape with enemies and everything. This version is similar to the Holodeck from Star Trek: The Next Generation but I'm not sure which came from. We also get to see the X-Men fight a Sentinel in the danger room, massive mutant-hunting robots that you saw in the X-Men 97 trailer. We see Colossus throwing Wolverine, iconic move from the comics called "The Fastball Special" and Logan goes flying into the Sentinel cutting it's head off and throwing it towards the X-Men just a very comic book moment that I love. I like that they introduced the idea of differant Power Levels of Mutants. The comics don't use this numbering system instead a Class 5 Mutant would be referred to as a Omega Level Mutant in the comics. Magneto, Storm, Jean, Charles for example are all Omega level mutants. Below this you have Alpha Class and then Beta Class etc. These other classifications are rarely used, except when identifying Omega Levels. Warren also known as Angel was a really fun addition. Angel was actually a member on the original X-Men (1963) line up alongside Beast, Jean Grey known as Marvel Girl during this time, Cyclops, and Iceman. All appearing in X-Men #1 (1963) often dubbed the First Class of X-Men. Hank McCoy (Beast) one of the best X-Men who I grew up loving thanks to the X-Men Animated Series, pretty sure you saw him in the X-Men 97 trailer as well. Hank was also one of the original members of The X-Men appearing in X-Men #1 (1963) before he was blue. They do make reference to this in this film by bringing up that he was an older student and one of the first X-Men. And he even said his iconic line "'Oh, My Stars and Garters". And of course the relationship between Professor X and Magneto is always something I adore. You could give me a whole film with just Charles and Erik and I'll be there day one. X-Men 97 shows a new light to Magneto so I've come to love the character even more now. --------------------------------------------------------- What I personally disliked :( Cyclops in my eyes was done dirty in this film. He's the team leader in the comic's and here they kill him off in the third film. The part where Phoenix holds back Scott's Optic Energy Blast is pulled from the comic, Scott and Jean are able to see eachother eyes for the first time but unlike the comic Jean kills Scott. Cyclops plays a massive part in this storyline both in the comic and Animated Series so I never liked how he was removed from the narrative at the beginning of the movie. Instead we get more focus on Wolverine and Jean highlighting more of the Logan and Jean aspect of this storyline from the Comic/Animated Series but Scott was by far highlighted the most in this story alongside Jean. The reason Scott was killed off was because of studio interference with his actor, James Marsden. When director Bryan Singer (Director of X1 & X2) jumped ship to helm Superman Returns, Marsden came along to portray Clark Kent's romantic rival, Richard White. Since both productions were shooting at the same time, 20th Century Fox decided to kill him off with only ten minutes of screen time to punish him for leaving the film. Cyclops could've experienced a re-birth in this film, overcoming the death of Jean and finding strength in being a leader an element missing from his movie counterpart. From my understanding Cyclops in the original script under Bryan Singer would've been the one who created the Danger Room to both better himself and the X-Men. So it sounded like they were crafting him to be a leader something these films lacked. Juggernaut was.... well he was differant. I don't really like his design in this film and even the actor himself Vinnie Jones was pretty negative on this take on the character. In the comics Juggernaut is not a Mutant but instead gains his power from a mystical gem that grants him Superhuman Strength and abilities in general. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Thoughts :) Overall I actually enjoy this film for the most part even with it's problems. Thankfully we got X-Men Days of Future Past (2014) coming down the line a much better adaptation of an amazing storyline by the same name so that's exciting. But overall I'm glad you both enjoyed this film, people with less insight into the comics tend to enjoy Last Stand alot more compared to people who have read the Phoenix comic or watched the X-Men Animated Series.

LittleGalaxyBoy

This is actually the one I looked forward to the most, just because it has the type of ending the girls absolutely love xD Maybe give X-Men a wee break for now? I wouldn’t mind diving into Planet of The Apes, I remember it being mentioned. The 1968 one and then the recent trilogy should do.

Shehab Dawoud

Goodness! What's with you guys and watching movies featuring disintegrating humans this week!?! /joke So yes, because Erik was able to still move his chess piece, it appears that the cure wasn't as effective and long term as they had hoped. Like the common cold, I bet their X genes adapt. It's funny how often people who hate some movies in comments (this one, Origins) just LOVE to talk about it and tell people what they're support to think about it ahead of time. Guess they like trying to influence opinion. While this isn't one of the best films, to me it does feel the most like an animated series episode or comic, plot wise. What I like about it most is that while it features Logan very well as it should, he's not the central character everyone is focused around or always talking to. It feels more ensemble.

YodatheHobbit

I did a first watch of these initial three X-Men movies w/your reactions. Never seen the first three X-Men movies before. I think I like this third one better than the first two. Kept my attention the entire movie, whereas the first two didn't. Maybe I am just becoming acclimated to the X-Men franchise. I almost skipped this reaction b/c of negative stuff I read about the third movie. Glad I didn't. 10-15 years ago, I took my son at his request to see 2 (or 3?) of the X-Men movies (First Class was one of them) in the theater when released, but don't really remember them. I have had on my list for a while to stream Logan as a standalone movie. I went with my son and his friends to see the first Deadpool in the theater (when released) b/c they were only age 16 and needed an adult to get in. Glad I went. Deadpool is hilarious. In this third movie, does the after-credit scene mean that Captain Picard (Charles) is still around? The actor who plays the kid mutant w/wings is with Woody Harrelson in "THE MESSENGER" (2009), which seems like your kind of movie. The two go to homes to inform families of military members killed in action. Difficult subject matter but important and well done. I liked the movie. The actor who plays Pyro is also in the 12 Monkeys TV series. He is Cole (the Bruce Willis character) and is charismatic.

Clay F

You have the following x-men movies left 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2008) - IMO a terrible movie that is essentially ignored by the rest of the franchise, I wouldn't mind if you skipped it 2. X-Men: First Class (2011) - good movie you'll enjoy 3. The Wolverine (2013) - decent movie and worth the time 4. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - really good and very important 5. Deadpool (2016) - awesome movie that you two probably won't enjoy because it's very crazy 6. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - a below average movie but it's somewhat important 7. Logan (2017) - the best movie in the franchise and works as a great finale to the serious side of the franchise 8. Deadpool 2 (2018) -fun sequel and a good time all around 9. X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) - a dull, lifeless movie made just as the rights were being sold back to marvel so this movie doesn't matter, another one id love if you skipped 10. New Mutants (2021) - a bad movie also made as the rights were sold back to marvel, not important, so much so it was just put straight on streaming So there are 10 left but I'd say you only need 7 to avoid ones that are not just bad but leave no lasting legacy, but that's just my opinion of course and I'm sure others here will say otherwise

Choof

This wasn’t terrible or anything, but it is my least favorite of the original trilogy; maybe after X2 the expectations were too high, or not having Bryan Singer direct was too much of a loss, but even with the new subplots it just kind of had a “been there, done that” feel to it

JL_83

To me this is one of the weaker entries in the X-Men movie series, but certainly not the worst. And its got some pretty cool moments. But its a necessary step to get to the next few movies, which are some of my favorites in the series. I’m curious to hear your thoughts about the ending. And I noticed in your reaction to War of the Worlds that Carly went with the abbreviated “Oh!” A few times…perhaps too flabbergasted to get out the “fetch” or the “boy” 😂

Dan M

XX-in-Bed

Hail to the King

I loved the “he’s like beast from beauty and the beast” comment considering his X-Men name is Beast. hahah. Great reaction. From here on out it gets weird continuity wise. it’s going to contradict itself constantly. You just gotta roll with it.

djKENTO

I'm so excited for you to see First Class and Days of Future Past.

Taylor Stuckey

The BIGGEST reaction here is that you didn't notice they de-aged Xavier & Magneto in the beginning of the movie! Ha! Great reaction, you two!

Philip Alan

Never have I needed these reactions more than what I do right now. At my parents on holiday and have spent every day so far in hospital visiting my oldest sister who is about to lose her battle with renal failure. Very difficult seeing her frail figure in a hospital bed drifting in and out of consciousness. It is times like these that make me wish I had more friends to talk to and that I had been a better friend to those are my friends. Word of advice to all: Make sure you tell your loved ones how much you love them and hold them close. You just never know how long we have each other and we need to treasure what moments we do have together.

Brian McGovern

Cassie, in the scene in the Danger Room when Colossus (the metal skinned mutant) tosses Wolverine and he cuts off the giant robot’s head, that was called the “Fastball Express” in the comics. The robot was a Sentinel, also featured in the comics. The Fastball Express was a move used frequently by Colossus and Wolverine. Wolverine and Colossus were close friends, as were Wolverine and Nightcrawler (the blue teleporting mutant from the last movie). In fact, for a self-described loner, Wolverine had a number of close friends (he served with Captain America in World War 2, held Spider-Man in high esteem, etc). You’ve seen a much more comic book accurate version of Colossus in the Deadpool movies (the mutant with a Russian accent that keeps preaching to Deadpool about being a better person). The winged mutant isn’t called “Eagle” or “Pegasus”.😂 His name is Angel. In the comics, he’s one of the original X-Men, as were Cyclops (Scott), Jean Grey, Iceman and Beast (the blue furry member of the President’s cabinet). A personal peeve of mine is that Juggernaut, introduced in this movie, IS NOT a mutant. His powers (he’s unstoppable once he gets started) are the result of a magical gem he found. He is a frequent foe of the X-Men and is actually Professor X’s step brother (a biographical fact left out of the movies), so his inclusion in an X-Men movie makes sense - but he isn’t a mutant. PS: I hope you consider re-watching the Deadpool movies as part of your X-Men reactions. Since you were previously unaware of the X-Men mythos, you missed a LOT in the Deadpool movies. A re-watch will almost be like a first watch with all the additional information you now possess. One minor Deadpool spoiler: when he’s injected with the serum that causes his transformation, that’s Wolverine’s DNA that acts as the catalyst, which is why he has such a strong healing factor. They don’t mention it in the movie, so I felt like it was a non-spoiler spoiler; real “inside baseball” stuff, so to speak.

Just Plain Bob

I also must watch it later, but I am really looking forward to your opinion of the movie. Thanks again Cassie for doing this series.

Tom Furze

Correct on both accounts! 1. The chess-piece definitively moved. 2. Post Credits: Charles Xavier’s says, “Hello, Moira,” but don’t let that thought fester! X-Men fans (and #MeToo movement) pulled director Brett Ratner’s X-Men card and he hasn’t been seen since - we’re happily moving on. Next up in release order is “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, a box office bomb, but one I feel you will BOTH appreciate nonetheless - followed by “X-Men: First Class,” one of my favorites. You guys may not be Supa-Dupa, diehard X-Men fans, but I can safely say that you both will continue to have fun with the upcoming films.

Ike

Lord I hate this movie. The battle scene near the end is just insultingly stupid

ShazD

Oh, yeah, I can't *wait* to hear what you two have to say about the ending! Unfortunately, I have to put in my 8 hours today before I can take the time to watch your reaction. Hmmm, perhaps a long lunch? 😉

Phil Stubblefield

You're bouncing through the changing and rearranging casts of Star Trek and X Men at the same time. Very brave.
