[YT Edit] Mr. Holland's Opus (1995)
Added 2024-04-24 20:43:38 +0000 UTC
Hey guys! Here is the YT edit for Mr. Holland's Opus, which will premiere later this evening!
The people, the students, are his work. His opus is the people you see in that final scene. The name seems mundane and his work truly is more mundane than the opus of Mozart or The Beatles, but the story is not Amadeus or Hard Day's Night. The story is Mr Holland's Opus.

Take away any art from schools is dang sin. Heck we had individual instrument classes even, guitar etc,. Good or not, its a different needed part of the brain stimulant. Great movie,,,,

Love this channel. You're becoming your own 'Mr. Holland' in your own way. Hope you have as much fun with this as we do. I can tell it's a lot of work, though.

Side note. I was very good friends with Richard Dreyfuss's wife, Jeramie Rain, before they got married. We worked together at CBS. I still have the invitation to their wedding reception. Great actor. Richard's first big starring role was Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl.

Cassie has become such a great communicator! I love the insights, genuine emotion, and the jokes are great too. While Carly is damn adorable, even when she's coughing, Cassie has become the ultimate communicator. Sorry, Carly, you're amazing, babe, but Cassie has become something incredible. I wish Cassie had a channel where she helped women to walk away from the toxic side of feminism that hurts them long-term, and embrace being a powerful woman. In my book, Cassie is more impressive than a boss babe. She's multidimensional, fun-loving, a great mom, good wife, and role model. Maybe this is "Cassie's Joy," a new symphony of behavior for everyone to emulate. Mad respect. -Irish.

Wonderful movie, and it unsurprisingly inspired a lot of incoming college students to major in education. They did a spectacular job de-aging Richard Dreyfuss.

Then again, maybe she just needs to switch instruments.

7:30 You're horrible, Miss Lang. Give it up and become a stripper. Or worse yet, a teacher.
So, when are we getting Doctor Zhivago?

When this movie was first released, an Opus was better known as a penguin in the comic strip Bloom County. A lot of people of a certain age thought it could have used a better name.

I still have a Valentine’s Day card from my 1st grade teacher, who told my parents that if a child can read, she can do anything. Teachers matter.
That was 55 years ago!

As a teacher, I appreciate the struggles he delt with, minus the teacher crush his student had. As I have said before, you never know the impact you have on your students, sometimes years later. But all my students have been worth the time I spent pouring into their lives. Not because I was all that awesome, but they showed what impact they would have on the world. If any of my students read this, know that I am very proud of you.

I'm personally not a big fan of this movie. I just found it a tad cloying and emotionally manipulative. I also thought his magnum opus that the whole movie was leading up to kind of sounded like something from a football halftime show. But hey, that's just my opinion and I respect yours and anyone else who enjoyed it. That's the great thing about art. 🙂

Cassie, you really need to check out a movie called Stand and Deliver with Edward James Olmos. It's right along the same lines, and it's based on a true story.
