Edit2: All fixed! It should sound much better now...

EDIT:Wweeeeelllll that’s embarrassing, i don’t know why my snacking was so obnoxious in this one, audio settings may have been off by accident or I was just STARVING LAY OFF ME!! Just kidding, ben’s going to see if he can fix it!!

While this I didn't think this was as good as the second one, it was still good! I just love going on these intergalactic adventures with the crew haha!! And with Spock back, it's hard not to feel excited about what's next :) Hope you enjoy!

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) - Full Reaction

Comments

The sideburns are strong with this crew.

James Melton

"If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon" is basically like saying "....and your point is?" Just Scotty being old school. And, Klingons consider it a great honor to die in battle or in service of the mission...they don't necessarily WANT to...but they're happy to and their "loved" ones don't really mourn....more like they "remember with honor"

Pianodean

just put it on the calendar eeeee

Cassie

I thought the bag was going to explode

ArsTropica

Agreed! I actually really like Star Trek V and think it’s underrated. I honestly think it’s the best scored and shot of all the Star Trek movies. Yes… it’s got major issues, but it’s also got some of the best and most pure Trek moments in the series (I’m think of Kirk’s pain speech as just one). I actually think Star Trek VI has aged terribly. It lit/shot like an episode of TV and the early CG looks wonky now. But l think Cassie will enjoy them all.

Cliff Stephenson

The Australian version if she can find it.

Mike Lemon

I love cereal combos! Ever try Cornflakes and Grape Nuts? Keeps the crunch factor to the end and is the cereal historical equivalent of making you misbehaving kids sit on the couch and hug when they are fighting with each other.

Jason Fulbright

You need to watch Crocodile Dundee for Australia Day (Jan 26). You will love it.

Nick Hewett

New rule. Cassie needs to eat before a reaction. She went after that bag of popcorn like a starved wolf.

Rick Williams

Although, I'd recommend "Q Who," "Best of Both Worlds" Part 1 and 2 and "Family" before watching "First Contact."

Chrissonator

Part 6 is just as good as 2 and 4.

RJ MacReady

First Contact is superb, but I like all the TNG ones more than the OGs. Prob an age thing; I binged TNG to death back in the day as that was what was out at the time.

AdrianF

Not my favourite Trek but it does have Christopher Lloyd and now you're on no. 4 which is the best entry imo. 7 also has some OG cast members and is a great bridge to introducing the next generation of Captain Picard. Then comes 8, First Contact, which is widely thought of as one of if not THE best Trek movie, period.

Odd Thomas

love it " Mt. Sulu"

Tony Olmos

I'd love to see her react to ST:VI... as for the TNG movies, I'd love to see those too at some point.

Chrissonator

Yea, not to mention, talking to Andrew Probert who designed the ship, their "torpedo bay" was actually the deflector dish. The ship was only intended to have wing tip disruptors as they show at the beginning of the movie. lol

Chrissonator

I enjoy 5, the only thing I think it lost was the VFX, since ILM was busy with Star Wars, Bill got hoodwinked on the VFX for it. :/

Chrissonator

When the Enterprise was lost in this movie, it was a punch to the gut. This was the Enterprise we'd known since the original series began, and had become a character unto herself.

Chrissonator

What, no way! 6 is the best one!

Justin Samlal

As an original generation Trekkie, I'm thrilled to see you enjoy the Original Series and the spin-off films. Keep having fun watching the other adventures of the Enterprise crew!

luke chung

well, now I am more interested in re-watching it. I do love these characters so any excuse to watch them in action.

Walter

She has said she's going to full distance and watching all six OG films which I think is a good idea because VI is actually a good movie and I'm confident she'll actually enjoy V more than most other people do.

Stick Figure Studios

I wouldn't object to seeing her reactions to the reboot films, but she should definitely continue with the other original cast films first... at least watch Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In my opinion it's the best of the original cast films and sets up The Next Generation series quite well in regards to relations with the Klingon Empire. I'd still watch her react to Star Trek V, but... well. It's Star Trek V (☉_ ☉)

D. T. Nelson

I agree. The Motion Picture was more of science fiction movie than Wrath of Khan. Khan was more of an action movie. Voyage Home is a good movie with some nice humor.

Rick Williams

You can stop once you’ve seen part 4. Then,I highly recommend the rebooted films with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.

Brian Lowery

I think you're really going to like the 4th movie.

Powers209

I always thought Lloyd was a little miscast TBH.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I like 5 in spite of its massive problems. I think Cassie will enjoy it too about as much as he enjoyed Rocky 5.

Stick Figure Studios

The truth is out there!👽

Bryan Erickson

Only partial Trekkie. She'll need to watch some Next Generation, before moving onto First Contact. Once she does that, she'll be a 100% Trekkie. Right now, she's only a 68% Trekkie.

John Liebling

Animal farm: Two legs gooood. Four legs baaaad.

John Liebling

Star Trek III, The search for silence.

John Liebling

I do believe it was so loud, plenty of UFOs heard her.

John Liebling

If she is interested in any of the Next Generation movies, she'll need to watch 4-5 Borg inspired tv shows first, as she did with the original. I am sure there are plenty of Trekkies who could recommend which episodes. There are a lot more great and good episodes to choose from, in comparison to what the original offered. There are also a lot of great borg episodes on voyager which would help Cassie gain a greater in-depth knowledge of the borg, if that what she wants to do. She might get burned out, focusing on six movies with the original crew. After she watches Contact with Jodie Foster, I'd like her at least watch the two-part next generation episode and then go into First Contact...before she moves into the three Chris Pine movies.

John Liebling

She's said she's doing all 6 and I think that's a good call. 5 is definitely the weakest of the OG movies, but there is still much to like in it and I suspect she will end up enjoying it more than not.

Stick Figure Studios

I can't wait for the comments in the YT edit

Hail to the King

Part 2 of the trilogy!

Yaisu

Didn't I send you enough snacks? JK In all honesty I really don't care about Star Trek like I have no interest. Being in the middle of of that Trek Fest, for years has made it worse, I only watch it to support you.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

yes, I have heard about those pitfalls. It's a shame actually, and I wish he got to make the film he intended. But for me, all of that simply adds up to a pretty bad movie. Though I do admit that I haven't seen it since the first time in theaters - so that's what? 34 years ago? Maybe it is time to revisit.

Walter

A few notes on the film: The Klingon ship, the Bird of Prey, was supposed to be a Romulan ship. Originally, there was a subplot showing the Klingons stealing/acquiring the ship for the cloaking technology. They built the model with a Romulan aesthetic (complete with the Romulan bird motif) before cutting that subplot. It was too late to do anything about the model at this point so it just became a Klingon ship and 'somehow, the Klingons have acquired cloaking technology.' The whole 'remember' thing at the end of ST2 was the film hedging their bets. Nimoy wanted to be killed off in the second film (due to his distaste for the first film) but found himself really, really enjoying the making of ST2 and second guessing leaving the franchise. The 'remember' was put in there, along with the whole epilogue of his coffin on the Genesis planet, just in case Nimoy came back. When ST2 opened to rave reviews and great box office, Nimoy used his leverage to negotiate for being director of ST3 and...as you saw...came back.

Matt Rose

Shatner got cut off at the knees. There are plenty of things in the film that are absolutely his fault, but he also got his budget completely slashed right before principal photography. His entire climax had to be completely scaled back and a lot of other scenes were diminished as well. He was also hit by incredibly bad timing as all of the 'good' special effects houses were completely booked (or out of his budget) by the time they went into post production. I'll talk more about it when we get to the film itself but there are lots of really great things in ST5. A lot of the interactions between Kirk/Bones/Spock are exceptional. Many individual scenes/set pieces are excellent. The character of Sybok is compelling and is very well acted by Lawrence Luckinbill. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is outstanding. The plot itself is pure Star Trek and plays like an episode of the classic tv show.

Matt Rose

Munch-gate has been resolved!

Matt Rose

Is the YouTube edit of Wrath of Khan coming soon?

Hat

I still enjoyed watching didn't ruin anything for me, just kinda funny

Scott Souza

Smh 😆

Scott Souza

Though yes, 5 is pretty awful, I'd still rather watch that than have to sit through TMP again.

Art of Free Speech

Spot on in the order of precedence, though I would argue TMP and V could be swapped on any given day. I did an entire reasonably popular Quora response on which ST movies are the favorites of fans, and not coincidentally, II,IV, and First Contact were highlighted in that response. IOW, even when we get to the ST:TNG movies, the best of them is an even numbered offering.

Art of Free Speech

All of the even numbered movies are the best, I’d rank them IV II VI III TMP V

Bruce Redfield

Don’t stop now. You need to watch STIV The Voyage Home which in my opinion is the best of the original series movies.

Bruce Redfield

So funny to see you noticed the overamplified popcorn eating sounds. I couldn't help but think, numerous times "did she plant a mic INSIDE the popcorn on purpose?" LOL... I adjusted the audio and was fine, but glad you got it fixed. I'm really looking forward to ST4:A Voyage Home. It's by far and away my favorite of the original series movies. I tend to think Star Trek:TOS purists prefer Wrath of Khan, but those of us who like a little humor with our Trek prefer A Voyage Home. It'll certainly be interesting to hear which of the two you preferred.

Art of Free Speech

Nice job catching the Tribbles easter egg!

Neill Shaughness

Yes, the ASMR of popcorn bags and munching (mostly the bag) was distracting at first, but after turning down the volume on the reaction video and boosting the volume on the movie I found a manageable balance. I could still hear Cassie and the movie. Not sure what happened with the mics on this one. Were you using new, more sensitive mics? Because no other reaction video you have done—including those when you were eating from bags of popcorn—produced such a clear recording of plastic foil bags. It was actually impressive in a way.

D. T. Nelson

it's a hilarious retcon, but quick thinking on their part. Just funny in retrospect. It would have been great if someone had turned to her and said something.

Walter

Boy, you just gotta love retconning, don't you? It's why we get Obi-Wan pretending Anakin and Vader are two different people in STAR WARS and the lame-ass "it's true from a certain point of view" justification for said lie in ROTJ.

Stick Figure Studios

4 and 6 are pretty good. I thought 6 was a great send off for the original crew. 5 is just bad though. If you read the behind the scenes, it was a mess from the start. I wouldn't mind you skipping that one. But if PiB watches, I will too, unfortunately.

Walter

This may be a minority opinion, but I actually think THE MOTION PICTURE is a better "science fiction" film than WRATH OF KHAN (I've always felt it was woefully under-appreciated), but KHAN is a better action/revenge movie and on that level it's terrific entertainment. I do still like SEARCH FOR SPOCK, but VOYAGE HOME is a definite improvement. That movies just a delight from start to finish.

Stick Figure Studios

Then again there aren't many science fiction movies as a whole that are as good as Wrath of Khan much less just narrow it down to just other Star Trek movies. For me it's just The Voyage Home & The Empire Strikes Back.

Shawn Kildal

It's a bit silly that Saavik didn't speak up before they shot his body off into the Genesis Wave. You know, maybe just a, "oh hey, anybody lay hands with Spock before he died? No big deal but you know, he may have transferred his katra, or living spirit...just wondering..." Thanks cool, Saavik, you go ahead and keep that to yourself...

Walter

In this episode of Popcorn In Bed, Cassie reviews a bag of popcorn while Star Trek III is playing in the background...

Walter

Who knows Cassie’s dad’s Wi-Fi password?

Jason Dolan

No way, that always makes her reactions more fun.

Carol_White

JPDotCom23

As pretty much everyone concurs, III was not as good as II - and basically none of them are. But the great thing about Star Trek movies is that none of them is bad and most of them hover somewhere around the "pretty good" mark, with IV and VI both being really good. The other nice thing about the rest of them is that the production quality steadily improves as we go forward which helps to smooth out any perceivable rough edges. Having survived I and III undeterred, I believe it's safe to say you will enjoy all the remaining movies.

David Collins

Personally, I find the "Odd-numbered/even-numbered" accepted wisdom of the quality of Star Trek movies to be a bit overly simplistic, but you are right about this one not being as good as WRATH OF KHAN. The next one, however, THE VOYAGE HOME is one of the best and was actually the highest grossing Trek movie until the Chris Pine ones. I am certain you will love it. Great reaction as always, Cassie. So pleased to see you getting so into this series. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

Mine too

Shawn Kildal

I love that your Dad made the WiFi password “000destruct0” 😂 That’s funny! I didn’t read all the comments. Someone probably already confirmed it. But, yes, that was Doc from Back To The Future (Christopher Lloyd), as the Klingon Captain. And they changed the actress that played Saavik (Kirstie Alley) in Part 2. You definitely need to go watch Part 4 ASAP! On a technical note. It may have been my imagination, but the ambient noises in the room seemed unusually loud in this reaction. The popcorn, the rustling of the bag, the little neck pillow. Everything was being picked up by the mic extra loud. IDK, maybe it was my imagination.

Robert da Spruce

It's official....Cassie is a Trekkie......Welcome to the Family......LOL

Walter Crockett

Me: I like to watch movies at home, because at the theatre people talk through the entire film, use their phones, and eat loud snacks Cassie: I'm about to ruin this man's entire evening

Hail to the King

On to IV!🐳 The crunch crunch snap crackle pop made me hungry for a bowl of Corn Chex & Rice Crispy's🌽❤

Celeste McAllister

I just love that you're enjoying Star Trek. It's funny how these characters grow on you isn't it. There are some really amazing ones still to see in TOS as well. Even in its episodic format, the show always made me feel like the crew genuinely cared for each other.

danzthename

I kind of liked your audio in this one, it was never more real! I was very excited when you recognized Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back to the Future. This is controversial, but I can't wait for you to eventually see Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock in the new Star Treks.

Brian's Dog

I have not started the Star Trek film reactions yet. So, haven’t been reading the comments or paying attention to the posts. Then I saw the re-post with an edit about “snacking” and got curious, so I read some comments. Got so curious, that I had to scrub through the Reaction to see what it was really like. I haven’t laughed that Good in a long while. Thank You Cassie. Thank You and Please don’t feel embarrassed. The Funny Human Moments are the kind that bring people together more so than any other… because Everyone can Relate. Nobody’s Perfect. (-: I Really needed this today. Thank You again ;-)

Larry Darrell

Watching these three Star Treks (and the 4 TV ones) has been like when I watched them for the first time, the emotions are just like in the theater. This is why I like your channel so much, this is what reacting is about. I've always known you are good at this, especially when I check out other channels, but damn, you are really good. From the beginning when you stopped everything during the replay of the end of Wrath, to the end, Thanks, and the Adventure Continues...

Keith Jones

Yes, ST5 is the weakest one (my humble opinion) but by no means unwatchable or the worst of anything, its still better than any of the new Trek films which are just dumb action films with the Star Trek name attached to them. ST5 has some great character moments, especially with Kirk, Spock & McCoy, it has some good ideas and good performances, FYI , there was a lot of issues behind the scenes with this one, Shatner was directing for the first time and things didn't go too well, problems with budget, the studio interfering a lot and ILM (the special effects company) not being available to do the film so they had to use a lesser company, that's why the effects don't look as good, but I would rather watch ST5 than any of the Abrams/Kurtzman Trek. If you think something is bad, that's fine, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but let people judge things for themselves and not put them off by saying its the worst film of all time, I could name a 100 films that are worse! anyway, at least ST6 was a great send-off, Nicholas Meyer, director of Wrath Of Khan returned and stuck the landing.

Khan1001

Good reaction Cassie. Yes this movie wasn't as good as the second one. But, still a good adventure. The fourth movie is great. I think you will like it.

Rick Williams

Yes. Her microphone is very sensitive. Her eating and drinking was very noisy. I had to turn my volume down. And her cracking her toes were like gun shots.

Rick Williams

She's already said she's doing all 6. I don't think you need to worry.

Stick Figure Studios

My hope is she jumps forward to the Abrams reboot trilogy before going on to TNG.

Stick Figure Studios

You realize that when to say that, you make it sound like you've seen 20 movies.

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie reminded me of Sam Rockwell in Galaxy Quest with her recounting of what happened in the last movie. “ So they sent Spock’s body down to the regeneration thingy from the Genesis thingy”. 😝

Brian McGovern

"The needs of the one... " "Live long and prosper." BTW, your Dad's passcode is... the BEST!

Terry Yelmene

Someone call Cassie's dad and tell him to change the wifi password....

Lost Kansas Farmboy

Free wifi at Cassie's dad's place!

Canadianant

My unsolicited take: yes the "odd number curse" is real but I feel like folk overplay exactly how weak the weak ones are because we're comparing them to the great ones. Something that happens in all fandoms, I suspect. My take is that 1 is ok, it just suffers from being a little long. They spend *a lot* of time on the visuals lol but otherwise it's basically just a giant ST episode. Not great but ok. 2 is easily my favourite and probably is for most people. Just top tier shit. 3 is kinda underrated. It's not amazeballs but it's better than average. Kruge is a pretty cookie cutter villain but the rest is fairly decent. 4 is great. Obviously no details but I really enjoy it and I think most fans do too. 5 is pretty lackluster, bordering on yikes. It's rough, no two ways about it. But there's lots of worse cinema out there and it's by no means unwatchable or anything. 6 goes in my second slot behind WoK. It came out when I was in elementary school, was the first ST film I saw and what later prompted me to get into TOS after starting out on TNG. It slapped then and slaps now but I may be biased😆 We know you by now though and know that you'll find something to enjoy in all of them🙂🖖

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Even numbered Star Treks = Good... Odd numbered Star Treks = Less good.

Jason Hoppenworth

Wow, I had no idea that guy (the sgt) from Chips was Chris Pine's dad. My models were relatively simple and in which my uncle help me glue together (as I was only age 11 -- in 1974).. They were like those car models you could buy and assemble/glue together.

Clay F

I literally did a Homer Simpson "WHOO WHO" when this notification dropped.

Ryan Geiger

Don't call things "The WORST ... Ever made". That's your opinion masquerading as an objective fact. If you don't like it, then say so, just don't pretend that you get to decide for everyone what movies suck and which ones don't. I thought 5 was a great movie, it wasn't my favorite but I loved it and I always watch it in chronological order when I watch all the Star Trek movies. That's my opinion and that's how you share an opinion respectfully.

Sample-Text

Well I will say this... You should watch them all. The same for The Godfather part 3!!! Just because person(s) don't like a movie or certain episode or part x of a series doesn't mean you should watch it. Least I bring up Star Wars vs Star Trek! Some like me love both, some like one and hate the other... Some don't like either... I myself couldn't stand Star Trek Enterprise. Love TNG, Voy, DS9 mostly... Strange New Worlds is how Star Trek should be, thee Greatest ST series EVER! TNG is very Long as well as Voy and DS9, SNW is 10 episodes per season!

Randolph Tirazona

Spy Kids was the worst movie ever made (in my opinion) lol. Star Trek V is a superb film if you enjoy the character interaction between Kirk, Spock and McCoy and Chekov and Sulu. Of course if you find those sorts of scenes dull and boring in general then yeah I can see why you wouldn't like the film 🙂

shireknight

honestly i accept the sound of snacking as part of the experience. my favorite part was when you 'quit' and filled you hand with the contents and put the bag away.

rubberkidney

I think Cassie said she would be watching the new movies after these. I remember watching Chris’ dad, Robert Pine, on Chips. My brother still has a model of the Enterprise at his house. I believe it’s a very intricate expensive design that he put together. I can’t remember how long it took him.

Tara

Jane Harker

I think there’s something different with the audio, in general. I can hear way more going on than in your other videos.

Bryan Erickson

hand shaking, tendons quivering as you attempt to assume the pose, sweat pouring down your brow thumb: nope

rubberkidney

Yes, Cassie please check your microphone settings!, I had to mute you a lot , the popcorn eating was very distracting and I could hear your every move!

Khan1001

Star Trek III, The search for a popcorn bag opener!

Steve Moliterno

Yeah I get that but the problem with just going with that story arc to provide context for two TNG films means that a lot of the what made TNG so good is glossed over. With the TOS watch, We had Khan, a classic, a comedy episode, etc. I think the T NG watch should be similar. Not just the Borg. Perhaps Darmok and The Inner Light and Measure of a Man should be considered too. It's going to be tough to narrow it down.

Caomhan84

The chewing noises were too much. I know you’ve eaten during movies before but this was way different. I could hear everything.

Bryan Erickson

I couldnt take it, I had to watch the reaction through davinci resolve so i could enable voice isolation

Variable38

Cassie if you want to see the introduction of Spock's dad (same actor) and his human mom, you should watch season 2 episode "Journey to Babel" It's one of the best episodes.

Patrick Reynolds

Definitely The Best Of Both Worlds 1 & 2. Also Q Who and Family. I think those 4 episodes are essential for the first 2 TNG movies. I'd love to add some character episodes. As much as Cassie's willing to commit to.

Katie Jackson

Also Q Who & Family

Katie Jackson

4 was always my Favorite.

Sample-Text

Those chips sounded reeeeaaal good. Lol

nick bell

After Cassie reacts to Star Trek 6, I wonder if she goes straight to the Abrams reboot trilogy or the Next Generation. I get the sense it's the Abrams trilogy.

Shawn Kildal

Yes she must be assured #6 is just as good as #2.

RJ MacReady

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS (3x26, 4x01) should be included for sure, it would also provide some important backstory for First Contact. I would also add THE MEASURE OF A MAN (2x09) as a Data episode, especially how much Cassie likes its genre. I think getting some backstory and understanding of his character would be beneficial prior to the movies. For a Picard focused episode DARMOK (5x02) would be my first pick. I know many like THE INNER LIGHT (5x25) and I'm one of them, but I'm not sure it could really stand on its own as a single episode pick. CAUSE AND EFFECT (5x18) could also be a good pick as a "generic", sci-fi focused episode.

Gábor Árki

Cassie, you will love the next one. It's very upbeat, funny, heartwarming and there is no violence or death. Funny, when it came out the idea of conservation of animals being important to the future of the planet seemed like a reach. Now, we understand how ecosystems are interdependant. It was ahead of its time. And yes, it was a different actress playing Saavik.

sharkey197

It wasn't really the snack, even though that part was the worse. Feels like something was off with the audio recording in general. Every sound that should have been subtle or quiet was loud and harsh, as if the volume was automatically adjusted to the maximum.

Gábor Árki

Not just popcorn. Loud gulps as well. But we all enjoy Cassie's reactions.

John Liebling

Let us all make sure to encourage Cassie to watch #6...after she reacts to #5.

John Liebling

Mt Suulu Double giggles

John Liebling

Well yeah, obviously. But I hope that people give her a broad range of episodes to watch, even if it is only 4 or 5. TNG is just as cool as TOS, the crew is arguably even more of a family, and I would even argue that the enterprise D is a bigger character than the original. And there are a lot more episodes to choose from. So people are going to be busy debating when we get there, I'm sure.

Caomhan84

Completely agree about DS9 - its my favourite ST show and a totally underrated in the sci-fi community. TNG though is the foundation and DS9 and Voyager would make little sense without them. Also I Love Voyager - its what got my partner into Star Trek (not that he had any choice in the matter he just didnt know it! Hes watched it more times than I have and its got such a special place in my heart. I cant say I have seen ANYONE react to Voyager...!

DannyB

2, 4 and part 6 are considered the better of the 6 original crew movies and I tend to agree. 6 is just as good as IMO.

RJ MacReady

Best of both worlds is one of the greatest double episode with cliffhanger episodes of television EVER

DannyB

I always enjoy all the movies with the original crew... this one is getting better and better... I agree on seeing a couple of TNG-episodes - at least if the voyage takes her to the "First Contact" one - then I have to advocate Cassie seeing the "The Best Of Both Worlds"-two parter...

Jens Kristensen

The best part of this reaction series is honestly seeing Cassie become a Trek fan in real time. I honestly was not expecting her to take to it so easily, but I should have known. It's in her blood. Her dad's Wi-Fi password was literally "000destruct0"😂. Now onto Star Trek 4.... Which she will absolutely adore. I predict. We're going to get "Are you joking me?!" and tons of laughter and recognizing this and that. It's going to be a blast 😂

Caomhan84

"Let’s make sure that History never forgets the name, Enterprise.”

Uncle Phoenix

Yes, once Cassie finishes ST6, she should watch some key episodes from TNG Seasons 1-2 (the first 2 seasons were a bit hit & miss) but I think you have to watch seasons 3-7 in their entirety, TNG was at its very best season 3 onwards. I would also recommend DS9 & Voyager (I know DS9 is a superior show but I have a soft spot for Voyager) but I think that would be too much to get through, maybe watch them in own time.

Khan1001

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS 1 and 2, obviously.

Matt Rose

It was Star Trek 2 and 3 that made me fall in love with James Horner's music. He's one of my favorite film composers even over the music of John Williams (for me). I completely agree about the 'Stealing the Enterprise' track. Pure genius.

Agrippa

I forgot he played the klingon, Sarek being such a long running role into TNG even, I want to say him James Cromwell and Jeffrey Combs are probably the biggest recurring actors across the all the series/movies.

Bubba Fett

Mark Lenard played Spock's father Sarek in the original series as well as in the films. He did also play an important role in the Balance of Terror as you say as well as the Klingon commander in the opening of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Well spotted.

Agrippa

I saw Star Trek IV at the cinema as a teen and it was a blast. But it did not age well on repeat viewing. Now though that 80s nostalgia is SOOOO good, it is probably my second fave in the series. Can't wait for you to share that one ! What do we think Trekkies... give her a top five list of Next Generation episodes to watch ?

pinkdino99

Constructive criticism... The audio in this one seemed way off and super sensitive compared to previous reactions. Change something with the mic setup? Everything going on was distractingly loud, and holy cow, that bag at the beginning. I had to mute...

Guy Gordon

Original Star Trek was before my time, but I saw The Next Generation when I was little, and loved it - not so much the films but the tv show. I hope you give it a go.

Delia P

DS9 was far superior to STNG, in terms of story and writing quality. Which isn't to say STNG wasn't great as well.

The One True Chris

The more I watch, the more I think her microphone sensitivity is just cranked up way too high.

The One True Chris

I love the channel, I really do. But in this particular case, the rustling in the popcorn bag, and especially the crunching, is so distracting/annoying as to make it almost unwatchable.

The One True Chris

Tell your dad to change his password!! 🤣. Love this.

Scott Macaulay

the studio cut the budget in half right before principal photography. In all honesty, Shatner was completely cut off at the knees and set up for failure from the get go.

Matt Rose

I don’t dislike it. But the studio was skimping on the budget. You can really tell with some of the set pieces. They’re not good. But the camaraderie between the crew was very good.

MotoDork

seasons 3-5 for sure.

Matt Rose

I am excited but not as excited as I was at this moment a basketball game I recently attended. https://youtu.be/UM3so0YTvhE?si=dPMmTSv2G54vRCTm Or I was in the final three minutes of this game. What a great reaction! The "sitting duck" line and the Wi-Fi password reveal! 🤣 The reaction is almost better than the movie. Surely, the reaction will be better than the movie when we get to V, but next one will be very very extra special!

Mike LL

good to see another fan of ST5. It's not a favorite per se, but the interactions between Kirk/Spock/Bones are fantastic.

Matt Rose

"There's nothing so life threatening that should prevent you from taking in the scenery and brandish some dramatic poses." - James T Kirk

Brent Fugett

Probably his second most villainous role. To see him at his most villainous, probably have to watch a movie about a rabbit.

Mike LL

Also the Next Generation is often sited as the best sci-fi tv show ever

DannyB

the weird thing about ST is usually the even numbers are best and the odd numbers are just ODD... 2, 4, 6, 8 are the best but I do quite like 7. Though to watch 7, 8 a couple episodes of the Next Generation are a MUST.

DannyB

I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reaction to this one, Apart from the 1st film I always consider this one to be the slowest, but damn, every time I watch it, it gets better and better. The next one is seen as the fan favourite, but my personal favourite two are films 5 and 6, because like Wrath of Khan, they are both character driven pieces and I find them both to be very emotional. Can I make a request for the next film please Cassie. Wherever you used to put your microphone for previous films can you put it back there please, because we could literally hear everything you did during this movie, from the rustling of your popcorn packet to the gulps of your drink, the snaps of your fingers, when you sniffed your nose and even when you moved your feet lol. Many thanks, Jay :-)

shireknight

That entire 'Stealing the Enterprise' scene is just filled with quotable lines.

Matt Rose

New patron here, but watching you on youtube for a while, really glad you are doing Star Trek, the next one is a fan favourite, Its a lot of fun, I think you will really enjoy it!

Khan1001

Good point about Christopher Lloyd, but I did have flashes of Doc from B to the F.

Clay F

Amazing Reaction 👏 I can't wait for 4! It's my personal favorite and such a comfort movie for me. 🖖🐋

Katie Jackson

Good point. True. I guess I was influenced that I found Kirstie Alley more pleasant to look at, when I should have been focused more on the role and the writing.

Clay F

I puddled a little watching Cassie react to the interactions. "May the wind be at our backs. Stations please.". Cassie seeing you on board with this great family I grew up with is just wonderful. Thank you for joining the ride!

Brent Fugett

I think Alley works well for the requirements of that film, at being vulnerable and uncertain. But Robin Curtis is a much more plausible Vulcan.

Robin T

Cassie: you're going to hear from others that ST5 is terrible/bad/average/skippable. I encourage you to watch it and make up your own mind as the film does have a small but extremely fervent fanbase. I have a good friend who cites it as his personal favorite of the original 6 films. I disagree with him but hey, more power to him.

Matt Rose

I honestly didn’t mean for that to sound contradictory or contentious. It certainly was louder than normal - just meant to convey that I converted that distraction into something else familiar (like my wife cracking nuts during Monday Night Football).

Ike

I’m glad you’re enjoying the journey so far. In many ways the best is still to come. 5 is very average but 4 and 6 are among the most enjoyable.

James UK

When you were asking if Spock was really gone in your Wrath of Khan reaction, I was tempted to tell you to just look at the title for Star Trek III. But I figured you’d find out soon enough. 😊 Looking forward to watching your reaction Cassie! 🖖

Robert da Spruce

Cassie: you're going to want to jump into ST4 right away. Films 2-4 form a trilogy in terms of overall plot throughline, and ST4 is one of the most popular films of the entire franchise. Indeed, when it was out theatrically, it was a mega hit and crossed over to appeal to non STAR TREK fans worldwide. You'll really enjoy it.

Matt Rose

It's almost unfair to compare to wrath of Khan, but this one is still pretty good in its own right. Usually I like to watch them as a pair given how closely related they are. You'll notice from the trouble with tribbles, Klingons don't quite look the same, the empire got a budget increase 🤣, some fun trivia, Klingon is a language you can learn. The actor for savik was in TOS, his big intro was one of the episodes I'd hoped you'd watch "the Balance of Terror" but didn't make the cut.

Bubba Fett

It's really between ST2 and ST3 as to his 'best' work. You won't go wrong with either. KRULL is another outstanding early effort from him. But again, 'Stealing the Enterprise', beyond being simply a fantastic musical cue, is one of the absolute best marriages of music to a scene to enhance the action being witnessed. When the most riveting scene in all of the 6 original films is the Enterprise essentially backing out of a garage, you've done something spectacular.

Matt Rose

I personally think the Star Trek II soundtrack is Horner's best, but there's a lot of good stuff in this one too!

Marcos

Love ST3. In my opinion, James Horner's finest soundtrack, and his musical cue for 'Stealing the Enterprise' is my personal favorite piece of his.

Matt Rose

No, it’s not the best movie, but Christopher Lloyd just defines what it means to be Klingon.

Texas Anla'Shok

I read a bunch of the comments prior to watching your reaction. A lot of folks were complaining about the noise from you eating your popcorn and I wanted to say... "Hey, lay off Cassie! It can't be that bad!" Then I watched... girl... you might want to change where you have your mic next time! LoL As to the reaction... you were great, as usual. I'd forgotten how mediocre this movie was though. I know I'll get hate for that comment. It's just my opinion.

Roger Hagerty

I hadn't watched this movie in 40 years until this rewatch (that I enjoyed). I like the movie. I think I like the Kirstie Alley Saatvik better. Though, this Saatvik is good too. As a kid in the 1970s, I had a model of the Enterprise and a model of a Klingon warbird both hanging from my bedroom ceiling. I suggest the latest Star Trek trilogy [Chris Pine] - slick and entertaining.

Clay F

DAMN IT, JIM!!! I’m about to start my shift at work on Thursday morning. Those of you in other time zones are awfully lucky!!

Tara

By my understanding Klingons are stronger than Humans but not as strong as Vulcans. Even so, Kirk does pretty good. He even beat a Gorn in hand to hand combat.

Joseph H Searles

I loved the reaction for sure. Can’t wait for The Voyage home. My favorite is the OG films.

djKENTO

Well there was something different about their audio settings in this video for sure, and I'm sure they will make corrections in the future. Their editor will have to do a little extra work to get this one ready for YouTube. It's all good. A Cassie Trek reaction is very special and not to be missed!

Mike LL

I can't wait to change my wi-fi password to the same as Cassie's father's password! Why the heck didn't I think of that?? Her father is so cool.

Shawn Kildal

The Next movie in my opinion, is the best TOS Star Trek movie the voyage home. That all I am going to say.

Doc Larry

I have a feeling the next movie will be Cassie's favorite. It is for a lot of fans. Outside of the loudest bag of chips I've ever heard, another great reaction Cassie! Thank you! Speaking of "the Pon Farr episode" (Amok Time) those gongs look like the same ones used in both this movie and the episode.

Shawn Kildal

Both Klingons and Vulcans are much stronger than humans. Extremely funny that the name of the mountain kept changing every time Cassie brought it up. I'd love for that to be made into a short video. I think the last attempt she made at it was Mount Sulu!

Shawn Kildal

Okay. Neat.

djKENTO

Spock's dad Sarek, along with his human mother Amanda, make an appearance in the original series S2 E10 Journey to Babel (same actors appear in both that episode and then reprise their roles in the movies). It's actually a top 5 episode in the entire series in my opinion. Get to learn a bit about Spock's youth and his relationship with his father. I wouldn't say it's a must watch before Star Trek 4, but it definitely provides some backstory. Would love for Cassie to see it beforehand but unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen.

Shawn Kildal

I found it endearing. Didn’t have to check my audio constantly and it was all the familiar sounds of someone that I feel like I know, thoroughly enjoying themselves watching “Star Trek” of all things.

Ike

You know, this reaction helped me to decide that this film has some of the best lines in all of Trek. I’ve always been moved by McCoy’s admission to Spock, all of Ambassador Sarek’s lines, and Kirk’s “… if I didn’t try the ‘cost’ would have been my soul.” Nichelle Nichols, who plays Nyota Uhura - “Oo-hoo-ra” - was a childhood inspiration to another Star Trek actress we haven’t seen yet. The Adventure Continues… and can’t wait for the next one!!

Ike

ST 4 & 6 are defintiely my favorites of the original series of movies. This one was a necessary watch to really keep the character building and for the next one as well. Another great reaction -Looking fwd to moving on in the series - stayed up til 4:30 AM to watch this one. Cassie always shows that great insight. The 1988/89 book of ST The Kobiyashi Maru tells how each crew member handled it. I really liked how Montgomery Scott handled it,... a good read if you can find a copy.

ENC SW DV Rush

Gosh! I thought the Enterprise was being eat by a space monster CRACKLE CRACKLE CHOMP SLURP CHOMP CRACKLE CRACKLE SLURP SOME MORE because I was watching with half an eye as I folded laundry. Then I realized it was the Cassie monster WOW! Great reaction! Can't wait for number four!

R Harper

Now what we need, STAT, is a reel/supercut of all the times during this video Cassie called Mount Seleya something else. 😉😄

Michael Enos

Hey buddy.... Angie's puts a tiny slit in the top seam so you can open those easier. 😉 Follow me for more food hacks..

Michael Enos

Cassie, I say this with all the kindness in the world. I appreciate you and your sister and your reactions more than I can put into words… I hate to complain… But please pour your snacks in plastic bowls. This was so loud and distracting and it’s even louder than you speaking. It’s just a lot.

djKENTO

could it have been Men in Black? there was a head on a head in that one I think?

Andrew Rose

There is a reason everyone is telling Cassie they can’t wait to see IV. Oh yes, there is a reason!

Mike LL

Holy cow! Snackgate Part II! I couldn’t even hear the first part of the movie for the sound of the snacking. Other than that, great reaction to an underrated movie!

Just Plain Bob

The Search For Spock? https://youtu.be/561ueeSipcg?si=2lSKEksrvtIHfuFG

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

I agree. I really like IV.

Roger Freeman

What a pleasant surprise, I was not expecting this before the weekend. Sure, it's not as good as The Wrath of Khan, but that set the bar so high no other Star Trek movie could match, though some came close. Still, this one has its moments and I'm especially looking forward to the "heist". Regarding the 🖖 sign, instead of keeping your thumb closed, open it wide when you spread out your hand. So, first open your thumb wide. Then bend only your middle and ring fingers to make the gap. Also, try to relax or even slightly push your index and little fingers to the opposite direction so they remain close to your middle and ring fingers.

Gábor Árki

I did like how there was a cost for bringing someone back from the dead. Kirk needed to learn sometimes there are no-win scenarios.

DAVID COSTELLO

This movie is a step down from Wrath of Khan, but it has it's moments. You are going to love Star Trek IV, Cassie.

Mark Vaderr

The story about how and why Leonard Nimoy is directing this film is even more surprising than Spock returning - but we better let Nimoy tell it. Can’t wait to watch this one!

Ike

I think that's how we all feel about III. Can't wait to watch the reaction. Cassie will love IV, I have no doubts about that.
