Merry Christmas and upcoming
Added 2023-12-27 19:47:54 +0000 UTCHey friends!! I hope you all had a wonderful and merry Christmas and all got your version of Turboman! We had to look pretty hard for the silver linings here with my twin newborn
nephews staying with us landing in the ER Christmas Eve and Ben and my youngest being SO sick. It broke my heart because she is at such a magical Christmas age, has been counting down the minutes since November then could barely stand Christmas Day. Second year in a row with a flu-ridden Christmas. The good news was there was still excited gift screams, delicious food and board games that took 3 days. My boys and I were able to put together the gift cards for the Children’s Hospital families, with the money we raised from our last LIVE. We delivered them and although we weren’t able to meet the families, I was reminded that even though I have sick kids now, I have the blessing of knowing they will get better where some families there might not be leaving for a very long time and may be leaving without theirs. That sure put things into perspective!
As for movies coming up this week, back to regular programming and catching up with our poll winners and continuing space exploration! I’m also going to post a video with a top 50 drawing and poll as soon as I look not so haggard to be in front of a camera!
Before looking forward to the new year, I think it’s always good to look back! Another year of being able to do popcorn in bed with all of you has been the biggest blessing to me and my family! Thank you thank you so much for all of your support and comments, and the sense of fun and community you bring to the channel. I am looking forward to getting to know more of you this year, to discover new worlds and series, to fall in love with more characters on screen, and to find connections through the stories movies tell with you!
Love you all, this will be our best year yet!!

That is a very nice thing to do Cassie. My daughter had leukemia when she was five, and we spent Christmas in the children's hospital. It was very touching to receive gifts from strangers when we got up on Christmas morning. I think everyone understands it's a really nice thing to do, but I can tell you personally it's quite a blessing to have some semblance of a normal holiday when you are going through a trying time.

My son ( Ben ) and his wife AND my two granddaughters (Penny and Piper..ages almost 5 and 2.5) are all sick with RSV so I have not been to see them for Christmas. Half the old farts at the Senior Center where I teach are sick so I have to consider myself very lucky. Take care of yourself and your family. You have no idea how much we all look forward to your reactions.

My mind wandered from this to George Burns, mutatis mutandis, and I'll take the opportunity to recommend The Sunshine Boys (1975). On youtube the band called The Dust Bowl Revival playing "Never Had To Go" for 89 years-young Dick Van Dyke and his wife, and also a 96-year-old Dick and his wife singing and dancing to "Everybody Loves A Lover" Dick turned 98 two weeks from yesterday. I guarantee it would be impossible to walk around depressed after watching an older Dick Van Dyke move about. He's an inspiration to so many. He's living so long because he has such a positive outlook on life.

The holidays are stressful enough as it is, but when your loved ones are down and out and can’t enjoy the magic of Christmas, the stress has to be double. I was fortunate to have both of my daughters home from college for the holidays, and was even more fortunate to be able to host 2 family gatherings this past weekend (my family on Saturday, and my wife’s family on Christmas Day). Lots of fun, lots of food, lots of games, and lots of great memories. I hope that Ben and your daughter are healthy for New Years Eve and New Years Day, and you can all bring in 2024 with a smile on your faces! P.S. - Nope, all the Christmas decorations and lights stay up through New Year’s.

Recently my mother caught COVID and was sick for a few days, fever, body aches, runny nose, and coughing! Thankfully she's doing much better today, no more fever or body aches, still slightly coughing and sniffling, but she's doing good! I'm happy to say and not to rub it in, I'm doing okay! Mine was descent enough, spent the evening after work watching my dearly beloved grandmothers favorite movie, you know it well, It's A Wonderful Life and I was balling by the end of the movie! That B&W image of you and your youngest one, not only does it make me sad knowing that she's sick, but she looks adorable with you, so besides the fact that she's sick, it's still a cute picture of you with her and it warms my heart! His heath is going downhill and my mom has Parkinson’s and isn’t doing well either. I’m so sorry your littles were sick Cassie. I hope they are better now. At least your reactions are a small fun break from all the current stress in my life. Really looking forward to ransom but boy is that gonna be a hard one for you. Tooth pulled, cellulitis, covid, several colds, plantar fascitis, feels like my knee is becoming arthritic, and a "vitreous release" I think it was called in my eye which caused me to see floaters, and wound up in hospital on christmas day, so need to get that checked and may need glasses. At least I have this channel and TBR Schmitt to keep me in good spirits.

I admit I'm not the biggest Ron Howard fan. He's by no means a great artist, but he is a very competent artisan who has made a handful of very good movies and RANSOM is one of them. Though I know it will be a very intense experience for you, I think you will enjoy seeing Rene Russo and Mel Gibson playing another married after LETHAL WEAPON. Just given the title, I'm sure you already know which character from the series is returning for WRATH OF KHAN. It is considered by many to be the best of the whole franchise and it is a terrific movie. I suspect you will enjoy it and will want to continue on with the series after it's over to see what happens next. And finally, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON is a superb film with some mind-bogglingly spectacular fight scenes and Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh and Xiyi Xhang leading the cast. Looking forward to this week. As always, keep up the good work.. and stay healthy. :-)
