Here is the full reaction to this movie.

[YT Edit] Scrooge (1970)

Comments

I'm glad you liked this film Cassie, this is my favourite Christmas film of all time and has me in tears every time I watch it without fail. He did mention it earlier in the film, but his sister Isabelle, who he loved deeply, died and that is one of the things that contributed to him ending up hating life.

A reaction to Singin' in the Rain is a must! Might be the most entertaining film of all time.

Cassie, so glad you’re starting to react to musicals. Would love to see you react to more musicals since, though this and White Christmas are excellent films, you haven’t yet seen the truly great, top tier Hollywood musicals. So I hope you’ll keep on with the genre.

Patreot

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Don, there are millions of people in the world who feel exactly the same way at this time of the year. Fortunately, it's only 87 days until the first day of spring. 🤗

Nah no stirring from me. I’m just having fun with it. But I genuinely don’t think the story of Scrooge is a good one or that it has the uplifting message people think it does. In all seriousness I’ve had some of the worst times of my life at Christmas so I don’t perceive these things in the same way others do.

Don

No, Don, as in Henry (think of the two Morgans, same thing). P.S. Your sarcasm most certainly did not go unnoticed......I'm beginning to think you like stirrin' the pot, so do I, that's one of the reasons why I'm presently banned off of Cassie's YouTube account and have been for some time. 🙄

james flack

Mr Potter? As in Harry….?

Don

@ Celeste McAlluster. You make a good point. Scrooge was also drugged until he was suggestible enough to be manipulated. How do we know if he really changed or if he was just high? For all we know the extended ending is him giving all his money away while under the influence of drugs and then he is ruined and none of the townsfolk help him.

Don

@Don,have a seat at the bar,I'll pour you a tall "Milk of human kindness"..Charles Dickens published ACC on Dec,19th 1843 the 1st printing sold out before that Christmas eve, thirteen printings over 175 years it is the best known Christmas Story after the Nativity...

Celeste McAllister

Merry Christmas, Celeste! I always look forward to reading your comments. 🙏😌

If my memory serves me right, there was a made-for-TV movie a while back, called "An American Christmas Carol" staring Henry Winkler. I also remember saying to myself, "Wow, the Fonz really can act". - Just sayin'.....😎

james flack

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

sean smith

As always this was a great reaction. I think you are right, A Christmas Carol does have a ton of movie versions. You could probably do one a year and never run out. My wife’s and my favorite is with Patrick Stewart. Merry Christmas!

Of course Scrooge ends up heading the infamous Black Briar project and becomes responsible for creating Jason Bourne. And Jacob Marley becomes a retired Jedi master living out in the deserts of Tatooine (and ends up as a ghost…again)

Ria Grix

there's Christ before Christmas --- Merry Christmas ....

mhz

Don, I would love to hear your defense of Mr. Potter and how HE was just trying to get ahead in life and how HE was so misunderstood. 😉

james flack

Cassie- you’ll recognize Scrooge as Ed (the attorney) in Erin Brockovich. The one you thought you knew who came to the door and asked for charity was Varuka Salt’s dad in Willy Wonka…. Marley… Obi Wan Kenobi and Colonel Nicholson in Bridge On The River Kwai.

Emily Coleman

Haha nope you said you agree with me. You can’t take it back.

Don

You have opened my eyes! The (((money lender))), to everyone's joy, is consigned to eternal damnation unless he goes super all in on Christ-mas! :-) (The preceding was entirely and solely a joke. Carry on.)

Happy Hanukkah

If you want to see more of the young, carefree "Ebenezer," there's always the acclaimed Tom Jones (1963). (No, not the Welsh Voice.)

Happy Hanukkah

Haha I never said anything about anyone being woke. I just don’t beleive this is a true Christmas story. I think people accept it as such but really it’s about a poor old man who life has kicked the shit out of and he’s vilified for not caring about Christmas

Don

Nah it’s not being a buzzkill. Even if it’s about discovering the true meaning of Christmas. Isn’t that ultimately tainted because in order to do that he has to be forced under threat of eternal damnation? Look at it another way. He’s viewed and dismissed by everyone as a horrible disputable person and he is. But no thought is given to what made him that way. How many of the townspeople tried to get to know him or make him feel better and show him the Christmas spirit? Not many. Maybe his clerk but they all hated him because he was the money lender. So he was just dismissed as a horrible human being and the underlying theme is that he’ll be damned for it. That doesn’t say Christmas spirit to me.

Don

Don't be such a buzzkill. It's about a man who discovers the true meaning of Christmas. The spirit of giving.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Oh, Don, those terrible, terrible WOKE people. 🙄 Bah, Humbug!

james flack

I have never heard anyone even mention this film until it appeared on the poll. Then suddenly it's everyone's favorite? Odd.

Bill W

I get a different message from this film. A man grows up poor and has many knocks in his life that he doesn’t bounce back from. Works hard for success and is left by the love of his life because she doesn’t get enough attention while he works to make something of himself. Lends people money. They sign an agreement then he is expected to let them off when they can’t pay at Christmas because they extend too much credit to their own customers. He’s then literally threatened with death and condemnation to hell because the miserable life he’s found himself in doesn’t conform to the social norm of being happy at Christmas no matter what is going on in his life. Full of fear he basically goes off and has to go overboard to PROVE he has changed and make everyone else’s life better. This is horrible.

Don

I haven't seen this version..I thought this would be the version with George C. Scott. I have to say, while my favorite is still with Alistar Sim, this one was pretty good! Thank you for sharing, Cassie!

Chris Davis

I quite agree, Bill Murray is a very funny man who makes me Laugh Out Loud. This makes his performance in this dramatic role even more impressive!!1!

Happy Hanukkah

Bill murray?? Lol

ElmSt Reactions

They brought Bill Murray back for a sequel?! My Christmas keeps getting better! 😂

Happy Hanukkah

0:05 "And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time..." :-/ 21:00 Now now, young lady, don't you roll your eyes! :-) 38:55 As I was saying, Bob Cratchit, I decided that the salary we agreed on was inappropriate.

Happy Hanukkah

Cassie, it is your Christmas spirit that helped bring life to this movie that I otherwise would not watch, and no I’m not a Christmas humbug I just prefer other versions of this classic. It was your warmth and empathy that made this movie worth revisiting it all. Thank you and merry Christmas.

Jed Logan

This is an earlier version. The Version with Bill Muray (1988) is called Scrooged.

Kristin D

Wow! What a performance by an absolutely unrecognizable Bill Murray! And who knew he was able to sing so?! Thank you very very very much!

Happy Hanukkah

I hope you will excuse me Cassie🌹 from watching the yt till morning,I've watched the full reaction five times since you dropped it,what can I say..I love this movie!🎄🎅🎁
