Upcoming...

SIX more sleeps everyone! How ready do we feel? I feel very unready but we'll get there...I think! Thanks for all the birthday wishes last week, it was great with my brother visiting, I got to sleep in and get a pedicure with Carly and took my "mom day off" yesterday and tried to finish my Christmas shopping and run all the errands I have been putting off for 6 months! We do seem to be bouncing sicknesses from one another, but hopefully it's almost over (narrator's voice "but it was actually just beginning")

This week we have "The Shop Around the Corner" which can I just say Jimmy Stewart never looked better than in this (this cover art did him dirty) and Edward Scissorhands? We shall seeee.....

Tomorrow is the day we get to bring the donations from the LIVE to the Children's hospital. Still waiting on word if we can record and if I'm able to bring our kids. Either way, I think it will be very special and I'll share as much as I can with you.

I don't think I will be able to swing a BUTTER LIVE this month, December is just crazy, but I also want to spend as much time with the kids as I can-we still haven't done gingerbread houses, or drive around to look at the lights or shopping our angel tree families etc. I will make it up to you in the coming months!

Lastly, just want to wish you all the merriest of Christmas! I am sending you all the love and Christmas cheer and coziness and LOVE!

Goodest of Tidings,

Cassie

uhhhh, shop around the corner when???

Lance Li

FYI the classic "The Shop Around the Corner" inspired the the rom-com "You've Got Mail" (Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan). Just a thought but it would be cool to show the classics first, then the modern remakes of films.

Paul Rich

Great suggestions. Jimmy Stewart and Katherine Hepburn both won Oscars for The Philadelphia Story.

Paul Rich

When I worked at MGM Home Video we threw commemorative parties for the aging stars. I got Gene Kelly and Donald O'conners autographs as well as Cyd Charisse. Agree Holiday Inn is better and thought Danny Kaye was just fine for not being a pro dancer which made me appreciate his performance even more for the effort and his comedic touch. You are definitely a film historian. If we could post pics here I would show one such celebration at. Chasens restaurant.

Paul Rich

Cassie, for next October you have the perfect option for a not at all scary but Halloween themed film in Jimmy Stewart’s “Bell, Book and Candle.” It’s about a romance between a witch and a mortal man. Really enjoyable movie. Aside from that, there are so many great Jimmy Stewart films you would love: “Mr Smith Goes To Washington” “The Philadelphia Story” “Harvey” “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (the 1956 version). Also, I second the recommendation for “The Music Man.” That would be a great musical for you to react to.

Patreot

My opinion is that Holiday Inn is much better than White Christmas. Before he broke his leg Donald O'Conner was supposed to be dancing in White Christmas. Danny Kaye is a good entertainer, but he's not a professional dancer. And I am sure most in the PIB community know that Gene Kelly was supposed to be in Easter Parade, before he broke his leg, and that forced Fred Astaire out of retirement.

John Liebling

I have been on a break lately but I’d love to see her watch a lot more classics

AC5555

Notorious, Penny Serenade

AC5555

Glad you’re getting back into some classic Hollywood/Jimmy Stewart films again Cassie! Hope to see more again since it’s been a while and is part of the reason I love your channel so much!! ❤️❤️

AC5555

Cassie I am glad you enjoyed your first Scrooge musical. I promise the others I listed above are much much better. Singing, dancing, its all great. Even if some of the dancers are dubbed. Some are not. Many lyrics are very inventive. If you want to start off with Singing in the Rain...you'll see a very young Debbie Reynolds. She's Leia's mom. Carrie Fischer...when Carrie was in the 1977 Star Wars movie she was about the same age as her mom, for the 1952 Singing in the Rain.

John Liebling

Happy belated Birthday fellow Sagittarius, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours, Cassie!

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

People say they want more classics on this channel, and classic horror might actually do ok on YT, unlike other classic genres.

Richard Maurer

As someone who waits impatiently for October every year, yes we must.

Richard Maurer

Ditto... these should not be missed.. true classics!

Andrew Rose

Speaking of Sports movies, may I suggest DRAFT DAY, for the NFL draft, April 25–27 of 2024. There is a LOVE STORY in it! Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner! it's 5 months away, but put it on the calendar!

Super Powered Design (Jim)

I heartily second this message.

Matthew Folz

"The Wells Fargo wagon is a comin' down the sthreet..."

Richard Rolen

I am certain she did not.

John Liebling

Cassie and Carly know the name Ron Howard because they've reacted to Backdraft and Cinderella Man. Do they know Ron Howard was an actor for a long time before he started to direct. I think they'd get a big kick out of watching the Music Man and watching a very young Ron Howard.

John Liebling

Cassie actually caught a glimpse of Astaire & Rogers during her reaction to The Green Mile and probably didn't know it.

Shawn Kildal

Cassie, you and Carly love sports movies so please consider watching The Hustler (1961, Paul Newman) and its sequel The Color of Money (1986, Newman AND Cruise!!) I think you will love both!

JM63

I wish you Love Love Love and some time to rest your beautiful soul.

Clifton Owens

Aww. Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas. (Seems like us capricorns always get shorted on our Birthdays, glad you had a good one. )

Uncle Phoenix

Cassie has opened herself up to trying more scary movies. I'd like to see her dive into classic movies from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. And she has reacted to Jimmy Stewart which is great but there are so many more. Cary Grant, Gregroy Peck to name just two. And of course, because obviously I am a big fan of the talented Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly...I'd love to see both Cassie and Carly experience musicals. They have what both prefer in movies, romance and happy endings. And of course, there is that incredible talent, but not just their talent the talent of the many women they danced with. Musicals can be an acquired taste, but I feel Cassie and Carly would enjoy the overall wholesomeness.

John Liebling

Cary Grant made a lot of great movies such as Father Goose, Bringing up Baby, My Girl Friday, and the Philadelphia Story. -Father Goose is definitely one of my all time favorite movies, it had it all - adventure, romance, comedy, and Leslie Caron.

Neetka Abru

I appreciate movie fans of all types... but since I already sit PiB out the most of every October... must we?

Terry Yelmene

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful, happy and joyous holiday season.

ContrabandDonut

@ R Harper - she does the same schedule every October, so I doubt that has much to do with it. That being said I'd think if Cassie needs some time off she should take it. Everyone deserves a break now and then.

Richard Maurer

It is very interesting that in the last livestream package opening someone sent her a black and white photo of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers from Swing Time to Cassie and she asked, "Who are these people?" 😂 Would love to have Cassie watch a few of the great Astaire/Rogers RKO musicals.

Mike LL

Enjoy your time with the family! Cya next year. 🥳

Roger Hagerty

Edward Scissorhands, you're lucky to be watching it for the first time, I still remember the first time I watched it🤩. it's a great movie. Johnny Depp/Winona Ryder, the duet is magical with Danny Elfman's music, a masterpiece. I hope you enjoy it!

Grégory Gautier

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas Cassie. Also, happy belated 29th birthday. ; ) I am a big Jimmy Stewart fan so I will be looking forward to seeing Shop Around the Corner. Love your channel. Love what you do with it. God Bless you and your family.

James Sweeney

Happy Xmas to you and your family, Cassie! I saw its remake, You've Got Mail before I saw The Shop Around the Corner on TMC. I just love the feel of classic black and white films. Edward Scissorhands is a great fantasy film. Tim Burton's kinda take on Mary Shelley's book.

G

I'm once again asking you for a Classic Horror poll. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Richard Maurer

Of course, hands down, no comparison, the best ever dance routine on film came from the movie "Stormy Weather" Danced to perfection by the extremely talented Nicholas Brothers.

John Liebling

Happy belated birthday! And no worries about the butter tier- if you haven't even done gingerbread houses yet you're seriously behind.

My_Cousin_Mose

From the 1940s and 1950s Gene Kelly movies: Kelly's top two are 1. Singing In the Rain and 2. An American In Paris. "For Me And My Gal" his first "Cover Girl" "Anchors Aweigh" "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" "Summer Stock" "Its Always Fair Weather"

John Liebling

Great Fred Astaire movies from the 1950s and 1960s... He had a hell of a long career, considering he was born in 1899: "Funny Face" Royal Wedding" "Band Wagon" "Silk Stockings" "Daddy Long Legs" "Finian's Rainbow"

John Liebling

Great Fred Astaire movies from the 1940s: "You Never Looked Lovelier" "Easter Parade" "Broadway Melody of 1940" "Blue Skies" "The Barkley's of Broadway"

John Liebling

Great Fred Astaire movies from the 1930s: "Swing Time" "Top Hat" "Shall We Dance" "Follow the Fleet"

John Liebling

White Christmas is a good movie. The song was originating 12 years earlier in Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Astaire's dancing is incredible. The dancer in White Christmas is Vera-Ellen...she's very talented. Other movies she really shows off her talent is "On The Town" with Gene Kelly "Three Little Words" with Fred Astaire "The Belle of New York" again with Fred Astaire.

John Liebling

Yes, Steven M., as Tinkerbell said above, the story was remade in 1949 as a musical, In The Good Old Summertime with Judy Garland and Van Johnson.

Mike LL

My bad, a tarde Happy Birthday to you, Cassie and wishing you & yours a Very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year. 🎅🌟

Steven M.

Wasn't there a movie in between Shop Around the Corner & You've Got Mail?

Larry Darrell

Yes. It is definitely weird.

Rick Williams

Happy Birthday and a merry Christmas to you and your family.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Have you ever seen Last Christmas

Bryan Lennicx

Happy belated Birthday Cassie & Happy Holidays to you and your family. December is no time to fool around, but I am glad you bringing us joy with your reactions.

FranciscoGios

Thanks! I’m glad she’s seen it.

Kristin D

You're gonna dig Edward Scissorhands I think, though your track record with Burton is shaky. I'd love to watch Pee Wee's Big Adventure with you. A proper childhood favorite, that is

Godzilla Jones

AND White Christmas finally coming to YouTube! Cassie you are the very best!

Mike LL

Oh she has already seen that years ago, before the channel. She will love the original!

Mike LL

Oh Thank You so very much for the Shop Around the Corner watch! You will love the movie! Merry Merry Christmas!!

Mike LL

Agree with Mike H since the insane October watches you seem on the edge of exhaustion the last two months have been grueling on you. You deserve a holiday. Take a week off or two. Your true patrons won't have a problem with that at all. Merry Christmas to everyone in your home! Safety

R Harper

@Clay, she's watching Edward Scissorhands because it won the poll

Tara

Edward Scissorhands? No Butter live? The Shop Around the Corner? No fun from PIB this Christmas.

Rick Williams

You are going to love Shop Around the Corner. Please don't wait long to watch You've Got Mail, which is the modern remake. There is one scene in there that recreated. Might feel a little dated since texting wasn't a thing, but it helps with the drama and humor of the situation with it being through email.

Kristin D

You might have to save this for next year however, I know how much you like Denzel, Washington. My recommendation would be to watch The bishops wife, and then watch The preachers wife with Denzel Washington is the remake of The bishops Wife. Maybe there’s time to watch it this holiday season before the New year.

Doc Larry

Yeah Cass, I missed the last live package opening and I still have something to send you. Hope you do a live package opening in January.

Todzilla

Happy Holidays to you and yours, Kaiielle, despite everything. 🙏😔

james flack

Merry Christmas to you Cassie and family. God bless.

Joshua Stormont

Disappointing that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang lost to Edward Scissorhands, but I guess this will give Cassie an opportunity to watch a weird movie and expand her horizons lol.

Johnny

Have a Merry Christmas! Quick little fun fact about Edward Scissorhands, his design is based on drawings Tim Burton made as far back as high school.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

9 To 5 could give Cassie an extra day off 😊

Steve Holton

even better!

Matt Rose

Cassie, you are such a breath of fresh air! Your posts never fail to make me smile. I have been holding off on my annual screeening of Shop Around the Corner to watch it with you. I hope you and your family have a beautiful and joyful Christmas!

Kat Farlowe

Hope you have a good Xmas! Looking forward to seeing what you'll watch the rest of this year and next year!

sarCC

Grueling schedule?

Bill W

Happy belated birthday, fellow Sagittarius! ♐️ 😁 I, too, have a December birthday. Not too far from Christmas but not too close that they blend together.

Zane From Canada

@Matt How about Five Easy Pieces instead?

Bill W

Same deal with Shop Around The Corner. Christmas doesn't come into play until after everything is said and done.

Bill W

I'm thinking your gonna love my main man "Edward Scissorhands".... but I've been wrong before. Have Fun!!

Kevin Kuma

Pictures would be nice from the donation - but I personally wouldn’t film it. Donating it, a prayer with patients and parents, and walking away is what I have done in the past. It would be great to see or hear about smile(s) either way. (Doubtful Butter Patrons have any time to watch a live this month also). I’ve have never seen either of these movies, so excited about that! I am overdue for Edward Scissorhands and feel sort of ashamed about it. And Jimmy Stewart during the Holiday Season is an automatic thumbs up. So, this is good! Happy Holidays Everybody!

Ike

Happy Birthday (belated)! Merry Christmas! And God bless!

Above Average Dave

FAST 5, THE SIXTH SENSE, 9.5 WEEKS, 10 (with Dudley Moore and Bo Derek), OCEAN'S 11.

Matt Rose

Tara, no need to vote. She said Edward Scissorhands this week on Patreon. Looking forward to it. Moving story. Burton visuals. Agree that Depp is brilliant.

Clay F

I really love Edward Scissorhands, but I've never thought of it as a Christmas movie, even though the ending takes place during Christmas. I'll be curious to get your read on it and see if you feel like it's a Christmas movie or not. Either way, it's an excellent film.

Stranger2Reality

Merry Christmas to you and the fam! Definitely take that time with your kiddos to do those things, that sounds like so much fun! Thank you for everything you do here. Have the best time at the Children's Hospital - this community is making such a great impact.

kaiielle

Beginning of an idea for next Christmas- The Twelve Days of Christmas. Each month record, but don't release, a video related to the twelve days, then Dec 25th through Jan 5th (or 26 through 6), release one movie a day and take two weeks off. I was thinking about movies based on the numbers- The One, Two Mules for Sister Sara, Three Musketeers, Four Musketeers, (something with 5), (something with 6), Seven Year Itch, Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag, 9, 10, (something with 11), Twelfth Night (or polls or the Popcorn app, whatever to get the movies). There might be movies to cover the objects, but I haven't thought about it that much.

Mike Lemon

Merry Christmas Cassie! I hope you get to do all the fun things with your kids that you're planning. This Christmas has been tough for our family. We lost my grandma in March so this will be our first Christmas without her. We lost my grandpa in March of 2020. The holidays always revolved around my grandparents. We would all pile into cars and go to there house for every holiday. December is also my grandma's birthday (15th) & there wedding anniversary (8th). Holidays will never be the same so we're all trying to figure out what our new holiday reality is now. On top of that there have been many doctors appointments for my mom. The only holiday related anything I've watched this year has been with you so, thank you for bringing a little holiday spirit to a family who desperately needed it this year. Hope you have a fantastic Christmas making wonderful memories with loved ones.

Katie Jackson

Two good movies. I think you will like EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. I know you will love SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. Merry Christmas. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

You're gonna cry, cry, cry in Edward Scissorhands, but it's a good cry. Merry Christmas to you and your family. ❤️❤️ Don't forget to watch The Fisher King 😁

Stevan Carter

Oh, wonderful! Two movies I love! And! On top of that, my girlfriend at the time had a small speaking part in Edward Scissorhands and since she didn't drive at the time I drove her to and from set so I got to see a little bit of the goings-on.

Robert Jewell

Happy belated birthday, Cassie! Don't forget that you are, ultimately, a self-employed creator. You want to take a few weeks for the family then ABSOLUTELY do it. Especially now while they're little. You keep up a pretty grueling schedule and should take breaks so you don't burn out. Enjoy your holiday celebrations with the family! Merry Christmas to the whole bucket of Popcorn!

Mike H

I didn't know, but now I do...Happy belated birthday.

John Liebling

I still think Scrooge was a botched election, with people confusing it for something else. Anyways, I hope Cassie enjoyed it.

Bill W

Following are good movies with the always cute Ashley Judd: "Double Jeopardy" with Tommy Lee Jones. "De-Lovely" with Kevin Klein. "High Crimes" with Morgan Freeman. "Some One Like You" with Hugh Jackman.

John Liebling

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Cassie. It's been quite an eventful year, so I hope you take all the time you want with your loved ones this next week or two as you celebrate the holidays together. May they be merry and bright!

Dave

So glad you are watching Shop Around the Corner-I think you will really love it. In addition to Jimmy Stewart, it stars the Wizard of Oz- Frank Morgan! Once you have watched it, you should watch the most well known remakes- In the Good Old Summer time (starring Judy Garland and Van Johnson) and hopefully a rewatch for you-You’ve Got Mail!

Tinkerbell

I’d love to see Carly join you for Edward Scissorhands. It’s a great movie for you to see together

Justtired

Happy belated Birthday, Cassie

Eddie Perkins

Didn’t know it was your birthday last week. Happy belated birthday Cassie! I hope you and your family a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for the coming year!

Robert da Spruce

Merry Christmas Cassie.

James UK

Any chance to vote for Cassie to watch Edward Scissorhands. Johnny Depp is brilliant!!

Tara

Merry merry Christmas Cassie, Carly, Ben, and children - have the best time possible and enjoy your time together! Every Christmas is last Christmas.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

For you and the family, may your days be merry and bright, an may all your shoveling be light.

Bert Towle

I like Edward Scissorhands.

Clay F

A very Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. Is the tree strung with lots of popcorn garland? Just keeping it on brand.

Jason Fulbright

Happy belated Birthday Cassie. And have a wonderful Christmas 🎄

Alex Gorell

Hope you can fit in KISS KISS BANG BANG. If you feel the need for a good laugh, it'll definitely fit the bill.
