I had a good time with this one! Sure, it was loaded with holiday cliches and was a bit corny, but it was also so funny! Arnold was silly, but he has a certain charm about him in this type of role (i.e. Kindergarten Cop). What about you guys, was there ever a holiday gift that you wanted so badly as a kid? What was it and did you manage to get one?? Hope you enjoy the reaction!

Tedy Ruxpin was a toy in the 80s just like Turbo man, they sold out fast. lines around corners for this toy. This bear could talk to you, eyes moved, it was one of a kind in that time period. insane!

Haha yes I’m sure but I don’t remember EBay really getting going until the late 90s as a thing but it is funny how we watch movies with today’s conveniences at the forefronts of our mind and the. We are like oh right nobody had cell phones in the 80s even though they did exist haha but just not at the level they do today 😜

Well there was. Ebay itself is actually a year older than this movie in fact! But it was certainly primitive, and it always takes pop culture a while to catch up on tech stuff anyway.

I like how Cassie is like maybe he has a neighbor trying to sell it on EBAY and I’m like there wasn’t even a functioning internet back then, lol.
I actually worked at FAO in New York in the late 90s during the Furbypocalypse and I was able to get one for my niece and be a total hero, huzzah me! Lol

Hey Cassie, so I told you the story about the little kitchenette I got one year. That was a present I really wanted when I was about 6 years old. I also got a real looking baby doll with a bunch of accessories. My cousin who lived next door and was the same age got one too. We were very close and took our dolls everywhere with us. When I was about 14 my aunt was having a really hard time financially. She had been laid off and wasn't sure she could afford Christmas that year for her 2 daughters. They where 4 and 6. Me and my cousin who still had all our doll stuff safely packed away, gave everything to my aunt to give to her girls from Santa Claus. I'll never forget the look of my aunts face or the smiles from my little cousins when they came to Christmas dinner. One of my most memorable Christmases.

Been a long while since I have seen this. Phil Hartman, gone to soon, he was always great. And, everyone in the parade was okay that Turbo Man gave the prize to his own kid? Probably soften by Jamie giving it away immediately, but it didn't raise any flags.
Also, made me laugh and cheer, hearing the pronunciation of the letter "Zed" in a North American accent (when the alphabet was recited in reverse). I don't get to hear that very often. I guess you can take Cassie out of Canada, but can't take Canada out of Cassie!

Nice I’d definitely have to agree it was definitely my favourite and the Falcon been my favourite sci-fi ship since as it’s just so iconic.

Con man Santa is played by Jim Belushi - who also played Bonnie Hunt's husband in Return To Me. This is a reunion with him and Schwarzenegger. They starred together in an action movie called Red Heat, 8 years earlier (in 1988). I think Schwarzenegger's best comedy is Twins with Danny DeVito (currently #23 on your requests list - so I'm sure you will see it sooner or later!)

The Tickle Me Elmo toy. I was 16, first job at kmart. That thing was sold out everywhere. People kept asking me if we had any in the back, they were real salty about it when I said no, like I was lying about it. Like Ladies and Gentleman 20 years older than me roasting me because they couldn't get. That was the same year this movie came out incidentally.

Haven't seen this is so long so it was a nice trip down memory lane. Reminds me I haven't done my Christmas shopping yet. Was surprised Cassie didn't recognised the little boy from Star Wars though. I hope she goes back and watches the end credits scene. To be fair the only reason I remembered there was one is because of the skip credits button on Disney+.
P.s. Seeing the actor who played Ted (Phil Hartman) makes me want to rewatch another great movie he was in, Sgt. Bilko (1996), also starring Steve Martin. Love that movie.

@Wesley- The Eiffel Tower (10307) has 10,000 pieces, the Titanic (10294) has 9,000 and if you don't have them try out Voltron (21311) with 2300 pieces and Optimus Prime (10302) with 1500 parts, both fun builds. Oh and the Apollo 11 rocket (92176) with 1969 pieces

Again, this kid is exactly like the kid in The Santa Clause. Hates his dad in the fact he's hardly home and hardly does things with him. As soon as they become something magical, Santa Claus and Turbo Man, the kids like them. But they like their dad superficially, right? Not as their dad.

Watch this every year as it just a stupid fun film. I’m sure they weren’t hard to get but I always wanted the Millennium Falcon, I know my parents didn’t have much money back then so I didn’t have any of the larger ships/play sets. But I finally got one in 1983 and it’s still in pretty good condition in the loft with the rest of my Star Wars toys. Hopefully if I get a bigger house so I can have a room to make into a office and I’ll get them all in a display cabinet.

Gosh yes, Cabbage Patch Doll for my daughter. It was a hot item. Hard to find but we got one the day before Christmas. She's a grown woman now with her own children and still has that Cabbage Patch Doll sitting on a shelf in her room above her bed

I guess I watch this movie for the presence of the great 1960's TV action star, Robert Conrad, the motorcycle cop in this movie.
One Christmas as a kid I was convinced I was not going to get the portable cassette tape recorder I wanted so much because it was not under the tree on Christmas Eve. Of course it was there the next morning, making my Christmas Day and saving me from a great disappointment. I'll never forget the devastation my child self felt on that Christmas Eve, lol.

I'm so glad you liked this! I love how silly this movie gets. I also love how surprisingly wholesome the ending is. I think the casting of Arnold is a big part of what makes this movie so charming and silly in the best way. As soon he started using the jetpack I thought "I'll bet Cassie didn't expect the movie to do this when she sat down to watch it" lol
I've loved this movie since I was a kid. As far as toys that I desperately wanted for Christmas, for me one was, believe it or not, a Turbo Man action figure! After this movie came out they started selling those for a while. I was such a big fan of the movie that I really wanted one for Christmas and I got it!

The gift that I wanted so bad as a kid was a Super NES. So many of my friends had one and I was the only one on my street who didn't have one.
Christmas morning 1994 there's one final large present under the tree with my name on it. I tear off the wrapping paper and there it is. An SNES with Donkey Kong and Super Mario World. I had a total "YES!" moment like Arnie has in the movie holding the Turbo Man. 😃😂

Whatever happened to Sinbad? I remember him from his 90s stand up comedy and “Coneheads.“ He’s hilarious. One of the few comedians that I actually found funny. I’ve seen this movie a few times as a kid and it’s still so much fun. My favorite toy that I could never find at the stores was Rainbow Brite & Starlite. They always seemed to be sold out with only Murky & Lurky on the shelves.

It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, I remember seeing this in the theater with my father, it was fun! I'm sure you probably recognize the young child actor playing his son, that is none other than Jake Loyd, whom you might recognize as young Anakin Skywalker in STAR WARS Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace! He does not deserve so much hate for that role, I thought he did a decent enough job! Of course, this was the first movie I ever saw him in, so maybe I just have a bit of a soft spot lol!
To answer your question, I don't really recall a lot in terms of wanting a certain toy for Christmas that I just wanted so badly with eagerness! The only one that I can think of however, was this one LEGO Knights Castle set back in the 90's, the biggest castle set they had on the market at the time, I felt like I just had to get it! All my life I've always loved LEGOS, I've always loved challenging myself at building the biggest LEGO set I could ever get! I hope one day to try and beat a record for building the infamous LEGO Millennium Falcon set that has over 7,000 pieces! That would be one heck of a challenge that I would be proud at accomplishing lol!
I might watch this later! Hope you have a happy Monday, I left you a nice and informative comment on your THE MUMMY RETURNS full-length, hope you enjoyed reading it, sorry for it being so long of a comment again lol! Love and support always🥰🤗😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

I've been waiting for this! It's a stupid movie, but it's stupid fun!
PUT THE COOKIE DOWN!
BTW, there's an end credits scene you missed!
Also, Arnold's wife in this is Tom Hank's real wife, if you didn't happen to already know.
For me TurboMan was very much like Power Rangers toys. I wanted a Megazord SOOO bad one year, and this came out just a year or 2 after that.
