Upcoming!

Hey all!

How are you? How was your weekend? Yesterday, within an hour of each other, Ben and I were invaded by what I imagined to be a ghost from ghostbusters.....a mean one. We were so sick, so fast and so miserable! We both could.not.move.  It should NOT be allowed for both parents to get sick at the same time. Our poor kids. Our oldest had to make dinner for all of them, bless his heart because we could not stand up. It was a terrible 24 hours. The demons have left but we are still recovering. We are praying our kids don't get it with Thanksgiving and family visiting being two days away!

This week we have the poor, keep-being-pushed DDA finally, the YT MEMBER HEIST poll winner. I'm afraid I might have influenced that poll ("did I do that?" Urkel voice) I said what my vote was and threw it on the poll even though it didn't win its previous poll, and then it won! I think I'll watch the other two top ones too though (A Fish Called Wanda and Sneakers) HEIST WEEK? AND STAR TREK (finger sign thingy) I am not exactly sure what to expect of the TV show episodes (I'm watching 2 or 3)  but going in with a mind as open as the galaxy!

We also have a Martial Arts Poll going up today, watch for it! This poll was so hard for me to make, because I know NOTHING about this genre, but got all of them from your comments and suggestions.

Don't forget the Butter Babes LIVE will be 11/28!

Well I hope the Americans in here have a wonderful T-Gives this week, I am unexpectedly-ish hosting and am a bit overwhelmed but we'll pull it together I think!

I am thankful for this amazing community, today and every day. It is not lost on me the privilege that it is to have this space and know all of you through this crazy thing! LOVE you!

Cassie

I should have explained. Sarek is Spok's dad. Interesting he plays the Romulan commander in Balance of Terror...Romulans are the enemies. And the actors name is Mark Lenard. He reprises his role as an old man in Next Generation's Sarek. TNG started 18 years after the original series ended. DeForest Kelly played McCoy and that actor makes a cameo on the 1987 TNG pilot as a 137 year old McCoy. If Shatner makes it to next March he'll be 93. Only Walter Koenig and George Takie are still alive...they are in their middle to late 80s.

John Liebling

Walter and Jack were lifelong best friends, and they were also performing together in a number of excellent movies such as: The Fortune Cookie, Front Page and the Odd Couple

John Liebling

Star Trek finger sign thingy... Comes from Leonard Nimoy's childhood memory growing up in Boston. His parents were immigrants from a village in the Ukraine. Leonard grew up as an Orthodox Jew. The V shaped gesture comes from the Rabbi's blessing. The V shape is the Hebrew letter Shin...it is the first letter in many Hebrew words such as Shaddai - the name of God or Shalom the word for Hello, goodbye and Peace. Leonard wanted a special greeting for Vulcans. He drew upon a childhood memory. His father told him to close his eyes, but he peeked and watched the Rabbi give the blessing and it inspired him decades later.

John Liebling

And please consider the following Voyager episodes for a good Cassie reaction... First: Drone Second: Scorpion Part 2 Third: Year of Hell parts 1 and 2 Fourth: Endgame pats 1 and 2.

John Liebling

And Cassie of you're going to look at Star Trek The Next Generation, the following episodes will bring a good reaction. First: The Best of Both Worlds Second: Measure of a man Third: DejaQ Fourth: Sarek Fifth: Yesterdays Enterprise.

John Liebling

As someone who watched all the original Star Trek episodes when he was a boy of 8, in 1966...Please don't watch Tribbles. Its a terrible episode. I'll give you a short list of episodes which are much better. First: City On The Edge of Forever Second: Amok Time Third: Space Seed...especially if you plan on watching the rebooted second movie from JJ Abrams, with Chris Pine. Fourth: Where No Man Has gone Before - the 1965 Pilot. Fifth: Balance of Terror Sixth: Doomsday Machine Seventh: The Enemy Within.

John Liebling

Ah yes, Lucille Ball (Desilu productions) saved Star Trek from being dropped because she liked the way it saw the future, and advanced some roles for women.

Ronald Carpenter

So very sorry you are/were sick. We never want that for you or your friends and family. One of your fans suggested it might be something picked up on your vacation. Let's hope it was just a one time fluke wherever it came from.

Ronald Carpenter

Yes it is! And years after the commercials, Ricardo Montalban admitted there was no such material, but the advertisers felt it sounded appealing.

Ronald Carpenter

City on the Edge yes. Space Seed of course. Corbomite right on. What about Doomsday Machine?

Ronald Carpenter

"It did happen everything. The pilgrims slaughtered men women and children." No. It didn't happen. There isn't a single piece of evidence to even suggest it. Generations after The First Thanksgiving, maybe, but not that first generation. "I took Native American Cultures in college. " Get your money back. "Everything Hitler did he learned from the United States treatment of the Native Americans. " And Margaret Sanger, don't forget her. But that period you are talking about was almost two centuries after the Pilgrims. "It all leads back to the lies about the first Thanksgiving." The fake history you are spouting? "I have shown articles, documentaries and the view from Native Americans." That all dealt with times starting **50 YEARS AFTER** The First Thanksgiving. That is like saying the Statue of Liberty needs torn down because WW2 happened. "The slaughter of the Native Americans is fact." True but many, many years after The First Thanksgiving. "You can't dispute facts. " And you can't make them up. There was no genocide from the Pilgrims, there was no slaughter. They and the Indians got along.

Mike Lemon

It did happen everything. The pilgrims slaughtered men women and children. I took Native American Cultures in college. Everything Hitler did he learned from the United States treatment of the Native Americans. It all leads back to the lies about the first Thanksgiving. I have shown articles, documentaries and the view from Native Americans. The slaughter of the Native Americans is fact. You can't dispute facts. So you can believe whatever you want. I won't respond to you anymore. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Genocide by the Pilgrims wasn't shown, because it never happened. Simple, historic fact. That is why all the articles linked talked about something at least 50 years after The First Thanksgiving.

Mike Lemon

I was showing you the pilgrims did commit genocide on the native Americans. https://youtu.be/K7jLeBWMA0U?si=sjxmyujb109hd9H9

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

First link- has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, and judging from the Wikipedia description uses the Howard Zinn false history of Columbus and other "critical theory" for the other topics. Second link- Written by a known flaming racist. Any point he may have is drowned out by his hatred. "Just because you ignore certain types of history doesn't mean it didn't happen." And because something happens 50 years in the future (Prince Phillip's War), it doesn't make the first event (The First Thanksgiving) a bad thing, or have "horrible roots."

Mike Lemon

I invite you to watch Exterminate All The Brutes a HBO documentary https://youtu.be/G0VdBPkHQow?si=YVA2tMyjFvKFLYNe Then there is the new Netflix documentary Stamped From The Beginning https://youtu.be/HMYLFQbyIu4?si=kSQwPUUIaWB48ltg Netflix also has the documentary 13th. Just because you ignore certain types of history doesn't mean it didn't happen. However Thanksgiving is about bringing families together. To give thanks for what we have which is a mindfulness practice. So that is a reason to celebrate.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

First link is about 1782. Second link (behind a paywall) is about King Phillip's war (after agreeing with me about The First Thanksgiving), then goes off about post 1970 Indians. I hate to tell you, but you have been lied to all these years. Hopefully you have learned something today. Happy Thanksgiving- gobble, gobble, gobble.

Mike Lemon

You want more ok the 1619 project has been denounced by conservative historians in otherwords historians with an agenda. https://www.penncapital-star.com/commentary/a-reminder-for-your-holiday-table-thanksgiving-celebrates-a-racist-genocide-michael-coard/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2022/11/19/thanksgiving-native-americans/

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Neither of those is about "the first Thanksgiving". The first link is about King Phillip's War in 1675, 50 years after "Thanksgiving" (not 70ish like in my first reply). The second link is from the 1619 Project, which has been roundly denounced by actual historians as being a load of meadow muffins, and spends a total of two sentences- TWO - on Thanksgiving. Those two sentences only tell the date. Two minute Thanksgiving- Early 1600s, fur traders and fishermen come to the New World (around present Maine-ish), *unknowingly* bringing disease killing 80-90 percent of the regions Indians (Wampanoag). Early winter 1620, the Pilgrims arrive finding empty land and start building their colony. Half of them die that first winter, leaving 4 husbands and wives, 1 woman, 25 under 16, and the rest of the 52 are men. The Indians come in the spring (vastly outnumbering the Pilgrims) to form an alliance with the Pilgrims so they can bolster their numbers to protect from the Indians to the south who weren't ravaged by disease. Squanto translates, a treaty is made, and the Indian women teach the Pilgrims how to farm. Indians come back in the fall, reaffirm the treaty, big feast, everyone's happy. The problems come in the generations *after* the settler generation, not during Thanksgiving.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

The Pilgrims (of Thanksgiving) didn't "genocide" anybody.

Mike Lemon

Thanksgiving is a way to cover up the genocide of the Native Americans by the Pilgrims. That's the dark roots I was talking about.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

"Although I think American Thanksgiving has horrible roots." ??? Because of people working together? Or because of the war about 70 years later?

Mike Lemon

Really looking forward to the "Inside Man" reaction!

Bert Towle

Good lord, When We Were Kings. What alternate universe does that win a poll? Such a great doc, though.

ContrabandDonut

What I hate about your comment is you're absolutely correct, but I have to say Tribbles is such a dumb episode. Its almost funny, and light and perfect for Carly and Cassie who are getting their feet wet. But its so dumb.

ContrabandDonut

I feel it necessary to mention Desilu/Lucille Ball thing, but I'm not because I think I would have to explain Lucille Ball first and that would make me sad.

ContrabandDonut

Are these recommendations from your dad's dad?

Jeffery Parks

She's seen Outbreak. She mentioned seeing Patrick Dempsey in it.

Shawn Kildal

Original Star Trek episode: THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES MUST be one of them. Yes, I know I was yelling. It is the funniest and still gives you the flavor of Star Trek.

Timothy Williams

As a lifetime Trekker, may I suggest some worthy Star Trek episodes: “The Corbomite Manuever” was the first produced episode (after the two pilot episodes — skip those) and is the ideal introduction to the Kirk, Spock & McCoy characters and the overall themes of the series. Highly recommend you start there. Also, “Space Seed” introduces a major villain who shows up again in the movies. And “The Trouble with Tribbles” is a classic episode with a lighter, comedic tone. Finally, “City on the Edge of Forever” is often rated as the very best episode by Star Trek fans. I’m looking forward to your reactions! Live long and prosper!

Silver Machine

Yep! And it looks like she's doing it right! My only concern is where is she getting the key episodes from?🤣 We've seen what people thought her first western should be!😅

Todzilla

Agreed.

Richard Maurer

I was looking for your name specifically after she mentioned “Star Trek.” lol. It’s happening, ‘zilla! It’s happening!

Ike

Riker grew the beard in two, I would not skip 1 and 2 just watch select episodes because they are needed for plot purposes later on, plus there are a few in season 2 that are genuinely great.

John Rose

Just talking about watching a very few select TV episodes to acquaint her with the original characters. Then she would understand the relationships in the movies better.

Mike LL

You are correct about the comparison. It is two different genres. Star Wars has always been fantasy and Star Trek has always been science fiction. Lucas' effort to inject a little science fiction into his space fantasy with the "mitocloridans" was laughable.

Mike LL

Gee-wiz, like I said during your BLAST FROM THE PAST preimere, I'm so sorry you got sick Cassie, let alone Ben did too? Hmm🤔I wonder, do you think it might have been something you two caught during your anniversary trip to Mexico, it's a possibility! That's so cool of your oldest child making dinner for the rest of the siblings, bless his heart indeed, I hope he made dinner for you and Ben as well, hope y'all will be feeling better on time for Thanksgiving coming up🤗 I unfortunately won't be able to participate in the Butter Babes LIVE on 11/28, work that day😭 Oh and BTW Cassie, "(finger sign thingy)" 🤣 that's the Vulkan sign for Live Long and Prosper LOL🤣🤣🤣 I voted on the Martial Arts poll, there's some good ones on that poll, unfortunately none of the ones I recommended made it onto that poll, oh well, another time perhaps! One last thing, might as well say, my Christmas package for you and Carly is almost complete, I'll be sending it soon! Anyway, if I don't see you on another premiere this Thursday, then all I can say is Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family! If I may be so bold to speak from my heart, I'm so thankful to be a fan of such a sweet and amazing person such as you Cassie and Carly too! You two have done so much for me in many ways, you two have cheered me up whenever I was feeling down about my problems countless times, I'm so blessed to have y'all in my life, the sisters I never had lol! Thank you for everything Cassie, you're the absolute best, [as a friend] love you too hehe😁 Love and support always, [virtual hug🤗] God bless you, Carly, and your family🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Wesley White

You've reminded me of Blackadder: "... Or tomorrow we die. Which I have no intention of doing, because I want to be young and wild, then I want to be middle-aged and rich, then I want to be old and annoy people by pretending that I'm deaf." What's that you said, sonny? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Yes! Inside Man. Another check on the list. Frequency The Quick and the Dead Thirteen Days Frailty The Cell Spy Game Training Day Fallen (1998) Sicario The Blind Swordsman Zatoichi The Devil's Advocate When We Were Kings Kingpin Tootsie Dark City Inside Man ✔️ The Abyss ✔️ Enemy At The Gates ✔️ The Game ✔️ Seabiscuit ✔️ Cinderella Man ✔️ Contact✔️ Ford v Ferrari ✔️ Outbreak ✔️

G

Dog Day Afternoon! Get in there! One of the best told true stories ever. Happy Thanksgiving Americans.

Francis X. Lord

Every single one of the heist movies is worth watching. Dog Day Afternoon has some superb acting by Pacino. You'll like Little Miss Sunshine as well.

David Blount

It would also be my choice, mate. But we’ll probably get another 5 baseball and football movies before it’s even considered.

Shehab Dawoud

While I have never gotten into Star Trek except for the movies I watched when I was a kid. I will keep an open mind for you Cassie if you like it then it must be somewhat decent. Also I am sorry to hear about you and Ben. My prayers are definitely with you guys. I love hearing about your family. It's like food for the soul. I am thankful for you and Carly and Ben as we remember who to be thankful for at this time of year. Although I think American Thanksgiving has horrible roots. I do like the coming together of families. So I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving for you and your entire family. Godspeed

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

If it has Enter the Dragon, surely it must have The Last Dragon! :-P At least it didn't have House of the Dragon! More seriously, I didn't mean the selection was perfect, but it is a solid one coming from a non-connoisseur, containing several of the essentials.

Happy Hanukkah

If you wanted good star trek, perhaps the 3 newest movies with Chris Pine. I love all the series, but it's hard for a lot to get into. My favorite was Next Generation followed by Deep Space 9.

Russ Vedder

Last Dragon on the poll caused me literal pain but I made a full recovery.

Richard Maurer

Thank you Cassie for a martial arts poll with mostly great choices (Last Dragon? who's bad idea was that?). Now all I need is a Classic Horror poll (had to ask) and I can di.....live to a ripe old age a happy man.

Richard Maurer

Star Trek: "Strange New Worlds" is Thee Ultimate Star Trek of All Time! And I grew up watching TOS! Do not forget the Original Series Episodes: "Empath" or "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" edge cutting stories! :«) <- My Bajoran Smilie! [Except Patreon won't let me wear my Bajoran earring! BOO!] OH! I used to be pretty good with ASCII art lol

Randolph Tirazona

None of which were as good as the series

Lance Li

Among the best episodes, that one was easily the weakest

Lance Li

Is Space Seed the one with Rich Corinthian Leather?

2-Can

OG is objectively the best among the series. And i’m always puzzled why people compare star trek to star wars. One is almost entirely based on a mixture of witty camp and social commentary, while the other is just juvenile pulp. And tng doesn’t incorporate as much camp as they did with ogs, so a lot of it was also a little humorless.

Lance Li

So many great episodes. You just named 2 of them for sure.

Shawn Kildal

I wish you could do The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. ❤️

Carol Rocha

:-) And let us not forget this advice from The West Wing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAnwYfEUtLw [first twenty seconds]

Happy Hanukkah

Please, please let one of the episodes be The City on the Edge of Forever.

Shawn Kildal

"The Martial Arts Poll ... was so hard for me to make" But you nailed it! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

No need for a poll. THE iconic basketball movie is White Men Can't Jump! :-P

Happy Hanukkah

I am so giddy about Star Trek i'm totally overlooking the "finger sign thingy" comment. Hoping you love it as much as I!

Keith Jones

LOL I love the move you pulled in there in Inside man. Star Trek Episodes: As others have suggested, "Space Seed". You'll appreciate the epsiode "𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿" as i think it will resonate will you the most as its a love story at its heart " Patterns of Force" and "The trouble with tribbles" which is a fun episode. P.s A Fish called Wanda is actually a funny film you'll love it (although you'll never look at chips/ fries the same way). Get well soon!

rakesh

I'm hoping for "A Taste of Armageddon" and "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"

DAVID COSTELLO

Truer words have never been spoken my friend 🖖

Ronny Boss

Glad to see y'all are on the mend. I turn into Sheldon when I get sick 🤒🤧🐈‍⬛ So excited for Trek. my grandma got me into it when I was but a wee lad

Ronny Boss

For Star Trek, please start with The Naked Time (one of the contenders for the pilot) and The Corbomite Maneuver. After those, check any remaining episodes with an IMDB score of 7.5 or higher.

Lance Li

Get well soon to you both. Maybe some (or lots!) of cough medicine, orange juice/vitamin C, and/or some alcohol might do the trick! I meant to post this anecdote on The African Queen (1951) reaction; According to Katherine Hepburn's autobiography, almost the entire cast and crew got sick while filming that movie on location...except for Humphry Bogart and the director John Huston. She said "Those two had so much alcohol in their system, no germ could possibly survive in there!"

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

The Star Trek episodes are standalone episodes (except for 1 two part episode). It doesn't matter which order you watch the episodes in.

Shawn Kildal

My hope is that if she does watch The City on the Edge of Forever it would be the best chance for her to see how good the series is and perhaps squeeze in 2 or 3 more episodes. Plus, I'd think she'd fall for Kirk.

Shawn Kildal

She said during a chat today that Space Seed is a lock

Shawn Kildal

Space Seed is a lock according to her. I've suggested others that I think would be great options but she's still deciding on the rest.

Shawn Kildal

Trek is love, Trek is life.

Godzilla Jones

Did Cassie say "Some Key Episodes" (of the original series)? My girl is doing it right!!! I hope those "key episodes" feature Kirk kissing a lot of girls. I know Cass digs romance!

Todzilla

Mexico. Hope you guys are feeling better (but yeah, Mexico). lol

Ike

Cassie said Space Seed will be one of them for sure

Shawn Kildal

Dog Day Afternoon and Inside Man.... awesome!

Bill W

I pray for your health. There is ALWAYS at least 1 sick person in that house.

Bill W

Wow! So sorry you and Ben were so sick. It is awful when both parents are sick. I'm glad you're feeling better especially with the holiday so close.

James Sweeney

Are the Star Trek episodes already picked out?

DAVID COSTELLO

Yup, this, 100% 😂

Planner

Oh my goodness! God bless! If we lived in Utah we'd bring some food over. Hopefully you both rally soon!

Above Average Dave

I've always told people to skip the first two seasons of TNG and start with season three. That show didn't real gel together till Riker grew a beard. I personally feel that Cassie would appreciate Deep Space 9 the most because of the story arch and heavy character development. Strange New Worlds is also heavily character driven which has given the show a much wider appeal

Kuskesh Haramzadeh

So excited for the Inside Man watch! Like off the charts excited!

Mike LL

PAR WRECK time! All right!! Love that she will watch some episodes! Space Seed is a must!

Mike LL

So is DDA tonight? Tomorrow? Or what? Also, the Martial Arts poll has been requested for a while, mostly by one guy, but still. So will it take 6-12 months before we can entertain the prospect of a Basketball poll? I mean, that's at least a sport you're somewhat familiar with.

Shehab Dawoud

Excited to see you starting on Star Trek it's a big haul to get into so I'm glad you are doing key episode of the original, before starting the movies, I hope you will do the same with Next Gen as one you get thru the first 2 seasons it really does get good but that is coming from someone who turns on next gen just to relax.

John Rose

Correct!

Kristin D

I don’t know if you drank water in Mexico, but that could be the problem. They don’t have the same water treatment. It is always recommended when you go to Mexico to drink bottled water and avoid things that are made with local water.

Doc Larry

It is a GREAT episode but I was trying to keep it down to three episodes and felt that the three I picked would go further in giving Cassie a feel for the characters and their interactions as well as laying the foundations for the films (frankly, I’d have left Space Seed off the list in favor of City on the Edge of Forever if not for the fact that it’s directly related to Wrath of Khan).

Just Plain Bob

YES! Inside Man and FINALLY STAR TREK!!!!!!!

Jimmy Reyes

All great episodes. Have to throw in The City on the Edge of Forever. It's a must IMO. Cassie would love it I think.

Shawn Kildal

Inside Man, yippee!

JL_83

WOW! I read the post after I posted my first comment and it looks like you guys are having about as bad of a week as we are. I'm glad you and Ben are feeling better and hopefully your kiddos don't get sick. Hoping you have a great rest of your week and enjoy all the time with your family that you can while they're visiting.

Katie Jackson

Live long and prosper. 🖖😁

Zane From Canada

It would make more sense just to watch the Star Trek movies.

Odd Thomas

Hope you both feel better

Christian

Tbh if she gets around to watching the last 3 I can actually see her enjoying them the most, as quite a few of my friends who aren’t into Trek all really enjoyed watching them over the others. Personally I do really like them as well but my top 5 in not particularly order is 2,3,4 and 6 from the TOS and First Contact.

Dean Holt

I would think 1 indispensable ST:TOS episode is Space Seed... because it obviously ties in with the films.

Michael Enos

do Dog Day Afternoon before Inside Man!

Chip MC

Best key episodes are: The City on the Edge of Forever S1 E28, Space Seed S1 E22 (this episode leads directly to one of the movies), Amok Time S2 E1, and Mirror, Mirror S2 E4. Those are easily the top 4. I'd also like to recommend The Doomsday Machine S2 E6, & Journey to Babel S2 E10 (introduces 2 key characters who will appear in the movies by the same actors). I hope this helps a little. If you would like a few more I already have others in mind. Can't wait for you "to boldly go......"

Shawn Kildal

Sorry to hear you guys were so ill. I’m glad you’re feeling better. Looking forward to Inside Man. Also Star Trek 🖖😉 I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Robert da Spruce

Clive Warren is amazing in INSIDE MAN

nick bell

So happy you’re both feeling better and to quote one of my favourite horror films “This house is clean”. Can’t wait for you to enter the Star Trek universe been waiting ages for it lol. Also another fantastic week with Dog Day Afternoon & Inside Man both brilliant films and imo Inside Man is seriously underrated. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Dean Holt

Should be interesting for Cassie to see Michael and Fredo under very different circumstances

John Drake

When you mentioned Sneakers in the middle of this post my PiB bingo card lit up brightly. I can't imagine you watching 1960's Shatner Star Trek, so I will definitely be tuning it. Whatever happens, you'll expand your old school TV culture quite a bit. I'm proud of PiB.

Brian's Dog

A Fish Called Wanda and Sneakers would be fun ones :) Can't wait to see what the options are for the Martial Arts poll!

Patrick Egan

Looking forward to Star Trek this week. I'm curious to see what episodes you're watching. The Original Series was in the 60's so the effects and budget wasn't huge for it but it made up for that with great characters. I enjoyed the movies more than the series. The first one came out in the late 70's and then 2-5 where in the 80's and 6 in the early 90's. I personally prefer The Next Generation but that's what I grew up with along with the original movies so that's what I feel the most nostalgia for. My mom was always watching Star Trek from as far back as I can remember and it's the piece of media that I associate the most with her. No Pressure😆. Seriously though, I hope you enjoy it but I'd understand if you didn't. It's not for everyone but there is Trek spanning every generation so even if you don't care for one you might like another.

Katie Jackson

Hey Cassie! I don’t know if it’s too late to make suggestions regarding which Star Trek episodes to watch, but I’d recommend the following: 1) Balance of Terror - demonstrated Captain Kirk’s military genius 2) Space Seed - the second movie in the franchise, Wrath of Khan, has its roots in this episode 3) Amok Time - gives the viewer real insight into the relationship between Captain Kirk and Spock, which is needed to fully appreciate their actions in the movie franchise As for the films themselves, I hope you’re going to watch the entirety of the films featuring the original cast. If not, I really believe you should at least watch parts 2 (Wrath of Khan), 3 (Search for Spock), 4 (Voyage Home) and 6 (Undiscovered Country). IMO, the remakes are a blight on creativity, relying on CGI in place of good, original storytelling and ripping off far superior original films, with NONE of the emotional impact.

Just Plain Bob

I'm sure my mom and your mom said the same thing 30 years ago. Hahahah

William Bryan

I do hope you enjoy Star Trek! I will say that although I'm a huge Trekkie, I do acknowledge that the original series is very cheesy and it's not my favorite of the Trek shows (That honor goes to Next Generation) but the original series is still fun and has some great episodes. Just don't go into it expecting something like FireFly or Star Wars. I do hope you watch at least some of the movies they made with the original cast. Specifically Star Trek 2-4 since those form a trilogy of a continuing story. I do hope one of the episodes of the show you're watching is "Space Seed" since that episode ties into Star Trek 2:Wrath of Kahn. Anyway, live long and prosper Cassie!

Cody Nelson

It was Mexican food wasn’t it? It’s always the Mexican for me but I still go back to it 😂

Omar

I hope we see "The 36th Chamber" on the martial arts poll.

Seymor Butz

those dang kids bring it home I swear hah

Cassie

A big thumbs up for the Heist Week idea! Also, Spike Lee had great respect for Lumet and Inside Man is him paying homage to Dog Day Afternoon in some ways, so watching one right after the other will be a treat. Two cracking movies from two of the great New York filmmakers.

Henry Graham

Heist week sounds like a great idea.

Jake McNulty

get feeling better! love ur polls! I wanna try to get a request in for an old Jack Nicholson movie where he plays a good cool guy. Movie is "Psych-Out" 1968. I dont have the DVD to send but the directors cut is on YouTube. This movie will make you say "man" alot. It is about the summer of love in San Francisco in 1967. Get well!

Dana Regan

You two get sick a lot. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had a cold and been sick in the last five years lol

William Bryan

I think they are trying to get her to watch the old films...cross your fingers it doesn't turn her off ti the rest of the Trek series/movies

Andrew Ramos

So, Cassie, are you saying that you are thankful for us? ;) Here's to you and Ben being healthy and may USA Thanksgiving be a great stress-free time for you and your loved ones.

Mark Vaderr

Happy Turkey Hosting Day to you! Also found Kaiielle from your Hook reaction. She's cool people and I am catching up on her channel too. Sharing the love. Have a safe and healthy holiday! 💜💜💜💜

Michael Enos

Thank you for Star Trek. It’s been what I’ve been waiting for. Hope you enjoy

David Freese

STAR TREK? Nice. There's quite a few episodes from the original series that you should enjoy.

Steven Perez

The privilege is all ours!

Cole Jennett

Ooh exciting. Is the Star Trek watch a path to the new films? I hope so.

aarswft

Get well soon. 🥵🤢🤒
