Little Miss Sunshine (2006) - Full Reaction

Well this was unexpected in every way! Olive was just amazing – Olive for president! The transformation of the family from the start of their journey to the end was so touching. Every character was spot on, especially the mom and Greg Kinnear’s character. It was hilariously sweet and just full of surprises! What a hidden gem.

Thanks for crying and laughing along with me! I needed this today. This was nominated for Best Picture... also Abigail Breslin as Olive was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. It won Best Actor for Alan Arkin (Grandpa) and Best Original Screenplay. Such a beautiful movie. I watch this when I'm fighting depression and it always helps. This is a movie about a REAL family. Dysfunctional, not perfect, but they love each other. If you like this movie I highly recommend "A Man Called Otto"... I would LOVE to watch that with you. Thanks for your work!

Kit Taylor

Great Steve Carrell movie: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Odd Thomas

Hidden gem.

Russell Teo

Toni Collette is such an amazing actress! She’s incredible in dramatic roles. But Muriel’s Wedding is still my favorite performance of hers. Twenty-two years old and she was already a legend!

Juley

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Muriel’s Wedding! One of my all time favorites!

Juley

I've never seen this before. To tell the truth, I didn't think I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Steve Carrel is always gold. And Toni Collette proved herself to me in The Sixth Sense and Hereditary. And your reaction always adds to the movie.

Eddie Perkins

New subscriber here, I've been watching your reactions on youtube and I just love them so I had to watch your full reactions. You give really great commentary and insight. I would love to see you react to other films that doesn't get as much attention that are very underrated. Like Split, Heart & Souls, Gifted, Penelope, Benny & Joon, Catch & Release just to name a few.

Annie519

Right, they were perfectly fine with the other girls being air brushed and barely even wearing any clothes but were offended by Olive's innocent dance. Yes, Miss California's reaction was my favorite, she loved every minute of it. I also really like some of the other workers that were also liking it, like Kerby. And I crack up every time when that father out of nowhere goes crazy.

Annie519

perfect summary!

Cassie

the nicest, thank you !

Cassie

B-b-but you're watching this at home on youtube.

rakesh

Great rec!

Above Average Dave

If you like this, you would LOVE "The Way Way Back". also with Steve Carrel, Toni Collette, as well as Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney and Amanda Pete. So heart-warming.

Eric J Watkins

I don’t have anything, except to say “reactions like this is why we go to the movies.”

Bonnie, if Cassie is muted, then we should try and troubleshoot your set up. The movie is blurred, and muted after a few minutes(this is in order to help you sync your own copy of the movie to Cassies) -- with full length reaction videos, the movie does not play out for you to watch along, because that is illegal. That would be distribution of copyrighted material. If you need any help, you can find most of us on the discord server, and we can troubleshoot any issues you're having. Thanks for being here!

When I saw Cassie was going to react to 'Little Miss Sunshine', (one of my grown daughter's favorite guilty pleasures) well I thought one thing... This should be.. SOMETHING... But... with Cassie... it will end with TEARS of PURE JOY! This was FANTASTIC!

Terry Yelmene

I have to say as well there's a lot more gems out there and that we've voted for on planners app. Unfortunately, with a lot of gems, they're not widely distributed and seen and tend not do do well in polls against "popular"movies. You've done a lot of votes on the top 100 movies in the planner app, hopefully we'll get a poll sometime in the new year to vote on some lower ranked (but absolute gems of) movies.

rakesh

....but it's a swedish movie 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪, and you got it in your collection 😋🥴🥹🥹

Alan Arkin won an Oscar for his role in this movie. His first Oscar nomination (for leading actor) was for his first movie role as an actor - "The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming" ('67) - a cold war comedy poking fun at the cold war. It also features an actress Cassie found intriguing in "North By Northwest" - Eva Marie Saint, who won an Oscar for her her first movie role.

Bert Towle

A testament to persistence! I may try a recommendation myself.

Barry Justice

I know a gem...

But Yossarian lives.

"Unexpected treat" pretty much sums up the best of indie movies. They don't fit the cookie-cutter mold established by mainstream Hollywood - which has become so predictable . Although one would undoubtedly run across some weird stuff among the indies now and then, you will always find these gems and discover the best of a filmmaker's creative process. I hope you continue to add independent films in your mix of movies. Expanding one's horizons is endlessly rewarding.

I’m looking forward to watching this with you in a few days. Interested to see what you make of some of it, lol. I agree it is a hidden gem. It was popular during award season, but I don’t think it as well known as it should be

Cole Jennett

Hadn't seen this in a while and enjoy as much as the first time I saw it. Over time it probably doesn't get the love it deserves compare to other Oscar films, even though it was nominated for a Best Picture. Vale Alan Arkin, he won an Oscar for that performance, he great in this, but then again he was one of those actors that is pretty much great in most roles. Glad you loved Olive Cassie, Abigail Breslin was nominated for Oscar for that performance, it is a great performance, but especially someone of that age. I remember Alan Arkin copping heat for saying that she shouldn't win the Oscar, and they interpreted it as him not thinking she deserved it and had an issue with the performance. He thought she deserved it, he as just concerned around the negative impacts of that for someone that was 10 years old. I think the only other reaction for Toni Collette on the channel is the "The Sixth Sense", where she also a mother of special child. I think Cassie has seen "Knives Out" (I think she has referred to in reactions), again playing a mother. She is a great actor, and I wouldn't be a very patriotic Aussie if I didn't spruik her and "Muriel's Wedding" for a reaction, the movie that put her on the map for a lot of people. I think she is starting to be in the same category as Dianne Wiest, the perennial mother. Everyone is great in this movie, such a good movie. I think it is secretly a prequel to "Breaking Bad", with Bryan Cranston as the shady sales guy "Stan Grossman" and Dean Norris as the questionable policeman.

Mojo One Thousand

I had not seen that before, and I’m glad I watched it with Cassie watching because I wasn’t sure how to feel about some of that 😂. Different but good 👍🏽

Omar

👍

Just Plain Bob

Not Zombieland specifically, but she knew who she was.

aarswft

RIP Alan Arkin

Paul Deaconu

I'd never seen this, but loved your especially animated reaction!

Brian's Dog

We could definitely do with more tragic/black comedies/satires on the channel. Some of my favorites: Dr. Strangelove (1964), The King of Comedy (1982), After Hours (1985), Brazil (1985), In Bruges (2008), The Banshees of Inisherin (2022). I could also include American Psycho (2000) in that but whether you'd see it that way is a big question!

Shehab Dawoud

I loved this reaction. What a great movie.

Only sun and not sunshine, but I really like HERE COMES THE SUN from The Beatles. This movie was a big hit in 2006, but I haven't watched it again since then. I was curious how Cassie would react to it, because I remembered it has some dark and uncomfortable scenes, but also some humorous and sweet ones. I'm glad she enjoyed it, and it turned out to be a great reaction. It seems she is more receptive to these weird and quirkier comedies instead of the mainstream ones. Staying with the sunshine theme, let me suggest another hidden and underappreciated gem in the sci-fi/thriller genre, SUNSHINE (2007), starring Chris Evans, Michelle Yeoh and Cillian Murphy among others.

Gábor Árki

Not sure what muted sounds you’re talking about. Clear as a bell to me. Maybe it’s a problem with your device?

Brian Harris

Oh man I love this movie! The cast is perfect (RIP Alan Arkin, he was great), can't wait to watch this tonight.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Took 2 years of asking and waiting but finally got the LMS reaction. Whew.

Bonnie

Yes, due to copyright the movie cannot be shown. You need your own copy to follow along, or you can use one of the links below the opening paragraph to rent or stream the video while you watch along with Cassie

Dave

Yes! I was just a confused a little bit on why she couldn’t play or hear? Is it copyrighted?

Bonnie

You are new to this, right?

Brian McGovern

What’s with all the muted sounds. How do we enjoy this?

Bonnie

Love this movie! The cast. The screenplay. The cringe. It's all just so damn good.

Steve Mercier

One of my favourites looking forward to this reaction

Du-Wayne Rood

Little Miss Sunshine won two Academy Awards, so I’m not sure it qualifies as a hidden gem. Haven’t watched the reaction yet. Did Cassie recognize that the actress that played Olive was also Little Rock in Zombieland?

Just Plain Bob

I love this movie! The satire is absolutely spot on!! How come, the movie posits, it's ok to treat little girls like future sex objects until someone innocent throws it in your face? Olive was just...dancing! But their twisted minds saw what they wanted to see. I love how Miss California jammed along while those who take a bunch of little kids prancing around WAY too seriously just lost their friggin minds! Plus, the entire cast just nails it and manages to give real depth to each one (not surprising, it's a talented cast).

Jessi

Another under appreciated gem. Not for everyone but I loved it!

Wes

This film was odd with the little girl dancing. I mean, I get the premise, but it was cringe for me.

Author Travis Adams Irish

Is there going to be another movie inspired PiB dance routine short in our futures?

Jason Fulbright

Gosh. I loved this movie back in the day. I forgot about it.
