This was such a nice surprise! Brendan Fraser was hilarious, and Alicia Silverstone brought her own special charm! The whole movie felt like a warm hug... cozy, familiar, and just makes you smile! It's these kinds of movies that remind me why I love diving into a story - for the joy and feel-good moments they bring. Hope you enjoy!

I’m sure it’s been said a thousand times, but for a Brendan Fraser fan his comedy tour de force is really Bedazzled!! And it’s directed by Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day)

So glad you enjoyed this one. It’s been a favorite of mine for some time. You need to get Carly to see it now. There is an old movie that I think you and Carly might like. It’s called Random Harvest (1942) and stars Ronald Coleman and one of my all time favorite actors, Greer Garson. Unfortunately it’s not available for free streaming so you can’t really make a streaming of it. However you can rent it on Amazon. It’s a romantic drama that was nominated for an Oscar. Definitely worth the price of admission.

I 2nd Pleasantville. Amazing performances by the cast (that will be familiar to Cassie) a clever and original script / story, and just a great film. Cassie would be engrossed! (And charmed 😉)

The sync thing is usually a NTSC vs PAL format difference (assuming the same cut of the movie). Play the fast one at 96% speed and it should be good.

Finally got around to watching this reaction. Blast From The Past is one of my all-time favourites so I've been looking forward to this one. As expected Cassie loved it. I'd wager this is one she'll watch over and over like the rest of us. Unfortunately the version on Prime (UK) runs a fraction faster than the version Cassie watched so I had to keep pausing to stay in sync which was a little annoying. Not sure why it does that but it's not the first time. Happened with The Last Of Us too. Everything I watch on Sky runs faster than the version Cassie watches so I usually end up buying or renting it on Prime if it's not on anything else for free. Anyone else have a problem staying in sync? Surely it can't just be me!

Anyone know what the run time of the version Cassie watched is? The version on Prime has a longer run time than the DVD due to extra scenes.

I really think you should go the deep dive and check out Brendan Fraser in School Ties (1992) for coming of age Brendan, The Whale (2022) for seeerious Brendan, and Bedazzled (2000) for quirky, funny, heartfelt Brendan. I'll even throw in Gods and Monsters (1998) since you've watched the old Frankenstein and will have some more insight.

What a lovely reaction to a very sweet movie. If you want to know more about the actual crisis that led to Brendan Fraser being born in a bomb shelter I can highly *highly* recommend "Thirteen Days" which is about the Cuban Missile crisis and how close the world came to an all out Nuclear conflict.
Oh and as a bonus it stars some guy called Kevin Costner . . .

Wonderful reaction Cassie! I’m really happy you enjoyed it so much!
Seeing you tear up when Adam went into the ocean because of what you just experienced in Mexico was beautiful. 🥹
I totally forgot Nathan Fillion was in this! 😀
I know you’re getting a lot of recommendations for The Whale. Which I believe you should watch. But may I also recommend a guilty pleasure of mine, Encino Man.
It stars Brendan Fraser and Samwise Gamgee himself, Sean Astin. Kind of a silly movie. But enjoyable if you don’t take it too seriously.

The faster one probably a NTSC version (North American - 30ish frames per second) and the slow was probably PAL (European - 25 fps). If the fast one is played at 96% speed, they should match.

I would too, but it only did moderately well for views, and since it’s already on the channel, I don’t imagine it will be high on the list. It has been a couple years, and Carly would enjoy it, I just don’t know how likely it is.😕

This movie is delightful, and remarkably it came out in the same year as THE MUMMY. I came across it by chance around the mid to late 2000s while flipping through the TV channels and felt like I had found a rare gem. It is not a very well-known film.
This was a fabulous reaction. When Cassie is not only engaged, but truly loves a movie, those are the best.
Taking this opportunity to promote THIRTEEN DAYS (2000) a bit, a movie about the Cuban Missile Crisis starring Keving Costner. It is considered a historically quite accurate dramatization of the events.

I've experienced that with other reactors, but not Cassie. I either stream the movies from whatever service they're on or just play them from my own digital library. It is frustrating when it happens. I try to find a different source or I end up just pausing the quicker one for a second or two, here and there. It's not ideal, but it's better than not watching the reaction at all!

After 'George' and 'The Mummy' and this charming little romp, it must be said, that Brandon Fraser is much, more capable than just these lighter fare characters. To prove this, I'd ask PiB to consider reacting to 'The Whale' - a truly great movie and an amazing character performance for which Brandon Fraser won Best Actor!

I have waited for so long for you to watch this one! Encino Man (1992) has to be next, so you can watch Son-in-Law (1993) for Thanksgiving! Brendan Fraser makes a cameo in Son-in-Law as his character from Encino Man! So glad you are getting to see and feel the love we all have for Brendan and his movies! This movie is SO sweet... you will love it even more every time you watch it! This is one of Brendan's best performances! Such a great reaction from you! You never disappoint!!! Thanks, Cassie!

This seems to be the perfect Cassie movie because Cassie liked it so much. That she recognized the nod to Casablanca and the line from that movie made the reaction for me. 😄
I knew when the father mentioned the "worthless" stock certificates at the beginning of the movie that they would be insanely rich at the end.
What a great reaction, thank you Cassie!
The TV show they were watching in the bunker was the old The Honeymooners show with Jackie Gleason and Art Carney from the 1950's.
I guess I liked the movie too because of all the references to the past.

I also love that Law & Order creator Dick Wolf wrote it. Apparently, inspired by his experience at prep school.

I think Brendan Fraser’s best performance of that era was in “School Ties.” A lot of young faces you will recognize, including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Chris O’Donnell. I know you don’t want to get political, but would be a good movie to watch with some of the current anti-semitism in the world.🫠

I haven't seen this in ages; it was funny and good; there are a few parts I'd forgotten about. When Christopher Walken was dancing with Sissy Spacek, and Adam was watching, that reminded me so much of "Catch Me If You Can," and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's a true story directed and produced by Steven Spielberg starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks with Christopher Walken. It has a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score.

I hope "the mummy" makes you watch With Honors (1994). 😊 It's definitely a movie to watch around the holidays, even though it's not a holiday movie.
Brendan Fraser, Moira Kelly, and Patrick Dempsey are Harvard students. A chance encounter with Joe Pesci, a homeless man, changes their lives forever. It's a drama, a coming-of-age, rom-com rolled into one. Directly up your movie alley. 😁

When I saw you were reacting Blast From The Past. I had an Oh Hey! moment. I hadn't seen this movie in a while but I knew you were going to go gaga over it. I immediately checked, Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. Then, I slapped myself in the head. I have a very large DVD collection. I had forgotten that I owned a copy.
