Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I love October but it sure feels like a MARATHON and I am getting TIRED at the end here! Although I did have fun with most of the October movies, I am ready to take a break from scary.
My dad is having pretty major surgery today, it's also my mom's birthday today. I'm a little anxious because of it. Thoughts and prayers appreciated that everything goes smoothly.
I know this is very short notice and last minute but I'll be doing a LIVE watch-along tonight with BUTTER patrons to Adventures in Babysitting at 8pm, hope you can make it but no pressure of course!
I am looking forward to the movies this week-Adventures in Babysitting and two November 11th movies. Courage Under Fire and the poll winner. I just posted a Remembrance Day Poll so make sure to go vote for the one you want to see.
This month we will also have Backdraft as my PPOTM, catching up with Dog Day Afternoon and Little Miss Sunshine from LIVE poll winners, more polls, as well as Fools Rush in in honor of Matthew Perry. I have never watched Friends from start to finish, but seeing all the compilations of him being posted, he was so easy to watch and had such a great smile.
One of you had a great idea to do a monthly or once-in-a-while Throwback Thursday to watch a movie that Carly and I have seen, but only once and a long time ago type thing. I loved rewatching Hook on the channel. Also maybe showing Carly some of the movies she hasn't seen etc. She has never seen Forrest Gump! I have seen it only once a long long time ago so that could be an example! We are going to start that here!
With November fast approaching and what seems like heartache wherever I look, I am trying to focus on little moments of JOY and gratitude. Feeling the heat kick on, the kids finding leaves as big as their heads, a video of my niece in her goat costume and finding out winter coats still fit from last year! What has been a recent little moment of joy for you?

This movie is a family favorite! Love it! Keith Coogan, who plays Brad, is in the movie Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991) with Christina Applegate! I love it even more... I just know you'll love it, too! Five siblings are left alone all summer when their mother leaves the country, and the babysitter kicks the bucket! Such a great comedy... would love to see your reaction!

I wasn't able to find it on Cassie's list and neither lady recognized Ed Harris from it so I think it's safe (shocking, but safe) to assume that they haven't seen it. It's an amazing women' movie and family movie and perfect for the holidays, so let's get the push going to at least get it on a poll - STEPMOM, please!

Pleasantville (1998) is probably the highest on PopcornRequests that would be solidly a Carly movie (it's #13 right now)... Well, maybe Crocodile Dundee (1986) (at #9), but that's oddball enough that Pleasantville has the edge on it, I think. City of Angels (1998), The Last Unicorn (1982) (... makes me think of Legend (1985) for some reason), and Shakespeare in Love (1998) are all very solid picks for Carly's 100th reaction. I haven't seen Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995)... Just looked it up, it's your highest requested movie 😂 If we're playing that game, then Odd Thomas (2013) (... though not really, it is not a Carly movie)

I also did want to add a little nugget of information; Researchers have been studying the link between fear and arousal since 1975. Apparently, unscrupulous men have been emotionally gas lighting women with scary movies since before the 70’s. Which is why historically scary movies almost always make a profit, even really bad scary movies.

Looking for to the reaction to Adventures in Babysitting & Courage Under Fire I really think you will like that. Dog Day Afternoon also a great movie, I’ve not seen Only Fools so that will be a first time watch for me but one of his best films he’s been in imo is The Whole Nine Yards. I love the idea of you rewatching movies you’ve already seen as you could watch some of your favourites and tell us why you love them, also you could call it Rewatching with Carly or something like that. But a few films you could do is, Shawshank Redemption as it was your first reaction, but I’d love you to rewatch the Back to the Future trilogy with her if she hasn’t seen it.

Having you & Carly revisit a movie from way back would be neat. Watching you introduce Carly to Lord Of The Rings was VERY enjoyable, there are definitely some others on here that would be fun to introduce her to. First one that leaps to mind is The Usual Suspects, hopefully Carly hasn't read the comments under your reaction to it! :) Followed closely would be The Sting, and I think she'd really enjoy Robin Hood - Prince Of Thieves as well(provided she hasn't already seen any of those). Something like that once a month would be very entertaining without crowding out fresh reactions.
