Pop Quiz Winner’s Picks Poll!

At our last amazing trivia night, we had a repeat first place winner with Jonathan C! Amazing! He was able to get the $$ prize but I had said before that if they had already been a winner and chosen movies, it would go to the next place which was our very own Larry Darrell!

These are his 5 submitted movies and I can say for sure I would be so happy with any of these! I’m actually so excited!

Help me choose!

Comments

I did a review of Adventures in Babysitting film earlier this year on my channel. It holds a place close to my heart as one of the very first films I ever saw in my life.

Mike the Ginger

Thank you for doing that. The edited version is just too washed out from the original 1987 version.

Mike the Ginger

I will stream for free with my Disney+ subscription. While I would prefer to watch the original, I don't want to buy the DVD. I am age 60 and Adventures in Babysitting has no nostalgia for me, though I am looking forward to watching as a positive movie (and, again, would prefer to watch the original). I voted Thelma & Louise.

Clay F

It's so weird that Disney Plus has edited versions of "Adventures in Babysitting" and (I think) "Splash" when there is now an age option for the channel. Like, they have the freakin' "Deadpool" movies on there, yet they can't have an unedited PG-13 "Adventures in Babysitting?"

WastedPo

Adventures in Babysitting. Coool. Cassie, I Overnighted a Blu-Ray copy of Adventures in Babysitting to your PO Box, and it should arrive by 6 PM tomorrow, Saturday. Didn’t know if you were going to try and watch the film this weekend or not. I emailed the tracking number to you. EDIT: PACKAGE DELIVERED I realized LATE how limited the best viewing options are. Disney’s version is Edited and the Old DVD is not anamorphic formatted, meaning it is meant for an old 4:3 TV and it would have black bars all the way around it. So if you want it, hopefully it will be there in time. If you don’t need it, please gift it to someone. Thank You. I’m very much Looking Forward to this.

Larry Darrell

What's the third?

AdrianF

Thanks for telling me that. I’m actually very sarcastic too and I run into having to explain myself on here.

Robbie

Honestly, I have a hard time communicating in this medium, which is why this is the only place that I do it. I hardly ever have a conversation through texting. I don't do facebook, twitter, insta whats it. No one ever gets me, until they meet me, and even then I'm not a big talker. It takes time. I don't take myself seriously and I especially don't expect anyone else to take anything I say on here to heart. I assume We're all friends here and that we're all here to have fun. 99 Percent of what I say on here is said with either a smile or a wink (even when I don't use characters), or I'm just giving some random Movie/TV or Hollywood knowledge I have. And also of note, I work in construction and more than half of what is said among tradesman on a jobsite is Sarcastic Ribbing. After so many years of it, I find it doesn't stop when I leave work. So No Worries Man. My intentions are always to elicit a smile or at the very least... a chuckle. I don't always succeed. :-)(-;

Larry Darrell

Meh.

Mike Lemon

Awesome thank you

Robbie

Found you 😄

Björn Karlsson

Robbiereacts22

Robbie

I think I have trouble reading sarcasm lol

Robbie

Other than you can't stand Susan Sarandon, how did you like Thelma & Louise?

Clay F

I know this is hard to believe, but some people actually like Adventures in Babysitting more than the others. For instance, I cant stand Susan Sarandon or Julia Roberts (and I haven't seen the other two).

Mike Lemon

I had to vote for Adventures in Babysitting (1987) *REMEMBER: The unedited version, NOT the edited Disney version.* But it was a close call with Thelma and Louise (1991).

Mike the Ginger

Feeling very conflicted on this poll. I've only seen 3/5 myself, 2 of them over 30 years ago, and I can't bear the idea of causing the emotions of the third (that's actually one of the "if it's on, I stop to watch" films for me).

Mike H

(-: I know, all in Good Fun. Just Jokin’ Round. ;-)

Larry Darrell

I would prefer Halloween year.

Richard Maurer

Captain America would beg to differ.

Richard Maurer

Ehhhh I cannot find you on Youtube 🫣🤥😔 Hmm.... I'm at my work atm, so I will continue when I get home 🙂

Björn Karlsson

Awesome thanks. Hopefully I’ll get some uploads on there soon. I’m learning to edit and it’s tricky for me

Robbie

Cool 😃 you got a new suscriber 😁

Björn Karlsson

You have a great last name as it’s mine too

Robbie

I have not started my patreon yet. My channel on YouTube is Robbie Reacts. I have dined some reactions but I’m teaching myself how to edit so I have not posted yet.

Robbie

Well I know that I was being silly

Robbie

I am the opposite. I think should be Halloween week instead of Halloween month. But we all have our preferences.

Clay F

Thanks Larry, I should be covered either way then. The disc is hard to come by (quickly) it seems.

AdrianF

Good points. Cassie and Carly will probably like better the feel-good positive "Adventures in Babysitting" -- thus we will see more smiles in their reaction, which is pleasant to see.

Clay F

Nope, the whole Halloween season in the reactersverse starts with so much promise, not always fulfilled, but still over too soon. Now back to lesser content.

Richard Maurer

I think you're right that "Thelma and Louise" is the better movie. However, I think most of us enjoy seeing Cassie and Carly have fun more than we enjoy seeing them being .... you know. So, I voted for "Adventures in Babysitting." But! Thelma and Louise definitely needs to be not too far behind on the reaction list. "The Fly" too!

Jeffery Parks

Effective have some perspective guys I'm talking about in the movie of course Thor is real in real life LOL

JollymonSing

Just checked… My Blu-ray clocks in at 1:42:16 Disney Version in at 1:42:03… with the beginning disclaimer, “This film has been modified from its original version. It has been edited for content,” which lasts 5 seconds. iTunes may be OK, without the small, but totally unnecessary dialogue removals. I can’t speak for the overdubbing of other dialogue, but most likely it’s ok. Also just realized the Disney version has a darker and over saturated color temperature. That’s another strike against it.

Larry Darrell

I hope she does to. But Cassie is very Disney. She is more Disney then Snow White.

Rick Williams

Thor isn't real???

Damon

I voted Thelma and Louise as I think it's a must-see. I also love "The Awful Truth", not only for Cary Grant, but the great Irene Dunne (and Asta the dog), but looks like that has little chance. Both have great women's parts, something I'm always wanting more of in reactions. Would love to see some of the strong films of the 70s and Eighties like "China Syndrome", "Places in the Heart", "Mask", "Norma Rae", "Silkwood", "Kramer Vs. Kramer" even.

Stephanie Birdsong

I chose Adv. in Babysitting because it's fun but also because I wanna hear Cassie tell some funny stories about babysitting.

Grant Parker

Btw... do you have a channel on Patreon/Youtube? 🙂🙂

Björn Karlsson

You don’t have to be gay to wear Steel Magnolias shirts… I wear Steel Magnolias shirts. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (-: Obligatory Seinfeld Quote :-)

Larry Darrell

Yeah it's a shame. But that takes away from the movie, so I hope she watches the correct un-Disneyfied version.

Mike the Ginger

What was once thought of as kids being kids and teenagers being teenagers… is no more. Apparently it’s no longer acceptable to laugh at such things.

Larry Darrell

Also Thelma and Louis is great too. I like Adventure in Babysitting but it’s very cheesy and childish compared to the others

Robbie

Steel Magnolias is one of my absolute favorite films. I have a bunch of shirts with quotes from the film which absolutely shows how gay I am lol. You and sister will absolutely adore how funny and tender the film is.

Robbie

Adventures in Babysitting, Rotten Tomatoes (Critics 71%, Audience 70%) critic consensus = "Sweet and spry, Adventures in Babysitting gets by on its amiable tone." Thelma & Louise, Rotten Tomatoes (Critics 86%, Audience 82%) critic consensus = "... ride-or-die chemistry between Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon ... scorching visuals fit for a postcard, Thelma & Louise is a feminist adventure ... provocative and rollicking."

Clay F

While Adventures in Babysitting (1987) is cute and positive, seems about nostalgia to vote for it. -I am glad that many patrons will get to see a reaction of a movie sentimental from their youth. I voted Thelma & Louise (1991), a profound movie, that became part of the culture. Thelma: "I don't ever remember feeling this awake."

Clay F

Yeah, while Adventures in Babysitting is cute and positive, seems about nostalgia to vote for it. I am glad that many patrons will get to see a reaction of a movie from their youth.

Clay F

quasi-spoiler warning... They sanitize the two F bombs.

Matt Rose

What did they edit? I have not seen the movie in a long time, but I don't remember anything bad in the movie. Just a cute fun movie.

Rick Williams

What do you mean "is not real"?

Mike Lemon

Adventures in babysitting was one of my favourite as a kid rented it loads of times.

Dean Holt

Yeah. I'm that old. :)

rakesh

If you watch Adventures in Babysitting: DO NOT WATCH IT ON DISNEY+ it's edited. Make sure to watch the full original version!

Mike the Ginger

My apologies if anyone is affected by this but I have to change my vote to "Adventures in Babysitting". All cuz of that little girl who refused to believe that Thor is not real.lol🤟🤣

JollymonSing

Thelma and Louise by a mile

Odd Thomas

With the chat of two different versions (OG versus Disneyfied), does anyone know which the (EU) iTunes version is? It's 1:42:18 long

AdrianF

Sounds like you’re singing the Blues already. You’ll do just fine. ;-)

Larry Darrell

You sure? My sister and I rented it at Blockbuster in the UK BITD and it was definitely called AIB, at least in Blockbuster.

AdrianF

Adventures in Babysitting did hit theaters; saw it @ Bairfair Mall.

Steve H

THE AWFUL TRUTH all the way. Fantastic, wonderful screwball comedy. Cary Grant in top form.

Matt Rose

'Sigh' sad to see Halloween go. I'll vote for Thelma and Louise, I guess, don't really care.

Richard Maurer

I have no idea what prompted it, but I picked up Adventures in B only a few days ago. Probably on sale/Elizabeth Shue-related, but other than that a happy coincidence.

AdrianF

Given I was a teen in the 80s. Nostalgia kicks in. Has to be adventures in babysitting . Elizabeth Shue during her purple patch

LDC7080

Adventures in babysitting is so good, glad its winning this poll,

zynjams

Thelma ...

mhz

I have no preference, but I voted for Steel Magnolias because Cassie would like it.

Jesus F Christ

For some reason, I always assumed Cassie had already seen Steel Magnolias. Like it was a given. Can you imagine her reaction to this movie? It has to happen someday. I'm starting to give up on these polls. Our movies never win Brooke.

Shawn Kildal

Cassie's reaction to Steel Magnolias would be insanely epic. Nothing against the other movies, but it's disappointing it's not going to win.

Shawn Kildal

Adventures in Babysitting was called "A night on the town" when released in the UK. I think it went straight to video, at least that's what I watched it on. Fun 80s popcorn movie. Gets my vote

rakesh

That's what I was thinking. Surprising. Adventures in Babysitting is cute and positive, and of it's time, but not necessarily profound as is Thelma & Louise. I voted Thelma & Louise. Yet, that's me. I will watch the reaction if Adventures in Babysitting wins. The Rotten Tomatoes critic consensus: "Sweet and spry, Adventures in Babysitting gets by on its amiable tone." I did like Elisabeth Shue in Leaving Las Vegas (1995). She was nominated for an Oscar for that role.

Clay F

I was going to say pass... but I will have to give the older films some love even though they are not among Flynn's or Grant's best films. So, I will have to go with "Desperate Journey"... I guess.

Doug Fisher

I have been meaning to suggest "Adventures in Babysitting" for a long time. Hoping it wins! This movie gave me a big crush on Elizabeth Shue for a long time. Lol.

Jeffery Parks

You really really have to see Thelma and Louise and I can’t believe it’s losing to Adventures in Babysitting which is cute but come on.

jdj830

Hook!

Randolph Tirazona

Really? I am even more intrigued now.

Stick Figure Studios

I am certain THE SEARCHERS will get watched at some point.

Stick Figure Studios

Depressing but hardly surprising.

Stick Figure Studios

The only movie I've seen on this list was "Steel Magnolias" and that was because a girl I was dating forced me to watch it at her apartment. Side note, she ended up cheating on me with my coworker and two best friends. Lesson learned: don't watch Steel Magnolias to impress a girl 😅

Todzilla

The dishes are DONE, man.

Alex Ch

The Burbs is a must!

John Cranberry

So stoked that Adventures in BS is winning. In Australia, this movie was called A Night on the Town. Seen it like 30 times.

John Cranberry

Movies I had on a list for Cassie… Clue The Thing Arachnophobia Practical Magic The ‘Burbs Hook And this Poll. I’m Having Fun. Thank You So Much Cassie. I Hope You, and Everyone Else, are Having Fun, too.

Larry Darrell

Cool! Old Faithful! Oh man, I haven’t thought about Dennis the Menace in years. I don’t remember the last time I saw it. Great idea. All those were Favorites of mine.

Larry Darrell

Hey Cassie, you liked Rocky a lot, maybe you consider watching Over the Top (1987), it´s also with Sly. A nice, touching, entertaining movie.

E. D.

Also a small section later on was completely removed, so it would ruin peoples’ syncs. There’s no sense in editing history, which films are in a way. If you don’t like what’s being said or you think something from an older film is not “PC” anymore, then it should be used as a teaching moment… not erased from existence. There’s an old saying about what happens when you don’t learn from the past.

Larry Darrell

I’m right on top of that, Rose!

Larry Darrell

You asked and you shall receive, Adventures in Babysitting. And since you already watched The Lost Boys another fantastic movie from the two famous actors around that time Corey Haim & Corey Feldman is called License to Drive, it’s family friendly; you should try and watch that one.

FranciscoGios

Sorry you missed it. I would LOVE for Cassie to watch The Searchers, but I didn’t want to submit any film that had been requested a lot. I didn’t want it to be an easy choice. I feel confident… that There WILL be a Day when Cassie watches The Searchers. ;-)

Larry Darrell

Kevin, it's the subway/train scene.

Jason Jardine

I loved Adventures in Babysitting when I was a kid and I love it just as much as an adult! It is so much fun! Babysitting would be a fun series of movies. You could do Dennis the Menace and Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.

Kristen

I think there are two movies, the original 1987 with Elizabeth Shue, and then so weird rehash TV movie version. I was referring to the editing they did on the original, because they had it on Disney Plus when that platform launched. They dubbed over the subway scene in particular, which is what I was referring to.

Jason Jardine

So you’re a NO Babysitter kind of guy. That’s cool. :-)

Larry Darrell

No spoilers, but what's edited out?

Kevin Charley

:-) That’s Funny. I actually like My Favorite Wife more too. It was a toss up between the two. My chronological mind eventually won. So I chose The Awful Truth because it came first. My main mission was to introduce her to Irene Dunne anyways, and it’s certainly a terrific introduction. My hope was that if she watched it and liked it, then we could recommend My Favorite Wife, with the same cast and the director of the first producing the second. I also knew the Chance of either of them getting watched was slim. The only chance the two older films had was if she had chosen the title herself. The more titles that keep getting mentioned the better though. I mentioned in my emails with Cassie about maybe doing a Classic Comedy Or Classic Romantic Comedy Poll one day. That could be a big list. I also mentioned doing a Classic War Film Poll, too.

Larry Darrell

Steel Magnolias is genius. The rest of these films are pure nostalgia.

Author Travis Adams Irish

So glad you brought this up! I tried watching the Disney version awhile back and just thought it was an awful bastardization of the original. Apparently we're not the only ones since Amazon sells both versions as different products.

Art of Free Speech

Adventures In Babysitting is a Grade AAA, 100%, zero preservatives added movie for Cassie.

Mark Vaderr

I would categorize Desperate Journey as an Indiana Jones type of WWII Adventure.

Larry Darrell

Thankfully there's someone out there that understands. It's something so minor, but it's so irritating that they did that!

Jason Jardine

You got to sing the blues during your reaction to AIB.

Bert Towle

I informed her of this when I submitted the List. If it wins, she will be reminded again. According to the PopcornRequests site, this film is in her “Collection,” so hopefully not a problem. Shame on Disney.

Larry Darrell

Love the honesty. :-)

Larry Darrell

Congrats and great choices. Adventures in Babysitting is so fun. I agree, if you watch it try to find the unedited version.

Ian A

I must confess I like My Favorite Wife more than The Awful Truth, but you are right, Cary Grant and Irene Dunne were perfect together!

Mike LL

She’ll get there one day for sure. I know The Holiday (2006) is one of Cassie’s favorites, and I’ve always liked the comment about Irene Dunne having “Gumption.” And I’ve wondered if Cassie had ever been curious about what films might have been on the list that Arthur gave Iris. I like to believe it was either The Awful Truth (1937) or My Favorite Wife (1940) that Iris was talking about. The latter being another Cary Grant and Irene Dunne team up. They were perfect together. I feel like some us, you Mike included, are like Arthur now, giving Iris (Cassie) a long list of old movies that she has to see, and we know she will love them. It’ll happen One Day… In Time.

Larry Darrell

Thank you for the info. I always appreciate learning more about movies, any movies really. I shall have to seek that out. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

I love Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. Adding it to the app if I haven’t already👍

Cole Jennett

Jeez Larue.

Bill W

If Adventures In Babysitting pulls this out, please do not watch the Disneyfied edited version. I can remember being so excited to rewatch it on Disney Plus when that platform launched, only to find out it's a edited/dubbed version of the film in one very specific scene. The original was PG13 I believe and I hope that's the version you get to see. Call it nitpicking, but I really hated the edit.

Jason Jardine

Adventures In Babysitting....... HECK YES!!! That movie is a classic! One of my favorites growing up as a kid! You will love it Cassie, same with Carly if you bring her into the reaction lol! 😁😉👍🥰😇🙏🌹

Wesley White

Please review Dark Shadows. A vampire comedy based on the 1960s television show of the same name. Directed by Tim Burton, it starred Johnny Depp, Michael Phifer, Helena Bonham Carter, and Eva Green. Hilarious with great dialog.

Eyrdle eyrdle

Adventures in Babysitting is a fun ride with a couple of nice musical moments.

Eric Haefele

The Awful Truth is a pure classic

Jonathan Clem

The Awful Truth

thansen

OH, Adventures in Babysitting feels like a movie that was created for Cassie and Carly to watch. I am a cranky middle-aged dude, and I adore that flick.

Chris H.

My choice is 3rd place now lol but theres still time

Omar

Follow up Adventures in Babysitting with Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead for the Keith Coogan babysitting double feature. Also I *live* for the day you get to the classic "chick flicks" like Steel Magnolias, Terms of Endearment, and Fried Green Tomatoes

Godzilla Jones

I feel like this is the best chance Cassie has to ever watch THELMA & LOUISE and she could definitely do that movie with CARLY! Hoping it wins. For both Cassie and Carly's reaction to Brad Pitt's introduction to mainstream audiences alone, haha. They'll swoon!

Jason Dolan

The Awful Truth is one of the 10 best movies ever made.

David

I have a feeling you will really enjoy Adventures In Babysitting..and you should possibly watch it w/ Carly. :)

Michael Enos

Desperate Journey is one of two films where former President Ronald Reagan co-starred with Errol Flynn. The two got on well and President Reagan often called himself “The Errol Flynn of B Movies” It’s a good film and always fascinating to see successful war films that were made while the war was being fought. Sort of a “Primary Source” for what the country needed at the time. Thanks to Larry and Cassie for such great choices. Really tough to pick. 👍😊

Steve Holton

i just rewatched adventures in babysitting (1987) for my birthday and it was so good

diego kontarovsky

Steel Magnolias needs a lot more love!

Hunter DeRensis

Thelma & Louise (1991) is iconic. A movie that became part of the culture. Ridley Scott. Thelma: "I don't ever remember feeling this awake." Has a young and relatively-unknown Brad Pitt. He was not a household name. The Thelma & Louise movie jump-started his career.

Clay F

God, it depresses me to see such pitiful numbers for The Awful Truth. One of the best comedies I've ever seen.

Henry Graham

Oh, oh, oh...Adventures in Babysitting! Finally. Fingers crossed.

Mike Lemon

Totally agree!

Heidi H.

No spoilers!! Even saying that is saying to much.

brooke atkins

that was going to be my second choice, but I like your thinking!

Walter

Oh, sweet angel girls, I can't believe you have not seen Steel Magnolia's ! This is the one. I must add, Adventures in Babysitting IS an all time fave and you should also watch, but first... Steel Magnolia's IT IS!

Heidi H.

Steel Magnolias is great, but it will break your heart.

Raj K. Dixit

Adventures in Babysitting (the 1987 version, not the remake!) just for that opening credits musical sequence. Also there's a Marvel superheroes reference years before it was cool. :)

Paul Stelter

I have no horse in this race. Hope you enjoy whatever wins.

mikethemotormouth

There was a trivia night ??

Bill Maurer

I second top 3

Morgan A. Colbert

Oh please Adventure's in Babysitting!! I have been waiting for someone to react to that!

breanna

Even though I'd already seen her in THE KARATE KID, those opening credits made me fall in love with Elizabeth Shue as well.

Stick Figure Studios

You just have to do the top 3.

Jason Fulbright

Regarding babysitting: I´d prefer Baby´s Day Out (1994)

E. D.

Wow, that's quite a diversity of films! Desperate Journey really surprised me. You've seen its star Errol Flynn before in Adventures of Robin Hood. It's a melodramatic propagandic film. I'd much prefer Errol's excellent boxing film GENTLEMAN JIM, so I'm voting for Thelma and Louise. Looming forward to it.

Robert Jewell

With your personality, proper manners, and heartwarming relationship with your sister, it would be a real injustice to not watch Steel Magnolias. A sisters watch-along of this film is a must!

Rollo Tomassi

"... And then he kissed me!" :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Adventures in Babysitting is hilarious and will rejuvenate the scary movie blues quickly!

Allen W. McDonnell

You will love adventures in babysitting !

Neil Varma

Thank you! I’ve been asking for this movie for almost 3 years now. I know she’ll love it. But of course it won’t win. Adventures in babysitting is just a fun 80’s teen flick everyone loves including me.

brooke atkins

Thelma & Louise = Cassie & Carly?!? Let's find out!!!

Randolph Tirazona

Yes!!!

brooke atkins

Glad Adventures in Babysitting is in the lead. Love that movie. Cassie’s in for a treat with this one. When we watched it as kids it was called A Night on the Town. Not sure why it had a different name here in the UK though.

Luke Godfrey

When people go through the now long list of actors who have played two Marvel characters, they often forget that Kingpin and Thor have been performed by the same man.

Alex Ch

Thelma and Louise is one of my top requests. Ridley Scott!

SeanATX

If Thelma & Louise win, you've got to get Carly on board.

Jake McNulty

Steel Magnolias would HAVE to be a Cassie and Carly watch, you two would love it!

Adam Doyle

Thelma and Louise all day long. One of Ridley’s best.

Maxoutkast

I'm with @brook atkins! Cassie, you *need* to watch Steel Magnolias (the 1989 original, not the 2012 remake)! You will laugh, cry, and laugh some more. I'm a dude, and I love this "chick flick"!

Phil Stubblefield

'Steel Magnolias'..Cassie,please don't watch without Carly this is well within the 'C&C Wheelhouse' Got a box of tissues standing bye! ♡

Celeste McAllister

Oh yes seeing another Cary Grant movie go down in flames is going to make my day and my week! Thanks, Larry Darrell! Just kidding, Larry. Thanks for the pick. It gets my vote all the way! Cassie will get to see one of these great early Cary Grant films one day! (I suspect that Thelma and Louise will win the poll)

Mike LL

My choices are based on the fact that Steel Magnolias will go directly into your heart. The Awful Truth basically will make you giggle about being a girl. But hey, that's just me

JollymonSing

Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues.

Jason Pratt

The only one of these I have not seen is DESPERATE JOURNEY, so I can't really comment on it or vote for it. The other four are solid picks, but I'm going with my personal favorite among them : ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING. I'm confident you will enjoy that one.

Stick Figure Studios

Adventures in Babysitting was a core movie for me growing up. I was so in love with Elizabeth Shue. She’s in Cocktail as well, FYI

Cole Jennett

My choice won’t win cause it’s a total chick movie but Cassie you need to watch steel magnolias. You will love it. Only heard of 2 movies on here so I have to vote for my favorite of course 😝

brooke atkins

Thor!!!!! Lawl

Jon Johns

Got to be Thelma and Louise! What a film!!
