Practical Magic (1998) - Full Reaction

This may be my new Halloween tradition movie! I'm not sure how we've never seen this before. It was witchy and sister-ie, and fall-ie and spooky and we had the best time watching this together. Though it's not "scary" like some of the movies I've been watching, I hope you enjoy!

If you liked Aidan Quinn in this - aka, "The Guy who was in Legends of the Fall" - you might check him out in my personal favorite RomCom, "Benny & Joon" with Johnny Depp, Julianne Moore, Mary Stuart Masterson, Oliver Platt, William H. Macey - I feel like I am missing somebody. All-star cast to say the least.
It blows my mind that you've never seen it. It's the most "in your wheelhouse" movie I am aware of that you've not seen, and I am aware of a LOT of movies. If I'm incorrect and you have seen it, let me know so I can stop looking forward to eventually watching your reaction. I've been wanting to see it again for over a year, but I'm holding out to watch it with you guys :D

Um, I think maybe you put this on the wrong reaction. Cassie and Carly both loved this one.

Listen to Tara, Cassie. She knows what she's talking about. A magically romantic film. I also have to mention A Walk In The Clouds because when I have the chance, I must.

Well that was wonderful. It holds a special place in this house and seeing you two fall in love with it was so great.
Maybe Stockard Channing will show up again in Tender November. She plays a great role in Must Love Dogs, which I know you've been wanting to get to. Wait, have you seen The Lake House then? Another Sandy one that you will love if you haven't.
When you were dropping favorite Christmas movies I had the thought, do you consider Serendipity a Christmas movie. Christmas at the start, Christmas at the end. It gets heavy play in this house because even though it only has a bit of Christmas, it really brings the Christmas feels.

This is one of those movies that prove sites like rotten tomatoes shouldn't be relied on, this was not a favorite among critics and sadly did not do well at the box office, but as you can see it has a strong cult(😏) following and is a favorite to watch around this time of year.

Great Reaction Ladies. I remember this movie. I saw it a long time ago. Lots of fun. Welcome back Carly. I hope you can join Cassie more often. She has more fun when her sister is with her.

The director of this movie Griffin Dunne was the best friend in American Werewolf in London. The one with giggly neck piece. But loved the reaction. Haven’t seen this movie in years.

Quite frankly, THIS kind of reaction to THIS kind of movie is precisely why I'm a patron. I've always enjoyed this film, but watching it along with the two of you is a sublime joy. BTW, I'm all for a Nice November (or whatever you guys called it). There ARE still great movies you haven't watched which are tender and funny, or at least greatly romantic. Some Kind of Wonderful comes to mind, as does Officer and a Gentleman. Then there are films that are mixed genre like Crocodile Dundee, Coming to America, and Mr. Holland's Opus which, while not necessarily romantic, certainly fit in a Nice November.

I think she is slowly building up to it 😂, as she’s getting braver every year. I know we all find different things scary but I find the Exorcist a bit tame compared to The Conjuring films the second one really messed with my head lol.

Great reaction ladies I really thought you’d enjoy this one and I’m so happy you watched it with Carly with it being about two sisters. It was one I mentioned last year I was hoping you would watch but it doesn’t matter as you eventually got there. Really looking forward to Scream and The Lost Boys over the weekend.
If anyone is interested I’m doing a Horror comedy tournament on my Instagram account and the main movie tournament starts next week it @themovieguy76

This might surprise you but we all have different opinions if you look on IMDB that has a 6.3 out of ten Google Reviews has it as a 4.5 out of 5. So as you can see ratings are different because different people with different opinions are reviewing them. Personally I never really go on rating as I’ve seen plenty of movies with low rating I’ve enjoyed & lots with high one I thought where terrible. I tend to watch trailers if I’m not sure about a movie maybe you should give it a go.
What you have to understand she has to watch a range of different types of movies to try and suit everyone tastes. And imo she does a great job. It’s the same with me not everything Cassie watchers on here is for me but you have to respect that and please be respectful when your commenting it’s a great community on here and everyone doesn’t appreciate that type of language. Also I don’t think movies reviews are for you as you have to be a bit more constructive with your criticism.

This is one of the movies that always felt like it should be more widely recognized than it is...sisterhood, magic, dangerous love, hope, spectacular cast. Ah, well. Perhaps one day it shall be.

It was a fun reaction and nice to revisit this movie after almost two decades.
It kept bugging me throughout the movie, who played the eldest daughter, Kylie. She seemed so familiar. Looking it up on IMDB, it is 10-year-old Evan Rachel Wood!

I don’t know. The shining did so much damage I don’t think she’s coming back from that one. And Batman and the departed didn’t help her opinion of him. 🤣🤣

That is a cute movie. and having it on DVD made this easy for me. What can I say? I've always had a thing for Witches, especially when they're beautiful. You should watch The Witches of Eastwick; that's another fun movie with a great cast.

Directed by the actor Griffin Dunne? The movie had me right there in the credits. I had never seen this, but it was pretty good, my first Witch-Com. Rom-Witch? Witchever it was, it was pretty good.
Now all we need is a TikTok of Cassie and Carly running a knife across their palms, uniting their blood and their sisterhood! Too much?

The movies that end up on the channel are either selected via polling, or they are selected by Cassie, as this one was. Unfortunately, not every movie is going to be to everyone's liking, and that's ok. That's how the world works, that's why ratings such as the one you mentioned exist. In the case of this movie, I guess we can consider Cassie and Carly part of the 4.6 out of 10 you mentioned. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. Now that I have given you an answer to your question, let me ask you: Your profile indicates that you are not supporting any creators at this time. What has prompted you to comment on a page you don't participate in? At the time of my writing you have replied to a few responses to your original post and are reading my reply now- Why are you wasting your valuable time doing so? Life is short, my friend- go find something good for yourself. Enjoy life as best you can, even when faced with difficulty and opposition. Respect others and respect will come back to you. Always be humble, always be kind. And above all else, if you see something you don't like, go find something you do like. Best wishes to you and yours.

I knew this might be the perfect Halloween movie for Cassie & Carly, and now you see why it just had to be a sisters reaction. 😊
This is one of those instances, where I still remember watching the movie for the first time. We had a poor cable service when I was young, with only 10 channels and some of them were foreign (in German). I became interested in movies in the late 90s when I bought Star Wars and Indy on VHS, but had very limited options otherwise. Then in 2000 my parents upgraded to a satellite TV service and got us an HBO subscription as a surprise. That was a game-changer for me. We watched this movie on the first night and I enjoyed it a lot, even as a teenage boy whose main interest was sci-fi and action/adventure at the time. True 90s cheese. 😄
I was a bit surprised you haven't seen it before, but not as much as another Sandra Bullock movie that is not marked as watched: THE LAKE HOUSE (2006), with Keanu Reeves.

That was so much fun! I was getting ready for bed and saw that you'd posted this and had to stay up and watch it. I think I smiled through this entire reaction, so glad you both enjoyed it as much as I always have. So the other aunt(Jett) you'll see again in The Lost Boys. She plays the mom. She was also the mom on Footloose. Also a little trivia. In the margaritas scene they're all supposedly really drinking alcohol so, not too much acting there🤣
