Update

a I’m so sorry this is late “it’s been a real doozy of a week” The Live, sick husband, family pictures, my parents are visiting, and I was almost taken down by a horde of small children throwing a birthday party for my son!
We also hit up our first pumpkin patch of the season and it was lovely, but too hot. No one wants to be sweaty at a pumpkin patch!

This week we have witches and psychos and vampires oh my! Who loves Halloween and who is over it? I was feeling ok, but Scream was pretty tough for me 😵💀
We’ve still got The Burbs and IT so wish me luck! We will have a Trivia Winners Poll and A Rememberance Day Poll in November!
Thank you to all of you who came to the LIVE this past weekend, it was so fun as always, I’m just so grateful for this community!

For your Tender November you should consider "Places In The Heart" (1984) with Sally Field, John Malkovich, Danny Glover, and Ed Harris. Another good one is "Chocolat" (2000) with Jonny Depp, Juliette Binoche, and Judy Dench. And "Baby Boom" (1987) with Diane Keeton, Sam Shepard, and James Spader.

I enjoyed her Scream reaction. If she is watching 2017 IT, oh boy. May be the first movie she doesn't finish.

Or, she could wait 27 years and then watch Chapter 2. IYKYK :)

Not to be mean, but your average 6 yr. old can handle horror better than Carly.

I've seen so many horror films I'm pretty much jump scare immune. But on the rare occasion one gets me I always give it a "Nice!".
Richard Maurer
2023-10-20 14:46:37 +0000 UTC
Well The Thing stands above the norm anyway. I think The Shining gets more clout from Kubrick's name than it deserves. In general, mainstream director's don't make good horror films, they just get told they do.

To each his own. There are classic horror films and then there is this drek. "The Thing" and "The Shining" stand above it.

I love horror and I love October. I think this year the film choices on this channel have been incredible! Can't wait for all the horror that's still to come!

2023-10-19 17:19:58 +0000 UTC
That is true but they released them one year apart because of financial reasons. As far as the story is concerned it makes sense to watch them as close together as possible so as to not forget the details. I didn't even like the movies anyways, but I think waiting a year in between is a bad idea.

Agreed!! Scary is jump scare heavy but other than that not scary at all. Lol

I wasn’t complaining. I was answering her specific question, i.e. “Who loves Halloween and who is over it?”
Roger Hagerty
2023-10-19 15:23:41 +0000 UTC
Carly would loss her mind at scream lol so funny since scream isn’t really scary. Remember Carly couldn’t handle zodiac or the mummy. 2 very nonscary movies. She’d be out before the first 5 minutes.
brooke atkins
2023-10-19 15:20:38 +0000 UTC
Yep I wait 11 months for Cassie to watch scary movies and even then half of the month is filled with no scary movies cause she thinks she can’t handle it. Lol so sorry for people who don’t like horror but for many of us here this our Xmas. I’m not into Xmas or holidays movies but I would never come genre and complain about her watching Xmas movies cause I know that’s what a lot of people want. So sorry again but many of us are loving this.

Next year, if you want a scary, but not too scary movie, and are done with the Scream 2,3,4, etc.
I’d suggest Bubba Ho-Tep. In it Bruce Campbell plays Elvis Presley who’s stuck in a nursing home fighting a sort of mummy.

But not seeing..... Lost boys has a cult follow, but is not not fully my thing. But it is light and is the 80s, and I do love the 80s. so The others 80s Horror out there might be to heavy, so I get that. .And Screams actually not bad, if the original. But is it Friday or Halloween, or Freddy,,,, ugh,, close,,,,, but?

The quality dips - if you're not a horror fan. From my perspective it (generally) goes up.
Richard Maurer
2023-10-19 13:49:33 +0000 UTC
Difference is 2017 It is so much more aggressive. The Thing takes it's time building atmosphere. It, especially the remake, wastes no time spilling blood and racking up the body count.
mikethemotormouth
2023-10-19 13:49:07 +0000 UTC
I think we need Cassie to start rating horror films as to how "bad" they were for her to watch, just for perspective. I assume The Shining would be at the top of the list (for now), but how does Scream compare to Poltergeist, for instance. Since everyone is concerned about what is (or is not) too scary for her this might give some idea as to what we should recommend. Still what's scary to one isn't always scary to another. As I said in another post Scream is one of the least scary "horror" films I've ever seen.
Richard Maurer

One thing I would recommend if you’re going to watch the movie “IT”. Please make sure you watch both parts. No matter if you watch the original or the newer movies, I’ve seen too many reactors only watch the first part and skip the second. They both make up the whole story!
Rainbow Dash
2023-10-19 02:31:17 +0000 UTC
I was so disappointed with IT Chapter 2 after the fist one was so good as he played Pennywise so good. I think the original was done as a two part mini series when it was first aired. But I think on streaming it’s just one 3hr long TV movie.
Dean Holt
2023-10-19 02:06:11 +0000 UTC
I don’t know. It may help, but really really doubt it. A single clip of IT could be the whole reaction itself. lol

2023-10-19 01:19:06 +0000 UTC
Well I'm very happy you and Carly can relax with Practical Magic, that is a must every Halloween around here. I don't know where I was when the decision was made to watch Scream because I can see that one being a problem. Just don't torture yourself too much with all this mmkay?! Not to freak you, you'll be fine, everything is fine. But IT?!?! If you read this, for this one please watch some behind the scene clips, interviews before you tackle it. Normally I would say after, so you get the full effect of the film....but for this one, maybe before would be best.

IT? How did that even get on the list? I won’t even watch “IT” unless there’s it’s daytime, I have my Louisville Slugger in my hands, the movie sound is OFF and I’m surround by at least 10 of my closest family and friends.
Cassie, you’re not ready for IT. Trust me. 🥺🥺🥺

This is my favorite lineup so far! I'm super excited to see you and Carly watch Practical Magic. I've been waiting 3 years for that one! The Lost Boys is just a bunch of 80's fun. So Scream. . . I watched that for the first time when I was about 13. It was the horror movie that made me love the genre. It scared the crap out of me but, in a way that was still fun. I hope you had some fun with the mystery side of the movie. It's one of the most fun parts of the franchise. It's also more fun to watch in a group with friends. Everyone screaming at the scares then trying to figure out who the killer is in between. The pumpkin patch looks beautiful. I haven't had much time myself for anything. Work has been crazy with everyone sick and calling in so, I've been putting in a lot of extra hours. Hopefully the rest of October is fun for you and not to traumatizing.

SCREAM! My Home Town Horror! I live where it was filmed and worked at Bradley Video, the video store chain in the movie. At the end of the credits the director specifically DOESN’T thank my high school cuz they were going to film there and then the school changed it’s mind.

Growing up, I was not a big fan of scary movies, at least not until my teens. While watching Scream at 9 years old, one night, the power went out, right at a very key moment, and scared the ever loving ShiShhiss out of me. A Moment I will Never Forget.
Soooo excited for another movie mentioned coming up, so I'll just Toast Cassie and say as Bill & Bob Swerski and the Super Fans would say...

Looking forward to the Scream reaction, even if it wasn't a great experience for you. It IS a slasher film, but it spoofs the slasher films at the same time. It will be interesting to see if you caught on to that. Practical Magic and The Lost Boys? Never seen them before, so it will be interesting to see what you thought of those also.
Hope Ben is feeling better PDQ. For sure, stay out of hot pumpkin patches, just the idea makes me queasy! lol

No worries Cassie, gee you sure have been busy, sorry you've been through some stress! Family always comes first, sorry Ben is sick, hope he gets better soon! That picture of the pumpkin patch is nice, very pretty scenery, perfect for Autumn/Halloween lol! I'm still in the spirit of Halloween, always every October, I never get sick of it till the very end! As we speak I just finished watching two more horror/spooky themed movies, FROM HELL and HANSEL & GRETEL - WITCH HUNTERS, I recommend these for possibly next year! FROM HELL stars Johnny Depp, Heather Graham, Ian Holm, and Robbie Coltrane, based on the graphic novel and a somewhat fictional retelling of the infamous Victorian Era England serial killer Jack the Ripper! HANSEL & GRETEL - WITCH HUNTERS tells a unique spin on the story of Hansel & Gretel and what they did in their adult years after their first encounter with the witch in the Gingerbread House as children, stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, and Famke Jansen, a bit heavy on the gore, but a fun watch! Next I'll be watching UNDERWORLD and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (your full length reaction) lol! I'm looking forward to your reaction to SCREAM, that's gonna be a doozy lol, I've seen PRACTICAL MAGIC once in the theatre when it first came out and I haven't seen it since! I've never seen THE LOST BOYS but I do know what it's about and I've seen a few scenes from it and I know who's in it, so that's gonna be a real treat to watch it for the first time along side you lol! I really loved you and Carly's reaction to THE MUMMY, you two looked great in the matching tshirts I got you, I had so much fun participating in the premiere of that, I was laughing not only at the way you two were getting spooked in the reaction, but also how I blew your mind away in the chatroom about my knowledge of Egyptian culture and when I told you that I have the ability to memorize my favorite movies, including THE MUMMY, but also when I told you that I have all 3 LOTR extended cuts memorized, that was fun🤣 IT huh, I've never seen the Tim Curry version or this recent rendition of Stephen King's story, I've never seen THE BURBS, but I do know who's in it! Never heard of IDENTITY and I've never seen TUCKER & DALE vs EVIL, sorry lol! I always enjoy joining in chatting with you during any livestream you do, you're very welcome Cassie, sorry I didn't stick around for very long, work was calling lol, but spending a little time with you in the livestream was better than nothing, BTW I think you pulled off Daryl Hannah's look in SPLASH perfectly, very pretty lol! Love and support always, hope Ben gets better soon, you and Carly are the best, [virtual hug] God bless you, Carly and your family🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Hey Cassie, just remember we are so grateful for you too! You've changed so many of our lives and it's not about watching someone watch movies. It's about connecting with someone who connects with characters differently, offers a fresh perspective, and reminds us all of the good things in life and the good people that still exist. You've done so much for so many of us just by being yourself and that's the purest thing in the world.

Hope Ben feels better soon, don’t have to apologise as it’s fully understandable. Looks like another great trio of movies. Practical Magic and The Burbs would be fine for Carly if she has time. If Scream was bad for you good luck with IT especially if it’s the 2017 version. But I’m definitely looking forward to The Lost Boys one of the movies I always watch this time of year.

Sounds like you’re having quite the week.
Hope things start to calm down a little so you can catch your breath. Hope Ben’s feeling better as well.
Did you say you’re gonna watch It? 😳
JK…I think you‘ll be fine
Have a great week Cassie!

Everyone wants to know: which version of "It"? The old one, or the newer one? If it's the newer one, it's in 2parts, you'll be left unsatisfied if you skip chapter 2 😭

All 3 are entertaining. I think you’ve watched enough horror movies to get Screams meta commentary so I’m looking forward to it! I can see Lost Boys being your fave tho 😁
