Identity (2003) - Full Reaction

Psychological THRILLER!! This was scarier than I thought it would be! Twisty and turny and I kept waiting for it to click for me and it was driving me crazy (in a good way)! Hope you enjoy!

if you're a Cusack fan, you have to check out High Fidelity and 1408...which would've been a good Halloween one. But I like this movie a lot. Havnt seen it in a minute. Looking forward to this! Thnx

pkleo73

Wild dream she mentions in the intro. >:]

RabidMango

That is well worth watching. Among a few other adaptations.

thansen

Great Reaction Cassie. You made it through the freaky movie. It was a real mind screw. If you do watch it again. Do it with Carly. 😋 She would pass out.

Rick Williams

This movie reminded me of a couple of movies. Motel Hell (1980) classic horror. Or Eaten Alive (1976) that alligator movie directed by Tobe Hooper who was a master of horror. You probably have seen The Mexican, I briefly mentioned in the letter I sent. The Father with Anthony Hopkins is good one. There are a ton of movies. I just need to think about it. Like True Romance. Not really all that tender but still. Bobby (2006) . That was a bunch of subplots leading to the big plot. Regarding Henry (1991) with Harrison Ford. I loved that one.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

No happy endings, Cassie. No happy endings EVERRRRRRR!!

Keith Jacobsen

Secondhand Lions for a tender November movie!

Chris Arthur

This movie is awesome. I always forget how much I like it. If you like John Cusack, then you have to do Grosse Point Blanke which has a hitman returning to his High School reunion with an incredible Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting). Also 1408 a mindbending thriller horror by Stephen King.

pinkdino99

It would be great if you watched "And Then There Were None" which is the Agatha Christie story referenced in this movie. The BBC made a version a few years ago that was great. It had Sam Neill (Alan from Jurassic Park) and Charles Dance (who you may not know but is amazing).

DWeber

Glass was terrible. Split was good though.

warcrimes

I heard you got a new fridge.

warcrimes

Really enjoyed this reaction. First time I watched this movie the twist ending got me too. Now that you’ve seen this type of thriller please tell me you’re going to watch ‘Split’ starring James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy soon? Ever since you watched Unbreakable I’ve been crossing my fingers you’d watch the other two movies too (Split and Glass). 🙏🏻

Luke Godfrey

Seen you upload a reaction to a movie called "Identity"? no idea. so I looked it up and seen who directed and the actors in it and I thought to myself, why haven't I ever heard of this movie? I consider myself a movie buff? So I buy it on Prime, watch it for the first time, then immediately watch your reaction to it. my first time watching, toward the end, I thought I for sure guessed the ending. when Timothy's dad said he was actually his "step dad, and the is real father left" or whatever, he was vague on that, so I assumed the boy's Dad was the killer on trial. and that the "Psycho gene" so to speak was passed down biologically to him and that this little boy was the least obvious person to be the killer. So when I was watching it all fold out and the twist was something different, and it was going to be a happy ending, I was the opposite of you, I was kind of disappointed and thought MY ending where the kid did it, was better. then they double twist us and my ending came true in the last 30 seconds? Totally blew my mind! PS. Before you started, you said it was raining outside, I thought "Perfect!" lol

Mister Lou

Yeah. I hated it for all the reasons I love Logan. The tone is just all wrong. The movie is a meaningless bummer.

djKENTO

For a really underrated John Cusack film, I recommend the neo-noir/crime drama “Ice Harvest.” PS: If you do “Tender November”, I highly recommend “The World’s Fastest Indian.” It’s a true story starring Anthony Hopkins.

Just Plain Bob

At the end you couldn't find Ben and he didn't answer the phone because he's just your other personality! He's not real! 😂😉

Canadianant

I'm going to guess Indiana Jones 5? I haven't seen it yet but not sure I want to. Love all the other movies though, except Knight and Day which I thought was meh.

Oisin Clissmann

You know, I had forgotten all about that final twist or perhaps never saw it to begin with. But, that kid was looking suspect from the get go. Never trusted him. Good luck the rest of the way Cassie, you have definitely stepped it way up this year but don't let yourself have too many nightmares. If something freaks you out too much, just watch a 5 minute behind the scenes clip and see behind the curtain. It might help calm the mind down.

Erik Daniel

Loved this reaction. I remember seeing this movie when it came out in theaters and I was so lost as well until the last few minutes. It takes a lot from an Agatha Christie novel "And Then There Were None" aka "Ten Little Indians." The even reference in the movie. Highly recommended read if you get a chance. Also for next October I think you should watch 1408. Its another psychological thriller with John Cusack.

Blake Evans

This was really great. I think I got the major twist about an hr in, though there was so many other twists. Really fun movie. Thanks for the videos!

Ian A

My fridge does the same. LG brand refrigerators should be in the credits now as a character at the end 😂

Omar

This was fun, thanks Cassie. With actress Piper Laurie just passing away now would be a great time to watch the scary movie Carrie from 1976 for October.

Gideon James

SO GLAD you watched this one! It's one of my very favorites. And that poem is terrifically creepy.

China Andronicus

There is another movie that has been mentioned a few times on this channel, that I hope Cassie will see at some point: "And Then There Were None".

ArsTropica

+1

Grad

Tender November - Message In A Bottle. Romantic drama with Kevin Costner, Paul Newman and Robin Wright!

Walter

I'd love to see her react to the GRUMPY OLD MEN movies, but I'd like to see her react to the original ODD COUPLE with Matthau and Lemmon first. It's not absolutely necessary, but that movie is still better and funnier than the other two and it enhances them too.

Stick Figure Studios

Grosse Point Blank! Fantastic movie. Also starring Minnie Driver (from Return To Me).

Walter

I have an editing suggestion: for full reactions could you not have the outro music over your summary? Only because it's nice to listen to you talk about the movie over the end credits, which already have music. Just an idea. Obviously it makes sense on the YT edit but personally I think you don't need outro music on the full reaction. Thanks!

Odd Thomas

FOREVER YOUNG is a good pick too!

Gábor Árki

Yes to the 2 Grumpy Old Men movies. I’ve been hoping for those for awhile. Someone will say she has to do the “Odd Couple” but they play just fine without

Cole Jennett

I second the Hundred Foot Journey, and would like to add Forever Young with Mel Gibson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and young Elijah Wood (Frodo)

Cole Jennett

Fantastic editing job by Ben in the outro, like a mini horror movie! 😄

Mike LL

I'm sorry to hear about your loss brother. I'm sure she made you a better person. My Moms friend has a son with down syndrome and as Shia said about his friendship with Zack, being around him softens you. You become a better person. When she watches that film, I hope she dives into some of the interviews and appearances with Shia and Zach. Their friendship brings me so much hope and joy. Just a beautiful thing.

Erik Daniel

COPLAND is especially good. My favorite Mangold movie, like it better than LOGAN or any of the others. Stallone is so good in that understated role.

Mike LL

No, Cassie, the name of the movie was not Happy Orange Grove! 😂 What a delicious reaction. More psychological thrillers for scary season, I enjoyed that a whole lot more than a normal horror movie. Wish I could think of more examples! LOL Dig a hole in the ground and hide? I don't think so, not in the rain, one would die of exposure. But a natural reaction to get out of the situation. This was the perfect horror movie for Cassie, where the killer was the one character that Cassie was most concerned about.

Mike LL

I pictured her as Arnold from Predator lol. Minus the war cry. Just the mud and the hiding hah.

Erik Daniel

Untamed Heart is such a good movie!

Nick Ireland

This is a fantastic reaction! I was curious about how Cassie would handle this movie, because I assumed this might be a bit more challenging for her, but also a very rewarding one. And she nailed it! I was careful not to spoil anything for her in my comments, and I'm happy that others did the same, because this movie is best enjoyed without any prior knowledge. It's basically a supercharged murder mystery that manipulates the viewer's assumptions in a clever way, but without feeling deceptive or misleading. It is a true 🤯🤯🤯. I even like the final twist at the end and think it fits very well. And knowing all along it was "poor, sweet" Timothy just made the reaction even more fun. But Cassie, don't think this movie didn't fool us too during the first time, just like you. For Tender November I already provided my top suggestion, STARDUST (2007). I think both you and Carly would enjoy it very much. Another feelgood movie, THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY (2014). Also, have another idea: Popcorn Sweethearts. Many have been mentioning some romcoms, so my suggestion is creating a poll featuring romcoms from all of Cassie's favorite leading man. Some ideas: - Harrison Ford: WORKING GIRL (1988) - Michael J Fox: DOC HOLLYWOOD (1991) - Keanu Reeves: A WALK IN THE CLOUDS (1995), LAKE HOUSE (2006) - Kevin Costner: TIN CUP (1996) - Brendan Fraser: BLAST FROM THE PAST (1999)

Gábor Árki

Just to tie some things together at an entertainment industry level: George was played by John C. McGinley. McGinley also played the Police commander that Agent Pappas, played by Gary Busey, punches in the face in "Point Break" - a movie Cassie reacted to not too long ago. The convict in the jump suit was played by Jake Busey who is Gary's son. Amanda Peet, who played the girl who wanted the orange grove, is an excellent actress, and figures prominently in the comedy "The Whole Nine Yards" - a movie Cassie MUST get around to someday. Probably my favorite Bruce Willis movie, but largely carried by Matthew Perry, aka, Chandler from friends. Another palette cleanser (or two) that would be great for November, or maybe even December, since they are set around Christmas, are the two Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau movies from the mid nineties, the delightfully hilarious (and somewhat RomCommy) "Grumpy Old Men" and "Grumpier Old Men" - two movies I guarantee will jump into her S tier when she hands out her awards.

David Collins

Grosse Pointe Blank is my favorite John Cusack movie. Cassie is going to like that one if she ever gets around to it. I know Cassie has seen it, but I really like Serendipity too. Don't tell anyone. I can't let that get out, it'll ruin my reputation. But Kate Beckinsale, I mean OMG. Speaking of Kate Beckinsale, we have to figure out how to get Cassie to circle around to the Underworld IP somehow. It seems to me, October is the only time that might be doable.

David Collins

The first time I watched this i absolutely loved it, just like yourself I knew something wasn’t right and I just couldn’t figure it out. But I never saw the twist coming. I really thought Ben was messing with you at the end 😂. I’m also very intrigued and also looking forward to, when you’ve said more scarier things to come. But a few suggestions for next month if you’ve not already seen them. But they are more like feel good movies Chef (2014), The Bucket List, The Blind Side, Ray, The Wedding Singer, Fanboys (2009), Fighting with my Family, Eddie the Eagle, Hustle, The Art of Racing in the Rain and Dead Poets Society. I really now can’t wait for you Tucker and Dale Vs Evil reaction I always watch it in October with the a number of other horror/Halloween type movies. But it’s going to be great seeing what you thing especially as it’s also got a bit of cute romantic story in it as well.

Dean Holt

Add me to the list of those with a soft spot for the original It. Granted, it’s super corny, but you have to accept that with Stephen King… dialogue not a strength IMHO. But I must admit, I always had a thing (not THE Thing) for Annette O’Toole.

Shaun Stuart

where's Cassie? i don't know... check the mud.

pat on

Excellent! I suggested this one, like a couple yeas ago…so I’m totally taking credit. Of course, I’m never happy with anything that DOESN’T have a twist (preferably dark) at the end. 😀 Oh! And also re-suggesting 10 Cloverfield Lane!! All the best!! PS — As far as I know, nobody else has done a reaction to this movie. I’ll bet it’s going to get some play now that you’ve covered it. You ARE the best!

Shaun Stuart

So glad this ended up being a movie you decided to react to, I've loved it for a long time. I have a couple suggestions for "Tender November": First I'd recommend a movie called Big Fish. While it's one of director Tim Burtons films, it breaks the mold of what people tend to put his movies in, but also I think it's one of his best. The other recommendation is a much lesser know little Indie flick called The Station Agent, it's kind of a little slice of life sorta movie, but I think it's quirky but pretty charming and a feel good time

BJ Stephens

Awesome movie, glad you liked it - loved it when you kept saying “poor Timothy!” 😄 Another great John Cusack film if you like his work is Grosse Pointe Blank!

Kit Thomas

Mangold has such a wildly varied filmography. This, Ford V Ferrari, Logan, Day & Knight, 3:10 to Yuma, Girl Interrupted and Indiana Jones 5… and I only dislike one of them. Can you guess which?

djKENTO

Great thriller, so original and I love the score. Other great Cusack movies are Grosse Point Blank (it's a rom-com so right up your street!) and another spooky thriller, 1408 (based on a Stephen King short story)

Odd Thomas

In you're in the mood for another scary phychological thriller (with some poignant dramatic elements) I would highly recommend Jacob's Ladder, which served as inspiration for the Silent Hill video game series. It's a bit of a genre blend (drama, thriller, horror, mystery), which might be why it's often not included in horror movie reactions – but it's definitely worth a watch. Angel Heart is worth checking out too, as another good mystery/horror movie.

Hans Olav Sletnes

They both are great movies. Case 39 is underrated.

Eddie Perkins

What a crazy movie! I didn't see that coming. It has that Sybil meets Psycho meets Fight Club feel; I actually did like the ending. I need to watch it again. You need to watch Jacob's Ladder (1990) and Angel Heart (1987), and The Devil's Advocate (1997) is also good,

Eddie Perkins

How about an Oscar winner poll of 3 winners from the '30s, 4 from the '40s, 5 from the '50s, 6 from the '60s, etc? Watch the winner from one decade one day each month. You'd get to see some new legendary stars, see a few firsts - like the first rom-com to win ('34). You've already seen 8 or 9 of the 50 winners over those decades.

Bert Towle

This was a great movie. Never seen it before but had heard great things and they were all true. Sorry to disagree with you Cassie but I loved the ending. I did kinda start to suspect the kid halfway through lol then I thought nah he wouldn’t be strong enough to do all that. I know you love your happy endings but this ending was so great it shocked me and made me laugh in a weird way. Enjoyed the live earlier. Excited for scream and it although the original holds a special place in my heart so I kinda wish you would’ve watched that one first plus it’s way less scary than the remake. But the remake is great too so either way it’s a win. Great reaction once again.

brooke atkins

This is kind of movie that make me big fans of thriller movie..keep guessing left and right and by the end of the movie you still got it wrong because of unexpected twist.. i hope you watch split with james mcavoy.. have similar theme exploring DID..i know both movie not correctly potrayed what DID is, but still fun to watch..other movie with big twist i can reccomend is case 39, devil, and 10 cloverfield lane

Agus Waskito Aji

LOGAN!! :) (I didn't see those other movies) That's how I knew his name when I saw it on my screen!

Philip Alan

A great tender movie for you to watch would be The Peanut Butter Falcon. I would be very surprised if you've seen that. I know you have a sister who is special needs. This movie stars Shia Lebouf and Zack Gottsagen who is the first ever lead to have down syndrome. My sister also had Down syndrome, until she unfortunately passed the year this movie came out. She loved it and I know you will too. The movie came out a few years ago and takes place present day and is a super wholesome modern Mark Twain style southern tale. It also has Dakota Johnson in it if you are a fan of her. It's sooo good.

shaneth138

WHOA! 😯 I noticed something watching along this time that I completely missed the first time around. When Ed and Rhodes shoot eachother, Rhodes mouths the words "I didn't do it." and Ed mouths "I know." Interesting. It's like they were trying to tell us the whole time similarly like in The Sixth Sense, Shutter Island, or Prisoners I've got a suggestion for a potential "Tender November" reaction. Untamed Heart (1993) with Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei. An underrated romantic drama that'll make you smile and bring tears to your eyes. 😁

Zane From Canada

I also saw this in the theater with zero knowledge of what it was about. That was fun.

Stick Figure Studios

That is a great movie.

Stick Figure Studios

IDENTITY is definitely one of those movies that works best when you go into it knowing absolutely nothing about it and plays even better on rewatch when you pick up on all the clues you missed the first time. I saw it in the theater with no foreknowledge whatsoever so I had no expectations and just loved it. It's true that for much of its running time it doesn't seem to make any sense until that mind-blowing climax that goes all the threads together in a surprising way. It's sort of a variation on the Agatha Christie mystery TEN LITTLE INDIANS where all the strangers end up at the house one night and start getting killed off one by one. Great cast too. John Cusack gives another brilliant performance in the rain (if you look at his filmography, you'll notice that's a turning theme), Ray Liotta (RIP) does his usual good job of playing enigmatic characters and the actress that looked familiar to you is Amanda Peet. An underseen gem of a film directed by James Mangold, who for the most part is a pretty reliable filmmaker. He did FORD V FERRARI and 3:10 TO YUMA. He also did one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen (LOGAN), the Johnny Cash biopic WALK THE LINE, the terrific cop drama COP LAND (starring Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta again), the fifth Indiana Jones movie and a nice romantic comedy with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman that I think you would enjoy (KATE & LEOPOLD). If you're looking for a tender movie for November, I would recommend that one. Great reaction as always, Cassie. I particularly liked your outro. Keep up the good work. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

A pretty reliable director for the most part.

Stick Figure Studios

I did love the ending. It made it better that for most of the movie you were commenting on how adorable the kid was. 🤐

Nathan Benefield

Hey Cassie. A Tender movie for tender November that you haven't seen. Lars and the Real Girl with Ryan Gosling. I promise you and Carly will LOVE IT!

rakesh

From director James Mangold, you saw his movies Ford vs Ferrari and 3:10 to Yuma on the channel.

Choof

Mad respect for you going out on a limb this October.. lord knows I won't do it. I am what is most commonly known as a "scaredy-cat" where horror films are concerned. :P So ya, respect for you hanging it out there, just make sure you keep your sanity in the process. ;)

Andrew Rose

seeing this one in the theatre made for quite the experience, plus the cast is star-studded; it’s one of those movies where everything changes upon rewatch

JL_83

Absolutely love this film! Never saw it coming!

Jerrod Acree

Tender November? I love it! I just mentioned one in your collection called A Walk In The Clouds with Keanu Reeves. Beautiful film. Or One Fine Day with Clooney and Pfeiffer. The Peanut Butter Falcon? All very Tender. So many more but that's a good start.

Erik Daniel

I bought a physical copy off Amazon when you announced it. It got here today and I went to put it in the collection… already owned it and missed it when looking the first time. Gonna put the extra in my neighborhood free library.

djKENTO

How can you sleep with those giant hairy spiders above your bed? 🕸️🕷️😱🕷️🕸️

ArsTropica

Underrated Gem!

Wes

the thing about scaredy cats is that you're your own worst enemy. makes for great reactions, so it isn't wholly terrible

Wu Sha Ling

Loved this movie when it first came out, I really liked the way it keeps you guessing. Nice cast as well.👍

Danny (Icarus)

Woohoo! Excited for this one!
