Hello foolish mortals!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, and before you ask, yes we have Thanksgiving, yes it's in October, and yes we celebrate the Harvest and have lots to be grateful for haha! Hope all my Northern friends are enjoying their day of thanks!
How is October already a week over? I haven't even pumpkin patch-ed once yet! ;) I did spend a night with girlfriends in Park City Utah and it was stunning up there and it was nice to get away for a night-even though we didn't get to bed until 3am and up at 8AM for a hike....when you are all moms you gotta get all your talking and chatting in one night apparently! We have family pictures tomorrow, so wish my family luck, godspeed!
This week is going to be FUN!! Check out our Friday 13th spesh with a DOUBLE FEATURE YT NIGHT!! Thanks for the idea and help James! It should be vvvv fun....and gross haha!

Horror is a bad genre overall, where very few movies have any artistic value to them. Or any cultural signifigance. "Get Out" is a rare exception. Mostly it's just jumpscares and gore, zero message, which only appeals to teenage edgelords. Most horror movies are trash, compared to any other film genre, there's incredible amount of low quality trash. Dedicating a whole month to it is unnecessary, dedicate a month to something better if you need a whole month for one genre. Like "October of Oscar nominated dramas". To find worse acting and scripts than horror genre overall, only place you find it... is in porn

Just pointing out that the whole concept of "Scary October" is moronic. Go to horror channels. Seeking the most innocent seeming reactors on entire YouTube and starting to request horror films seems sadistic to me. By sadism I mean that they are after cheap laughs, nothing more. Horror is not for everyone, mostly it's for teenage edgelords anyway, or people stuck in that age. Most horror movies are pointless jumpscares, or gore for the sake of gore. Stating that it's "only movies" is also moronic, if you can handle "The Fly" just fine doesn't mean everyone can. People have different thresholds. For someone it will be like seeing "A Serbian Film" (which I don't suggest to anyone, sadly I have seen it and I wish I could unsee it). Anyone who says "A Serbian Film" is just a movie that won't do anything to your mind, is simply missing a piece. It's clear that they are sensitive AF, Carly especially, no adult I know of would cover their eyes in goddamn Die Hard, females included. Or maybe it's an act, but forcing people like this watch genuine horror movies is beyond stupid. And people NEVER disrespect me IRL (probably because I'm a bodybuilder) but online it happens all the time, funny. "Your statement is silly and unnecessary". He simply would not say that IRL, not in that way. I know, because it never happens. I didn't mean I would beat his ass for saying it (I'm not a moron) I just claimed he wouldn't say it to my face in that tone... because he wouldn't. IRL works very very differently, people suddenly have a basic respect for other people's views, even if they disagree. Online all that goes out the window.

From your post it comes across that you don't think much of horror films (or those who enjoy them) and that's fine - for you. But those of us that are true fans of horror aren't looking for comedies, action films, and children's fare, all with watered down horror elements. I've said all along if Cassie really doesn't want to do this she should just quit, I'd be disappointed but I'd understand and support her. But as long as she does continue I will vote for the best movies that she and her team decided were okay for the poll. Oh, by the way, calling people "sadists" is not the best way to engage people you're trying convince of your position.

But it's not okay for The Fly, which lost by one vote, because it's a horror movie? Many people already put horror down as being less than other genres, we don't need to do that to ourselves.

Cassie is obviously not a horror person, why force someone to watch horror. Is it a form of sadism? People who push these horror films into PiB are after cheap laughs, nothing more. At least in "Platoon" the purpose of watching something deeply unpleasant was learning about real American history, and that Vietnam War was a nasty war where frustrated US soldiers were unfortunately guilty of war crimes. In horror, what is the purpose? Even dumber is that some people encourage Carly to join in for movies like "The Fly" or "The Thing". She seems like the type even less. Part of the charm of the channel is that C&C are sweet, sensitive kind of people. But for how long they remain like that, if you force them to watch the worst of horror movies 1 month every year? Not for long. That charm is eroded, one horror movie at a time. Cassie has already seen more horror movies, than I have seen in my entire life. My girlfriend would NEVER watch anything like "The Thing" or "The Fly", and I would NEVER force her, just for my own laughs or whatever. There's many reaction channels devoted completely to horror, why not go there? Forcing that stuff on PiB girls is just a form of sadism. You find it amusing that some people are so sensitive, and want to "teach them a lesson" or something like that... I see no other motivation, why would you force someone to do something they clearly don't enjoy, unless their apparent suffering is your enjoyment...

Movies don't traumatize people no matter what anyone else here may think. But the theme of the month is "Scary But Not Too Scary," THE FLY obviously doesn't fit that, and people are demanding it anyway. She was willing to try, it had its chance with the poll (and I voted for it by the way), but it came up short. So either she decides to watch it anyway, or doesn't. It's not a big deal either way. And neither is my earlier comment any kind of a big deal. And neither was yours. Say what you want, I don't take offense and I don't care. If people want to stamp their feet and insist another movie she's gonna hate be watched, they can withstand the very mild chiding of my comment. Much like watching THE FLY itself, they can hate it all they want but it won't traumatize them. Peace.

2023-10-11 08:26:57 +0000 UTCAs much as I love THE FLY and think it's a brilliant film, and as much as I think the idea of being "scarred by movies" is mostly a bunch of crap, if our host doesn't want to watch a movie then she shouldn't watch it. Don't let people crying about losing a poll change your mind! Watching movies communally, more than anything else, is about enjoyment. And for me there are few things more obnoxious than a group of friends sitting down deciding what to watch and one of them is pushy and insistent and just always has to watch what they want and won't compromise and eventually bends the group to their will, and then sit there happy as hell to be forcing their friends to watch something and remain totally oblivious that several friends sit there bored and pissed off and get nothing out of it. We got THE THING, which I never thought would happen, and while our host didn't seem thrilled with it she was a trooper and "survived" it and didn't end up hospitalized like some seemed to think would happen...but come on, a little give and take people. Some variety here. Demanding THE FLY for an explicitly stated "Scary But Not Too Scary" theme is a bit disingenuous, no?

I I'm so happy that ARACHNAPHOBIA won. It may not be a great film, but it is a good one and despite what people have told you it is scary, but it's scary in that thrilling and fun way. Not in that dark, disturbing and gross way. It's also very funny. I think you will have a lot of fun with that one. IDENTITY is an underseen gem. Not a horror movie, but a marvelously atmospheric and creepy suspense-thriller mystery with more than a few surprises along the way. I'm very curious to see your reaction to that one. And, as I've said before, DALE AND TUCKER is more of a clever horror comedy spoof/satire like ZOMBIELAND. I can see you enjoying that one too. I Looking forward to this week. It is offered, at least in the US, to Premium YouTube members ad-free and to other users with some ads here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57KIrQmotl4 JustWatch.com does not always have complete information on the films available to stream on the YouTube platform, so it gets missed sometimes and people rent or purchase the film for streaming without needing to.

My favourite thing as a kid was jumping into big piles of leaves after the chore of raking them up at my cottage. It was especially fun watching our dogs jump and burrow through the leaf piles.
