Halloween Lite Poll

Let’s get started with a more fun “scary but not too scary” TM  movie or two shall we?

Remember I have already seen Shawn of the Dead, Warm Bodies, Addams Family, Sleepy Hollow, Hocus Pocus, Young Frankenstein!

Comments

It's such a cute and charming movie. Alexandra Dahlström (Elin) and Rebecka Liljeberg (Agnes) are top notch. Ralph Carlsson (Agnes dad) and Erica Carlsson-Kronholm (Jessica - Elin's sister) is also perfect 🥰🥰🥰

Björn Karlsson

GREAT!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 You will like that movie 😊😊😇😇 Hehehe btw... The gif I have as a display image, that's Elin from the movie. 🥹🥹🥹

Björn Karlsson

Sure

Robbie

Maybe I'm missunderstanding here Robbie. 🤔🫣 Are you saying that you will react to Show me love/Fcuking Åmål?????? 😇😊😁

Björn Karlsson

Same

Robbie

Scream is more a drama/satire comedy

Robbie

I will react to it on my channel. I started reacting to films but I have not posted yet because I’m teaching myself the hideous editing.

Robbie

James you got a Facebook? Love to talk ball with ya.

William Bryan

We've had a DOOOZY of a day!

YG

First half of the best movie I ever saw, second half of the worst movie I ever saw.

Story Archer

I know I'm too late and it's not on the poll, but I have to recommend Trick 'r Treat (2007) for "Halloween Lite" because it is the PERFECT Hallowe'en-themed movie and scary-but-not-too-scary.

Rod Reavern

Came in an impressive second in the poll. Zombieland (2009) won by a decent margin, as you can see.

Clay F

Ah damn, only just subbed and i missed a vote involving Tucker and Dale vs Evil, such a funny movie

Gipsy Undead

"Happy Death Day"! Can't believe I didn't think to suggest that. Should obviously be followed up with "Happy Death Day 2U". Fun horror/romance comedies.

Jeffery Parks

I hope you can work in "The 'Burbs." Funny movie. Stars Tom Hanks and additional big names.

RandyCC

I agree with you, about the issue. However I also find it kind of amusing just how redundant it is for every web site to have three "w"s at the start.

Thoko

Well, if she ends up reacting to it, you can skip that one.

Bill W

MLB who? Hockey is in preseason and there's football! 😁 I think Slap Shot or The Longest Yard (1974). (Go O's!!)

Mike H

Are we going to try and squeeze in a baseball movie during the playoffs... before Halloween? I'm really hoping to see Cassie react to Eight Men Out.

Bill W

You might like Little Shop of Horrors.

Clint Patac

Newby here. Would love to see the Omen. Also enjoy foreign horror a lot but I know I was only lucky with Train to Busan. The Host by the way if it matters is a wonderful movie.

Jo

In the "scary but not too scary" stakes, I'd like to offer a write-in vote for The Host (2006).

Henry Graham

I like Zombieland and I'm still surprised that it's winning by the margin that it's winning by.

Bryan Fritchie

Army of Darkness; campy, silly, Carly level scary, laugh out loud Halloween fun. Then you can watch the series Ash vs the Evil Dead.

Evil Darth Carl

Zombieland is a good movie - scariest part is Amber Turd's acting...

John Liebling

I was pleasantly surprised to see Dale and Tucker vs. Evil on the poll. I would strongly recommend it any any horror/comedy fans. It would be perfect for Cassie because one of her greatest fears is "misunderstandings"! She'll be equal parts laughing and scared!

Barry Justice

During the pandemic I had some friends recommend a few horror movies to me as I'm not a horror fan. I didn't get too far down the list. I did watch The Exorcist, which I had read so much about the making of, the movie magic of it all was gone. The crucial climatic scenes never terrified me. I also saw The Omen which was also good. The Exorcist is very atmospheric and creepy. The Omen was super tense, but I don't remember being scared. A real surprise was called Lights Out (2016). That had a few good jump scares in it and I enjoyed the plot.

ContrabandDonut

@ Brent - you know, I've mentioned Scream not being scary many times before and have never had anyone disagree with me about that, so I guess there's a first time for everything. I'm sorry but to find Scream scary you'd have to have the fear threshold of a 8 yr old. So I guess Carly might be scared a little but at this point I doubt if Cassie will - she's seen much scarier movies than Scream. Seriously, the killer in Scream is literally a joke. I mean I guess there are a few cheap jump scares or something, but I honestly don't remember what was supposed to be scary in that movie because.....nothing scared me in that movie. I know a lot of people love this movie for some reason, but sorry, I didn't like it the first time I saw it and like it even less now.

Richard Maurer

Lake Placid was 1999 not 1992

Brandon Notsch

Scream may not be scary to you, but everyone has a different threshold. No doubt in my mind scenes in Scream will give Cassie and hopefully Carly a good fun scare.

Brent Petty

Greatest. Cameo. Ever.

Brent Petty

Breakdown is a KR film that never gets any love. I really liked it though.

Brent Petty

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Cole Knight

Yeah..... I saw Scream back in the days, and I think I was not impressed. The Mummy is great, but not scary at all. But they are popular and they are in the category "has-to-do-movies". I'm OK with that, but I see your point 🙂

Björn Karlsson

I 've always preferred Tucker and Dale ;-)

Richard Maurer

Horror season on this channel is always bittersweet for me. I'm not even expecting a full on month of horror films either. I start out with the hope we'll be getting something a little edgier for a least one of the slots only to find out The Mummy and (apparently) Scream are on the list to be watched, while a true gem of a movie like The Thing has to fight to even be considered. The Mummy's not even a horror movie and Scream, while technically a horror movie, isn't even slightly scary. Well, at least I have KatWatchesHorrorMovies to look forward to.

Richard Maurer

Haha yeah, it's very very slim. But, as I said. I support some other channels. I'm planning on a PM to a certain reactor and I think she/he will be curious. Because this movie had an HUGE impact in a certain way and I guess she/he doesen't know that. 😁

Björn Karlsson

@ Björn Karlsson - not to be a downer but the chance of that film getting watched on this channel was always very slim - next to none in fact. You would be better off trying channels like Cinebinge or Cinema Rules that tend to be a little more risk taking in their movie choices. Even if it made a poll here (which is unlikely) it wouldn't win, considering the safe choices the patrons here make. I can also say without doubt in my mind that it would never make a poll on channels like Natalie Gold or Awkward Ashleigh (Burton) as all the better known reactors (along with their patrons) don't ever really push beyond what's popular either. But if you do move on I wish you luck in your slightly mad quest. I hope somebody reacts to that F-ing movie someday.

Richard Maurer

There are many movies worse than Human Centipede. The premise (which most people have heard by now) is literally the worst thing in the film.

Richard Maurer

No one has told me to stop here on Patreon. But I will move on to other channels that I support. "My movie" will be perfect for them, because of......reasons. I've been promoting SML/FÅ on Pib since March-April last year and "enough is enough".

Björn Karlsson

Why do you persist, Björn after being asked multiple times to stop? I'm just curious before this is examined.

Coleton B.

I will give it some months 🙂

Björn Karlsson

While I don't have any thing against these specific movies, I've more or less given up on hoping my suggestion ever gets any traction. I'm still going to stick around on patreon and youtube though.

Mario

No, remember Azazel always sang time is on my side in Fallen.

John P Tucker

She already did a reaction to the original movie, this was the garbage remake. I think there is a reaction to Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbuster Afterlife as well.

John P Tucker

I was wondering too. Knew the term from American football but just didn't make that connection. Makes sence, thanks.

Jan Sørensen

I've seen it. The first one is not as bad as everyone expected. It's the second one that's the real stomach-churner. I haven't gotten around to the third.

Jeff B.

If they can make The Human Centipede (2009) into an R rated film, then maybe not. ;-) (I have not seen this film, by the way. I can only imagine)

Larry Darrell

Well, unless the actual "spaying" was done off screen I'm pretty sure it would be a hard NC-17 movie.

Richard Maurer

It's an American football reference - its when the quarterback audibly changes the play on the field. It has become slang for making a decision on the fly without consulting anyone.

Richard Maurer

Scream doesn't belong on a straight horror poll - it's not scary at all. At least If it were on comedy horror poll it wouldn't take away a spot from a real horror film.

Richard Maurer

Ah, you mean Déjà Vu! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Who else wishes that "Buffy the Vampire Spayer" actually existed and was not just a typo? *raises hand*

Jeff B.

Tiiiimmmeee is on my side, yes it is!

John P Tucker

Hopefully we will get "Let the right one in" later. And someday (maybe) even my favorite movie (not horror thou) Show me love/Fxcking Åmål 🥰

Björn Karlsson

We need a better selection then these films

Robbie

What we do in the shadows the television series is one of the funniest shows I’ve er seen

Robbie

yeah I know, but everytime someone drops the F bomb she usually sits up and says, "ok".. ha.. she just seems to not be a fan and there are I believe quite a few F bombs in that movie if I remember correctly. I'm not saying don't watch it, I'm just saying some may not like it as some of the others listed as it is listed as Halloween "light". I think Zombieland is hilarious but sometimes even like in standup to much language can take away from the fun.

Ryan Towell

She’s watched The Last of Us and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and loved them. She can deal.

Brian Lowery

I see Zombieland is winning, FYI it does have a lot of "strong language" throughout. Not sure if Cassie enjoys that type of stuff.

Ryan Towell

That ones got some great songs and is a pretty good movie. My grandma used to like that one a lot.

My_Cousin_Mose

Shouldn't Lake Placid have been in the "animals" poll?

Bill W

Cassie reacted to Bram Stoker's Dracula. She didn't care for it.

Bill W

Mind if I ask..I’ve seen this “audible” mentioned elsewhere. What does it mean? Surely you aren’t referring to the audio book service?

Stan the Man

it’s most likely because they think it’s the original. I’d be interested to see how many votes it would get if she included the subtitle. I do think she would like the movie though. I have a feeling she’d get a kick of out Chris Hemsworth’s character and all the silly jokes he makes.

Stan the Man

And I’m sure he was being sincere and not just saying something polite because it was a huge failure and a minefield of controversy? Come on man if you believe that I have 7 bridges to sell you. How exactly did that movie help pave the way for the son of the original director, who had been hounded about making a Ghostbusters film since he could walk, to make a sequel that had absolutely zero with the reboot?(and it should be made clear, the crap that cast went through was horrific and ridiculous). If anything the reboot negatively affected his film. It’s one of the most disliked reboots in the history of film. His film had to work overtime to get that stench off.

Stan the Man

I think Anna and the Apocalypse would be the perfect Movie for the girls. Has anyone else seen Anna and the Apocalypse yet?

Powers209

I think a bunch may because they think it’s the original though😉

Cole Jennett

Scream's not even slightly scary so I'm sure it will make a poll and unfortunately win.

Richard Maurer

Way better than anything on this list.

Richard Maurer

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein would be a fun one, as well as The Wolf-Man from 1941

Terry Wood

I didn't see that one until you pointed it out! You could've gotten away with it!

Tyler Foster

Continuing with the silliness, oh, how I pray for a Buffy win! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTlGh629zS4

Happy Hanukkah

Does mine count? :-) (4 comments above.)

Happy Hanukkah

Pleased to see Ghostbusters (2016) is actually doing pretty well. Top 5 isn't so bad. And a minimal amount of negative comments.

Tyler Foster

From Cassie's pinned post, which contains other useful info: https://popcornrequests.com/ [Full disclosure: "www." removed. If any high muckamuck is reading this, this isn't a new issue. Should it be fixed?]

Happy Hanukkah

Just to be perfectly clear, I generally don't get that invested in the polls. I recall enjoying Buffy; others didn't. There are several good choices in the poll, vote for whichever you wish. (Except for Ghostbusters! that places you beneath contempt.*) * Yes, that was a joke. Mostly. Well, partly. Actually, barely. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Can someone post the link to the page where you suggest movies. Thanks

Brandon

There are episodes of the Real Ghostbusters that are way better than any of these. My opinion though lol

William Bryan

Because it’s not that scary is why it’s great for her I’d even say Carly would be ok watching it.

Dean Holt

Yeah you could be right

Dean Holt

I think there is a chance she's watching Lost Boys already but don't quote me. 😂😎

David Freese

Over the years i tried to watch this movie 3 times. And 3 times i fell asleep midway. Finally managed to watch and finish it last year.

rakesh

Yes, lost boys is a classic, not particularly scary would have been a great addition. Good Choice!

rakesh

TBF the movie wasnt all that good. Excellent series. ( I think Angel ended up even better) But the movie? nah.

rakesh

You would love Dale and Tucker... it is gruesome but very cute/funny too.

Adam Doyle

If Buffy was actually good I still wouldn't vote for it lol

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Also in Buffy is the wonderful Rutger Hauer. It's been a while, so I'm not sure if The Hitcher (1986) qualifies as horror or merely thriller.

Happy Hanukkah

Even the recent passing of Paul Reubens wasn't enough to get y'all to vote for Buffy? Have you no heart?! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I can think of many people who'd love to be fallin' with Denzel Washington, say no more. :-P

Happy Hanukkah

For all of you who had the gall not to vote for Buffy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfFg3rlmCJ4 :-) [I don't think that was really a Buffy spoiler, but YMMV.]

Happy Hanukkah

Fallen with Denzel Washington would be a good one.

John P Tucker

Instead of that insipid Dark Shadows movie from 2012, you should go back to “House of Dark Shadows” which has most of the characters from the original series and kind of wraps up the whole thing into one movie.

Dave Oplinger

Zombieland was easely a top pic. But.. Frighteners is so underrated and most people have not even heard of it, so they both get my vote. Just make sure you invite Carly for the Frighteners, she'll love it

Shanwyn Nightfox

Zombieland (2009) is excellent. Best in the poll in my humble opinion. Not what I expected. Creative. And has a romantic story. Zombieland is better than The Burbs (which I liked back in the day).

Clay F

DARK CITY is fantastic. Not sure how Cassie would respond to it, though.

Matt Rose

You’re in my brain, man! 2016 was a leap year for two reasons, the extra day in February, and needing to leap a few more years to get to the third Ghostbusters film: Afterlife.

Ian Forbes

Tbh if you did all of the top four and The Lost Boys in October that would suit me fine and I wouldn’t care what other movies you did as any thing I like after them would be a bonus.

Dean Holt

+1

David Conroy

The Burbs is a classing you'll love it.

pat on

No argument here.

Joshua s. Jackson

I know a "genre" Cassie needs to explore. "Swedish teenage drama" 😇😇

Björn Karlsson

I think Dark City would be a great October movie. It's arguably not a horror movie, but it definitely has some horror movie elements. The director also made The Crow, after all. I'm sure it's not too scary for Cassie and Carly, and I really think they might like it, based on what they've liked in the past. It would be a really nice complement to the more traditional October movies. I definitely don't want to pigeonhole it as just a Halloween movie though - it's worth a watch at any time of the year.

Sundiver

I can never get enough of Michael J. Fox, so The Frighteners gets my vote.

Sarah Frost

The Frighteners and What We Do In The Shadows have it for me. A good horror comedy works as both. Also New Zealand 🇳🇿

Jacob King

Ah, thank you. I was wondering, too.

sarCC

It’s not the original, look at the year.

Cole Jennett

How is Ghostbusters not winning? 🫨

Brother Who

My thoughts exactly.

Sample-Text

I find that the more violent the movie is the more votes it gets

zynjams

I think we’re just taking the opportunity to mention it, not necessarily for this poll or theme, but just in general as a scary movie.

JC762

zombie land is cool sure but we should take her back a little plenty of time for the newer stuff frighteners or the burbs are perfect even Carly would enjoy

Sam R.

@Mike Lemon I prefer the "Trick OR Treat" from '86. I mean come on... Gene Simmons. Besides, it is from the 80's so it has boobs. :)

Doug Fisher

Didn't like that film. Of course it might have had something to do with making me nauseous... or having a very meh ending. (Not a shaky cam fan.)

Doug Fisher

Bubba Hotep should definitely be on this list.

Jeffrey Folie

Yeah... collective wisdom is actually antithetical. I mean these polls gave us "Live and Let Die" as the second Moore Bond choice, so we can't really be surprised anymore.

Doug Fisher

2007.

Joe Monroe

No. It's the one from 2007. The main character is Sam. You see his costumes and merchandise for sale in all the Halloween stores this time of year.

Joe Monroe

(If you set 'em up, I'll knock 'em down lol) ;P

MertzRocks

hahaha whoopsadaisy

Cassie

Always remember to spay and neuter your vampires...

MertzRocks

One horror classic that I would love Cassie to watch would be the infamous BBC Halloween drama GHOSTWATCH (1992), Starring chat show host Sir Michael Parkinson, who died this year. Ghostwatch is infamous because on the night it was broadcast it fooled millions of viewers into thinking that the horror they were watching was real and created a nationwide panic and in the 30 years since its broadcast, the BBC has never rebroadcasted it since. A flat out horror masterpiece!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I suspect Cassie can "endure" THE THING but definitely not Carly, but more importantly, it is not a "Halloween Lite" movie by ANY stretch of the imagination, so it's a moot point.

Patrick Flanagan

"Buffy the Vampire Spayer"? Gotta love it when we explore different genres...

Michael Labs

Was hoping there wouldn't be comments like this. Should be worth noting that has Jason Reitman said that the 2016 movie helped pave the way for the one he made afterward.

Tyler Foster

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein- fits your bill.

2-Can

Vampire Spayer? Hardcore lol.

TwistedMagoo

The Thing reaction will be one for the ages :D

Damon

Zombieland is looking like the winner which is a good movie. But I’d love to see her watch The Burbs and Tucker & Dale is an awesome movie with Wash from Firefly and it’s also got a romantic story.

Dean Holt

Whoa. The original one back in '79 scared 10 year old me into sleeping with the lights on all the time. lol

Damon

I remember jamming to that Fastway soundtrack back in the day lol

Damon

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is an actual horror rom-com. You'll love it.

David Conroy

Write-in vote for Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

David Patterson

I know its not in the list but at some point, I'd highly recommend checking out From Dusk Till Dawn!! Best way to watch it though is to go in completely blind, don't read/watch anything about it beforehand. All you need to know is that it stars George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, and Juliette Lewis and it's TONS of fun - also, without spoiling anything, I can say that it would be a perfect fit for this list. All the best!!

Nick Bushkes

I would love to join you on your trip down the Egyptian river. How much are the tickets?

David Patterson

That's Awesome. :-)

Larry Darrell

might just have to audible, i thought it was going to win this poll haha

Cassie

If it doesn't win, I really hope Cassie pulls an audible and Saves Mr. Banks by watching The 'Burbs anyway. It's perfect for her. ;-)

Larry Darrell

planning on it in october already!

Cassie

yes yes i did

Cassie

Burbs is a good Tom Banks movie.

Rick Williams

What about the Eddie Murphy movie, "The Haunted Mansion"? 🤷‍♂️

james flack

Wait. Hold up. She already reacted to all the Ghostbusters movies, right? There’s 3 of them and I can literally see she’s reacted to each by doing a search. Is she thinking of reacting to the 1st movie again? That’d be cool and if so I should offer a quick correction. It came out in 1984 not 2016. No Ghostbusters movie came out in 2016. None, zero, zip. I think I’d remember that. I mean…we waited decades for a 3rd film, then Harold Ramis passed away tragically and nothing happened until Jason Reitman made Ghostbusters Afterlife. That’s right. Nothing happened. NOTHING HAPPENED!!

Stan the Man

IMO, you're being kind calling it "middling" but to be fair, there's really not much of real quality on that list. Surely there are some movies that should be there that would qualify... maybe Close Encounters?

Art of Free Speech

Well, I would disagree. Dahmer was incredibly well done, and is not full of gore-- certainly far less gore than Halloween and she made it through that just fine. It's just incredibly creepy because Dahmer, the man, was monstrously creepy, and the performance by Evan Peters was masterful. It's also based on a true story, which we know Cassie loves. Most importantly, however, I DID say it might be a bit too much for her, even now. I recognized it. Why did you feel the need to say more and ignore that part? Frankly, I don't know ANYONE who WASN'T uncomfortable watching Dahmer. Everyone was uncomfortable (at least if they have a shred of humanity in them), but I and pretty much everyone I know are still glad to have watched it. I feel it's an important piece. Clearly you disagree, and that's fine, but it's not remotely asking a cowboy to watch golf. Chernobyl was creepy, too, (granted, not nearly to the same degree as Dahmer) and it affected Cassie and you could see that, but she also appreciated watching it because of the history behind it. All of that said, I'm still not committed to saying it would be a good idea, but I would prefer to let Cassie make that decision.... it's certainly, IMO, better done and more important a piece of media than anything on that list.

Art of Free Speech

Lots of great choices here but What We Do in the Shadows is one of the funniest things ever committed to film and the 'Burbs is my third favorite Tom Hanks film after Joe vs the Volcano and The Money Pit. Lake Placid should have been part of Animals Week.

Godzilla Jones

The 'Burbs, every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

WastedPo

Oh please watch "The Burbs" a great fun flick!

Keith Jones

Okay but neither one fits the theme?

Patrick Flanagan

Is there any other film on this poll that has its own Celebration Day, than The ‘Burbs? I rest my case. :-)

Larry Darrell

Burbs!!!!!!!

Maxoutkast

Tucker and Dale is really funny, but it's also really sweet. (strange but true)

Paul Stelter

Very Punny!

Jaccob Cortes

The Frighteners!

Jacob Colson

A great idea! Let's just skip October movies this year.

Terry Yelmene

theres a recent indie movie thats a horror comedy(light on the horror) that you should add to your list called 'psycho goreman' the title is intense but really its just another joke. I would say its like a fusion between calvin and hobbes(but calvin is a little girl) and HP Lovecraft. check it out! its hilarious.

rubberkidney

Cassie watching Dahmer is like asking a cowboy to watch Golf. Just, why? You know they're going to be uncomfortable

Coleton B.

Wait, these are all halloween movies!? How have I never known!?

Coleton B.

It would appyramid that it would make sands to wrap that one up IMHO(tep).

Coleton B.

I love funny and monster movies so ended up with The Burbs and Lake Placid (which I make everyone watch) - it's up there with Tremors for me. Also picked The Frighteners - I held off on it for years thinking it would be too scary for me. I love it. It's exactly my level of fun and spooky. Tucker and Dale is hysterical but a bit bloody maybe and Zombieland was a no for me. Zombies give me nightmares for some reason - even Shawn of the Dead, which I loved and will sometimes still watch, but I just don't remember that much about Zombieland except....spoiler?

Jennifer Medicus

Bummer. I was so looking forward to The Frighteners when Cassie mentioned it on her last live. Only for it to end up on a poll. Oh well, there is always next year. Though I love Tucker and Dale and Zombieland, The Frighteners has been a long time favorite.

Jan Sørensen

This joke slays

Coleton B.

NONE

Peggy Zehr

Buffy The Vampire Slayer 1992 was the basis for the TV show, not the other way around..

Coleton B.

For your meticulous nature and habit of being thorough, I salute you sir.

Coleton B.

dark shadows is so good and has the least amount of votes. no wonder I dont like these polls

zynjams

I don't like any of them .... just saying ....

mhz

No, arguing that Casper and Monster Squad are lighter than Zombieland and Tucker and Dale.

Matthew Periolat

No... just no.

Doug Fisher

Too many good choices, frightners, the burbs, zombieland.....

Seymor Butz

Are you seriously saying "Zombieland" and "T&D" are not "lighter fare"?!

Doug Fisher

The frighteners. Man thats peak MJ Fox. was set in New Zealand. Great movie.

rakesh

This is the same group that voted "Live and Let Die" as one of the two Moore Bond films... are you really surprised?!

Doug Fisher

Dang it…Vote 1 for the Burbs’ 😭

John Cranberry

Well you have to keep the vampire population under control. Don't want thousands of vampires running around. Gotta spay and neuter your vampires.

Labcurmudgeon79

Already seen Big Trouble in Little China?

Brian McGovern

Most of Zombieland was filmed where I grew up in Valdosta, GA, and the theme park at the end of the movie, I worked there when I was in college. But I voted for The Burbs. But I'm hoping for a reaction to "The Lost Boys", classic 80's film.

John P Tucker

I believe she said in a premiere chat Scream (1996) is being considered as a straight horror reaction for October. IIRC.

Brent Petty

every movie listed in this poll is a comedy

db

It was pre-Walking Dead, so it was outrageous at the time it was released. Saw it in the theater and it was packed. People loved it.

Brent Petty

Zombieland and Tucker & Dale are winning. As it should be.

Brent Petty

Plus it only has a couple of funny parts in the whole film.

Richard Maurer

I don't really care that much about this poll, didn't even read the comments - voted for Tucker and Dale because it's the best movie on the list and Buffy because maybe we'll get the series someday

Richard Maurer

Lots of good choices, although one that's on here...... really, yuk! My votes are for Lake Placid, Zombieland, and Dracula: Dead and Loving It! I do highly recommend you watch the OG Dracula (1931) because it makes a lot of references, thankfully you've already seen Francis Ford Copalla's Bram Stoker's Dracula, which also has references lol! Still, not a bad start of films to start watching for Halloween season! Best of luck to the winner, love and support, have a great Wednesday, hope you're feeling better🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Wesley White

I agree with you. I did message her about adding the movie 'scream' as a horror/comedy to the poll, but I guess it's not happening

Dylan Harris

Buffy the Vampire 'Spayer'? Is this an anti-porno spoof?

Steve Mercier

We all know she only needs to watch about 6 episodes- Hush, the mental asylum one, vampire Willow, and the three Dark Willow ones. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to watch Dark Willow kick some butt right now.

Mike Lemon

Absolutely. Especially since it's made by the same people who made FireFly. I think Cassie would really like the show.

Cody Nelson

Not really loving this poll to be honest. Way too many newer movies. And Zombieland should absolutely count as a straight up comedy IMO, not really fitting for the Spooky Season. Only by merit of there being Zombies, which I suppose is enough for most.

Astraeos

Watching Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) without watching Dracula 1931, and Bram Stoker's Dracula first is like watching Young Frankenstein without watching Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and The Son of Frankenstein first; you will catch half the jokes, but not all of them.

Eddie Perkins

A guy can hope.😁

Joshua s. Jackson

I love Mike Flanagan's work. Midnight Mass is another good one!

Jaccob Cortes

Dale and Tucker vs Evil (2010) is a MUST SEE :-)

Kim Brink

Yass! Spay, Queen! Poor Drusilla. :-) (BTW, TIL that Drusilla was played by Martin Landau's daughter.) [ADDED: Yes, I know that the poll candidate is the movie, not the show. At least, that's what Simone tells me, and she has unimpeachable sources.)

Happy Hanukkah

If you ever want to watch Buffy, you should watch the series, not the movie.

Sample-Text

She's not going to watch a 145, "hour long", episode show.

Mike Lemon

Zombieland is looking like the winner which is a good movie. But I’d love to see her watch The Burbs and Tucker & Dale is an awesome movie with Wash from Firefly and it’s also got a romantic story.

Dean Holt

I wouldn’t count Tucker and Dale as a Halloween movie, it’s good. But The Frighteners and The burbs are my choices

Biggman83

Lake Placid is from 2000

Odd Thomas

The Frighteners followed by Zombieland

Odd Thomas

Frightners for me. I’m obviously in a minority. But I never got the appeal of zombieland . But I think it’s prob because the genre has been saturated I find zombie movies dead boring now (see what I did there)

LDC7080

Zombieland is funny but gross, The Burbs is good clean fun.

Joshua s. Jackson

@Mike Lemon and this is why I include the year when making recommendations

mikethemotormouth

Blasphemy

Joshua s. Jackson

Is she talking about Buffy the movie or the series.

Joshua s. Jackson

Aside from the A+ opening credits, it's ok

mikethemotormouth

The Burbs is so good.

Joshua s. Jackson

One of the best miniseries of all time. I will be soooooo disappointed if she doesn’t watch it.

brooke atkins

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is so fun, I even think Carly could handle it.

Philip Herman

I don't get the love for Zombieland, it is a middling movie at best.

Mike Lemon

The Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne (and "Skippy") one? Or is that Trick or Treat?

Mike Lemon

I understand this feeling. A lot of the movies I want the most have been 3rd place finishers and I haven’t voted for other movies I liked to help ensure they at least stayed that high😂

Cole Jennett

Well I hope so I've wanting her to watch that for a year now lol

MatthewBrown74m

She's seen What Women Want.

Mike Lemon

Thirded

Simon Haynes

I would much rather have seen her watch Dahmer on Netflix (though I'll agree that might be a bit too much for her, even now) or even The Watcher. There's just nothing on this list that really interests me or that I think is all that good.

Art of Free Speech

C’mon The ‘Burbs. Did you Trademark “Scary but Not Too Scary”?

Larry Darrell

I saw Soldier in theaters with my dad. My first Kurt Russell movie experience. Scared me a bit but I enjoyed it.

Zane From Canada

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein for a "scary but not too scary"

Shawn Kildal

Mel Gibson. MAD MAX+ROAD WARRIOR +MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME!!! Then a hilarious love story with Mel in “WHAT WOMEN WANT” Helen in Hunt is in it with him…. Steven Martin in “THE JERK” funniest ever! Very funny Dan Akroyd + Chevy Chase in “SPIES LIKE US “ if you want a laugh!! The drive in scene was an actual Drive in that was bull dozed but was in LANCASTER CALIFORNIA.

Carl Hunnicutt

How is Zombieland outpacing Tucker & Dale? Outrageous! haha

_tragicmike

lake placid is from 1999, not 1992, and buffy is from 1992, not 1995. and she’s a vampire slayer, not spayer. have you seen ernest scared stupid (1991) or killer klowns from outer space (1988)? those are musts. also casper (1995) and the house with a clock in it walls (2018). also, just like young frankenstein and robin hood men in tights, dracula dead and loving it plays well after watching the originals (1931 and 1992). but it’s great regardless

diego kontarovsky

hey now, no bad talking Mannequin 2, Mannequin on the Move. haha

Christopher Smith

If it’s not on the poll, there’s a better chance it’s already on the list for October🤷‍♂️

Cole Jennett

GREAT movie.

Matt Rose

My vote goes to The Burbs and What We Do In The Shadows. Normally I'd vote for Frighteners as well, but I want The Burbs to catch up, lol.

Dave

it's fantastic.

Matt Rose

She's never gonna watch that let's be real if CAN the sure but I don't know

MatthewBrown74m

And if it’s not Sarah Michelle Gellar, she’s not MY Buffy! 😂 😤

Chad Bailey

Before Friday the 13th(1980)??

mikethemotormouth

WHERES scream?? Lol 😆

MatthewBrown74m

That one is set in stone I believe

Cole Jennett

Difficult choice on this one with so many good movies. I like the Burbs, The Frighteners, Buffy. Even the 2016 all female Ghostbusters has some good moments (It's one of Chris Hemsworth's funniest performances. But topping my list has to be Zombieland and Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

D. T. Nelson

I was really hoping we might see some more adventurous fare this year

mikethemotormouth

You’re probably right. I haven’t watched it in a while.

Bryan Erickson

Just having issues controlling the population of vampire bats

mikethemotormouth

THE CALL starring Halle Berry is SO GOOD! KISS THE GIRLS w Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd is awesome as well! I wish they had been on the poll. I haven’t seen many reactions to these. Edge-of-your-seat twists!

Carol Rocha

I have my issues with both but I'll agree Cassie should see them to form her own opinions

mikethemotormouth

Is Cassie going to watch The Mummy with Brandon Frasier? I know she had mentioned it at some point.

Jaccob Cortes

You HAVE to consider the Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. So well written. 8 episodes mini series! Thrilling and compelling

Chad Bailey

Whole new genre!

Mike H

Seconding Barbarian(2022)

mikethemotormouth

The Firghteners, The Burbs and Zombieland for me! I love Zombieland saga

Grégory Gautier

She’s attempting to ease into the scarier titles

Cole Jennett

Seconded! I’d love a reaction to it

Cole Jennett

The Burbs all the way! One of my favorite Tom Hanks films, and perfect for the Halloween season!

David Crabtree

Im glad she's getting these comedies that are "scary" out of the way now so all of October is only actual scary movies. Also the Frighteners gets my vote.

Variable38

I would have picked the same two that I suggested last year.... "The Haunting of Hell House" featuring the late Roddy McDowell and "The Changeling" featuring the late George C. Scott, both are "haunted house" movies and ones that should definitely be seen. Too bad that they once again didn't make the list.

George Haselden

How did it get 45 votes? Thats literally the scariest thing about any of this.

Variable38

It would give a whole new outlook if Buffy went around performing surgeries to remove their reproductive organs! lol

Julian Corbett

I gotta go with “The Burbs” here. Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher. Suburbs. Comedy. Thriller.

Ike

Just noticed some of the other movies in the poll. So many good movies, it’s a shame she’ll only watch two. Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) gets my second vote. Another Mel Brooks classic. Even though she didn’t love Spaceballs, I still want her to see this movie. It’s just too funny not to be seen by everyone.

Luke Godfrey

From what I remember of Dale and Tucker, it might be a fan favorite for some people, but I highly doubt it will be a very good reaction video. Mainly because I don’t think Cassie will enjoy it that much, certainly not more than several of the other films.

JC762

Zombieland is a comedy!

Jerrod Acree

Consider Cloverfield (2008)!

Raj K. Dixit

I think Carly should be warned about zombie type gore. She’s pretty sensitive. I doubt she would have “no problem”

JC762

Oops! Didn't notice that. Never mind. Changing my vote.

Kat Farlowe

LOL; I was shocked that 2016 Ghostbusters made the list. “How did that get in there?"

Uncle Phoenix

Candyman 1992 would be great to watch.

Carlos Molina

I maintain that Kurt Russell’s work in “The Mean Season” and “The Soldier” are both underrated.

Uncle Phoenix

Oh how I wish she was referring to series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If there was an option to pay Cassie to react to something, that’s what I would spend my hard earned money on. I love that series. I’ve seen each episode of Buffy and Angel at least 200 times, and I’m not exaggerating. I can still quote almost every line.

Luke Godfrey

Me 3!

Priscila

LOL, didn’t even notice it at first glance.

Uncle Phoenix

The best light Halloween movie is ParaNorman. An absolute must watch.

shaneth138

What a great poll. Lots of great choices. Actually it's Tucker and Dale v. Evil and Buffy does not keep the vampires from reproducing, she actually SLAYs them. Otherwise, great list!

Alan Kobb

Yes Cassie. It’s time! You have been well prepared! Don’t deny yourself this classic masterpiece! 😀

JC762

Technically, it seems most of these are comedies. A couple may contain a few minor scares but this is a very “safe” list. Cassie for sure has advanced beyond these in terms of scare factor.

JC762

Zombieland is lite?

Mark Vaderr

Have you watched Salem's Lot yet?

Ken Thurman

You need to watch Trick R' Treat. One of the best Halloween movies ever made period.

Joe Monroe

Pass.

Bill W

Seconding the Village!

Morgan A. Colbert

Buffy is so fun so it got my vote though the Burbs was a strong second.

Morgan A. Colbert

& Keanu!

Morgan A. Colbert

This is a poll for fun lite Halloween films. Not regular horror.

David Freese

I know this is not movie related but Luke Perry's son is a pro wrestler. In aew as Jungle Boy 😂

David Freese

I do not like scary movies!!! LOL

Randolph Tirazona

What can we do to get The Village on your radar for this Halloween? It's a heart-breakingly beautiful love story pretending to be a horror movie, I think you ladies would really enjoy it.

Story Archer

Buffy does have Luke Perry so there’s that, and also Paul Reubens, Hillary Swank and David Arquette in small roles. It’s surprisingly good, and spawned a really solid tv series

Cole Jennett

The Cabin In The Woods should be in this poll. I went with The Frighteners.

Mark Vaderr

Not sure burbs qualifies as holloween but man is it great, back when channel surfing was a thing, one of those you don't flip past, always a fun watch.

Bubba Fett

Yes, Cassie has proven she can handle The Thing.

Mike LL

Most of these movies are hilarious for me, but I'm a bit darker than most. The easiest ones that are scary but still kinda safe (in my opinion) are Zombieland, Dale and Tucker, and lake placid

Max Well

I only just realized in the last few weeks that was him. That was awesome 🤣

Bubba Fett

Tucker and Dale !!!!

Neil Varma

Hope you're feeling better, Cassie. I know when Mom gets sick, everyone's basically affected. Hope it's not running through the whole house now from person to person.

Above Average Dave

The Frighteners, YES! The best choice here. The Burbs, young Tom Hanks yes, but sorry I am not a fan of this. I fear Zombieland is the popular choice here due to the early voting, it is just I am not a fan of anything zombies. Ho hum. Dark Shadows is an abomination. I am a HUGE fan of the source material, the original 1960's campy horror soap opera which was the inspiration for the movie. The movie is a desecration and Tim Burton should be ashamed of himself. The 90's Buffy TV show was so far superior to the movie that there is no real reason to watch the movie anymore. Haven't really watched much of the others, I will watch anything Cassie watches so I hope we get something good out of this poll, #TeamAnythingButDarkShadowsMovie

Mike LL

Constantine! Not super scary, really good movie for Halloween

JimJames

The best reason to see Buffy is the performance of the late Paul Reubens - though frankly you’d be better off watching Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, which is necessary viewing (and was a great influence on the Barbie movie). (As for this list, I haven’t seen enough of them to cast a responsible vote.)

jdj830

As a write-in candidate: BUBBA HO-TEP.

Matt Rose

Vampire Bugs every where! Say it, dont spray it... 😆🔞... well, I voted for "The Burbs'"... I believe its Joe Dante? Very funny stuff. Bruce Dern is awesome!

Jens Kristensen

this is the 2016 film, not the original.

Matt Rose

What we do in shadows is hilarious!

Ria Grix

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS all the way, every day. That said, the tv show is even better.

Matt Rose

In Zombieland two icons in this movie so you might enjoy this movie in a whole.

FranciscoGios

Buffy = Like Perry, Friday 13th = Kevin Bacon in one of his first roles. Scream= Neve Campbell from Party Of Five. Frighteners= Michael J. Fox sees ghosts. Zombieland more funny than scary. There is another horror parody besides Sharon Tate's Fearless Vampire Hunters, Transylvania Twist makes fun of them all. To bad it's out of print and they don't make it anymore. Copies of it are extremely hard to find.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Zombieland will win, but you should absolutely watch The Burbs, too. Carly should have no problem with either of those. Burbs is the slightly creepier of the 2, but they’re mostly for comedy anyway.

Bryan Erickson

"The Frighteners" is a very early Peter Jackson film, same guy who did LOTR! It's a good mix of scary and funny and good (for the era) special effects.

David Blount

What we do in the Shadows is the most unique and ridiculously funny Vampire movie ever! It's a hilarious satire which borrows vampire "facts" from every vampire book and movie ever made, from Anne Rice to Underworld. Imagine MTV'e "Real World" being crossed with "Interview With a Vampire" And best of all, you're better prepared for the FX series which is probably one of the best TV shows ever made, of any genre.

Kuskesh Haramzadeh

You can't go wrong with either TUCKER AND DALE or ZOMBIELAND.

Steven Perez

I choose none of them.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

I can only ever choose one in the mobile app. I have to open it in a web browser to select multiple.

l.h. riley

The Frighteners is SOOOO underrated! Michael J. Fox and directed by Peter Jackson!😃

Matt Winchester

Cassie. I would like to remind you that you said you were going to watch all Kurt Russell movies so that means you have to watch The Thing this year! 😏😂😁

Wes

lol "Spayer" it is... 😊 I like The Frighteners... Michael J Fox

Mannygogou

Gotta be Tucker and Dale... too funny

Tim Phistry

Remember folks, spay and neuter your vampires

Patrick Flanagan

Lake Placid…yes!!! ☺️

Melanie

"Buffy the Vampire Spayer"? Either this is a typo, or is it the version where she's a supernatural vet?

Jake McNulty

Hahaha! Dracula Dead And Lovin' It made the list. That's awesome! A Mel Brooks film with Leslie Nielsen as Dracula. It's a funny. 😁

Zane From Canada

I voted Burbs because it's harmless and it's Tom Hanks. can't go wrong!

Mike Stevenson

I didn't know Christy Swanson was a veterinarian lol

William Bryan

Votes for Zombieland and Tucker and Dale, but for lighter fare, Casper and Monster Squad should be polled too.

Matthew Periolat

I was able to choose multiple.

Tyler Foster

The Burbs is a perfect movie for a lightly scary fun watch!

Chris Arthur

I totally agree! Series are hard when they span several seasons like Buffy!

Manuel Eckroad

Deep Blue Sea and What Lies Beneath need to be on there. They really should. Both excellent and not scary.

William Bryan

it says "choose all that apply," but you can only choose one

MountainViking

Buffy is a weird one. It's not Sarah Michelle Geller from the TV series and barely resembles the (excellent) show. Is Carly joining you ?

pinkdino99

Please God, not Zombieland. Not when far superior films like The Frighteners, The Burbs and Tucker and Dale vs Evil are on the poll.

Just Plain Bob

I’ve never seen this before, so wouldn’t be sad if it won, and gave me a reason

Cole Jennett

Huge The Burbs fan, we never should have left the 80's.

Brian's Dog

Cole says it perfectly!

Jason Fulbright

Ghostbusters for me. It is a true must see!

Kat Farlowe

Going for Dark Shadows! When you get to the scary but not too scary, could you include Cobweb and Barbarian? Both those movies are amazing!

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Hope Cassie watches the Runner Up! Frighteners is the best!!!

Todzilla

I would LOVE if you watched Buffy the show... the movie is ok, but not nearly as good. it's a big commitment but 🤞🤞🤞

jenny from montana

The burbs is a Classic, one of my favorite Tom hanks comedies!

Edgar Gonzalez

It's not going to be popular on here but *I* definitely think you should watch Ghostbusters. You've watched all the others, so you might as well finish.

Tyler Foster

tucker and dale is almost perfect

Jared Wiltshire

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil has Wash from Firefly!

DWeber

Good movies on here, but I’m voting for the fun time you will have with Zombieland and Buffy

Cole Jennett
