Turner & Hooch (1989) - Full Reaction

Well this was sweet and just the type movie that feels homey with a little investigative fun. It had Beethoven vibes which Carly and I watched a ton growing up. Sweet and rewatchable!

Turner & Hooch (1989) - Full Reaction

Comments

Finally got around to watching this reaction. It was nice seeing this movie again after all these years, but it’s definitely not as good as K-9 (1989) starring Jim Belushi. Too much slobber in this one. The dog in K-9 is way cuter. I really hope Cassie and Carly watch it to see how it compares. 🤞🏻

Luke Godfrey

It occurred to me last week, a very good Cassie & Carly animal movie is The Art of Racing in the Rain. Its not on her Letterbox'd list, but I feel stupid for not bringing it up. It is pretty sad, but I think they'd enjoy it. Also Kevin Costner is in it, he says quizzically.

ContrabandDonut

I live this movie…it captivated me as a kid and I live it for the nostalgia nowadays! I think you’d love the movie called DOG with Channing Tatum, similar vibes as T&H but with a much deeper. Check it out if you get the chance.

Biggman83

K-9 with James Belushi (1989) is similar and just as fun.

Jaime Hernandez

I was hoping they had already seen those, I'm assuming when they were kids growing up. Thats when I watched those movies. So good. Though to be honest, I would be interested in a rewatch of either of those movies now as adults. Could be interesting content for the channel.

Astraeos

Homeward Bound and Free Willy are on the "already watched" list. https://letterboxd.com/pib1/films/

Mike Lemon

"Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" (1993), "K-9" (1989), "Iron Will" (1994), Non-Dog: "The Bear" (1988), "Free Willy" (1993).

Randolph Tirazona

The Bear!!! Very, very different 'animal movie'! Very different LOL

Randolph Tirazona

YES! Another good one! lol

Randolph Tirazona

Oh, another dog movie I'd love for you two to react to would be Iron Will. It doesn't have Tom Hanks, and it can be a bit cheesy, but it's a fantastic story that I think you guys would really enjoy.

Raven Dark

You two have got to watch Homeward Bound. There are two, so make sure it's the remake from 1993, not the original. Michael J. Fox stars in it. This was such a delightful reaction, you too. So much fun. Thanks for entertaining me, and taking me away from live for a while.

Raven Dark

Putting Homeward Bound in this list spoils the ending. There are a lot of others recommending it, and I will too, so you could just take it out.

Raven Dark

Well, now that I know that, I guess I can stop asking for you all to play Marley & Me. I wish you would play "The Bear (1989) or "The Edge (1997)"

Eddie Perkins

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey is a good dog movie. Hotel for dogs is cute too. If you want more of this young Tom Hanks, check out The Money Pit.

Tara

You should try "K-9" starring Jim Belushi.

Joshua s. Jackson

Hooch is a Dogue de Bordeaux. A breed that goes back over 700 years. Very protective, powerful, but also gentle. They tend to live about 6-7 years, but Hooch lived to the age of 14.

Brian Lowery

Love this movie, though I did not have this type of dog growing up.... I watched this movie as a little kid and had a 100lb boxer next to me. as a little kid close enough lol

Ry Jo

You don't have a dog?? But you love them? Cassie, I want to show you something: https://youtu.be/VDrabmm421I?feature=shared

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

for a dog movie where they don't die... (spoiler) Iron will is a VERY good movie

Ry Jo

Oldie but a goodie. Fun movie. Great Reaction ladies. I am glad you could join Carly. You should join Cassie for the other two movies this week.

Rick Williams

I second this!

John P Tucker

It was always Turner & Hooch and K-9 growing up. Love 'em both.

RabidMango

Carly. Make sure you watch Togo on Disney You love it. Have tissues at the ready.

Brandon

Once a year, after Thanksgiving mom would ask for me to put it on. We laughed, we cried it was great times! It was one of the shows she would regularly watch. I was happy and surprised that Carly joined!!! Again I have to say this is one of my Favorites from Tom! Again I have to push for: "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey!" And I won't spoil it but to say: Michael J Fox, Sally Field star in it!

Randolph Tirazona

The ‘Burbs is perfect for Scary But Not Too Scary viewing. I recommended it a couple of months back and Cassie indicated she planned to watch it. Hopefully, that comes to fruition.

Just Plain Bob

Always loved this movie. I'm pretty sure Beasley (Hooch) was a Bull Mastiff. I raise a purebred English Mastiff from a puppy and was there for her, all her life, (8-1/2 to 9 years. Her name was Sophie and she was truly 190 pounds of love. They are wonderful, loving, loyal companions and Sophie was a HUGE, (pun intended), part of our family. LOL And YES THEY DO DROOL.....A LOT! The secret is that they mostly drool when eating or drinking so they only get to do so OUTSIDE! LOL and you keep a towel by the door and they don't get to come in until you wipe out the jowls. Sadly, she developed hip dysphasia a couple of years ago and the Vet said, for her nothing could be done and it was time. I'm a pretty big guy and have been told by daughters boyfriends that I'm "SCARY!" (LOL) but, I don't think I cried that much in years and am tearing up now just writing this. Miss my big Puppy. My chores are done for the day so I'm getting ready to watch the reaction now and I'm sure it will be awesome. :-) UPDATE: Finally got to watch the reaction and it WAS awesome. The scene where Tom Hanks gives the dog a bath in the yard brought back memories. Sophie used to love to play and jump in the hose water and when she would jump up on her hind legs, she was TALLER THEN ME! LOL Anyway like I said great reaction as usual. Keep it up Ladies.

'Pappy' Johnston

I watched Turner and Hooch for the first time with Cassie, and I have to say I liked it. It was impossible not to like Hooch, but it was great to see Tom Hanks back in his young silly comedy movie phase. But I can't believe I got a spoiler about the ending of Marley and Me, which I have never seen, from Cassie! How could you? 🤣🤣🤣

Mike LL

Let's go!

RabidMango

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey!!!

Randolph Tirazona

You two watched an animal movie early on the channel. Jaws.

D. T. Nelson

Zane From Canada

coming today!!

Cassie

The Burbs would be perfect for Carly and Cassie in October!

Wes

The 'Burbs would be another great Tom Hanks reaction. I want to say for October but it's not really a horror movie, it's not scary at all, but Joe Dante, the director, his style is kind of comedy/horror(ish). He did The Howling, which is a horror classic, and he did the Gremlins movies, which are I guess horror/comedy. He also directed Innerspace, which I also recommend, and is more sci-fi/comedy. Anyway, The 'Burbs is a fun Tom Hanks movie.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

This is one of my favorite Tom Hanks performances. No joke. It would have been so easy for him to sit back and ride on his considerable charisma, letting the funny dog do the heavy lifting. He doesn’t do that. Instead, he makes Scott an incredibly grounded and real person, which makes the ending (no spoilers) so much more affecting. Because who doesn’t relate to that?

Brian Harris

OMG Cassie, this was so tender! What a nice surprise Carly joined in for this reaction, nice! I must say, she's looking rather lovely, don't worry you always look lovely Cassie lol! Carly really made me smile when she said that she loves dogs, I'm a dog lover too! I really enjoyed this reaction, I've seen this movie once, a long time ago with my father, it's such a hilarious movie! You just can't help but love watching people interacting and bonding with an animal, especially a dog! I'm so glad you two enjoyed watching this Tom Hanks classic, if I may recommend to you another classic of his, a rom-com titled The Money Pit, you and Carly should watch it together, I guarantee you will both have a hoot of laughter when you watch it! I was totally shocked at the end here when you said you've seen Old Yeller😱 I didn't think you would've seen that movie, especially since I recommended it for a future voting poll reaction to classic live-action Disney movies, oh well, cross that one out then lol! Speaking of dog movies, the movie that I'm sorry I keep pestering you about that I want to see you and Carly react so badly, Iron Will, which involves dogs, no spoilers to the plot of the movie, but I'm just simply saying that no dog in the movie dies! This was certainly a good start for animal theme week! Speaking of themes, I so hope someday in the future you'll consider my idea for doing a King Arthur movie theme week, watching certain movies based on the story of King Arthur like you did with Robin Hood lol! Say Cassie, I hope you don't mind, but I would like to share with you some cute photos of our family dog back when I was a youngster, I'll send them to you in Messages, your heart will melt lol! If you got my previous message, I'll soon have a package on the way for you and Carly that will go perfectly for when you two do your reaction to The Mummy this upcoming spooky season! Anyway, glad I stayed up late at 4:30 in the morning watching this tender reaction, I enjoyed every minute! Love and support always, [vitrual hug] God bless you, Carly, and your family! And as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Wesley White

My favorite young Tom Hanks movie will always be "Bachelor Party"...😆😆 That's both funny and raunchy!

Jens Kristensen

someone get Hooch an Oscar nomination 😂

JL_83

I had read that it was one of Tom Hanks' best memories of filming, working with the dog! Like many here, I watched it as a kid, and I have fond memories of it! especially the scene where he's waiting the dog with the muffins.

Grégory Gautier

Dog movie where they don't die- Balto (1995). It's animated but it's a great movie and based on a true story.

Mike Lemon

The only gripe I have about this movie is that we really really really could have done without the speedo scenes lol... boxers or shorts I mean come on lol. I mean can't they cgi that in there? 😆 Lovely reaction ladies!

Andrew Rose

Haven't watched this since I was a kid but I remember enjoying it back then. Was surprised at the amount of genuine laughter this movie inspired on the re-watch - I hope the dog was easier to work with than the character he played, haha

Jedi Psy

Yeah it’s one of the three but it seemed like it was gonna be first from the previous post.

djKENTO

I understood we WILL get G&D this week, right? Because it is such a great movie, it would be a shame not to do it

Dioskur

So which do you like better, young Tom Hanks or older Tom Hanks?

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Same here.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Awwww man I was hoping for ghost in the darkness.
