Updates to Patreon
Added 2023-09-13 22:22:25 +0000 UTCHey beautiful people!! Hope you're having a great week so far. I just wanted to update you with a few new features and minor changes to Patreon.
First off, if you haven't noticed, there's a new "Collections" tab at the top of the page. This is going to replace the thousands of tags we currently have. Unfortunately Patreon doesn't have the best content management system so it can make it hard to search for reactions you want to watch. While we do have www.popcornrequests.com which lists all of my reactions with much more data, collections will be used as an alternative for those who wish to stay on the Patreon website while "browsing" through all of the reactions. The collections page will be updated over time. I have some ideas for collections, but if you have any categories you'd like to see please leave a comment and let me know!
The second new feature is the "Shop", which we have access to but haven't implemented quite yet because we're not sure it'll be worth it. Basically, this would allow visitors to purchase specific reactions with no need to subscribe. So if there is a movie that someone wants to see, but doesn't want to "subscribe" to a Patreon tier they can purchase it as a one-off. I'm basically looking for your opinions on this.
I also need your suggestions on something else. For every full length reaction I post, I typically write a small paragraph summarizing my thoughts on the movie/show. These are difficult for me to write because I don't want to spoil to much. I guess my question is, do you want me to continue writing those paragraphs with my thoughts, or leave it a surprise for when you watch the reaction? I'll leave a comment for both options below, and make sure the heart the one you prefer.
Last thing. We have some rules here on Patreon, which you can find on the pinned FAQ post. I've been really set on making this a community where you can have open conversation, with no moderation. It will continue to stay open and the moderation will be minimal, but Ben has access with a Patreon team account and will start using it to remove comments that aren't in line with the rules. The rules are super simple and easy to follow, so please check them out and refresh your memories.
That's all for now. Sorry for the wall of text!! Thanks so much to all of you for being on Patreon. I love you guys and the community we've built here so much and hope it continues for many years to come!!
To summarize:
- Collections - these will allow you to browse "collections" of reactions. Please give me your ideas on some good categories to add.
- Shop - Is it worth implementing? Let me know your thoughts.
- Reaction Summaries - Should I continue writing the paragraphs that often spoil the reaction or just keep it simple? Heart the comment below that best fits your opinion.
- Patreon Moderation - Ben will start moderating comments that don't align with the rules in the FAQ. I think the biggest violation of this are spoilers, and so if your comment contains any, they will be removed. Please read the rules as there are only 5 of them and they're all based on common sense.

2024-08-15 10:01:50 +0000 UTCThis article is a real eye-opener! I love the way you present information in a coherent and easy-to-understand manner. Even though the topic is quite complex, the explanation is very clear and relatable. This is what makes me feel at home reading this blog. Keep writing in an engaging style like this, because your writing will definitely help many people. SLOT GACOR REKOMENDASI

2024-08-14 08:08:23 +0000 UTCShop: This could well be aimed at me. I am usually happy to watch the edited reactions on YT, but twice - for The Lord of the Rings and The Queen's Gambit - I have signed up here for the full reactions. I then hung around for a little while before cancelling. I'm only signed up now to post this (sorry!!). Anyway, I'm not sure how many would do the same but I would be interested in buying individual reactions.

2023-09-17 12:08:46 +0000 UTCI like your summaries. You don't spoil anything and they build a bit of anticipation. They make me want to watch your reaction even more. I definitely understand why they'd be difficult to write sometimes, but you're really good at it! If a particular movie summary is stressing you out, just a sentence or two is usually enough.

2023-09-15 13:20:53 +0000 UTCI'd still like a quick paragraph/sentence, it doesn't have to be profound or clever, so should be stress free for you. I'll be watching the reaction one way or the other in all likelihood whatever wins out. The example of The Game left you Reeling was great, as it conjured up all sorts of possibilities.

2023-09-15 12:58:17 +0000 UTCCollections: I think series and franchises should have a collection. Maybe some high-profile genres besides war, like action, comedy. Another idea: collections for every decade. Golden Age (50s and before), 1960s, 1970s, etc. Maybe not the best way of sorting reactions but divide and conquer. Shop: I don't think I would be using it here. But having the option to buy a single full-length reaction for $2-3 to test how that would work, instead of paying the $14 for the salt tier may have convinced me earlier to join. Summaries: I enjoy reading them, so my preference would be to keep them. However, I respect your decision if you find them too tedious to write. For those who are worried about spoilers, they can always skip the summaries and watch the reaction directly. I usually do that for movies I haven't seen yet. Moderation: sad it has to come to this, especially because of the extra time it requires. I've also seen increasing number of comments getting political or careless about spoilers before the reaction has been posted. Although I think discussing the actual movie, its details and the reaction itself in the comment section of that post, with details that otherwise would constitute as spoiler, should be fair game.

2023-09-15 02:46:51 +0000 UTCThey'll pay whatever the reactor has priced them at if they feel it is a good price. It doesn't hurt to have another avenue of accessing watchalong content. Keep in mind that the money is still going to the reactor and Patreon is taking a smaller cut for Shop items than they do for memberships.
kaiielle
2023-09-15 02:14:53 +0000 UTCThey must REALLY love some of those movie reactions to buy them individually. I wonder how much they're willing to pay?
Jeffrey Schmidbauer
2023-09-15 01:30:19 +0000 UTCThere are some other reactors with the Shop feature who have definitely had a number of sales with it. If you provide the option, the people who find value in it will use it. And it doesn't hurt the people who choose to be subscribed! I commented earlier on this post, but to shorten what I said, I really hope that most reactors will use the Shop feature so that I can purchase the specific watchalongs that I'd like from a wide variety of reactors, without having to deal with the hassle of subscribing/cancelling a dozen times.

2023-09-15 01:14:11 +0000 UTCI'm a little confused by this comment because you've said "if she stopped telling Cassie how she thinks a movie is going to end"... How is that spoiling things? It sounds like you're asking Carly to stop making predictions in the event that she ends up being correct, but please correct me if I'm wrong!

2023-09-15 00:40:10 +0000 UTCSpeaking of spoilers. We wish Carly would stop spoiling the ending to movies. If you can pass that on that would be great. We might start watching the movies with her again if she stopped telling Cassie how she thinks a movie is going to end. It spoils it for my wife because these are her first time watching and for myself because Cassie isn't surprised. Thanks in advance.

2023-09-14 21:55:41 +0000 UTCJeff if the tumblers, or insulated cups ever go on sale again, I highly recommend them!!! Also, if you see Cassie or Carly wearing a shirt that is not for sale, let them know, maybe they'll do a limited re-issue with enough demand.

2023-09-14 21:55:13 +0000 UTCIf you are currently a paying member, the Shop won't apply to you. The Shop is for non-patrons.

Björn Karlsson
2023-09-14 21:27:43 +0000 UTCiirc, she did have a tier like that a while ago but it was discontinued. I think she had issues balancing it with the regular reactions or something.

2023-09-14 21:10:14 +0000 UTC"Hey beautiful people!! Hope you're having a great week so far." I'm not sure I would have called it great, but I just found out that I'm beautiful, so I've got that going for me. Regarding the shop, it seems like a good idea. I can actually see myself using or "gifting" that option. (This is, of course, as long as the Shop doesn't start poaching material from the old-school subscriptions, which I would find very annoying.) "Rules: Be kind to each other." Smoke you!!! ... Wrong answer? [Source: https://youtu.be/ySdvixqjwaw?t=1304s ]

2023-09-14 19:46:14 +0000 UTCI don't think there will be many one-off purchasers to begin with when there are so many other YouTubers who do the same thing as Cassie does...and for free.
Jeffrey Schmidbauer
2023-09-14 19:37:45 +0000 UTCWell, the infrequent purchasers will be happy, and those who find it difficult to stop at just one will get "roped into" the standard subscriptions. Seems like a win-win.

2023-09-14 19:33:46 +0000 UTCI don't like the shopping for individual movies because i can't afford that .sometimes i have to rent movies from youtube and paying to watch a particular movie.i love the watch alongs and usually watch 2 a day. it's like watching with a friend. overall, that's a bad idea.

2023-09-14 17:15:45 +0000 UTCI would like to see your merch.
Jeffrey Schmidbauer
2023-09-14 16:52:50 +0000 UTCI don't think shopping for individual movie reactions will work. You either subscribe or not. I don't think there'll be very many "one-off" purchasers. On the back end, the cost will be more than just plain subscribing.
Jeffrey Schmidbauer
2023-09-14 16:49:21 +0000 UTCDefinitely keep the summaries. The channel it’s a great success Because of the work you do keep doing what you’ve been doing
Doc Larry
2023-09-14 15:46:23 +0000 UTCSummaries - I like what you do. It may be hard but I always look for a clue in them about the reaction. And, if you really DIDN'T like a film and want to hide it (which you should), I feel you handle that well and are appropriately subtle. Because it's true: most of us want to see that you LOVED a film, especially if we're going to invest two hours in watching a reaction. The discovery of this is a big part of our investment in these. Should you have a number or grade review without a summary? Hmm. don't know. There are members here who would probably HATE that. You could always have someone else write the summary, with an emphasis on the funny. Example: "Our heroine talks about a new chocolate bar she found, has an issue with our villain's hygiene, and is incredibly surprised when Bruce Willis makes THAT decision!"
Kent Theaker
2023-09-14 15:34:05 +0000 UTCYes on shop please
Jonathan Hall
2023-09-14 15:07:01 +0000 UTCCassie, I feel like writing some of your thoughts in the description of your full length reactions is only an issue when you didn’t really enjoy the movie. I don’t recall anyone getting upset when you say you absolutely loved the movie. Only when you have a lukewarm reaction to it. I guess it’s because the person loves a certain movie. And they want you to love it too. Only to find out you didn’t in the description even before they watch your reaction. What to do? Only leave a comment on movies you love? I don’t think that’s a solution. I personally love your comments, good or bad, in the full length reaction. But that’s just me. Ultimately, you’re never gonna please everyone. Do what feels best for you Cassie.
Robert da Spruce
2023-09-14 14:50:29 +0000 UTCThe collections and the shop both seem like very sensible ideas to me. I have no issue with your paragraph under the videos either. I've never seen them as spoilers in any way, and sometimes it adds a bit of anticipation - like when you revealed how The Game left you reeling, I knew it was going to be a fun reaction to watch.
Henry Graham
2023-09-14 14:45:42 +0000 UTCHonestly I don't have much of opinion about these updates! I mean it's your Patreon, do with it as you please lol! I myself enjoy just being the normal patron on here and it's no issue for me when searching for your full length reactions, since I always immediately get an email when you post them on here lol! As for moderation, I humbly oblige by your rules and you won't have to worry about me breaking any of them! I try my best, when it comes to spoilers, not to spoil anything after watching your reactions! I might mention a scene or two, but only involving my favorite moment in the reaction when you do something that makes me laugh, but I will never spoil a certain scene that might be vital to the movies' plot! As for your reaction summaries, I enjoy reading them, it always makes me smile when I hear you say positive things about any of my favorite movies that you react to for the first time and just makes me eager to watch your reaction to it! Even movies that I've never seen before, I always smile when I read your positive summary, depending on the movie, I'm not bothered by spoilers much! So I say, keep it going with your summaries of your reactions, no worries at all about typing so much text here lol! Kinda like how I am sometimes lol! Just a heads up, I sent you a PM on here containing some big news lol! Love and support always🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

2023-09-14 11:45:57 +0000 UTCI like the paragraph but if it’s too difficult I think people would understand. Something that could help with it though is you could have a brief paragraph (or a few sentences) about the subject then put a bunch of asterisks with Spoiler Warning then talk about the movie more in depth. Example of how it would look ***************************************************** SPOILER WARNING ************ ******************************************* People could do the same for comment to avoid potentially ruining the movie for some.
John Cohen
2023-09-14 11:41:52 +0000 UTCI like your paragraph on each reaction. You have a very nice personal touch to your channel
Joshua Stormont
2023-09-14 11:29:17 +0000 UTCCollections...i'd just do the genre, go off what IMDB do. Thriller/Drama etc. Could do a few collections of particular actors. Bruce Willis collection/Arnold Schwarzenegger collection etc.
Alex
2023-09-14 10:58:38 +0000 UTCRegarding the shop. How about a "pay-to-react" where one could pay to get your reaction to a movie, avoiding the democracy where a lot of amazing movies are left behind by not being popular enough? Understandably it would be pricy and limited to like max 1 or 2 a month, first come first served.
Lachrisho
2023-09-14 07:19:56 +0000 UTCCollections- Sorry I don't have any good ideas on collections. Keep it simple. I'd rather look through 20 groups of 30 movies than 100 groups of 6 movies. Paragraphs- While I do enjoy reading the paragraphs I would say ditch them IF they cause you stress. They are really easy to not read though so I dont see the big deal either way. Shop- would these "purchases" be more like 1 month rentals or permanent purchases? Cuz if its permanent it sounds like a great way to lose money for you. And even if they are only rentals I don't see the benefit for you guys. Its 10 bucks for a month of unlimited access to PiB- a sandwich can cost more these days. Moderation- its your channel so your call. Personally I'm not a huge fan of (most) moderation so I'm happy to hear at least that Ben will be involved.
My_Cousin_Mose
2023-09-14 06:14:36 +0000 UTCThe shop feature could be a good promotional idea. I don't know how much they would make directly, but giving people the ability to watch one full video with a low barrier to entry could drive new subscriptions. You could possibly accomplish the same thing with less work by posting the occasional full video on youtube as a promotion. Perhaps an old video for a limited time. You'd have to experiment. Making it a limited time incentivizes people to watch it now, instead of forgetting to watch it later.

2023-09-14 05:52:45 +0000 UTCI am hearing for a summary, but if it is too hard, perhaps some emojis that indicate how you feel. 😫😳😄😂🥱
Brian McGovern
2023-09-14 05:21:21 +0000 UTCI like your reaction summaries. I hope you keep them. Good that comments is being moderated. It only takes a few to do much damage.
Björn Von Knorring
2023-09-14 04:47:43 +0000 UTCFor collections I would suggest at least Science Fiction and Comedy/feelgood. The A-Z section is a really good feature for searching, but more genre options is good for people who are new and want to browse. The shop feature might be interesting for some, but personally I prefer the subscription. If it is a lot of extra work I'm not sure I would be bothered to add it. The reaction summaries: Personally, I really enjoy them and I always read it before watching the video. I actually feel reassured if you seem excited about it or hint about it not being your favorite. That way I know what to expect and can adjust my vibe/mood. Yeah, the rules are very reasonable imo and glad if spoilers will be removed. It's a shame if it causes lots of extra work for you, but appreciate the attention you guys give it. Thanks for the update and have a good week! :)

2023-09-14 04:19:10 +0000 UTCwhat you talked about with Vietnam and AIDS can be discussed amongst most people without bringing politics into it. I am talking about politics today and "my candidate is the best and your candidate sucks" kind of thing. Vietnam was (WOW) 60 years or so ago. AIDS started back in the 80's. People can have rational discussions about case and effect of these issues.
Bill Maurer
2023-09-14 04:03:43 +0000 UTCThe shop sounds like a fun idea. I look forward to more romantic comedy reactions. (There's still some out there!) I enjoy your reaction summaries Keep em coming just as you have previously! Love being a member of Popcorn in Bed!

2023-09-14 03:19:15 +0000 UTCCassie/Ben, I've sent you a couple of replies on Gmail and Patreon. I'm wondering if they went through.

2023-09-14 02:53:58 +0000 UTCFirst off - Hey Ben! YAY! lol Well - as for the collection system, I'd say if its better for you and Ben YAY! I've generally tried to 'keep up' with the current posts, albeit I still haven't watched Creed yet as the 4 letter word: "Work" keeps getting in the way lol Next: I donno about the store thing. Someone posted something about someone using a 'month sub' to access and I'd agree with that. As for Summaries - what ever is 'best for you and yours' lol Moderation: YAY! Get'em Ben! lol I myself subbed because of the YT Lord of the Rings! My wife said: "Who are they?" I told her that you two where sisters and she said: "Oh! Now you have a possy to watch LotR" and she laughed. Okay! Okay! I'll admit it... I've watched LotR & both of your versions (Carly! YAY!) too many times to count; mostly when I do watch it I'll put it on before I got to sleep and I usually fall asleep by the time Bilbo leaves Hobbiton lol Thank you all for all you do for us!

2023-09-14 02:33:49 +0000 UTCI think you’re largely right about avoiding politics. It’s just too easy to turn a thread upside down. That said, there are some movies where I don’t know if politics can be avoided in in-depth discussion. Like, I don’t know how you discuss Platoon in real depth without expressing an opinion on the Vietnam conflict, or discuss Philadelphia without delving AT ALL into anti-gay rhetoric or the attitude towards AIDS patients in the early days of the virus. Those subjects are inherently political. It’s a conundrum.

2023-09-14 02:28:41 +0000 UTCI like the summaries, but if they are stressful to write without spoilers, I'd say let them go. As for the rest, no particular opinion. Hopefully, you will never have to deal with moderation - but it is the internet (although I would hope that paid subscribers would be a bit more serious about it). Another comment not related to the post - this is the best-edited reaction channel I have found. The YT versions are always coherent and to the point. One of the reasons that I am a subscriber.
Steve Miller
2023-09-14 02:11:43 +0000 UTCI really agree. One of the things I like most about reactors is hearing their thoughts about a movie, and usually they can't get into a lot of detail while the movie is playing. Some of my favorite reactors go on for at least several minutes after the reaction to discuss their observations, the things that stuck out for them, the plot, etc.

2023-09-14 01:59:52 +0000 UTCWell Cassie of course you want to know and hear more about the reaction you always have towards the movie you just watch that's why we're here ❤️🍿👍😎 and about the rules being broken and for the people who help Cassie run the channel I personally do my best to get along with everybody and I know that my movie pics and recommendations are not the popular ones they're just mostly from my childhood and sometimes that bumps heads with people but I did my very best to get along with everybody and to see what their movie recommendations are because I love to talk about movies all categories
Manuel Villacana
2023-09-14 01:46:40 +0000 UTCAs far as Collections; I would suggest categories like ‘Based on a True Story’; ‘Biographical’ movies; ‘Rewatch’ one movie monthly or bi-monthly of movies you’ve seen but not on PIB or movies either you or your sister haven’t seen but one of you has. Another category could be ‘Animated’ movies over the decades or ‘Science Fiction’. As far as the summary paragraph I’ve never been spoiled by it. It’s brief and vague enough that it gives a brief sample of your opinion but doesn’t take away from your reactions during the movie. Just throwing this out there, maybe you already have this and I’m not aware but maybe a merch store for PIB T-Shirts; Hoodies, mugs, etc with PIB logo’s. Or Carrie and or Carly catch phrases like ‘fric, fric, fric’ (my personal favorite) on a coffee mug, or other gems from both of your reactions. Keep up the good work. I enjoy the solo reactions and the (C&C) sister edition vids.

2023-09-14 01:31:10 +0000 UTCI absolutely salute Ben doing this. It will make the channel so much better. Thank You Cassie.
Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)
2023-09-14 01:19:02 +0000 UTCI like the summaries about your reaction. It prepares me when you note that you didn't really care for a film, especially when it is one of my favorites. I think you should add "Science Fiction" and "Superhero" categories to your Collections page.
Michael Gilbrook
2023-09-14 01:04:19 +0000 UTCIf you continue with the summaries, maybe just slap a *spoiler warning* at the beginning (or when it's appropriate) and people can continue to read at their own peril. Then you don't need to worry about revealing too much.
Grad
2023-09-14 00:56:54 +0000 UTCThe shop thing is a great idea. People who can’t do the monthly subscription have an option.

2023-09-14 00:39:47 +0000 UTCI would rather be surprised. I always have to hide my screen so that I don't see the commentary before watching the reaction. I love listening to it after the movie just not beforehand.
Christopher Campbell
2023-09-14 00:39:36 +0000 UTCThis is not what you asked, but I’d love to hear more commentary after the movie. Very often you have just a few short comments and then you’re done, but I’d love to hear more.
Michael Weiner
2023-09-14 00:34:30 +0000 UTCI don’t read the introduction paragraph that accompanies the Reaction post until AFTER I’ve watched the Reaction. So me personally, it’s not that big a deal. That being said… I DO read them. Whatever causes you the least amount of stress is Great with me.

2023-09-14 00:24:44 +0000 UTC"That one title" you know like Rosemary's Baby.
Mannygogou
2023-09-14 00:16:59 +0000 UTCIn which case, I think the shop is a great idea as long as it doesn't mean more work for Cassie, it will bring in a little more revenue and give people an introduction to the patreon experience without any commitment. Also great if you are short on funds but just really want to see a specific reaction.
Shadow Queen
2023-09-14 00:13:41 +0000 UTCNon-members paying for the privilege of watching the full reactions could help offset some of the cost of producing said reactions,I'm paying for patreon requests on other channels,to me it's worth it..

2023-09-14 00:13:05 +0000 UTCCollections - Oh it looks interesting so far! In addition to what you already have, you could add categories such as - "For a Laugh" - "For Love" - "Series" - and "Newest Stuff" Shop - I think it's interesting. You could price it thus "3 Titles for $9.99" which is about a month's subscription right? Normally a subscriber can browse through the catalog as well as getting the newest hot titles, yes? For a short-run series you might provide the complete set for $19.95 for example if it's around 12-hours combined. You might not need to price it at whole numbers because taxes will be charged anyway so that $10 won't be $10 anyway, why not have fun and say it's $9.99 "Why that's only $3.33 for each movie title!" Actual total may be $10.07 anyway (??) Oh for 1 movie title it's $5 - I'm sure this is worth it for those who only want one title, that one title that stirs their soul. Reaction summaries - I think if a short sentence comes to your mind quickly you may use it, for example "This threw me for a loop! I can't, I won't believe it" lol - Oh wait, I know a reactor who picks a quote from the flick, like thus "I know you. You're that smelly carpenter who hates me!" But if nothing comes to mind you can leave it blank. Patreon moderation of comments - sounds good...
Mannygogou
2023-09-14 00:09:12 +0000 UTCDon't bother with writing the paragraphs. It's only redundant, considering that you're already verbally and non-verbally reacting in real time.
Kuskesh Haramzadeh
2023-09-14 00:09:05 +0000 UTCI vote for keeping the blurbs on video descriptions. It can increase my excitement for your reaction or temper my expectations. It doesn't need to be complicated. Just a couple lines to give a peek into your feelings.

2023-09-14 00:08:34 +0000 UTCSummaries: keep it short and sweet. Shop: I think it's a good option for people, even though I don't need it. Collections ideas: reactions with Carly, commercials, tearjerkers, scared us, favorites (yours & carly's) Moderation: definitely needed, there are some very toxic and creepy patrons here. No fault of yours, a huge following means more issues with this.

2023-09-14 00:07:56 +0000 UTCSince it would save you some time I say skip the paragraphs. You already give a review at the end of the reaction, that should be enough for any body.

2023-09-14 00:05:36 +0000 UTCThe Shop isn't a request feature. It would be a way for non-patrons to purchase watchalongs of their choice without having to become a member to get them.

2023-09-14 00:05:33 +0000 UTCAs far as summaries go I like them. That being said, I think you once said you "dread" them. If dread is affecting your mood and affecting those around you then STOP. If it is dread like "I dread cleaning the litter box, but I do it because I love my cats", I hope you keep them. Love what you do here, but you have to take care of yourself, we will adjust.

2023-09-14 00:04:10 +0000 UTCI think the shop is a great way to generate more revenue from past reactions so you can keep the channel going. Plus it’ll give people a taste of why subscribing is a good idea. Now that I’m watching your full-length reactions I wouldn’t want to go back to your YouTube edits, as excellent as they were. Regarding your summary text, I would prefer you didn’t write anything. That way the only way I’ll know if you liked the movie is by watching your reaction to it.

2023-09-13 23:52:12 +0000 UTCThough you are great at the paragraphs you have mentioned that you mostly dread them as it can be difficult and sometimes frustrating to try and sum up an immersive experience so succinctly. Since these paragraphs are not crucial to the success of PIB, maybe it would be better to discontinue them? Some people are great in front of an audience, but they find it draining rather than invigorating. So, if asked to do it regularly it can negatively affect many of their other daily tasks and eventually even impact their overall health. It’s important to find work you love to do, but sometimes it is equally important just to fill your daily routine with work you don’t mind doing.

2023-09-13 23:50:15 +0000 UTCPersonally, I enjoy reading the little paragraphs you write about the films before I watch the reaction. Sometimes I've even noticed that your thoughts on the film have changed somewhat since the actual reaction and I like hearing about that.

2023-09-13 23:48:42 +0000 UTCAddendum: what if it's not necessarily paragraphs but just a sentence or two expressing how you felt by the end of it? Like: "holy crap, that was a ride I didn't expect to take" - that could swing both positively or negatively, so people have to watch the reaction to find out. I don't know, this may be a stupid suggestion 😂
Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary
2023-09-13 23:48:28 +0000 UTCI usually only read the first scentance of the summary to get a feel for if you liked it or not. Sometimes I use that to judge if I want to watch the whole movie with you or wait for the shorter YouTube drop. But I almost never read the whole thing. Hope that helps.
Seymor Butz
2023-09-13 23:45:34 +0000 UTCI personally wouldn't use the shop. Because you know there's going to be more than one person out there that buys a couple reactions and then decides they want to be a patron so they'll be paying multiple times in a sense if they did that.
Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary
2023-09-13 23:44:16 +0000 UTCI think there's a bit of confusion about the shop - I don't think it would allow people to put in a specific request for a movie reaction, I think it means that if someone just wants access to Cassie's full length reaction to LOTR for example, but nothing else, they can just pay an amount to watch that, without everything else that comes along with the relevant tier?
Shadow Queen
2023-09-13 23:40:10 +0000 UTCA mob poll is long overdue. And maybe a new TV series poll ?? A one season series...like True Detective...meaning season two isn't necessarily tied in any way to season one. I vote Fargo.
nick bell
2023-09-13 23:34:34 +0000 UTCI don't mind the shop thing as a concept however I think your channel is too popular and that you'll get a large amount of requests that would be difficult to honor. There's plenty of movies that won't win a poll but I would love to see, and am willing to pay a little extra for the reaction, I just think the system would break down with too many requests.

2023-09-13 23:29:04 +0000 UTCCategories: Decades, Popcorn Picks of the Month, reactions with Carly Shop: Maybe for new merch perhaps. Reaction Summaries: I personally don't read them because I like seeing the first impression come organically. I enjoy the outros and would even say those could be longer.

2023-09-13 23:21:43 +0000 UTCI like the paragraphs. When reactors just upload their reactions without a comment, it comes across to me as impersonal, like they just wanted to get the thing uploaded. Or it gives the impression that the reactor is indifferent to the movie. As far as being "spoiled," I mean, I don't really see the reaction itself as something that can be spoiled. The enjoyment comes from seeing your response, which will be intact regardless if we know in advance if it's a positive/negative response. I guess the only thing to look out for is if you explicitly mention a surprise plot point in the paragraph, but that should be easy enough to avoid.

2023-09-13 23:20:26 +0000 UTCI enjoy the reaction paragraphs from Patreon reactors, I would definitely like to keep seeing those. Very few people are watching these movies for the first time, so in my opinion as long as there are no massive spoilers it's not a problem. Besides, if a person hasn't seen the movie they simply don't have to read it, or read it afterward if they want.

2023-09-13 23:09:52 +0000 UTCThe Shop would definitely get some use as there are lots of people out there who perhaps don't have the time or interest to watch every single watchalong that Cassie does and if they don't take advantage of the other Patreon benefits, they may feel the membership isn't worth it. So the Shop would allow them to pick and pay for the specific watchalongs they'd want to and they wouldn't have to bother with the membership.

2023-09-13 22:55:50 +0000 UTCI don’t mind losing the post paragraphs, especially if you don’t enjoy doing them. I wouldn’t spend too much energy worrying about it. 2023-09-13 22:44:31 +0000 UTCI'm indifferent on the summaries, but about the Patreon Shop - this is something that I hope every reactor can make time for once it's a feature that is available to everyone. I watch multiple reaction channels, so I can't afford to be subscribed to everyone's Patreon and don't really want the hassle of subbing/cancelling so many times either, but there are still the odd watchalongs I'd like to be able to see. Individual purchases for those would be so much easier and cheaper for me and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way! I know it's a lot of work to do to get *everything* up on it that you've reacted to, but you could always start with your most viewed reactions on the channel and get those full-lengths on the Shop and work your way down. It doesn't hurt to have them as an option.
kaiielle
2023-09-13 22:43:07 +0000 UTCCollections - I think a special collection of reactions that include all videos that include you being chased by insects. Sorry, but I never grow tired of these! :) Shop - The way I see it, anyone can pay $10 to get an entire month of watching all of your videos and then cancel, so I'm not sure that this provides much value for this type of Patreon site. I think this is intended more for other sites that deal with creative arts like music or visual arts where someone might want one painting or one song. If it's inexpensive enough to be worth it, then it will hurt sales of your memberships and if it's expensive enough so that it doesn't hurt your memberships then a 1-month membership is a better value. Summaries - You are usually pretty careful to not give too much away. For example, I don't think it was much of a spoiler that you told us that Bridge over thet River Kwai is a war movie. Keep them if you want.
Alan Kobb
2023-09-13 22:42:28 +0000 UTCSummations aren't necessary. No biggie if Cassie discontinues them. I was going to say "dropped them" but in today's vernacular, "dropped" has a completely different meaning.
Jeffrey Schmidbauer
2023-09-13 22:39:45 +0000 UTCI have no issue with you doing summaries, because it’s easy to overlook it if I don’t want to see it. However, if you’re at all looking for a way out of doing them because they stress you out, then I’m also ok with you dropping them.😊
Cole Jennett
2023-09-13 22:39:38 +0000 UTCAlso please add a GOAT category that only contains LOTRs. A Best Reactions category with the reaction to The Replacements in it would also be wonderful. That way new Patreon knows.
Andrew Ramos
2023-09-13 22:39:09 +0000 UTCCollections seems like a good idea depending on how it’s implemented. Although I enjoy the summaries, it might save you time and effort and others from spoilers. Moderation seems fine, it does get off the tracks from time to time, but as long as no one gets overly personal or hostile, but it’s not my channel. Shop seems like a solid idea, but could also hurt the channel a little. I think you keep it very balanced on what is being watched with lots of heads up time for subscribers. If someone really wanted to watch a reaction that badly, they might be willing to pay, but others may not depending on their financial situation. However if you make the price user friendly a lot of people may opt out and just go with one-off reactions. Tough call either way, it’s not like you charge a ton for reactions anyway, so I’d leave it as is.
Andrew Hogan
2023-09-13 22:38:30 +0000 UTCPeople have to become members for the benefits like polls and Discord. Shop just allows folks to bypass the subscription and just obtain specific reactions!

2023-09-13 22:38:24 +0000 UTCI am indifferent about the summaries I never read them personally I like to go in blind to your opinion. Moderation is probably a good idea I’ve seen some not so nice comment recently so I think it’s needed. Idk how I feel about the shop honestly you will probably get absolutely flooded with purchases to watch stuff that you’ll never be able to wanna watch the stuff we suggest or vote on. Also what is the point of someone who isn’t subscribed to your patron purchasing it if they don’t get to see the full reaction? Unless purchasing it gives them access to the one movie. I’m wary about that one.
Alex Gorell
2023-09-13 22:37:17 +0000 UTCHaving a fee for individual reactions might be a good 'loss leader" that brings in extra revenue for those that don't want a full subscription and just want to sample a specific reaction as well as being a way to entice these samplers into being full subscriptions. As for myself, I will continue to subscribe month to month as I am addicted now to the full reactions, I can't imagine not seeing them on a constant basis!

2023-09-13 22:37:07 +0000 UTCI enjoy reading your summaries on the full lengths, the Shop is a good idea but,I'm thinking make it available to members also whom don't mind paying for it,I wouldn't mind paying for a patreon request,Ben as moderator #1, I'm all for it ♡ :)
Celeste McAllister
2023-09-13 22:36:26 +0000 UTCAlso in so far as the purchases go, I think it's a good idea to attract more patreon members... if they purchase a movie or two they will likely pull the trigger and join. Imho.
Andrew Rose
2023-09-13 22:35:48 +0000 UTCThe summaries are fine but if finding the right balance of what to say and what not to say is difficult and time consuming just remember we are here for the reactions anyways. I wouldn't be upset if they are gone. Especially on the late night releases. Go to bed Cassie!
Andrew Ramos
2023-09-13 22:35:45 +0000 UTCI like having your thoughts in the summaries that you post as it makes it easier for me to determine whether to watch a reaction. I mean even if I liked a movie the last thing I want to do is watch you hate it for 2 hours straight lol. That, however, will have an adverse affect on whether some people tune in to particular reactions and your best bet may be to just go with the short descriptions instead.
Andrew Rose
2023-09-13 22:34:19 +0000 UTCI enjoy your summaries but I don't think they are critical. Leaving them off wouldn't affect my enjoyment of your reaction at all.

2023-09-13 22:31:45 +0000 UTCI think it would be simpler for you instead of writing a paragraph or two summerizing your views of the film (which some consider a reaction spoiler) to just acknowledging that you have watched said film and include any facts that are pertinent such as which version you watched (theatrical or extended if at all applicable) and any such facts you find necessary ("I just watched this X film and I can't wait to see what you guys think about it!") and leaving it a mystery as to what you actually thought of the film. Let us find out! It's more fun that way!

2023-09-13 22:30:35 +0000 UTCI like your paragraphs on full reactions. It gives it a personal touch. I’ve seen other reactors that don’t write anything. It’s fine, but not as personable and more businesslike IMO. One of the many reasons I like you is how friendly and interactive you are with your Patrons. Saying nothing would somehow take away from that in my opinion.

2023-09-13 22:28:29 +0000 UTC"The second new feature is the "Shop", which we have access to but haven't implemented quite yet because we're not sure it'll be worth it." I have said for a long time that this should be a thing. Price it accordingly, like $3 each, so if you watch more than 3 reactions it's more worth just subbing. The only way to know how it will go is to try it out and announce it on YT reactions. Individual purchases should also not come with any benefits, like polls, Discord, etc...
PapaXan
2023-09-13 22:28:25 +0000 UTCI would love the shop option for some of reactions outside of my kernel level. I've thought often about upping my tier for a month so I can scope out a few I can't see, but that would make me feel like a jerk, it would be nice to have a more above board way of doing so. That's my big thought. Thanks for the idea!

2023-09-13 22:28:19 +0000 UTCCollections should be better than what there is now. Keep the summaries. Nice to hear what you think of the movie/show. Moderation, please, be kind.
