Hey everyone!
Always a hard day, 9/11. I can remember every single detail of that day as I’m sure you all do as well. I was young enough that it was the first time I really learned about terrorism and it rocked me and took away some innocence that that kind of hatred existed. The beautiful thing though, was to witness the helpers after the attack. The unity and goodness showed a beautiful side of humanity too. Never Forget. I will never forget.
It is my life long best friend’s birthday today, the best part of 9/11 we’re celebrating with a pickle-ball date and dinner and ice cream!

This week, we are entering the jungle baby!! I’m weirdly excited about this animal week AND next week for FOUR FACTOR WEEK! AND TRIVIA NIGHT! AND ICE CREAM!

One of my fav Patreon nights, can’t wait!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! You’re the good part!
Cassie

13 Hours would have been good to watch on 9/11, as the real event it was based on happened on a 9/11 anniversary in 2012. I still remember that day, I was in 5th grade I think and didn’t quite understand what was going on but knew it was bad. Boy did it sure change the world though..

The term "White Knight" is commonly used for people who are overly protective and who want to be seen as a hero to the people they're "protecting". It's been used a lot (not just by me) to describe a segment of Cassie's patrons who jump to attack any movie that has more violence than Rocky, and using the cheap tactic of accusing people who disagree with them, or vote for movies they deem unsuitable for Cassie, of wanting to "torture" her is a very common thing they do. So yes, after years of seeing their garbage I am very dismissive of their nasty, underhanded tactics, as anyone should be. They don't all do it, and I've had some reasonable discussions with the ones who don't, but for anyone who employs cheap tactics like labeling people they disagree with as sadists yes, I'm very dismissive of them.

I'll admit, "passionate" would have probably been a better descriptor than my saying "aggressive", my apologies there. It was the manner in which you labeled them a "white knight" that read to me as a bit dismissive and patronizing; if that was not your intent, that's my misunderstanding and I'm happy to leave it alone. To paraphrase the great Peter Sellers: "Gentlemen, we can't fight in here! This is the PIB room!"

The rat in The Abyss has more screen time than the bear does in The Reverant. Would you consider The Abyss an "animal movie"?

2023-09-14 14:53:04 +0000 UTC
@Christopher B. Why do you take disagreement as aggression? I neither threatened or insulted the person I was disagreeing with. Meanwhile the person I disagreed with was claiming a big section of Cassie's patrons enjoy seeing her "suffer" - which is definitely insulting as far as I'm concerned.. I know many people here are getting tired of being told they hate Cassie or enjoy torturing her every time there's a movie on a poll that might be the least bit challenging. If no one pushes back against these people they will just get worse, to the point where everything will be G-rated children fare,. Your last sentence said we don't have to feel the same about every movie, but this isn't about the movie. It's about people who pretend to know what other people are thinking and and try to police what movies are watched on this channel. This is my favorite reaction channel, Cassie's my favorite reactor, and I won't just sit back and watch some people try to impose their will over the channel as to what can and can't be watched without saying something.

I think your aggression is not helpful, no need to be confrontational when saying you disagree with something another person said. I don’t know that I necessarily agree with Zynjams assertion either, but that’s fine; we don’t have to all feel the same about any given movie.

Weird. I grew up watching all 80s and 90s movies, and I also never had any desire to watch Turner & Hooch. Just seemed silly. And I even loved K-9 (1989). Only 2 Tom Hanks films from the 80s and 90s after Splash that I haven’t seen… This one and Punchline (1988).

Appears in seconds long intervals. I'm not saying it's on less than the bear in The Revenant, but it's screen time is not exactly Hachi: a dog's tale either is it?

@zynjams - Yes, everyone who voted for The Revenant secretly hates Cassie and wants to torture her. Or maybe they just thought it was the best choice on the poll? Maybe they hate Turner and Hooch and couldn't bring themselves to let it win (like me)? And maybe those people would have voted for Secretariat if it had a chance of winning (again like me). And maybe if trash movies like Anaconda and The Shallows had been replaced with something better that might have won (like Hidalgo, for instance) people would have voted for them?
Maybe you could quit trying be Cassie's White Knight by trying to make her think there are people here who hate her. There are many reasons people vote for films but I strongly doubt that the desire to torture Cassie is one of them. I vote for films based on my opinion of their quality - period. Yes, some of these films will be a challenge for her but that's a good thing - that is, after all, what she asked for when she started this channel.

I was working a phone based customer service job back on 9/11. Yeah it was easier to reach a person back then. Some woman called about 2pm had spent the day moving and no idea what happened. I took care of her customer need and explained briefly what happened and told her to plug in her TV. (One could still get networks over the air back then, too)

Thank you for honoring 9/11. I was in the 3rd grade when it happened and I remember going home from school and my parents making me watch the news with them. I still remember some of the images I saw that day. I'll admit I was too young and too invested in my own little world to be "rocked to my core" but I've never forgotten. I'll add that it wasn't just unity and goodness showed by the helpers after the attack, they also showed unbelievable courage that few possess.

I hear ya Cassie! I'll never forget waking up that morning, getting ready for school, having breakfast and the TV was on showing the footage of the World Trade Center on fire because of the planes and then the buildings collapsing, I was shocked as much as anyone was that day! I will never forget that day either and I pray to the good Lord every year to send his blessings to the families of the heroes who lost their lives that day! OMG, you and your life long best friend look so adorable together in those first two pics, silly and happy in the third and so pretty in the fourth pic lol! Happy birthday to your friend! Hope y'all had fun having dinner and ice cream, uh........🤔what's a pickle-ball? lol! Looking forward to many of the reactions coming up, this is gonna be fun! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the trivia night game on Tuesday, I work😭 Dagnabbit, I've just not been having any luck in particpating in events like that, though I at least I did once last year lol! But if I did participate and lets say for the sake of argument I won, and you allowed me to choose the flick for you (and Carly) to react to, hands down it would be Iron Will, lol! HEY, that should've been on your animal poll, it involves dogs, a dog sled race that is, oh well LOL🤣 Ha, nice use of the 007 gun barrel intro, and using that image of you and Carly in your lovely dresses when you two were at the MI7 premiere, nice! So I guess 005 is your agent number? lol! Mine would be 009 if I had to choose, because 9 is one of my lucky numbers lol! Once again I say this as a compliment, you and Carly looked so beautiful in those dresses, and if I may be so bold to say, and I also say this as a compliment while you two were in those dresses, you two have such lovely legs, SORRY X100 🙏X100, please forgive me! Like you said once, doing those squats have been paying off lol! Anyway, hope you have a wonderful week, love and support always, you and Carly are the best, [virtual hug] God bless you, Carly, and your family, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Never watched Ghost in the Darkness so looking forward to seeing that, it’s also been I long time since I’ve watched Turner & Hooch so looking forward to rewatching it to see how much I remember but like a lot of the comments at some point you really need to check out K-9 it was out about the same time and is a lot better movie as the dog Jerry is incredible and so funny it’s also got a bit of a love story from what I remember. The Revenant I’ll just be checking out on the YT edit as I can’t watch that long boring overrated movie again. You can also be forgiven thinking it was about a bear with all the hype that scene got.
You’re right about 9/11 as I’ll never forget about it. I was working in a TV Shop when it happened and seriously couldn’t believe something like this could happen to that huge scale in the US of anywhere in Europe. Also living in the U.K. I’d never seen police with guns before and that all changed after that. And it’s always in the back of my head especially after the shooting attack in Paris at a rock gig and the bomb that went off at Manchester arena at a Ariana Grande concert (which is only about 30 miles away from me). As we used to go and see loads of live music and it was always a worry it could happen to one we went to. But after something like this happens as terrible as it is you here some incredible story’s normal people helping out and letting the survivors stay at their house, just shows they is good people out there.

I totally agree, Christopher B. I was looking through the director's films, sure there was one that I liked that made me go to see his other movies, but, nope...it looks like I've never liked any of his films. Also, as far as revenge/survival in wilderness films go, The Nightingale (Jennifer Kent's follow-up to The Babadook) is way more devastating and impactful than The Revenant had any chance to be.

I had been retired from the Marine Corps for five years and was working as a program manager in my state's Department of Health. Along with some colleagues, I was getting ready for a staff meeting later that morning with people from a different part of DOH, when someone went around to all our offices and told us we needed to go to the conference room and see what was happening in New York. For I don't know how long, a room full of people just sat or stood there, horrified and feeling sick. I remember thinking that after the '93 attack on the World Trade Center and the bombings of the USS Cole and the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, I had feared that something like this might happen, but thinking I had not imagined the scale of it.
The deputy division director came in and turned off the TV and told us all to get back to work. I think he meant well - he was one of those types who avoid talking about painful subjects.
We ended up cancelling the staff meeting because half the people who had been scheduled to be there just wanted to go home and be with their families.
I still can't watch the videos of the plane hitting the second tower, of the wall of smoke and dust rolling down that street, without getting all twisted up inside. I had to start avoiding TV sets in public places.

Where was I on 9/11?
I was up the road from the Pentagon just off the B/W Parkway at Ft. Meade, teaching at Defense Information School. I remember going into the classroom where one of my fellow instructors was setting up for his class. He had the TV on. That's when I first learned of the first jet crashing into the first tower. I thought it was just a freak accident because a week prior to 9/11, I read a story of a plane crashing into the Empire State Building just after World War II ended. So, I thought, maybe it's the same deal. But then, the second crash occurred and then I knew it was intentional; a conspiracy. Everyone, students and faculty alike, were glued to any TV in the building. By noon, the Commander announced that classes were cancelled for the remainder of the day and everyone return home to be with their loved ones. We lived in Arlington, VA at the time and normally, I'd drive past the Pentagon on the way home. But not today. I took a circuitous route back home to avoid the inevitable traffic jams. I also couldn't bear to see the sight. However, the next morning, I drove past the Pentagon on the way to work and saw the carnage. EMS teams and other first responders were there to rescue as many people from the wreckage as possible. Unforgettable! The smoke from the fires drifted across the highway and it seemed like I was entering a fog bank. Then, the smell, the unforgettable smell of that smoke like an electrical fire smoldering.... our nation was changed forever.

On 9/11, I was 12 in grade 7. It was lunchtime at school and we were watching the last half of The Price Is Right, as we always did.
Our teacher came into the classroom, with this scared look on her face, and said "Everyone, somethings happened in New York. We have to change the channel." And there it was. The towers on fire and falling. That was unheard of for me at the time. 😢
When I visited the memorial site/museum 18 years later. It was so wonderful what they had done and what they were doing. The hard part for me was I could smell the remnants on the burnt debris. It was so horrible. 😭

I suppose I'll be the hot-take curmudgeon here today: I was greatly disappointed in The Revenant and felt it was wildly overpraised. It helped cement my opinion that Alejandro Inarritu is, "good, not great" as a film director, and that the all the accolades Leo had received for the movie were moreso long overdue penance for him not receiving enough recognition of the amazing performances he gave in "This Boy's Life", Catch Me If You Can", and "The Aviator".
The Ghost and the Darkness though, and *especially* Turner and Hooch: now we're cooking.

Challenge accepted! 😂 I will preface my reply by stating that enough spoilers were mentioned in the comments during the animal movie poll but I digress. Imo... animal(s) whether they are the protagonists or antagonists are featured predominantly in the film. The Ghost and The Darkness, The Edge, The Grey, Lake Placid and The Birds are examples. The Revenant doesn't fit that criteria for me. Did I change your mind Coleton? 😁

On 9/11, I was on the interstate headed east to begin a new investigation (I worked on public corruption cases for my state’s Comptroller office) and listening to the radio when I heard that a plane had hit one of the towers. I assumed that New York was fog bound and that some small plane had tragically lost its bearings. Then they said it was an airliner and that a second plane had hit the other tower. That’s when I realized what was happening. I called my boss to tell him I was taking a day of annual leave, turned the car around and went home. Spent the rest of the day watching events unfold on tv, sick to my stomach.

I was almost 20 years old when 9/11 happened. I can’t believe it was already a half a lifetime ago.
I was working my McDonald’s job at the time and somebody came into work and said that two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. I actually thought they were kidding because I was thinking “what were the odds of that happening?” Other people came into work and said the same thing. When I went on break I rushed home to see what was going on. The first tower fell before I got home.

I get to 3rd period English, and the TV is on, but before I could tell what it was, Ms. Coe walked right in, didn't even look at the TV and shut it off, and said "We don't care about any of that. I missed alot cause I was working overnight and slept through slot as well. If I remember correctly I went to a Bronco game the night before so I was so exhausted. Can't believe what I had happened when I woke that afternoon.

Cassie, I rewatched your reaction to United 93 as part of my 9-11 remembrance but did not find a reaction to "World Trade Center". The latter movie is much more family oriented and ends on a far more optimistic note than United 93, I think you and if possible your sister should watch it ASAP.

9/11 is my middle daughter's birthday, too. She turned 6 on the day of the attacks.

My 81 year old Mom loves The Ghost and The Darkness. Do not know why. She always turns to it if it is on TV. I think it's fine.

I hate to admit this, but for the first time this is a full slate of films that I have never seen before. I'm actually in the process of watching The Revenant for the first time, I've already seen two parts of the movie on different days and will probably see the last part tomorrow. It is a tough watch! Have no idea what Cassie will make of it, it might depend on the ending, which I haven't seen.
I've always wanted to watch The Ghost and The Darkness, but never have.
I have never, ever in my life had any desire whatsoever to watch Turner and Hooch, but I guess I can brave anything for Cassie! 💗💗💗

There is so much to be grateful for, thankful for, especially when we're grieving. We all lost something that day, but we also found something we were likely overlooking at the time: the value of those around us. At least we found new value in our friends, family, and helpful strangers. #LuvYaMeanIt

9/11 showed us what human beings are capable of the evil yes but it also showed us the good people helping each other people who were strangers and now friends people who have survived impossible odds in towers. And people on the 93 risking there lives to save others. I've known many stories about 9/11 (Never Forget) 🙏🙏🙏

Revenant isn’t necessarily about an animal but one could say it is a lot about nature. An animal is a def a part of the story tho.
