The Game (1997) - Full Reaction

Fun game. Best birthday present ever. Not. Cassie: "Too far, man." Yep.

Clay F

Amazing what "real" money will buy ;)

Keith Jones

It has a lot of plot holes. Like how did they know he would fire the revolver at the detective's car hood. It had to have some effect going off at a precise spot, but what if he fired at something else. Or how they would control the dog, so it would make the situation stressful, but not bite his leg off. There was no safety measures for the dog. Ok, maybe if someone was aiming at it with a tranquilizer dart sniper rifle, but it's far fetched. The dog got really close at biting him. Or when they jump down to the garbage containers, they are tiny. Could easily break your neck by missing the jump slightly and hitting the metal frame. Or why he never calls the emergency hotline (the TV newscaster gives him a hotline number when the game begins). They might have not answered, but he never even tries. And in fact, you can't open a car window like that, by rolling it down. The water pressure would press the window glass too hard against the frame. Even an electric power window wouldn't open until the car is completely flooded (and at that point, you'd be low on oxygen unless you stayed real calm and controlled your breathing while waiting). They tested this on Mythbusters. The only moment to get the door open, is right after the car has hit water. The water pressure gets too high quickly. It's a fascinating idea and great movie though. And I completely got why he would be a better person after it, and also be thankful for what he experienced.

Such a creepy creepy movie. Your reaction was much line mine first time through. Great to see it again through a new viewer's lens!

Chris Jarrett

He was blind and now he can see.

Thomas McBride

One of the most underrated and under-watched movies of the modern era. It was a real treat to watch your reaction. Watch more David Fincher movies.

Daniel N

If you’re going watch to more Michael Douglas, I highly recommend “Falling Down” . It’s very underrated and probably his best performance, in my opinion. I’m hoping more people recommend as well. Also starring the great Robert Duvall.

Joe M

What do you give someone who has everything? PTSD for the rest of their life 🤷 Thanks, Bro. (CRS) is more like (CTS)

Eddie Perkins

You all would love Fatal Attraction (1987) with him and Glenn Close. The Ghost and the Darkness is a great movie based on a true story. And {Falling Down (1993)" is my favorite movie with him; I am surprised no one has asked for it.

Eddie Perkins

Cool movie, forgot about this very strange but interesting one. I had to re join, ugh some hack or glitch on all 3 of mine.

Michael J

They needed to break him down completely, take everything away and even have him "killed" so he could be reborn as a non-asshole. 😄 Though the only thing that doesn't work for me is him jumping. And just that he lands right on the target. How did they know he would jump right there and stuff? That's the only thing that feels meh. For the rest, I love this movie.

Avastrasza

Yes. This.

Philip Alan

David Fincher, the director of this film, is a modern day Orson Wells. His films are phenomenal and hopefully you get around to seeing them all such as Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, Panic Room, Gone Girl, even his remake of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was pretty good. And in a fun twist of synchronicity Ilsa was the same woman that played Crisp's mother in Kindergarten Cop.

Blake Evans

There may be some delayed anger the next day, for sure. But, something about that last shot tells me he may still feel pretty good in the morning. ;-)

Larry Darrell

Oh, and as far as being 'too far.' The way he was made it necessary for him to change. The best changes in my life for the better were almost always traumatic and painful. If he were a more agreeable person, it wouldn't need all these extremes, cruel or not.

3dbadboy1

It was all designed to break him down and make him appreciate his life and everyone around him. Btw, the guy giving Connie the bill was the guy at the airport that showed him the ink stain on his shirt.

3dbadboy1

What a twist of a movie! If you like Michael Douglas, A Perfect Murder, Disclosure, and the OG Wall Street would be perfect to watch! Love you guys!

Anne-Marie Curtis

True. But still doesn’t change the fact you just jumped off a twenty story building! 😂

Robert da Spruce

I loved this reaction. It was almost exactly what I had in mind, except for the last part, where Cassie freaked out more than I expected. I thought they would appreciate the twist and realization that everything was just part of the game and a wake-up call for Nicholas, not real life. But Patrick Flanagan summed it up so eloquently how I see this movie so I'm not going to repeat it. THE GAME is such a brilliant mind bender. It keeps you on the edge of your seat after the slow start, and makes you doubt everything and everyone. And despite that, it can hit you again with the final twist that you never saw coming. I never made the connection with Scrooge, but you're right, it's kind of a dark, real-world version of that story. You can tell how much it messed with Cassie's head when she says no to the signs of a blooming romance and wants Nicholas not to get into the cab. 😀 Now imagine a whole story arc where we see how CRS orchestrated the whole thing, from recruiting the players, researching, planning, setting up the clues, and then pulling off the ultimate heist/con. I would love to see that movie too. 😄

Gábor Árki

Admittedly, it's been many years since I read it, but in the novella -- as I recall it -- this is not ambiguous. It describes events as they occur and everything checks out the day after. Nothing to suggest "it was just a dream".

Grad

LOL

Mark Vaderr

Basic Instinct? Really? No way that Cassie would enjoy that movie.

Mark Vaderr

David Fincher was at his best at this point in time. Se7en, The Game, & Fight Club were all made by him in this consecutive order. I don't think Michael Douglas gets enough credit for his performance in this movie. He's at his best in The Game.

Mark Vaderr

Having Carly watch this with you was a pleasant surprise. This reaction is what we were hoping for. Watching the two of you trying to put everything together was great. As bizarre and absurd as the events in this movie are, the build-up, and suspense is done in such an intense and smart way that you almost don't care. Then of course there is Michael Douglas, who puts together one of his finest performances in this thriller. I'm so glad that Carly was with you, because I think you would have been very frightened watching this by yourself. Thank you for watching this fantastic movie! Also, score another home run of a movie recommendation from your dad.

Mark Vaderr

Fair enough. It’s definitely the weaker of the list, but with that cast, I felt it fit the “should have” description.

Larry Darrell

Besides The Devil's Own, I love the suggestions.

Shawn Kildal

Its bugging me that he happened to jump from the only exact spot where the air bag was located lol

Omar

Or was he? ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

I mean, to be fair, he did break down in sobs first out of relief that his brother was alive, that nothing in his life had really been taken away from him and that he was being given a second chance. It was only later that evening (after a dissolve, a cinematic technique to show the passage of some.time) that he was smiling and hugging his guests/friends (I wouldn't call it "schmoozing" since that sounds insincere and he was genuinely happy/grateful they were there).

Stick Figure Studios

If I tried to commit suicide, and then realized it didn’t work and I was still alive, and the reason that I tried to commit suicide was no more. I think I’d be pretty Doggone Happy. But that’s just me. ;-)

Larry Darrell

It's outlandish but sometimes you accept that in a story.

Patrick Flanagan

...I think ending a nail-biting suspense story right before the climax so everyone can have a group hug is, uh, not a good ending to a thriller.

Patrick Flanagan

That movie was nuts! To mess with someone so bad, they commit suicide is perhaps taking it a bit too far! 😂 And 5 minutes after leaping to his own death. He’s fine and schmoozing with guests. What? The movie does keep you guessing though. Making you suspicious of everything. Nice reaction ladies! That was a fun one!

Robert da Spruce

Jyn Jilly

Shout out to Patrick Flanagan who gave a Terrific assessment of the The Game, a number of Comments up from here. It’s well worth the read, as well as the responses. Damn fine post Patrick. It shouldn’t get buried too deep. The Game, makes me think of another film and that's all I'll say about it... The Parallax View (1974), directed by Alan J. Pakula, a director who's name you SHOULD know, Cassie, but don't yet. A list of some of Alan J. Pakula's films... Klute (1971)... a film recommended to you by Christopher McQuarrie The Parallax View (1974)... my personal recommendation after The Game. All the President's Men (1976)... a film recommended to you by your Aunt & Uncle Sophie's Choice (1982)... A Must See Presumed Innocent (1990)... Harrison Ford Courtroom Thriller The Pelican Brief (1993)... John Grisham Thriller The Devil's Own (1997)... Harrison Ford & Brad Pitt Did anyone recognize the actress, Carroll Baker, who played Ilsa. She was also Eleanor Crisp, the Mother of the Bad Guy, in Kindergarten Cop. She is also a Classic Hollywood Actress going back to the 50s. 4 Carroll Baker films Highly Recommended... Giant (1956), with Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson & James Dean Baby Doll (1956), with Eli Wallach & Karl Malden The Big Country (1958), with Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston & Jean Simmons How the West Was Won (1962), with James Stewart, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda and You Name it. Lastly, We have found a broken strand in Cassie's ever expanding Film History Catalog, that needs to be Mended ASAP. She has watched the sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) and apparently doesn't even know that it IS a sequel. So, a long overdue Recommendation... Wall Street (1987), directed by Platoon's Oliver Stone, starring Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen and Daryl Hannah, among other familiar faces. And just a Reminder for the Wall Street films... The events, characters and firms depicted in these photoplays are fictitious. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or to actual firms, is purely coincidental. ;-)

Larry Darrell

I think it's a very effective movie for like the first 95% of it. But for me the biggest flaw is the ending, specifically how nonchalant the Michael Douglas character is at the end of it. They basically drove him to suicide and his reaction is just to have a good chuckle. "Oh, you wacky scamps, you!"

WastedPo

I remember reading the director of this movie said he wasn't proud of it and wishes he never made the movie. In rewatching it today, I'm thinking that people this rich have a security team.

Shawn Kildal

“He committed suicide into his own birthday party!” Well when you put it like that! Hahaha 🤣

Julian San

I don't think I've ever laughed so much to a reaction ending as this one. Movie was a total mindtrip and your reactions were priceless.\

Yaisu

The ending of this movie is perfect. His entire life has been lived to a script and as a result, he wasn't really living. The last scene, she invites him to go off-script, but then cut to credits leaving his response to the viewers imagination. It's sort of the artistic way of asking the viewer, are you going to just watch your life pass you by, or are you going to really live it?

David Collins

Fatal Attraction is just as intense. And don't forget to do Falling Down while you're on your Michael Douglas experience tour. He does "uptight but still somehow likeable and relatable" better than any actor I've ever seen.

David Collins

The point of the game was for him to start living again.

Ian Burke

It doesn't hold up to scrutiny on repeat viewings BUT if you go along for the ride, it's great fun

Odd Thomas

Michael Douglas is the everyday man people think Tom Hanks is. He just gives off that aura of being a scumbag, which most men really are. Hanks' characters are nowhere near flawed enough to be an everyday man either. David Fincher is also the master of f**ked up films. It's a shame that you've already seen Se7en and Fight Club. Not sure if you've seen Zodiac, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, or, Gone Girl? But they'd be ideal for continuing to step out of that comfort zone. Looking forward to his new film 'The Killer', which could be another one, as it's only out on Netflix. Good reaction in terms of keeping up with the plot, remembering things you might think are minor (the handle), and then the post-credit discussion. One of the best!

Shehab Dawoud

Yes, likewise. Gotta get my Popcorn fix in. 😄 Whereabouts in Canada are you? I'm in Oakville, Ontario.

Zane From Canada

I saw this a year or so after it came out and it left me feeling so frustrated as after he found out it was all fake he just went ok no problem. I’d been so p***ed off and would have had to leave before I punched someone. Fastest forward 20 years or so and I thought I might feel differently about it and nope it still a very frustrating movie with a disappointing end and really one of the worst movies I’ve seen. I get it’s supposed to have a moral and change him from his Scrooge like mentally but seriously it would have the opposite effect on me.

Dean Holt

I only saw this once when it first came out and remember my conclusion was ... no way, no possible way.

Richard Bourne

For a related palette cleanser, I would suggest The Man Who Knew Too Little w/ Bill Murray. His character's brother sends him on a personal live show of The Theatre of Life, sorta like the game / escape roomy but moving around different places in London. Hilarity ensues.

Christopher Smith

I think she needs some hockey films in her life! Movies like Mystery Alaska, Slap Shot, and one of my favorites Goon!

Jacob Colson

I don't remember having watched this before. Great movie full of suspense. Over the top in parts but certainly interesting. At times I had a hard time buying into some of these things as one has to think that there's way too many variables for the game creators to control. You don't have enough control over the environment like in any of the car chase scenes like how could they know know that there couldn't be a random accident or even at the end that in spite of it being a setup that he wouldn't be injured in the fall. Definitely kept me on the edge anyway.

Canadianant

She mentioned Shia LaBeouf in this reaction - and will see him prominently in a movie next week!

Mike LL

"He was in that Wall Street movie with Shia Labouef" ... you've still a way to go Cassie !

John Drake

It wasn't a dream! Scrooge was really visited by three ghosts.

Grad

I saw this in the theater and I was shook. I bought the DVD right when it was available and watched it until I had to put it away and forget about it. Until today. Thinking about it now, the game started when he first stepped up to the desk. All those long tests were to buy them time to start setting up. Just like the first interaction on TV, when he was speaking to Nicholas, they aired that commercial on purpose to lead him to find the actor. When you recognize all of the players in the cafeteria together you think, He's about to bust this open!! Then when Christine doesn't recognize the gun, uh oh!! You have to love the complete elaboration of the whole idea!! I'm very happy you ladies watched this!! Take care of yourselves, Cassie and Carly!!

Billy Dancel

While The Game was one of your Dad's favorites, Fatal Attraction was one of your Mom's favorites btw.

Shawn Kildal

Bendy, twisty, storyline; the ultimate gaslighting thriller movie 🍿 ‘What Lies Beneath’ w/ Harrison Ford and Michele Pheiffer is another top-notch thriller for the Popcorn sisters to watch together.

Anthony Oberhauser

I wanted MORE! You should really keep recording and really dive into what you just watched! Carly always trying to OUTRO the reactions as soon as possible! haha! (don't blame her).

Philip Alan

Yes! This, Se7en & Panic Room (which I just re-watched) are some of my favorites.

Philip Alan

This is maybe the 4th or 5th time I've watched this movie, and only while watching this reaction did I realize that it's basically a weirdly grounded, yet supercharged version of Total Recall.

tiny baby kitty man

If you want another Micheal Douglas movie that will send you REELING, check out Fatal Attraction. I remember TIME magazine put it on their cover with the title "The Thriller is Back!"

Shawn Kildal

I agree with the OP and with your assessment as well Brian. The other thing to remember is that they performed and extremely intense psychological and physiological examination of Nicholas. This would allow them to know how far they could physically push him, but more importantly they would know with a fair certainty how he would react to situations, what paths he would most likely follow; thus allowing them to cover all contingencies and have their people nudge him in the right direction if needed.

Doug Fisher

I’d love to see Cassie react to another David Fincher film, Zodiac. I believe it’s his best film.

Just Plain Bob

This is an early Halloween recommendation. These two excellent films are not scary and are in the ballpark of The Game. Secret Window (2004) The Devil's Advocate (1997)

G

Can I just say that, Cassie, your observation that we, the audience, are basically the mark of this game and that your observation, Carly, that it is essentially a Scrooge story or both very astute? I had a feeling you two would be completely taken in by this movie and your reaction was priceless. I'll never forget seeing this in the theater with my dad. It was such a wild ride, but when it was over we emerged from the theater out into the real world and it messed with our perceptions so much that we didn't know who to trust or if everyone we were passing on the street was in some kind of elaborate charade put on for our benefit. A real mindf**k of a movie (that doesn't exactly hold up to scrutiny if you think about it too much), but a lot of fun and impeccably directed by that expert Craftsman David fincher. A fantastic suspense-thriller that is also simultaneously sort of a satire of the genre. Great reaction, ladies.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes. This is an excellent interpretation, Patrick, and I basically agree with it. Your observation that what Nicholas experienced is not unlike what all audiences experience when they watch a movie is a very astute one. The house that Christine lives in, for example, is essentially constructed like a movie set: it looks good on the surface, but it's not real. It's hollow. All the drawers and cabinets and fridge are empty, the books aren't whole but just spines, the sink doesn't produce water, etc. It has the appearance of being a real home on film, but it's an illusion. In a way, I feel like this movie is David Fincher's own comment on filmmaking as much as anything else.

Stick Figure Studios

Excellent observation about the similarity with NORTH BY NORTHWEST, Mike. I had a similar Revelation myself a few years back.

Stick Figure Studios

REELING is the best description post movie! I love this movie and fantastic reaction!

Philip Alan

Yup, this is what I came here to say. You know, there’s a documentary called The Bridge, where they interview people who survived suicide attempts where they jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. There aren’t many, but there are a few. And every single one of them said that the moment they stepped off the bridge, the split-second they couldn’t take it back, they regretted it. The game was about giving Nicholas the chance to do the one thing he can’t take back … and then take it back. Also, I do get why people say it’s not realistic, but I’m not necessarily totally on board with that. If you’re willing to spend enough money, literally anything is possible. That’s why the bill is so flipping high, probably low eight figures. There’s nothing that happens to Nicholas in the movie, nothing that’s set up for him, that can’t be accomplished if you spend enough money and hire the right people. Even finding the actor at the end … the ex-wife was in on it, she took him to the restaurant, she made sure he sat facing the TV, the restaurant probably was paid to have a tape cued up with the actor’s commercial on it. If that hadn’t worked, they’d have found another way to do it. Like the actor said, if he hadn’t jumped, they’d have pushed him.

Brian Harris

Well, that was definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks ladies. If I have one takeaway from this reaction it's..... Don't mess up Cassie's house.

Bill Hayden

This is the 2nd time I've seen this movie and it was still tense watching it. I saw it back when it originally came out. I think it left me a little strung out the first time like Cassie and Carly were at the end. lol. Lovely reaction as always ladies!!! Thank you!

Andrew Rose

I knew that had a falling out but I didn't know it was over Born On The Fourth Of July. That is a great Cruise performance.

Walter

Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction, or Wallstreet would all be movies you should watch.

Bill Hayden

I really love reaction videos. I haven’t watched this movie in so long; and watching you two react; just brings back how much fun I had watching this movie with my dad all those years ago. Love you guys.

Uncle Phoenix

I support and second this interpretation. I love movies like this that choose to challenge the viewer instead of purely entertain. I don't necessarily believe Nicholas was suicidal but instead never truly engaged with life in the first place. Nicholas experienced a childhood trauma from his Fathers suicide that caused a change inside himself, a 'loss of innocence'. So he lived his life perpetuating the identity of his family estate and his father. Like his father was dead, so was he in living. Like his father was distant, Nicholas is cold, calculating, and void emotionally. In essence the viewer is shown how hollow the main characters life is. Rationalizing life circumstances and not engaging emotionally. The CRS company and the game is not meant to be a realistic representation of anything but rather an extraordinary plot device that is designed to display the systematic destruction of Nicholas's father identity. Note all the Father imagery and comparisons at key plot points whenever we learn more about what Nicholas is thinking and feeling. Ultimately they cannot make Nicholas change, so they force him to complete his father identity with his own suicide. rather that perpetuate it endlessly. In essence the entirety of Nicholas's flawed personal identity is lived out and destroyed and he is reborn no longer bound to his father and his own personal past tragedy. Unchained by emotional pain, he is not instantly a happy person, but perhaps feels free in the end - at the party - to choose to truly live on his own terms. He see's a woman he likes and for no other reason, chases after her to the taxi. In my view, the purpose of this movie is to challenge the viewer to ask questions of their own identity and potential mistakes we may have made in deciding the course of our own lives. In the movie we witness the destruction and rebirth of Nicholas and the design of "The Game" challenging him, and us all, to truly seek a life of meaning and purpose; to stand on our own two feet and decide the course of our lives for ourselves. To stop kidding ourselves and truly live. These are my thoughts, but in the end there is no perfect answer. Movies like these make you think and that alone is a success if the movie can make you do that.

Braden Derksen

It came out around 2010. It features Gekko getting out of prison and then a fictionalized version of the 2008 economic meltdown. Sheen did come back for a cameo (he and Stone had a falling out after Stone cast Tom Cruise for BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY).

Patrick Flanagan

Yep. That movie is trippy. I would not have been happy and smiling at the end of that game. I would have been mad. Way to far. Great reaction ladies. Great surprise with you joining, Carly. You are always a welcome addition.

Rick Williams

So my interpretation of this is that Nicholas' Game was an elaborate intervention. He was suicidal. After his father committed suicide, he basically felt compelled and pressured to become his father, taking over the family business, even living in the family home. But his marriage failed and he was alone, and he felt he couldn't measure up to his father. Maybe without even consciously realizing it, he was on a course to repeat his father's suicide - the only way he could hope to TRULY follow in his footsteps and BE his father. His brother either realized this, or simply was worried about Nick, so he hired CRS and they wrote and staged an elaborate psychodrama and walked Nick through it step by step, with only the illusion of danger. Piece by piece they convinced Nick that the life he had built up for himself - in fact, the recreation of his father's life - was gone, the family house, the family fortune, everyone who knew him, all gone. They "destroyed" him and fired in him the will to live anyway, to convince him that he could be someone else, his own person. In the end Nick came back not to restore his old life but just to get justice against CRS. But they still needed to rid him of his suicidal ideation, so they tricked him into thinking he'd killed his brother and let him experience what he'd needed and obsessed over and feared for so long, his own death urge. Jumping off that roof saved his life, because now he was free of that moment from his childhood which had haunted him his whole life, and now he could live his own life and not simply try and continue his father's life. Is it believable that one group could stage this, brazenly breaking multiple laws with apparently infinite resources? Of course not! But all movies are Games in a way, staged to make us happy or sad or disturbed or profoundly moved. The best movies work on us and make us cry or cheer or scream, because our brains let ourselves "believe" in the Games they stage for two hours, even though we're well aware it's all an illusion. I love, love, love this movie.

Patrick Flanagan

It's like having a horrible nightmare and being really glad for it, because waking up to your normal life is such a relief. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE was the same kind of thing, I think.

Ben Livingstone

What a movie! What a movie!!! the writing is perfect, the directing is perfect, the acting is amazing! i still remember the emotion when i first watched it 😍, I love the reaction!, shocked is the word! 😄😄😄

Grégory Gautier

How about a chick flick before we get scary for Halloween? Muriel's Wedding, First Wives Club, Mermaids, Beaches, Death Becomes Her. All Classics!

Nick Ireland

I loved, loved, loved this reaction, you guys! Cassie was on the "edge of her seat" the whole movie and the disbelief on her face at times was priceless. At about an hour and a half of the movie Carly said she wanted it to be a game, and I think she said that because she really thought it must be a game and that is the only way the movie would make sense to her at that point. I got to give her credit, because when I first saw it, I thought it went well beyond a game at that point, I thought it was real. Brilliant movie. Call me crazy, but having just seen North by Northwest, and I just re-watched the full reaction this week, I think this is just an update of that movie, or a variation of the theme of the "hunted man". Or "wrong man, wrong place, wrong time", as Cassie said in that reaction. There is nothing really new in this movie, just the spin of an elaborate con, and it is done really, really well.

Mike LL

Also Wallstreet is not a true story… and it’s hilarious you brought up THE SEQUEL to the classic with him, Charlie AND Martin Sheen. It’s so good and you should watch that on here if you haven’t yet seen it yet.

djKENTO

My favorite fact about this movie is that the man who plays Michael Douglas’s father is Charles Martinet, the voice of Super Mario for the past like 30 years. He just recently retired and his last Mario game comes out soon.

djKENTO

Well this was a surprising day, I got the both sisters watching one of my top thriller movies The Game. The whole “game” was to take your greatest fear, put it on your face and say ‘There you’re still alive. It’s all right’. Great reactions ladies 👍

FranciscoGios

I guess it must have been bad, because I never even heard about it. Maybe they tried to cover up its existence. I'm usually one of the first of my friends and family to know about new movies. Never got a hint of a sequel for Wall Street.

D. T. Nelson

"He literally paid for that... That stressed me out so much. And I can't believe he's okay with it in the end!" The joy of the movies!

Tyler Foster

Just finished it. I was looking forward to seeing how much this film was going to twist your brain into a knot. You did not disappoint.

Seymor Butz

lmao these post credit remarks. So funny. You two are the best.

KTVindicare

That is strange but I'm so glad to hear it's working now!

kaiielle

They made a Wall Street sequel with MIchael Douglas and Shia LeBouf. It was bad lol

Nick Ireland

I really wanna get that t-shirt at the end.

sarCC

So White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane put the whole movie in perspective didn't it. David Fincher who directed it. He has a ton of great movies. He did Seven, he did Fight Club, Zodiac which was absolutely spectacular. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ( great movie) and Gone Girl, plus he helped direct Mindhunter for Netflix. Which I will reserve judgement on that show.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

I remember watching this movie with my mom. I was so dumbfounded by the end. I felt like I was betrayed by a friend. No movie has ever been able to get me like this one has.

Jaccob Cortes

No worries. It's okay and totally moot now. The link is working. That was very strange. Every other video was working when I clicked the ▶️ button in the bottom left-hand corner, but that one.

Zane From Canada

Cassie, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is not a true story and that one with Shia Labeouf was a sequel to the 1987 original haha

Jyn Jilly

Smh…so sorry but only saw this movie one time and it was more than 10 years ago so I honestly don’t remember the plot and story details very well; can’t really chime in until I have a chance to watch it again

JL_83

Sorry, I'll need you to be even more specific than this as this doesn't help me. What are you clicking on exactly? There's the embedded YouTube video where you can watch it while staying right on Patreon and then there are links in the post itself. One that is the direct YouTube link so you can watch it on YouTube and the other is the Google Drive link.

kaiielle

THE GAME has been weirdly overlooked for a long time and I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because it was overshadowed by two much more well-known David Fincher movies, 1995's SE7EN and 1999's FIGHT CLUB. It's too bad because it's absolutely terrific, beautifully shot, cleverly written and with one of Michael Douglas's best performances.

Patrick Flanagan

I open the video on Patreon, like I always do, and the white ring just keeps on spinning and doesn't play. I tried opening 10 other videos, to see if it's a problem on my end, and each one played instantly. It's just happening with The Game right now and I have no idea why.

Zane From Canada

Hi Zane, can you be more specific about why you can't view this video? Which version are you trying and what is happening when you click on them? The YouTube version and the Google Drive version are both working for me and I'm also in Canada.

kaiielle

I'm unable to view this video. And considering, it's The Game (1997) I'm starting to freak out a little.

Zane From Canada

I told you, PERFECTION! My favorite Fincher movie and one of Douglas’ best.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Far fetched....but so much fun to watch.

nick bell

I remember everyone talking about the movie when it came out. I watched it when it came to DVD and finally understood what everyone was talking about. The creepy vibe throughout, then the big reveal at the end. Upon reflection some of it (the ending) doesn't make sense, but at the time it impactful. You reeled. I was shooketh. It wasn't until Sixth Sense that I got another such big-twist ending. The Wall Street movie (called Wall Street) you were referring to with Michael Douglas didn't have Shia LeBouf in it. It starred Charlie Sheen. I'd suggest a paranoia poll of movies: title it They’re Watching You The Conversation Enemy of the State GATTACA Sneakers The Net V For Vendetta Snowden

So glad Carly made it for this one! I've been meaning to rewatch this film for years. Fincher is one of my favorite filmmakers now but when I watched this as a teenage film student I didn't give this much attention when I saw it. Can't wait to revisit with you

Yes, this movie was MADE for reaction content, years and years before reaction content was even a thing. Can't wait to see yours.

Told ya years ago you’d like it. Definitely some suspension of disbelief required, but such a fun, interesting watch.
