These are all over the place and I kind of like it, a CATastrophe, I have no iDEAR what will win, OWL just have to wait and SEAL!

Don't be a CHEETAH with your votes, it's IllEAGLE!

Comments

The Grey is a good movie

S Elphick

The Horse Whisperer is a two fold love story

Lisa

Secretariat would be AWESOME!! And it’s a TRUE STORY! Yay!

Carol Rocha

The Revenant is the right choice but feel bad for what Cassie is about to go through.

Jeff Chance

Not that I am aware of. I just read articles from science and zoology journals that tell about modern research they have done on the lions. I loved the book though I was on the edge of my seat. The Champawat Tiger was another interesting case.

Zachary K.

I’ve read Man-Eaters of Tsavo which is Patterson’s book. Is there any other books on the events?

John P Tucker

You know the Ghost and The Darkness is based on a true story. Some of the most amazing parts of the movie are true. But I invite you to read the recent studies they have done on the lions. Remember that in Tsavo, Kenya the male lions have no manes. I invite you to read a little bit about them before watching the movie.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Oooooo Ghost And The Darkness is amazing. That's another one that would be a great watch with Carly.

Brian W

@RichardMaurer That was the right thing to do.

Bill W

I hope that you eventually watch The Grey and maybe have your sister join you if she's interested. It's a favorite of mine and one of Liam Neeson's best.

David Forbes

I love the movie. I saw it at the theater; personally, if I had a choice, I would rather see the film "Bear" or "The Edge" with a real bear (Bart), not to say that the CGI wasn't good in Revenant.

Eddie Perkins

She has hinted at already seeing Old Yeller.

Mike Lemon

Cassie has seen Marley and Me. As for Old Yeller, yes I agree, although it's probably a movie that is not on her radar (or Ben's), given the age of the movie.

Aaron Mann

I agree about Revenant. There is an animal in it, and that animal plays a significant role at a key point in the plot, but the movie isn't about the animal. Brilliant film, and absolutely worth a watch (both chilling and riveting), but not an animal movie. Cocaine Bear... Definitely a comedy—even more so than Turner & Hooch (and Anaconda one could argue... that movie is laughable)—and it would certainly fit in a comedy poll. But the bear plays a major role throughout the film, so yes. I'd still call it an animal movie. (Nothing says the animal movie must be a drama). I'd question The Horse Whisperer before Cocaine Bear. The Horse Whisperer is more about the man and his relationship with another character than it is about the horse.

D. T. Nelson

As good as The Revenant is, it doesn't fit this poll. You need to do another animal poll at a later date. And Cocaine Bear should be in a comedy poll.

Eddie Perkins

I'm rather surprised that Marley & Me isn't on this poll. Or, am all time classic, Old Yeller.

Ken Thurman

As usual the the White Knight brigade rushes in to save Cassie from a movie she doesn't need to be saved from. It's no worse than many other movies she's seen, please stop exaggerating. But if she took Turner and Hooch off the poll I'd change my vote. Can't let that movie win.

Richard Maurer

It's the main reason I voted for The Revenant - to help keep TaH from winning.

Richard Maurer

Because it's not Turner and Hooch? If some of the other films on this poll were closer I'd change my vote, but no way am I helping TaH win.

Richard Maurer

Anaconda is very bad in a sub-genre that is itself generally bad, the killer animal genre. The Shallows is almost as unrealistic, but the acting is better. I can't really take any killer animal movies seriously (including Jaws) unless they have some sci-fi element that alters the animals behavior as real animals don't act anything like the ones in these movies, but even with the sci-fi element most of them are pretty cheesy.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, the people voted for The Revenant would love that.

Richard Maurer

She'll be fine. I swear some of you people just want to get Cassie upset about every movie she watches that has some violence it. She's not that 12 yr old who was scared of Fellowship of the Ring anymore, she's grown up now. You can stop babying her.

Richard Maurer

Hidalgo would have been the one to go with. I would have voted for that one.

Richard Maurer

It's no worse than many of the other films she's watched, certainly not worse than Platoon or FMJ. Stop exaggerating everything.

Richard Maurer

I like that you slipped Reign of Fire in there. Bit of a stretch, but why the hell not.

Richard Maurer

That would be slightly less out of place than The Revenant, which I voted for by the way.

Richard Maurer

Well, the seventh seal was a leopard seal. Hard to go wrong with a leopard seal.

Richard Maurer

You know, I made list of horror films for a Classic Horror poll several "Upcoming this week" posts ago. Arsenic and Old Lace was not on that list. For very good reasons - not a horror film, not particularly funny, and Halloween is about as important to the plot as Christmas is to Diehard, that is, not at all.

Richard Maurer

Human Centipede should be on this list 🤣😄😂 kidding!!

Patrick Gibbs

I guess I ought not mess with T&H fans! 😄

Patrick Gibbs

I mentioned Harvey already, but big props to those who recommend Congo - love that movie, it should be on this poll.

2-Can

K-K-K-Ken.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

"A Fish Called Wanda" would have been a good choice.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Better than The Shallows. At least there's a excuse for the bad animal behavior in DBS.

Richard Maurer

Tom Hanks doesn't think the movie is horrible, he said making the movie was one of his worst experiences... exhausting was the word he used. And people vote for it because it is a fun and funny movie. Is it Tom Hanks best movie? Obviously, no. He's clearly made some amazing films and given us far better, award-winning performances. But Turner & Hooch is still one of Hank's most beloved movies and an 80s classic.

D. T. Nelson

How in the world is Turner and Hooch getting this many votes? Lol, even Tom Hanks thinks it was horrible! 🤣

Patrick Gibbs

Black Water is good, and is loosely based on a real event that occurred in Australia. There is also "Rogue" & "Primeval". Primeval is based on a real crocodile in Africa.

John P Tucker

I agree about Cassie enjoying "Fly Away Home," but it would get at leaste ONE vote --- MINE.

Judy M. Goodman

I controversially like it better than the Original

LDC7080

Because it's garbage? Snakes attacking people does not happen - so the whole premise is ridiculous.

Richard Maurer

Ok sorry couldn’t resist but you could have had. Raging Bull, Dog Day Afternoon, Dogs of War, The Mighty Ducks, The Crow, Wild Hogs, Snake Eyes, Navy Seals, The Elephant Man, Reservoir Dogs, Rat Race, Along Came A Spider & Mallrats 😂😂

Dean Holt

🤦🏻🤣😂😂

Dean Holt

Tbh this could be a good one for October

Dean Holt

Oh to hear the voice of Jeremiah Johnson again. Singing voice that is.

Larry Darrell

It was too good to include.

Barry Justice

How did "Snakes on a Plane" not make it on this poll?

DarthChef

The Edge, for real

sean smith

Ha-ha, oh well. There's a movie called The Edge that has a bear in it, which plays a big part. That would've been a good choice. It is, what it is. I know you will get to Bringing Up Baby eventually.

Mark Vaderr

I'm surprised that "Animal House" isn't on the poll. 😁

james flack

Please do a reaction to, “The Edge”. It’s an “animal” movie, I know u will like.

Lazarus Gonzales

One "animal movie" that I really love is "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Both the cinematography and the music by Jerry Goldsmith are gorgeous. This also would've been the perfect poll to get a "Fly Away Home" reaction. (Granted, no one would've voted for it. But I can virtually promise that Cassie would enjoy it.)

WastedPo

Just hot swap The Revenant with White Fang.

Christopher Smith

My Dog Skip and The Black Stallion deserve some love and Disneys original (1964?) The Incredible Journey of a cat and two dogs making it home across the Canadian Rockies. Unbelievable animal actors.

Marc Peterson

Revenant all the way. But Cassie be prepared. Be very prepared

Russell Teo

How bout we watch the winner (of course) and then the Top 2 Comedies. Huh? We can go 2 for 2 this theme week. How bout it? Animal Bad vs Animal Good

Larry Darrell

Seabiscut is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um7nn4SG7Lo

Mike LL

Touche!

Matthew Dunham

Excellent thank you ❤️

Matthew Dunham

She reacted to Seabiscuit previously, check it out! Great film and typically great reaction. (And one reason my vote was for The Horse Whisperer, I think she'd like it.)

Nathan

The Reverant is a very good movie, but it's winning an "animal" movie poll is unBEARable

Shawn Kildal

Very good and based on true story

Gary Michael Bumanglag

Ya need Seabiscut in there!

Matthew Dunham

Megan Leavey is pretty good movie, and it would be a war movie Wednesday.

Brandon

Best movie on the poll but it doesn't look like it's going to win unfortunately. Did you know that Christopher Reeve based his Clark Kent character from Cary Grant's character from this movie?

Shawn Kildal

No Donnie Darko. I saw someone mention Harvey and that makes me think of Donnie Darko. Really doesn't belong here, but it should get on Cassie's radar somehow. Patrick Swayze.

Michael J Paulus

The Reverant is a 2hr 40 minute movie and a bear appears in it for around 20 seconds. It's a really good movie, but it's not an "animal" movie though.

Shawn Kildal

I didn't know she had it in her?!?!

Barry Justice

Just for the record, I LOVE her puns...but it's still a cry for COMIC RELIEF!

Barry Justice

Nice one. I like the combination of personal pick + theme.

Grad

The Edge I will never watch again. Absolutely destroyed me. Looking for alligator movies there is tons but there are two that above the rest the first is Crawl (2019) which Quentin Tarantino loved the second is called Black Water (2007) it didn't get the best reviews but my friends and loved it.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

It beggars belief how the heartwarming A Boy and His Dog (1975) is not only not on the poll, but hasn't even been mentioned!

Happy Hanukkah

After watching Platoon Cassie deserves a break, therefore she should watch Turner and Hootch. Her use of PUNS is a cry for help. She desperately need comic relief!

Barry Justice

I get them confused all the time!

Barry Justice

I hope she reacts to Lake Placid for Halloween!

Barry Justice

🤣🤣🤣 Sorry Cassie, your animal puns made me laugh lol! Hmmm, the only ones that I recommend out of all these is Turner & Hooch and The Horse Whisperer, those movies are good! Turner & Hooch stars Tom Hanks as a cop who inherits a dog named Hooch whose master was murdered and the dog becomes a "material" witness of sorts! The Horse Whisperer stars Robert Redford and a blossoming Scarlet Johanson, Redford plays, well, a horse whisperer, haven't seen it in ages so I can't say much about it lol! I would also say Anaconda, but it's more of a guilty pleasure, kinda cheesy! Stars JLo (meh), and other great actors, who are persued by a man eating anaconda in the Amazon Jungle! The rest of these movies, believe it or not, I've never heard of, except for The Revenant, Leo got his Oscar for that movie! Other movies that I recommend involving animals as key plots are K-9, The Edge, Congo, Deep Blue Sea, Lake Placid, and Old Yeller! Without spoiling anything, here's what these movies are about and who they star: K-9 stars Jim Belushi as a cop who partners up with a German Shepard police dog to track down bad guys, kinda like Turner and Hooch, sort of lol! The Edge stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin who get lost in the Alaskan wilderness who are persued by a man eating bear and becomes a fight for survival! Congo is a somewhat sci-fi/adventure film starring Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry, based on the novel by Michael Crichton (author of Jurassic Park) a team of explorers go into the Congo in Africa to look for a lost expidition while at the same time returning a gorilla back to the wild and when they discover a lost city, they are stalked by a large group of vicious gorilla like creatures, it's a fun cheesy 90's adventure film! Deep Blue Sea involves a science experiment gone wrong using sharks as test subjects, stars Samuel L. Jackson! Lake Placid is about a Crocodile that somehow made it's way to Maine, U.S.A. and has taken residence in a lake, stars Bill Pullman and Bridgette Fonda! Finally, Old Yeller, is a live-action Disney film about a dog who befriends a family on a farm with many heart warming moments! I say live-action because in the 1950's, Walt Disney was pushing boundaries to a whole new frontier of entertainment at the time by taking a stab at making feature films not animated, since that's what his studio was well known for! His first successful attempt was Treasure Island, good movie! Anyway, all these movies I recommend are entertainingly good, popcorn flicks if you will! I ain't LION🤣 sorry had to put in one pun lol! My vote is for Turner and Hooch! Have a great day, love and support, and God bless you and your family🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Wesley White

We had a coonhound when I was very young that was gun shy. He must have been abused before we got him but he was a good dog. Saw the movie first in grade school but then had to read the book when I got a bit older.

James Young

Yes anaconda really shouldn’t be on the list…not a high level movie at all!

Jeffrey Smith

Where The Red Fern Grows is my mom's favorite book, I read it when I was very young and I've seen the movie as well. We had a couple black and tan coonhounds when I was a kid, they are soooo awesome.

David Collins

The Revenant is leading the poll but isn’t an animal movie.

Jeffrey Smith

I doubt nightmares but it will certainly be at the far edge of her comfort zone - but I think she'll appreciate the story and the acting.

David Collins

I just rewatched that.

Jonathan Vickers

I approve!

Jonathan Vickers

Harvey - with James Stewart. It's pretty BUNNY.

2-Can

"Right turn Clyde..."

Richard Rolen

+1 for this great movie. Cassie, be sure to stock up on tissues before you watch it though. Edit: Also, Kevin Costner is doing voice-over in this!

Paweł Kościuszko

Lol, enough PUNishment, Cass... 🤣

MertzRocks

Agreed. And there’s some Romance too.

Larry Darrell

Awesome movie one of my favourite Candy films

Dean Holt

Might be a bit too dark lol.

Dean Holt

Me too 👍

Dean Holt

Doesn’t surprise me that they aren’t on as Cassie probably doesn’t know about them. But the two Clint Eastwood movies with Clyde the Orangutan. Every Which Way But Loose & Any Which Way You Can, they might look a bit dated now but they are still funny movies

Dean Holt

Valid

nick bell

Interesting that revenant and hooch are the two winners it seems, because they are basically the same movie. 😉

JC762

'Black Beauty' Cassie,I sent a copy before the horse poll it's a classic literature story of the plight of service animals in Victorian England..

Celeste McAllister

Hopefully the 68 original Planet is watched first. After that, she could go in any direction.

Mike LL

next week!!!

Cassie

i watched that so much as a kid!!

Cassie

marley and me is one of my very favorites!

Cassie

haha i legit thought it was about a bear

Cassie

i’ve seen that and read it, broke my heart so hard

Cassie

Yay! They're all really good, the Andy Serkis trilogy is fantastic though!

Joe Mallard

already planning on watching those

Cassie

i’m already planning on watching those

Cassie

This list is missing the greatest animal ensembles of all time, any of the Planet of the Apes movies!

Joe Mallard

Love animals, been around them all my life. I don't really like animal films as most them are very inaccurate in the way they portray animals. So I don't really care as long as it's not Anaconda or The Shallows which are both ridiculous to the point where they made me laugh through most of the movie - which was not the reaction the filmmakers were looking for.

Richard Maurer

For a future poll, I'd like to throw 'The Art Of Racing In The Rain' into the mix. It's about a race driver (Jesse from Gilmore Girls 🙂) and his dog, so animals & sports. Can't go wrong!

Neil Bentley

The Revenant - There is a bear in one scene but the rest is Leo - and not pretty Leo - in the snow. Great film, I don't know that I'd describe it as an "Animal Movie". Also, no Planet of the Apes? The original with Charleston Heston, the 90's version with Mark Walberg, or the new series with James Franco?

Javier Hernandez

The Reef is a good one too if you’ve never seen it.

John P Tucker

Bringing Up Baby is one of the funniest movies of all time. Live action looney tunes. It inspired the great Barbra Striesend classic What’s Up Doc? which is also great but doesn’t have a leopard.

Jacob King

The first six were underwhelming, but by golly, old Ingmar sure hit it out of the park with the seventh!

Happy Hanukkah

Looooove the Revenant. Don't know if there's a movie that's better made. The directing, cinematography, acting, production, setting. Perfect. Crossing my fingers it wins.

Al Swearengen

"Disturbing carnage" is an unBEARable exaggeration for such a phenomenal movie.

Al Swearengen

One of my dog's name is Little Ann. Love that movie/book.

Al Swearengen

I think it was one of those they had on VHS they continuously rewatched.

Gábor Árki

The shallows is the best shark movie since jaws. Again I seem to be pulling for the underDOG

LDC7080

Bummer you left out The Edge with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.

Brian Lowery

Please God also watch secretariat

Michael Lynch

I'd add The Plague Dogs and Secret of Nimh to the list, though I'd probably vote for The Last Unicorn of the bunch.

My_Cousin_Mose

I’ve always preferred Man in the Wilderness (1971) more.

Larry Darrell

Leo is Great… but I’ve always preferred Man in the Wilderness (1971).

Larry Darrell

Hair?

Larry Darrell

Ditto.

Larry Darrell

I always liked The Cat From Outer Space (1978) too.

Larry Darrell

I always feel like the Grey always gets overlooked but it's a good one

Jor Dooger

66 times The Great Outdoors (1988)

Larry Darrell

She learned them from Ellie.

Robert Walker

This Channel has been short on Comedies for a while now. Bringing Up Baby (1938) is one of the greatest comedies ever. Nuff Said.

Larry Darrell

yep, and little else

zynjams

the Heart of the Sea. about 1800 whaling ships and a pissed off whale.

zynjams

people are mean and to see Cassie hide under her blanket

zynjams

great movie

zynjams

I can't watch Turner and Hooch. K-9 was more my style. .

David Patterson

Upon reflection, I have decided it would only be fair to also cancel The Ghost and the Darkness and replace it with another classic animal movie: The Seventh Seal. (And if you insist on having an animal movie featuring Val Kilmer, it doesn't get much better than The Island of Dr. Moreau.)

Happy Hanukkah

So, Cassie has HERD of puns.

2-Can

Also the "Homeward Bound" movies are good.

Joshua s. Jackson

In an alternate timeline, Jacques de Gatineau did make it to Canada's nation's capital of Ottawa, and saved Canada from becoming the desolate, barren wasteland that drove Cassie into Provo's welcoming arms. As to the movies, I thank you all for your efforts, but the poll is being cancelled; I am unilaterally picking *the* classic animal movie, Animal House, and a feel-good movie just for Cassie: Cujo.

Happy Hanukkah

Turner and Hooch is a great little flick but knowing how Cassie reacts to things she will need a carton of tissues.

sharkey197

Turner & Hooch 🤦‍♀️

John Cranberry

That Darn Cat super fun crime comedy with a fabulous Siamese cat, a daffy teen and an allergic FBI agent. Hilarity ensues. Stars a young Hayley Mills, Dean Jones, Frank Gorshin, Roddy McDowall…highly recommend.

Marc Peterson

No Watership Down?

mikethemotormouth

Secretariat is a great family movie about one of the greatest sports moment of the 20th century. I don't think it will win, but I hope you'll find time to work it into your schedule.

T J

Could have had Hidalgo on that list

Dioskur

The Bear is one of a kind, should be watched

Dioskur

I voted “The Shallows”, but my write in would be “The Great Outdoors” with John Candy and Dan Akrody. It has Bears, Racoons, a bat!

John P Tucker

“The Grey” won’t win this poll but I hope it comes around again. I’ve always felt is was much more underrated than it deserved to be.

Jeff B.

For all fans of The Ghost and The Darkness, I recommend reading “The Man-Eaters of Tsavo” it is Colonel Pattersons Account of the events and other hunts he went on in Africa.

John P Tucker

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but I also like "The Edge" with Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Evan

1974 Where the red fern grows. add that to your future list

James Young

Mark 👍👍👍

Mike LL

The Revenant will give Cassie nightmares, but it's just such a good movie that she really should see it.

Tal Moore

I also voted Turner and Hooch and Bringing Up Baby which I don't think I've seen. (Edit for a few minutes Hooch was beating out The Revenant)

Mannygogou

You know I am with you on this.

Mark Vaderr

All the Planet of the Apes movies, except for Tim Burton's, would be great!

Mark Vaderr

No Homeward Bound? That is an animal movie!

Jacob Colson

Rogue is better than Lake Placid.

Mark Vaderr

Absolutely!

Mark Vaderr

Bringing Up Baby, all the way!

Mark Vaderr

The Revenant is an animal movie? That is a big stretch. Eight Below, Iron Will & The Black Stallion would have made more sense. For a thriller, how about Cujo? Go, Bringing Up Baby! Please give more votes to this classic comedy!

Mark Vaderr

The Man from Snowy River Marley and me

James Rex

I voted Cocaine Bear... a lovely story about the outdoors and hiking!

Mannygogou

Another vote for Arsenic and Old Lace !!!! Someday "The Searchers" will be on the list .... someday

Bill Maurer

I hope she adds that to the October "scary but no too scary" list

Bill Maurer

TURNER & HOOCH, eh…?

Jason Chirevas

Agreed. Come on you guys. It shouldn’t even be on this list and all you sadists are taking advantage of the fact that she doesn’t know that to make her watch more disturbing carnage.

jdj830

We missed out on 'Moby Dick' 1957..there's a big critter!

Celeste McAllister

She has done it, but I admit that I was momentarily confused between the two multisyllabic horse racing movies beginning with s.

jdj830

Ghost and the Darkness was great

Eddie Perkins

Agreed. There’s a sadistic element here that I find very disturbing and I get some very bullying pushback whenever I bring it up. The internet can be an ugly place.

jdj830

Seabiscuit is a great movie, but I think you have done it; I would go with Secretariat.

Eddie Perkins

I’m not going to vote because I haven’t seen any of these movies (I am a man of some integrity!) but I do want to suggest some other possibilities: if you’ve never seen Babe, the greatest of all pig movies, you must do so immediately (and its sequel is good too); the Planet of the Apes movies, both the originals and the reboot trilogy, are well worth your time; 2001: A Space Odyssey, a necessary cultural artifact which also has major scenes of apes as well as tapirs; and a beautiful movie from 1983 called Never Cry Wolf, which I think you would love.

jdj830

The Ghost and the Darkness is a great movie. While Horse Whisper won't win, it's a must watch. It's Robert Redford at his best and a young Scarlett Johanson.

Jacob Antony

When the next poll for ACTION / SPY MOVIES come up, I sure hope that 'The Long Kiss Goodnight', with Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson, gets onto the list....👍🏻🙂

'Pappy' Johnston

Well, I can remember one animal that was in it.

Eddie Perkins

I also liked Marley and Me, a true story.

Eddie Perkins

Bringing up Baby is a classic zany RomCom, Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, and a leopard, who could ask for more.

hfwilliams

And of course the one movie that shouldn't be included on the poll has the most votes.

Shawn Kildal

Ouch! Your puns are OTTER this world!

Alan Kobb

Ghost and the Darkness is one of my all time favorites. It kind of reminds me of the Clint Eastwood movie White Hunter Black Heart

Roger Freeman

If you ever want to do animation with animals- The Last Unicorn and Balto (based on a true story and have a tissue ready) should be on the list.

Mike Lemon

Agreed! 👍🏻

'Pappy' Johnston

Sharknado? Classics all. JK. Haven’t seen them but did recently buy the whole 6 or 7 movie set in iTunes for fun. They were like $1.70 a piece for the bundle. Probably wasted money.

JC762

Turner & Hooch is a great movie!

Allen W. McDonnell

I think she's seen it, but it's not on the "already seen" list.

Mike Lemon

Ghost and the Darkness. I like movies based on actual events. Revenant is also.

Rick Williams

I adore Secretariat!! One if my faves!!

Orcagirl78

I dont know why people are voting for the Revenant, its not an animal movie

zynjams

Maybe an unpopular option but I really thought The Revenant was dull and really overrated.

Dean Holt

It warms my heart to see all the wonderful positive comments about Bringing Up Baby! All those who did so have such good taste in movies!

Mike LL

I waited 20 months or so for Vertigo, so I believe Cassie will watch Bringing Up Baby one day.

Mike LL

Yeah always thought K-9 was a funnier movie

Dean Holt

My Dog Skip (2000), Lost & Found (1999), A Dog's Purpose (2017), Free Willy (1993), See Spot Run (2001), K-9 (1989), Marley & Me (2008), Eight Below (2006), Iron Will (1994), Togo (2019), Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993), Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend (1985), The Edge (1997), Backcountry (2014), Brotherhood of the Wolf (2002), Reign of Fire (2002)

Santos Carrillo

Falling Down is another great film!

nick bell

Turner and hooch, I would liked to have seen the film 'k9' on this poll

Dylan Harris

Don't start with "The Ghost and the Darkness." It's so wretched it may poison you for other animal movies.

Dave Sees Movies

Arsenic and old lace is absolutely fantastic

Ben92

I swear to whatever diety is on call that a lot of dudes here like to see you cring while watching a movie. Your reaction to Platoon was pretty rough for you. Felt sorry you had to watch it

Matt Mabry

Secretariat is a beautiful movie. Based on a true story of a woman owner in the men only world of thoroughbred racing.

Michael and Phyllis Selby

Y’all are mean for picking the revenant

Neil Varma

Bringing up Baby is a great film, but so few have seen it.

David

I think The Edge should be on this poll. That's a really good movie IMO

Johnny

Horse Whisper is peak Robert Redford.

Roger Banks

I'll vote Shallows since there is no monkey trouble on the poll.

Christopher Campbell

Say ahh! 😄

Zane From Canada

Have to vote for BRINGING UP BABY because you know she (and Carly) would love Cary Grant. This reminds me that THE BISHOP'S WIFE needs to be on the Christmas movie poll.

Paul Stelter

Why isn't Lake Placid on this list? It's a horror comedy featuring Betty's White.

Ryan Gondek

I love the internet. They complain she likes everything but they only ever push good movies. If you want her to not like something vote for the crap ones.

Ryan Gondek

You should check out homeward bound if you haven't already. A family fun animal movie with some great voice actors

Adam D

I do feel a little bit of what you're saying, but at the same time, I think it's a little more than 15 seconds. Plus I think it's importance to the movie exceeds its screen time, although I don't remember for sure. I just know it's an awesome movie so I'm there for it.

David Collins

Do we all remember how much Cassie liked Seabiscuit, along with a little romance as well? The Horse Whisperer (with Carly along) for the win!

Nathan

Bringing up Baby - Cary Grant, Kathrine Hepburn. all tijme great "screwball comedy" Rom Com, exactly the type of movie that is made for you. Cary Grant at his best

Francis Chery

I would also suggest Falling Down with Michael Douglas. Even though it's 30 years old it's still very relatable.

Oisin Clissmann

Curious, how does The Revenant qualify for an Animal movie poll? It's been a while since I've seen it. I remember a bear appears for 15 seconds or so. Plus some horseback riding. I must be missing something.

Shawn Kildal

Damn, I thought this was the 4's week haha I was still hoping for Indy 4

Jyn Jilly

BRINGING UP BABY. Cassie, you'd love this one.

Matt Rose

TOGO, though it's only a Disney+ release.

Steve Colletti

If EWE do not vote for Turner and Hooch, go clear out your kitty litter box... jk.

Christopher Smith

The Edge (1997). Excellent film you NEED to watch!

Heaby

Yeah, Anaconda falls into that "so bad it's good" category if you're being charitable, otherwise it's just ludicrous and bad.

Stranger2Reality

Bringing Up Baby is the best film here so naturally it won’t win.

Tim Raths

Agreed. It's a flat out bad movie, as it's just people in a house with about 50+ big cats simply trying to move from one room to the next without getting mauled to death. It's wild to see that, and the behind the scenes stuff in getting that movie made is interesting, but there's no real story there.

Stranger2Reality

I don't recall... Did you ever watch the original Jumanji, Cassie? Would be great for an animal themed film.

l.h. riley

Turner and Hooch is sooo good. Too bad it's older, so the "younger" ones don't know it :-)

Kim Brink

It’s maintaining 3rd place (which does it no good I realize) but there aren’t many comments about it. You will love Secretariat, prom prom!

Cole Jennett

I don't think she'll like The Revenant at all. I think she'll alternate between being upset and bored by it, but it looks like it's going to win.

Stranger2Reality

The Revenant is clearly the best film (imo) on the list. But I'm not sure it'll get a great reaction. Looking forward to GHOST and THE DARKNESS. Uneven but entertaining film. Kilmer does a good job with what he has. I didn't love Micheal Douglas in this role. But it wasn't bad. Speaking of Micheal Douglas, i think WALL STREET, FATAL ATTRACTION and TRAFFIC should all be required viewing when we have Micheal Douglas week. I understand THE GAME is coming soon.

nick bell

Both are solid, Turner and Hooch is more family friendly, but K-9 was always one of my favorites as a kid

Andrew Hogan

What about Jaws 2?

ROBERT CLARK

I don't even like it that much, but Bringing Up Baby is far and away the best movie on this list. Turner & Hooch is pretty fun, though(plus, comedic Tom Hanks is the best Tom Hanks).

sarCC

The Edge for the animal movie and survival movie crossover that Cassie has been looking for!

Stranger2Reality

Defo turner and hooch from me, loved that movie for many years

ElmSt Reactions

As of now "The Grey" looks like a longshot to win but if people are interested in seeing this movie, the final scene comes AFTER the ending credits. "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin would have been a good candidate in this poll.

Robin Craft

I'll say. The D.O.P. almost had his head bitten off. 😳 Just one of the many pleasantries that happened.

Zane From Canada

Without nostalgia goggles, Anaconda is just an objectively terrible movie. The Shallows is an absolute banger of a shark attack movie, but it'll never win cuz not enough people have seen it. It's one of my wife's favorites because she likes monster/killer animal movies. She also hates Anaconda, btw. That being said, I support any excuse to watch Turner and Hooch.

Godzilla Jones

Attempting to read the description of this poll while stoned is quite something…☺️

shaneth138

Same here! I’m stoked.

Jerrod Acree

Spoilers guys!

Robin Craft

Oh good lord!!! The puns! The puns are coming!!

Jerrod Acree

Let's see two winners here so it will probably be The Revenant and Turner and Hooch or Secretariat. Out of the winners circle again will be Bringing Up Baby, losing yet again in a poll. Bringing Up Baby has lost so many polls now that it is about to set a record! And it is a classic screwball comedy that I so much want Cassie to see, she would love it and Carly too!

Mike LL

I like Roar but the story of the movie is more interesting than the actual movie.

djKENTO

If Tuner & Hooch is on the list then I feel K-9 (1989) starring Jim Belushi should be on the list too. No offence to Tom Hanks but it’s a way better cop and dog move in my opinion.

Luke Godfrey

There are a lot of horses in The Searchers, it's true! You are of course correct on Bringing Up Baby. She does need more Cary Grant so should watch BUB and To Catch A Thief right away! (Hoping we get Arsenic and Old Lace next month because it takes place on Halloween.)

Mike LL

Oh Cassie this has to be the hardest poll yet! So many good options, shame I can only pick one. I'm going for The Shallows as I've personally requested it in the past. I do hope you get round to watching some of the others in this list.

ROBERT CLARK

See Cassie?!? Carly would love it too!!!

Randolph Tirazona

I was really hoping to see "Roar" starring Tippi Hedren from The Birds. An infamous disaster of a production where the animal talent, which consisted of over a dozen lions, attacked the cast and crew severely injuring some of them. It has been called one of the most dangerous movies ever made. I ended up voting for Bringing up Baby.

Johnny Liu

I'm on Team #BringingUpBaby myself. Always Team #CaryGrant!

Mike LL

Yes. You have good taste in movies.

Mike LL

Tonka should be on the poll. And I hope she already plans on watching the newer Planet of The Apes movie

Andrew Ramos

I cry everytime I watch that movie now. 🥲

Zane From Canada

I'd vote for that. It was a lot funnier than I was expecting it to be. Mainly, because of Betty White. 😁

Zane From Canada

YES DEFINITELY THE EDGE!!!

ROBERT CLARK

So damn many good movies here

Max Well

LOL!!!

ROBERT CLARK

THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS (1996). What an unexpected surprise. It’s one of my all time favorites. An old fashioned period adventure starring two of my favorite actors. Watched it in the theaters when it came out back in the day. It will be fun. Cheers!

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Well aside from the bear scene, there's scenes with buffalo, wolves, and horses. Plus, you see Leo himself slowly embody the qualities of an animal as the film progresses.

Zane From Canada

You are right. No other animals in this movie.

Alina Jones

Bringing up Baby because we all need more Cary Grant and Kate Hepburn in our lives. Plus "The Searchers" was not in the poll.

Bill Maurer

I think the best movie on here is either THE GREY or BRINGING UP BABY, but neither really has a chance. It's gonna be THE REVENANT.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes, it’s a crazy, very large bear! The movie does have a decent plot.

Alina Jones

Shame Gorillas In The Mist didn't make it on here.

PapaXan

Didn't really think of The Revenant as an animal movie. It does have an animal that plays an important role, but it isn't in the movie very long. There are a couple of other Horse movies that should have been on there. Dreamer and Hidalgo.

D. T. Nelson

Wow! Homeward bound! Now that’s a great movie!

Alina Jones

They'd really love The Horse Whisperer most out of all these movies.

Jesus F Christ

Yeah, Revenant is certainly not an "animal movie". It has a cool bear scene though, but it has no business winning an animal movie poll..

Johnny

I went full classic with Bringing Up Baby. I'll be curious to see the reaction to Ghost and the Darkness. When I was younger, I loved that movie, loved the sound track. As I've gotten older, crotchetier, and more pro animals, humans suck, I am unfortunately now team lions.

Jennifer Medicus

Don't forget Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey!!!

Randolph Tirazona

Homeward Bound:The incredible Journey!!! MJ Fox, Sally Field!!!

Randolph Tirazona

... and her birthday is coming up in October 👍

carbsix

I heard the revenant is a great movie. I have not seen it except I read the sumopsis. I am curious how it is an animal movie except for the bear attack.Could someone explain? Of course I will watch it if anyway I am just curious. If you have to give spoilers, I can wait until I watch it myself.

Mary Alice

Yeah I think they'd enjoy that one. A nice wholesome story.

Faraday

Fine I won't. I didn't cheating was illEAGLE

Sahitya

I’ve only seen about half of these but Turner and Hooch, Secretariat and Meagan Leavy are all good.

Andrew Hogan

Write in for Deep Blue Sea and The Edge.

Zane From Canada

Write in for Silver Bullet as well. Technically it's an animal

William Bryan

Brilliant film- loved it growing up!

Matthew

Kes should be on the list - probably not that well known in America

John Drake

Ghost and the Darkness was playing at the drive-in theater I was working at as a teenager. I didn't get to see the whole movie despite seeing parts of it like 20 times. Too much dishing out popcorn to people to see the whole thing back then. So I look forward to watching it with you.

Brian's Dog

I am looking very much forward to the ghost and the darkness!

David Bennett

What about Lake Placid! It has Betty White in it

Katie Jackson

You and Carly would love Megan Leavy... way underrated 💯

carbsix

If Megan Leavey doesn't win, it'd be great for WMW

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Old Yeller should be on this list.

Brent Petty

Late possible additions K-9 White Fang Free Willy

Andrew Hogan

Write in for Deep Blue Sea

William Bryan

I love PUPcorn in Bed

John Drake

Is there such a thing as mom jokes? 😂

Mikey Mike

Oh my goodness! The puns are flying fast and FURRYous today! 😊

Robert da Spruce

You know a great animal film not on this list is "The Bear" (1988). An underrated gem that shouldn't be overlooked.

Jake McNulty

The best movie here is Bringing Up Baby. A pinnacle of American screen comedy.

Henry Graham

I'm voting for Turner and hooch because I've been recommending it to Cassie on Facebook, I hope cocaine bear does not win because even though I like the movie I wouldn't agree that it is appropriate for popcorn in bed I cannot imagine Cassie liking it at all and I hope she watches The horse whisperer anyways,, it's sad that it's in the last place right now but I think she will like that movie!

Manuel Villacana

'The Revenant' is a re-make of a 1970 film 'Man in the Wilderness' starring Richard Harris.💜I'm pulling for 'Bringing up Baby'..

Celeste McAllister

2011 RED DOG the based on a True Story film

James Loveless

The Ghost and The Darkness is one of those ‘90-era movies that hits a sweet spot. Plus two handsome actors in their prime.

Alex Villarreal

haha. Such a manic movie. It would be fun though.

Philip Alan

OMG, BEAR with me. But the Revenant is awesome! Yes! I'm not LION when I tell you it is a fantastic movie! (I hope it wins)

Philip Alan

Omg ghost and the darkness that's my childhood and its base on a true story well loosely that is

MatthewBrown74m

gotta be Turner & Hooch. i myself could use a good cry.

Mike Stevenson

The Grey is the best movie here.

Chris H

The Grey is sooooo GOOD!

FOOLPROOF

Oof, did Coleton write that for you??😂

Cole Jennett

Voting Cocaine Bear on principle!

Matthew Jaszyn
