You should check out "Dark Waters" (2019) with Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway. Also based on a true story and it will leave you rethinking your use of nonstick cookware.

In Canada too!

Well, they’ve shifted from cocky to smug. They know they’re hated and they’re really sorry they killed people, but they’re victims too, you know? They keep raising rates and are now actually penalizing people for using solar panels while making sure their shareholders never miss a dividend and paying their CEO over 50 million a year (not a typo) - but they have no choice because capitalism. Meanwhile the infrastructure that caused the fatal wildfires and explosion hadn’t been properly inspected in decades. They know they should have buried those power lines and replaced those leaky pipes, but they didn’t, because they’re PG&E and we’re not. They don’t care because they don’t have to. It’s insane that the same region that gave us Silicon Valley and invented the smartphone etc has the most backwards utility company in the world. (Sorry for the rant - I spent half my life in Northern California and still have family and close friends there. The fire that PG&E started destroyed a camp that I went to as a kid and later worked for.)

There is another "courtroom movie" very similar to this: "A Civil Action". It is also based on a real lawsuit about pollution and health impacts. And the cast is packed: Robert Duvall, John Travolta, William H. Macy, Tony Shalhoub, James Gandolfini to name a few.

BlueChip300

Call me dumb, I finally catch the reference to her name tag.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Every ticket to every movie is $4.

BTW, Sunday is National Cinema Day. There are probably specials at some movie houses.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Mystic Pizza is a nice little movie with a very very young Julia Roberts.

Javier Hernandez

no way. how are they not learning or how have they not den shut down?

Cassie

A great watch as always. If you want another Julia Roberts gem. “Sleeping with the enemy “ is highly recommended. A decent thriller

The Insider is a fantastic movie. And if they like that, perhaps they can move on to my favorite legal thriller, Michael Clayton.

I have to admit, this was fun to watch, at least as much as I could while I was at work lol! I haven't seen this movie since High School, I forget what class I watched it in though lol! Still, it was a good movie, though I'm not the biggest Julia Roberts fan, the only movie(s) that I like her in, including this one, and Hook! Yup, this movie is based on a true story! HAHA, I like how you reacted to my superchat when I told you about how A Walk To Remember, since you brought it up in the reaction, is the only romance/chick flick that I enjoy watching and you said "the ONLY one, say it isn’t so!! about time? notting hill? pretty woman?" LOL🤣 That was a laugh I needed! Like I said, A Walk To Remember reminds of the very first girl I ever loved back in 8th grade, and that was her favorite movie, she loved Mandy Moore and in some ways she bared a resemblance to her, she was the sweetest gal I ever knew! So sweet in fact that, we went on a movie date back in 2003 during Valentine's Day and we went to see The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King in theaters, she baked me a heart shaped brownie with the candy hearts on the edges, what a sweetheart lol! Anyway, I'm glad I was able to hang out while I could though I was at work! Great reaction as always, can't wait for more! Have a great rest of your week, love and support always and God bless you and your family🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

18:20-18:34 I'm reminded of this entertaining scene in Boston Public (with the only actor who could rival Albert Finney): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaSxTMrXbt4

I had almost forgotten how good this movie is, and watching your reaction reminded me so much of seeing it the first time myself in the theater. Since you and Carly liked this one so much, you could take on another "based on a true scandal" movie, "The Insider," with Russell Crowe and Al Pacino.

Rick Moreno

Do you mean, Ed the lawyer?

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

The real lawyer is in the diner scene, too.

David Conroy

I hope this inspires you to look up the real Erin Brockovich. She’s still doing her work and recently made several appearances on the news talking about the train derailment in Ohio. There’s a bunch of videos of her on YouTube. The real version of her is even more inspiring (and funny) than the Julia Roberts version.

jdj830

You beat me to it. PG&E is still an evil company and every time they do something evil (and don’t forget there was also that San Bruno gas explosion) they raise utility rates to cover the cost of cleaning up the messes they make. It’s insane. Though at this point I would say the real culprits are the politicians who allow this obviously dysfunctional company to keep operating in essentially the same way.

jdj830

Erin Brockovich! I watch this movie almost weekly, just for that glorious bosom! ... ... ... They don't make 'em like Albert Finney anymore.

Happy Hanukkah

PG&E has paid more than $5 Billion due to the forest fires in California in recent years. They’re still at it.

Charlie Burton

AND the nametag she's wearing is "Julia"

Rich H

Ah, I remember that. I had forgotten some parts of this movie, maybe not as bad as Carly, but I did remember that. So unfair for young women to use against young straight men as we are helpless to some extent. I've thought about this, and one thing guys can do to overcome this is to understand the biology and lactation of the Duck-billed platypuses (an animal which should not exist, like a beaver screwed a duck).... it will gross you out... N'ff Said I think.

Richard Bourne

The real Erin Brockovich has a cameo appearance in this movie. She plays a blonde waitress in a restaurant scene.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

"They're called 'boobs', Ed."

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

We are witnei.

Richard Bourne
