Ok ok ok! Hope you are all doing well this week so far! We are still finding our back to school groove over here, hasn't been a day yet where there hasn't been at least one child crying before school but we can only go up from here! Lows:My hydrangeas are very dull and sad, everyone is telling me to change my soil ph like I know what that means. Also lost my KEYS. They vanished! Had to tow the car to the dealership. Highs: Watching 3 year olds play soccer. Buying a mom's cart full of school supplies at the store and her gratitude.
Thank you all so so much for those who stopped by the LIVE on Saturday, I know I need to do those more often because 5 hours is so long, sorry if you were there the whole time! A big thank you to the mods who are always so helpful in those!

This week we have one more courtroom drama, loved them all, Kindergarten Cop for funsies and back to school and Red Dawn which won a LIVE poll of DVD's of all time. Patrick Swayze again, you don't have to tell me twice! ***Other Polls during the LIVE winners were-Dog Day Afternoon and The ABYSS all coming up!
We have a WMW Poll that went up today-it's pretty close between the top 2-go have a vote!
There's going to be a Trivia Night in September, start your studying ;)
Ok love all of you!
Ps-there is still $86 left on that Starbucks card from last week-so make sure to go treat yourself!
Cassie

2023-08-27 02:09:16 +0000 UTCA tragedy yes, but a funny tragedy.
Richard Maurer
2023-08-24 17:42:48 +0000 UTCI was there for the entire duration of the LIVE package opening, and I loved every minute of it. I'm so happy that you liked my gift. Loved joking around with you about the chicken wings, but I'm also serious about it too. :) WooHooo, an upcoming Trivia Night! I will be at hard work studying! You're the best Cassie. Yes, more live streams would be fun! See ya! P.S. I wish a lot of blessings on your hydrangeas.

2023-08-23 14:59:28 +0000 UTCVery curious what you'll think of RED DAWN.
Patrick Flanagan
2023-08-23 10:35:46 +0000 UTC@Larry, you are correct, the widescreen DVD version available is sadly a non-anamorphic release, meaning the widescreen image has been encoded into a 4:3 frame instead of 16:9.

2023-08-23 06:35:24 +0000 UTCGosh, sounds like you've got it a little rough, hope you get back in the groove soon lol! Sorry, you lost your keys, that must really suck lol! You're very welcome Cassie, it was so much fun hanging out and chatting with you live, I always have so much fun getting to know you! No need to apologize for us being there from the beginning to the end, it was the best 5 hours of my life lol! Though I didn't know you ended up doing a part 2 because you forgot a couple of other packages lol, I had to step away and go get groceries, but part 1 was so much fun, and I left you a nice comment on the finished video, hope you like it when you see it whenever lol! No need to worry, when you find yourself still in the mood for a certain genre of movies, you just gotta keep going lol! Hope Runaway Jury will be entertaining for you, never seen it before! Kindergarten Cop, haven't seen that movie in ages! I voted for Red Dawn, that too is one of the few movies I watch around 4th of July because of its somewhat Patriotism, I also voted for The Abyss, can't wait to see your reaction to both movies! Really enjoyed what I could watch of your Erin Brockovich reaction, that was fun! Looking forward to your reactions to Philadelphia and Primal Fear! I voted on the two polls you posted earlier today! Another Trivia Night eh? Nice, and in my birthday month, would be funny if you ended up doing the Trivia Night on my birthday lol! Let me know when it will be and I'll see if I can join in! Oh and my apologies earlier today when I told you during your reaction for my lack of liking romance/chick flicks, when I told you that A Walk To Remember is the only chick flick/romance movie that I enjoy! The reason is because it reminds me of my first love in 8th grade, when I say that, I mean that it was the favorite movie of the first girl I ever loved back then, she loved that movie and she bared a resemblence to Mandy Moore at the time lol! So if I ever find myself watching it, I think of her lol! Anyway, hope you and the family are doing well, love and support always, you (and Carly) are the absolute best, [virutal hug] God bless you and your family, have a great rest of your week, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

2023-08-23 06:21:17 +0000 UTCI'm gonna have to second the extended cut of The Abyss. It is a significantly different and better film than the theatrical.

2023-08-23 05:47:58 +0000 UTCi'm so happy you're doing runaway jury! it wasn't winning any polls, but it's my favorite grisham by far

2023-08-23 05:08:24 +0000 UTCYes, came to say this re The Abyss. It's basically impossible to find a good version for whatever reason, and my Sp Ed DVD is the same as you describe.
AdrianF
2023-08-23 05:06:20 +0000 UTCFYI: You may need to zoom in the picture on a 16:9 TV. I believe the old DVDs are formatted in Letterbox, but for a 4:3 TV. Meaning unzoomed, you will have black bars all the way around the picture.
Larry Darrell
2023-08-23 02:20:53 +0000 UTCFYI To All: Just got my copy of The Abyss Special Edition on Amazon for $0.99 (Apparently there are 20 copies left at that price.) Sure the shipping was an extra $13, but I might keep that part a secret.
Uncle Phoenix
2023-08-23 02:06:51 +0000 UTCBy my calculation, that will leave you with 5 Grisham movies left. The Pelican Brief (Julia Roberts/Denzel Washington) The Client (Susan Sarandon/Tommy Lee Jones) The Rainmaker (Matt Damon) The Chamber (Gene Hackman) Christmas With The Kranks (Tim Allen/Jami Lee Curtis/Dan Aykroyd) You might as well bite the bullet and watch them all!!
David Collins
2023-08-23 01:53:27 +0000 UTCYou know it was actually THE PELICAN BRIEF that came in fourth place in the Final Courtroom poll. I guess Cassie just called an audible for RUNAWAY JURY.

2023-08-23 01:39:35 +0000 UTCThe 1984 version was on the YT live poll.
Gábor Árki
2023-08-23 01:27:35 +0000 UTCI am pleasantly surprised to see RUNAWAY JURY, especially after losing the preliminary poll. Great cast, interesting story, and raising some important questions about both the US court system and its subject matter. But I think KINDERGARTEN COP is the one I'm the most excited about. For THE ABYSS, I'm also recommending the longer Special Edition version. I think this is one of those cases where the non-theatrical cut is much superior. Important character moments and an entire subplot has been readded. Also, I can highly recommend watching the hour-long documentary UNDER PRESSURE: MAKING THE ABYSS after watching the movie. It should be among the DVD extras, but here is a YT link: https://youtu.be/YctOKgWVn9E Any chance for the next trivia night to become a trivia afternoon, to be more Europe friendly? For example, a 2pm start would be 9/10pm for Western/Central Europe.

John Liebling
2023-08-23 00:56:11 +0000 UTCI'm also on the longer Special Edition side for this one. @Brian neither version is streaming or available for renting. The only official option available is a DVD and AFAIK those tend to contain both cuts.
Gábor Árki
2023-08-23 00:53:20 +0000 UTCChoof could have a great coaching career or become a color commentator. Or maybe there's a scenario where he's forced to reclaim the title because of a Russian adversary, childhood friend who went to prison for him, Adrian wants him to be able to live with himself, etc. 😊
Steve Holton
2023-08-23 00:47:25 +0000 UTCThank you Jesus that you led my beautiful Cassie to the Original Red Dawn. I would have been furious if she had chosen the remake. Love you Cassie 😘
John Cranberry
2023-08-23 00:43:51 +0000 UTCI basically consider the first six the most likely to make a poll, although not necessarily the best on the list. As for Stephan Chow films, I almost included Shaolin Soccer too, but I thought that one might be a little too out there for most people. Cassie would probably enjoy the love story in that one also.
Richard Maurer
2023-08-23 00:42:55 +0000 UTCHmm, so your keys "vanished." Just like that, poof! Tell me, and I'm completely changing the subject here, has Ben been expressing increasing concern about your driving? :-) "everyone is telling me to change my soil ph like I know what that means." Well, if you're not driving anyhow, you could pour some battery acid into the soil. This is completely serious advice. "I know I need to do those [Lives] more often because 5 hours is so long" Not only that; I dread waking up to the headline: "TRAGIC AVALANCHE - Local woman buried under hundreds of packages" "There's going to be a Trivia Night in September, start your studying" Done. "When is Trivia Night?" September! September! Sorry, I meant "What is September?" What do I win?!
Happy Hanukkah
2023-08-23 00:24:50 +0000 UTCHeck, the first four alone would make for a good theme week. I'm confident she'd appreciate Ip Man, and while she might find the Stephen Chow movie a little (?!) too goofy, what are the odds she wouldn't enjoy the ending?
Happy Hanukkah
2023-08-23 00:22:02 +0000 UTCI'm retired from Trivia Night but I'll still happily watch along and I'm excited to see who will win and their choices.

2023-08-22 23:28:53 +0000 UTCRunaway Jury was also on her Father’s Day poll so it’s definitely on her radar for that reason. She watched every one of the movies that were on the previous years poll, so she must prioritize his favourites. Understandably!
Cole Jennett
2023-08-22 23:24:29 +0000 UTCRe: “Highs: Watching 3 year olds play soccer.” I remember going to watch my four year old nephew’s t-ball team play ball twenty years ago. It was an hour of kids missing a stationary target, throwing the ball everywhere except where it should’ve gone and sitting in the grass playing with bugs. Absolutely some of the best times of my life.

2023-08-22 23:05:16 +0000 UTCKindergarten Cop is great fun.

2023-08-22 23:00:56 +0000 UTCThe way she was talking, she was really wanting to see The Rainmaker. Almost getting pumped about it. Runaway Jury caught me a little off guard too. I'm not complaining though, I'm sure she'll get around to it eventually.
Shawn Kildal
2023-08-22 22:49:48 +0000 UTCOh shoot! I was getting my hopes up for The Rainmaker after Cassie mentioned it during Primal Fear. Don’t mind me… I’ll keep asking because I know Cassie (and Carly) will love it.

2023-08-22 22:40:02 +0000 UTCI would vote for the longer James Cameron cut of the film. This is actually a new view for me, but watching the longer cuts of LOTR and The Hobbit really changed my mind on how entertaining the Director’s cuts can be.
Uncle Phoenix
2023-08-22 22:38:11 +0000 UTCI was curious about this as well. The Rainmaker was in a ton of Comments, but I barely remember Runaway Jury having as much talk about. It kinda came out of nowhere. I just figured it was at the top of her own personal list.
Larry Darrell
2023-08-22 22:38:03 +0000 UTCPLEASE watch the extended version of The Abyss :-)
Kim Brink
2023-08-22 22:38:01 +0000 UTCDang. Cassie was talking about The Rainmaker during her Primal Fear reaction. Maybe she got he Courtroom movies that begin with "R" mixed up. Wishful thinking. I don't own the physical copy of The Abyss so I'll probably have to wait for the YouTube edit which is a good consultation prize.

2023-08-22 22:28:09 +0000 UTCTime to ask (beg, plead) for Classic Horror and Asian Martial Arts polls again! Last time (last upcoming post by Cassie) I made a list of classic horror movie poll suggestions and promised a list of Asian martial arts next - so here it is, in no particular order, feel free to add anything I missed. . Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (00) Ip Man (08) Enter the Dragon (73) Kung Fu Hustle (04) The Raid: Redemption (11) Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior (03) Fist of Fury (72) Fist of Legend (94) The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (78) Hero (02) Iron Monkey (93) House of Flying Daggers (04) Drunken Master (78) Police Story (85) Once Upon a Time in China (91) Five Deadly Venoms (78) Master of the Flying Guillotine (77) The Street Fighter (74)

2023-08-22 21:48:13 +0000 UTCWow! This promises to be a great couple of weeks or so. Looking forward to a few of these films including The Runaway Jury ... terrific cast including one of my Hollywood crushes Rachel Weiz.😍 Sorry about your vehicle and the lost keys, that had to be frustrating. Speaking of hydrangeas, 2021 and last year mine were beautiful... this year not one bloom. Go figure.

2023-08-22 21:43:39 +0000 UTCJust a straight Google search, Jon. Though, the info may not be current. I live in Canada so the streaming options may be different. I've got my own DVD copy like you.

2023-08-22 21:43:29 +0000 UTCWoah !! Red Dawn ...... The original, man I hope Cassie watches something funny and uplifting afterwards because Red Dawn is one heck of a tear jerker of a film its an amazing movie , one of my favorites but man, there are scenes in this movie that really pull and yank on the heart strings ... be sure to have tissues at the ready , I promise you will need them

2023-08-22 21:26:04 +0000 UTC"Kindergarten Cop for funsies and back to school and Red Dawn" Wait, are we getting Back to School also? Or is that a "back to school" for the kids? I would love to see how Cassie reacts to the great Sam Kinison's scene.

2023-08-22 21:24:32 +0000 UTCYou are not mistaken. I bought a copy on Amazon, and it came in yesterday. Only $17 USD and the DVD has both the theatrical cut, and Special Edition.
Jon Johns
2023-08-22 21:23:44 +0000 UTC@Lee Phoenix So, Cassie does have her own copy, and it is not available to stream ANYWHERE... Her DVD or Bluray will have both the theatrical and SE versions. Most Patreon members (Here and on Discord) have suggested the Special Edition, a few purists think the theatrical is better, and the SE on a second watch. I am SURE she will be reading these comments, so please feel free to state your choice and why! AFAIK, the only available to purchase DVD's have both versions, I have actually not seen a "Theatrical-only" DVD available to purchase anywhere... I just got my copy via Amazon for $17 USD yesterday.

2023-08-22 21:12:17 +0000 UTCIt would basically be great for Cassie at the start of THE ABYSS reaction to just go ahead and tell us the run time of the version she is watching so that we know.
Mike LL
2023-08-22 21:10:19 +0000 UTCStoked for the Abyss. But has to be long version otherwise story make less sense. There is no debate, extended version is the only one to watch.

Bill Hayden
2023-08-22 21:09:30 +0000 UTCYay, The Abyss. Under-appreciated at the time and a legendarily difficult production. Just watched Dog Day Afternoon for the first time this past week. Excellent film. John Cazale had a brief but brilliant career, famous for all his movies being stone cold classics including this one.
Wes Stewart
2023-08-22 21:08:02 +0000 UTCThey're saying it's available on Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Apple TV+ but I don't know if that's currently up-to-date. May have to go old school with DVD/Blu Ray.
Zane From Canada
2023-08-22 21:06:00 +0000 UTCI think that you are right. It’s a bit more complicated too; because I think that Cassie already has the Blu-ray, and there are at least a couple different versions of that movie. So we will just have to wait and see which is which and then order the Blu-ray after we find out which version Cass is going to use.
Uncle Phoenix
2023-08-22 21:04:31 +0000 UTCFor THE ABYSS, ensure you watch the extended cut/special edition. The theatrical cut is good but the special edition is spectacular and provides much needed additional context to the ending.
Matt Rose
2023-08-22 21:03:44 +0000 UTCFantastic lineup! Runaway Jury will be much more satisfying according to Cassie movie ending standards. Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman acting together for the first time. They've been lifelong friends since the late 50's early 60's, while trying to make it as actors in NYC. Mission Accomplished. 👍 Kindergarten Cop is awesome. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ivan Reitman (director of Ghostbusters): stroke of comedy genius. It's funny, sweet, heartwarming, and has a few "OMG" moments. You'll love it. Red Dawn is great war movie. The Russians and Cubans invade America and the young kids fight back guerrilla style. I'm looking forward to it. PS: Sorry about your hydrangeas. Dark mulch is great for plant growth. It helps hold the moisture in the soil. Add some Miracle-Gro and then it's just a matter of balance with sunlight and rain. Good luck.
