"Three Days of the Condor" is a great spy thriller, and Robert Redford does a great job as the hunted CIA analyst who "just reads books"!

Michael Gilbrook

Cassie, if you're looking for another Robert Redford movie, I would strongly recommend "The Last Castle" which also includes James Gandolfini from the Sopranos. Glad you're having a great summer(Even if its been a little hectic!)

Mike Carey

I've recommended PATHAAN to her. I agree, she'd enjoy it.

Matt Rose

After Bond Films, there are other spy action movies you can watch. You would love the Yash Raj Spy Universe it's an Indian shared universe centered on a series of spy action films, which feature various fictional RAW agents, start it by watching Ek Tha Tiger(2012) Featuring Salman Khan, and the sequel to it Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) these movies feature more fun romance and action trills side by side and the next 2 are spin-off which makes it a larger spy story with War featuring Hrithik Roshan this one is very much like a high-stake mission impossible ride with a face-off twist. Pathaan is a comeback story of a beloved Indian Movie star Shah Rukh Khan after 4-year hiatus. If you have followed the actor it's very meta and you'll want to explore his Romantic films after this. So please watch them with Carly you'll have an incredible journey.

"Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman is an all-time favorite.

John Deardurff

Fantastic movie! I remember seeing it in the theater when it was released. Amazing locations, gritty story about living life on the very margins of survival and hunting "grizz". One I never pass up if I see it on tv.

Brian W

That’s how I felt when she was watching The Equalizer but I didn’t say anything because why say anything?

jdj830

I had never heard of this movie and seriously thought that's who it was in the thumbnail!

Michael H. the Lord of the Legacy

Been a fan of Dick Proenneke's story for nigh on 30 years. Almost convinced me to go that way myself. Only thing that really held me back was hot water at the turn of a faucet. I do a lot of hiking and camping. The hauling and heating of water is a chore i would not want to dedicate to for life.

BRT

WOW! I suggested this one before but I never thought you would actually get around to it. It's been a fave for me since I was a kid. So many great characters throughout. Never fails to make me tear up when he loses Swan and Caleb. I see lots of mentions for "Little Big Man" That's a really good one. Great balance of odd comedy and serious moments.

BRT

Now that you said it its hard not to see it lol.

Talk about eating Crow!

My name is Gosh. [snap crackle pop] Ambassador Gosh.

I just watched this movie for the first time and thought it was great. (Just as Cassie's reaction was great.) I kept thinking of the hour long documentary that airs periodically on PBS called "Alone in the Wilderness" about a man named Dick Proenneke. In 1968, at the age of 51, he became a "mountain man" in Alaska and stayed there for 30 years. He brought along on old 35mm camera and filmed much of the process during his first couple years. It's one of my favorite documentaries, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants more of what "Jeremiah Johnson" had to offer.

Ira Graif

I can't wait to watch this along with you; I LOVE Zach Galifianakis! :-P

OMG! OMG OMG OMG! I can't tell you how emotional this makes me! I remember as a young child, I used to sit at my grandpa's feet by the fireplace, and he would tell me and the other young'uns about the time this woman called Cassie had drawn this movie from a sleeping bag she called a pillowcase. This is a dream come true for me. If only my dear old grandpappy were still here to watch this with me and my own grandchildren! 😂😂😂 (Oh, and the G stands for Gosh. Obviously.)

Happy Hanukkah

Strongly seconded!

Muleskinner!!

Wait I got one more.... something about fava beans and a nice Chianti....

Bill W

There was a war on and all the good cuts of Crow were going to the soldiers, so he was doing his part in rationing.

Looking around Popcorn Requests I realized how under-reacted the 70s and the 60s are with only 17 and 10 reactions. There are only 10 movies in the top 100 requests from these two decades, even though there are some real gems if you check the top 50 of just these decades. Also, they usually don't stand a chance when paired up on a poll with more recent movies. So, I would like to propose a poll idea for the autumn: a dedicated top 50 draw for specifically the 60s: https://popcornrequests.com/filters_binary/eyJjdXN0b20iOiIhKG0ueWVhcj49MTk2MCAmJiBtLnllYXI8MTk3MCkifQ== And another one for the 70s: https://popcornrequests.com/filters_binary/eyJjdXN0b20iOiIhKG0ueWVhcj49MTk3MCAmJiBtLnllYXI8MTk4MCkifQ==

The movie did not show what Johnson was famous for - eating the liver of each Crow warrior he killed. He is known throughout history as Liver-Eating Johnson.

Robert Nelson

Welcome to the 70s, when people had less to do and directors thought that a slow meditative buildup = depth, and frankly why not stretch out the time when you can sit in air conditioning? Also a slow pace meant that people knew that it wasn’t the end of the world to get up in the middle to get more refreshments, and that’s how theaters make their real money. Anyway- I agree with those who think you would like Little Big Man, one of Dustin Hoffman’s finest performances (though have you seen The Graduate? You must…) And now I’m trying to decide whether or not to recommend Deliverance. It’s brutal, but then so was The Equalizer, and Deliverance delivers a much richer movie for your tolerance for violence. And speaking of both Redford AND Hoffman - have you seen All the President’s Men? So many necessary movies from the 70s (also: Nashville.)

Settlers of Catan is great. It's sheep we trade. :)

I keep saying the same thing in regards to the Power Ball or Mega Millions lottery

Mine too. I don't think it's quite the masterpiece that UNFORGIVEN is (although Cassie will probably enjoy it more), but I have a special affinity for it because it was the number one movie at the box office the week that I was born.

Stick Figure Studios

it will happen at some point, my friend. Have patience.

Stick Figure Studios

Outlaw Josey Wales is one of my favorite Eastwood movies and I keep hoping she will get a chance to watch it at some point.

Dave Hill

I talked to you all the way through this one, but I lost track of most of it. When he said the woman was "touched", he really meant "crazy", and the Indians wouldn't mess with a crazy person. Also, the truce at the end was just between those two men, not the whole tribe. I second the motion on Josey Wales. All in favor?...

Chris

Another western made a few years after JEREMIAH JOHNSON that's similar to it in some ways is OUTLAW JOSEY WALES with a young Clint Eastwood. You should watch that one. I'm confident you will like it.

Stick Figure Studios

You know, you can just be disinterested quietly rather than a negative voice.

Jeff Rogers

I'd like to second little big man.

Jeff Rogers

Then don't watch?

Here’s the trailer for anyone that’s interested. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dzSE213EhE0

Just Plain Bob

I agree 👍

Manuel Villacana

I saw that movie when I was six years old in the theater. I was convinced I could never love another girl the way I loved Jenny by the end of the movie (even though she was two years older than me - forever time when you’re six). A great movie that proves it’s possible to make high quality family entertainment.

Just Plain Bob

I could see you acting in a Western, Cassie. As you look in this video anyway.

Robert Jewell

Now do “Little Big Man”.

Roger Banks

Richard Bourne

The meme comes from this movie? 😯😲

Louis Chapman

Speaking of great movies from the '70s by chance have you ever seen the adventure of a wilderness family?(1975) Is good clean family entertainment

Manuel Villacana

Cassie, you mentioned reading The Fourth Wing. I’d HIGHLY recommend Anne McCaffrey’s absolutely wonderful fantasy/sci-fi series The Dragonriders of Pern, which predated The Fourth Wing by five decades. The first book in the series, Dragonflight, earned her both the Hugo and Nebula Awards (the highest awards for fantasy and sci-fi), making her the first woman to win either award. Ms. McCaffrey created a wonderfully immersive world populated with fascinating characters. The story is superb in the first few books and only gets better as it veers into unexpected territory in book four. Fantastic series. PS: Delightful reaction to a great movie.

Just Plain Bob

"Jeremiah Johnson" but no "The Searchers". Okay PS: "Jeremiah Johnson" has the best GIF of all time.

No wonder my grandma had such a crush on Robert Redford 💜his rugged handsome looks like OK !! 😍👍👍
