"I'm coming up...I'm coming!!...I want the world to know!""

We are HOME! It felt incredible to sleep in my own bed, not to mention watch a movie there WITH CARLLY again finally. We had a memory-making few weeks with my parents back in Canada which was so special, but I think I'm ready for back to school and more routine! Nothing like a fresh bouquet of sharpened pencils and the smell of a new box of crayons. Who remembers back to school shopping for a new binder and new jeans and sweaters in 100 degree weather as absolute magic? Speaking of back to school-I think I am choosing Kindergarten Cop as my Cassie's PPOTM (popcorn pick of the month) for September!

We have some GREAT movies this week on here-Boxing, Bond and Hitchcock oh my!

Speaking of Bond.....I'm "thinking" about doing a poll for a couple more Bonds that we didn't watch back in time? What do you think? Are you Bonded out? Will it be harder to watch the older ones now that I have seen the new ones?

I need to do another WMW poll, how can i categorize them? besides the war they were about? any ideas?

PACKAGE OPENING LIVE WILL BE 8/19 2:30 MST ISH I am so sorry this has been so delayed, Ben had to make it all about him and have that hospital stay ;) **sarcasm

Thank you so much for all the feedback on last week's update post, that was so helpful to see your comments and suggestions!

Love all your beautiful faces, I wish everyone the first fresh page of a brand new notebook kind of Monday!

Cassie

Got to meet up with our amazing moderators in an amazing place!

Comments

I still say Cassie and Carly will love the Big Country with Gregory Peck and a young Charlton Heston. I won't give out any spoilers but everything the love about movies - it's got.

John Liebling

Not to mention it would be funny to see Cassie kind of dance around saying the title.

Art of Free Speech

I don't know it was nominated for an Academy Award it has Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and Scarlett Johansson. I gave it a 7 on IMDB. So it couldn't have been that bad.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

After Bond Films, there are other spy action movies you can watch. You would love the Yash Raj Spy Universe it's an Indian shared universe centered on a series of spy action films, which feature various fictional RAW agents, start it by watching Ek Tha Tiger(2012) Featuring Salman Khan, and the sequel to it Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) these movies feature more fun romance and action trills side by side and the next 2 are spin-off which makes it a larger spy story with War featuring Hrithik Roshan this one is very much like a high-stake mission impossible ride with a face-off twist. Pathaan is a comeback story of a beloved Indian Movie star Shah Rukh Khan after 4-year hiatus. If you have followed the actor it's very meta and you'll want to explore his Romantic films after this. So please watch them with Carly you'll have an incredible journey.

Dying for the Gone in 60 Seconds reaction

QuigonJim25

YES!

Stick Figure Studios

I don't typically like this word because it gets *way* overused, but it's a masterpiece.

Stick Figure Studios

Me too. Very underrated Bond movie. The first one I ever saw. I'll always love it.

Stick Figure Studios

I'd also add LIFEBOAT with Tallulah Bankhead, I CONFESS with Montgomery Clift, THE WRONG MAN with Henry Fonda, ROPE with Jimmy Stewart, NOTORIOUS with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, and FAMILY PLOT with Barbara Kraft.

Stick Figure Studios

And it's an awful film with virtually no connection to reality whatsoever. One is better off reading the book it's "based" on: ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO by Stephen Rebello. It's a great book and was seminal in my development as a cinephile.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh my oh my, I really can't wait for NTTD, does anybody think it will be released in the next 10 hours?

davidov

I was going to propose the exact same idea!

William Edwards

So there is the movie Hitchcock (2012) where Anthony Hopkins plays Alfred Hitchcock and shows how he made Psycho.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

I have two Richard Donner (Superman, Goonies, Lethal Weapon, Maverick, etc) films that I have to watch once a year, and I think you’d like them both. Assassins (Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas, and Julianne Moore), and Conspiracy Theory (Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, and Patrick Stewart). Action, laughs, drama.

Brian Lowery

I'm so excited to see what you think of Vertigo.

Hunter DeRensis

:-) Seriously, while I definitely preferred FYEO, I don't get het up about the movie choices here. Especially since I found the the funeral scene at the beginning of LaLD so memorable. (Oh, and as if the character's fate wasn't enough, Carly and Cassie cold-bloodily murdered poor Robert Dix! :-) )

Happy Hanukkah

Let it go, brother. Just let it go.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes to all this.

Drew

What I would really like, and I think I speak for all of you, is for Cassie to do a re-reaction to Live and Let Die. Such a classic would surely benefit from a second watch! :-P

Happy Hanukkah

[A belated response to Cassie:] Leo Getz has entered the chat. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Yes to more Bond! Dr. No is a must (and it was only one vote away from winning second place for Connery). For Your Eyes Only was in a close third place for Moore. Moonraker would be good too. The World is Not Enough was third place for Brosnan. And Berry Nelson didn't even get a chance. He was in a television adaptation of "Casino Royale" back in 1954, eight years before Connery's debut. It gets looked over because it is one of three Bond productions not made by EON Productions, and because it's a television episode instead of a proper movie. ("Climax!" Season 1, Episode 3.)

John Fode

Ok.

Bill W

I support that. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Talking about the song Cassie quoted in the post.

Bill W

Oh, all right, I'll be helpful. :-( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBrz-5ai1mo

Happy Hanukkah

For WMW: Patton (1970) Biopic of WWII American Gen. George S. Patton starring George C. Scott. Won Oscars for best picture, best director, best actor (Scott) and best original screenplay (by Francis Ford Coppola, director of The Godfather). Based on real events. Scott's performance is one of the greatest portrayals of a historical figure. An all time great war movie with none of the graphic gore of Pvt. Ryan or Hacksaw Ridge. Paths of Glory (1957) A WWI movie based on a 1935 novel, directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Kirk Douglas (father of Michael Douglas). The violence, while realistically filmed, lacks the graphic gore associated with modern war movies. Also has a courtroom element with Douglas as defense for the accused. A story driven movie, not an action movie. Nothing like the Kubrick movies you have seen.

Stephen Malloy

Uhm... I'm happy you consider this such a safe space...? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

"The World Is Not Enough" is Garbage!

Happy Hanukkah

It IS enough.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

After Bond I think you guys should check out the Dirty Harry Series, there's five altogether, Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, and The Dead Pool. Awesome series.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Right, and for me she could watch MWtGG and no other Bond and I'd be okay with it - to each their own.

Richard Maurer

As a teacher starting his twentieth year, I’d love to see a reaction to Finding Forester. Sean Connery, Rob Brown. Excellent film.

Brian Lowery

I agree about CT,HD. Personally I dont like that movie, but it's the most successfull "foreign movie" in the US and it's even on top 100 on popcorn request. It's even the only one on top 200..

Björn Karlsson

Me too.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, baby!

Stick Figure Studios

And Franco Zefferelli's HAMLET with Mel Gibson would be interesting.

Stick Figure Studios

Same.

Stick Figure Studios

I think TWINE is Pierce Brosnan best after GoldenEye

Stick Figure Studios

I'd love for you to do more Bond! World is Not Enough being at the top of my list!

Cody Nelson

Amen to that!

Cody Nelson

Cassie has seen it.

Stephen Malloy

Well, obviously I would object as that is my least favorite Bond film. I don't care if she never watches it, but I realize you can't please everybody.

Stick Figure Studios

Sports movie : HOOSIERS

David Fisher

Yes to more Bond! We need The World Is Not Enough!

Aaron Ritchie

It’s All Good. What will be, will be. I’ll add Rebecca (1940) with Joan Fontaine. Or Suspicion (1941) with Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine. Or Shadow of a Doubt (1943) with Teresa Wright. Last one just because. :-)

Larry Darrell

The Exorcist - I wish. Or maybe I don't, Cassie's probably not ready for that - yet. I know she's said she'd never watch it but give it a few more Halloweens, she might get confident and change her mind.

Richard Maurer

I need to come up with some random reason to try to get my favorites watched, all the while knowing it won't work because, if for no other reason, it would set a bad precedent where everyone would expect to get their favorites watched for the same reason (sorry, I went into sarcasm overload there).

Richard Maurer

It's actually "I'm Coming Out"...

Bill W

Bond could use a break, Cassie can always go back to them later, like next year maybe. And I was one of the ones in favor of Bond, but that was because she was skipping a lot them. The Bond movies (along with Mission Impossible and the Bourne movies) are very repetitive when viewed one after another. They have basically the same plot, for the most part.

Richard Maurer

@ Mike - I get it and I'm in agreement, especially if you mean the endless action movies. I probably go a little overboard when it comes to Harryhausen, he was one of my childhood idols. But still, Jason and the Argonauts before anything else he's done, it's not even a question ;-)

Richard Maurer

As for war movies: I highly recommend Kubrick’s Paths of Glory (a terse WWI drama that could also be in the courtroom category); the original 1930 version of All Quiet on the Western Front, which to my mind is far superior to the recent remake, and one of the few serious war films that doesn’t romanticize war; Kurosawa’s Ran, perhaps the greatest color Samurai film; Chimes at Midnight (aka Falstaff), which might be the greatest of all Shakespeare films with some tremendous battle scenes (and you also need to see its sequel Henry V); and, since Truffaut one said that the only true anti-war films are comedies, try Duck Soup, the great Marx Brothers satire of war; Chaplin’s The Great Dictator; Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove; and perhaps a couple of war-adjacent musicals might be interesting as well, like Cabaret (a tale of an American in Germany as it slid towards Nazism, which did for Liza Minnelli what Wizard of Oz did for her mother) and Hair (which explains why hippies emerged as a reaction to the Vietnam War, which in the end they are unable to avoid.)

jdj830

I like this idea. Such polls could be filled relatively easily from Popcorn Requests, taking the top X movies after filtering for the war genre and year range. Or even doing a random draw from the top N.

Gábor Árki

1000%!

Mike LL

Or Dial M for Murder (1954) with Grace Kelly. Or To Catch A Thief (also 1954) with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. (Sorry, Larry Darrell, we really hijacked your comment!)

Mike LL

Oh for sure, do what you gotta do. And happy birthday! Should have said that the first time😊

Cole Jennett

@Richard- a lot of those were just great movies that caught my eye while quickly scrolling my hard drive. If I took the time, I could easily list hundreds more good to great movies across multiple genres Cassie would probably like, or at least appreciate, that haven't been reacted to by anyone major. That is what makes the endless series and all the samey movies lately (and multiple reactors doing the same 5 movies) so frustrating.

Mike Lemon

Perhaps Collateral. Tom's darker side.

softshoes

Here's an idea for WMW - poll them by eras when the films were made. You could poll for films up to 1950, then a poll for films 1950-1980, 1980-2000, and 2000-present.

Dave

And Clash of the Titans as a great movie? As a Ray Harryhausen fan there are much better movies that showcase his stop motion animation talent (and that's what all these movies were, showcases for his talent). I'd go with Jason and the Argonauts over any of his other films. Not that I hate CotT, but there are a lot of RH films I'd put before it.

Richard Maurer

Agree with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Fun movie that I think Cassie would enjoy.

Richard Maurer

I just think the amount of action films on this channel has been a bit much lately. If Cassie went back to Bond next year I wouldn't object - especially if it were Man With the Golden Gun. In fact, she could do just that Bond movie next week and I wouldn't object ;-)

Richard Maurer

Saw is not really that scary or gory. No worse than Se7en anyway. In fact I'd label it suspense rather than horror - it almost doesn't belong on a horror poll, but I'll make an exception in this case ;-)

Richard Maurer

Sorry, but Crouching Tiger is a must. The best martial arts movie ever made, imo. In fact Cassie should just watch CT,HD then put everything else on the Asian Martial Arts poll.

Richard Maurer

The swedish trilogy rocks and Cassie got them 🙂

Björn Karlsson

@Robert- Saw was announced to be watched last year but was switched out at the last minute.

Mike Lemon

That's a lot of camouflage for your request for Cassie to continue the Hitchcock movies with The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956). :-)

Happy Hanukkah

All for more Bond films please! There are still some fantastic ones that you didn’t get around to watching :) Looking forward to the reaction to NTTD.

Calum Provan

This would be a good time to watch Dr. No, because it came out only a couple of years after North by Northwest and you can see how Hitchcock influenced the Bond films. Also since you just watched the latest Bond you can see how far they’ve come from the first one. Other than that, I do think it’s time to move on from Bond, though I could see you doing another one or two of the Connerys and maybe another Brosnan somewhere down the road. I do think there are other rabbit holes to go down, like maybe some of the earlier Jack Nicholson films (Five Easy Pieces, Cuckoo’s Nest etc). And I seem to remember that you didn’t recognize a Pee-wee Herman reference in one film, so in honor of the late great Paul Ruebens you really need to watch Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (which is also timely because it was a major influence on the Barbie movie.) And while you’re still on the Tom Cruise high you should watch Magnolia.

jdj830

As a James Bond fan I am in for more bond films! :D I hope that we will see Octopussy some day on this channel.

Rinus007

I agree with Crocodile Dundee, Men Of Honour and Saw. Even though realistically I don't think Cassie will choose to see Saw lol.

ROBERT CLARK

If anyone has read any of my posts on the Bond Films, then they know I'm for more Classic James Bond. Question is... Does Cassie Really feel like returning so soon? I hope Cassie only watches more James Bond, because She Wants To, and not to appease any of us. It can definitely wait, if she wants to. Although, for Myself, after watching No Time to Die... I Really, Really, Really Wanted to Watch The Classic James Bond Films again. Especially, one in particular, that They have seen already. No comment on anything else. Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be. And I'm Here for It. Side Note. I did something this past weekend that I hadn't done in a Long Time. The Family was away for the weekend and I decided that after cooking in the heat all week long at work, that I was going to have my own Vacation inside the cool house... and have a Movie Marathon. This Marathon had a unique theme. Movies Released in June, 1981. 1. Clash of the Titans 2. Raiders of the Lost Ark 3. History of the World: Part 1 4. The Cannonball Run 5. The Great Muppet Caper 6. Dragonslayer 7. Stripes 8. For Your Eyes Only 9. Escape From New York This was A Lot of Fun. Perhaps Cassie could try something like this, in a smaller fashion, as a Theme Week. You really get a sense of a different time. I almost thought I could do a "Somewhere in Time" time-travel thing. By the way, Dragonslayer (1981) could be released today, and it would be a Hit. Highly Recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it. PS: Also, in the weeks leading up to this past weekend, I also watched, Fort Apache the Bronx The Howling Cutter's Way Thief Nighthawks Excalibur ...which were all released earlier in 1981. This really makes you Miss Old Hollywood. :-)

Larry Darrell

Welcome home, Cassie! If you choose to watch more Bond movies, go ahead. Although I think you can watch more later in the year, because I am "Bond-ed" out and would like to see more different stuff from you. As for WMW, if you are not ready to go down the path of Viet Nam war movies, there are still some very good World War II movies out there that you have not seen. Are you still planning on a Biggest Loser poll? That sounds like fun. Looking forward to the nest LIVE package opening. Ben did have a hand in that delay. Oh well. All set for more Cassie(and Carly) adventures in movie watching.

Mark Vaderr

Kindergarten Cop is an excellent choice. As if Arnie alone isn’t enough, you’ve got action, humor, suspense and romance. In other words, it’s got PiB written all over it.

Stephen Malloy

For WMW I would recommend Generation Kill. Yes it’s a series but only seven episodes and extremely well done look at modern military operations. 13 hours is based on a true story and also very well done. I would also like to propose a new poll: rewatch with Carly. It would be fun to watch you react to Carly reacting to Firefly.

Evil Darth Carl

Kindergarten Cop isn't in my top 10 or even top 20 but its a good movie I'm excited for you to watch. As for Bond....bleh.

My_Cousin_Mose

Oh, and I am really REALLY excited about VERTIGO. It is quite possibly Hitchcock's greatest film (and is even considered by some to be the greatest film eber made). It is a work of art. A dark, deep, suspenseful psychological masterpiece.

Stick Figure Studios

Others may be "Bonded" out, but I'm not. Definitely do more (and Moore). I wouldn't do a poll though. I don't trust polls anymore. Just watch the third place winners of the previous polls (THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY and DR. NO). I also like the above suggestion to watch them in reverse order because then you end with the first Bond movie, the one that essentially introduced Connery and the character to the world.

Stick Figure Studios

Me too.

Stick Figure Studios

I also prefer THE FRENCH CONNECTION. Not only a young Gene Hackman but for my money, the greatest car chase in film history.

Stick Figure Studios

At some point it would be great to go back and watch the Bond film Dr. No. It’s a fun film, and offers a unique perspective on the franchise before everyone knew they had a hit. It’s like watching the first day of a new sport. Maybe not the best ever play, but a unique discovery of great choices. Also, really enjoying the great vista photos of ice cream, moderators, powerlifted young people, etc. Hope it was a great vacation! 😊

Steve Holton

Despite my loving the James Bond series, I think it would be a fun swerve if you were to look into watching non-Bond movies starring actors that played James Bond. For example: The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan, Hot Fuzz with Timothy Dalton, Name of the Rose with Sean Connery, and so forth.

Christopher B.

Haha... Yeah but I don't see them loving it as much as they would love Joyeux Noël. This is true Cole, but none of my other pleas to get this movie on the list has worked so it was worth a try.

Dissonant Bard

I would let Carly off the hook for any movies pre-mid/late 90s. She doesn't seem to care for most of tbem.

Bill W

I hope Shakespeare in Love would qualify

Cole Jennett

There are 3000 of us patrons, so statistically it’s 7 other people’s birthday today too😉.

Cole Jennett

The Wind and The Lion is one of my favorites.

Rick Williams

Good choices. Also, the old school crowd will understandably wish to boost Laurence Olivier's movies. Tying this to the original post, I thought the Timothy Dalton James Bond movies were decent enough, but not particularly Bond-ish. It's only when I saw Dalton in Antony and Cleopatra (1984) that I understood what the Bond producers had seen in him (and which unfortunately did not transfer to his Bond movies).

Happy Hanukkah

Mike: If I must be serious :-) , there's the Swedish trilogy with Noomi Rapace, the American version by David Fincher, with Rooney Mara, and its poorly received sequel / soft reboot. (Used copies of the Millenium Trilogy books are languishing somewhere in my apartment. I might get around to them, one of these decades.)

Happy Hanukkah

Merchant of Venice (2004), Hamlet (1990)

Mike Lemon

Awakenings would be a good one considering she just saw Hoffman in Rain Man. I think De Niro's performance is up there with Dusty's although it's a very different condition.

Shehab Dawoud

@Happy- 5? I only have 3. But I only advocate for the first one.

Mike Lemon

Happy Birthday. I shall demonstrate great self-control and not mention: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084555/ Oops. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Suggestions for a Shakespeare poll, inspired by Mike Lemon: 1. Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (1968) 2. Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet (1996) 3. Kenneth Branagh's Henry V (1989) 4. Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing (1993) 5. Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing (2012)

Happy Hanukkah

"Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"?! Great, another five movies sucking up all the oxygen! :-) :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I only get 300 on YouTube since Star Wars , but I may have miscounted (and it doesn't really matter). I look at that list and see all the great movies passed by to see yet another in a series. Last Unicorn (1982), Awakenings (1990), Brewster's Millions (1985), Clash of the Titans (1981), Crocodile Dundee (1986), Indictment (1995), Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), Shogun (1980), Men of Honor (2000), Mr. Brooks (2007), Pentagon Wars (1998), Conspiracy Theory (1997), Saw (2004)... so many great movies are just sitting out there waiting to be watched.

Mike Lemon

Ok ok ok, I totally get where you are coming from, but to play devils advocate, since the 1st star wars there have been 336 other reactions, if you minus all the series you listed (74) that is still 336 others that are not part of those big ones!! I try really hard to have variety but also love getting to watch characters and stories evolve over series!

Cassie

Today's my birthday. In honor can you put Joyeux Noël on the calendar for your December war movie

Dissonant Bard

oooh i kinda like this idea!

Cassie

Here's one vote for being "Bonded out."

Brent Petty

Me too! I remember climbing the Bear's Hump (stunning view at the top) and taking the international walk. Dunno if they're still doing that since 9-11 or covid. But was fun...

Adam Hendry

now way! small world, one of my favorite places on earth

Cassie

oh im sorry it took so long!~!

Cassie

For your eyes only ftw 🤩

Björn Karlsson

I'm with you. It is a superb film, and I can't wait for her reaction and her level of engagement in the film.

Mike LL

I always liked Diana Ross, and that was one of her best later hits.

Mike LL

Vertigo!!! One of my favorite film’s of all time! I can’t wait to see your reaction 😁

Damion Nightfire

I'm still hoping for a Shakespeare poll or a "movies seen in other movies" poll, but I can get behind classic horror or Asian martial arts (not Crouching Tiger).

Mike Lemon

Black Panther 2 was four months ago, but I'm using Marvel to help show how much time has been devoted to long series.

Mike Lemon

Just do Das boot. If you put it in a wmw poll it will lose..

Björn Karlsson

I agree, except when it comes to Marvel. Can't remember the last time Marvel was on this channel. I know Cassie enjoys Marvel, so I hope she's not listening to the haters.

Richard Maurer

Double feature with Das Boot? Superb idea!!! I’d love to see that.

Just Plain Bob

Please, I'm begging, enough with the bajillion movie/show series. Since the first Star Wars reaction- Star Wars- 24 reactions Marvel- 17 Rocky- 9 (counting this week) Bond- 13 (counting this week) -plus 5 Jurassic Parks and 6 Mission Impossibles. (edit- one of those Jurassic Parks was before the Star Wars reaction)

Mike Lemon

Glad you had a great time and I’m super stoked you decided to do both Hitchcock films!

Johnny Liu

I'm here 😬😬

Björn Karlsson

Paging Björn Karlsson. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Between Bond, Mission Impossible, and all the random 80's - 90's action films lately I think a lot of people could use a rest.

Richard Maurer

That would fall under the European Movies poll - that we haven't had yet either ;-)

Richard Maurer

Goddammit, no more Bond.

Carol_White

We could watch Waterloo (1970) in advance of the upcoming Napoleon.

Happy Hanukkah

Oops, my mistake; I thought you said "Poles." :-P

Happy Hanukkah

Like Day of the Siege (1683) [2012]. Excellent choice! (The winged hussars arrive!)

Happy Hanukkah

100%!!

Mike LL

I wish we could get some different types of polls. Like Classic Horror and Asian Martial Arts polls, for instance.

Richard Maurer

You also have war movies that were made more than once. Like Dunkirk. It was made in 1958 and 2017. You reacted to the 2017 one. You also have Midway 1976 and 2019. There are a number of battles that had multiple movies made. You could compare the different versions.

Rick Williams

Thanks. I'm hoping she sees my list one day. I'm not sure how often Cassie reads the comments.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

God save the King. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

As for categorizing war movies you could go by decades. War movies made in the 40's, 50's, 60's, etc. Then for the 50's you could have something like, The horse Soldiers (American Civil War). Pork Chop Hill (Korean War). Operation Petticoat, etc.

Rick Williams

Could be a great double feature with DAS BOOT.

Gábor Árki

:-) And as a compromise between East and West, we can start with Hard Target (1993), starring Van Damme but noticeably directed by John Woo.

Happy Hanukkah

"WWII was separated into three theaters of operation ... Within each theater of operation there were 3 types of battles ..." Hence the title of Victor Davis Hanson's book: The Second World Wars.

Happy Hanukkah

Look into The Devil's Brigade - a true(-ish) story about a joint American-Canadian unit in WWII with an amazing combat record (that part is true).

2-Can

A reaction to The Scarlet Pimpernel? I've been seeking one everywhere! :-) (I remember enjoying the Richard E. Grant miniseries.) I've read Michael Crichton's Timeline novel, but the unenthusiastic reviews have kept me from watching the movie.

Happy Hanukkah

Welcome home, Cassie. 💛

james flack

3 of the best ww2 movies you should see are A BRIDGE TOO FARE / Memphis Belle / DAS BOOT

dirkpitt

Henry V is a good movie.

Rick Williams

Nice!

Steve Colletti

Great movie

Just Plain Bob

I was wondering when someone would mention THE LONGEST DAY. Nice list!

Steve Colletti

The lost battalion , for your warrior Wednesdays that's my reccomendation you will love it , some parts are hard to watch but it is an amazing film

Wyatt Nuxoll

Recommending Greyhound (2020) with Tom Hanks as a great WWII film to watch.

Jesus F Christ

Maybe the bond movies that have yet to be seen can wait till next year to give other action movie categories a chance. Like Jackie Chan movies or ,ahem, Van Damme .

Hiraoka Toru

WWII was separated into three theaters of operation, European, Mediterranean & Middle East, and Pacific-Asian. Within each theater of operation there were 3 types of battles, land battles, air battles and sea battles. You should try and view movies about each theater/battle type. In addition, there are many movies about prisoners of war, civilian resistance operations, and post-war themes. As far as suggestions, her are some of my favorites . European Theater: Twelve O'Clock High (1949), Skyggen i mit oje (The Bombardment, 2021), The Battle of the Bulge (1965), The Longest Day (1962), Sink the Bismarck (1960), Enemy Below (1957). Mediterranean Theater: The Guns of Nazarone (1961), The Desert Fox (1951) Pacific-Asian Theater: Midway (1976), Mister Roberts (1955), Enola Gay (1980) Resistance: The Train (1964), Max Manus:Man of War (2008) POW: Stalag 17 (1953), Bridge On The River Kwai (1957) Post War: Captain Newman, MD (1963), Sophies Choice (1982), The Best Years of our Lives (1946), The Boys from Brazil (1978).

Timothy Crandall

Honestly, I'd really suggest you start tackling some more Cary Grant films or screwball comedies in general. So many great ones that you'd genuinely enjoy. THE AWFUL TRUTH, BRINGING UP BABY, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, CHARADE, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, etc.

Matt Rose

Flags of our fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima would be a good war movie Wednesday to watch. You should watch both of them relatively close to each other as they share some of the same scenes and actors telling the story from the two sides.

Alex Gorell

If we are taking suggestions, I have to include one of my favorites, Timeline. For an older movie, 1934, The Scarlet Pimpernel with Leslie Howard. For a WWII movie, Shining Through.

Roger Wayne Alms

A not-serious recommendation for WMW: Battleship (2012). :-)

Happy Hanukkah

If you're indeed going to go back and watch a few more Bond films, I'd recommend: DR. NO THUNDERBALL FOR YOUR EYES ONLY Those are probably the 'best' ones of those remaining. If only two, then skip DR. NO.

Matt Rose

Agree wholeheartedly!

Just Plain Bob

For WMW, I once again nominate a true classic: Henry V (1989). (With thanks to the Godfather of quantum mechanics.) ("Starring" Christian Bale!)

Happy Hanukkah

Some war movies that don't get many votes, A Matter of Life and Death and Memphis Belle, A Midnight Clear and The Wind and the Lion to name a few.

Hiraoka Toru

Also I'm really looking forward to Kindergarten Cop. Good film and I'm sure it'll make an enjoyable reaction.

ROBERT CLARK

Gracias, amigo!

Shehab Dawoud

I haven't seen Creed 3 so this'll be the first Rocky movie I watch with them for the first time.

I'm up for you watching the Bonds you haven't seen yet. But If you are only going to do 2 may I suggest Dr.No and Thunderball. I think it would be interesting taking yourself and Carly back to the Connery Era after seeing the recent films.

ROBERT CLARK

I think you can have three or four categories for war movies. Epics, Biographies and foreign language. Also maybe a category for some movies that don't have a chance of winning a poll.

Hiraoka Toru

Creed III, No Time To Die, and Vertigo, good line up! Really glad you made it home safely Cassie, lets get back in the routine lol! I try not to think of back-to-school, to many bad memories than good lol, but I do remember the old days when it came to getting new school supplies! Dang it, I was hoping for Iron Will to be your PPOTM for September, my birthday month😭LOL just kidding🤣 YES, you must do more Bond reactions, I'm not Bonded out, my Bond is strong as ever LOL🤣 I want to see you and Carly watch all the remaining ones! As for War movies, hmm🤔the only ones that come to mind for my recommendations are: RED TAILS, U-571, RED DAWN, MEMPHIS BELLE, MIDWAY, PATTON, and SERGEANT YORK! All are great movies! August 19th, gotcha, while unfortunately I haven't any gifts this time to send you, I'm sorry, but I will be there, that's a promise! What's also a promise is that by Christmas this year when you do your next livestream and open gifts, I will have some things for you and Carly that I know you both will love! Love these cute pictures, nice Lion King reference with your kid, such a cute pic, love the scenery with the lake in the background, very breathtaking! It's always a joy to see you and Carly together and seeing you both happy and seeing your heart melting smiles lol! Saw your Gone In 60 Seconds full length last night, loved it! Have a great Monday, see you at the next reaction, you and Carly are the best and are angels, love and support, [virtual hug] God bless you both, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😇😁😉👍🙏🌹

I'm actually shocked that Kindergarten Cop took almost three years to get a watch. But I'm good with that, very wholesome movie. More Bond... I'm with the people who have been crying out for more variety lately. Watching more Bond would be the antithesis of that. As for the war movies, I would just knock out the big ones before doing another poll. Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter, Platoon. They've been long overdue imo. SD

Shehab Dawoud

I agree Twins or Kindergarden Cop are both excellent choices. For Bond you need to see Moonraker, JAWS with his stainless steel teeth gets to have his redeemption in this movie! From all reports the actor playing the part, now sadly deceased, was a really sweet guy who got type cast playing bad guys because of his physical stature. For Your Eyes Only would also be an excellent choice with the sound track by Sheena Easton.

Allen W. McDonnell

The French Connection would also be my first pick. Besides The Exorcist, Blue Chips is one I'd like to see, especially if she wants to do a Basketball movie which seems like a long shot.

Shehab Dawoud

People complain when you do a franchise you don't like, but in my opinion you have a good diversity in the movies you watch. If someone doesn't like Bond, there is still two other movies coming out that week for them. So just do a Bond movie once in while when you feel like it.

Pickupthepieces76

RIP Friedkin. I took a look at his IDMb page; his CV is ... not particularly uniform. I admit to not having seen The French Connection (1971) until recently; I am now an evangelizer. (That said, I'm not sure if the movie makes for a good reaction.) Wrapping up with Friedkin's greatest work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP0_8J7uxhs

Happy Hanukkah

I'm all for Kindergarten Cop. The Schwarzenegger/Ivan Reitman collaboration was a stroke of comedy genius. This, along with Twins and Junior are excellent. 😁

War / Military Movies “The Wild Geese” (1978) (only reviews, no reactions) – Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris. Mercenaries are hired to rescue an imprisoned African leader “Tears of the Sun” (2003) (only one reactor) – Bruce Willis, Monica Bellucci, Cole Hauser. RE: WMW. Maybe categorize them by decade? (ie. 1920s: Wings. 1930s: Hell's Angels or All Quiet on the Western Front. 1940s: The Sands of Iwo Jima. 1950s: Twelve O'Clock High or From Here to Eternity. 1960s: Lawrence of Arabia, The Alamo, The Longest Day, The Dirty Dozen. 1970s: A Bridge Too Far, Patton, MASH. 1980s: Platoon. 1990s: The Thin Red Line, Saving Private Ryan, etc.)

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

What great photos!

David

I'm guessing it's unlikely that Cassie will ever watch The Exorcist!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Please react to more Bond films, maybe one more Connery film (Dr No is where it all started), one more Moore film (Moonraker is hilarious!) and one more Brosnan film (The World is Not Enough is Brosnan's best after Goldeneye, and marks the final appearance of Desmond Llewellyn as Q!)

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I’d prefer The French Connection and, in October, The Exorcist.

Just Plain Bob

Creed 3 was awful. As for watching more of the older Bond movies, having seen the new ones should heighten the appreciation for the far superior older movies. After Casino Royale (which was excellent), the new Bond movies just weren’t up to snuff, particularly SPECTRE. Sorry, but building a worldwide criminal organization ‘cause daddy loved the other kid more is ABSURD, as was the millennial need to saddle the whole thing with a backstory and tie all the movies together into one convoluted, retconned story.

Just Plain Bob

I personally would love to see Cassie and Carly react to Moonraker (1979), I think that would be quite a reaction!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Agree wholeheartedly, I'm bonded out as well.

Stranger2Reality

As for as Kindergarten Cop goes I say Get to da Coppa!

Robert Jewell

Thanks, guys! I guessed the "War Movie" part. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what the second "W" was.

Miles E Coburn

another great Arnold comedy is Twins with Danny Devito

Adam Doyle

Kindergarten Cop, I can get behind that choice even though I prefer TWINS. I've been interested in a while to see your reaction to a different side of Arnie. 😀 Bond: personally, I would like to see two more reactions. To the very first one, DR NO (1962), and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981), which I consider to be Moore's best. Coincidentally, these have been the #3 on their respective polls. So, if you also add #3 from the Brosnan poll, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999), you might not even need a separate poll. 😉 But given the fast pace of the Bond reactions throughout the year, I think you could postpone this a few months to give space to something else increasing variety. For the WMW poll, two ideas, that won't be too hard to watch: WW2 movies (but excluding PoW movies) Top suggestions from PopcornRequests: PATTON (1970), KELLY'S HEROES (1970), U-571 (2000), MEMPHIS BELLE (1990), MIDWAY (2019), A BRIDGE TOO FAR (1977) Historical (pre-WW1) war movies Top suggestions from PopcornRequests: GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (2005) - the Director's Cut is a must watch, LINCOLN (2012), THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING (1975), ZULU (1964), SPARTACUS (1960)

Gábor Árki

I skip all the Bonds.

John Deardurff

I love this movie, would get my vote. Some of the best 80's vibe's ever!

Jon Johns

Oh, I see what you were going for now! Good one!

Mike LL

I like this idea! Traditional 'bowls' these films are placed by n are 'eras' like WWII, Vietnam, etc. But I prefer other categorizations, like POW, heist, post war, etc (but that might just be my preference for non combat movies *shrug*)

Jon Johns

I disagree re: more Bond movies, but I *strongly* agree re: Victoria, BC! The entirety of Vancouver Island is beautiful — Heck, all of British Columbia is beautiful! — but Victoria itself is such a picturesque city! I highly recommend it as a vacation destination! 👍👍

Phil Stubblefield

More Bond? Sure do a poll, but let that be it. As far as another war movie poll, you have a war movie to watch right away! 😂😂 When the Chaos Classics Bracket was posted last fall, you said you would watch the winner and the runner - up. You watched the winner, the POW war movie THE GREAT ESCAPE. But you never watched the runner-up. The POW war movie, THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI. I suspect that one reason it was never watched is because it was another long one, and you ended up watching like 5 war movies last November when you watched the winner. But THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI is a great movie, winner of Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director. It's a winner!

Mike LL

I was kind of bummed out that we didn't get a reaction to The World is Not Enough so I am all for keeping up with Bond!

William Skoglund

Would love to see Roger Moore be given another chance. He saved Bond. Without him, it all would've ended. So he deserves his better ones being watched. For Your Eyes Only (1981) Octopussy (1983) A View To a Kill (1985)

Rich Campbell

The great William Friedkin has just passed away. An extraordinary filmmaker. Might I suggest a screening of his great film To Live and Die in L.A. as a tribute?

Henry Graham

I’d love to see you do a few more Bonds. For ease you could just watch the third place movie in each of the three polls. That would mean, The World Is Not Enough (Brosnan), For Your Eyes Only (Moore) and Dr No (Connery). Watch them in reverse order, so you end your Bond journey where it all began.

James UK

Waterton, huh? I was going to guess Lake Louise, but that's only because my wife and I went to Banff for our honeymoon, and I've never been to any other Albertan lakes... 😃

Phil Stubblefield

Kelly's Hero's Clint Eastwood WMW!

R Harper

Waterton Lakes, I believe. Beautiful place, Been a long, long, time since I was there last Bond: Thunderball and For your Eyes Only. Best two you have not watched. WMW: 13 Hours and how about a non-war movie, war movie like: The Kings Speech, Darkest Hour, Patton (George C Scott was phenomenal as Patton) or even Downfall (Bruno Ganz was memorizing) . All movies about WW II but more of the historical side of the house and not the action side, per se. Glad to have you back in the Beehive State. My best to you and your family. PS: You know what I am going to say

Bill Maurer

Id be down for more Bond, but maybe Austin Powers next

Choof

War Movie Wednesday

Bill Maurer

War Movie Wednesday.

Mike LL

More of a Welcome Back and there's no place like home lol

Randolph Tirazona

I’m “Bonded out”, but if you want to do more, do more!

Cole Jennett

You only live twice is a great Connery bond film and as a kid I loved moonraker , bond goes to outer space Glad your doing kindergarten cop. A lighter side to Arnie , twins is a must as well Love the channel 👍

LDC7080

She watched that close to 2 years ago now on the channel. That reaction is up.

Mike LL

More Bond - the old Bonds would be a great improvement on the current moody humorless "serious" Craig interpretation of the character. Bring back the real James Bonds!

R Harper

Glad to have you back at home in the good old US of A! Hope you had a great vacay! What a week coming up! The latest Creed - the latest Bond - and WHHHAAATT? VERTIGO?!" Be still, my heart! VERTIGO is one of the movies I have most wanted you to watch on the channel, and that includes NbyNW! I was crushed last year when it came near the bottom of the Detective/Investigation Poll. And then I thought: "Well, what do I think Cassie will even get out of VERTIGO?" which helped me get over that devastating poll. But now that the movie is here, I can't wait for the reaction! And I don't have to keep silent on the movie's spoilers anymore, because Cassie said that she watched it last Saturday night! Yes, yes, the butler did it! I can finally talk about it! Oops, I forgot about all those of you who haven't seen it yet. Just forget about that part about the butler! Oops, sorry! 😎😜😏🙄

Mike LL

Beautiful mom🌹,beautiful family❤,beautiful lake!!..'Tora Tora Tora' 1970 is slow paced yet historically accurate account of Dec 7th 1941..'Thirty seconds over Tokyo' 1944 aka 'The Dolittle Raid' and Lt. John F. Kennedy & 'PT109'1962..all are true stories set in the Pacific theater of war..

Celeste McAllister

Welcome home Cassie! Looks like you had a great vacation. But as Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home!”. Great pics BTW! Especially the first one! “Nothing like a fresh bouquet of sharpened pencils and the smell of a new box of crayons.” Very poetic! 😀 I think Kindergarten Cop is a good choice! Looking forward to the upcoming week! Have a great day Cassie!

Robert da Spruce

Just get all the Bonds out of the way because there are folks that think ALL of them are great. Then we can put it to rest.

Bill W

What's "WMW"?

Miles E Coburn

The Wizard of Oz "There's no place like home!"

Randolph Tirazona

That's a beautiful area where you stayed. I've only been to Canada once. A place called Victoria on the West Coast. RE: Bond movies. No more Bond please. At least for awhile. Take a look at my list. They're infinitely more interesting.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

I'd love to see more Bond reactions!

Jeffster

I don't know if you need to categorize them, but maybe you could make a Patreon post soliciting suggestions so you can just have a big pot of war movies to draw from. I'm thinking about making sure you've got a nice range of possibilities. Something like Paths of Glory might not come up on lists of traditional war movies.

Tyler Foster

Pierce Brosnan’s ‘The World is Not Enough’ is great 👍🏻

trey stevenson

Welcome back! Love Waterton! Used to go there almost every summer with my family growing up!

Adam Hendry

I've been waiting to watch Creed 3 again just for this moment!

Joe Mallard

Welcome back !🤗
