Jeremiah Johnson (1972) - Full Reaction

"Jermiah Johnson made his way into the moutains"
This song has been stuck in my head haha. Well I'm not sure how to feel about this one. It was like one of those mountain youtube asmr videos almost, it was calming but also very sad and hurt my feelings. I read this was based on a true story? Wow!

Jeremiah Johnson (1972) - Full Reaction

Comments

That haunting final scene of the World Trade Center twin towers in the background - this film came out in 2005 and the Towers fell in 2001, so Steven Spielberg wanted to make a final point that the struggle of terrorism and justice is ongoing.

ButtercupsTrueLove

Great movie, classic. Other movies this reminds me of for some reason is Teh Revenant (W/ Leo and Tom Hardy, Leo won his only Oscar w/ this movie).

Ryan Towell

So good 😊

Snapjaw

No, I mean on her reaction video. It kept giving me ads every fifteen minutes. I watched the actual movie on my iTunes library.

"Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains, Bettin' on forgettin' all the troubles that he knew." Boy have I thought about doing just that a time or two. This was a Treat. Thank You Cass. I love the Spirit in this film. Even though horrible things happen, it still gives me what the Eagles call... a Peaceful Easy Feelin'. That's what Jeremiah Johnson is in search of, just like All of Us. He never stops searching, and neither will I, no matter how bad life can get. The Mountains, really does seem like the place to find It, too. Recommendations: Lost Horizon (1937) The Razor's Edge (1946) Continental Divide (1981) ---------------------------------- Also, the Composers for Jeremiah Johnson's Score, Tim McIntire and John Rubinstein, were not major film composers, but instead were Actors. Tim McIntire, who wrote the lyrics for and sang the Jeremiah Johnson Main Titles Theme, which became the "Narration" of the film, only had a handful of Composer credits, against his 49 Acting credits, before he sadly died at the young age of 41 in 1986. John Rubinstein, who composed and orchestrated such a beautiful score, which was really Half the Film in my opinion, also composed the score for some 30 films, TV movies, and TV shows, while mainly working as an Actor. He has to this day 227 Acting credits, a Primetime Emmy nomination for acting in 1978, and is still working. Cassie has posed the question before, "Which would you rather give up forever, Music or Movies?" Jeremiah Johnson proves this question can't be answered. There is No Movie Without Music. Recommendation: Brubaker (1980), starring Jeremiah Johnson alumni, Robert Redford, Tim McIntire and Matt Clark. As well as many more familiar faces from the PIB Alumni. Brubaker is directed by Stuart Rosenberg, who also directed another of the greatest Prison Films, Cool Hand Luke (1967), starring the other half of Butch and Sundance, Paul Newman. Brubaker is one of the most interesting and overlooked Prison films you'll ever see.

Well.. it´s time fore plan B. soon. 🙂 The non-english poll first. Then plan B 😊

Björn Karlsson

FYI Cassie..."watch your topknot" means to be careful that you don't get scalped.

Anthony Perez

you must have chosen the free movies wherever you got it from.

Anthony Perez

To be “touched” is short for “touched in the head.” In other words, crazy.

Brian Lowery

Am I the only one that got a bunch of ads in this video? Really threw me off.

Brian Lowery

lolololollolol, oh you sweet summer child. 🤣

rakesh

During the 60's and 70's a lot of film makers pushed for a stronger female character. They had to do the hard way. If you want to see how hard it was for women in film during that time, watch Katharine Ross' commentary on the DVD extras for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"

Allen Bond

Request in popcorn request and send some pm and hope for the best. I'm in the same situation since April last year with Show me love 🤪😬😆

Björn Karlsson

How do i make a carlie and cassie Avatar the Last Airbender reaction happen? Is there a dollar amount?

Eric Wallace

Born in Indiana and living in Minnesota now for 30+ years about April I'm always reminded of that last scene with Bear Claw, particularly this year when my Indiana relatives had leaves on the trees in late April and we were still under 3 feet of snow. Jeremiah Johnson: You wouldn't happen to know what month of the year it is? Bear Claw: Why no, I truly wouldn't. I'm sorry, pilgrim. Winter's a long time going? Jeremiah Johnson: [exhausted] Ah. Bear Claw: Stays long this high. Jeremiah Johnson: March. Maybe, April. Bear Claw: March maybe. I don't believe April. [rising to depart] March is a green muddy month down below, some folks like it, FARMERS mostly. You've done well to keep so much hair when so many's after it. I hope that you fare well.

CG Shunk

ok..gonna geek out here cause it's late and I am sleepy but still online. Did anyone notice that the rifle the Crow on horseback, the first one Johnson meets, is a dual caliber rifle ? Cool detail and very practical to have a shotgun/rifle combo. Also when Dell and Johnson are first entering the village of apparently Catholics...there is a large Crucifix with Christ made out of reeds. Very cool details to put in a movie.

Anthony Perez

She has a reaction to The Last of the Mohicans on the channel.

Tim Raths

My personal favorite movie, The intro music always puts a smile on my face. If you've never seen it The Last of the Mohicans is another fantastic period movie set during the French & Indian war with Daniel Day Lewis.

Josh B

Thank you. I love movies and I love sharing them with others

"I don't know." "I liked Robert Redford." ...one of my Redford favs! But Cassie mentioning: BC&SK, The Sting, The Natural are all great movies and wonderful PiB reacts... but I'm curious...? You say you and Carly grew up on romantic chick-flicks... why have you never mentioned The GREATEST ROMANTIC CHICK-FLICK OF ALL-TIME? "The Way We Were" with Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford? It's So ICONIC, it's crazy that you don't mention it when recalling Robert Redford movies!?! It's impossible for you to have missed 'The Way We Were... Right?!?

Terry Yelmene

All very good movie recommendations.

Rick Williams

Terrific movie. I just watched it again recently myself.

Stick Figure Studios

I like Tom Selleck (always have), but he's no Redford.

From director Sydney Pollack (who would later go on to do the remake of SABRINA and THE FIRM with Tom Cruise), this is a marvelous, visually gorgeous frontier wilderness survival story rich with atmosphere and character. Robert Redford is superb as he carries the entire film (he is in every scene and often doesn't have dialogue). A sad but powerful story. I can't wait to watch your reaction to this. Some other titles you might consider: the film your aunt and uncles recommended (ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN) with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, another Sydney Pollack movie with Redford called 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR (a spy thriller), a delightful heist film Redford did called SNEAKERS, another survival story (this time on the ocean) with Redford called ALL IS LOST and, of course, the movie he acted in with Brad Pitt called SPY GAME (if you want to see the movie he directed Brad Pitt in, check out A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT).

Stick Figure Studios

I remembered the title and seeing it at the theater, but couldn't remember what it was about till reading about it... :)

Randolph Tirazona

Alberta: great wings, not so great internet.

JC762

I have seen this movie in a while and I can’t remember the man’s name but the best caricature in the hole movie is the old mountain man that gets chased by the bear. When I’m old I want to be him. Who is with me?

Davis

Little Big Man starring Dustin Hoffman would be a good anti western western

zynjams

I think you would enjoy three days of the condor with Robert Redford. Same director as well. It’s a Cold War spy thriller

Night King01

Cassie recognized THE MEME!! Haha! Fantastic! EDIT: "The Indians won't bother you now because you're touched." Touched = Cray (to use one of your words) Example: "He's a little touched in the head."

Philip Alan

I first saw this movie as a youngin on TV. It made a hell of an impression on me. Sad story. But, it a true story. Good movie. Great reaction Cassie. I knew it would be hard on you. But, it a good you saw it. One of Robert Redford's many good movies. You would like, The Horse Whisperer. And another good Redford movie you should is, An Unfinished Life with Morgan Freeman. Both good movies that I think you and Carly would like. They are Carly safe.

Rick Williams

As others have said this is based on the life of Liver Eating Johnson, a Mountain Man who gained some notoriety for his one man war against the Crow tribe, for the killing of his wife and child. Whether he actually ate the livers of the Crow warriors he defeated is still a matter of debate. Some are of the opinion he did it because the Crow believe you can't go to after-life without your liver. Others are of the opinion he made it up to bolster his reputation. Regardless Johnson earned a reputation among the Crow, who gave him the name Crow Killer. Eventually Johnson made his peace with the Crow after 25 years of fighting them. They made him an honorary Chieftain. He ended up being an Honorary Chieftain of the Salish tribe (his dead wife was a member) and the Shoshone. He served as an Army Scout for a number of years, both in the Civil War and the Sioux Wars, he was also said to have lead a retaliatory raid against the Nez Perce made up of Mountain Men, Crow and Salish warriors. He eventually retired and became Town Marshal of the town of Red Lodge Montana in the 1880s. After his career as a lawman ended, he moved to a Veterans' home in Santa Monica where he died in 1900.

Phillip Ribbink

Classic in slow motion. No hurry to make a point just let’s the story roll.

Blindsquirrel

love this movie

zynjams

Don't eat wings, vegan. You should go to Lake Okanagan, In British Columbia awesome place tons of things to do there. My friend lives in Magic Estates right on the water.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Loved it when Cassie experienced a moment of clarity as she realized that she had just seen the source of one of the more famous memes in internet history!

Brian

This is a blast from the past! My dad loved this movie!

Neill Shaughness

That's hilarious. I just watched The Big Country yesterday. That's why I was thinking about Gregory Peck. Burl Ives gives an amazing performance also. Definitely a movie for the list

Roger Freeman

Roger Freeman

If you’re crushing on Robert Redford just wait until you find out about Tom Selleck, need to watch Quigley Down Under!

Sawyer Wick

First time hearing about this movie, let alone seeing it. It was a very enjoyable film though.

Yaisu

Yay! More Robert Redford. Watching now... Edit: Cassie, during the outro you mentioned an escape for the boy and the woman. It was a brief time, but they were a happy little family. This movie takes place in the 1830's and that is what life was like back then. This movie was made 49 years ago! Now please listen to your Aunt and Uncle and watch All The President's Men with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman. Another movie based on real people and events.

Tara

In my personal top 10 films. Looking forward to watching this later on.

Matt Rose

Movie with the greatest "Gif" of all time

Bill Maurer

I think a great movie, one of those really grand westerns with an honorable man that wins the girl is The Big Country with Gregory Peck & Charlton Heston and an all-star cast (for that era lol). I know Cassie would love it :)

3dbadboy1

Tbh I’ve never heard of it but I’m not really a fan of Robert Redford, just watched the trailer and it doesn’t look like my kinda thing. But I hope people that are a fan liked the watch a long.

Dean Holt

Love this movie. Enjoyed watching it with you. That song always gets stuck in my head. The more you kill the bigger your legend grows so the bigger the fame for the man who kills you. Never ends. Same thing happens to gun fighters. There's a great Gregory Peck movie called The Gunfighter about that theme. Worth watching

Roger Freeman

Love this movie! However, it did leave out a big part of his real life. He is known throughout history as Liver-eating Johnson. He got the nickname because he ate the livers of all the Crow warriors that tried to kill him. I imagine that that part of his life was omitted in the movie for the sake of ratings.

Robert Nelson

My dad used to quote this movie all the time, he finally told me what he was quoting and this is now one of my favorites too. Our dad's have good taste in movies/stories for sure lol. It's weird to watch, knowing how it ends, I still love the first two acts but then you get to the scene where it's like, "they're too happy, something bad has to happen now," and it does, they turn him into the Punisher. The story is tragic, but I still love the character and the premise at least, I'd love to live in a log cabin like that in the Rockies, that or I'd love the sailboat from Romancing the Stone.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

"Watch your top knot" = "Don't get scalped."

Brent Petty

Been reading a lot lately. Just finished "Neptune's Inferno," about the naval battles around Guadalcanal in WW2. Excellent.

Brent Petty

Because of this movie, Allyn Anne McLerie is one of my favorite actors. She gives a whole paragraph of dialogue in just one look.

Ben Livingstone

Really hope you do Legend soon.. You'll almost certainly love it.

Godzilla Jones

WHAAAAAAAAT!? Nice. Can't wait to watch this. Thank you, even if you don't know how to feel about it, I'm happy you watched it.

Godzilla Jones

Cassie when you watch a period pie e, you need to understand that period isnt now. At times you feel like you are hurt by there words or actions and forget when these movies were going on. It's a quirk of yours. Westerns are tough, it was a tough life for these men and women. And to survive you had to do what was needed. If being a horrible person helped you live longer than horrible I will be. Look at unforgiven. Clint Eastwoods character William Money was a horrible horrible man but in the situation of the movie you felt for him. Love watching movies with you. Your the best. Don't change. God bless and cheers. Can't wait for next Leathal Weapon movie and the finale of James Bond.

Jimmy Reyes

"The Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the World".. Circa 1847 JJ is based on the mountain man legendary figures in general like Kit Carson & Jim Bridger, been waiting for this for a hot minute, what I loved most was the reverence for the land and the respect towards the Crow nation the native tribes of the Rockies. ..thanks Cassie🌹👍👍
