Cassie, it is not Awwties, it is Aughties! Double Aught Buckshot for your shotgun is 00 size pellets. At the turn of the 20th century most people referred to the year as Nineteen Aught One through Nineteen Aught Nine, everyone was familiar with firearms and understood. By the time we turned to the 21st century apparently a lot of younger people like yourself were no longer used to the term 'Aught' meaning zero!

3:00 "They called the 80s the eighties, the 90s the nineties and the 2000s...." Well, in the UK we refer to the 2000s as the noughties.

re: A Scanner Darkly I didn't know this existed! Great cast too.

Don't know about the algorithm, but it is definitely a beautiful story, one that needs to be experienced! And on top of that - "Amy" is a Canuck!!! Or kind-of; half-Canuck! Besides PiB is a Canuck Too so if she and Carly haven't seen it they NEED TO! Its a Rule of the Universe! LOL

I would love this. I've actually requested this before from another reactor, but with no luck. It's a shame that so many quality movies aren't even considered within the reaction community due to the fact that they're not pleasing to the Youtube algorithm.

Big B5 fan. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Philip K. Dick. As I recently mentioned elsewhere, A Scanner Darkly has been on my watch list since it was released. I've read the book and appreciated it, but in my mind, it's almost more of a setup for Dick's very affecting author's postscript.

I assume you've watched Babylon5 where he was a creative consultant? Best science fiction story on tv. There are few uplifting sci-fi movies. My favorite is The Martian. When I need a boost, and need to feel more positive about humanity, this is the movie that I watch. As for reading, I found Project Hail Mary (audiobook) uplifting, and even comedic at times.

Kristin D

Science fiction mostly presenting bleak futures? Poppycock! Whenever I'm feeling down, I cheer myself up by reading about the wonderful worlds of tomorrow, principally in the works of Harlan Ellison. :-P

Happy Hanukkah

I definitely think it’s real.

I have to admit, this was fun! Glad I was able to tune in during my break at work today! Ugh, work has just been killing me lately, I recently went through a somewhat depressing moment in my life, but thanks to you Cassie on Saturday, you were able to snap me out of my depression, just goes to show how much of an angel you are lol! Thank you so much [virtual hug] lol! Thanks for a fun day during this reaction! Safe travels back home, can't wait for the MI7 vlog this week, really looking forward to it! Love and support, you (and Carly) are the best, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍🌹

But it did happen as the pre-cog predicted. Since the precog doesn't see what might happen, they only see what actually happens. Even at the end when Lamar kills himself the precogs see a murder, but since Lamar knows his fate he changed the outcome of who got murdered. So someone still got murdered. The precogs had the crime locked down, but Lamar changed the ending before they could predict it. I think pre-crime should have continued. But that's just my opinion. Even today with DNA crimes still end up with the wrong person being accused. So no system is infallible.

Hey Cassie, I knew "Minority Report" would hit you like a ton of bricks, especially the child abduction backstory. It rips my heart out every time know that a situation like that could have happened to my daughter. The scene in the bedroom with Leo Crow would have driven me insane and ultimately to murder. I feel Jon Anderton's pain when he read the Miranda rights to Leo Crow. It took every ounce of control to make that happen. Such a great movie, with great moral conundrums.

KevG

You're assuming Tom isn't still watching the channel. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bryan Fritchie

I just want to know if you would have asked if something was a "paradox" 2-3 years ago? 😂 Love this movie, but it also has a couple of the grossest scenes. A nearly puke at that sandwich scene every single time. 🤮

Bryan Fritchie

Haven't watched this since it came out, so correct me if I'm wrong on this, but if he doesn't put himself in that room (which I'd like to think is what I would've done), or he puts himself there without the gun or without bullets, then the murder doesn't happen and the system is proved fallible and questions start being asked?

Richard Mouritzen

Glad Ben is doing better.

Stuart Guthrie

There's still so many more Tom Cruise movies she hasn't seen....that I'm willing to bet will make it on the channel.

Bill W

Peter Stormare is so great at creepy characters.

Bill W

Could Bill and Ted be considered a "happy future" movie even though they only show a few minutes in the future? It's the only one I can think of.

Mike Lemon

The next Poppies will probably be sooner. Maybe he could introduce "The best Tom Cruise reaction" award?

Mike Lemon

You'll have to mention this to Tom next year at his next premiere.

David

So…the ending may not be as happy as you think. Remember what the prison guards guy says “that all your dreams come true” when you are halo’d and in that futuristic holding cell. So everything after you see John go in that prison tube thing…is happening in his head. All he dreams come true. He solves the crime, gets back with his Wife, they have another child. Or maybe it’s real?

Stan the Man

I don't think I've ever seen you more absorbed in a movie, Cassie! This is now one of my favorite PIB reactions!

David Woodbridge

Most science fiction represents a fear of change or a fear of the future. That's why so many of them are bleak. The most notable exception is the Star Trek franchise. That's meant to be an optimistic glimpse at humanity's potential.

Neill Shaughness

Im VERY excited to see your reaction to the "eyes" scene. I found it more than unsettling.

Sean

Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell, or rather Les Grossman and Bobby Pellit square off
