OOOOHHHH MYYYYYY I love these guys to death. This series is just so. much. fun, how many more do I get to watch? Will they please make more? This one was a little different because their bestie status is already so established so their dynamic was so "them". Ok enough gushing, just watch with me, it'll make you happy!

Spielberg's Jaws two references: Riggs and Lorna compare wounds (as Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw in the boat) and mother slups Danny Glover at funeral (as it happened in jaws with Roy Scheider)

4 is good, I think some people didn't like it cause, they're old and it's about how they're now getting to "old for this...." But it's still got that magic the other 3 have as well. And everyone returns which makes it even better

Great reaction, I’ve been waiting on you to see this one! I my think my favourite is 3, but I love them all including lethal weapon 4, yeah the storyline isn’t quite up there but it’s still great entertainment. It’s during the height of the early 00s martial arts action movies like The One, kiss the dragon, Romeo must die.

Finally got to watch this reaction. I of course had to rewatch 1 and 2 (along with your reactions) beforehand. I love these movies and these characters, and I'm so happy you to do. I can't wait for your reaction to 4, which I know you'll love too. Good news, there is a Lethal Weapon 5 in the works, but its in pre-productions so there's a bit of a wait.

What I'm noticing in the comments is that for a lot of the people who love 4, it sounds like it was their first LW movie. That makes sense. We always favor our introduction to a series/group of characters (I know people whose favorite Indiana Jones film is KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL because it was their first). This isn't a hard and fast rule, of course (I'm just speaking in generalities) but for those of us who loved LW from the first one and watched as they got "softer," "safer" and more comedic as they went on, the 4th one feels almost like a pale imitation of a LETHAL WEAPON film, a point where the series had reached self parody. Now that's just my opinion of course. You may love it, Cassie (in fact, I suspect you will) and I would never advise anyone not to see it, only to lower their expectations... except where the villain is concerned. As has been mentioned before, Jet Li is phenomenal in the film (superlatives don't really do him Justice). He practically walks off without film single-handed.

Forgot: Favorite Lethal Weapons in order. For me, its 1-4-2-3. I judge them by emotional heft (is that a word?) to counter the action and silliness.
1. Riggs is lost, but finds a family.
4. [No Spoilers]
2. Riggs' gold pen. Leo finds a family.
3. Murtaugh wants to retire, but won't because his buddy isn't ready.

@Katie That's how PiB is uploading the content, they have a second channel that is @pibpatreonexclusivecontent6426 but all of the videos are private videos (you have to have the link to watch them). If you click on the channel it says "This channel doesn't have any content", so the exclusive videos aren't searchable on youtube and the only place you can get the links to watch them is the exclusive Patreon posts 🙂

Cassie please don’t listen to the hate around number 4. It is the only one I was old enough to see in the theater when I was in high school and it is my favorite out of the series. Everyone has their own opinions on movies and that’s fine. But you definitely need to watch 4 to wrap up the franchise. Plus you will love it. It has everything that makes you happy in one movie. Glad you enjoyed this franchise so much and hope you will move on to the bad boys franchise with will smith. Great action packed and hilarious movies. I knew you would love the lethal weapon movies. Another great lesson on not judging a movie by its name alone. I know you thought you wouldn’t like these films and turned out you loved them. Glad you’re open minded enough to give movies a chance even when you think you won’t like that at all. Can’t wait to see what else is coming for the rest of the summer.

Your love for the boys and Leo brings me so much joy. Especially when you really get tickled by little nuggets like "*cough cough* this is what they do when they die, I swear". Every part of watching this with you was a blast and don't worry, #4 just leans even more into the comedy and family tenderness. You will love it.

This line gets me every time! (Murtaugh is not retiring because his friend still needs him and wants to stay in his life). The friendship between these two - and those serious discussions! - is why Lethal Weapon remains at the top of my Buddy Cop short list.
Love watching this reaction.

I have to comment on one scene is this movie which is complete BS. Remember Danny Glover's character carried a Smith and Wesson revolver, but here changes to a Smith and Wesson 5906 9mm and almost shoots his foot in the locker room... the hammer was NOT COCKED so he would have had to fully pull the trigger in double action mode which there is no way he would do by accident, I've rewatched this several times, and this crap. FU anti-gun Hollywood.

I skimmed the comments expecting a bit of contention around number 4 and I get why people don't like it. I will be the first to admit it isn't the best in the series but with that being said it is my favorite. The great thing about this series is the real character arc of Riggs(mostly) as well as everyone else culminating in an amazing conclusion that always gets me emotional. For that reason, and just a really nice sense of closure I hope Cassie finishes off the series with 4.

@Gabor: I have a similar issue with the Indiana Jones films where each new adventure adds another character for Indy to keep track of. In RAIDERS he had one, in TEMPLE OF DOOM he had two, in LAST CRUSADE he had three and in CRYSTAL SKULL he had four. I wouldn't mind more characters if they actually gave them something to do, but most of the time they're just... there. I'm at least glad that for the 5th and final one, they went back to just a single companion to accompany.

Yeah, that "idiot" would be me. I love the first 2 and like the third one, but by the fourth one I think most of the magic is gone and the series has essentially become a parody of itself: a sitcom with some stunts. Jet Li is the only thing that makes that film at all noteworthy (whenever he's on screen, the movie jumps up a couple notches). Having said all of that, however, just because it's the weakest of the franchise does not mean that Cassie won't enjoy it (I think she will). I would never counsel someone not to watch it, just to lower their expectations.

It always makes me happy. But watching my childhood favorite Lethal Weapon 3 with you? Ecstatic!! I figured you would like the series more and more as it continues because the films become less dark and more just great popcorn buddy cop movies. I swear I think I like all of the Lethal Weapon's equally, some are just more serious and the later ones are more comedy. But all gold. They are in fact working on Lethal Weapon 5 and the story as to why it's getting made is actually quite touching. Look up Mel Gibson interviews talking about it if you want to know more. Ok now it's movie time, I might even make some popcorn for this occasion. BTW, popcorn with melted butter and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Thank me later.

Maverick (1994), also directed by Richard Donner, was 2 years after this, so it might be cool to go back and ReWatch the cameo with Danny Glover in order to experience that moment the way Everyone else did.
(And, the other 2 Bank Robbers with Danny Glover, were singer-songwriter Hal Ketchum and Goonie Corey Feldman)
Also, chronologically, before Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), 2 other films were released that would be a great watch…
Ransom (1996), directed by Ron Howard, starring Mel Gibson & Rene Russo.
Conspiracy Theory (1997), directed by Richard Donner, starring Mel Gibson & Julia Roberts.

Loved this reaction. This is going to join the few of my favorites where I'm going to rewatch the full one. I was happy to see Cassie enjoy Lorna's character and the romance between her and Riggs. And I'm sure she is glad they didn't kill her at the end of the movie. 🙂
My ranking of the movies is 2, 1, 3, 4. But they are all amazing and I adore the whole franchise. It's incomparable to anything else I've ever seen. The way they blend different genres, the drama, action, comedy with so many touching and emotional moments is truly unique. I can't wait to see the reaction to the 4th movie, I hope we won't have to wait too long. 😉

To be honest, MI2 & 3 are just Hollywood $ making at work with really crappy script, directing and acting.

I know some people don't like Lethal Weapon 4, but I think it's a lot of fun and I never really understood why it's so disliked. Cassie, I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit. It's got a great mix of action, comedy and heart. Is it predictable at times? Absolutely. But even classic movie tropes are fun to watch when they're done well.

The reason you watch Lethal Weapon 4 is these characters. 4 is my least favorite of the series, but I still enjoy it because this cast is magic and that doesn't stop. One of the strengths of this series is that the introduce new characters and they actually stick around for future installments. I love that. 4 also has Jet Li and he's an amazing martial artist - a true legend of action cinema.

As I recall from a Joe Pesci interview, the OK OK OK thing came from a server at Disney World he experienced, so he used that as a thing. It is funny and memorable. It is amazing how scary a character Pesci plays in Goodfellas and Casino. Also, the origins of "OK" is disputed and interesting. It is O,K, not okay, and most likely from the early 1830s where telegraph users, using morse code of course, had this joke about using some gross misspellings. O.K. was a quick way to confirm the message received was "All Correct" ... Paul Harvey even did a bit on this. OK?

This is the magic of 80's & 90's movies. Lethal Weapon 3 was considered the weakest of the franchise, yet it managed to still deliver everything we love: Action, laughs, tender moments, further character development.
I promise you won't be disappointed when you get around to watching Lethal Weapon 4. 😁
Lethal Weapon 5 is coming with Mel Gibson and "Donald Glover" (you know who I mean 😉😁). Mel is directing it himself cause Richard Donner passed away in 2021. I like the odds that it'll be great.

Thanks for updating us and so happy to hear Ben is recovering and is out of hospital.
So glad you like these movies I just know you will love the Beverly Hills Cop films and Bad Boys if you haven’t seen them already. But LW is one of those rare franchises I love all of them and it’s difficult to put into an order and there is also a number five on the way. But just an idea as I’m watching it on a Friday, like your War Wednesdays you could have Fun Fridays and watch a Action comedy or just a comedy film and release it on a Friday.
Another thing and you may not want to do a reaction to it but Donald Glover (sorry Danny 😂😂) and Joe Pesci where in a comedy called Gone Fishing it’s a bit of a cheesy comedy and it didn’t really do very well but I quite like it. But as I’ve said it might be one for you just to watch without a reaction video as it probably wouldn’t get may views on YouTube.
Also one last thing I’m sure people have mentioned the bank robber scene in Maverick
Now you’ve seen 3 of the Lethal Weapon films you will probably get the little joke.

I think Jeffrey Boam said that everyone had a different idea what made the first two work (apart from the chemistry between Riggs and Murtaugh) and agenda how to make this sequel. So in a way it is surprising that it turned out to be such an enjoyable entry regardless. 😄 I don't mind the more comedic take but understand what you are referring to. I really enjoy though that they have been bringing back so many people from movie to movie. Not just in the main cast, but in suporting roles too. Feels like an always extending family. Although Chris Rock is my least favorite addition as well.

You will love #4. It isn't as dramatic as the earlier films, but it feels like a great family reunion, also, it has some of the best action sequences of the whole franchise.

First and foremost, you're so welcome Cassie! Again I'm so relieved and happy that Ben is doing well, if I may compliment, he's very lucky to have you and your love😁 And we fans/patrons/subscribers love and support y'all with all our hearts! Donald Glover? LOL🤣 it's Danny Glover, you're killing me Cassie (Sandlot pun) lol! This was really fun to watch, I enjoyed your reaction immensly as always, it's been a long time since I've seen the 3rd one, so I don't really remember much of it, this was totally worth staying up till 3am lol! And OMG Cassie, you missed a really funny after credits scene, another building blew up and they freak out, only difference is they never went inside to investigate, and The Three Stooges theme played, I'm laughing hysterically as I'm typing this LOL🤣 Speaking of which Cassie, if you noticed that scene when Mel Gibson was fooling around on Rene Russo's computer, and it showed apparently a Three Stooges theme game! Well, there's a small example for you, even in the first two Lethal Weapons you see Mel Gibson watching them and referencing them, case and point: the first movie, when he busts those drug dealers at that Christmas Tree lot, when he does the Curly face raffle and eye pokes and slaps the dealers, that's Stooges, so hilarious! Or in the second movie, when he confronts the bad guys in their office and he's about to shoot the fish tank, he says "Eenie, Meenie, Miney.... Hey Moe" that's a reference! And in this when he's eye poking that jerk director that was pushing him, that's also Stooges lol! A little fun fact, Mel Gibson in real life is a huge Three Stooges fan, he even produced a made for TV bio pic about the lives of the Three Stooges, I've seen it, it's okay! But watching the classic shorts is where it's at, you've got to react to them Cassie, I'm sure you (and Carly possibly) will get a good laugh because believe me, they're the perfect cure after a long stressful day! If you and Carly see the clip I emailed you, you'll get a small sample and my idea for a voting poll! Anyway, once again, great reaction Cassie, glad you had fun, yes watch the 4th one, it's pretty good! I'm happy and relieved Ben is okay, you're the best and the sweetest, love and support always, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍🌹

Great reaction! I just wished you caught the very end after the credits lol there’s one last funny bit where Riggs and Murtaugh pull up to another building that reportedly has another another bomb in it lol and right when they park, the building just explodes and they immediately try to leave before anyone sees them and they both say in unison as it cuts to black “I’m too old for this sh*t!” 😂😂😂

@Andrew: the fourth one has its moments (especially anything involving Jet Li; like a lot of Americans at the time, LW4 was my introduction to him and he elevates the movie at least a couple notches everytime he's onscreen), but it feels like a sitcom by that point.. Also, the inclusion of Chris Rock (whom I normally like) just seems like a little too much. Each movie adds a new character to the gang and by 4 it's becoming a crowd control issue. Even the poster looks cluttered.

@Gabor: Yeah, that boat scene is the heart of the film. As I said, I do like this one, but it's clearly becoming more of a "comedy with action" series rather than an "action with some comedy" by this point. Also, the action itself is getting a bit sloppier with the ever prevalent technique of too much frantic cutting (this one was not edited by the great Stuart Baird who did the first two and knows how to make an action scene fast and thrilling but still comprehensible) and too tightly framed shaky-cam shots. A definite drawback to many 90s action flicks

LW 4 is good. Not as good as the first 3, but still well worth reacting to.

I actually liked 4 because it had Jet Li, who at the time was in a bunch of Hollywood movies at the time. But I guess by that time you get a little bit of a dip past a trilogy. Not many films that make a good trilogy and fewer still that make great movies beyond the initial 3. Cassie, Guess this scene from maverick has a different resonance for you now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgRb7ALCwJ0

I liked all four of the lethal weapon installments. I don't think I can pick one over another, and that includes number 4. But I'm no cinephile either.. I just enjoy what I enjoy I guess.

The story is weaker, but apparently the writing of this entry was a real sh*tshow. I still love it (and even the 4th), because they still managed to capture the essence of what makes this franchise so great. I also love the addition of Russo and really glad they haven't gone with another idea, to hook up Riggs with Rianne. I think it was Donner who vetoed this.
My favorite moment is probably the boat scene: "You're the only family I've got! I've got three beautiful kids, I love them, they're yours."

Though not as good as the first two, I do really like this one (and it's still better than the fourth). It was the first LETHAL WEAPON movie I saw in the theater and I was not only blown away by the spectacular action but I was really struck by the film's heart. As you point out, their dynamic is so well-established by this point that the emotional scenes between them feel so effortless (I am pretty sure that this was the first movie I ever saw where one man told another man "I love you" and that had a big impact on me as an adolescent). The addition of Rene Russo to the gang was also a nice move I thought. I can't wait to see this reaction, but I'm sure you'll like it. I do hope you watched it all the way through to the very, very end of the closing credits. :-)

I am facing a dilemma. Do I go watch MI7 tonight as planned, or do I stay home and watch the long awaited LW3 reaction?
Okay-okay-okay! Not that hard choice after all, LW3 it is. 😃
There is a 4th one, and without even hinting anything why, I just can't wait to see your reaction to that. There is a 5th in the making, but I'm somewhat weary. Hollywood doesn't have a good track record resurrecting these old franchises.
Cassie, it seems you might have missed it, but this one had a fun little post credit scene: https://youtu.be/79i-dO8K0Cg

I actually really liked the 4th movie. Most people prefer the grittiness of the first one but, I prefer the 4th where we know all the characters and they feel more like good friends at that point. Also like new character introduced in 4. The chemistry is great between everyone.
