They are carnivorous, highly intelligent, adept ambush predators, can run down a human, and have definitely eaten a lot of people. It was discovered relatively recently that their bite is venomous, as well as being loaded with nasty bacteria nearly guaranteed to cause bites to quickly become septicemically infected even if the prey does manage to get loose and run away, leading to sepsis shutting down the major organs. The lizard just follows them and waits for them to collapse.
Also, in Australia (of course!) there was a now-extinct relative, the megalania, that current science estimates grew up to about 23 feet (about 7 meters) from nose to to tip of tail and could weigh up to about 1,200 pounds, or roughly 600 kilograms. They died out recently enough that the first humans to reach Australia may have crossed paths with these beauties.

Skyfall was the same time as the London Olympics. Cassie, did you see the James Bond bit at the opening ceremony? https://youtu.be/1AS-dCdYZbo?t=46

At some point in the past, I thought that Ralph Fiennes had aged significantly since Shakespeare in Love. π Makes me wonder if I ever thought that the SiL fellow was the same as the English Patient one. π

@09:00 Cassie rolls through Ralph Fiennes Credits: I thought Cassie has mistaken Ralph Fiennes for Liam Nelson in Schindler's List, then I'd forgotten he actually was in Schindler's List! Nice one Cassie. You're like a total pro at this!

I hope you noticed that the end of this film ties back to the prior movies, especially the 60's Office. Ralph Finnes really captured the spirit of the Original M, I thought. I'm curious to know what you think of the next one "Spectre".

The thing that is bugging me to no end is that the full commentaries have been "coming soon" forever now.
Now the YT edits are releasing before the full commentaries are..

He's just like that man they call Georgie Puddin' Pie
He sleeps with the girls and then they die.
Daniel Craig got the Bond part on the strength of his standout performance in the superb βLayer Cake.β Highly recommend a watch/reaction.

Once you two get through all of Daniel Craig's Bond movies, you'll definitely want to check out Knives Out and Glass Onion (the sequel). Such fun!

SKYFALL had some great homages back to the original SC Bond, Goldfinger in particular, esp. with the DB5 playing a major role and the return of the classic music at times. Javier Bardem as former agent Silva is terrifying. While portions of his master plan seemed too complex and perfect to work, it was impressive. I am going to agree the SPECTRE was a let down from this movie.

Javier Bardem is always great as the villain. His performance in "No country for old men" is chilling.

I know I'm in the minority, but I do not like "Skyfall." The whole "James Bond is too old" idea makes no sense when Daniel Craig's Bond just started being 007 in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace." Obviously, the filmmakers intend this idea to be taken on a meta-level. "James Bond is too old" actually means "the Bond franchise is too old." It needs to be rejuvenated, and "Skyfall" is intended to be that rejuvenation. I find this kind of meta-filmmaking extremely tiresome. Watching "Skyfall," my suspension of disbelief never kicked in because I was distracted by the constant franchise management. I hate it when movies are primarily about setting up future films, and I think "Skyfall" is a prime example of this.

Great job, kind of torn on what fellows Skyfall. Spectre was a bit of a disappointment (who turns down Monica Belluci for Lea Seydoux?) I believe they should have ended Craig's run there. But Skyfall turned out to be the biggest box office movie in Bond history.
Looking forward to your NYC trip report video.
PS: "The Searchers".

This was the first Bond movie I saw in theaters. Itβs honestly one of the best films in the whole series. Javier Bardem as Silva is easily one of my favorite villains in the franchise. 10/10 for me.
