"Let the sky fall
We will stand tall
At Skyfall
Ooh"
This was my fav Bond song so far, not Adele's best song, but I did recognize her voice and loved the familiarity, probably the same way you guys feel with other artists you had known before you heard their song! I really, really liked this one. Seeing J and mums relationship evolve was so tender and you know I love a backstory. Also, Javier Bardem had no business being that creepy as a villain!!! Hope you enjoy!

I will try not to fall asleep again for Spectre.

Sorry, my comment go split in two. Even though I have great respect for Albert Finney, having Connery and Craig fighting side by side 50 years after the original would have been one of the greatest cinematic moments of all time. The story didn't say why it never came to fruition,

First time "joining the conversation." I haven't read all of the Skyfall comments so I don't know if anything like this has been mentioned,. When the movie first came out 11 years ago, I read somewhere that the studio was trying to get Sean Connery to play the role of the caretaker that eventually went to Albert Finney/

If you’re New here, just so you know, You shouldn’t read the Comments Section of the Reaction, until You’ve Seen the Film or Reaction. The Spoiler Free Zone is in the Upcoming or Poll Posts, which are usually posted Before Cassie has Seen the Films. If Cassie has posted Her Reaction, then She has definitely Seen the Film. Cassie and Carly are the only ones Most of Us are Afraid of Spoiling things for.
Also, Nothings Formal here. I Like My Caps.
I would’ve capitalized “They” instead of “are,” but that’s just me. I’m Not Judging. :-)

In this Film, the Old James Bond and his Past is destroyed, such as his Childhood Home, Judi Dench's M dying, the Original Aston Martin blowing up, and even Bond himself "dying" in the beginning. The Government was also trying to End the Double O program.
While at the same time, James Bond is Starting Over and returning to His Roots, such as having a Male M again, behind a Buttoned Leather Door (not seen since A View to a Kill), with Moneypenny at her desk on the outside of it. James Bond flirts with Moneypenny before entering M's office, where M will give Bond his Mission. Q is even back on the Team and arms James Bond with only a Gun and Radio. This is similar to Dr. No when Bond was only given a Gun.
The Old James Bond is Destroyed and Resurrected in the same Film.
By the Way... James Bond and Moneypenny Never "Hooked Up." Never in any Version of James Bond. Thinking otherwise is only Wishful. That is Not their Relationship. Moneypenny and James Bond playfully Flirt with one another, and that is it. James Bond thinks too highly of Moneypenny to "hook up" and then Leave her Alone. They both know there is a Mutual Attraction and that they could have something Big Together, but they also have too much Respect for each other to ever try to start something.
James Bond and Moneypenny are just the Best of Friends, who like to Flirtatiously push each other's Special Soft Intimate Buttons.

I wouldn’t call Kincade a main character he definitely supporting cast, but A Good Year is one excellent movie. It’s a real sleeper classic that I keep coming back to over and over! Albert Finney is a national treasure alongside Dame Judi. He has an incredible catalogue of movies and stage performances!

This my favorite Bond-there is so much focus on character and story and they finally made use of having Judi Dench in the cast. When I saw this in the theater everyone gasped “oh no!” When they blew up the Aston Martin and you could hear sniffles when M died. Interesting story-before this film came out, I was in the UK for work for a couple of months and I went down to Beaulieu where they have a big car museum and they were hosting a 50 years of Bond exhibit at the time. They had a lot of vehicles from all the James Bond films including Goldfingers Rolls Royce and the Original Aston from the films. It was very cool to get to see.
I think if Maid in Manhattan is the first place your mind is going when you see Ralph Finnes, we should add some more of his films to your watchlist-I saw him onstage once in London and he is a seriously talented actor. Maybe The English Patient will be Good place to go to next with him-it takes place before/during/ after WW2 and will pull you in will multiple love stories. If you thought Javier Bardem is creepy here(and he really is) you should watch No Country for Old Men-great Coen Bros movie and excellent performance from Bardem.

Another great Bond reaction! You really captured the excitement and nostalgia of seeing all the references to the classic Bond movies: the Aston DB5, the iconic music, the familiar characters and usual tropes. I think you really see now that knowing the history of Bond adds so much to these movies, that is lost to people only watching the Craig ones.
If you would like to see some more Judi Dench, then I recommend THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL (2011). It is a charming comedy/drama I think you would enjoy.

There was an earlier version of the script where Skyfall is a retirement lodge for former 00 agents. Apparently, Connery was slated to have a much bigger role than Finney did; one in which he would not be a groundskeeper but a former fellow agent that would have battled Silva with Craig's help.
Tell me that wouldn't have been some epic s**t...!
There is even a rumor that Connery actually shot rehearsal footage for this scenario, but his poor health ended his involvement.

My favorite thing about this, especially having been raised on the Brosnan movies is that for just a movie they did something different for a change. The villain isn't trying to start WW3 or steal billions of dollars, it's simply a revenge tale. It also doesn't end in a giant action set piece aboard a super submarine or skyscraper but in an intimate Scottish church. I prefer Casino Royale slightly I think simply because I find the part where Silva gets captured as too derivative and full of a lot of plot contrivance with his plan.

The franchise took quite the gamble by comparing the morals of the main characters instead of just their trigger fingers. Both men suffered a crisis of faith with MI6, but where it broke Bardem's character, Bond was able to shrug it off and stick to his ideals. Good gamble.

For me, this is Craig's best entry after CASINO ROYALE. Directed by Sam Mendes (1917, AMERICAN BEAUTY), it was a fitting tribute to Bond on his 50th anniversary. Without adjusting for inflation, it's still the highest grossing Bond film of all time (even my wife, who is not a big James Bond fan at all, likes this one). if nothing else, it's the best-looking movie of the series thanks to the gorgeous Oscar-nominated cinematography of the great Roger Deakins (BLADE RUNNER 2049, SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION) and Adele's main title tune became the first Bond song to win an Oscar. So glad that you both liked this one. Figured that you would (even though Carly didn't like it the first time). Yes, SPECTRE is the next one and yes, that was the name of the organization Connery fought in his early entries.

Bit of trivia for you. Both paintings contain literally the same ship: the "Temeraire." One shows it in its "youth" during the Battle of the Trafalgar, the other shows it in its old age being hauled away for scrap. The implication is clear: Bond is the ship. Near the beginning of the film, Bond is a relic, out of step and probably needing to retire. By the end, he's rejuvenated, ready for battle and wanting to get back to work "with pleasure." Like he said, resurrection is his hobby.

"Not her best song". Hah, well, it did win an Oscar, so...
This is, for my money, the very best Bond film. It grounds the whole franchise in reality. It gives James a bit of a backstory (more on that later), it has a villain that is absolutely realistic. This villain makes you actually think of the realities of espionage field work, the betrayals that are necessary, the grimy guts of it all.
Plus, new (brilliant and active) Q, the surprise sting of Moneypenny, Voldemort being a genuinely good dude and the new M. The death of Judy Dench's M really hit hard, too.
Just an excellent film overall.
The next two are... satisfying.

Well, I guess if you have to believe the entire plan was set forth in advance... Then there are loads of plot holes. But if you look at it all as though Silva was constantly monitoring everything and adjusting his plans on the fly, in order to get face to face with M... Then it is all a little less outlandish.

Nice! Though I'm not to big on the Daniel Craig Bond films, I still need to see Spectre and No Time To Die, but Skyfall was probably my favorite of the Daniel Craig ones so far! Glad to hear you liked this one, hope Carly did too! You think Javier Bardem is creepy as a villain in this movie, you should see him in his Oscar winning role in No Country For Old Men, his performance in that movie will make your hair stand on edge lol! Once again I gotta say, I'm so happy and relieved Ben is doing well! I'm glad my prayers and many others who prayed helped him out big time! But really, I think it was your love for him that really helped him out the most! I might watch this at some point, I don't know when exactly, cause it's possibly the longest Bond film I've ever seen, so when I get a chance I'll watch your reaction to it, oh and BTW the new Moneypenny in this film is Naomie Harris, you would recognize her from Pirates of the Caribbean, she played Tia Dalma the shaman priestess/Goddess Calypso in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, thought I'd pin point that lol! Take care Cassie, glad Ben is doing okay, can't wait for your next reaction, love and support always, you and Carly are the best, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍🌹

Apparently Ralph Fiennes (New M A.k.a Voldemort) was one of the actors who auditioned for Bond in the 90's but was beaten by Brosnanman. One of his best movies worth watching is The English Patient. I was blown away by this movie when I saw it in the theatre. It was my first time watching 007 on the big screen and I loved it. Right then I've also considered it to be the best yet. Now I think this is a movie that works best during first watch when you let the plot just carry you with it. But after watching it again, you start noticing its flaws and inconsistencies. Unlike Casino Royale, which is equally good if not better with every rewatch. Still a great one and consider it among my top 5-ish (on second thought maybe only 5-10) on my Bond list.
I had some hopes to begin with regarding this reaction and Cassie's recent remark during Die Hard 3 about liking a good villain with a plan just made me even more excited. Can't wait to get home tonight to watch this one. 😀

This was a huge hit but I’ve always had slightly mixed feelings about it. I thought it was a great movie, I’ve just never been convinced it’s a great Bond movie (if that makes any sense). Perhaps Bond does Home Alone was a bridge too far for me. That said I loved the way they reintroduced the old characters.
This is probably the one ‘stand alone’ movie Craig did. The timeline is odd compared to the others. He goes from being a new 00 agent to a has been in one movie. Despite the above, I always enjoy, it but it doesn’t quite make my top tier Bond movie list.

One of my favorite Bond movies. The director originally wanted Sean Connery to play the old guy in the Skyfall house.

I am not sure if the Mum was deliberate, but I am fairly certain it is just an English guy pronouncing the abbreviated version of Madam (Mam) in a typical English accent .
So glad I have something to watch for the start of the weekend in good company.

I don’t know how he would know that bond would trace the bullet to Patrice though.

What about Silvia’s plan being entirely based on pure luck and it doesn’t make sense. He does all these intricate things that rely on pure chance in order to get arrested to escape and then kill m in the hearing. Why not just blow up her car. I guess I know why, cause the dark knight came out before this and the James Bond films tend to just rip off what’s popular at the time. Just saying casino royale is better in every way though this is still entertaining if you turn your brain off.

I love this one (as I love all Craig's Bonds), but it has the most infuriating plot hole. If Casino Royale was a reboot, then how does Bond have the Goldfinger DB5? Yes, he won a similar car in CR, but I'm pretty sure it was gadget-free. Anyhoo, minor quibble, this film is amazing. The gritty Home Alone sequel we never knew we needed.

“Javier Bardem has no business being that creepy as a villain.”
It might be time for someone to watch No Country for Old Men now.

This is for sure my favorite Bond movie. It's the first one that actually gives James Bond a backstory. I love how much the Daniel Craig Bond movies flesh out the character
