Poll at the Ok Corral FINAL

Ok here are the final 4 films dueling for the win! All of these have been on my radar for a long time and I would be excited about any of them!

May the best cowboy win!

This will end on Wednesday evening!

Comments

I hope you girls will follow this up with Moonraker.

You, Sir, are correct.

Damon

Was Hoping 3:10 would win. Please watch it! Butch Cassidy and Sundance is good, but it would be a shame not to watch a great story like 3:10 to Yuma!

Biggman83

Since you were voting for Open Range yourself, IF you decided to watch it anyway, like sometime soon, I don’t think anyone would be too upset. Am I Right?

Larry Darrell

I hope you get to Open Range soon.

Trevor Rotan

Finally!!! I’ve been wanting you to watch Butch since you started this channel! One of my favs and the best buddy movie ever! You will also appreciate the fact it was mostly filmed in Utah.

KauaiKeith

Due to the younger skewing demographics, unless a movie is considered an absolute classic masterpiece, an older movie won't win any polls. Hell, even in its bracket, "Open Range" lost to "The Magnificent Seven" (a classic). That's the way it is when content is poll-driven.

Miles E Coburn

I think there were some, like me, that saw Open Range not getting the votes and switched their vote.

Damon

Greatest show ever. The characters and dialogue are just incredibly deep. The acting is phenomenal. However, Cassie would despise the show, for obvious reasons.

Al Swearengen

I'm surprised Open Range lost so hard considering how vocal people are about it. Mag 7 too, but I'm not complaining.

Bill W

I voted for Magnificent Seven but would have been fine with Open Range. Whelp, these polls don't like me I guess.

John Casamassa

My buddy and I, as we watched 1883, commented it might be the best written, acted, and produced Western we've ever seen, bar none. And it's certainly possible I've forgotten some of the violence in Deadwood. It's been several years since I last watched it. I do believe there's some value in the attention to historical accuracy in it, though. It's a moot point, though. I doubt she'd ever consider doing Deadwood, at least not for several years. 1883, OTOH... maybe we need to campaign for some votes on the popcorn requests site. ;)

Art of Free Speech

I'm bummed about Open Range losing. You would like it the best of these choices for sure.

Jen Barnes

BUTCH CASSIDY wasn't even the best movie that Redford and Newman were in. That honor will always go to THE STING, in my mind. A little disappointed in OPEN RANGE losing.

Steven Perez

1883 was superb.

Dazman

You may want to remind yourself of Deadwood violence! I'm thinking throats, fingers, and a certain eyeball. Guns, knives, axes and...um..antlers!

Dazman

But… but… Robert Redford and Paul Newman

Tara

I love Hidalgo and it doesn’t hurt to have Aragorn himself as the lead. Viggo bought the horse after filming the movie.

Tara

Cassie is familiar with Redford and the Sundance Film Festival and she has been there before.

Tara

No, they didn't. They may not have liked it, but neither considered it one of the worst movies of all.time. Ebert gave it 2.5/4 stars.

Stick Figure Studios

But that doesn't mean your eyes will soon be turning red.

Stick Figure Studios

Interesting. I'm fairly confident that the 3:10 TO YUMA remake is the one that you would actually dislike the most. I do you think, however, that she would like the original.

Stick Figure Studios

I think Ian McShane is responsible for at *least* 50% of those "F"s and "C-S"s too, Larry ;)

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

I'm just glad she continued to do Westerns at all after the Unforgiven Debacle! NOTE: No! I'm not going to let the people who voted for that film to be the introduction to the Western genre live that mistake down.

Sean Novack

I like Deadwood, too. It would definitely be an interesting Reaction. I’ve heard tell there’s just some short of 3,000 “F’s” and nearly a few hundred “C-S’s.” Great Story, too.

Larry Darrell

Probably my all-time favorite show. Hate to say it but Cassie probably will never have a reaction to Deadwood. Hope I'm wrong but not very likely in this instance. Although she surprised me watchingTrue Detective.

nick bell

They ended up in almost the exact opposite order of what I was hoping for. I should probably not play the lottery this week

nick bell

I wonder if it's a close call, Cassie will watch both. Kinda hope so but wouldn't bother me at all if she just sticks with the winner only. After watching her reaction to John Wick 3 featuring Ian McShane (Winston) and seeing her like Tombstone as much as she did, sparking a new fondness for Westerns my hope is one day for her to give Deadwood (and the follow-up movie) a shot. If she really, really wants to get into westerns I think this would the best way to do it in my opinion. 39 episodes if I recall correctly and a fantastic movie to wrap it up with (much like what happened with Firefly). Plus, it's an HBO series. She's loved all HBO series. Deadwood is considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time. Such great and memorable characters on it. She would fall in love with Bullock I'm sure.

Shawn Kildal

That's certainly fair. I do think the story in Deadwood is really good and that might entice her, but yeah, there's a lot of nudity. I didn't think the violence was that bad... no worse than Tombstone and she enjoyed that. Regardless, I do think 1883 and 1923 are much more up her alley. I would also be interested in seeing her watch, say, 3 or 4 episodes of the Rifleman (my favorite as a kid--probably because it co-stars a kid), since they're available on youtube now, or how about Bonanza? I just think she should watch some of the classic TV westerns, not the entire series of anything (though I think she would adore the entire Little House on the Prairie series), just a few episodes so she got an idea what they were like. They're definitely very different from the standard fare.

Art of Free Speech

Honestly and truly, although The Outlaw Josey Wales didn't get this far. I love all 60's movies. I did love this movie. I think Cassie will love this movie.

Zachary K.

Siskel and Ebert consider it one of the worst movies of all time.

Tommy.J

I can't believe Open Range is not winning.

Tommy.J

But I can't swim!

Colin Gutierrez

I don't think she would like Deadwood. And apart from the bad language, graphic violence, sex, nudity, gore and graphic scenes not really being Cassie's thing, they will also mean the YT Edits will be about two minutes long.

Dazman

But that doesn't mean your eyes will soon be turning red.

Stick Figure Studios

Looks like Raindrops will keep fallin' on my head with Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Open Range is one of the best westerns I've seen. Outside of my personal favorite, Once Upon A Time In The West.

S N

Time to do a two movie poll race

Philip G.

Yeah! Everything YOU said Craig! 99% agree! As for me, I liked Mag 7, just never liked Butch and Sundance and, like you, found Yuma cliché. Open Range is my Favorite Western of all time followed CLOSELY by Tombstone, followed by a mix of John Wayne classics, (True Grit, El Dorado, Rio Lobo etc.),

'Pappy' Johnston

I enjoyed Michael Gambon's (Prof. Dumbledore) performance in "Open Range" as the villain. The cast also includes Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall, Annette Bening, & Michael Jeter. A real western!

Duane A Lavely

Cassie is going to adore Button!

David Collins

This is me too. I was really worried Mag7 was going to win this because I don't think I can watch it again. It was not my cup of tea.

David Collins

I'm voting for the tie again. But 'rain drops are falling on my head...'

David Collins

Sorry. How could you not love watching Steve McQueen desperately trying to upstage Yul Brynner in every scene?

jeffrey bruce

How could you not wa

jeffrey bruce

If Butch Cassidy wins I hope that sets us up to watch “An Unfinished Life” with Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman. An incredible movie, makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

Uncle Phoenix

I think the one she would like best is 3:10 to Yuma. I have always preferred Seven Samurai to the Magnificent Seven (to the point where I actually dislike that movie and I don't understand how it's popular, it is so vastly inferior to it's inspiration). Open Range I think is underrated and deserves more love, but Butch Cassidy is the best in this list.

Caomhan84

I love 3 outta' 4 of these. But Open Range truly is my favorite. And considering we're all trying to get Cassie, (and Carly), to ACTUALLY LIKE WESTERNS....🤣😂🤣😂, What's better than a NON-DUSTY Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall, Annet Benning story of good over evil with great cinnamontography, that was filmed on location on the Stoney Indian Reserve in ALBERTA, CANADA? 😁

'Pappy' Johnston

Vote what's in your heart Rodger! We all know she'd love Open Range! I mean One of her faves,Kevin Costner, not only started it, but produced it as well! 😂🤣👍🏻

'Pappy' Johnston

You are absolutely right! But Open Range of course! You KNOW how she is about, Kevin Costner, beautiful cinematography and a great love story built in along with NO DUST and awesome action! 😂🤣 Seriously though every vote counts.👍🏻

'Pappy' Johnston

While I'd rather vote for Open Range, I gotta make sure Butch and Sundance beat Yuma. Btw these are all must watch.

Rodger Johnson

This is a tough one for me because Open Range (2003) and 3:10 to Yuma (2007) are two of my top 3 westerns. Unforgiven (1992) is the other. Ugh... Not sure which to go with, soooooo coin flip it is!

Terdell Ferguson

the Best Western film of all time and one of the greatest movies ever made!!

Bill Maurer

Amen !!!! Speaking to the choir, speaking to the choir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill Maurer

I know .....

Bill Maurer

She can do a Costner double feature: Silverado then Open Range

Bill Maurer

Sorry Jennifer but,you are the only one♡ :)

Celeste McAllister

I LOVE Open Range I think its one of the best westerns of all time and it has everything you want Cassie , but I really want you to enjoy some of the classics 1st . (kind of a chronological thing) you know so watch Butch and Sundance then Magnificent 7 and THEN you can see the others. .............no spoilers but you are going to Absolutely LOOOOVE Open Range 😄 oh and it has Kevin 😁

Sam R.

I seem to remember reading that Open Range has the longest gun-fight of any Western in the history of movie-making. I've seen it twice in public and both times there was an audible gasp from the audience when that first shot is fired! The tension builds for so long that when it pops it is amazing. Costner refused to be "Top Billed" in the credits out of respect for Robert Duvall!

Paul Mellette

You should watch the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and the Frisco Kid

Jeff Mattes

Oh yeah, “Spit over that piece of firewood.”

Larry Darrell

Looking at the list of finalists, I'd say Butch Cassidy is the Western classic you should probably watch in the next step of your education, but I hope that all of these make it onto your screen eventually. Open Range is a great movie that stands up well to any Western in history. Easily my favorite modern era Western.

George Parker

The Searchers is pretty dark over all, but it does have its delightfully humorous moments.

George Parker

Never liked it.

nick bell

For me it’s not the top choice but I agree it should be higher.

China Andronicus

Thank you!! Seven Samurai is a damn masterpiece. I was so sad when it didn’t get its due during its time in the polls.

China Andronicus

All are great tbh but I would rate them 3:10, Butch, Open Range, Magnificent 7

Odd Thomas

I am with you in not understanding the appeal of the movie. I just don't get it. I'm not saying it is a bad movie. Why it is so popular escapes me.

Mike LL

If it's between Butch Cassidy and 3:10 ... Gotta go with the old classic that I haven't seen.

Grad

It's been a few years but I recall The Searchers being dark, not funny..

Bill W

Butch...Butch...Butch!

Kat Farlowe

I've seen all 4 and like all 4. M7 would be running 4th for me.

Brent Petty

Open Range is my favorite of these 4, but it looks like it'll lose. Too bad. Costner, Duvall, Benning, Dumbledore, Del from The Green Mile. Great writing, and one of, if not the best shootouts of any western, ever. Plus a love story.

Brent Petty

Underrated scene stealer: "I work for Mr E.H. Harriman!"

Brent Petty

Am I the only one who did not like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? I just didn't get it. I particularly hated the bicycle scene. Just cringey. (I'm sure I'll get hell for this, oh well)

Jennifer Medicus

Cassie does enjoy films with teachers in it.

Danny T

Open Range being one of the more recent films, is actually one of the most Traditionally Classic Westerns on the lists, along with John Ford’s. Even the Original 3:10 to Yuma, was a bit ahead of its time, due to Elmore Leonard’s writing. When this Poll is over, Please, Please don’t let the losing Films get Lost in the Shuffle, especially… The Searchers (1956). This is the Quintessential Western. Very Powerful… and Doggone Funny too.

Larry Darrell

I think The Untouchables is the only poll winner that I ever voted for. At least it's the only one that comes to mind.

John Casamassa

I could accept Mag 7 losing if Open Range was winning, but I have absolutely no interest in Yuma.

John Casamassa

I know, right? 😢

John Casamassa

C'mon Magnificent Seven!!!

John Casamassa

I voted for Butch & Sundance but I'm surprised, actually shocked that Open Range is doing this poorly.

Shawn Kildal

3:10 is a good movie but Butch Cassidy would 1000% be the best reaction

Alex Bond

Watch. All. Of. Them. And I'm not (not) saying that because my (favorite) film is losing. It will make everyone (many) (most) (some) (quite a few) happy. Watch 'em all.

Mike LL

Right... I also think she'd absolutely adore both 1883 and 1923, AND, as you kind of alluded to, with them being Yellowstone prequels, people do care about them.

Art of Free Speech

For sure. 1883 or 1923 would be perfect for her. Short seasons and great shows. A lot more relevant. I definitely get what she’s doing but there’s only so many that are reaction worthy, and that people care about at the same time.

Jonny Kerr (JK)

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a fine movie, but barely a Western in the conventional sense. It’s a romance set in the West. I actually like the 2007 version of 3:10 to Yuma better than the original. Open Range is a solid modern Western. However, The Searchers, Red River, Angel and the Badman are true classics of the genre.

Terry Wood

You’re kidding, right?

Terry Wood

SHANE will be back. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

Everything should be ahead of YUMA. It's by far the least of these films..

Stick Figure Studios

Agree to disagree Duncan - but you already said you like newer movies,... I'm betting you haven't watched some of the real good older ones (not necessarily on this or any poll she has done so far,) and no, not all the old ones are good either. Definitely would put the 07 version of 3:10 to Yuma last on this list,... although none of these on this list are super high on my list of favorite westerns. Any of the other 3 would rank higher (much higher) than 3:10 to Yuma (07) though. Some of the newer westerns are good, just not all of them - and it definitely depends on the producer, story line, and authenticity,... one of my most hated movies was "The Quick & the Dead" - not even close to historically accurate and just a shitty storyline, even if it had a good cast. If you can suspend your mind and watch for the action - it was ok, but not great at all because it was horribly written.

ENC SW DV Rush

Me too.

Stick Figure Studios

It would have been nice, but at least it's another classic Western that's winning instead. I'm sure we'll get MAGNIFICENT SEVEN at some point.

Stick Figure Studios

Butch Cassidy... is so good definitely voting for that. Magnificent Seven is great, but pales in comparison to the original Seven Samurai.

sarCC

Open Range is such a great film. Costner and Duvall are out standing, and yes it's a western, but it's got a bit of a love story in there as well which we all know Cassie loves. It may not win the poll but I sure hope she gets around to watching it.

Ryan Towell

another pick of mine shot to heck, Open Range is such a good movie.

zynjams

I really dont like the polls, usually the best movies dont win and I end up not watching the winner

zynjams

Honestly, I'd be fine with any one of these films that isn't 3:10 TO YUMA, but I'm voting for my favorite of the list: BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. I've been pushing for this film ever since Cassie watched (and loved) THE STING. Same actors, same director and same charming, witty and utterly delightful tone.

Stick Figure Studios

It shows a tremendous lack of sophistication to assume that newer is necessarily better.

Stick Figure Studios

@Robert: I also like the original. You would have hated the ending to the new one.

Stick Figure Studios

I’m agreeing with all of you. Open Range is my favorite.

Wendy

All are good but my preference is Open Range and I think Cassie would be a big fan of it.

Wendy

The good news is that I think Cassie would actually enjoy all 4 of these. All good films and all...I think...in her wheelhouse.

Matt Rose

If The Magnificent Seven doesn't win this poll, it will just prove to me that voting on polls here is pointless. PROVE ME WRONG PEOPLE!

rakesh

I’m sure Cassie is aware of the Sundance Film Festival, in Park City. The Sundance kid is where the name comes from.

Charlie Burton

To me you are half right. I think El Dorado from the '60's, Rio Bravo from the '50's; Red River from the '40's and Destry Rides Again from the '30's are all better and more entertaining movies than 3:10 '07, but I would still have Cassie (and Carly) watch Open Range.

Mike LL

I kind of know how you feel, the two I like the least are doing the best!

Mike LL

Yes, it will be one very great reaction I am waiting to see. Cassie had great instincts to vote for that one.

Mike LL

I voted for Butch, and Sundance, cuz I think Cassie will thoroughly enjoy it the most out of all the westerns

Lazarus Gonzales

This is an absolute travesty that The Magnificent Seven is running last. I am truly appalled by patrons choices when it comes down to the best film to watch. Shame on all of you. 😞

John Cranberry

Just my $.02, but she'd be much better off ditching the western movies for a bit and watching any of Deadwood, 1883, or 1923. Heck, throw in The Rifleman or Gunsmoke (though those are significantly longer runs... both 1883 and 1923 are very short, and Deadwood is all of 36 episodes).

Art of Free Speech

Red River is a classic!

Jerrod Acree

ok, my opinion. Butch and Sundance had an amazing cast and should have been a MUCH better movie, Mag 7 is one I just never liked, Yuma is just every western cliche thrown into a movie. Open Range is my pick, a great movie in its own right and the subject matter is something still dealt with today.

Craig Russell

I'd be happy with any of these, although Open Range would be my preference. As for a change of pace non-traditional western, I hope that Cassie and Carly will watch Hidalgo starring Aragorn himself, Viggo Mortensen. I think they'd love that one.

Damon

High Noon, Shane, The Searchers, Red River, Stagecoach. Most PiB patreons are modern action fans, and modern action films are standing on the shoulder of giants.

G

Right there with you, Michael

Damon

Me reacting to LightsCameraJake: *faints*

Damon

Who are those guys

Pacmule

I hope Jeremiah Johnson isn't feeling left out again, jk. :)

Celeste McAllister

Still TMS has some of the coolest guys of the day..

Celeste McAllister

I confess I find it a little dull. For some reason I prefer the newer westerns. I think they tend to have better pacing and more creative action.

Dazman

'Think you used enough dynamite there Butch'

Celeste McAllister

“You just keep thinkin', Butch. That's what you're good at.”

Steve

Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid more or less changed the movie industry. Incredible and incredibly important movie

Adam Zimmerman

I'm hoping The Magnificent Seven makes a comeback. Such a good movie, they don't make 'em like that anymore. A perfect example of men who had the honor to do the right thing.

Kaida171

Let's go Yuma!

Joseph Voigt

Misery and Maverick. Those were some Winners in Cassie’s Book.

Larry Darrell

Yeah. I’ve seen both also. I really enjoyed the 2007 film, especially the end. But it’s definitely a different feel than the original. Better for the casual western fan I think 🤷🏾‍♂️

Chad Bailey

Duncan

Come on out of the House sometime. The Sunshine’s Great! ;-)

Larry Darrell

I know as a fan of westerns and such, I hold a minority position, but Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid has always been a wildly overrated film (despite the incredible cast).

Walter

Wow...the two I love the most are doing the worst.

nick bell

3:10 to Yuma is such a good film but then again so is Paul Newman & Robert Redford!!!

Alina Jones

I’m so sad Open Range isn’t doing better. Such a great movie with a great cast, and it was Cassie’s vote.

Michael Lynch

Haven’t seen that one since I was a kid.

Jerrod Acree

3:10 to Yuma has Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Need I say more?

Hades13

Being that the ladies watched and loved my favorite western Tombstone, any of these fine films would be icing on the cake for me. Looks like another tight finish.

Robin Craft

Please let it be Butch Cassidy.

Tim Raths

Lots of westerns have not been seen on these polls. I'm waiting for ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.

Mark Vaderr

Went with 3:10 to Yuma. A good story with a great pace. Not a boring moment at all. Cassie also loves Christian Bale.

Mark Vaderr

We can't even get The Magnificent Seven.

Steve Colletti

Agreed, Tara!

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

😔 Didn't care for it. Not a happy movie.

Rick Williams

No where have I seen Shane!!!!!!

Jerrod Acree

I really like the original film, but this remake I had to turn off after about 20 minutes in. It's been a while though. Maybe I'll give it another look-see.

Robert Jewell

I was going to vote for it, no point now.

Richard Maurer

Butch Cassidy... is a great story, with fine performances all round, and a really well-crafted script. The screenplay was written by William Goldman, who also wrote The Princess Bride, All the President's Men, and many other excellent films.

Elliot Nesterman

I’m hoping for Butch and Sundance. Cassie likes Robert Redford and Paul Newman together from watching The Sting and this movie has been the runner up on past Western polls

Tara

3:10 to Yuma, please y’all 🙏🏾. It’s the perfect mix of traditional western and modern, with heart 💔. Cassie will EAT IT UP!!!

Chad Bailey

All worthy films. Open Range gets my vote.

Dave

Not to be a hater (which means I'm gonna be one lol), but Magnificent Seven should be way ahead of Yuma. Hoping for Butch & Sundance since it looks like Magnificent Seven is going to come in last place.

Todzilla

You and me both 😢

Todzilla

I would have voted for the magnificent 7, but I prefer the remake with Denzel Washington. Sorry if I offend anyone, it's just my preference.

ATrain 23

I've been pushing for Butch and Sundance for a year!

Neill Shaughness

In a future western poll, Appaloosa (2008) Vigo Mortensen (Aragorn) and Ed Harris (General Hummel- The Rock)

Nathan Swapp

Cassie would LOVE both Butch/Sundance and Open Range.

Alex Villarreal

I agree. Since Cassie and Carly liked Tombstone, I think they would also enjoy Silverado. Cast has a lot of great stars.

Richard Bourne

I'll have to keep waiting for it ig

Joseph Rardin

RIP Magnificent Seven

Joseph Rardin

All these movies are damn fine but I went with the one with real characters. Robert Leroy Parker & Harry Longabaugh aka Butch & Sundance

Pacmule

Never heard of any of these so I voted for the one that is winning 😂

LightsCameraJake

I'm hoping for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, that's my Dad's favorite western! next to The Sting, this is also one of Paul Newman and Robert Redford's best films together! Happy Easter weekend and stay classy Cassie lol🥰😁😉👍

Wesley White

Let's go 3:10

Philip G.

3:10 TO YUMA -They gonna hang me in the mornin' I'll never see the sun-

Luke Ferrara

"The Searchers" ????

Bill Maurer

Open Range is amazing.

OCD Obsessive Collection Disorder

Open Raaaaaaannnnngggggeeeee!

Mike LL

Still hoping for Silverado someday :)

Patrick Egan

Let’s go Open Range!

Robert da Spruce

open range is my vote..........2003.................but also hope to see carly with it

christopher b swanson

Watch as all four tie 😂
