John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) - Full Reaction

WOAHHH!!! Why do you still cheer for him? You do right?! I can't explain it. This was A LOT! I was entertained and grossed out at the same time... Do I want to watch 3 still? Yes, yes I do.

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) - Full Reaction

Comments

No love story. No significant back story. Instead, a thin story. The stylized action/well-performed violence makes the movie.

Clay F

question to assassin baddassary for killing people. Rambo (John Rambo), the Equalizer (robert McCall), Taken (Bryan Mills), Kill Bill (the bride), Mad Max (mel gibson), The long kiss goodnight (samantha Caine),

Jimmy Reyes

Boom shakalaka was my fav...Must've had Duke Caboom on the mind haha

Joey

Suddenly, a light bulb moment…Baba Ganoush 😂

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

John Wick 3 for Easter would be awesome. Or just something cool for April 9th. Its my birthday.

David RedEagle

Well now you obviously have to continue with Chapter 3 right? And no this was way better than the first.

Joe M

Still remember when this movie came out on Valentine’s Day weekend. Took my then girlfriend obviously now ex to see this instead of the new fifty shades of grey movie that came out on the same day lol probably that’s why she dumped me lol she still loved the movie though lol

The King In The North

I actually feel bad when I know she's watching something that will be a hard watch. District 9 is a great example.

Martin Carter

I'd double my monthly pledge for that.

Dave Sees Movies

A Cassie watch of The Wire would be too good to be true.

Mike LL

It's super fascinating to see Cassie's reaction to this type of movie. The sheer look of horror on her face at the gratuitous violence that made me smile, made rewatching this movie all the more enjoyable. I'm probably more excited to see her reaction to Chapter 3 than I am the remaining episodes of The Last Of Us, and that's saying something!

Luke Godfrey

I really, really recommend the Fantastic Fest film festival for fans of genre cinema. It’s outrageously good fun held at my favorite movie theater in the world, the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. My best theater-going experiences are all centered around that theater.

Just Plain Bob

I don’t know. I suspect it was because it was an unknown franchise and they were taking a bit of a gamble with it and didn’t want to risk spending more money. But that’s pure speculation on my part. The year before they had premiered Man of Thai Chi, a film that Reeves starred in and directed. I liked it a lot. But it bombed at the box office. Hollywood has a short memory for success but the memory of an elephant for failures, so I suspect that played a part. Again, pure speculation on my part.

Just Plain Bob

that. is. awesome!! why did they not do any advertising?

Cassie

love this!!

Cassie

I mean, yeah - Mad Max: Fury Road is such a conceptual piece as a film, you don't even have to have seen any of the previous films in the franchise in order to enjoy it or figure out relatively quickly what's going on. I do love it more than the other films in the franchise, but for completely different reasons than any good points I might pick out about the original films. lol I will say that this is one of the best acting performances I've ever seen out of Keanu, like ever - so that's something.

Rue

True dat. For my money, HBO's best show

Dave Sees Movies

It also has Idris Elba and a 15 year old Michael B. Jordan.

Tim Raths

Hell yeah. Part 3 is a masterpiece. Although I hear part 4 is epic.

Philip Davetas

Hey buddy! Here is Cassie's letterboxed, most of what she's seen off channel is here: https://letterboxd.com/pib1/films/by/name/

Jon Johns

If we're trying to get Cassie to consider great Lance Reddick performances, ya can't go wrong with "The Wire." Of course, you need 60 hours to watch it, so maybe take it in chunks.

Dave Sees Movies

well speaking for myself, as an action movie afficionado, they're very enjoyable due to the spectacular fight scenes. The movies were made by stunt people, and they know how to make a fun action film. I mean, Mad Max Fury Road is a fantastic film, but its also very loose on story. Thats the point though.

Armchair Wizard

Thanks Tyler.

Ike

Yeah, I'm honestly surprised that it's made it as far as it has in terms of sequels - I guess everybody was just so hyped that Keanu was acting again, they just wanted to have him do as much as he possibly can before he retires for real-real. It's not that the story's bad? It's really not. It's just very, very... thin. I think the most interesting thing about the entire franchise is the whole secret world of international assassins that have this exclusive means of paying each other for things, places to stay, doctors, rules, etc. Fascinating shit, but they don't put enough of it into the universe to make it anything more than "watch Keanu Matrix the shit out of all the things for 2 hours." Which - fair enough, but again - that's some thiiiiiiiiiiin plot.

Rue

Isn’t it a Shelby GT Mustang. Shelby from Ford v Ferrari

Sean Stuart

This is definitely an unpopular opinion but outside of the first movie I don’t care about this franchise at all.

Alex Gorell

Your reaction to Fishburne (Morpheus) showing up was perfect matching how the rest of us reacted to that scene.

Tringard

FYI; The High Table is a Deep State myth. According to the myth the High Table is where elected representatives from the Order of the Black Sun and the Order of the Dragon families come together yearly to elect their leader, The Pindar. According to the myth, the elders from the Black Sun Clan and the Dragon Families run the whole world; and The Pindar is one of the only people who can overrule a member of the High Table.

Uncle Phoenix

No, that's the next one, Parabellum.

Tyler Foster

No.Thats the next one.

Gary Smith

Is this the one with Halle Berry?

Ike

Watching all the killings. Cassie: No, stop it. It’s too much. The rest of us: awesome headshot and tactical reloading. More more more.

Michael Lynch

Cassie's hair is always nice. Some people are just blessed like that. She probably wakes up looking like that. 😋

Rick Williams

You thought John Wick 2 was a little violent? Maybe. 😁 Great reaction. You don't like the squishy noises? You had the same issue watching 300. You asked why must he shoot them in the head after shooting them in the heart? To be sure they are done. Double tap. One in the chest. One in the head. That's normally good enough to make sure they are no longer a threat. Now on to John Wick 3. Preferably in less than a year and a half this time. How about next week? That's good for me. 😉 Until next time. Be good.

Rick Williams

PS to my previous reply: Just finished the first episode and it was awesome! Can’t wait to listen to the rest. Thanks yet again!

Just Plain Bob

I think we'll need a lot more comfort blankets for John Wick 3

Woody G

Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. Had never heard of it but I just downloaded every episode to my phone. He was a tremendous actor and taken too soon. Can’t wait to listen to this series. I’m a sucker for radio dramas (I have several hundred MP3s of everything from The Shadow to The Hermit’s Cave) and this seems to fit right in my sweet spot. Thanks again!

Just Plain Bob

He and Hallie Berry trained at Taran Tactical. It is out on Youtube. He and Berry really put in the honest work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xii9_oWQ7HY

Matt Mabry

I was trying to avoid a spoiler with that, but YES, dog lovers will be impressed.

Richard Bourne

Love the first film. The sequels not so much.

Odd Thomas

Yes, looking forward to it!

R Harper

I can see what you're saying, but by that logic the Mission Impossible series should have been eight months between each film reaction the IM films were knocked out like clockwork.

R Harper

And JW4 opens this week.

Steve Colletti

And the dogs! JW2 felt a bit too repetitious in places to me, especially John working his way through the museum.

Steve Colletti

I love the John Wick movies. They’re a wonderful update on the 70s revenge thriller. I used to attend the Fantastic Fest film festival in Austin each year. They usually have one or two world premieres during the course of the festival. In 2014, the movie they premiered was John Wick. There had been no tv advertising for the movie, no word of mouth or magazine articles. Just nothing to indicate the movie had even been made. And then, suddenly, they premiered the movie at Fantastic Fest. I was lucky enough to have a VIP badge that year and be able to attend the premiere. I still remember the young ladies going nuts when Keanu Reeves walked the very short red carpet they had set up in the lobby. Great experience.

Just Plain Bob

She watched the first Wick movie almost two years ago. Die Hard and Lethal Weapon are more recent.

Tim Raths

And you want to watch #3 . . . What about Lethal Weapon 3 and 4? What about Die Hard 3? Considered by many fans and critics to be the best Die Hard. I'm all for John Wick 3 still think you need to clean house on movie series you've already started 👍

R Harper

They spelled it out onscreen as Baba Yaga in the first movie. And Baba Yaga is mentioned in Antman by one of those guys working with Louis.

Mike LL

Did you know that John Wick's granddad was born in Finland? There is now a movie about him 😃😃 https://youtu.be/2NnPzpuU5ao

Björn Karlsson

"He speaks Russian, Italian...doesn't believe in lights." hahahaha, best reaction comment ever =D

Paul Ark

I believe she has seen those.

Tim Raths

Loved this movie. John Wick is like a one man version of DEVGRU.

Josh Phillips

If you haven't already, can you watch the Ocean's trilogy?

LionBro

That's my thinking as well, that the first has an emotional starting point and relatable arc that this assassin and crime underworld gets layered on as it goes as a fun garnish. After that it's this labyrinthine maze of rules and council's and terminology that feels like the snake eating it's tail of lore.

Choof

I'm gonna get tarred and feathered for this but I actually preferred this sequel more than the original. The mano a mano fight with Cassian (Common), John's selection of his tactical clothing and weapons, Italy and his dog lives. Also along with others... Rest in Peace Lance Reddick

Robin Craft

I will always remember Lance Reddick as Lt. Daniels on The Wire. RIP Mr. Reddick, it was a pleasure to have you.

Tim Raths

Finally John Wick Chapter 2 been waiting for this Hopefully John Wick Chapter 3 doesn't take as long get a reaction 😂😂 also R.I.P. Lance Reddick such a dope actor 🙏

Charles Briggs

Plus I think Cassie could handle the original. I think the 2003 remake is better than the original but it might be rough on Cassie.

William Bryan

I will always enjoy Charon saying "As always, it is a pleasure to have you with us again, Mr Wick." Rip Lance

EligiusXCVI

My Lance Reddick recommendation for everyone is Batman Unburied on Spotify. It’s an old school radio drama where Batman’s family never died and he is a doctor and medical examiner for the police. Lance Reddick plays Thomas Wayne. It’s a tremendous performance and series. Very fresh take on Batman <3

djKENTO

Oh especially the original. It uses smart editing and sound to make you think you’re seeing more than you are. Hooper was so smart when given a small budget.

djKENTO

Lance Reddick brought a swagger and class to every project he was in including and especially John Wick films. RIP to a fantastic actor

Jyn Jilly

You've literally made me insane. There, I'm insane. It was Babayaga. And Babaganoush is Arabic for Sweet Daddy or a dip made from eggplant.

Martin Carter

The movie "Equilibrium" for another one where the main character can just kill everyone 😀 I'm not sure /why/ you asked, but there you go.

Planner

Cassie, first your hair looks nice. Secondly, John Wick's car is a 1969 Ford Mustang, a classic muscle car.

Richard Bourne

I know, terrible. He was what, 61? At least his character had a larger part in JW3 and hopefully so in JW4,

Richard Bourne

Gonna rewatch from Fringe now for some Lance Reddick and Anna Torv.

Christopher Smith

I'd like a tasting with something big for the end of the night. I also need two suits, one for day and one for night, Italian, two button, and tactical. LOL. Come on this is great stuff. You've got to watch three, if for nothing else they got Halle Berry on board and she trained for it with K Reeves. The guns and the shooting tactics are real.

Richard Bourne

I'll say it again watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre in Oct. You can handle it now

William Bryan

RIP Lance Reddick! You were a real one!

djKENTO

Isn't March Pedro Pascal month with finishing TBBF, watching The Last of Us and Mando S3? 😃 For me, this is one of those movie series where the first one was outstanding, but I have mixed feelings about the sequels. In the first one, as a viewer, you immediately had an emotional connection to Wick's character thanks to the tragic backstory about his wife and the dog and you could understand his anger, grief and rampage. Because of that it sorts of had a heart&soul. This is something that I feel is entirely missing from the sequels. Those are essentially just wall-to-wall action (but good one, I admit that), and diving into a more and more crazy and unplausible assassin world.

Gábor Árki

Hey I was surprised you decided to watch JW 2 I didn't think you was crazy about the last one. Also why wouldn't we cheer for him he's an awesome character

MatthewBrown74m

RIP Lance Reddick
