We want MOORE BOND!

Hi guys!

We are 3 movies into the James Bond saga, and we are so excited to see what the new actor brings to the series! This time, we’re voting on the Roger Moore era. He did 7 movies! We are only going to watch two of them, the top two winners in this poll.

Vote. Bond Vote!

You can vote more than once and the poll will close in 3 days!

Update post coming now

A View To A Kill is not only my favourite Bond movie, it's my favourite Christopher Walken movie!

TheGreat Gambino

I do have a soft spot for Octopussy. Don't know if it is rose tinted nostalgia but the style, exotic locales, music, smuggling and bad guys...

Dazman

I thought FYEO would have made the cut too. I didn't know LALD was so popular - it's an odd film in a lot of ways.

Dazman

Agreed. Live and Let Die is not only NOT a great Bond movie... but it's aged HORRIBLY. The racial politics alone are going to make it a hard sit for Cassie and Carly. For Your Eyes Only would have easily been a great match with Spy (and they would also now have context for the opening). For Your Eyes Only (especially the St. Cyril's climax) would have easily appealed to their action sensibilities. I'm honestly not looking forward to this one and think the people who voted for it did C&C dirty.

Cliff Stephenson

I'm voting for Live And Let Die because I have a childhood love for crocodiles and the farm scene was one of the special moments in the series for me. I do like FYEO and I do hope Cassie gets round to seeing it soon!

ROBERT CLARK

Here, here, and well said to both of you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. This whole approach to Bond has been kinda maddening--from the ungenerous Whitman's sampler strategy to do only 2 of Connery and Moore to, as mentioned, being advised WRONGLY that each actor is portraying a different character etc is just so silly and ill informed that I've just checked out from the whole affair. It's like shouting into the wind, I'm, afraid.

Robert Livingood

Personally I think For Your Eyes Only is better than The Spy Who Loved Me. Mostly because For Your Eyes Only feels more like a Sean Connery era Bond adventure. The Spy Who Loved Me is much more corny, but fits Roger Moore better, I suppose. But as several comments say, its a shame since the opening was rather good after the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It's a shame the rights to use Specter was lost after Diamonds Are Forever, as we could have had a John Wick style revenge flick. :D I am somewhere glad Live and let Die was chosen, as it was my childhood favorite Bond movie. But its age does shows a bit.

Avastrasza

I agree that Odd Job and Jaws are more of a threat, but Nick Nack is (for me) a much more entertaining character to watch. And yes, the redneck sherriff sequence is the weakest element of the movie. I simply find Golden Gun much more entertaining than underwater cars, dropping Blofeld in a smokestack, or Bond dressing like a crocodile, clown and gorilla (and reacting to a carny musician playing his themesong). All of Moore's Bonds have silly moments like this, so you always knew you were going to have to tolerate a few things that shouldn't be in there.

Cliff Endicott

I'm Right There With You Stick. ShakingMyHead I felt from the Beginning, that whoever had Cassie's Ear and gave her advice on the Bond Films, did not prepare her well enough. (On Her Majesty's Secret Service proved that) In the beginning, I was against taking the Short Cut Route. The James Bond series of Films is one of the Greatest and Longest Running Film series of All Time. The James Bond character, which is introduced in Dr. No, is the Same Character in the Same World for 20 films from 1962 to 2002. FORTY YEARS. (In my opinion, its 16 in 27 years, but I respect others' opinions, and agree 40 sounds better, but later on that) In the Year 2023, we have the opportunity to watch All of Them, in Order. I Would Always Recommend Doing So. However, I understand the Enormous Commitment that watching All 25 Films would be for this Channel, and the desire to do a Short Cut. But, there was a proper way to do it. I think some people have never realized that there is an Overarching Story happening. I know it's Subtle, but It's There, if you watch them All in Order. You only ever get One First Viewing, and Missing Key Moments in this Arc by watching the Films Out of Order, and far apart, makes the Experience Less Satisfying. From a lot of the comments, I've gathered that this is probably how most people have watched them, and why they think the films are not connected. Completely Agree that missing Dr. No (only debut missed) and For Your Eyes Only (overarching story) is a Bummer. It's like taking a Short Cut, but you get a flat tire and arrive late. If I had to guess, I would say this might be the only time Cassie and Carly watch some of these films, so to Miss Key Films this First Time, is a Misstep. Watching 3 Films Each would have been Much, Much Better. It would of only added 2 more films to the Schedule. 2 KEY Films. (Didn't add a third for Brosnan, because it would have put him over the half-mark) I still would have loved for them to see Thunderball though. Some of those Subtle Character Arc moments. Anyways, We’ll Always Have The Spy Who Loved Me.

Larry Darrell

I agree that Christopher Lee is one of the best Roger Moore villains and arguably even one of the best villains of the whole series. I just wish he had a better plot, a better movie and a better henchman. Sorry, but I do not find Herve Villechaize to be a good henchman (I like the actor, but as any kind of threat to Bond? Let's be serious here). The final scene in the movie with him is just embarrassing. Give me Jaws or Odd-job any day. Also, as beautiful as Britt Eckland is, can we agree that her character is really stupid? And what was the motivation behind bringing Sheriff JW Pepper back? Was it not bad enough seeing him in LALD, where his presence at least made sense. Clifton James is a wonderful character actor (and he's played that same redneck Sheriff character in later movies like SUPERMAN 2 and SILVER STREAK), but he has to easily be one of the most obnoxious and annoying characters in any Bond movie.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, it will definitely make for an interesting reaction. I admit I'm curious, but I'm not exactly looking forward to it. Definitely looking forward, however, to SPY WHO LOVED ME, which now will probably look all the more impressive by comparison.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm not annoyed or angry. I just respectfully disagree. TSWLM is definitely his best, but I don't care much for LALD. Still, if you dig it, that's cool. I can respect that opinion. What annoys/angers me is that it seems like most of the people who voted for it did so just because they like the cool Paul McCartney song and I find that pretty absurd.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, that's it. It is now officially over. The patrons have spoken and they want Cassie to watch THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and LIVE AND LET DIE. Damn it. I knew SPY WHO LOVED ME would win as it is almost universally regarded as Roger Moore's best (and rightfully so), but I am genuinely surprised and disappointed that LIVE AND LET DIE also won. I (and a lot of other people) really wanted FOR YOUR EYES ONLY to be the other Moore reaction as it is easily his second best movie, but alas it was not to be. I know that going through all of them one by one was never really considered a realistic option (although some other reactors are doing it pretty successfully), but this is really making me wish that they had done three titles instead of two for both Connery and Moore. Both actors did six or seven movies and two each just doesn't do them Justice. Three would have been a much better sampling size. It would have given the girls a chance to watch both LALD and FYEO, which I would have been fine with. It also would have given the girls a chance to see Sean Connery's debut in DR NO which lost in its poll by one point. As another patron pointed out, since GOLDENEYE is certain to win the Brosnan poll and they're doing all of the Daniel Craig entries (naturally including CASINO ROYALE), this means that they will be seeing every Bond actor's debut movie... except for Connery. That's just not right. Oh, well. Nothing to be done about it now. Time to just accept it and move on, although, and perhaps this is petty, I don't know that I'm never going to fully get over this (in the same way that some people never got over Cassie's first Western on the channel being MAVERICK, which never really bothered me). While Cassie and Carly may go back and do the other Bond films one day, the fact that they're being denied not only one of Moore's best Bond movies but one of the best in the whole series on their first time through it is upsetting (and given their reaction to ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, there was one aspect of it that was going to be very satisfying to them). What's even more upsetting is that in its place they are watching one of Roger Moore's weaker entries... In my opinion anyway. On the upside, maybe this will make THE SPY WHO LOVED ME that much more impressive by comparison. We'll see. Definitely looking forward to that reaction.

Stick Figure Studios

I hope I don't annoy or anger anyone when I say this, but I really think the best two Roger Moore Bond films won.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

She will.

Stick Figure Studios

She will.

Stick Figure Studios

Moonraker is the worst movie in the series. Golden Gun is the best.

Richard Maurer

Live and Let Die will be interesting, to say the least. Looking forward to The Spy Who Loved Me.

Larry Darrell

I hope you watch the winners in chronological order. Live and Let Die needs to be the first.

Marko T.

Now that the results are in, can I suggest that you please watch the films in chronological order, rather than winner first? You would then be introduced to Roger Moore as 007 as we all were 😊x

Nigel Mason

1. The Spy Who Loved Me 2. For Your Eyes Only 3. Octopussy 4. Moonraker 5. A View to a Kill 6. Live and Let Die 7. The Man with the Golden Gun

Stick Figure Studios

1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Spy Who Loved Me 3. The Man With The Golden Gun 4. Octopussy 5. A View To A Kill 6. Live And Let Die 7. Moonraker

Sean Novack

1. The Spy Who Loved Me 2. Octopussy 3. Moonraker 4. The Man with the Golden Gun 5. For Your Eyes Only 6. Live and Let Die 7. A View to a Kill

Dustin85

But where is FYEO ranked on those same polls?

Stick Figure Studios

I was surprised like many others here that LALD is #2 in the poll so I researched online polls, rankings, opinion pieces, etc. and found LALD to be ranked near the top of every poll.

Ian Cano

Live and Let Die and Moonraker are my favorites.

Marko T.

I don't know precisely why so many people are voting for LALD, but it can't be for the song. Because Cassie and Carly don't even watch the opening songs anyway. They talk over the opening credits. 😂

Caomhan84

Garbage? No. None of the Bond films are total garbage (even the tedious TMWTGG; I don't think one can be a true Bond fan and hate any of the movies). Good? Also, no. Definitely one of Moore's weaker entries, though, and one of the worst picks to watch if one were only watching two movies to get a feel for his interpretation (which is what the girls are doing). That's just my humble opinion of course. Sorry if that rankles, but it's how many of us feel and we are allowed to express that. Better get used to hearing it. I guess you can take some solace (at least a quantum portion of it) that one of your picks has won. You should be happy. Just allow others the freedom to be unhappy about it.

Stick Figure Studios

Lee's Scaramanga was the coolest thing in that movie, best Bond villain ever, imo.

Richard Maurer

Even though LaLD, the song, is one of the best Bond songs ever, the best imo, I doubt many people voted this movie for that reason.

Richard Maurer

Oh, sure. You pick NOW to start listening. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

I understand your skepticism after the results of this poll, but I will bet good money that DAD will not win the Brosnan poll. More people (even non-Bond fans) hate DAD than like LALD.

Stick Figure Studios

I am so sick of this "LaLD is garbage" crap. I've watched all the Moore entries multiple times and I prefer the older rougher movies over the slick newer ones. Especially the "comedy" in the later ones which is so cheesy it makes movies like Moonraker almost unwatchable. The comedy aspects of the first Moore entries weren't great either, but they were offset by the action which was grittier and more believable. I voted for LaLD and Golden Gun, and am only sorry that they both didn't win.

Richard Maurer

Apparently we can. Personally I would have skipped both of them.

Richard Maurer

It’s a crazy world we live in Krusty!🤪

James UK

I’m glad The Spy Who Loved Me is winning. That would be my first choice. I’m am kinda sad A View To a Kill didn’t do better. I would have loved to see Christopher Walken as the baddie!

Robert da Spruce

You and I have discussed this before I think! Freakin Octopussy is underrated! FYEO has no gripe if Octopussy is coming in dead last! 🤣

Krusty “Topher”

Come on, all you boomers keep lamenting the fact that your old boring movies never make it, and now that we vote for the oldest movie on a poll, you are yet again whining. Make up your mind, geezers! :-) :-) :-)

Happy Hanukkah

TSWLM probably is the best of the bunch. But all the others are just different levels of cheese and good fun. I love Moore so I love the cheese! I’d probably throw in Octopussy if I could. Think it’s underrated. But I’m fine with any of the others. Well except View….not as fun to me. And yes I’d watch Man with the Golden Gun for Knick Knack alone! “Oh Monsieur”😏

Krusty “Topher”

I can't see FYEO making up the 80 something votes it needs. We just need to resign ourselves to LALD winning. I have no idea why it's winning and I have no idea where all the fans of this movie are coming from, but this is one of those things. We have to just accept defeat at this point. 😂 Roger is a good Bond and arguably more suave than Connery, which they will enjoy. It's a shame that they have to be introduced to him through LALD.

Caomhan84

I think, if Cassie and Carly are following these posts closely, that they should consider watching the top three winners. If they don't, they are really missing out on FYEO.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

I agree with you @Larry. It is a small positive, unfortunately. And @Stick Figure Studios, I wish I had your confidence. I closely follow the Bond community online and they are a fantastic group of Bond aficionados. Generally, LALD is low to very low on their lists, even among Moore's die hard fans. I still can't believe that LALD has these many votes and is beating, by a considerable margin, arguably one of the best entries in the franchise. That's why I won't be surprised if DAD wins. Won't be surprised at all.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

According to Lee, that thing was hell to put together.

Larry Darrell

For Your Eyes Only is the best Roger Moore film in my opinion as not only is it fun and very entertaining but it’s one of the least over the top and over gadgetry and therefore one of the most realistic of the franchise.

Andrew

The Golden Gun itself is cool. The movie not so much.

Stick Figure Studios

I am still confident that DIE ANOTHER DAY will not be one of the Brosnan winners because not only is it not a good movie, but (unlike LIVE AND LET DIE apparently) nobody likes it. GOLDENEYE will definitely win as it is widely considered Brosnan's best, leaving it between TOMORROW NEVER DIES and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Personally, I'm hoping for the latter.

Stick Figure Studios

You are right, Danny. Alas, the patrons have let Cassie and Carly down.

Stick Figure Studios

Seriously.

Stick Figure Studios

This is a Bummer. I hope your right about your #2 Positive, because the #1 Positive is a Small Positive.

Larry Darrell

Preach it Danny!! Also, for some reason, in my head, I read your post with Ralphie Parker's voice from A Christmas Story. The Structure of your post, reminded me of when Ralphie was writing his "Theme" for the Red Ryder BB Gun. I Like That. Very Straight to the Point. A++++++++ in My Book. Myself and others really wanted For Your Eyes Only too.

Larry Darrell

The George Martin score is fab

Nicholas Brent

If y'all seen their reaction to OHMSS, y'all should be voting for FYEO. Just sayin'.

Bruce

Lol I voted for my 3 favourites, I don't care what wins, I'd enjoy their reactions to all of these films.

Nicholas Brent

All I want to know is when are we getting to "For British Eyes Only" and "Mr. F"?

LuMarq

I think Live and Let Die was one of the weaker entries to the entire series, despite the title song and Jane Seymour. For Your Eyes Only is an much better Bond film and the opening of that movie is a must watch, for continuity reasons. It's a tragedy that they likely won't watch it.

Jeffster

Unless FYEO gets a massive last minute surge, the unthinkable will be inevitable and LALD wins. Positives: 1) Roger Moore's first outing as 007. 2) Roger Moore is always a delight to watch, regardless. Negatives: It's a mediocre, subpar entry in the franchise with a very low re-watchability value. Singling this one out is a disservice to Moore's filmography as Bond and honestly, with the exception of TMWTGG, every other of his films is better IMHO. Also, if GOLDENEYE wins, then PiB would have watched all of the Bond actors' first appearances as 007, except for Connery. All in all, I'm bracing myself now for DIE ANOTHER DAY.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

I thought Octopussy and For Your Eyes Only were fairly decent movies (considerably better than Moonraker and The Spy Who Loved Me were). Perhaps I am clouded by the fact I thought Roger Moore was the worst of all the Bonds (James Bond is supposed to be hard edged and a "man's man" and I just found Moore too effeminate for the role). And yes, een though the sound effect took 2 or 3 seconds, the slide whistle car jump was waaaaay too camp - but it occurred while he had the backwoods southern sherriff in the car (which made that whole sequence campy). It was supposed to be some sort of tip of the cap the Live and Let Die, but it came off poorly. I think I like TMWTGG so much because I thought Christopher Lee as Scaramanga was an excellent villain (probably the best Bond villain in all the Moore films), and Herve Villechaize was great as Nick Nack. Most people think Richard Keil as Jaws was the ultimate Bond villain sidekick, but give me Nick Nack any day. Or Odd Job... who can dislike Odd Job?

Cliff Endicott

I don't know when the last time you watched the boat chase in that movie was, but it's not quite as fast and exciting as you might remember.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, TMWTGG also has its extremely silly/campy elements as well (that slide whistle sound effect for the car jump? Ugh), but the problem is that they clash with the more seriously intended parts. It's a very schizophrenic piece of work and Moore seems more uncomfortable in the role than he does in later entries. Personally, I don't mind the goofier, more light-hearted tone of what Moore ended up doing. I think he's much better at that than he is at trying to be a darker, grittier, more misogynistic "Connery-clone" like he is in his first two movies..Nonetheless, you should really revisit FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. It is the least cartoonish and most down-to-earth of all of Moore's later efforts (by design as it followed the out-of-this-world antics of MOONRAKER). It even has an action scene taken right out of in Fleming's LIVE AND LET DIE book. It is a far more cohesive finished product then the clumsy, awkward, sloppy and at times kind of ugly TMWTGG.

Stick Figure Studios

It's the only Moore outing I can handle, personally. I find everything post 1974 to be too cartoonish to take in any way seriously. The best reviewed one (The Spy Who Loved Me) is embarassing - it is such a cartoon. I found Moonraker to be the worst Bond film by far (which is disappointing, because it had one of the best openings of them all).

Cliff Endicott

They have used the main title song theme as action music in other Bond films as well.

Stick Figure Studios

Personally, I think TMWTGG is not only Moore's worst movie, it's the worst movie of the whole series.

Stick Figure Studios

The song is used as the acton music.

Tommy.J

They use the theme song as the action music. The only time they ever did this in a Bond movie.

Tommy.J

The boat chase was a world record jump at the time.

Tommy.J

My thinking going into the poll was that TSWLM was a lock and that FYEO and LALD was going to be nip and tuck all the way to end. I was half right it seems.

Shawn Kildal

"Slightly?" X-D

Stick Figure Studios

"The Spy Who Loved Me", which I voted for, is basically a remake of Connery's "You Only Live Twice" but is slightly less racist.

Promiscuous

Live and Let Die has the creepy voodoo scenes, the action-packed boat chase, Jayne Seymour, Sheriff Pepper, Quarrel…

Dan Waller

Be careful of those Spoilers, please! She won't be watching it now, but she may watch it later.

Stick Figure Studios

You cannot do spy who loved me and skip moonraker, that is the Jaws arc.

Benjamin Gerrald

I meant that I like Moonraker but it does not look like there is much hope for it and I do kinda agree with Stick Figure.

Captain Caveman

Since there's a Musical Crowd on Patreon this evening, I'll just leave this here. In Honor of Cassie & Carly and Everything They Do For Us, Let's Return the Favor. Give Them a Better Film to Watch than, Live and Let Die, Please and Thank You. I Give you Tom "Thunderball" Jones. Let's Treat Them Right. ;-) Treat Her Right - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkKTMoRs-TU

Larry Darrell

Hah, hah. Just had an idea. Gonna post something further down the thread.

Larry Darrell

I feel the same way about Moonraker

Captain Caveman

Also, Kotto is (as usual) great, but without spoiling anything, can I just say that what they ultimately do with his character is really, really stupid.

Stick Figure Studios

I think you would enjoy the Love story of Jaws in Moonraker.

Captain Caveman

And the hilarious antics of JW Pepper!

Stick Figure Studios

As a kid, I thought that golden gun was the coolest thing ever. I still think it's cool. But over time, Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me held

jeffrey bruce

The absolutely worst thing? This will come just too late to count as a Black History Month movie! 😆

Happy Hanukkah

I consider TMWTGG to be not only Moore's worst Bond movie but the worst one in the entire franchise.

Stick Figure Studios

yep, seems i'm also at odds with the popular vote. Man with the golden gun is a fantastic movie. I kinda wish that voters didn't have the ability to see how many votes have been cast and for what movie until after voting ends for everyone for a true blind test. Theres no point in me voting now.

rakesh

How on earth is Man with the Golden Gun doing so poorly? That's easily the best Roger Moore Bond film.

Cody Nelson

Agreed, Stick. Moore's first Two films do not paint him in a Good Light. Ugly is Right. I have my own Narrative that I've created over the years, and I can account for his attitude and behavior, due mostly to the Death of Tracy. I'll go into that later. But I was hoping to not have to, because it's such a low point in James Bond's life. I attribute this period to Tom Mankiewicz. He did not pick up on the subtleties of James Bond's Character, that Richard Maibaum had created. Mankiewicz overhauled Maibaum's Diamonds script after the fact, and wrote Live and Let Die all by himself. Don't know for sure, but I assume there wasn't a lot of collaboration on Golden Gun either. If The Girls are only going to watch Two Films, there's no need to go down this road. After having, I think, a Very Positive experience with George Lazenby, there's a risk of souring their opinion of Roger Moore's James Bond. It's too far a fall, and The Spy Who Loved Me, Alone, may not be enough to Recover. Live and Let Die is not indicative of the Roger Moore Bond that everyone likes to describe. Suave, Smooth, Gentlemanly, Fun. This is how people remember Roger Moore, and it's the image you're supposed to be used to when you meet Timothy Dalton's James Bond, which is darker, moodier and certainly more serious. When The Girls get to The Living Daylights, I'm afraid they will not have been impressed with Roger Moore or have a clear idea of who his James Bond is, unless they see another of his, after Spy Who Loved Me. Dang it, For Your Eyes Only would be Perfect for Them. There's Ice Skating for Crying Out Loud. Then They could watch Ice Castles (1978).

Larry Darrell

@Happy Hanukkah: I think you may be right.

Stick Figure Studios

It's not that the movie doesn't have some good individual elements, it's that the feature as a whole is one of Moore's weaker efforts and not a good representation of his era. For every positive thing someone can name about LALD, I can mention three about FYEO.

Stick Figure Studios

We need to See More of Jane!

Marc Peterson

You got to love Yaphet Kotto and who doesn’t love 22 year old Jane Seymour as Solitaire??

Marc Peterson

Hey, why not, Krusty? Might as well. Doesn't make much of a difference now anyway. FYEO really has no chance of catching up. Pardon me, though, while I go bang my head against the wall until my brain oozes out of my ears. :-/

Stick Figure Studios

I did not vote for it (though I'm not as outraged or mystified as others here). But if I had, that intro funeral scene would have been the deciding factor. (Obviously, it's only one short standalone scene, yadda yadda...) (Given the changes since I last looked at the poll, I wouldn't be surprised if some people haven't been voting for LaLD out of sheer contrariness.) (Such Mavericks! :-) )

Happy Hanukkah

Colin, that was the joke, which obviously didn't come across well. Oh well, at least we'll always have that glorious duet at the Grammies, where Axl Rose and Roger Moore (in full Bond regalia) performed the song together.

Happy Hanukkah

Not you too.

James1035

I’ve just convinced myself! Changing votes!🤣

Krusty “Topher”

Everyone’s voting for it for the Guinness book of records boat jump!!! Oh and the song…. And hot Bond girl…. And…😀

Krusty “Topher”

Great idea Mike. I like it a lot

James1035

Or how about a make up poll of the top Connery runner up (Dr. No) against the third place Moore (apparently FYEO) against the third place Brosnan flick?

Mike LL

After Connery's, I actually think Dalton has the best on-screen intro, but we'll get to go that soon enough.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes you. Craig has one good movie. His whole arc is pretty terrible actually.

James1035

Its a song that has a 50/50 chance of not being recognized and since its during the credits most likely won't be given much attention.

James1035

No intro will ever be as iconic as Connery's so they really aren't necessary viewing. I guess Craig's may be an exception since it has continuity.

James1035

No question about it. Now how do you feel about For Your Eyes Only?

Larry Darrell

And James Bond, the Cad.

Larry Darrell

To add insult to injury, I actually think that Roger Moore has the weakest on-screen introduction of all the actors debuting as Bond. He's not even in the pre-title sequence.

Stick Figure Studios

I agree. The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes only are his best and the ones I voted for. I think viewing Dr No made a lot more sense then viewing Live and Let Die since it was the introduction of the character. Even though its Moore's first its still just a Bond movie. There's nothing special like Dr No's intro was.

James1035

I think, as others have surmised, that it's a mix of that, and folks feeling that since it's Roger's first, it's required viewing. While I love LALD very much, it isn't better than FYEO, and frankly I think Cassie and her sister won't enjoy it as much as they would FYEO. It's a much more dated entry, and certain characters, I think, will get on their nerves (no spoilers).

Bruce

I agree, Bruce. Right after finishing their reaction to OHMSS, I started to get a little excited about them seeing the pre-title sequence to FYEO. Alas, now it looks like it will not be. Way to go, Patreon. :-/

Stick Figure Studios

Well, I was only half-joking. I only just became a patron to vote in the Roger Moore poll--didn't know it had gotten that close for Dr. No (which shocks me, as I think that FRWL and GF are clearly the two must-watch of Connery's tenure).

Bruce

If they didn't watch DR NO as a third Connery title (even though it only lost to FRWL by only one point), they're not going to rob from Peter to pay Paul (or rather from Pierce to pay Roger) to get in a third Moore entry. I fear that ship has sailed. :-(

Stick Figure Studios

So I'm dying to know are people fans of Live and Let Die the movie or are they voting for it because of the song?

James1035

Craig is my least favorite Bond

James1035

Since it looks like FYEO doesn't have much chance, I vote a new scenario--the ladies watch 3 Moore movies and only GoldenEye for Brosnan! :-P No hate to Pierce, but if you're not watching every film in the series, I think his three later movies are easily skippable, and I'd still think FYEO would win in a poll against them. Although I suppose the topic of certain Bond movies being "skippable" is a whole can of worms amongst fans LOL

Bruce

The song is super overrated too

Aaron Ritchie

They didn't. Paul McCartney did the song which Guns N' Roses covered years later.

Colin Gutierrez

I do love LALD, as I love all of Roger's films, but objectively, it wouldn't be one I'd recommend in a scenario such as this. FYEO was a great thriller in the tradition of FRWL and OHMSS--honestly, FYEO is my favorite in the whole series and sports some of the most spectacular stunts and action of the classic era. Besides, the pre-title sequence of FYEO (no spoilers) is a must-watch for folks following the series' continuity, as minimal as it may be.

Bruce

If you watch both The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker you get a nice little payoff joke at the end of the latter.

Colin Gutierrez

@ Stick Figures - right on !!!!

Bill Maurer

A lot of fans and critics cite Daniel Craig's "Bond" performance very much to Timothy Dalton's performance as Bond. So you can watch the both of them and compare

Bill Maurer

Yeah, Cassie won't even be able to play the song due to copyright.

Joe

It will be.

Tim Raths

If you’re voting for Live and Let Die just for the title song then you’re voting for all the wrong reasons. This is a movie reaction channel not a music reaction channel.

Tim Raths

The Spy Who Loved Me must be one of the choices. It just must. Not just a great Roger Moore Bond film, but a great Bond film period.

Odd Thomas

This is a movie reaction channel not a music reaction channel.

Tim Raths

smh

Mike LL

For Your Eyes Only features Topol, who passed away last week. He's best known for his Oscar-nominated starring role in the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof (1971) and for contributing to the goofy fun of Flash Gordon (1980).

Happy Hanukkah

Completely agree. You know what is missing in our list of the 3 best Moore movies? LALD

Mike LL

Stick, you made me laugh out loud!! 😂

Mike LL

Live and Let Die for the Paul McCartney theme song and 22 year old Jane Seymour as Solitaire!!!

Marc Peterson

It's not unusual, Larry. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

You rewind and re-play those 3 minutes for 2 hours. Duh! :-) I'll admit I wasn't aware Guns N' Roses had done a James Bond theme song. :-| The intro with the gospel medley might be my favorite Bond scene.

Happy Hanukkah

Totally agree. Spy because it's an amazing ride from start to finish and Eyes to get them some closure after OHMSS.

Ian Cano

Sorry, did not mean to give offense to anyone. Yes, the presence of those films are a puzzle that no one has an answer to.

Mike LL

It is a great song, but you do realize that that's 3 minutes of a 2-hour movie, right? What if the rest of the movie sucks?

Stick Figure Studios

Where were these people on Thunderball? Guess no one’s a Tom Jones Fan.

Larry Darrell

Exactly Jon! It’s Madness!

Larry Darrell

Although I do enjoy The Man With The Golden Gun, Moonraker, and A View To A Kill, The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only are the two best Roger Moore Bond movies.

Dustin Denner

Oh, and I forgot to add, those voting for songs have forgotten that Cassie & Carly are busy eating snacks and chatting during the songs, and skip the credits, so... Why vote for favorite songs!?

Jon Johns

You are not alone, but we are like two rats in a barrel 😉😜

Jon Johns

I agree here. I love Michelle, even if I don't care for that film as much.

Jon Johns

LOL, Mike LL trying to see 'reason' behind any bond movie choices is adorbs. 😘😂

Jon Johns

I enjoy the John Cranberry comments that are less moody, brooding, and dark. His lighter more suave comments are usually more fun. Also, real cranberries are red, not brunette.

Jon Johns

The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only & Octopussy :)

James Ayrey

The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Moore film in the franchise.

Joseph Voigt

If you didn't live in the 70s what you don't know about Roger Moore is he wasn't just famous for being Bond but he was still riding high from playing Simon Templar "The Saint". A classic tv series that ran in the 60s, the reruns played endlessly in the 70s. Roger also played Beau Maverick in the classic tv series "Maverick".

Tommy.J

Live and Let Die just for the music alone. It is the best Bond Song.

Tommy.J

Nice Poll

Michael John McDaniel

@ Sean - I will second that vote for Carole Bouquet. The female lead in Thunderball - Claudine Auger would give her a run for her money

Bill Maurer

I voted for my two favorites: Live and Let Die and Octopussy. I'm sorry Octopussy got so few votes :(

Jim Williams

Thunderball, 2nd highest grossing Bond movie when counted for inflation only Skyfall grossed more.

Bill Maurer

She sounds like an excellent person with wonderful taste! John Taylor was my first celeb love and I had him all over my walls too! Lol 😂

Julie

Julie... my youngest sister and you would have been best friends. She is a huge Duran Duran fan. Back in the day, she would constantly played their music complete with John Taylor posters all over her bedroom walls. Somehow I managed to survive her obsessiveness and have grown to appreciate them. ☺️

Robin Craft

Well we all have our things that make us silly 😁

Julie

To be honest I went back and forth between EYES & LIVE. Both are great, but I went with LIVE because it was Moore’s first. I gotta keep VIEW but will add EYES vote

Julie

Thunderball and Octopussy are overlooked IMHO.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Sadly, you're forgetting Thunderball which cemented Q and the gagits.

MJS

Hey guys. Imo every one of em is good it their own right. Id be a fan of watching them all in a row, but, thats not what youre doing. Its all good. The top 3 from what Im seeing at this moment seems about pretty spot on with popularity over the years. Im good with wtvr comes down 'from above' lol. Thanks guys! Love the reactions! Great to see someone seeing this for the first time. Would love to have more people like you around, but, it was not meant to pass! =)P Roger Moore and Sean Connery were always my favs because I grew up with them mostly...at least round my house. Took me awhile to 'warm up' to most of the actors afterwards. For years I didnt watch any. No particular reason. Just different time in my life I spose.

pkleo73

TSWLM and FYEO for me. Those two are the most acclaimed of the Moore run for a reason: they're simply great films and Moore is at his best in both of them.

Matt Rose

Seriously something wrong. It has to be the song. For Your Eyes Only is such a better movie

James1035

Roger Moore is my favourite James Bond and can't wait for Cassie and Carly to react to two of them. FUN FACT: David Bowie turned down the main villain role of Max Zorin in Moore's final Bond film, A View to a Kill (1985), because he thought it was a terrible script. Christopher Walken played the role instead.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I voted for The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only. Easily his two best Bond movies. Can’t believe Live and Let Die is doing so well.

James1035

The only Moore outing I thought was a truly good movie was "The Man With the Golden Gun". "Live and Let Die" is my second favorite of his - before they turned into gadget-oriented schlock-fests. It already looks like "Golden Gun" has zero chance, but it really is Moore's best Bond.

Cliff Endicott

TSWLM is the obvious choice, as it is clearly the most representative of Moore’s run. But FYEO will always be my favorite of the Moore films. So I voted for those two.

DoomsdayMachine

Mike LL not payiing attention, or we have other things that occupy our time, so we don't watch every single video that gets uploaded. I was going off her Letterboxed site which had all 3 movies listed.

Bill W

Yes. What you said. I think this has turned into a Best Song vote.

Mike LL

Since we are only getting to see two movies, I voted for TSPWLM and FYEO. Since you voted for LALD, you won't get to see FYEO. You see how that works?

Mike LL

Some non-Bond fans are voting for the song. Some Bond fans actually like it better. Not sure of the percentages here on all that, but it all adds up.

Mike LL

LALD is so awful it's hard to believe so many people enjoy it. FYEO is like a (welcome) one-time return to Bond minimalism, especially after MOONRAKER.

Dave Sees Movies

Are . . . are people voting . . . for the SONGS???!?!?! What madness is this?

Mike LL

Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.

Nicholas Brent

Oh boy is something seriously wrong.

Mike LL

Something is seriously wrong.

Stick Figure Studios

If FOR YOUR EYES ONLY doesn’t get 2nd place something is seriously wrong.

Jeremy Rickard

OCTOPUSSY (1983) will always get my vote. It’s my first and favorite Bond movie. Criminally underrated. Moore was within his element in this one (just like TSWLM and MOONRAKER before it).

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Hmmm, so TMWTGG (1974) and AVTAK (1985) have more votes than OCTOPUSSY (1983). How interesting?!🤨. Duran Duran did give us one kick-ass theme song, I tell you that.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Really can't wait for Cassie to watch them though. Let's see how she reacts.

John Cranberry

@Larry: Part of the problem with LALD and TMWTGG (besides their general clumsiness and, quite frankly, ugliness) is that the producers didn't quite know yet what to do with Moore as Bond, so they made the same mistake they did with Lazenby in trying to make him too "Connery-like" and the result is awkward at best. It led to a weird schizophrenic tone where the campy humor and the gritty darkness did not cohere elegantly but often clashed. TSWLM was the first time Moore really came into his own as the character and the fantasy/humor aspects got emphasized... sometimes they got emphasized too much in subsequent films, but they were at least more consistent products henceforth and Moore never looked uncomfortable in the role again. That's one of the reasons why all of his films after TSWLM (even the weaker ones) are superior to his first two.

Stick Figure Studios

I don’t hate it but they didn’t really know what to do with Moore at that time imho. TSWLM was when his era properly started.

James UK

Same here. Third Place. Solid Spy Story. Always suspected the Name turns people off.

Larry Darrell

I have a soft spot for LALD as an 8 year old being taken to the local cinema to see it. And piping up " I bet he's dead" to one of the speedboat crashes to some laughter in the cinema :)

Simeon Tankard

Moonraker is my favorite of this batch. It's underrated, in my opinion.

Daniel Roberts

That's the thing. He wasn't necessarily "Romantic" yet, or found his comedic groove yet.

Larry Darrell

I just voted for it because of the soundtrack, not that they need to hear it

Hankster

It is very late, maybe our Peeps have already gone to bed. :-)

Larry Darrell

The Spy Who Loved Me & For Your Eyes Only Pound for Pound the Best Films for Cassie & Carly's Enjoyment. Great Songs, Great Stories, Great Characters, Great Locations, Great Romances. We Want The Girls to Want to Come Back to the Films that they skipped. These films have the Better Chance of Assuring This.

Larry Darrell

It is easily my third pick among Moore's movies and very surprised to see it dead last. Already gave it my sympathy vote.😉

Gábor Árki

@Larry: And I'm back to wishing they had done three Connerys and three Moores. Then we would also have had DR NO and FYEO.

Stick Figure Studios

@Aaron: While that makes a kind of sense, I really hope that's not the case. I will be really disappointed in the patrons if that's true.

Stick Figure Studios

It's the Song. I love the Song too. I love the Main Titles Sequence. But that is not enough reason to vote for the whole movie, especially when The Girls have yet to pay attention to a single Main Titles Sequence. Pair the Song with a bunch of people that aren't totally familiar with the Bond movies, and this what you get. Now I'm back to really wanting them to watch all of them, so that we don't have to go down the road like this, Yelling At Each Other!!

Larry Darrell

It’s an awful film. I think people are only voting for it cos they like the theme song.

Aaron Ritchie

Now, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY: there's a Bond movie with an actual romance!

Stick Figure Studios

I'm not so sure you can call it a "Romance." They may have another word for it.

Larry Darrell

Dear God.

Stick Figure Studios

If it wins, you and everyone else, is going to have to convince The Girls to actually watch the Main Titles or as they call them, "The Long Intros,"

Larry Darrell

@Larry: it's a kick-ass song certainly, but I hope to God that's not the only reason people are choosing it.

Stick Figure Studios

You're killing me, John. You're killing me.

Stick Figure Studios

@Larry: there's still a chance. Days left for it to turn around.

Stick Figure Studios

People are voting for the Songs I think.

Larry Darrell

@Larry: I've thought the same thing.

Stick Figure Studios

If you Music Lovers can get The Girls to actually watch the Main Titles Sequence, then that would be a Plus+ I guess. Otherwise, the songs are not a good enough reason to vote for a certain film.

Larry Darrell

All of Roger Moore's movies have "the best stunts." That is not a characteristic unique to LALD.

Stick Figure Studios

@Kevin: Craig has two great movies, one good movie, one fair movie and one poor movie.

Stick Figure Studios

@TwistedMagoo: Sounds like someone really needs to revisit the Dalton entries.

Stick Figure Studios

Is the Title Song why people are voting for it? They talk over the Titles anyways.

Larry Darrell

Larry, Cassie will love LALD because it has JS in it and she will love the romance. And she will appreciate the comedy aspect of Moore's Bond. Trust me on this.

John Cranberry

She will.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I'm surprised that even AVTAK is ahead of that one. I truly think that's one of Moore's most underrated efforts and tend to just assume that anyone who doesn't like it (or doesn't remember much about it) simply hasn't watched it in a long time.

Stick Figure Studios

Is Figure Skating a selling point?

Larry Darrell

As long as LALD and TSWLM win then I am happy chappie.

John Cranberry

If Cassie starts with Live and Let Die or Man with the Golden Gun, I hope her impression of Roger Moore is not harmed. Like you said, The Spy Who Loved Me is when Moore finally found his Groove. Before that... I don't want to say.

Larry Darrell

I am going to Gaslight anyone who hates LALD. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

John Cranberry

LALD will definitely make it!

John Cranberry

Sheena, Simon and Mccartny wrote epic songs.

John Cranberry

😂 I don't know if that is a good enough reason to vote for that film.

John Cranberry

Daniel Craig sucks

John Cranberry

Well done sir. Moore was the best.

John Cranberry

And, I bet you anything it is Cassie's favorite because of the romance with you know who!

John Cranberry

There’s not enough love for Octopussy in this poll. Yes, it’s a gooey cheesy pizza of a movie, but good fun. A comfortable 3rd place for me, behind TSWLM and FYEO.

James UK

Best Song and best stunts!!! Go cry in the corner.

John Cranberry

CASSIE!!! Watch them in year order please!!!!

John Cranberry

Me too, they all sucked rotten eggs. 🤣🤣🤣

John Cranberry

Mystified!!! LALD is awesome!!!!! Has some of the best stunts!!!

John Cranberry

Same.

Stick Figure Studios

TSWLM has the skiing opening scene which is also unreal!!! Moore films are the best IMO. I never get tired of them. The Boat and car chases, JAWS and so much more.

John Cranberry

skip all the Roger Moore, absolutely, but you can't skip Brosnan's good movie, Goldeneye...the first halfway decent Bond movie since Sean Connery was in the role.

TwistedMagoo

Me Fourth. Did not expect Live and Let Die

Larry Darrell

Was looking forward to them meeting Bibi.

Larry Darrell

I'm not so sure Cassie & Carly understand the significance of the Main Titles Sequence yet. I'm still hoping.

Larry Darrell

As with Connery it’s tough to vote for just 2, but if I must. The Spy Who Loved Me for the win. It’s Moore’s Goldfinger. Second, For Your Eyes Only although I’ve always really enjoyed Octopussy as well.

James UK

Daniel Craig has one good movie.

Kevin Charley

Good point, Bill. I just assumed her first vote was probably for TSWLM like everyone else. What do you say, Julie? Did you also vote for FYEO?

Stick Figure Studios

Stick Figure Studios - You can vote for more than 1 film. Maybe he also voted for FYEO.

Bill W

@Caomhan84: Yeah, it's not a strong intro for Moore (he isn't even in the pre-title sequence). It's also the only Bond movie before 2007's CASINO ROYALE to not have Q in it for some unfathomable reason. It has a couple good elements (like McCartney's main title song) and it's not as bad as TMWTGG, but it.is not a good movie.

Stick Figure Studios

LALD best opening theme.

Bill W

LALD > MR, OP and TMWTGG.

Bill W

TinCan Cosmanaut - you are an island.

Richard Maurer

People who like LaLD. I know it's shocking, but not everybody just goes along with what the critics say are the best Bond films and actually have their own favorites.

Richard Maurer

It's so weird. Like....okay, so it's Moore's first movie and Jane Seymour looks incredible in it, but otherwise it has very few good qualities. It's weird "Bond does blaxploitation". And it doesn't give a viewer a good feel of Roger in the role as opposed to the later ones. This isn't like, say, GoldenEye (which was a winner out of the gate). Perhaps people are seeing it in the lead and just vote for it anyway.

Caomhan84

I've never really liked TND. No, it's not nearly as bad as DAD, but I've always found it very mechanical and tedious. It may have relentless action, but I find that actually gets kind of boring after a while. Yes, Michelle Yeoh is great, but she's only in about half of it. There's also Teri Hatcher to contend with. Ugh.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes. Thankfully.

Stick Figure Studios

She is stunning indeed, and even as a Bond girl one of the best in the entire series IMO.

Gábor Árki

Would you consider changing your vote to one that actually has a chance of winning? Namely, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY? It could still beat LIVE AND LET DIE!

Stick Figure Studios

I personally would be fine with both TND and TWINE. The latter certainly has a more unique and memorable villain, but Michelle Yeoh is such a great addition to TND. Still haven't decided where my vote will go.

Gábor Árki

Am I the only one who wants to skip all these and get to Daniel Craig movies?

TinCan Cosmanaut

Lots of people unfortunately. I am mystified.

Stick Figure Studios

Who the hell is voting for Live and Let Die? This is absurd.

Tim Raths

I'm fairly confident it won't be DAD, but you never know. I do fear that TND has a good shot.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, after this poll I presume getting Die Another Day as one of the winners is no longer out of question. 🤨

Gábor Árki

For Your Eyes Only convinced me that Carole Bouquet is the most beautiful woman to ever set foot on Planet Earth

Sean Novack

Moonraker I would have understood knowing it has a very dedicated fanbase. But LALD, by a landslide? It just doesn't compute.

Gábor Árki

And don't forget Jaws.

Stick Figure Studios

@Phil: That car jump is actually in MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.

Stick Figure Studios

Yup, that's always been my favorite Roger Moore Bond. Perhaps it's mostly the Lotus... 😁

Phil Stubblefield

@Drew: That one would be my preference as well.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm not much of a fan of LALD, but to say Moonraker is better?!? That may be one of my least favorite Bond movies ever -- and there are a lot of silly Bond movies! Although -- SPOILERS! -- Mookraker does have one of the best villain redemptions! :)

Phil Stubblefield

Agreed, LALD isn't a great movie, but it's all about: (1) Roger Moore's introduction, (2) that great boat chase, and (3) that *insane* car jump -- which is real, not CGI, but which they ruined with that stoooopid slide-whistle sound! (See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD_5Gg-i3BM)

Phil Stubblefield

I wouldn't mind The World is Not Enough for the second Brosnan.

Drew

Given the way this one is going, I'm now starting to get pessimistic about the Brosnan poll. Obviously GOLDENEYE will win (as it should) but who knows what will get number two?

Stick Figure Studios

Yes, both. Then two Brosnan (voted on by us), then all of the Craig entries.

Gabriel L.

Is she going to watch the Dalton films?

SuicuneSol

I would gladly take FYEO as #2. I don't love it but it's a relatively good Moore entry.

Gabriel L.

I want FYEO to be number two, but I would easily take MR over LALD.

Stick Figure Studios

They said that it was their plan to watch all the Craig entries.

Gabriel L.

It was his first, but also one of his worst, IMHO.

Gabriel L.

TSWLM + MR would be the perfect pair of Moore films. Good & silly, the latter a pseudo-sequel to the former.

Gabriel L.

I don't get it either. LALD is a movie I've never liked.

Caomhan84

Moore's movies had the best songs. Closest competitor is Brosnan's "The World Is Not Enough."

sarCC

Voters, *please* don't let Live and Let Die into the top two. It's one of the worst Bond movies in multiple ways (IMHO of course). It doesn't even have a strong intro for Moore's first Bond film, there is zero reason to pick it for that reason. The Spy Who Loved Me is an obvious #1 pick, but for #2 I'd go with Moonraker for peak silly fun (and a pseudo-sequel to TSWLM).

Gabriel L.

100%!

Julie

Yeah. Really wild. I LOVE Yaphet Kotto, but, ooft, what an unfortunate role to have to play.

sarCC

Same. Plus, Christopher Walken AND Grace Jones!!!!

sarCC

I'm now back to wishing that they had done three Connerys and three Moores.

Stick Figure Studios

I know. it's madness. If it wasn't FYEO, MR and OP I would have been fine with (or heck, even AVTAK), but not LALD.

Stick Figure Studios

For Your Eyes Only is the best of his films but if you really want to get a feel for the Moore era than the spy who loved me, moonraker, live and let die, and golden gun are probably better.

Christopher Campbell

I’m so excited to see your reaction to Roger Moore’s Bond. He’s always been my favorite. Definitely would love to see your reaction to The Spy Who Loved Me.

Adam Grunther

I don’t quite understand why Live and Let Die is getting so many votes. No one could convince me it is better than For Your Eyes Only or even Octopussy! Even Moonraker is better than LALD!!!

Mike LL

Loved Roger Moore way back when he played The Saint anyway one of my votes goes to Live and let die just for the Paul McCartney title track

Hankster

The spy who loved me was the first movie I saw for James bond. Loved it

Richard Jaudon

Hope is kindled!

JC762

Some people are just not paying attention. Cassie has said quite recently that she has NOT seen any of the Austin Powers movies. We have that to look forward to!

Mike LL

I don't even remember what most of these are about, except for "The Man With the Golden Gun". That's the one with Christopher Lee. I always found the Moore era to be a little silly. I realize there's an element of that in all Bond films, but they seemed to stand out in that regard. I will say when you get to Daniel Craig, I think you should watch all of them.

Texas Anla'Shok

Yeah, I don't get it. At all. I'm extremely disappointed. The only rationale I can come up with is that people must think that she should see Roger Moore's first Bond movie in spite of it being one of his weakest.(seriously, it was not a great debut).

Stick Figure Studios

Live and Let Die is winning over For Your Eyes Only, and it's not even close? I'm speechless, I always found it to be one of the weakest Moore movies.

Gábor Árki

TMWTGG was pretty good too. 💁‍♀️

John Cranberry

TMWTGG has one of the best stunts. But LALD is a must!!!🥳

John Cranberry

Me three, shocked at the early voting.

Mike LL

The top 3 are the best ones to watch. RM was the best bond IMO. 💋

John Cranberry

I agree wholeheartedly with you on JW Pepper. Why they even brought him back for MwtGG is mind boggling.

Bill Maurer

Not sure that's a selling point to them right now, but I really do hope that FYEO is the second one.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm a Duran Duran fan so I have to give A View to a Kill a vote

Julie

Spy who loved me is the best

Neil Varma

That’s almost as bad as seeing galaxy quest before Star Trek! LoL. 🤭

JC762

I agree about "Nobody Does it Better."

Stick Figure Studios

Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only.. the 3 best Moore films. A View To A Kill also not bad. The other 3, meh.

Bill W

No she hasn't. It's been confirmed durning premieres that the ladies have not watched Austin Powers.

David Freese

I don't hate it as much as TMWTGG, but I also really hope that it does not make it.

Stick Figure Studios

Agree with Moore in TSWLM. That was his best. FYEO is a good overall movie, take Bond away from it and it still stands as a good movie.

Bill Maurer

The Spy Who Loved Me has the best song of all the Bond movies, followed only by Sheena Easton's "For Your Eyes Only". Adele comes after anything by Dame Shirley Bassey. Two of the best Moore Bond films and the ones I am voting for.

Bill Maurer

I really hope Live and Let Die doesn’t make it into the top two, it’s my most hated film. I can’t with the blacksploitation and voodoo magic angle, not to mention the worst character of all time, J.W. Pepper.

Aaron Ritchie

Agreed.

Stick Figure Studios

It's a terrific one. I watched it all the time as a kid.

Stick Figure Studios

Me too, but it's early yet. Hopefully it will do better.

Stick Figure Studios

Mine too.

Stick Figure Studios

The best songs.

Tommy.J

Duran Duran, one of the best songs. And it’s hard to watch some of the films without the previous film setup. The jokes don’t hit without setup

Peter MacColeman

Just a reminder that "For Your Eyes Only" has very nice connectivity with "OHMSS," as short as it may be. "Spy" will be one of the winners regardless, but I think the ladies might enjoy FYEO "moore" for it's greater connection. Food for thought!

Bruce

I’m disappointed to see how poorly For Your Eyes Only is doing as it’s my favorite from the Roger Moore era.

Tim Raths

Live and Let Die was EON's (the production company) take of a "Black Exploitation" film like "Blackula" and "Superfly". It's a little cringe-worthy by today's standards, but it does have some memorable characters and some incredible stunts (Real Alligators!). I personally voted for "For Eyes Only" as my second choice behind the Fantastic "The Spy Who Loved Me", as I liked the setting of the Ski Resort.

Chris Davis

You mean the Moore era. Yes..Paul McCartney, Sheena Easton, Carly Simon, Duran Duran!

Bill W

It's a good movie overall. Bond or no Bond

Bill Maurer

According to her Letterboxd it looks like she’s already seen those.

Tim Raths

Okay. This is exciting. Now we're getting into the era of my inaugural Bond. When I was 7 years old visiting family in New Jersey, my father took me to see my first Bond movie. (Roger Moore's OCTOPUSSY). "Do you want to go see a James Bond movie?" He asked me one afternoon out of the blue. I had no idea who James Bond was. I thought he was talking about an actor. He could have said, "Do you want to go see a John Wayne movie?" for all the difference it would have made to me, but I said yes and I was blown away by it. The action, the humor, the spectacle of it all and, of course, the super cool, smooth and handsome Roger Moore himself. I became an instant fan and wanted to see every Bond movie ever after that. I have since watched every subsequent Bond film in the theater. Moore's take on Bond is considerably lighter than both Connery and Lazenby (he is even more suave than Connery if you can believe it). He did not take it at all seriously, so his interpretation emphasizes the humor and inherent absurdity of such a character. His movies are incredibly silly, but that is also what makes them utterly charming and immensely fun. People may look down on "camp" nowadays (finding Moore's Bond, not unlike Adam West's Batman, to be childish and silly), but they can still be sophisticated and enjoyable entertainment. The stuntwork in them, as compared with previous movies, also takes quite a leap forward. Although a part of me would love it if you watch OCTOPUSSY as I have a special place in my heart for that one (being my introduction to this character and his world), my votes are going for THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, which I consider is two strongest entries. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is especially good as it was the one where Moorre finally nailed down his take on the character. It is generally considered Roger's best outing. It was his GOLDFINGER.

Stick Figure Studios

Not my favorite Bond movie but definitely my favorite from the Roger Moore era.

Tim Raths

Hmmmm. I guess popcornrequests needs an update.

JC762

Bill W

Nice! The bond I started with as a kid is the one winning (at the time of this post: Spy Who Loved Me)

Todzilla

Well LIVE AND LET DIE was Roger Moore's first 007 movie of the 70's!

Brandon Gibbs

Moonraker's fun - but it works best after The Spy Who Loved Me

Michael Jung

I sure hope Cassie will consider Austin Powers after the Bonds are done. Pure stupid quotable fun.

JC762

I would be good with any of these

Mark Sylvester

Really excited for you two to watch The Spy Who Loved Me!! It’s easily one of my favorites in the series! My second choice would be Moonraker, it’s a really fun one, but I’m honestly good with any of the others 😄 Can’t wait!

Damion Nightfire

I think you are wise to limit yourselves to only 2 of the Roger Moore films. I watched them all when they came out, but they don't hold up very well. They are SOOOO campy. The Sean Connery films generally had better plots andialogue, and you can sort of forgive their rampant misogyny as a reflection of the time they were made. The first Timothy Dalton 007 film ("The Living Daylights") is quite good. I'd go easy on the Pierce Brosnan films, a couple of those is probably all you need. You *must* watch *all* the Daniel Craig films! They are the BEST!

Michael Gilbrook

We're moving on, friend. Let It go.

Stick Figure Studios

For Your Eyes Only isn’t mentioned enough. But it’s very fun.

Alex Villarreal

You have chosen wisely !!

Bill Maurer

... No Dr No?

Benjamin Gerrald

Roger Moore was always my favorite Bond and Spy Who Loved Me was always my favorite Bond film.

Stranger2Reality

For Your Eyes Only is my all time favorite Bond film.

Matthew Hines

Ah finally the best Bond. 🤣 100% the spy who loved me.

Tanner

I think you are at a disadvantage on picking two. Some of the better music of the series was in the bond era.

Peter MacColeman

For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved Me are my choices.

Tim Raths
