Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - Full Reaction

Well it was fun to get back into the MCU! Man this made me miss Chadwick Boseman though, he WAS the Black Panther! Woah new planet/species, was not expecting that. Overall we liked it, but I don't think I LOVED it.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - Full Reaction

Comments

First time I'm watching this now, haven't quite brought myself to seeing this yet, glad I have company here.

JPDotCom23

So even though some didn't like Quantumania, I'm sure you guys will like it. The father daughter stuff with Scott and Cassy is always nice. We all know this reaction channel isn't about being a film critic, but about being film fans. 😀 Now that the Christmas season is over, I hope to see you ladies return to the MCU again soon. Edit: Oh! I just realized I don't think you've reacted to the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! How did that happen?! Awwwww. Now we've gotta wait another whole year for it to be relevant.

YodatheHobbit

Namor was first introduced in marvel in like 1940 or something. Also the ocean is an average of about 2.4 miles deep that goes deeper in other places

Tonio

Yeah, I said what I needed to say so I'm done too.

Richard Maurer

Ok I’m done with this. Your INTERPRETATION of my remarks is absurd on its face. I never made any statement to the effect that ALL MCU movies since the last Avengers were bad and no rational person would read my statement in such a way. It’s unfortunate that you take such umbrage to the idea that others might have opinions contrary to your own and continue to feel the need to try to ascribe ridiculous motivations to those with whom you disagree, instead of simply acknowledging that they don’t agree with you.

Just Plain Bob

The first sentence in your op is "MCU has been just awful since the Infinity Stones saga concluded" which anyone would interpret to mean you think it's all bad. If you don't think it's all bad then say what you mean instead of making broad, overarching statements that people are bound to misinterpret, unless that's what you wanted in the first place. In your previous comment, you actually just reaffirmed your first statement, then admitted that I was right about it not being all bad. And you wonder why you're being misunderstood? Also, I stand by my statement, arrogant or not, that there really hasn't been noticeable decline in the MCU, it's just that people's perception of decline is skewed by their expectations. In other words people like yourself are looking for MCU to be what you think it was for the first 3 phases, and that was never going to happen. Much like how many OG Star Wars fans disliked the prequels and talked about how bad they were when in truth they had just built the original trilogy up in their minds to such a point that nothing less than perfection would have satisfied them. Meanwhile the original trilogy wasn't even close to perfect itself.

Richard Maurer

Your arrogance is astounding. You seem to believe that your opinion should reign supreme and everyone else should be required to agree. My opinion is that the MCU has been awful the last few years. Statements such as “overall decline is not possible” are absurd. Of course it’s possible. By the way, I never said that every single movie since the Infinity Stones saga was subpar or bad. But I do believe there’s been an overall decline. Many others agree with me. You disagree, which is fine. But, for some reason, you feel the need to impugn the motivations of those with whom you disagree and speak of the quality of the MCU as if it were objective fact and not opinion or, worse yet, as if you were the sole arbiter of cinematic quality and no one else was allowed an opinion of their own.

Just Plain Bob

No, this overall decline is not possible because it's just not there. If you (or anyone) were to to say various MCU releases were subpar or bad I might agree depending on which ones were being talked about, but EVERY MCU project since phase three is bad? Sorry, but that is just not true, it's not even realistic, anymore than saying everything in phase 4 has been great is realistic. Just being a hater isn't real criticism.

Richard Maurer

I'm glad that you, someone I've never met nor held a conversation with, know my thoughts and motivations better than I do. I was under the silly impression that I formed my opinions based on my own observations. Really, though, how arrogant does one have to be to ascribe motivations to others with absolutely no knowledge of who they are as people? Isn't it possible that the reason others agree with my view is that they too believe the quality of the MCU movies has declined precipitously? If you continue to enjoy their offerings, good for you. I'll do you the courtesy of not ascribing juvenile motivations such as trendiness to your decision to continue to support the franchise.

Just Plain Bob

When you go with the herd, that's being trendy. You can believe what you want, but I've seen no real evidence that the MCU is in anyway significantly worse than in the first three phases. I think what people are seeing as a decline is really just the unavoidable loss RDJ and Chris Evans, as well the lack of a Infinity war style theme. If people continue to look for things that are no longer there they are bound to be disappointed.

Richard Maurer

Yawn, heard it all before. Still not seeing all the badness that the haters claim is there. The only thing lacking (so far) has been the unifying storyline like they had with the Infinity Saga, but that's starting to change too.

Richard Maurer

Or, you know, maybe those people just think the movies since the last Avengers movie aren’t up to par. But I do appreciate being called “trendy.” Never been accused of that before. Makes me feel hip.

Just Plain Bob

It's the trendy thing to say that everything MCU is bad now, all the cool kids are doin' it. But the truth is that while post Infinity Saga things have been mixed, the movies were mixed during the Infinity Saga too. I can honestly say the only truly bad MCU project was Thor: Love and Thunder, imo.

Richard Maurer

OMG, That dentist with the sedated girl making Heart Hands was so funny.

Uncle Phoenix

Morgan Who?

Uncle Phoenix

Morgan Who?

Brian McGovern

Interesting choice to mention Morgan Whalen during a reaction video for Wakanda Forever. 😂

Brian Lowery

WandaVision and Loki, I thought, were some of the most creative and story-rich stuff that has ever been done in the MCU. Yes, there has been a lack of consistency, especially with the movie side of things. But it would be silly to pretend that everything has been bad.

WastedPo

This movie is getting a lot of knocking in these comments, and that is fine, it, and Marvel, deserve a lot of criticism. But this is the first time I have re-watched this movie since I first saw it in the theaters, and it actually plays a lot better at home, when you know what to expect, you don't care how long it is, and you have the excellent company you have here. 😁

Mike LL

RIP my king, Chadwick Bosema. WAKANDA FOREVER!

David RedEagle

I’m right there with you girls for the most part. The MCU has not been able to live up to the impossible task of maintaining the quality it had at the end of phase 3. Phase 4 was a step back, but of course it was, how could it not be? 3 of the original 6 Avengers are gone, and they were arguably 3 of the top 4 most popular characters. I agree, there were too many projects coming out between the moves and Disney+ shows, though I’d argue the shows have been better then the movies imo. It does seem like they are delaying some projects to space some of them out to avoid some of the “Marvel fatigue”. I will still watch everything but my expectations are lower then they’ve been, except for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which I’m still excited for in May😊

Cole Jennett

WAKANDA FOREVER is really two movies. When it's the first one (a heartfelt tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman) it's pretty good. When it's the second one (a standard overstuffed MCU product) it's not as good.

Stick Figure Studios

Pros: - Very well acted from everyone. - Much improved special effects from the first film, which felt particularly unpolished in the third act. - Much improved fight choreography from the first film. - Namor is a great character with clear motivations. I love how his origin has been retconned from the comics to give him a Mayan ancestry. Cons: - Why was Martin Freeman in the film, apart from providing continuity with the first film? He could have been excised completely. - Too many sideplots. In a film that's already too long, there should have been some trimming of the excess. - I'm sorry, but they should have recast Chadwick Boseman. The man was excellent as the Black Panther and seemed a great guy, but this is just fiction and roles get recast when needed. Nobody blinked an eye when Norton got replaced by Ruffalo OR when Howard got replaced by Cheadle. Nobody will blink an eye with Harrison Ford replacing William Hurt.

Matt Rose

I have.

Just Plain Bob

so... quit watching

aarswft

MCU has been just awful since the Infinity Stones saga concluded. Directionless and far too dependent on CGI instead of good storytelling.

Just Plain Bob

the movie was underwhelming

rakesh

It looks like Phase 5 is as shitty as Phase 4 was.

Curaitis

The parts remembering Chadwick Boseman were moving and emotional, and there were some nice performances...but they overstuffed it with characters, and never really give you a reason to care about either fictional country. Also Shuri's plan at the end is really dumb.

TwistedMagoo

It would have been much better if it wasn't nearly 3hrs long. Boseman's greatness is sorely missed. In many ways

Shawn Kildal

I've never heard of Morgan Wallen until now. Besides a little John Denver country music isn't really my thing. Nor are Marvel movies for the matter but these intros lately have been very entertaining.

My_Cousin_Mose

tell Carly I said "who's Morgan Wallen?" lol

Andrew Rose

yeesh, the underwhelming shitstorm that is phase 4 continues...
