RRR (2022) - Full Reaction

WOW... this movie was sooo much different than I thought it be. I've never seen anything like it. This was my first "Bollywood" style movie and I don't want to spoil too much of the reaction so I'm going to keep this short :) Hope you enjoy!!

RRR (2022) - Full Reaction

Cassie, here on Patreon from the YT video, and I loved your full length reaction even more! I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie! I see that you were a bit confused by the montage of pics/people in the ending song. Those were images of Indian freedom fighters, so the segment in the end is a tribute to the people who fought (and in many cases, died) for the freedom of our country.

C'mon Gabor 😃 I know you are European like me. Request more movies from Europe. More requests = higher chance for European movies to be reacted to imo 😊

Björn Karlsson

She has seen Parasite 🙂

Björn Karlsson

Foreign would be nice. I recommend the movie Parasite which won the Oscar for best Picture.

hockeywitch

I've watched it three times over the past 7 or so months...twice in Hindi, once in English. The English dub is actually pretty good. I wish that Netflix had the original Telugu language mix (which is the language the film was actually shot in) but they didn't get the rights to it.

Matt Rose

You said they turned the British into the bad guys, but they actually were bad. The things the British did to the people and the countries they colonized was horrific. More films on the British Raj include Gunga Din, The Man Who Would Be King, a passage to India, and Gandhi (all western films-I’m sure there are some great ones from the Indian perspective as well). I’ve watched all the Oscar nominated films this year, if you want to see more, I suggest Everything, everywhere All At Once, Argentina 1985, Tar and All Quiet on The Western Front ( but I would watch the original first). Also from the creative category, I suggest Mrs Harris goes to Paris. It’s not deep or anything-just a charming, sweet, lovely film with good acting, beautiful costumes, and a good heart.

Tinkerbell

Oh, I forgot to mention Ram… HELLO!! I grew up in an American household, but my step mom was trying to fix me up with Indian guys… I’m just saying lol

Tara

I’ve just now finished this movie and I want to watch it again! Oh my gosh!! What an amazing movie… I saw some Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, MCU action and so much more… wow, just wow! My mom is American, but my dad is from India and I have seen bits and pieces of Bollywood movies where they are cheesy and break into song and dance and that kept me from watching this movie when Cassie first posted it but shame on me!!

Tara

I watched on Netflix and it was dubbed in English.

Tara

Thank You Cassie. I would never have seen this film if you had not picked it. And it was glorious. The over the top fight scenes were amazing but the dancing...now that had me wiggling in my chair. Really I have never seen Cassie show such enjoyment at fight scenes...heck almost a blood-lust in her smile. LOVE IT !

Those are the best kinds of movies that South Asia has to offer (along with older Bollywood romances, IMO). Unfortunately, movies like this get the most attention, especially among the western media. Now that I have finally watched it myself, it's just as bad as the Baahubali films. I genuinely do not understand the praise heaped on Rajamouli and his movies. They are like a special kind of terrible... nonsensical in EVERY department. The rest of the world must be under some sort of special hypnosis, because I do not understand the love these movies get. I will not be watching another movie of his after this. He's 0 for 3 in my book. If I knew that Cassie was going to venture into Indian films, I would have suggested something easy and light/fluffy to start off with, like OK Kanmani. Or even Mere Brother ki Dulhan, as silly as that is... It's a well-done romcom in every department.

Caomhan84

Agreed. Dangal is good. Aamir was actually trying, and it showed. The usual sports movie tropes notwithstanding, I enjoyed it. I can't say that for a lot of Indian movies made after 2014 or so.

Caomhan84

If it matters: the film can be split into two halves very easily. On Netflix, there's a CGI image that happens at about the 95 minute mark where an intermission took place (if you saw it theatrically). That's a great place to hit pause.

Matt Rose

I've heard some really good things about this film. But a three hour movie with subtitles just isn't my thing.

Riggo 82

i second this!!! Your Name is amazing

Mikey

Cassie: the glee you showed during the 'Naatu Naatu/Desi Naach' song and dance number was awesome. That is the song that got nominated for 'best song' at the Oscars and the RRR team is promising to do something awesome for it. Not sure if it'll be another dance battle but it should be epic nonetheless.

Matt Rose

Because I know how much you love a good love story, you and your sister really need to watch the anime Your Name. I'm telling you one of the best love stories in my opinion. And it's not really an action anime too, you and your sister will love it, I'm telling you!

MJ

okay I will watch this 🙂

Mannygogou

Wow this really did surprise me just how good it was the action scenes were film incredible and the story was very good. But with movies like this and and a few others about what the British Empire did I’m really not surprised quite a few people hate us English 😂. But I’ll definitely be giving more Indian films a chance in the future

Dean Holt

That's maybe the wildest emotional rollercoaster Cassie has been on? From joy to despair to disbelief and back again multiple times over the course of three hours. What an incredible feast of a movie!

Henry Graham

Yeah I know 🤣🤣

Björn Karlsson

The quote doesn’t apply to us, mate. He was aiming it at Americans, basically calling them idiots, which is why I love it so much😂😭

Shehab Dawoud

Hmmm..... that barrier I overcome when I was like 7-9 years old 😄

Björn Karlsson

Well I know an excellent swedish movie. Maybe I have mentioned that before 🤔🤔🤔😇😇😇

Björn Karlsson

Tbh, the difference between the real-life heroes and the film heroes is probably about the same as that between the villains on-screen and in reality

Tej Shah

It's all excused by the disclaimer at the beginning of the film, so I've given it a pass. Not reality, not meant to be taken as.

Mike LL

Have to agree to both of what was said above and everything Cassie articulated in her outro and overview. Such an entertaining movie and I am certainly enriched for having seen it and twice as much so for witnessing Cassie's heartfelt reaction, one of the best reactions I've ever seen on the channel. A strong contender for the best in the third annual Poppies next year!

Mike LL

"Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films." - Bong Joon-Ho

Shehab Dawoud

if you research into the British Raj, you'll find plenty of atrocities. While the film portrays the British in an over-the-top manner, a lot of what is depicted has historical precedence. Just do a google search on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and you'll see what I mean.

Matt Rose

Much has been said about the story as being Over the Top. That's what people do under stress and repression. They fantasize about a rescuer. They summarize it must be powerful because they don't see a usual way out of the situation. Ralphie thought Santa would surely come through with his quest for power in the barrel of a Red Rider BB Gun. In return he would use his gift to defend the family home front. Enjoyable three hours. Thank you.

Grinznmore

Really enjoyed that analysis. I agreed with him and this reminded me of The Ten Commandments. Actually, it ended up being a Rorschach test for me. It seemed to embody most of the movies seen on this channel. Count of Monte Cristo, war movies, Star Wars, Rabbitt Proof Fence, Dances With Wolves, Once Upon Time in Hollywood, and even Jenny from Forest Gump. It's a Chef Salad in storytelling. Has anyone subscribed to Mubi?

Grinznmore

Cassie, given the topic of foreign movies, any plans for a foreign movie poll/bracket? I do have a suggestion featuring specifically European movies and Europe Day, May 9, could be an opportunity to time this.

Gábor Árki

The cartoonish British villains are really my only gripe with this film. They're just so ridiculous, which is reductive as they probably did a lot of genuinely evil stuff in reality

Odd Thomas

I liked Dangal. It was the last good film Aamir Khan made.

Whovian Prakash

you did nazi that was coming?

Matt Rose

If you're wanting another really, really excellent film from India, I highly recommend DANGAL. It's not an over the top spectacle like RRR is, it's instead a story about a father raising his two daughters to be wrestlers. It's based on a true story and it's one of the absolute best sports movies that I've ever seen. It's the #1 movie of all time in India for a reason.

Matt Rose

Eega is also fantastic. A different kind of love story.

Just Plain Bob

I’m about to watch this for the dance scenes reactions

MJ

This is definitely a movie.

Scott Macaulay

Count me in that “never put that together” club!

Mike LL

Not sure if this was the 'best' movie of 2022 but it was definitely the 'most' movie of 2022. Loved it. It's one of the most thoroughly entertaining films that I've seen in years. Glad you loved it.

Matt Rose

Both my wife and I, who come from that part of the world, did not like this movie at all. My wife is a big fan of Bollywood (although technically RRR is not Bollywood) films and Pakistani TV dramas. I also watch Bollywood once in a while. (I like Bollywood music more than Bollywood films.) And neither of us are fond of over-the-top Bollywood and South Indian blockbusters. We love more grounded dramas and comedy-dramas.

Whovian Prakash

Watching this reaction still. I’m guessing Cassie never puts 2 and 2 together that the evil Blonde is Elsa the evil blonde from Last Crusade.

djKENTO

Cassie you have introduced ME to something new and I enjoyed it very much. That was an amazing film. I'm grateful to you for expanding my horizons.

David Bennett

Interesting, how Rajamouli distilled all the evils of imperialism into just a few characters, so as to give us a satisfying confrontation without discounting the actual events of Indian independence. Also, it was really cool when the motorcycle blew up.

Ben Livingstone

Just to clear something up, this isn’t Bollywood. Bollywood specifically refers to films made in Hindi and in Mumbai. This is Tollywood which is in Telugu, one of India’s many languages. If you want to know more about RRR I highly recommend this video from Youtube film essayist Patrick H Willems https://youtu.be/dPU2D5Ftjbw This movie has a fascinating history and it’s well worth the watch. Also fun fact, because nearly half of India is Vegetarian and they respect animal rights so much almost all the animals in the film are CGI.

djKENTO

Genuinely in my top 5 action movies I've seen ever.

Noah

This was an unforgettable experience in the cinema on opening night, where the sold-out audience broke into spontaneous applause multiple times during the film. Incredible entertainment. I'm looking forward to seeing how Cassie reacts to the film's jaw-dropping action set-pieces and musical numbers.

Henry Graham

So happy you gave this a try. I grew up watching the ppl infront and behind the lens of the film and still cant believe how far they've come. I could say alot of things, but ill just say im glad you got to experience a taste of that part of the world. I'm sure you had a blast
