Don't Roll your Eyes at my LOOOVEEE Poll
Added 2023-02-06 20:38:36 +0000 UTCOk so we are going to do a LIVE watch along on FEBRUARY 13th @ 7:30 MST! (more details to come)
I have two options....
One. Watch ABOUT TIME, one of my very favorite romance movies ever and have seen it quite a few times so I could chat more etc.
OOORRRRR
Two. Watch RETURN TO ME. A romance I really really want to see. I think I would love it, it would be a first time reaction but would have to pay closer attention to the movie!
You choose for me.
Comments
You should watch "Circle of Friends" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkDsay1CrHo) it is the movie that put Mini Driver on the map and led to her casting in Good Will Hunting.

2023-02-14 02:51:37 +0000 UTCEvery single aspect of Return To Me is perfection...... writing, directing, casting, supporting character development, soundtrack! I can't wait for you two to see it!

2023-02-11 08:49:40 +0000 UTCIf you like an emotional love story about redemption, self-worth, and perseverance, you must check out Redeeming Love on Amazon Prime. It’s really good! Beautiful cinematography and music, powerful story and message. Just had to share.

2023-02-11 04:25:43 +0000 UTCI’m wondering; has Cassie seen “As Good As It Gets”? If not I’m wondering why it wasn’t in the poll. Call me old fashioned, but that’s my favorite rom-com. And I’m not a rom-com fan. But for the sake of PIB I’m pulling for “About Time”.

2023-02-11 03:02:09 +0000 UTCReturn to Me gets my vote. It was one of my mom's favorite movies. In fact, a lot of the movies she liked would be movies you'd enjoy (An Officer and a Gentleman, Sweet Dreams, Mr. Holland's Opus, When a Man Loves a Woman, Witness, etc). This movie was also Carroll O'Connor's last role. If you are unfamiliar with him, look him up. He played the iconic character Archie Bunker in the TV show, All in the Family. It was one of the first sitcoms to really dive deep into controversial social issues of the time (war, racism, anti-Semitism, sexuality, etc).

2023-02-09 13:50:15 +0000 UTCReturn to me...great generational cast ...huge laughs...tears....and a gorilla. One of my favorite rom-coms of all time. Even if it isn't selected, you absolutely need to watch this one. (Oh...and a dog too!)

2023-02-09 02:34:24 +0000 UTCI thought of the perfect love story movie to watch for the first time AND chat during. Endless Love (1981) That could be very entertaining.
Larry Darrell
2023-02-08 22:49:59 +0000 UTCI guess people don't want you chatting that much. Not me. I like you chatting. 😁

2023-02-08 20:50:35 +0000 UTCSorry, absolutely rolling my eyes. As Jessica Chastain said in 'Snow White: The Huntsman Winter's War' "We blind ourselves to the truth because we're weak... because we HOPE. But there's no hope for 'love'. Love ends in betrayal....Aye' and ALWAYS!"
'Pappy' Johnston
2023-02-08 19:55:01 +0000 UTCI chose "About Time," simply because you have seen it before. This is not a popular opinion, but I hate the idea of "reacting" to a movie while chatting. I know people love the twitch streamer trend and the whole interactive party atmosphere, but I have to believe it would only make it more difficult to truly become invested in the movie.

2023-02-08 01:20:54 +0000 UTCTalking about Return to Me, my choice.
Timothy Williams
2023-02-07 21:03:50 +0000 UTCCarroll O'Connor (of Archie Bunker/All in the Family fame) and the other character actors in his group make this film wonderful! Non-romance fans that love acting will appreciate their work. Like While You Were Sleeping, the writing coupled with a great cast make a group of imperfect family and friends relatable and lovable!
Timothy Williams
2023-02-07 21:02:48 +0000 UTCHe is great in it!

2023-02-07 21:00:09 +0000 UTCI got no dog in this fight.

2023-02-07 20:44:27 +0000 UTCBoth are excellent romantic films. But if you like Back to the Future, Frequency (2000), and a good love story. You'll like About Time.

2023-02-07 08:32:10 +0000 UTCI second this big time. One of my favorites as well.
Erik Daniel
2023-02-07 06:53:24 +0000 UTCThey just didn't want to talk about it. I got the impression she was bummed out by its reception. Plus, she was there to talk about her sitcom. 🤷♂️

2023-02-07 05:18:26 +0000 UTCYou should add a third option (or watch it some other time)...A Walk in the Clouds...it is one of my favourite romance movies. I think you'll enjoy it too.

2023-02-07 03:42:29 +0000 UTCTo be honest I've never heard of either movie, but I picked Return to Me because it was Carroll O'Connor's last screen appearance.

2023-02-07 03:30:51 +0000 UTCLove is in the air! Never a bad moment for romance, companionship and the want for your other half to be in your arms. Valentine's Day has always been my favorite time of the year. :) No matter what movie wins, nobody really loses, and I really like that!

2023-02-07 01:25:52 +0000 UTC@Robert Allen - The proposition of dedicating a couple of hours to watch and participate here over either one of these two charming films may not appeal... until you realize that this experience will be with CASSIE, perhaps the most heart-warming and charming hosts ever for such an endeavor. Personally, I can't think of a more welcome way to spend two hours!

2023-02-06 23:33:59 +0000 UTCFor any Guys who have never seen About Time, it is a GUY'S Love Story. It is also a Father/Son film. Well worth anyone's time.

2023-02-06 22:46:48 +0000 UTCI met Bonnie Hunt when I worked for a network where she had a sitcom. She and David Alan Grier were unimpressed with my admiration for "Return to Me."

2023-02-06 22:44:47 +0000 UTCAhh Jeez. I think I have to go with Return To Me. Sorry Cassie, I want you to watch whatever you want for V-Tines day, but I think you might really love Return To me and it's one of your Mom's favorites right?
Erik Daniel
2023-02-06 22:43:28 +0000 UTCAfter watching Cassie bravely push through Robocop, I kind of want her to revisit one of her very faves. She deserves a W like this, lmao

2023-02-06 22:30:26 +0000 UTCNever heard of ether of them 😂, but I am watching more Romcoms mainly down to this channel and if I’m honest I’ve quite enjoyed some of them especially While you Were Sleeping.

2023-02-06 22:18:31 +0000 UTCI abstain, I think, since I know neither of the two. So I am fine whatever the outcome. Yay! :-)

2023-02-06 22:16:11 +0000 UTCAs I've commented, you really need to dive into some of the great romances of the golden age, both drama and comedy. "Brief Encounter," considered to be among the greatest films ever made. Not just greatest romances, but greatest films, period. "An Affair to Remember," one of the most romantic films ever made. It is referenced throughout Nora Ephron's "Sleepless in Seattle." "The Philadelphia Story," starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and James Stewart. Adapted from Philip Barry's play, Hepburn reprised her Broadway role. Probably the most romantic of the screwball comedies, it was also adapted into the screen musical "High Society," which was later adapted to the Broadway stage (in which a 12 year old Anna Kendrick was nominated for the Tony for Best Supporting Actress).

2023-02-06 22:15:53 +0000 UTCWhen you get the chance, take a look at A Little Romance. It’s from back in the 70s or early 80s. I don’t know if it was very popular, but it was a really neat movie that I liked. It’s about young love. I think he might like it, you don’t have to react to it necessarily, but I think you’d like to watch it.

2023-02-06 21:44:21 +0000 UTCOh this is a hard one. Although it would be fun watching you see a movie that you've seen before and can really gush over and chat about, I know that you'll absolutely adore Return to Me, and gush over it too. So I really don't know what to pick. Coin flip time!
Caomhan84
2023-02-06 21:42:15 +0000 UTCAbout Time is an intense love plus so much more movie. Love of a father, love of a sister, love of a child, love of a wife, love of an acquaintance, love not quite found, and love never, ever to lose, but most of all, this film is about the love of life itself. About Time is a great choice in this poll. (though I recognize Bonnie Hunt's triumph of love over tragedy story and I do love RTM too!)
Terry Yelmene
2023-02-06 21:34:57 +0000 UTCReturn to Me is an absolute gem. It’s one my family often watches when we’re all together on a vacation or something. I think you’d love it!
Zack Messick
2023-02-06 21:30:44 +0000 UTCFor my sake I choose About Time- if you're gonna go live I'd like more opportunity for you to chat with us. And for your sake if you watch Return to Me live then you'll miss stuff.

2023-02-06 21:26:53 +0000 UTCVoted for About Time because it's kind of the opposite? Instead of your first time watching something, people who haven't seen it can tune in and it's almost like you sharing your favourite with them, like a bunch of folks here try to get you to watch their favourites, yeah? Would be really fun. Not to mention, I love the movie!

2023-02-06 21:02:25 +0000 UTCLove you reactions but reacting to movies we have at least heard of is... you know. And I love romance movies be them drama or romy comys.

2023-02-06 20:55:56 +0000 UTCHaven’t seen either of these movies. In fact I’ve never even heard of them. I’m sure whatever wins you’ll have a great time watching it
James1035
2023-02-06 20:55:09 +0000 UTCYou should do both. Personally I don’t care about the “first time seeing” label anymore. I think mainly people need to like the reactor person, and just want to watch along with occasional interruptions. I chose “about time” - I loooveee the ending and have watched it a bunch too. FYI - the star Domhnall Gleeson is the son of Hamish from Braveheart (just recently learned after watching “banshees of inersheeran”)
Steve Barrett
2023-02-06 20:53:52 +0000 UTCBoth are great, but About Time is a must see.

2023-02-06 20:53:13 +0000 UTCAlthough I do enjoy a good rom-com, I've never seen either. I've heard you mention About Time enough that I'd love to see you watch it! 😁
