Added 2023-01-29 03:20:46 +0000 UTC
Hey guys! Here is the YT edit for The Right Stuff, which will premiere shortly. We had trouble getting this one to up because of copyright stuff, but it seems good to go now! Also, thank you so much for joining me and Carly on the live today. They are also so stressful leading up to it, but so worth it and fun when we're going. Thanks for making it so fun!

From the Earth to the Moon and First Man. I enthusiastically endorse both!

Cassie, I recommend First Man with Ryan Gosling, 2018. I think it's a magnificent movie. It's mostly a somber character study about Neil Armstrong, kinda sad, but well done.

From the earth to the Moon is fantastic, I'd also add When we left the Earth. Both are great! Earth to the moon recreates the events and is very accurate and When we left uses all archived footage to tell the events. Both are incredibly informative and interesting if you like space stuff!

Any time I come across Seabiscuit on "Live", I have to watch it to the end. Recently saw the Black Stallion, and while I had thought it was a kids movie, it really surprised me, and has plenty for grown ups to.... Maybe I was mashing it up with Black Beauty in my mind!

Totally agree with From The Earth To The Moon! You should also check out the Disney+ version of The Right Stuff! It’s a little more closer to actual events than the movie.

I agree....RESPECT. As a retired USAF non-commissioned officer and then to retire for a second time from a career in aerospace launching rockets and working the pads including one right next to where Shepherd launched from originally at Cape Canaveral for years... As much as I love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love Cassie I must admit that I BRISTLED EVERY TIME she mispronounced the General's name. It may seem silly, but for some of us, who built a life around that industry and worked with some of these people, it's HUGE! Sorry, nothing but love, but I'm just being honest.

I am glad you reacted to the Right Stuff. I hope you watch Seabiscut. It is a great story. The type of movie you and your sister would enjoy. Its historically truthful and the same time as the Cinderella Man. The characters are all well developed. There are plenty of scenes which will surprise you. Hope you watch it soon; you will enjoy it.

I BrightAngel Miss Cassie and your precious sister, no pleasure can compare to the pleasure of bringing joy and hope to other hearts. The more you guys make others happy, the greater your happiness will be and the more profound your sense of having served your numerous fans. You always bring great movies and understanding to so many with your love and compassion. Thanks again, guys. Keep up the hard work, and making us all smile. My wife and I are in our late 70s. We've been together since we were 14. She just had a double mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. Watching you makes us forget our troubles and smile and laugh through hard times. We love you and thank you for bringing some light into this troubled world. We always wanted a daughter, and in a way, now we have two. Thank you for the love you give everyone. You're making a difference to so many people. Especially the elderly and lonely.

Cassie, 20 years ago I was lucky enough to meet the real John Glenn at my niece's high school graduation. He was a retired US Senator by then and every bit as impressive as in this movie.

Chuck Yeager did become famous over the years as the Greatest Test Pilot of all time.

One aspect of the sound design for the movie that I really love is the sound of locusts every time the press corps mob appears. Very appropriate.

- Cassie, you and Carly saw Fred Ward (Virgil "Gus" Grissom) as Earl Bassett in Tremors. He is also in 2 episodes of True Detective.
- Scott Glen (Alan Shepard) was Jodie Foster's boss in Silence of the Lambs, and submarine Captain Bart Mancuso in The Hunt For Red October, and CIA DIrector Ezra Kramer in the Bourne films.
- Jeff Goldblum's partner was Harry Shearer. You would know him as DJ Handsome Dan (Wayne's World 2) or perhaps many voices on The Simpsons.
- You just saw Barbara Hershey as Harriet Bird in The Natural
- Wally was played by Lance Henrikson .."Bishop" from the Alien films.

There is a great documentary from 2007 titled In the Shadow of the Moon. It is narrated by the NASA Apollo astronauts who actually traveled to the Moon. It uses actual Nasa footage of the Apollo program and is amazing! The astronauts are so interesting and entertaining, telling the story from their POV. It’s on streaming services and well worth your time :)

In 1925 Colonel Billy Mitchell from Milwaukee WI (where I grew up and the main international local airport is named after him) was court marshalled for daring to say the Army ddin't know what it was doing with the Air Core, that there should be a separate branch of the Military for planes, what we now call the US Air Force. In 1925 he testified to CRAZY things, like one day planes would fly over 1,000 miles per hour and that Pearl Harbor was vulnerable to attack by air, most likely by the Empire of Japan. Yes, he actually said that, back then. Billy Mitchell, now regarded as the father of the USAF, had The Right Stuff.

Jets only emerged a few years before 1947 with the German Messerschmitt Me 262 and the German rocket program. At the end of WW2 Russia and the US raced across Germany to get all the rocket engineers and scientists, thats why you keep hearing German accents in NASA. Earth to the Moon is excellent!

The HBO mini series "From the Earth to the Moon" is outstanding. It covers the Gemini and Apollo programs. Tom Hanks was producer, a director and introduces the episodes.
