Upcoming!!

Hey guys, hope you had a good long weekend, hoping that we all took a moment to pause and remember MLK’s legacy and life! I know sometimes people knock “just sharing a quote on instagram” but I was inspired seeing peoples thoughts, drawings, quotes, and pictures yesterday.

We took a little weekend trip to my brother and sister in laws and even though it rained the whole time we had fun exploring and staying up late playing games!

A big week coming up with some winners from our poll of what World Should I Return to? Did you guys tie those two on purpose? I’m not even mad 😜

We also have our first Bond poll this week, Dun dun ddduunnnn! And Galaxy Quest won the top 50 poll?! I am surprised, but also not mad! Tim the Toolman Taylor? i’m in! Planning on having another Top 50 poll next week but for YT to vote on as well!

Last thing! We are going to have a YT LIVE ON 1/28 @3 PM MST with packages and games!

The Second Annual Poppy Awards will be in February! Tentatively 2/11 but still working out some things to make sure! A voting form will hopefully be going out this week!

Ok love you all, tell me something that made you smile this weekend!

Cassie

From Russia With Love Goldfinger You Only Live Twice Diamonds Are Forever Live And Let Die The Spy Who Loved Me For Your Eyes Only A View To A Kill The Living Daylights Goldeneye Skyfall

Bill W

Goldeneye was the name of Ian Fleming's house/estate in Jamacia.

Richard Bourne

I know Sean Connery,I ask the og in my family for a lot of my information..

Celeste McAllister

I Mistook you for a Proficient James Bond Fan, especially the Connery Bonds, based on your past comments. That's what I Get. Me ASS-uming, My BAD.

Larry Darrell

You know what would be fun? Do one of those big run offs with all episodes and see what the group thinks is the top 12. I'm in full support of her watching the best of TOS but not the entire series. There are some real crappers in there. But a runoff of all episodes will sift out all the dross and let the rest rise to the top.

Kristin D

Oops,sorry Larry my bad,I haven't watched Dr.No yet. 😆😎✌

Celeste McAllister

After Lethal Weapon 2, I must recommend watching the spoof version called National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon. You will be cracking up!

Adam Doyle

Gotta go with Goldeneye

Blaze118

I wish that choice had been "The Martian" over "Interstellar" as I think it's a better movie. Hopefully that will come up one day. Interstellar is good, but Martian is excellent and interesting at a more personal level. I'm looking forward to see which one she enjoys more, Galaxy Quest or Interstellar. I voted for Galaxy Quest because I think she will enjoy it more than Interstellar.

Kristin D

She saw Replacements, loved it!

Kristin D

That's exactly why I think she should start with Casino Royale... Even though the majority of bond fans hate that idea, I think it's the best approach. She adores the Mission Impossible movies, and Casino Royale is going to be in that vein. Plus it's like two movies in one. You get a lot of bang for your buck with that film.

Caomhan84

If you go to the very top of this page, you will see PATREON FAQ which should answer any and all questions for you including a request link

Shawn Kildal

I just have a feeling Cassie isn't going to love the James Bond films. Some may not stand the test of time with her I'm thinking. Especially, if she compares it to the Mission Impossible movies that she does love.

Shawn Kildal

She's seen The Replacements and Remember the Titans

Shawn Kildal

I did send Cassie a handwritten note about the viewing of Star Trek, and she mentioned during one of her livestreams much later afterwards, that the letter would be given due consideration. Hopefully, it will work out in the end. I never once even thought about Galaxy Quest in the equation though.

Shawn Kildal

I have never seen Galaxy Quest but I'm a huge Trek fan. I think after not liking Spaceballs when it first came out, I stayed away from it thinking it might be similar in comparison. I'm going to have to see it now and judge for myself why the heck it's #6 on the request page. Plus, I want to see if it gives any spoilers for the Star Trek reactions.

Shawn Kildal

... make a request of "The Cowboys" starring John Wayne. Or "The Outlaw Josse Wales.". Little help?

Captain Caveman

New to Patreon and trying to figure it out. Anxious to make a re

Captain Caveman

Sorry. I figured that. Line from Dr. No. Definitely didn’t mean anything by it. Bad Form. All in Good Fun.

Larry Darrell

Yuck! Are you for real? It's Mrs.McAllister.

Celeste McAllister

Moore may be my favorite too! He’s easily the funniest Bond. His movies….while probably the cheesiest.. were always entertaining!!

Krusty “Topher”

Even if you are right… that would be 1 + 1 + 2 + 1, Not 1 + 2 + 1 + 1

Larry Darrell

I take it your not a True Bond Fan, Rick? Lazenby is very Important.

Larry Darrell

I’m game… but tell me, Miss McAllister, do you play any other games?

Larry Darrell

Surely that should have been a request for the first one? :-) "Don't put me in the game, Coach, until Mumbles is through rehearsing."

Happy Hanukkah

Not a bad idea

Celeste McAllister

SUBTITLES ON GODFATHER 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Connor P

As to what made me smile, the usual. Whenever I feel down, I contemplate my own awesomeness, and that never fails to cheer me up.

Happy Hanukkah

"I’m not even mad 😜" Given the emoji, I beg to differ. Oh, you meant "mad" as in "angry!" Never mind, then. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

That was Magnificent! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Celeste McAllister

Please be careful Scott,no spoilers!

Celeste McAllister

I'm of the opinion Cassie could watch 'Dr.No' 'From Russia with Love' & 'Goldfinger' after that run a poll should we keep going with Bond films..fair enough?

Celeste McAllister

The first season of True Detective is phenomenal. Good police procedure, good elements of horror as well. Not sure Cassie would like it, but I loved it.

David Blount

Roger Moore?? Wow. That's a first. Never heard someone say he was their favorite.

David Blount

Re: the Bond debate. I’m a fan of the original Sean Connery depiction of Bond and would recommend seeing those films in order. Having said that, I think Cassie will hate them. After Connery, the only Bond film I enjoyed was Casino Royale with Daniel Craig, which is a really good reboot of the character. Unfortunately, in the studio’s desire to create an overarching story, they followed up with a series of films that became increasingly Byzantine in their efforts to make the series all part of the same extended story. And it was awful.

Just Plain Bob

Casino Royale is just a good action movie. I grew up with the old Bond movies and I can't sit through even something like Goldfinger anymore. But Casino Royale is excellent. The parkour race is a thrill.

David Blount

Something that made me smile this past weekend was watching your reaction to The Right Stuff.

Rick Williams

Yes. There are franchises that just need to be touched to have a well rounded film history. Bond is a big one of those. Cassie doesn't have to watch all of them. Great if she does. But, at least one Bond film from each of the main Bond actors. I say main because I don't count the one off Bond films by Lazenby, Nelson & Niven.

Rick Williams

We've been talking on the Discord for months about Bond

Mike LL

@Celeste: Many did.

Stick Figure Studios

@Brian - I am a big Bond guy, but I agree. Any cinematic education worth it's salt is going to include the longest running franchise in film history.

Stick Figure Studios

I think Cassie has seen Rudy? She might really love Friday Night Lights.

Brian Harris

I’m not a big Bond guy, but I always think of this channel as being, at least in part, an educational experience for our gracious hostess, and a cinema education just ain’t complete without Bond. It’s so influential.

Brian Harris

Godfather 2 answers all the questions Cassie had in the first one. How did Don Corleone rise to power etc...I'm sure she will enjoy his relationship with his family in the early days too.

Scott Macaulay

You boys have some strong opinions on the 007 issue!!!😀😆😘

Celeste McAllister

I'm also pretty over STAR WARS and the MCU product. I'd be fully content if she never touched anything from those franchises again, but that's up to her. BOND is something new, though. It's the longest running franchise in existence and each actor's run was a reflection of the decade in which the films were made. I'd be really curious what she thinks of young Sean Connery's run of films (I think she'd find DR. NO boring and love the rest) considering how much she's enjoyed seeing young Robert Redford in other films.

Matt Rose

Because it is a big ask for the people paying, especially when you include the Star Wars people demanding, what, 3 more series, Star Trek people demanding 15 movies and at least one, probably two series, maybe 7, more Marvel, and on and on.

Mike Lemon

Indeed, Rocky/Creed got 8 slots, MCU around 15, both in less than a year and overlapping with SW. Forgot about those because Rocky (and boxing) was never my thing, to begin with, and I just stopped caring about MCU in phase 4. So based on these examples I really don't see why Bond should be the franchise where 12, or even more realistically 8 reactions per year would be too much to bear.

Gábor Árki

Enjoyed watching the Bengals play with my dad.

Joshua Stormont

100% disagree. Roger Moore was the best bond IMO and Connery was close second. Craig was awful and so were the movies. Completely forgettable unlike the classics. Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun and Goldfinger would be my top picks for Cassie.

John Cranberry

@Gabor- (RE: series length and Star Wars) Yes, and for those of us over Star Wars, that was a long year. Then add in Rocky and Marvel and "series" takes a huge chunk of the movies watched.

Mike Lemon

Can't vote on these, never seen True Detective, probably b/c I know I won't like it, and Godfather 2 since I was a kid. Good luck. So many more great movies out there besides these movies that your gonna watch!

Joseph M Sica

I'm 100% sure you'd enjoy the Daniel Craig Bonds, they tell an overarching story, whereas the older Bonds you may just find slow and silly, though you can just dip in and out as they are fairly standalone. My favourites: Casino Royale (2006) Skyfall Goldeneye Licence to Kill The Spy Who Loved Me From Russia With Love Goldfinger

Odd Thomas

@My_Cousin_Mose If you do the math, Star Wars already accounted for 9+2 reactions for the movies and 4+4+3 reactions for the series she reacted to. That is 22 reactions that happened over 13 months between September 2021 and October 2022. And there is more to come. Potentially a lot more. So it wouldn't be unprecedented at all to react to such a large franchise because it already happened before. Spanning through all the Bond movies across 2 years would still only be half the pace she did for SW. And I would be perfectly fine if she would do it at an even slower pace. For example just the Connery era this year, Moore next year, etc. Of course, that would only make sense if she does enjoy the Bond movies to begin with.

Gábor Árki

It was one of those really close votes, which means that she's probably going to end up watching both of them anyway. So Interstellar will be coming eventually .No big deal.

Caomhan84

@Matt 1 film a month for 2 years with a total of 25 is a lot of movies. Cassie does put out a decent amount of content but its usually about 12 per month. That's nearly 10% of the schedule and I'd say that IS a significant portion to dedicate to a single franchise.

My_Cousin_Mose

Late to the party on the whole Galaxy Quest/Star Trek debate. As someone who barely knows or cares about Star Trek, I enjoyed Galaxy Quest. I was pretty familiar with it just because it’s such a big part of pop culture, but the things I knew about Star Trek didn’t affect the way I saw Galaxy Quest at all. So it’s silly to think Cassie needs to watch some Star Trek before watching. That said, really bummed Galaxy Quest won. It’s just a silly comedy. Interstellar on the other hand, is a good example of film as art. And the kind of film I think Cassie should be watching…. Really disappointed in you guys.

Jeff Milcheck

Dang thats a name I haven't heard in a long time.

My_Cousin_Mose

Bond is going to be an interesting proposition. I'm not saying that I can't see her enjoying them, but I have seen people get utterly bored with the first few Connery movies. I myself started with From Russia with Love since that was the first one my dad rented for us way back in maybe 1994. I remember enjoying it, but then when I saw Dr. No next, even I almost fell asleep. I didn't watch that movie successfully until college. My favorite Connery movies are Russia, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, for what it's worth. Oddly, I've never been a fan of Goldfinger even though that is the movie that established the Bond "formula." And I know a lot of people have said don't include a Bond poll and avoid the Daniel Craig movies because they would probably win because of recency bias, but I have to be honest... Even though I love a lot of the early Bonds, I actually think that introducing someone new to the franchise with the 2006 Casino Royale isn't a bad strategy. Yes, it's modern, but it's a complete movie which also serves as an origin story and it's also damn good.

Caomhan84

😊 I went and saw Ruben Studdard in concert singing Luther Vandross songs it was great

Sam R.

Yes it's filling up a schedule. Even if she did one a month it's 2 years of commitment. If she did it like Star Wars it would take over 3 years. Jen Murray might be doing them all be Cassie isn't Jen and she's starting to do Trek as well. Some people don't want to wait 2 years for Trek to start. so Jen is doing 2 franchises and basically nothing else.

David Freese

Watch the live stream on the 28th she's going to unbox some ST 101 gifts..

Celeste McAllister

If Longest Yard makes it to a poll, let’s hope its the Burt Reynolds 74 version and not the horrible Adam Sandler one.

Jeff Milcheck

Let's pick 12 Star Trek:TOS episodes for a poll, everyone gets three votes, ask Cassie for a patroen only reaction,a yt cut would be her call..

Celeste McAllister

North Dallas Forty

Rosario Cicero

Haha well that is a good point if she up for that

MatthewBrown74m

Why didn't someone say skip Robocop? :)

Celeste McAllister

Remember the Titans, The Longest Yard (more of a prison movie), The Replacements, We Are Marshall, Invincible, Necessary Roughness

Marty McGee

Did you know what the Red Shirts were before Galaxy Quest?

Kristin D

Star Trek is inevitable TOS & Movies. .

Celeste McAllister

She should watch Space Seed before Wrath of Khan. Maybe she should watch the 10 best of Original Trek episodes before the movies. She doesn't need the whole series, just enough to get a taste of what it's all about.

Kristin D

I love Brian’s Song. The only reason I didn’t bring it up is because it’s more of a film about friendship and hardship… Football is just the backdrop. i was hoping for films that focus fully on football.

Jeff Milcheck

Brian's Song.

Brent Petty

I agree with you about the Daniel Craig movies. I really hope she watches those last after she's sampled all of the other actors first

Stick Figure Studios

Yes

Larry Darrell

Jen Murray is doing all the Bond films on her channel and they’re pretty popular over there. One can only wish it happens here. It’s kind of disappointing to us Bond fans that this is the way she’s doing it.

Tim Raths

I know Cassie loves a good baseball movie, but with NFL playoffs going on and the Super Bowl not far off, what about a football film poll? There’s not nearly as many good football movies compared to baseball but a few worth watching. Some personal faves are The Waterboy, Rudy, Friday Night Lights and the mother of all football films, Any Given Sunday.

Jeff Milcheck

I hit the dang enter button trying to delete, hate that. Definitely not trying to convince anyone of anything. I’m always just stating my opinions, and always like to see the other side represented. (Especially when it’s the side I’m on.) It’s interesting that 2 different large canons of films are being discussed at the same time. Both require many, many hours to watch and absorb before watching a more recent film/films. Galaxy Quest is just one film that would take 2 whole series, and up to 9 films to see, in order to Fully Appreciate. Obviously that’s not going to happen. (especially for 1 movie). Galaxy Quest, which is not a Star Trek film, doesn’t even mention Star Trek, making it, in my opinion, just an Homage to the Memory of Star Trek. On the other hand, the James Bond films. I assume the Daniel Craig films are what a large chunk of viewers would like her to get to, giving the “Recency” thing, and them being flashier and grittier and newer special effects. But, like before, to Fully Appreciate the Daniel Craig films, One must watch the 20 films from before. Although, unlike before, the Newer Daniel Craig films ARE James Bond films. Yes they start the character over, but knowing what is different and what is the same and why this character does this or says that; knowing the full History of the character; knowing why there is a long Opening Credits, is for myself, Much of the Fun. Without them, the Daniel Craig films become the same as Mission Impossible films or Bourne films, or any other spy film. I guess, watching a few early films in order will help, but I still say She’ll be missing out on the reason the Daniel Craig James Bond films even exist, and that is the 20 James Bond Films from Before. Fun Fact: I watched all 20 films in 3 Days before. A Very Fun 3 Days. (P.S.: Sorry for mentioning Galaxy Quest again. It made for a good comparison.)

Larry Darrell

Except Galaxy Quest is IMO so much better than any Star Trek movies. Some are OK, but nothing that is at all compelling. Looking forward to Galaxy Quest.

Alex Laime

I hear what you’re saying. But I think Cassie might surprise you with what she knows about Star Trek. She’s attempted to do the Vulcan “Live Long and Prosper” 🖖 on a couple reactions already. Albeit poorly! 😂 I think she knows the show is about a crew exploring the galaxy. That it’s fans are every bit as passionate as Star Wars fans. Would it be better if Cassie had seen the TV show. Of course. But I don’t think it’s a prerequisite. She’s a busy Mom and wife. Not sure how much time she has to do homework before watching Galaxy Quest. Who knows? If she likes it, the movie may inspire her dip her toes into the Star Trek universe sooner than later. 🤞

Robert da Spruce

Off topic 😊 If you are curious about Lukas Moodysson, check this out 😊 https://www.arrowvideo.com/blu-ray/the-lukas-moodysson-collection-limited-edition/14017611.html

Björn Karlsson

Something that made me smile this weekend... Cowboys v Buccaneers game lol

mikethemotormouth

P.S. You edited your comment so much that I had to respond to it more than once. I said I wasn't going to rehash it all again and I don't plan to, so I'll just quickly say that you are right that GALAXY QUEST works well enough on its own, but it just works better if one knows Star Trek. If one doesn't agree with that, that's fine, but it's my opinion -- and nobody could ever convince me otherwise -- that it is a movie that is meant to be a post-Trek and not pre-Trek movie. I know it's not going to happen that way here and I accept that, but my point is just that that's a shame, because it should.

Stick Figure Studios

Finally 💁‍♀️

John Cranberry

@Larry: Also, people sometimes forget that in addition to LICENCE TO KILL, the events depicted in ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE are also referenced explicitly in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (which she will almost certainly watch when she gets to the Moore era) and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. It's is also implicitly referenced in THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH.

Stick Figure Studios

MAJOR release week!

Terry Yelmene

I think what is giving pause to some people is the suspicion that her pop culture knowledge of Star Trek might be severely limited (more so than even the average viewer). This is Cassie we're talking about here.

Stick Figure Studios

We know it's you, Blofeld! You're not fooling anybody. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

@Larry: Yeah, in spite of some of the issues I have with the film (and with Lazenby in particular), it is a pretty important story in the canon.

Stick Figure Studios

@James: If that's the way that it goes, I'll accept that, but I'd still like to see three from Connery, three from Moore, Dalton's two, Lazenby's one, two from Brosnan and all of the Craigs.

Stick Figure Studios

Skip James Bond altogether.

Jackson Harper

For the record, I have seen all of the OG Trek movies and a couple of the other ones. Just not any of the series. And I saw Galaxy Quest before any of that.

Jackson Harper

Thanks, Mike. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

I'm actually of the opinion that the Star Trek movies are mostly what she needs to see. I do think watching an episode or two of the original TV series (preferably including "The Space Seed") might provide some context for those, but when I was a kid, the movies were my introduction to Star Trek and I think it was fine. At any rate, as Todzilla says, Cassie will do it the way she wants and I'll support her (has Apollo Creed and Adrian said to Rocky) "no matter what." Doesn't mean I always agree with the way it goes.

Stick Figure Studios

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a Must Watch, for if you’re going from Dr. No to License to Kill. That is the pivotal film that changes everything. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service creates an arc that curves all the way to License to Kill. Those two may be the most important. Also, No Time to Die gets much of its influence from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. People always seem to dismiss it because Lazenby did one film and quit/got fired. It is one of the best of the series, in style, story and score. PS: Galaxy Quest works very well without having seen Star Trek. Only if you have seen Star Trek, you will get more of the jokes, but the film has its own story and is not a direct Parody. Sorry, couldn’t help it.

Larry Darrell

Welcome aboard, Stick.

Mike Lemon

I am in favor of this approach as well.

Stick Figure Studios

"just search for old comic-con panel videos on YouTube," or the SNL skit about them.

Mike Lemon

Fill up her schedule? Considering how many films she sees in a month, scheduling only 1 Bond film hardly seems like a huge ask.

Matt Rose

I've always liked that the James Bond movies have limited continuity and hope it returns to that instead of the Craig movies where they are connected.

James1035

I definitely would rather do it your way than have a stupid poll to determine which movies to watch. That’s a horrible call

Krusty “Topher”

I agree. Two from Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig. Lazenby's one and I think we are good.

James1035

I'm thinking watch Dr.No,From Russia with Love,Goldfinger, put it on poll to keep going yes or no..I'd love to see more family friendly,Disney animated films,my kids watched Robin Hood '73 with me and they loved it💖💙❤

Celeste McAllister

What made me smile this weekend: bingeing the "Return of the Sisters" trilogy, then realizing someone needs to make a "Lethal Weapon: Middle Earth" trailer with Gimli and Legolas (who's 3,000 and is definitely "getting too old for this." Make it happen, Tik-Tok people.

Paul Stelter

The good news Dave, is we can count on Cassie definitely doing it her way. LOL

Todzilla

Well hopefully he will keep his helmet on in Mando!

Todzilla

So once again people think their opinions are more important and smarter than the rest of us. Star Trek just needs the movies and she'll get the jest of everything. There is no way she'll do everything cause that would take years. So let her decide how to do it and Bond because it's up to her

David Freese

Stick Figure, we are on the same page. I'm super proud of Cassie growing her fan base and communities. It's a net PLUS!! But with great growth comes more complexity. More Patreons and Subscribers pull her in infinite directions. Cassie is a class act because she does her best to appeal to everyone. However I think mega franchises like Star Trek aren't ever going to get a really good fair shake. The only way to experience and truly appreciate Star Trek is to watch it in order. Not every episode, but you need to get a few of each under the belt.

Todzilla

So you want to fill up the schedule with 25 movies. Let's see how it goes and let Cassie decide how far she wants to go. I mean not everyone are Bond fans. I'll watch whatever Cassie does but let her decide how to do it.

David Freese

There's no law saying that she needs to binge all 25 films in a minimum period of time. If she did just 1 a month, she'd be done in just over 2 years. Frankly, that'd be perfect.

Matt Rose

@Todzilla First of all she said she was doing Star Trek after Bond. 2nd of all if you look at the comments about Bond they are doing exactly what they did for Star Trek. 3rd if we can do 13 or 14 different movies and series for Star Wars than if she just did the movies there a total of 13 movies. So no that ship has not sailed. I like you buddy but it's not all about Star Wars.

David Freese

Ideally, I'd love it if she did all of them.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh lol right but wait witch part I mean there's alot

MatthewBrown74m

No, the Bond series.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, as time goes on I find myself becoming less and less enthused about the "fans" collectively choosing Cassie's direction for her.

Stick Figure Studios

This is a conversation that has been going on for quite some time over on Discord and while I and others do think she should watch all of them in chronological order, many do not want to do that because they either don't like Bond and/or think it would take too long for her to get through the entire series that way. I'm still holding out some hope that she'll start at the beginning and just keep going, but it probably won't happen. We'll see.

Stick Figure Studios

You are absolutely right, knowing Star Trek does add a whole new layer to GQ. But the way I see it, the movie is playing on tropes and knowledge about mainly the original series and its backstage drama, that I don't think can be acquired by a casual viewing of a few episodes, and watching the ST movies would have almost no affect in picking up on these references in Galaxy Quest.

Gábor Árki

Dearest Cassie, sending you a gift from McKenzie and I and planning to watch you open it. There’s a one-question pop quiz McKenzie wanted me to include. Hopefully you’ll answer on air. Hope you like your gift

Lamar Smith

What made me smile this weekend? I've worked every day, weekends included, since the day after Christmas, and I was finally able to take some days off. So I smiled all off-day, every off-day, from Thursday to Monday. Needless to say, I'm back to work today, traces of that smile slowly fading... GREAT lineup here, looking forward mostly to GF2. As for GalaxyQuest - it is not a spoof in the way Spaceballs is a spoof, so don't worry about trying to squeeze in any Star Trek before you watch. It stands on it's own just fine. If you wanted to watch anything to prep, just search for old comic-con panel videos on YouTube. Keep up the good work - looking forward to seeing that face (or with Carly there, faces) live later this month and for the Poppies! You are the best!

Dave

That’s a cool fact about Kennedy I did not know that.

Alex Gorell

Episodes 5,6 and 7 of Boba Fett are essentially the Mandalorian 2.5. I absolutely hope Cassie watches them as well.

Robin Craft

Jackson, you are absolutely right. Galaxy Quest is a great fandom movie on its own. But for those of us that know Star Trek, it is layered from top to bottom with Trek satire. There is so much there to both celebrate and skewer Star Trek. It is a far better movie if you have watched at least some Star Trek, whether you liked Trek or not. Just watch the Trouble With Tribbles or one or two of the original classics from the series or just watch The Wrath of Kahn and it will make Galaxy Quest 10 times better! And I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't seen the Trek movies! :p

Timothy Williams

Ya 🤣. We are going to get him twice a week for like a month between the last of us and the mandalorian.

Alex Gorell

It's Pedro Pascal's world right now and we're just living in it.

Robin Craft

If she just watched a few of the original series, such as Trouble with Tribbles, or watched 1, 2, 3, and 4 (or even just 2 and 3) of the movies that would be enough. I think she will watch them eventually as they are a major franchise.

Timothy Williams

What Gabor said.

Stick Figure Studios

Timothy I think that ship has sailed. I don't think Trek fans should get their hopes up of Cassie having great reactions to the franchise. NOT because of her, but because everyone is pulling her in different directions of what they want her to see. Honestly I think the only way for her to settle the debate is to watch them in release order, but that would never happen as it would take her years to do that. I can predict it now: she will be kind when giving her recap, but since she will be all over the place, she won't get a congruent story or history of the franchise.

Todzilla

That's why I said at least two of each actor. Sean Connery and Roger Moore both did seven each (if you count Connery's unofficial NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN), So I feel like three would be a better sampling size of those two actors.

Stick Figure Studios

I'd love it if she just did a poll for Connery, Moore and Brosnan as I think she should watch both of the Dalton ones and all of the Craig ones.

Stick Figure Studios

You should just watch the Bond movies in order. But skip the OG casino royale and never say never again. Both are non canon. Also idk if you’d have any interest in The Lasr of Us on HBO. The lead character is played by the guy who plays the Mandalorian. It’s based off a video game that’s great and the first episode was great as well.

Alex Gorell

From Russia with Love was also President Kennedy's favorite Bond novel, and he was an afficionado of the books.

Mingo Wayama

Star Trek knowledge is not necessary for Galaxy Quest. I’ve never watched an episode of Star Trek, only familiar with the tropes, but I love the film because it’s a good story and a fun deconstruction of fandom in general.

Jackson Harper

My trend of being wrong about Cassie continues 😅 I thought for sure she would commit to watching some Star Trek before Galaxy Quest. I'm more of a Star Wars fan, so I'm glad she saw Star Wars before seeing Spaceballs 😂 I just have a feeling that the Star Trek franchise and Cassie is going to be a dumpster fire of epic proportions. And it's totally not her fault, it's the Patreon "fans". Guys be having her watch Galaxy Quest first, then Wrath of Kahn, then Into Darkness, then episode 18 of season 2 of TNG, then Lower Decks, then Disgracery. She should just watch release order of everything starting in the sixties (including Galaxy Quest). But just my 2¢ 🎤👇

Todzilla

I finally got the chance to watch your Full Reaction to Young Frankenstein and that made me smiles, many times!

Collar City Guy

I agree. The first 3 in order from Connery would be great. People do get the point after that. Wait…. That’s a line from Thunderball (1965)

Steve Holton

Smiled when I saw your expression during Crash Davis' "what I believe" rant in Bull Durham. Priceless.

My favorite is also From Russia With Love. But I do love the first 3 from Connery very much, that would be my minimal set from him to be fully happy with if we can't get a reaction to all. I would argue though that order does have some importance. The Connery movies do have some slight continuity due to the villains, although probably not that significant that would crucially disrupt the experience if watched out of order. Then throughout Lazenby/Moore/Dalton/Brosnan there is indeed very little continuity. But the Craig movies do have a very interconnected, overarching storyline. Also, I think watching them in order is beneficial because it is a fun journey throughout 6 decades of filmmaking and you can watch both the industry techniques, tropes evolve and change, just like the titular character.

Gábor Árki

Don't bother with a James Bond poll...just do them in release order, you'll have fun. Lots of great entries and a few stiffs, just like most franchises. Just skip CASINO ROYALE (1967) and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN as those are non-EON films and exist outside of the very loose continuity of the series. Also, CR '67 is a flat out terrible movie...wait for CR '06 to come around.

Matt Rose

Btw do you think she should rewatch the Godfather part 1 to get a refresh memory

MatthewBrown74m

The tv series??? Well I don't if she be up for it but she can give a try lol

MatthewBrown74m

Yeah, it is a very reactive franchise. Both within the series, and also regarding film-making in general. If it's going to be a poll then I also think it should be per actor. And "winners" should be watched chronologically. That might help with the continuity present in mainly the Connery era movies, depending of course the winners. Although I still think there are so many good ones from Connery, that he should deserve at least 3 reactions. His first 4 are usually very high on all Bond lists.

Had a great weekend. Biggest smile was after finally fixing our front door which “Stuck” after so much rain in California. For Bond poll especially if it’s early Bond poll: In “Goldfinger” (1964) Connery’s Bond insists The Beatles should not be heard without wearing earmuffs. And then in “Live And Let Die” (1973) James Bond wears no earmuffs, even during action scenes when the Beatle music crescendos (And Bond gives 🎵 The other fella …H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks 🎵) Story continuity between early Bond films is similarly inconsistent. Expect to always see a new actor playing Bond CIA buddy Felix Leiter, and standalone stories in each film that allow a viewer to enjoy them in any release order. Though third film “Goldfinger” ranks highest as a favorite on most critic and viewer polls, second film “From Russia With Love” (1963) remained Sean Connery’s personal favorite for its more intricate plot and more grounded spy craft. But watching debut film, “Dr. No” (1962), offers a rare chance to view performances and creative decisions before everyone knew they had a hit. Bond’s iconic introduction became somewhat rote in later films, but in “Dr. No” care and effort make it the cultural highlight probably most associated with the affable Sean Connery. Even more so than “That’s how you get Capone,” “You call this archeology?” or "Shuck it Trebek.” If selected, hopefully “Bots, ….Copyright Bots” can’t force its exclusion from YouTube videos. 😊

I think she will be fascinated by how the series and the character evolves over the decades. By the time she gets to Craig, she will see why his take on it was so fresh and exciting (and provocative).

Stick Figure Studios

I hope she watches them too.. eventually. I just think she should go through the series chronologically.

Stick Figure Studios

PLEASE DO NOT WATCH GALAXY QUEST UNTIL you have seen at least a few episodes of the original Star Trek television series from the 60s and/or at least a few of the original Star Trek movies. from the79 and the 80s. If you are familiar with Star Trek you will LOVE Galaxy Quest!

Timothy Williams

I was originally on the side that she should watch Star Trek before GQ, but in order to enjoy the ST movie to the full extent, she needs to watch the original series, which I'm in total agreement with. And I don't think she'll get around to doing that, and I seriously doubt that majority of her viewers and patrons would support that. GQ is a great movie by itself, and can be enjoyed by those who haven't seen ST.

Hey Cassie glad to hear you had a fun weekend with family. I had a similar weekend where I went and visited my sister and her new baby (well 3 months old now). Hard not to smile when you hold a baby. Looking forward to the Poppies this year! Easily the only awards show worth watching.

My_Cousin_Mose

Looks like a great lineup ... looking forward to your "Bond" poll. Just a thought or recommendation .... have a poll for a Connery "Bond" followed by a poll for Moore, then Dalton maybe, Brosnan and then Craig. Just a thought. Enjoy what you are doing because we enjoy it right along with you

Bill Maurer

SWEET!!!! good choices, can't wait for your Leathal Weapon 2 reaction, that's gonna be great! and I'm looking forward to your next Livestream on the 28th, though that's a work day for me, I'm gonna play hookie, because there's no way in heck I'm gonna miss out on this livestream, especially since I wanna see the look on both you and your sisters' faces when you open my gift, that's gonna be priceless lol🤣 much love and support, I'm looking forward to the livestream, hope you're having a wonderful 2023 so far, and................. stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍

Top 50 polls could be spiced up too with the use of filters. Like pulling from top 50 romantic comedies for February, or from top 50 movies from the '80s, etc. Regardless, I do hope Oscar polls continue because they increase the variety with movies that might have not been picked/voted in otherwise. I like the idea of doing them quarterly.

Gábor Árki

I think we’ve had this discussion on discord, but I agree. You have to do a Connery poll. A Craig movie would probably win and I think that’s a bad place to start the franchise. Have to start with the first and best Bond and work your way forward.

James1035

@Celeste McAllister Awesome!

Steve Holton

What was good this weekend? I have a dear friend who is suffering from early Alzheimer's. We went to the humane society and found her a dog. His name is Coco, and he is adorable! The best part was when she looked up at me with tears in her eyes and said, "This is the one." My heart soared! As for the Bond poll, I agree that you should watch them chronologically. As you have found out, you follow them much better when you know the originals. I suggest you dump the poll idea and just watch them all in order over the year. Starting with the baddest Bond of all - Sean Connery.

Kat Farlowe

I do like some medium dry Bond humor. 😊

Steve Holton

I admit it makes me quite happy to get back to Lethal Weapon so soon.😀 And I think reacting to Godfather 2 is really advantageous while the story of the first one is still fresh. Regarding Galaxy Quest. Sure, it would be better to react to it knowing Star Trek. But I still argue, that watching just the movies won't do you much good. To pick up on the nods, references, and homage one needs to know the original series very well, including some of the backstage history as well. This is not something that can be acquired by watching a few episodes and would need a large commitment, which is an unrealistic expectation. But luckily this is not a spoof movie and can stand on its own very well. Finally, Bond. Although it is probably too late to convince Cassie otherwise, making a last-ditch effort to do so.😀My recommendation would still be "don't deny before you try". Starting at the beginning but without any commitments would allow for a more agile approach. The first few Connery movies are highly regarded and loved. Based on those you could tell whether even Bond is your cup of tea or not. Every actor brings a slightly different flavor, and the series certainly has its ups and downs, but at its core, every movie has a certain "Bondness" to it. If you really enjoy them, I would certainly be onboard watching all and wouldn't mind if it takes a couple of years to get through them. On the other side, if it is not your cup of tea then committing to just a few movies per actor might be too much. Leaving the options open, you could decide based on experience how to continue. Also, no need to rush through them. One movie a month, or even just every second month, with longer gaps between actors, would be a perfectly adequate pace. Going through them in order is also a great cinematic journey throughout 6 decades of filmmaking.😉

Gábor Árki

I hope she watch them especially skyfall

MatthewBrown74m

I don’t know what any of that means but I #luvyameanit 😀

Krusty “Topher”

“I’m sure things will be shaken and stirred around here” Ba Dum Tss! 😀

Robert da Spruce

She hasn't seen any of the Bond movies, but her sister Carly has seen SKYFALL and liked it. I love STAR TREK, but Bond is probably my all time favorite movie franchise, so I'm looking forward to it (though I personally wish she were watching them all).

Stick Figure Studios

I'd love to see a Hitchcock poll.

Stick Figure Studios

Whoa. Some major events coming up. Although (like you) I voted for SUPERMAN 2 in the "what world to return to" poll, I am nonetheless pleased that LETHAL WEAPON 2 and GODFATHER 2 ended up tying so that you would watch them both. They are great movies. I am confident you will continue to enjoy the LETHAL WEAPON films as they progress and GODFATHER 2 is one of the best sequels ever made (with many people even considering it superior to the first) and also one of only two sequels to ever win best picture at the Oscars (RETURN OF THE KING being the other). I am excited that you're going to begin the Bond series (probably my all-time favorite movie franchise), but I must say I'm disappointed you're not doing them all. I do hope that the upcoming poll is only for Sean Connery films and not for the movies as a whole because I fear most people are going to vote for the Daniel Craig entries (out of recency bias) when those are far more rewarding experiences if you have a familiarity with the whole history of the Bond films. Even if you don't see them all, my humble suggestion is that you view at least two of every actor who played Bond (except for George Lazenby, of course, as he only did one film) and that you do so chronologically. I realize it is not up to me and naturally I will tune in no matter what you end up doing, but short of reacting to them all, that would be my preference. Not to turn my comment into a list of complaints, but I am also, honestly, a little bummed that GALAXY QUEST won the top 50 poll (I was voting for THE ABYSS or STARGATE myself): not because it's a bad movie (on the contrary, it's a wonderful movie), but because it means you're going to be experiencing it before you have had any exposure to STAR TREK which the movie is spoofing. I know this was the cause of some controversy during the poll and I won't rehash it all here except to say that while you will no doubt still enjoy the movie, I wish things had worked out such that you could have done STAR TREK first and then brought knowledge of that world to GALAXY QUEST because I believe it would have made it a much better experience. Oh, well. As I said above, I know it's not up to me. In spite of these developments, I'm still loving/supporting the channel and I look forward to the upcoming live chat and Poppy awards. Hope you and your family are doing well. Keep up the good work. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

Always family and friends make me smile, and the college basketball team I like won this weekend, that was great! Another great line-up this week. GF 2 will be epic and the others will be fun! Remember the Oscar polls? They were fun. But I'm kinda liking the top 50 polls. There are so many good poll ideas. You could do one Oscar poll a quarter, one top 50 poll per quarter, etc. Just an idea. Still would like to see a Hitchcock poll, and other polls I like are for War movies, Detective movies. There are so many good poll ideas, you could put them in a bucket and just recycle through them. Go through them all once and then start again. Can't wait to see the shape of the Bond poll. I'm sure things will be shaken and stirred around here.

Mike LL

MatthewBrown74m: if I remember correctly Carly has seen one or few Craig movies, but Cassie hasn't seen any.

Gábor Árki

Does Cassie know about the Sandra Bullock rom-com "Love Potion No. 9"? it's kinda obscure

Bill Hayden

Blessings to you and your family Jon⭐I have had a change of heart I'm not leaving PIB..

Celeste McAllister

Hi Cassie! Nice lineup! Speaking of Martin Luther King Jr. If you’re still interested in learning more about him. There’s a documentary on HBO called King in the Wilderness that kinda picks up after the end of Selma. Showing the last couple years of his life leading up to his assassination. Looking forward to all the picks this week! And no, I don’t think you need to watch Star Trek before you watch Galaxy Quest! 😀 Your Pop cultural knowledge of Star Trek should be more than adequate to enjoy the film.

Robert da Spruce

Caught up with friends I never saw in 2022. :( Season 3 trailer of the Mandalorian. Starts 3/1. Cassie you need to at least watch a few of those Boba Fett episodes if you're going to keep watching. I know others have told you this. It's okay if you watch them on your own though I know I'd appreciate your reactions to them.

Jennifer Medicus

I'm pretty sure she hasn't watched any Bond but I could be wrong. Im not a big Bond fan so I can't wait till Star Trek gets seen.

David Freese

They probably was hoping she watch the star trek films first then this but I did see galaxy quest way before I got interested in watch the series and the films

MatthewBrown74m

My weekend was full of smiles just having my daughters around me for 3 days and both of them making me laugh. It helped a lot with the issues I've had this month. I'm still so grateful to you also.

David Freese

One could hope but think she's seen some on the recent bond films but not sure

MatthewBrown74m

Hopefully everything has helped you and your family this weekend! 😊

David Freese

Plans on Star Trek after Bond. So hopefully by Summer 🤞

David Freese

Should be very fun in fact she might be inspired to watch Star Trek Films like wrath of khan

MatthewBrown74m

There was quite a bit controversy on this subject while the poll was going on.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, kinda strange watching a movie spoof mostly on a franchise you haven't seen. But she's seen quite some scifi now, so should be fun I think.

Pickupthepieces76

Classy move watching both nr.1s, even though technically one had a few more votes. 👌 It will be worth your (and our) while.

Pickupthepieces76

Marked my calendar! This past week: finding so many supportive friends 😉

Jon Johns

Galaxy quest??!!! WOW well I hope you know a bit about star trek lol.

MatthewBrown74m

What made me smile this weekend? First and foremost full length reactions from Popcorn in Bed😉

Choof

Kick ass lineup!!!
