Akroyd had a Santa suit on. lol. You should watch Bad Santa next Christmas with Billy Bob Thornton. lol

Nolan Ryan

Nonsense. If everything is purely subjective, then nothing has meaning.

Sage Antone

The whole 'Is it a Christmas movie?' is purely subjective and cannot be definitively answered. The measure of whether Christmas is a character within the movie is fine, but I would add that Christmas being a character OUTSIDE the movie is equally important. I am in my late 50s and remember the days of only 3 channels when you had to WAIT to see your favorite movie or shows. Every major holiday, stations would show classics like 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Willy Wonka' and 'The Sound of Music'. None of these have anything to do with Christmas within them, yet I consider them to be Christmas movies because I associate them with, and watch them every Christmas. Do I only watch them at Christmas? No. But, then I also watch 'Miracle on 34th Street' 'A Christmas Carol' (any version) and 'It's a Wonderful Life' at other times of the year as well. Any movie can be a Christmas movie if it part of your traditions. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I second the suggestion of Bowfinger. Very funny and very much on point for someone who thoroughly enjoys movies!!

Bill Eby

Bowfinger is an underrated Eddy Murphy film. Just an underrated film in general… written by and starring Steve Martin (has there been any Steve Martin on the channel yet?).. great satire on the film industry.

Jeff Milcheck

You should check out 48 hours its another classic!

RJ MacReady

Eddie Murphy is a national treasure, and I highly recommend you tackle the Beverly Hills Cop movies next. It’s up there with the Lethal Weapon franchise.

Brian Lowery

It's definitely a film of its time, but still a classic comedy that I love to watch! I think Cassie would enjoy it.

Kelly Marie

I watched Coming to America not too long ago. Unfortunately it's one of those movies that to me doesn't stand up to time. It seemed old and outdated.

Doug Cook

Great reaction! I definitely agree it’s not a Christmas movie, just a movie that takes place around the holidays. You put this plot during any time of year and it would work. But I do agree that Cassie needs to see Coming to America now, and the first two Beverly Hills Cop movies. Also 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours are two good comedy/action movies with Eddie Murphy.

Kelly Marie

I’ll never look at a fish tank the same way again.

Anthony Vawser

15:44 Can I quote you on that? 15:22 Oh my gosh! I can't believe that you left in that spoiler for Hamlet! After all my efforts, you've gone and ruined it for me!!! :-) Merry New Year, y'all.

Happy Hanukkah

Your original impression of Eddie Murphy might be due to his earlier stand-up comedy, which was indeed somewhat raunchy. Some might even call it Raw. He later transitioned to much more family-friendly fare. As others have mentioned, two obvious Eddie Murphy follow-ups are the romantic comedy Coming to America (1988) and the action/comedy Beverly Hills Cop (1984). I only wish I had suggested these before! :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWdRhO9LDRM&t=7195s

I'd forgotten about this until TCM showed it recently, but have to recommend the Canadian Christmas thriller THE SILENT PARTNER (1978). Christopher Plummer as a criminal mall Santa, and a young John Candy as a bank teller. The film's star Elliot Gould said he screened it for Hitchcock, who liked it. (There are one or two scenes Cassie may want to fast-forward through because they're not YouTube-friendly.)

Paul Stelter

Time for Beverly Hills Cop

Can't wait for you to find out that your mother actually does say that line from this movie 😋 No the stock exchange is no longer like that. It's all done through computers and the internet. I never could fathom that it actually did work back then, with everyone screaming and writing all the trades down on little pieces of paper. In those days, brokers had the highest instance of stomach ulcers out of any profession. Now days, anyone can open a portfolio to buy and sell on their own even if it's just with a few dollars and trading penny stocks. With some companies, if you maintain a minimum balance, you don't even have to pay to make trades. Back then only a broker could do all that and every trade cost a fee, so if you wanted to get into doing business, you had to hire a broker, so there were a lot of them and they made a LOT of money.

Merry Christmas Cassie. I always enjoy your reactions. I would like to recommend for you to do a reaction to Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy. I think you will really enjoy watching this one.

David Toovey

NO, it was an ACTION FIGURE with awesome guns, knives, grenades, etc. Dolls don't have that. GI Joe could kick Ken's ass, right?

Richard Bourne

I had that as well, but it didn't survive a move. Dad was never keen on what he considered a doll, and boys shouldn't play with dolls.

Jay

Remember Mortimer and Randolph for when you end up watching “Coming to America”!!

Patrick Gibbs

Merry Christmas Eve Eve. And thanks for the -40F windchills from Canada - you can turn those big fans off now if you don't mind!

Dave

I love Eddie Murphy talking about the GI Joe with the Kong Fu grip. I had that toy and it was awesome because he could hold the gun, knife, walkie-talkie, and so much more. This was the foot tall action figure, not the three and an half in ones which I think Star Wars actually started.

Richard Bourne

Merry Christmas! Spending my evenings leading up to Christmas watching new episodes of Jack Ryan with my parents.

Cole Jennett

Happy Christmas Cassie. Literally just looked for your last upload and the notification came up. So excited for this one. Blessing to you bad yours .
