I worded that clumsily.. LW 1 > DH 1, LW 2 > DH 2, and so on.

I think an argument can be made that Lethal Weapons 1 and 2 are better than any Die Hard. (Though I don't agree with this. I actually think Die Hard 1 and 3 are legitimately great movies.) But I'm surprised you'd place Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 so highly. They're not terrible by any means, but by then the series had gotten progressively more sitcom-y. I think most people would place at least the original Die Hard above those two.

there is a difference between a Christmas movie (a movie that has Christmas as the main theme) and a movie (action, horror, comedy etc.) that takes place at christmas. for example National Lampoons Christmas vacation is a christmas movie. Silent Night, Lethal Weapon is an action movie that takes place at christmas

This is a premier example of what Roger Ebert called "wunza movies." From his review of "Rush Hour":
"'Rush Hour' is our reliable friend, the Wunza Movie, pairing two opposites: Wunza legendary detective from Hong Kong, and wunza Los Angeles cop. And wunza Chinese guy, and wunza black guy. And wunza martial arts expert and wunza wisecracking showboat. Neither wunza original casting idea, but together, they make an entertaining team."

Another buddy cop movie, that is more comedic, is Dragnet, with Tom Hanks and Dan Akroyd.

Would Beverly Hills Cop be a buddy cop movie? He partnered with two other cops in that one. Came out in '84.

Upon reflection, I sent Hard Target to Cassie along with Trading Places just over a year ago. So hope springs eternal. :-)

I would have to say I thought 4 was the best out of them all. It showed a bit of a different take on it and it had a great story along with Jet Li's first American role so that is also why it is just awesome sauce :D

Although I liked Die Hard 1 and 3 (2 was just ok, never bothered with the last two), I will venture to say all the Lethal Weapons are better than all the Die Hards. Lethal Weapon is one of the best action movies, best buddy-cop movies ever for all the reasons Cassie said.. little bit of humor, little bit of detective work, lots of action good story, good dialogue, interesting 3 dimensional characters.... Riggs and Murtaugh are a great team. Lethal Weapon 2 was very good too. I enjoyed 3 and 4 as well. Even though they relied a little more on humor, they still had good storylines.

I've realized I actually prefer watching the youtube edit than the full version. PIB was always a guilty pleasure as I rarely rewatch movies, literally the only movies i've rewatched have been man of steel bvs and syndercut.. There totoo many movies i' havent seen and not enough time. But i've got to say kudos to your video edit guy. He's an unsung hero and really does capture the whole movie and your reactions in a condensed 30 minutes.

With actor Gary Busey I've always read that with him it is very hard and it takes a very long time for him to come out of the character he is playing. Make sure you react to the sequels as well.
