Christmas Movie Poll

Hey guys, hold onto your butts, its Christmas movie time! I'm sorry this is a bit late, it was A WEEK! I know I say that a lot of weeks, but my youngest had croup and RSV and I was hosting my book club and running around flocking trees and such, you know important things ;)

OMG I AM IN FULL CHRISTMAS SPIRIT though! I watched some v. bad Hallmark movies and loved every second, I have been baking gingersnaps and I am SO so excited to get into these movies on the poll. I want to watch them all, I just might.

Remember last year's Christmas poll? I watched The Muppets (loved it, watching with the kiddos this week), and Scrooged which was fun, and then of course It's a Wonderful Life, which changed my life!

Remember these are some big ones I have seen already: A Christmas Story, Elf, Love Actually, The Family Stone, About a Boy, Home Alone.

I am already planning on watching the OG Miracle on 34th Street and Die Hard 2 as well :)

Ok go Vote and Be Merry!

**The poll will end Sunday at midnight and you can pick more than one on this one!

Comments

THIS. Rickman as Colonel Brandon is THE ideal man.

China Andronicus

No, you're right; that's a good point.

Jim Williams

Those are more Easter appropriate than Christmas, but that's just my opinion.

BRT

It's a matter of subjective opinion, so not worth dying or even arguing about.

BRT

so BAD SANTA didn't make the cut?

just me

I love Trading Places, probably seen it over 20 times. I wouldn't consider it a Christmas movie though. I don't think the studios did either since it was released during the summertime

Shawn Kildal

Hey Carly! If you're a Kate Winslet fan see if you can get Sense and Sensibility on the docket sometime. It was done right before she did Titanic. If you liked Pride and Prejudice, you would love this. Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman also star in it.

Shawn Kildal

Cassie and Carly both agreed that the first Die Hard wasn't a Christmas movie since it didn't have the spirit of Christmas in it.

Shawn Kildal

The way I understand it, Cassie has seen Christmas Vacation but not in the way that she sits down uninterrupted and watches every second of it. I suspect a lot of it would be unfamiliar to her. I hope she gets to give it the Popcorn in Bed treatment.

Shawn Kildal

Is it bad that I’ve never seen the Holiday?

James1035

Yes to this

Larry Darrell

If your going to watch Trading Places, you really need to also watch Eddie Murphy's other big hit from the early 80's "Coming to America" . They go together somehow. Trading places, not really a Christmas movie, although set around Christmas.

Francis Chery

Ooh, yes, The Holiday would be near the top of my list for a Rewatch Reaction - there are so many movie references to movies that have been reacted to on the channel in it.

Planner

My idea, long ago, was for another live watch-along, but for something you're both seen before, so we can all chat during the movie.

Jon Johns

Hey Carly. Welcome to Patreon. Its nice to have you around.

James1035

On one condition, Carly. One of you is Team Jude Law and the other HAS to be Team Jack Black. No switches. One of you has to swoon over Jack Black. Maybe another round of rock, scissors, paper to decide? :)

Dave

Just saw remembered the night for the first time and it was fantastic and we’re no angels is my sisters favorite and it happened on 5th ave is my moms with the others well loved. Those are Christmas classics not elf

Ben92

If you are saying you both would be sitting there saying the key lines right before the actors said them, yeah, I would like to see that! 🤣🤣

Mike LL

Even though we've both seen it 10 times... can we just watch The Holliday... It has to be the best Christmas movie out there :)

Carly Popcorn

White Christmas is truly THE ultimate Christmas movie IMO - and you would adore it

Hannah Mather

You should check out Feast of the Seven Fishes. A wonderful, recent holiday film... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7846056/

Delford Chaffin

I'd like to offer an alternative poll... a list of literal Christmas movies to watch: "The Robe" "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (sequel to the above) "Quo Vadis" "Barabbas" And I think you've seen "Ben Hur" (with Charlton Heston) And I'd like to add, "The Agony and the Ecstasy". Not exactly a Christmas movie, but the one that cemented my faith as a Christian, because of one line of dialogue.

Jim Williams

She has seen that one before she started her channel

Sean Stuart

Also, wanna suggest a film for if there’s another Christmas poll this year. Bad Santa… I wouldn’t have suggested this a year ago, but Cassie’s come a long way. I think she’d appreciate it… And it’s funny as hell.

Jeff Milcheck

I like that term! And while I don’t really see Trading Places as a Christmas movie either, I can see the argument for that one. Granted, I haven’t seen it in many many years, but I recall a lot more of a Christmas vibe as opposed to Die Hard… Hell, Dan Aykroyd was dressed up as Santa for a portion of the film! That’s pretty Christmasy.

Jeff Milcheck

Christmas adjacent is the term I like for these kind of movies.

Richard Maurer

For me, Bad Santa is the funniest movie ever. Would love to see Cassie squirm her way through it.

Al Swearengen

Hate to bring up this old debate, but I’ll die on the hill saying Die Hard is not a Christmas Movie.

Jeff Milcheck

Yeah, that was a big mistake. Should have at least watched Dawn of the Dead first, preferably the Romero one.

Richard Maurer

Ish

Special Agent Sunshine

A year late and a 100 bucks richer. look into the archives. Merry Christmas!!

Larry Darrell

Should have die hard on here

Special Agent Sunshine

Trading Places is one of the all-time greatest comedies for sure. However, I personally prefer not to watch Action films or Rated "R" comedies during Christmas time, even if they are set during Christmas. After New Years, in January when you are still in the Christmas Spirit, but your resolve to not blow anything up or shout profanity has weakened, is the perfect time for such films. That's just me. The older I get, the more conservative I get. Christmas Vacation (1989) and Trapped in Paradise (1994) are some hilarious Christmas comedies. The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942) is also a very funny Christmas classic. It's unclear if she has seen Christmas Vacation or not. Even if there is a shred of doubt that Cassie has or hasn't seen it all the way through, then I'd say it is worth watching again just to make sure. Almost every line in that movie is quotable. Same could be said for Home Alone 2. "Get down on your knees and tell me you love me" Taking a couple lines from The Muppet Christmas Carol, "It is the season of the Heart" and "It's true where ever you find love, it feels like Christmas." Romances do certainly fit well with Christmas. The Hallmark Channel figured that out. Some favorite Romances and films with Heart for Christmas time, not on the poll, are Bachelor Mother (1939), Remember the Night (1940), Meet John Doe (1941), The Bishop's Wife (1947), It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947), Holiday Affair (1949) and We're No Angels (1955). So remember, "It's the Summer of the Soul in December" and "It's all the ways that we show Love, that feel like Christmas." ------------ Paul Williams (Little Enos).

Larry Darrell

Thank you Richard! Mild as well as mildly infuriating and/or baffling. Shaun of the Dead being her first zombie movie? 🤦

mikethemotormouth

It's on the "watched list", page 11. https://letterboxd.com/pib1/films/

Mike Lemon

"I have been baking gingersnaps" I prefer drinking ginger schnapps.

Happy Hanukkah

It happens that just a few days ago I watched Bad Santa for the first time. I decided if I’m ever going to criticize a movie in a poll it’s going to be this one for Christmas. But seeing how well it was doing I thought who am I to fight democracy. Roger Ebert liked this movie but he adds: "There are certain unwritten parameters governing mainstream American movies, and Bad Santa violates all of them."

Dennis Shogren

I would just like to wish everyone a "Merry New Year!!!" ;)

Dave Hill

To be fair, horror fans had to settle for some pretty mild content. So having to watch movies that are Christmas adjacent, maybe now you know how we felt.

Richard Maurer

Ditto!!

The Bookish Hedgehog (Zathras)

If you like heartwarming, cute holiday rom-coms, Last Christmas is good, especially if you're a fan of George Michael songs. ;)

Kelly Marie

Did you like it? I just saw it and was really disappointed in it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I expected better from two A-list actors, I mean, some parts were decent, mainly the middle, but the beginning and end were not good. If it wasn't a musical and a 90-min comedy with a clever, funny script, it could've been much better.

Kelly Marie

Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd together, there are going to be some really funny moments. Every time I buy frozen concentrated orange juice I think of this movie.

Richard Bourne

Amongst the choices, it’s got to be “Trading Places.” I love that it’s referred to in a scene in “Coming To America.”

Jason Mackey

Absolutely agree, but it is funny.

Terry Wood

Doing a comparison/contrast of Holiday Inn and White Christmas would be fun. Holiday Inn is the superior film, but White Christmas is quite fun, too. Hopefully, the ones you don’t watch this year, you can pick up in future years.

Terry Wood

I recommend that Cassie and Carly (and the whole family really) watch at some point (not for the channel, but for the pleasure of it) "She Loves Me," the Bock & Harnick musical adaptation of "Parfumerie," the play which "The Shop Around the Corner" is based on. While there is no film of the original Tony-winning production, there is film of the 2016 Tony-winning Broadway revival. Available from BroadwayHD through Amazon Prime, it stars Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi (bet you didn't know he can sing), and Jane Krakowski. It is an excellent production of a thoroughly delightful musical.

Elliot Nesterman

I’ll have to watch it!!

Krusty “Topher”

Hehe Mikethemotormouth. I think you never saw Show me love on FshareTV. Because that's some kind of rom-com that I think you will like 😉😁🤣

Björn Karlsson

"Hey guys, hold onto your butts" - Cassie, whata potty mouth you're becoming!

Richard Maurer

@mikethemotormouth - There are three musicals I like, Rocky Horror, Wizard of Oz, and the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That's three more than the number of Rom-Coms I like.

Richard Maurer

Cassie Would LOVE that movie! In fact it should be a double feature with The Exorcist, another movie Cassie's sure to love.

Richard Maurer

If Maverick can win Best Western, Trading Places can win best Christmas movie. I don't make the rules.

nick bell

I am sad that The Ref has like no chance to win this. It's so underappreciated!

David Collins

This this this!!

David Collins

I'd say one slightly more so than the other

mikethemotormouth

Preach it, Mike!! Hear, Hear!!

Larry Darrell

Trashy?? Corny maybe. Some people like corny. Some people are looking for corny in their lives.

Larry Darrell

Consider watching "The Bishop's Wife". It's a Christmas film that is not only funny but has romance. It stars Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. It's a great movie!!

Matthew Linson

Keeping with the way most people think on here, Better Off Dead (1985) and Grumpy Old Men (1993) are also Christmas movies.

Larry Darrell

The Brick scene is one of the funniest of any movie.

Larry Darrell

These are all very good choices; it would be tough for me to decide. I'm surprised "Reindeer Games" isn't on the list. I will probably vote for "The Family Man" as it is most like one of the most beloved Christmas movies of the past. Don Cheadle is great in it. I doubt anybody else will vote for it, but even if it doesn't win... you should watch it. Everyone needs a glimpse.

Jim Williams

My all time favorite is the Muppets Family Christmas, where Jim Henson shows up at the end. It's been my favorite since I was a kid

Glen Childs

Like Die Hard, Trading Places is full of Christmas messaging.

Jim Williams

Trading Places is not a Christmas movie as much as it is a movie that takes places during Christmas.

Richard Bourne

Just remember. It's not really Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off of Nakatomi Plaza!

Alan Kobb

We watched almost a whole month of horror movies, or horror comedies in October. In December, what is so wrong about watching more than ONE or TWO movies that are, you know, actually about Christmas???

Mike LL

OK Shirley Temple (Shirely Temple Black a US Embassador) fair enough, she was bigger than Natalie Wood, good point.

Richard Bourne

All i can say is that Trading Places is one of the BEST comedies that happens during the Christmas season.

Daniel Roberts

If she watches Shop Around the Corner, which is great, I would love her to follow up with You've Got Mail.

Kristin D

@AC5555 couldn't agree more, not everything is for everyone @Richard Maurer I can't speak ill of musicals. Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music were a sizeable part of my childhood, same for Rocky Horror and West Side Story being a part of my adolescence

mikethemotormouth

"Natalie Wood who was the original child actor in Hollywood" What about Shirley Temple?

Mike Lemon

I suggested it, but even if it made the list, there isn't a chance in the world it would have won. Plus, I doubt Cassie would like it. That said, it is nice to see someone else that has heard of it.

Mike Lemon

We don't know what the month's schedule is, it may already be on there somewhere.

Mike Lemon

Lol dammit Richard you're not even kind of wrong 😂

mikethemotormouth

Krampus is more of a Christmas movie TP, LW, and Diehard. Prove me wrong!

Richard Maurer

To each is own I guess. Some of us love those.

AC5555

Rom-Coms are even worse than musicals. And less realistic too.

Richard Maurer

All Marvel, All the Time? That's a great idea! And much more profitable than classics could ever be.

Richard Maurer

One of my favorite werewolf movies! Wait, you were talking about the movie, right? If not, please disregard.

Richard Maurer

Lethal Weapon is definitely NOT a Christmas movie. Don't even think about arguing with me!

Richard Maurer

They actually did make them. Released to coincide with the release of the movie.

Richard Maurer

If Trading Places wins, and you select Coming to America from the trivia nights winners choices, please watch Trading Places first, as there’s a great moment in Coming to America that you won’t understand unless you’d already seen Trading Places.

Cole Jennett

Me neither but she was perfect for that role. My favorite was Luke Wilson's character. It was such a great family and warm story.

Raj Hudek

Has Cassie seen Christmas Vacation? It's just not Christmas without the Griswolds. :)

Dan Waller

Love as a concept? Certainly not Syrupy sweet romance as entertainment? 🤢 I think Better Off Dead(1985) and Grumpy Old Men(1993) may be the only rom-coms I actually like. Then again, I can't say that I've seen many. Just my two cents

mikethemotormouth

Yes I grew up watching these old one's so they are what I think about this time of the year

Hankster

Such a solid cast. Edmund Gwenn won an Oscor for this protrail of Kris Kringle as best supporting actor! Maureen O'Hara, who was a huge star back then as Dorris, and then Natalie Wood who was the original child actor in Hollywood... wow. Every attempt to duplicate or update this fell short. A big part of this movie was a mother/daughter relationship which changed.

Richard Bourne

100% agree! So good! My absolute fave Holiday movie. We usually watch it every year when decorating my parents place!

Orcagirl78

Yes! I just watched that recently for the first time a little while ago. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it ( not a big SJP fan).

Orcagirl78

Yes, the original 1947 one is so much better than the 1994 version. I have both, but Santa in the 1947 one is just magical! You really believe him!!

Orcagirl78

One of my faves! Apparently there is a version without that number. And Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas" for the first time is worth watching the movie for!

Orcagirl78

Holiday Inn (aside from one questionable musical number) is one of my fave Christmas movies. White Christmas is good, too! The Ref is hilarious 😂

Orcagirl78

I remember seeing The Ref, Pulp Fiction and Clerks when they all came out when I was 14, and for the next year, every other word out of my mouth was a swear word.

XanderWhat

The Ref! If probably won't win but damn I like Denis Leary!

Jacob Colson

Then "A Charlie Brown Christmas" should be on this poll, because at least that one talks about the TRUE meaning of Christmas!

Sean Novack

Boo

nick bell

Trading places is NOT a Christmas movie, it's a movie that takes place during Christmas. Just like die hard and lethal weapon.

Craig Russell

Larry Dee Scott stars as a father trying to secure an Action Man action figure in 1966 American suburbia

LuMarq

Does anyone else FEEL like today is the day that Cassie and Carly are going to watch ‘300'. It just FEELS like today is the day, but I’ve been wrong before.

Uncle Phoenix

I'm assuming Jingle All the Way's year is a typo? Or is there some obscure version made in 1966 that I don't know about?

Nolan B.

It's Holliday Inn for me, you can't beat Bing singing and Fred Astaire dancing

Hankster

you have something against love Eh? Lol

AC5555

It's a rom-com so count me out. I don't doubt it'll be a PPOTM eventually.

mikethemotormouth

All us old people are waiting for all you young people to wise up and see some really great movies that you have missed. So far, its been a long wait.

Mike LL

THE REF all the way. One of the best written black comedies of all time. I still say you should add KISS KISS, BANG BANG to this list...or maybe have it in your back pocket if you have time to watch another movie.

Matt Rose

Can I do a write in vote for Earnest Saves Christmas?

Ronny Boss

Jingle All the Way is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it's trashy but it's so funny as an Arnold fan.

KTVindicare

Same here 👍

Joseph Rardin

Absolutely my favorite of all the Christmas Carol films.

James

No, its just that a lot of people don't read the text that comes with the poll. 😂

Mike LL

I could not agree more. I saw it for the first time only a few years ago and have loved watching it every year since. Thanks for mentioning it!

James

The Family Stone is missing from this list!

Raj Hudek

I agree about the colorized version of It's a Wonderful Life. I think that it works because unlike other colorized movies, it was done in the late 2000s. So they used computers and software to match everything. It's really good and honestly I like watching the color version more. I know that sacrilege but I don't care. They did a really good job with it.

Caomhan84

Shop Around the Corner for me! It's a rom-com with Jimmy Stewart, so I think Cassie (and Carly) would love it.

Brian O'Grady

Show Shop around the corner some love Guys 😭

AC5555

You should watch the Ryan reynolds/will Ferrell movie that just came out on AppleTV. it’s called Spirited. It’s a “Christmas Carol” and “Scrooged” type movie. Fun Musical.

CJ Ilano

It's good that there are a lot of " old people" here. Otherwise this channel would be yet another in the long line of "all Marvel, all the time". Aren't there enough reaction channels that do that? Cassie is at least very eclectic. And if it wasn't for us " old people" She would have never seen something like The Best Years of Our Lives....which she adored. And countless others.

Caomhan84

Cassie hasn't seen Gremlins? How do we get it on a poll?

Mark Sylvester

meet me in st louis is great

zynjams

I guess Gremlins will have to wait until 2023.

Carol_White

the Santa Claus is so good tho...

POSTALMNDCLARITY

Had to vote for The Ref; (Dennis Leary in his prime.) but really I am so motivated for Die Hard 2. Woohoo

Uncle Phoenix

Die Hard 2! Hurray!

Odd Thomas

I think she should still watch White Christmas, a definite all time great film, period.

David Crabtree

Trading Places will and should win, but I do think you’d enjoy Shop Around the Corner.

jdj830

I don’t think the ending is heartbreaking at all…

N M

Hah, I voted for the same 3 myself! All fun flicks, in their own ways

Blackavar

I love The Ref but happy Trading Places is in the lead.

David Thibodeau

Agree!! Die hard is not a Xmas movie!!! Don’t care what anyone says.

brooke atkins

No one is surprised sir 🫤

John Cranberry

It has a Christmas Tree in it.

John Cranberry

Your avatar flickering 👏

John Cranberry

Thank God Trading Places is on this list. I have no desire to see anything else on this list. TP is a comedy masterpiece.

John Cranberry

"First Moses, now this!" is an Eddie Murphy quote I use regularly.

Christopher Smith

As long as Cassie is watching the original 1947 Miracle on 34th Street (hopefully with Carly), I am good. This was a really well done movie that doesn't over-do anything, it stays within the boundaries of reality but finds ways to surprise and accomplish seemingly impossible things in the spirit of Christmas. The real Macy's Department Store took a risk by signing on to movie, and I think it was paid off for them. The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade of course continues to this day and formally begins the Christmas season with Santa at the end of the Parade. The 1994 remake should have never been done IMHO. There were also two made for TV remakes, 1955 and 1973, both of which nobody remembers.

Richard Bourne

Lol always a bunch of old people in these polls

aarswft

Go for Lethal Weapon instead - same debate,,,,,,wait, has she seen that one too? I really don't remember.

Richard Maurer

It's as much a Christmas movie as Diehard..............hey, wait a minute........

Richard Maurer

Only movies I've seen on here are Arnold's Jingle All the Way and Trading Places. Even Christmas in Connecticut and I'm from Connecticut lol

James1035

Well, the day Cassie puts a horror movie in a Christmas poll means she's been turned to the dark side......so we can only hope. :)

Richard Maurer

Always thought Jingle all the Way gets a bad rap. It’s one I watch every year as it’s just a really fun and silly movie #putthecookiedown 😂. But it looks like Trading Places is going to take it which I’m more than ok with. As i always like seeing peoples reaction to 80s Eddie Murphy when they are use to the more modern kid friendly version.

Dean Holt

I wouldn't mind seeing The Hebrew Hammer on this poll 😁

Ronny Boss

I'm right always. Great Christmas movie. I watched White Christmas it was boring. It's not that great. I haven't watched again. Also, you never get Bing Crosby singing White Christmas except in Holiday Inn.

Joseph Rardin

Disappointed "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" isn't on the list, but maybe she's already seen it? (Filmed in British Columbia, btw)

Paul Stelter

It takes place from Thanksgiving to New Year, and has Christmassy elements. It counts as a Christmas movie!

Wes Stewart

It's possible she has seen it. I think it's just as likely she hasn't. And if she hasn't, her reaction to it could be a real treat

mikethemotormouth

Trading Places came out in June. Takes place during that time of year not a Christmas movie. You peoples are ruiners!

Michael

I could really go for some ginger snaps right now.. thanks a lot guys! :(

Andrew Rose

trading places, jingle all the way, and the ref is the move here. btw jingle all the way is 1996, not 1966

diego kontarovsky

@John Jon's but my foot is in my stocking 🧦 every day.

David Freese

As much as I want Cassie to watch Trading Places, it is out of place here on this poll with other Christmas classics. The Shop Around the Corner has my vote and if there is a viewing for runner-up as well, my hope is that Shop gets it.

Dave

I loved The Family Man but that ending broke my heart... easy to know why.... So I pulled a Cassy/Carly and made up my own additional ending.

Andrew Rose

Of course, you can sync last year's reaction to Wonderful Life to a colorized version at any time, but I get that a re-watch of that movie would be very entertaining.

Mike LL

Add love hard!

Viet Ta

You are right. See my reply to a comment above about Trading Places. Want more traditional Christmas movies, there are only a few slots open before Christmas.

Mike LL

You might be right any other time of the year, not in December.

Mike LL

It is the movie that stands out in this poll, that's for sure. She is already watching a few "non-traditonal" Christmas movies, such as Die Hard 2 and, maybe, Lethal Weapon? I know it was mentioned. And she is watching a great Golden Era Christmas movie in Miracle 1947, so I have no complaints. But was hoping for a few more traditional Christmas movies, so with more Queen's Gambit, LoTR, RoboCop, and While You Were Sleeping, there are only so many more slots open. I don't want to fill the slot with Trading Places.

Mike LL

Your focus on that one scene is like focusing on the drunk Santa at the beginning of Miracle on 34th Street 😂

N M

Yep...Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Great movie. Won the Oscar for the song "White Christmas'.

Doug Cook

I went with the classics. White Christmas, Shop Around the Corner, and Christmas in Connecticut. I love old movies. I don't think I've ever sat down and watched all of Trading Places. I know my father nearly died laughing watching it though.

Jennifer Medicus

Respiratory syncytial virus I had two co-workers whose kids were in the ER and then hospitalized because of it. It's been going through the pediatric populations like wildfire and a lot of the kids' hospitals are overwhelmed. Glad it sounds like Cassie's children were okay.

Jennifer Medicus

I like Holiday Inn much more than White Christmas, but the blackface in the "Abraham" musical number will doubtlessly put off many viewers coming to it with modern eyes. I honestly feel that if it didn't have that portion, it would be better known than White Christmas by audiences today. On the whole, it is a lovely movie.

Caomhan84

I believe that is correct. I think the date 1966 on the poll is a typo

Mike LL

The ending of the Family Man is one of the most memorable aspects of the film.

N M

Holiday Inn is less known but so good. Bing (White Christmas) is iconic.

Jerrod Acree

The Ref is one of my family’s favorite. The depiction of the family was mine growing up. Lol

Jerrod Acree

Trading Places isn’t really a Christmas film. White Christmas is a classic! My son (8) loves it. I watch it every year.

Jerrod Acree

No...I don't think Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Doug Cook

I feel nothing but Chrismas spirit every time I see Trading Places. Don't be a scrooge

nick bell

The Family Man is one of my favorite Christmas movies.

N M

Right?! That would be great!! But hey….@Cassie ain’t got da GUTS to give us a Cooking Live!!! No GUMPTION that one!! Not even if we….say…..DOUBLE DOG DARE HER?!?!?!😀😉

Krusty “Topher”

There's one scene with Dan Akroyd dressed up as a drunk Santa...That hardly makes it a Christmas movie. I'm assuming that Cassie wants to get in the Christmas mood...Trading Places will not do that. Good grief.

Doug Cook

I think Home Alone: Lost in New York is such an iconic Christmas movie and on tv so much that most ppl have already seen it

N M

I was wondering about it being a Christmas movie, too.

Bryan Fritchie

That movie is messed up.🤣

Mitchell

Hi, I would normally share that thought. But I make an exception for 'Wonderful Life' colourised . It's jaw dropping. I don't know how they managed it.

Rich Campbell

Trading Places will win (and that's OK, because I have always liked that movie) but I'd be curious to see a reaction to "The Family Man". No spoilers, but when I first saw it I was terribly unhappy with the ending (I wanted it to end another way) - I wonder if anyone else felt that way about it.

Cliff Endicott

I agree wholeheartedly, and it’s for that reason that I’m not surprised at all that it’s nowhere close to winning this poll.

Kevin M. Pitts

I was going to ask the same thing! You beat me to it😄

Katie Jackson

By the way, Shop Around the Corner is the movie You've Got Mail is based on. YGM is the remake. I'm guessing that would be a good one to add to your list Cassie.🙂

Mitchell

Got to ask what is RSV? Sounds like some sort of off road vehicle... Possibly with some sort of gun mounted on top.

James Moy

Please please please! Jingle All The Way as a Duo Reaction. You both liked him as a hero in Terminator 2. I think you’ll like him when he’s NOT killing people in this one.

Joseph

No 29th Street. Great Chrismas movie. Sad

nick bell

I voted for Shop Around the Corner and White Christmas. I love Trading Places, but it isn't a Christmas movie. But if it wins, you will love it anyway.

Kat Farlowe

I'd love a Baking with Cassie live episode where she's making ginger snaps.

PapaXan

It is set over the holiday season. I bet you don't think die hard is a Christmas movie either! ;)

James Moy

Not to be a hater but some of those are not very good movies. I would especially stay away from The Ref. A very unpleasant experience. The Family Man is nothing special. As for Trading Places I've never thought of it as a Christmas movie but I suppose a case could be made for that. Regardless, it's a classic in any genre and must see. No surprise it has by far the most votes.

Mitchell

I can't get over the gray teeth in colorized films.

Kat Farlowe

I love that film. Just saw it for the first time this year.

Kat Farlowe

Just watched it. Love that film.

Kat Farlowe

Screw the poll. I want ginger snaps!

Krusty “Topher”

I agree. It is a wonderful film, remade many times. I think the latest was "You've Got Mail" with Hanks and Ryan. But the original is just the best! Gotta love Jimmy Stewart.

Kat Farlowe

I want to repeat what H.G. said, because he is so right!! "Another great Christmas movie that too few people have seen is Remember the Night, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. Directed by the undervalued Mitchell Leisen and written by the genius Preston Sturges, it's a film of incredible wit and heart and I wish it were more widely watched at this time of year." Yes!

Michael T

Takes place at Chrismas. There's a Christmas party. There's a Santa Claus and its just a great movie and I want it to win. Lol

nick bell

Bad Santa should definitely be on the list...

Andrew Ramos

'Shop Around The Corner' for me. I'd also be up for a re-watch of 'It's a Wonderful Life' (perhaps the colourised version? Normally I'm a b&w purest, but 'Wonderful Life' in colour is stunning.) Merry Christmas everyone!

Rich Campbell

Explain to me how Trading Places is a Christmas movie

Doug Cook

Plus they’ve made about half a dozen remakes of Shop Around the Corner. The most famous one is You’ve Got Mail.

Matthew Hines

It takes place around Christmas, has Christmas trees and people in Santa suits. Plus it's a classic movie.

PapaXan

I get a foot in my stocking, every.single.year.

Jon Johns

Hope your little one is doing much better! :-)

Collar City Guy

Agree on Wonderful Life. Saw it for the first time several years ago when I was sick and couldn't travel with the rest of the family for Christmas. Sad, but made me appreciate fam even more. Now it's a tradition that I watch it every year.

Nathan

Its not a Christmas movie

Doug Cook

Trading places is an amazing Christmas movie. Ignore what anyone on here says!!

nick bell

Here's a great Christmas movie that isnt well known. I highly recommend. ..'It Happened on 5th Avenue'. Made in 1947. Check it out. Why is Trading places on here as a Christmas movie? There's just one scene of Dan Akroyd dressed as a drunk Santa Claus...not exactly Christmasy

Doug Cook

@Jason Fulbright I don't know what I get in my stocking 🧦 every year so I don't know what would be a good replacement for coal. And Cassies bright sunny disposition last year was what made me join Patreon so I just telling the truth. 😂🤪🤪

David Freese

Idk how I missed that. That’s a fail on my part. It’s been a long week 🤣.

Alex Gorell

she said shes already watching die hard 2

Variable38

The other great Christmas movie that too few people have seen is Remember the Night, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. Directed by the undervalued Mitchell Leisen and written by the genius Preston Sturges, it's a film of incredible wit and heart and I wish it were more widely watched at this time of year.

Henry Graham

No Die Hard 2 ahh man. Shop around the Corner is next best I think.

Alex Gorell

A Christmas Story as well

TXW

Yes - fantastic and moving

TXW

The Shop Around the Corner is your kind of movie all the way. A young James Stewart has never been better. Trading Places is an odd choice. Funny, but not a Christmas movie.

Robert Jewell

I assume National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation isn’t on here cause we are already gonna watch it? Because that is an absolute must!

JimJames

Both Shop around the corner and Christmas in Connecticut are amazing movies that have great stories and acting

TXW

She won't watch Bad Santa for the same reasons she won't go near the American Pie series. Just a hunch lol

William Bryan

Too funny David. Considering the current environmental concerns about coal I'm not sure what to expect in my stocking this year!

Jason Fulbright

White Christmas. It's GOTTA be White Christmas! (I love Trading places too, but... you really, really need to see White Christmas.)

Terri Wyatt

For full transparency, as much as I would like Trading Places to happen, and even suggested it myself for an unconventional/alternative Christmas movie poll, it is not a traditional Christmas movie. Just takes place during the holidays.

Gábor Árki

You Got Mail, is a remake of Shop Around the Corner. Very good.

John L Woolfolk

I was gonna write this one in.

Joe Mallard

It'd have my vote. I love Toni Collette

mikethemotormouth

White Christmas without a doubt!

David Crabtree

Another favorite of mine not on here is Scrooge 1951. The best Christmas Carol imo starring Alister Sim. I still can't believe most people have never seen it.

Joseph Rardin

The Bishops Wife is my Family Christmas favorite.

John L Woolfolk

The Shop Around the Corner is not only the best Christmas film ever made, it's pretty high in the running for the greatest romantic comedy ever made.

Henry Graham

I want my Turboman Action Figure!!!

Jaccob Cortes

Oh, I know. I just mentioned it because of how much that movie is debated to be a Christmas movie.

James Young

Holiday Inn > White Christmas smh

Joseph Rardin

I like 'Trading Places'. It's funny. It is not a Christmas movie.

Thomas Boyette

Get your young ones into good health. That's the most important thing. I used to go Ba Humbug ever year but I think you positive outlook has changed my outlook bout Christmas.

David Freese

OK you've seen Home Alone. But what about Home Alone 2: Lost in New York(1992)? Featuring our former carrot-er Commander in Chief Donald Trump

mikethemotormouth

What? No Die Hard?!? LOL! Just Kidding! I think she's seen it already anyway. I know it's been on the Classics Poll and while it's during Christmas, it's not really a "Christmas" Movie, but I love to watch "A Lion In Winter" during the holidays

Chris Davis

She saw that last Christmas

William Bryan

heart warming!

Sam Hui

White Christmas is my family's traditional favorite. The feels!!

SeanATX

What, no Die Hard? hahaha but I vote Jingle all the way even though it was 96 not 66

James Young

The Ref is criminally underrated

Michael Rios

Come on Cassie. Bad Santa? Vulgar yeah, but Flippin hilarious

William Bryan

Sad to see Christmas In Connecticut getting no support. An absolute black & white classic from back in the day.

William Charles

I wonder if people are voting for "Jingle All The Way" not noticing the date.

Bill W

Get the pork bellies and frozen concentrated orange juice ready! 😄😄😄

Zane From Canada

I’m so glad The Ref made the poll!

Patrick Egan

Trading Places for adult comedy. White Christmas for a sweet classic.

Adam Doyle

What, no Krampus? ; )

Richard Maurer

Soon as I saw it, I was pretty sure which one would win.

Brian McGovern

Trading places! The prequel to Coming to America!

Eric

I don't think it will win the poll, but I think The Family Man is the one you'd like the most out of this list.

Bryan Fritchie

A Christmas Story is a true classic

Matthew Dunham

White Christmas has been my favorite Christmas movie since I was like 6. I love it with my whole heart.

Amy Silknitter

I voted for jingle all the way assuming its the 1996 Arnold one

Eric Wallace

Trading Places is such a great movie.

PapaXan

Hope u and your family are well Cassie ❤️❤️❤️🤞🙏. You truly are a gem of a human
